Speaker 2 (00:30):
Thirteen fourteen past. I'm calm and he's tend to be.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
And look who willow drink drag drug in. It's none
than the legendary Mark Rosen Share.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
How was your weekend? It was good?
Speaker 4 (00:41):
If I am trying to backtrack, what were your gals
back when she arrived Sunday night?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Oh no, she.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Didn't go to London. Oh she just went to double
the first first stage.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
I missed that.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Someone the translation she went to Dublin k back and
then so yeah, we were we were whole for the weekend.
At the early show on Sunday morning, and then yeah,
we just we made dinner and just you know, kind
of hung out and caught up and all that good stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
So your Vikings club entertaining game. I don't think there's
any question about that. And again they had to pull
the fat out of the fire. It looked like, I mean,
when Cleveland had the ball in their last possession, I thought, well,
one first down, this game's probably over. They run it twice,
(01:26):
and the Vikings had been unable to stop the run
the entire game. It was almost embarrassing. But then they
came up with two stops. I think one was for
no game one. It might have been a yard or two.
Stefans get acides to throw the football, and you know,
we can debate whether that's the right decision to make
or not.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I'm a guy that does like to.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Win the game, win it, so throw a pass completed
that would have probably been the game. But of course
he had a rookie quarterback. There was nobody open. He
had to throw it away. They ate up like seventeen
or twenty some seconds. Bikings get the ball back and
then they were able to do something they really hadn't
all day, and that put together a sustained eighty r
drive Wentz went nine for nine, Addison finally emerged, Jet
(02:09):
had an amazing catch, some key catches in that driving
they go down and they and they despite a depleted
offensive line in which they were down to darisaw was
a pitch count. They had four backups and three of
them I think were considered third stringers. Yet with all
of that playing a pretty good defense, they were able
to steal a game against Cleveland, And.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Yeah, London, I think we talked about it last week.
The only ad the advantage the Vikings had in terms
of all the injuries the offensive line was that they
had the full week to work with these guys, as
opposed to the week before against Pittsburgh. When when you
have those in game injuries and you got to shuffle
the deck and putting people in positions they hadn't played,
and you're doing it in the middle of the game
without really any consistent practice time, it's a lot harder
(02:54):
to do. So last week they had that chance to
work with those guys, and you know, they're professional football players.
Granted that the obstacles were there for them, but especially
against the guy like Miles Garrett for the most part neutralized,
but yeah, you know, the names by now, and we
didn't know them at all before this week, but for
(03:14):
the most part, but I think that that that full
week of practice helped. Now by all appearances, you know,
Donovan Jackson will be back for the Eagles, Uh there
like Cashman should be back for them. The offensive line, yeah,
I mean, we're hopeful.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
We haven't.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Heard anything on on what's the right tackle yet. Neil O'Neill.
You know, it sounded like you would be out four.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Weeks because it was on the IE or doesn't he
have to be out four weeks? Did they put him
on the I R? I thought they did. Did they
put O'Neil on the I R?
Speaker 2 (03:44):
I don't know if they did. I don't think they did.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Okay, so they did, but in any event made his
close attention to the injured reser once.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
None of us do.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
But the fact that darrisaw probably his pitch count, as
you said, and the Vikings have talked about it, will
probably increase, and getting you know, Donovan Jackson back will
certainly help. But uh, you know that that's part of
the ebb and flow of what we see, and you
guys have talked about it in the in the NFL
with pretty much every single team.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
But yeah, it was impressive because they did what they
had to do that last try. That's the that's the game,
that's the NFL. That's where you that's where you earn
your keep. And Carson Wentz did his job. You know,
he was battling a you know, a shoulder that was
probably killing him, but fortunately it was his left shoulder.
Accurate with his passes, the line provided him with the
with the protection you said, JJ made us at least
(04:32):
one spectacular catch and then Jordan Addison uh found the
end zone like he couldn't find the practice time last
week for for just a little bit anyway, And I
still thought, and I know maybe it's the uh the
Viking fan and all of us. When uh Cleveland had
an opportunity, I thought, oh boy, I can just I
can just see the kid Gabriel launching a hail Mary.
(04:54):
The ball is going to bounce off three hands and
end up on the hands of Cleveland receiver and they're.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Going to win the game.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
And you know, I'm glad you brought that up, because
you know what I want to ask you. It looked
that they granted Minnesota a timeout on the first Hail Mary.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
But it looked remember, yeah, they granted him a time
so they got a second chance to do it right.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
It looked like O'Connell was really angry with the official.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Why was that? Is there been an explanation for.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
That, because if he called a time out and they
recognized it before the play, why would he be mad
or play started before the time out went.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I thought that the answers were pretty confusing all day.
But they had the visual of O'Connell running down the
sideline the time outside, so then then you look like
he is upset about something. Maybe he was upset because
it took him so long to acknowledge the fact he
was calling a timeout. That's the only thing I can
think of was I don't think it ever came up
in his news conference. He definitely was signaling for a
time out, and then of course Cleveland Gabriel threw it.
