Speaker 3 (00:13):
It's time for common.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Man, common man, common man, charge the housewis that going?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Can?

Speaker 4 (00:21):
What is shoot?

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Where we play an object?

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Today?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Tony man, It's time for common man?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Why should anybody aspire to be a common man? An
average man? Do you realize what it means to be average?
That means you're the best of the lousiest and the
lousiest of the best. Now, if we demand more and
more for producing less and less, while they have not
nations and courage and inspire and indeed require hard work
and maximum effort. If we deify the common man while

(00:56):
they encourage and reward the uncommon ones, the end result
of such a lopsided race, as that is too obvious
to require elaboration.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
You've got to be kidding me.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
Just keeping badly, They just keep battling, They keep badly. Okay,
calm down, yeah, Rosie, very funny, very funny.

Speaker 6 (02:32):
Who is Johnny? It is Vivaldi? He who is Johnny?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
It is rochmaninof I know nothing nothing, I'm kind of nasking.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Come, he can stick it up.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Your butt. Call it.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
What up?

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Please?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
You don't know nothing.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
He's the clown from Brown, He's the fourth in the North.
This is the common man, Dan Cole.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
Should turn on my mic, unprepared, on an unapologetic, unapologetic
that's what we are. The grum begins in five, actually
three five sounds like more than four two to one.
Great's good afternoon in act akadak and dak dack act
to you in yours. I'm the common man, Dan Cole.
Radio dinosaur lebrea tarpet cold. That rigamortis laden or at
least fossilized. Here until two truncated version. Head coach soon

(03:46):
to be Big Game World Champion Minnesota Vikings about one
fifteen or so. The legendary Mark Rosen will join us
at about two o'clock. Quarterback controversy continues to swirl the
wild Finally get off to They call it get off
the Schneid. I hope I didn't say something I'm not
supposed to. Maybe that's politically incorrect nowadays. They beat the
New York Rangers. The World the World Series is all said.

(04:06):
It's the soon to be World Series champion LA Dodgers
taking on the Toronto Blue Jays. I wonder if Rosen
for Toronto like he did Edmonton because he likes Canadian teams,
golphers others receiving votes. Minnesota Timberwolves begin their season tomorrow
night against Portland. With all those topics to get to,
I'm not sure where to begin, So let's spin the

(04:27):
wheel of top.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yeah, well, if it comes up on Commons golfing, which
I about to get work because it both have happened
day off and Commons golf game. I did play why
the game is played outdoors? I played.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
I played in a I wouldn't call it a steady rain.
It didn't start to rain until the back now, which
was really the front night cause I played the front
nine twice.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I shot eighty two. Where did we play presspect had
Wedgewood and Woodbury? Where'd you hit it on one? Right
up the god second I hit a seven iron onto
the green. Then what I two pounded?

Speaker 7 (05:02):
Four?

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Not par incredible? You know what I did?

Speaker 6 (05:05):
Actually I played the front twice and I got identical
scores in the ball. Each shot went almost exactly where
they did on the first time around. I went par bogie,
bogie bogie, par par bogie par the only oh No,
on seven the second time. Now you're familiar with Prusswick, right, Yeah,

(05:26):
So I again for the second time today, I pushed
my t shot over to the right where the maintenance
building is.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
This time I got all over there.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
This time I got all the way down to where
the little grassy swale is. And I occasionally tried this,
and I decided to There's a little alley between out
of bounds right and trees left where you can just
hit a straight shot all the way down the right side,
so that you you you avoid all the trees on
the left, and then you've got to look at the green,

(05:56):
even though you might have trees in front of you.
I hit a perfect six iron down that down that
little alley there and flip the wedge up to about
two feet and made the putt for povert. Then I
doubled nine, but it was okay. I'm I'm I'm in
the process of rebuilding my swing. I think I told
you that before. I'm now instead of doing a sway turn,

(06:17):
I'm doing strictly a turn.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
It's a work in progress.

Speaker 6 (06:22):
But when I do hit the ball, well, it goes farther,
it goes straight or sometimes I even draw it. So
it's the first day of the rest of my life.
So I was very excited about it, and season is
about to come to a close. I think tennabe. I mean,
it's possible we could play into early November, mid November, November,
even late November. Sometimes we play into December. We we'll

(06:45):
just have to wait and see.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
If that is the case.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
I wanted to direct your attention and let me see
if I can find it, because I had it right
on the top of mine.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
You might want to hit the music. I thought I
had it on the top my prep patent, which wasn't
very thick.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
Today, I'm very disappointed in you. It was basically a complaint, okay,
a complaint against the program director, and I guess in