(05:50):
You know, he was looking to save a second or
two through it short, but by the time that the
receiver ended up in bounds and so the game ended.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
It was a nice tackle to prevent because I think
he would have gone out about.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Yeah, he would have would and would have always you know,
scary situations because we've seen it before.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
But you're right after they called the time out and
they intercepted the pass. It would be very vikings like
if on the very next Hail Mary they throw it
down there in Cleveland catches at the saw.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Some pretty crazy endings in the national football none crazier
than last night. When you know I gave up on it.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Well, nothing, I gave up on it.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Wow, fourteen nothing Yeah, Ken's said it was a fourteen
nothing like ten minutes into the game.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
I gave up.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
That's early to give up in the game unless she
has some better to do. Yeah, I wasn't like twice
Ford to It was two touchdowns against the Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
You have never well, Lawrence has been awful.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Well, it's been awful. I mean he's been pretty good
there for we have more.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Faith than I do.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
And you know what I said, an explosive team. Again,
the Chiefs defense has not been very good. I mean
they you know they were okay, Uh, it was you know,
very entertaining to fall down.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Weis one you saw that I didn't. I thought it
was over.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Well, I'm not saying that. I thought they were going
to come back and win. And I was flipping around,
was watching a little baseball. But I thought it was over. Yeah,
well for good reason. I mean it's not the norm
that Kansas City is going to let a fourteen point lead. Well, yeah,
I understand that. I thought it was I thought it
was over.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Yeah, I missed. We've seen a lot of games. I
missed the fireworks at the very Yeah, it.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Was fun, it was. It was fun and good for Jacksonville.
I mean, especially getting a home win like that. I
think you're kiddies, don't They play uh Kansas City this
week fall?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah, that'll that'll be interesting. And I think it's uh
at Burrowhead? Is it not to me? Is it? Yeah?
That's it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
I am a salty team right now because there's used
to being under five hundred at any time.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
There were guess what they're going to be two games
in five hundred after.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
They might be They well they should be. Detroit's a
better team right now.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Well, Detroit's got injurieshes again on defense, They're now missing
another starter, and they think Arnold gonna be a long time.
They said, well, his problem is is is he's he's
kind of shaky. I mean something he can either be brilliant,
or brutal back there. He makes a lot of mistakes.
He's I still think there's that you don't give up
(08:15):
on him. I think he's got some talent and they're
waiting for the developed because this is only a second year,
I think. But yeah, but it's it's you know, they
we talked about the first segment, or maybe the second
segment of the day, we talked about the injury bug
and about how, you know, there was a piece in
the Athletic about.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
How Vikings, Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
And another team have not let you know, they they
didn't let the injuries.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Stop them from from winning football games.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
At Tennabe and I were discussing that it's like, you know,
like the Lions last year, because their offense was so prolific,
they could continue to win games even with a leaky
defense when they were missing eighteen guys all together in
the season because.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
There are other there there. You know, their.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
Offense was so good they could just outscore teams and
so and sometimes it's if you do have competent backups
that are only a step below the guys that got hurt,
you can continue to compete or and Mark Craig pointed
this out at his piece. He thought O'Connell was brilliant
in the way he was able to cover up for
(09:16):
those all those offensive linemen, the way you know, the
plays you call, and the different ways you approach a game.
So there are ways to get around injuries because everybody
gets them. It's who handles them best. How good are
you backups? And then, like I say, in Detroit's case,
if they just had an ordinary offense last year, you're
a good one, but not like, not the best in
the league. Basically they wouldn't have been fifteen and two.
(09:37):
They kept winning games despite that. Had no defens in
the Vikings. I think because now I'll get they've had
trouble stopping the run, but when they needed to come
up with stops they did it.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
Especially another great example the forty nine ers there and
they had a laundry list of injuries, and they're big underdogs,
not two or three point, they were like eight point underdogs.
I think we did the spread swing last week against
the Rams and they found mac Jones.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
I mean the mac Jones. I mean they've paid uh,
I think Shanahan's a quarterback, which.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
They might be paid Brock pretty a boatload of money. Well,
he might be he is. He he coached Brock Purty.
He also coached Garoppolo. What happened to him, Well, for
a while he was okay for a while, for a while,
he took him to a Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
I mean so.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
But my point is Shannon coached up Garoppolo, he coached
up Purty, and always coached up Mac Jones. There, if
you want to talk quarterback whispers, there's one right there, well, and.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
That's Mac Jones. Had a tremendous game, But there was
a lot more than that with the forty nine ers.
But that just shows you maybe we're over emphasizing the
injury list of times. And I'm saying that with a
rhetorical kind of twist to it, because every team has him,
but you That's why you have to sign really capable
backups if you have time to work on those guys
playing on a regular basis. These guys are pros as well,
(10:55):
and they get an opportunity to play. It's it really
sometimes is not get much of a you know, slide
in terms of talent.
Speaker 3 (11:03):

Speaker 2 (11:45):
I got another question for you, Marcos.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
I think last week I asked you if you would
trade Anthony Edwards for Victor Webbin Yam, and you said absolutely,
Now not.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
A million years.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
What would you in a million years? No, let's not
go that far. Yeah, Well, I'm just saying no. The
answer is no. I'm not going to say I know
you would, but I would.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Would you trade him for Cooper Flag? Is that a joke?
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Oh? Yeah, I trade him for Cooper Flag. Let's see
a guy who's probably going to be a multiple MVP
for a guy who's got a plenty of talent. But no,
of course I wouldn't trade Anthony. You nobody the right
flag last night. No, I did not see Cooper flag
last night.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
I don't. Why did you not watch it?
Speaker 4 (12:28):
You're watching him baseball? You were watching the baseball.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
You are watching Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Guess I'm watching Cooper flag a first ballot Hall of
Fame unanimous.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Did you see him by lightning? No, I didn't see him.
I'm not. Did you read about what he did?
Speaker 4 (12:45):
No, it doesn't matter to you to answer your question.
Of course I wouldn't trade him. Nobody in the right
mind would Right now I would. Well, of course you would.
You would trade him for Wemby. You would trade him
for You said you would trade him for Wemby and
would formby?
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Yeah, and for.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
I know you're just having he was off the good life. Yeah, boy,
that's why they play those preseason games. Well, all the
starters were in.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
So what why wasn't your guy Edwards in the first preseason?
Speaker 2 (13:13):
And do we know?
Speaker 4 (13:14):
I know he's playing tonight, it's playing at home tonight,
and so do you know the Wolves are playing tonight?
It doesn't sound like it because at the start of
your show you were talking about that Anthony Edwards didn't
play in the first preseason.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
He didn't. I know, we didn't.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
But a lot of starters don't play it on the
road because it doesn't you know, it's just it doesn't matter.
I mean, they want to let him, let other guys
get playing time. That's why they call it the preseason.
But he's playing tonight because they're playing at home and
they want the home fans to take a look at
him for a while.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
And so wondering why you're the player you would trade
you would never trade for anybody would not be playing
in the first preseason just a question.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Well I just gave you an answer because it's a
preseason game. Well, congratulations, I'm happy he played. I'm just saying, well,
I know, but he probably won't play in the second game.
So it's an irrelevant point that you would bring up.
Or is there something more that we don't know about
(14:12):
very deep? What if it was disciplinary Oh, I'm sure
it's disciplinary actions. Well you don't know, Yes, I do know. Excellent,
how do you know, Uh, it's like talk with the
PR guy today. Well, no, I just want to make
sure he was starting and he's he's going to play tonight.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
So you asked if he was asked the pr if
he was starting.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
I did, well, I asked he was playing.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
And why would you ask, because if he's gonna he
always You just said, well, it was an old plainer,
he'd play the homie.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
So you were thinking the same thing I was. Because
they rested him. He was watching from the bench.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Why you wouldn't need rest if you haven't played one
game yet this season you come off of.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
This is going to be a long year talking.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
But I just mean you just said resting him from what.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
It's a it's a turn that you use. I know
this is maybe this is new for you when you're
saying they're resting him. Of course he doesn't need the rest.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
I wouldn't think so he's just been resting for six months.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Use some of the stuff for your comedy routine. You
need to freshen it up.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
What you need to explain yourself of why he would
need rest.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
It's okay, it's the wrong word. It's what that's what
he was just not playing. How about that they chose
to not play him in a meaningless exhibition games and
wanted to take a look at some of the other
players on this team that they acquired, like Bones Highland
and all the rest of the young players that they
picked up. And it's hardly unusual in any sport, especially
(15:37):
if you Kenna talked about Capriestoft didn't play. They signed
a multi billion dollar contract. You didn't play in the
first preseason game, did he?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
He didn't play like four of them?
Speaker 4 (15:46):
Yeah, why why didn't he? Are they resting him?
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Leo?
Speaker 3 (15:50):
He doesn't need rest because they've been Okay, doesn't need.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Rest yet, Let's let's get let's not him play it.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
I mean, I would say rest is probably not the right.
It's just avoid injury.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
That's what it is.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Well, not even that, it's just not They just want
to take a look at some other players. And like
I said, he's gonna play tonight, he'll probably play who knows, twelve,
fifteen minutes whatever, just to get out there. They're practicing
harder than they are than what he would be have
to do in the game tonight.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
And just food for thought. I'm just asking. I just
belched it up. So that's okay, Okay, we'll see, we'll see, Okay,
I'm just keep it.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
It's funny.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
What what's your prediction for the Wolves this year.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Well, I mean it's very Again, the Western Conference speaks
for itself and it starts with okay, see and you're
chasing them. My, I don't. I haven't really given it
that much thought, but I would. I would think the
Wolves would be in contention to be a second place
finisher to Oklahoma City in the regular season. Sorry, I
gotta turned this down. Yeah, I think that. I mean,
(16:53):
as they say, they're running it back, and they get
some newer players. I gets some guys that I think
will be better this year, hopefully be healthier for the
most part, even say or even Scenzol, depending on how
he want to pronounce his name, Julius Randall. Where really
I went to that first game last year when they
were in LA against the Lakers and and Randall was lost.