(07:29):
indirectly well, a complaint against you as well.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Complaining in the program director by airing the ten fifth serial.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Well, yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (07:37):
Guess is basically what they what they actually said. This
was sent to Chad Abbott, and oftentimes Chad Abbott will
get emails from listeners, generally their complaints very rarely do
do does he receive compliments uh in regards to the drum,
But this game from I don't know who would, right,

(08:02):
I'll just think his name out is. His name is Joe,
and he writes wow off of a bye week and
commons where thought Vikings were your fans, number one listeners.
Great management decision. So he thought on Thursday and Friday,
I should have been here with the Vikings coming off
of bye WEEKNDS. Nobody's more insightful and plugged into the

(08:24):
Vikings than I am. Right, and you know I took
it as a compliment and a complaint. You know that
he would like to have had me there. But I
did respond to him like I always do when I said,
it's faith, family, fair ways.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Frequency, and football in that order.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
And so baby brother Peter, who I created from my loins,
my my youngest boy, he goes to the Ohio State
University and he came back for fall break, and I
wanted to spend time with my son, and so that's
where the faith family and then he likes to golf.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
So we combine family and fairways, is what we did.
And so I appreciate that he wanted me.

Speaker 6 (09:13):
On the air, that he must enjoy my insight into
the soon to be Big Game World champion Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
But intend to be for you.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
I think it's faith, family face offs than frequency, right,
because hockey is kind of your sport.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
I go does fairways even come before, well not very frequently.
Because I wish you, you wish it.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I'd like to place that higher.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah, but it's not.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
But so there are certain things that you get to
a certain stage in your life, they're just more important.
I'm very secure and where I've been, where I'm going.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Where I'm at.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
I just signed a new It's actually I didn't even realize.
They slipped in a third year on me, and I
didn't even realize it. I thought it was a two year,
And I think that'll be it for me, tondy. I'm
about to do what a lot of rare you guys
have done in this town over the years. They'll announce
the retirement like five years before they're I'm retire rent
in five Okay, Well get back to us when you
get to you your you know your four and a

(10:08):
half years or you know, four years eight months into
your retirement, you let us know. No need to tell
us now. But I think it is going to be
I'm about to make the announcement I'm going to retire
my final day on the air. You will be December
thirty first.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
Four different retirement parties for you, and then you show
back up to work somewhere else the next day.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
They don't, they don't. They don't throw parties for people
that aren't involved with the partrip moho, you know they
only do that for the party. Then I had I
received I received another email to comment at cafe and
I comment, I didn't print it because I'm lazy, and
that was the topic. He said, are you going to
talk about the Vikings quarterback controversy again? I'm paraphrasing because

(10:54):
I didn't print it because I was lazy.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
He said, are you going.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
To talk about the Vikings quarterback controversy again?

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Today?

Speaker 6 (11:00):
You keep bringing up the same old points. There are
other topics to talk about in regards.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
To this team.

Speaker 6 (11:07):
You truly are lazy, That's what he said. You truly
are lazy. And I sent back a reply and all
it said.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Was duh, I always love that one.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
Yeah, I'm I'm I'm uninformed, I'm lazy. Why do you
think we do list radio all the time? List radio
is lazy radio? Look, and you are going to bring
up the same topic and I'm going to bring up
the same topic though, I think now Mike Florio and
you know, he's the rabble rouser. He just throws say
and I like it though it's fun. It's he's he

(11:40):
and I are sort of kind of cut from the
same cloth, where you'll just throw stuff out there. He
thinks there's a distinct possibility that Max Brozemer might start
because Greens is still nursing a really bad shoulder. Let's
face it, he hasn't played particularly well. He's been okay
in spots, he's been brutal in others, and we don't
think JJ is going to be ready, So maybe Max

(12:01):
Brosmang would get.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Get the nod.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
I think I don't know if we'll find out any
more about the quarterback situation in the next few minutes,
because we're about to take a break and the head
coach of the soon to be Big Game World champion
Minnesota Vikings is scheduled to address the media live from
TCO Performance Center aka the New Winner Park. That's on
the other side of the break right now, though Tennabee
has a keyword to try to put a in our

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Thirteen fourteen past. I'm common, he is Tendabe.

Speaker 6 (13:24):
We're awaiting the arrival of the head coach of the
soon to be Big Game World champion Minnesota Vikings. I'm
assuming somebody will ask who's going to start at quarterback?
And I don't know how he'll react. If you'll remember
last week, he was during the Wednesday news conference, he
said something, It's the same answer I had for you

(13:45):
two days ago, or yesterday or the day before.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
I don't know tend Tobe who.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
I feel like he's not going to answer because I
feel like he's hiding behind the injuries on both THO.
You know, JJ McCarthy was limited yesterday, practice would leave
me leave and planning limited.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
He was mister unlim No, he was mister limited.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Is what he was.