I mean, it was good, look at it. It took
a while, we saw a fish out of water. And
(17:13):
I think they're gonna be able to pickup where they
kind of left off. And I think those two guys
are pure a second seat. Yes, I think that would
be my my my prediction. And you know it's if
they can stay healthy. They got the depth they have
the players come back. I think they have the motivation
that Okay, so he's going to be the ultimate challenge.
They're they're just that good. But you know Denver the
(17:35):
rest of the characters, they have Denver's number. That doesn't
seem like they ever lose to Denver, whether it's preseason,
regular season, or playoffs. They have they playoffully well against Denver.
Dallas is going to be your guy. Cooper Flag will
be obviously very good, and that they can stay healthy.
It's always an if with those guys. So those are
probably the my missing another team in Golden State's going
(17:57):
to drop off. I think they're aging really yeah, I
think that's huh yeah, I don't. I don't see them
making a run. So I think it's you know, Okac, Minnesota, Dallas, Denver,
depending on which pecking order you want to put him in. Yeah,
and then after that, who knows. I mean, I don't
start predicting playoffs and all that, but they should certainly.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Be right there. Hell of a the Mavericks are put together.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Yeah, it's good, very good. They're a very good team.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
They've got Cooper Fly, they've.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Got street clothes, street cloths from about fifteen games before
he Kyrie did you hear you say, what was.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
That last name? You said?
Speaker 4 (18:37):
D'Angelo Russell, Commo guard. You included him in that conversation.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
That's funny. If he was still in a youth Wolve's uniform,
you'd be raving about it. I wasn't raving about it
when he was here? Are you kidding?
Speaker 4 (18:51):
I've met I would sometimes I come in here and go,
what kind of shot selection was that guy taking?
Speaker 3 (18:58):
This is going to be a long season with with
the homer takes.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
It's not a Homer take where the deep.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Team with the second seed in Dallas, they're all washing,
but the street clothes will be injured in that's where.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
They call them street clothes. When is the season?
Speaker 2 (19:13):
When?
Speaker 4 (19:13):
When was the last time Street Close has played a
whole bunch of games. It's unfortunate. He's a huge talent.
And it's not I forgot about the Lakers. I mean
I I mean Lebron made this big announcement today to
talk about some liquor. He's promoting the big announcement he made.
I don't know. It's don jitch Hardaway. That's a damn
good team. I'm not trying to shy away from that.
(19:35):
I'm saying no, I'm not washed. It sounds like you are.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Gafford. Yeah, they're good. I think they're good. I think
they're gonna win the NBA champions They very well might.
I'm not. I'm not.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
I didn't say anything about the plays, playoffs or posting.
You asked me where the Wolves would finish. I said,
I thought they'd finished second. That's where a lot of
the people are saying that if you're depending on which
order you want to go in and it doesn't really matter,
just finished second, third, whatever it is, you still have
to you know, it's just a matter of seeding to
get into the postseason, and you know home court doesn't
always mean that much.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
So you've heard about Luca, haven't you. I have heard
about him. I've watched him play. No, but I mean
that he's Oh he's slimmed down. It's good.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Well, maybe they don't help him this year because he
certainly wasn't helping the team last couple of years. I
mean in terms of his conditioning. Well that's why he
lost the weight, because people would say he got tired
defensively in particular. So I mean they're paying him how
many millions of dollars you think he would be in.
That's his one job is to be in the best
(20:35):
possible shape you can be in. All these guys and
when people go, oh, look at it, he's worked so hard.
He's been paid fifty sixty million dollars a year. Isn't
that any of these players job to be the best
possible shape you can be in.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
I would think. So Houston club looks pretty good too.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Well, yeah, they are very good, but they lost their
they lost their starting point guard. It's okay, Well it's
not okay. I mean they have to replace him.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Well, let's see, the Wolves lost Julius Randall for an
extended period.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Yeah, and hurt him a lot. Yeah, and hurt them,
and it took him a while to kind of That's
what I said. I think the advantage you'll have this
year is that it's not going to be a new experience.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Joshakogy Now we didn't need.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
Him here, Oh, we didn't need him.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
He's good.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
I like to watching Joshua Kogy. He was a good
defensive player.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Pretty good club.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
The West is loaded. I'm not denying that. I'm in
Steven Adams pretty talented play. He always gives the Wolves
fits can't wait to go to the games.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Oh yeah, you'll be there, there's no question you won't
be well. Of course, why would I go? I could
watch the team. I understand that we'll take a break,
we'll come back.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
I've gotten forty grill Mark Rosen about on the other
side of the break.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
As a comment program Here in the.
Speaker 1 (21:51):

Speaker 3 (22:20):
The Bengals haven't given up yet.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Great for Joel Flacco.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
They think they've seen enough of Jake Browning's great for
Joel Flacco. I think they figure they can just hang
around till Burrow gets back, is what they're thinking.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
It's December, though, right yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
And hang around hitch per three and one.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
The record is not as bad as they are, and
they're a three.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
I about the one team that just given up more
points than the team in the NFL. Who'd ever thought
that the Baltimore Ravens give it up more points than
any team.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
In line soften up for everybody else.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
They've certainly been softened up. They're a disaster. And now
you know, I don't know along Lamar's out, but it's
it's stunning, really, But I would you trade Ann.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
For Victor ola depot He scored twenty points last night?
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Yes, gans, I love Victor Oladipo.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
How many points he scored for the oh the Young
Zhu Lions last night.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
There's your guy up there of the TV Cooper flag.
Another duke watched this package, but I just don't.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Watch watch this against the defending NBA champs, to watch
the Look at that boom shot, look at that amazing
look at that and he kept running down hit the
lane on the left side to make sure that he
No one's ever done that in the history of the league.
Watching of this, yeah, look at that little dish, little underhanded.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Rookie of the year and maybe even in then, can't just.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Now look at look at look at him, look at.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
That just finds the open guy right there, just to.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
How to recognize any of those okay, playing out there
right now?
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Look at this.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
I don't see it. I don't think ched Holmgren's out there. Boom,
where's ched?
Speaker 2 (23:59):
Oh he's not in follow trouble.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
He's well, he couldn't guard Fly could stop.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Nobody can stop Cooper Fly just have to contain them.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Look at them, you're doubting them.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Is up for three with a guy in his face,
a guy in his face with the look. He did
that all in about four minutes of action. Wow, they
beat down Okay eighty nine, just beat him down.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Guys that were wearing okay C's uniforms. They weren't really
the okay ce thunder. That's okay, that's hard. I don't
want to believe I saw s g A out there.
Then we'll get back to them the regular season starts,
which is that far.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Away If that's what you want to believe. Yeah, well,
it'll be fun to watch him. He's a good player.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
What are your twin sources tell you any closer to
getting a manager?
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Who are they going to give?
Speaker 3 (24:51):
What are your sources tell you anything?
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Radio silence?
Speaker 4 (24:56):
I've heard every uh, you know, everything from there going
looking at it, college coach to you know, the usual
kind of retread suspects, you know, batting coaches, hitting, pitching coaches.
You know what difference does it make? I mean, again,
you're asking someone. It's like that seeing an office space.
(25:18):
What is it exactly you do here? The Twins manager,
what is it exactly you do here? Besides make out
the lineup card with a team that's really not major
league material.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
That's what I would like to know.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
Really, again, it's not going to sell tickets. I don't
know who they're hiring, you know, the the ghost of
Sparky Anderson. It's just you know, I'm watching the baseball
playoffs and I watched seven innings that game last night,
and you would have loved it. The Dodgers and the Phillies.
The two starting pitchers were as good as it gets,
and I think seven innings of scoreless ball.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
The Phillies pitcher.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Was unbelievable, The Dodgers was outstanding, and it was just
I think each team had a hit or two. Is
your kind of game, then the Dodgers, as the Dodgers
are wont to do, just broke it open.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
They're just too good.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Text messages are actually asking where giving away the petty
theft tour tickets? Oh boy, They're actually interested, They're actually interested.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
And I forgot to give them the moist, So why
don't we do that right now? Tim? Do you mind? Sure?
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Get ready to laugh your face off, just a couple
of pickpockets. Is the Petty Theft Tour Common and Meat
Sauce and Larry Mundela guy will take over Max's on
the Green and Spice or this Saturday. You can grab
your tickets today at event bright dot com or be
part of the heist right now.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Be the eleventh caller at one E. What are you
laughing on over there?
Speaker 3 (26:49):
It's a comedy shot last one eight hundred three two
zero fifty three twenty six. One eight hundred three two
zero fifty three twenty six.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
You're the eleventh caller.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
You're gonna go to the Petty Theft Tour Saturday and
at Spicer Doors at four thirty, show at seven thirty.
They're opening really really early, so she can buy a
lot of food and such like that. They got a
hotel there you can stay overnight. They got a golf course.
It's gonna be a grand time nice. That's rough in it,
litle London, Spice. That's about two hours.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
In the Twin cities. Yeah, yeah, so yeah it'll be
it'll be a lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
What were you here when they signed for you something
we already talking about? Yeah, okay, because I couldn't remember
if that was on Friday or Friday.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
I was when that was out? Was before?
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Okay, they signed the goaltender to a big deal and
and yeah, and I think ten to me, I don't
want to put words in his mouth, but he's he you.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Know, he goes.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Yeah, I think he was kind of he almost forced to,
but you know, he's he had a really good year
and a kind of an okay year.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
But what are you gonna do.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
He's kind of your guy and you got to sign him.
And so that's what they've done. It's a lot of
money for a goaltender.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
I think, well, it's price you pay. I mean, no
more Marc Andre Fleury to come to the rescue and
Wallstead is he done? Is he the backup now?
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Tennant?
Speaker 4 (28:07):
I think so he's the tennant taking calls. I'm sorry
all for the tickets. Yeah, I mean it's uh, you know, well,
I know the price of success. And you got to
hope that he keeps getting better and better. And I
can't here we are in Middlewark, not even middle October right.
Seasons are colliding again. NHL season actually starts tonight. The
(28:29):
will's in the NBA had to serve for a couple
more weeks. And uh, then I said, baseball playoffs, everything
else happening, college football a collision of seasons.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Yeah, my sources tell me the Twins are looking at
Kurt Suzuki as the manager.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
I've heard the name. I mean, I've heard the name.
I mean I've heard the name mentioned as well. Again
it's it's great. I I hope you know, I'll do
a lot of guys will be interested in managing a
big league club. The salary is good, and you know
you've got a good opportunity. Probably signed a three year contract,
so you're guaranteed three years of salary, and and uh,
you got no pressure on you. I mean it's like
(29:06):
you're taking over the Yankees or a contending team. You
literally have no pressure on you. And we've seen both sides.
But we've seen Hall of Fame player like Paul Malder,
who worked with the minor league system, knows the game
inside and out. Name manager of the year.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
I was in New York.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
They lost their one that one game playoff they had
with the Yankees, but then you know the Twins management
one of their own guys. You're so fascinated with the gods.
One of the best, one of the best rosters ever
sembled the history of the NBA. Okay, okay, you really
(29:48):
are delusional. One of the best rosters in the history
of the NBA. On paid Celtics Lakers seven.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
I said one of I didn't say the best, either's
morning when mark even more than the eighties Lakers in
Boston teams, there's more than the eighties.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
You don't have to go back that far. San Antonio
Spurs that ring a bell, the dynasty they had. You
probably never watched any of those games, but anyway, those
guys are pretty good under Popovich with with Duncan, Duncan
and Genobili and.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Save all this audio would because he's basically laughing at
the laughing.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
I guess because you're comparing an unproven Dallas Mavericks team
right now with one of the one of the greatest
rosters of all time. It's just it's pure comedy gold you,
like I said, you need to You saved us some
of this stuff for the show, and they haven't done.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
The bath that the Mavericks are like thirty and three
and your Wolves club's are fighting to stay above five hundred.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
Okay, get back to me up. I will apologize profusely
on this show started rehearsing. This is one hundred thousand.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
What is it right now?
Speaker 4 (30:57):
I don't know, No, okay, I will apologize profuse if
the Mavericks are thirty or three star.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Rehearsing that apology. The name of the podcast today is
Doubting Dallas.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Yeah, Doubting Dallas. He's doubting Dallas. He's laughing at the
Dallas Mavericks, making fun.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Of making fun of them all. I think they have.
Speaker 4 (31:14):
But I just asked me the beginning, I said, all
those teams, the teams in the West to beat are
simply you know, Okay, So yeah, I threw the Wolves
in second, Dallas and Denver.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
It's the same.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
It's the usual suspects. I think, like I said, I
think Old State's going to drop off. You know, Phoenix
is gonna is not going to be that great this year. Uh, Sacramento,
and you've got good teams that are quality teams, but
not contending teams. And I would put Dallas in the
category of a contending team. I'm not dismissing them. I'm
just saying I wouldn't call that one of the greatest
teams that ever assembled. In HIMBA, I think I think
(31:46):
they're one of the greatest teams ever assembled. You wonder
why your credibility is at stake.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
I got plenty of credibility.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
It's statements like that five running backs. You know, well,
the five running backs things.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Still for me? Well, you're here to for humor. I
understand that. I don't see why having four or five
of the best running backs in.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
The name, so they would all be very happy getting
three carries a game.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
How do you know they wouldn't be.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
If I told, because you couldn't afford them under the
salary cap.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Those running backs we talked about Mark also signed for
ten million or less a season.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
That's not that you.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
Signed Sakuon Barkley's making ten million.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
He was last year. Well I'm talking about this year. Well,
but I was talking about signing him last year.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
If you signed those guys, none of those guys were
making you could have signed four top running backs for
a grand total of about forty million dollars. You're paying
quarterbacks fifty million. One guy fifty million, you could play
running backs.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
So you're not gonna throw the ball. You're just gonna
hand it off on third and eight, third and nine,
hand it off to them and hope that they can.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Well, you can have a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Two.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
Aaron Rodgers is playing for ten million dollars right now,
and you didn't want him on the club.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
You didn't want it.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
You wanted to go with JJ McCarthy, the wonder kin
from Michigan. How many quarters has he played?
Speaker 4 (33:09):
Eight?
Speaker 2 (33:10):
How many were good?
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Won?
Speaker 2 (33:12):
How many were awful? Seven?
Speaker 3 (33:14):
But you want to turn it over to him after
spending The Vikings have spent more money this year cash
outlay than any team in pro football to try to
win now, and you're turning it over to one.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
I'm proven kid who conver to shave.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
Okay, Well, I think as we've seen, and it's going
to take time. No one anticipated JJ missing all of
last year, no one anticipated him reckoning eight. But I
think if you look at the class, you look at
Drake May, you look at Bo Nixon, Bo Nicks, you
look at Jayden Daniels, you look at Caleb Williams, and
(33:49):
missing probably one or two other ones. And JJ's in
that mix. The one thing all those other guys have
an advantage of is playing time, and that's therein lies
the issue with the Vikings right now and what KOC
has to decide. You know, at some point J. J.
McCarthy has to play, and whether.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
He's gonna play, he's gonna play against Hideo.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
He probably will. He probably will if he's healthy enough.
I think he will play against them. Yeah, I think
he will and I and you know, they're not throwing
the towel in you can. And this season is very
much alive, and the guys are paying good money to
want to win, and they want to win now. And
that's not to suggest that McCarthy can't win now. But
you know, if you sit him for the rest of
(34:29):
the year and say we're just gonna we're gonna roll
with Carson Wentz the rest of the year, is that
the right decision, then then what then then start the
clock all over again next year. All these guys I
just mentioned may Nix in particular, Daniels played really well
last year. Caleb Williams had their struggles pretty much every
single quarterback that uh, that's that started out that way
(34:53):
with their Hall of Fame type careers have struggles early on.
I don't know how you avoid that, but I also
don't know. I mean, and you have to decide what's
best for the team right now, and if they feel
that McCarthy's ready and has made strides and whatever he's done,
but you got to do it in a game, and
then you got to line them up against the Eagles
and the Chargers and the Lions three straight weeks. I'm
(35:15):
not sure Carson Wentz could you know it's gonna be
able to handle all of that. But then again, you
look at some of the other team the issues that
some of these teams are having. As I said million times,
this is a week to week situation. You know, the
Eagles are having trouble throw the football right now, they're
having trouble scoring. You don't know what it's going to
be like when even when he playing week from Sunday,
(35:36):
they got a game on Thursday night, and you know
injuries play a role in it. You know they got
to come in here. The Vikings will be healthier next
a week from Sunday. I think the anticipation is that
McCarthy's going to play, but that doesn't mean it's going
to be one hundred percent the right decision.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
You can't.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
You don't know that, otherwise the wouldn't be a decision
to be made. But no, I'm not unhappy that JJ
McCarthy's on this team instead of Aaron Rodgers. I don't
think the Vikings do you think that? Do you think
they'd have more wins right now? If Aaron Rodgers was
on the team, Which game would they have won?
Speaker 2 (36:07):
That they that?
Speaker 4 (36:08):
I think Rogers one wait, which games? So they would
have beaten Atlanta? Well, they would have been Atlanta ran
right over them. They had nothing to do with the
quarterback that day.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Here.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
The quarterback was Sometimes when a team is running over here,
your quarterback has to step up.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
And that's like saying that that's that's like saying the
Ravens should be winning because Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson was
putting up big numbers before he got hurt by Rodgers was.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
So bad quarterbacking Pittsburgh. We played Pittsburgh and we lost
to Pittsburgh. Yeah, if Rogers would have been playing for us,
he wouldn't have been playing for Pittsburgh. He was.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
He was really good in that game. That's okay. I
think it was a little more. No, well, I mean
it's not.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
You see the one touchdown passing through where he looked
where he looked, pace off the wrong guy and hit
him that pie and the.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
Vikings go the coverage and DK metcalf ran right past him.
It was a blown coverage. The pass was twelve yards.
It wasn't it was what Rogers did? He with his
eyes he had I know, well he did, he did.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Did you see it?
Speaker 4 (37:07):
Did you see Aeron Rodgers last year? Why would you
sign Aaron Rodgers based on what he did last year.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
With the Jets?
Speaker 4 (37:17):
I don't remember you cocking off about him last year.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
What does that have to do with this year?
Speaker 4 (37:23):
Because that's why they didn't sign him. I mean, I
think that they signed a goal with J. J. McCarthy
and they didn't sign.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
They didn't sign it.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
Wanted to go with the kid, and and and Aaron
Rodgers has been a diva for many many years.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
And that's what the coach wanted to Avo.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
It's his team, not he know that all the attention
would have been taken, It would have been taken away
from from the quarterback whisper. What are you talking if
they would have signed Rogers if all the media attention
would have been on Rodgers, none would have been on
O'Connell and his quarterback whispering ability.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
Oh that's not that's that's not something he brings up.
That's a that's a media pushed and fan pushed a situation.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
I don't think.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
Tell me the one time the KOs you got in
front of a bank of microphones and said, you know,
remember folks, I'm the quarterback whisperer.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
How do we remember him?
Speaker 4 (38:08):
He's He didn't go Sean Payton on the bit or anything.
When did he ever say that? When did O'Connell put
himself So, why are you know you're saying it's exactly
what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
You're saying. It's the way he responds to the questions.
Give me an example, Well, when they asked him about
being a court backer, goes, well, you know the way
we do things here.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
We didn't say, Well, he could have said, let's let's
let's time out in the quarterback whispers.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
Have we got a lot of time he was given?
He gave Sam Darnold a ton of credit last year,
Over and over and over again. Your narrative is falling
on deaf tones here. Common's right, Rogers here were four
and one. At least that's what someone's okay, good bad.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
I guess what.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
Rose Having a boatload of quality running backs isn't a
bad thing? Asked the nineteen sixteen Georgia Tech squad led
by coach Joe Heisman, who Georgia Tech squad nineteen sixteen.
They defeated Cumberland by a score of two hundred and
twenty two to nothing.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
So every touchdown was a running touchdown.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
All those running back for those huge egos, and I
all want to be in Canton, Ohio, would get along
just great on the team where they're gonna want to
ask you all, Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, all those guys.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
I know what.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
I know where you're going with this, but let me
just let me interject. Let's say you were at w
CCO Television and they said, Mark, we're.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Going to pay you.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
The same amount of money for doing your did you
do five nights a week? And then Rod Sports say
they said, we're going to allow you to do two
nights a week and we're going to pay you the
same amount of money. And we just said, I can't
do that. I like working you would have said two
nights instead of six, same amount of money.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
I'm in.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
So if you went to Saquon Barkley and said, instead
of getting beat up, and because we already know that
the running back position, they say it's five years and
you're done because you can beat up so bad. So
now we're telling you we're going to pay you eleven
million dollars a year. And instead of carrying the ball
twenty two times, you're gonna carry it five or six times.
You're gonna share the load with Eric Henry. You know
(40:17):
how many guys would go. That sounds good to.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Me, and that gives us a better chance to win
because we've got two. Look what Detroit's done with just.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Two running backs. That's the best until it mattered running,
that was the defense. That's the best running back combination
in pro football right now. I wish they had a
third guy. I wish they had one other really talented
running backs so you could really rotate him in it out.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
It's also because Jared Goff is a terrific quarterback and
he's got great wide receivers. It's not just because of
the running backs that their offense is excelling. Their running
backs are off the good, but you take on on safe.
I mean, you look at the laporta of those guys
and in a high quality who's hit his stride.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
That's good in general managing.
Speaker 4 (40:55):
Yes it is, But I'm saying you're making it sound
like the running backs are the reason why they're a
part of it.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
But it's not. It's not.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
It separate when the when the running game is really good,
it opens passing game. And when the passing game is
really good at all.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Well, it's an interesting theory you have, but yeah, anyway,
some day someone will try it. Maybe someday someone will
try and they'll revolution try four or five running backs,
and they'll revolutionize the game.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
They will you wait to see, they'll revolutionize the game.
I think I'll be around that. Look, well, what do
you say that for?
Speaker 4 (41:31):
You be forty years from now, better shape now than
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
So you're going to be around a lot longer than
the rest of us.
Speaker 4 (41:39):
I might I can take up a bunch of the station.
I'll probably be around longer than you start taking themselves.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Do you want to name those people they need to
take care of them. I'm not going to do that. Tenneby.
Do you think there's some people here that you need
to start taking care of themselves? Well, yeah, I don't
know if that means rosa a out loud, but no,
I probably won't.
Speaker 4 (42:01):
It's just you know, got mother, I got father, father
time as unbeaten as they say. I just hope to
see the Wolves win a championship or the Vikings win
a championship before the day Conference or the or the
or the wild obviously, now you get you need to
(42:22):
kick around a few more years. Anyway, maybe you'll be around.
We'll see you're not going anywhere. I don't know about that.
Let's see, I got the lottery numbers.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
Then, what do you think of golphers game? You know?
Speaker 4 (42:39):
Common honestly? It Yeah, the Vikings, the Vikings, the golfers
had they got the ball, the nice drive. It was
a very no I'm like being sarcastic, it was a
very nice drive, and I thought, this is kind of
their formula at least hang around for a while. And
then of course they had to settle for a field goal,
and thinking, okay, they got three out of the bid anyway,
and that was that was kind of it. I mean
(42:59):
it it's a. It's an call. It an indictment on
college football. But you know, the golfers have a have
a good football team. They're not They're not a great
football team. They're not a terrible football team. We saw
a game against Rutgers. That's you know, we're going to
see them play Perdue this week. That's where they are
in the pecking order of of these You know, you
watch Ohio State and you think, take that offensive line
(43:20):
at the Buckeyes put on the field, give them to
the Vikings on tomorrow. That's what I kept thinking, because
they're so banged up. They're just loaded everywhere. They're just
every that wide.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Receiver were fortunately and forget their offense all their defense
hasn't given up more.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Defense has given up twenty five points. Who's going to
be the games?
Speaker 4 (43:38):
Now?
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Think about that. That means, you know, they're averaging giving
up five points in game.
Speaker 4 (43:41):
Message astonishing, and they just keep reloading.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
That's what they do. They have the top four teams
out there they give a run for Well, I'm.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
Sure there are, but I don't. I think it might
be a bigger discrepancy this year than we'll see you