Speaker 6 (14:05):
And I you know, I don't think Rosmer could do
any worse than either of those guys really, to be
honest with you.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
So you know, if they did go that.

Speaker 6 (14:17):
That at least that would make it interesting just to see, Uh,
you know, we know what we got with with Wentz.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
He'll make some plays.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
And he'll make some blunders. That's just that's who he is,
and and that's sort of the that's sort of the
situation they're in when Wentz is in the game. I
mean he's He put together a great drive two weeks
ago and uh completed nine of nine and they won
a game, a game they needed to win to get

(14:50):
to three and two. And then this past week made
a handful of plays. But he also he was he was.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
He made more blunders than he did make make good plays.

Speaker 6 (15:01):
He had the pick six, he had the intentional grounding,
missed a couple of other throws. He made a couple
of plays, but certainly not enough for the team to
win the game last night tend to be the Lions.
You know when they used to call Seattle's defense the

(15:21):
Legion of Doom. Yes, they're calling Detroit's defense the Legion
of whom because they were playing guys nobody's ever seen before.
Duce and I are looking at each other, goes, who's
this guy? Where they get that guy? When did this
guy get a job with the club. They didn't have
any of their original four starting defensive backs in the
lineup last night, yet the Lions defense harassed and harangued

(15:45):
Baker Mayfield and Tampa Bay last night. And I mean,
you know, they threw up a stat before the game started.
They showed Baker warming up, and it said, I think
on Monday night games, he's like one of six, and
in prime time games he's like four and thirteen. I mean,
they're really awful numbers. And you know me, I rolled

(16:10):
my eyes, I shrugged my shoulders and shook my head
and said, that's to me just coincidental. I mean, just
because he's not performed well on Monday Nights in the.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Past doesn't mean that.

Speaker 6 (16:22):
That doesn't mean he's he's he's going to perform poorly again,
but he sure didn't he. Do you remember Darnald last
year against Detroit when he when he when he threw
it over the head by yeah, he was, he was
Josh Freemanlake. He was throwing the ball over the head.
That's what Baker Mayfield did last night. He had I

(16:42):
bet he had no less than a half a dozen
overthrows where he had players open, He had them in
the seams, he had them between defensive backs, and he
just overthrew them.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
I mean, he was his own worst enemy.

Speaker 6 (16:54):
I'm not sure they would have won had they completed
those passes, but it sure would have helped. But Detroit's defense,
with a bunch of no name players in the secondary,
uh played very well last night. Gibbs is the best
running back in pro I don't you know. And everybody
can have.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Their own opinion. There's nobody better. If you watched him
last night.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
He makes most electric He makes people miss there. There
is there a faster running back in pro football once
he gets out of the open field. I don't think
there is. What they call that's when they get to
the second level. Is that what they call that? And
that's the phrase they use. He he and he can
catch the ball out of the backfield. He can block
a little bit. He had a key block last night

(17:36):
on a on a blitz. I mean, the kid can
flat out play and they.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog, you know he does.

Speaker 6 (17:45):
And you know the other guy in the backfield kind
of reminds me of that Knuckles character. Yes, you know,
I call him Sonic and Knuckles is what I could
what I would do. Their offensive line was good, you know,
they they they persevere through injuries. I thought it was
going to be As a matter of Deuce was telling
me that the over under was like fifty one and
a half because they thought it was gonna be a shootout.
And I get that because you know, Tampa Bay Tampa

(18:07):
Basemen scoring Detroit's averages, it seems like thirty thirty five
points a game.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
But the Kitties win.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
So now the Vikings find themselves sitting at the bottom
of the division. The Packers are four to one and one,
so they are in first place by winning percentage. Kiddies
are five and two and they have a buy now,
so that was a big win for Detroit. They're going
to the buy and then they get Minnesota at Pontiac
two weeks from now after the bye week.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Chicago's won four in a row.

Speaker 6 (18:37):
Now they haven't beaten a whole you know, it's not
like they've beaten the best teams in the league. But
you beat the teams when they put them in front
of you. They're four and two in the Vikings are
now three and three? Got to play the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Who all I know is if the Vikings win too
in a row, were mathematically ahead of the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
That's what is the the Chargers. What's their record now?
Are they?

Speaker 6 (19:00):
It's gone self? They are they four and three? They
played seven games? Or is that wrong because they've only
played six? Or if some teams played seven games? Yeah,
some teams that play seven. I think they're four and three,
four and three, And weren't they four and one or
were they even four three?

Speaker 3 (19:14):
Now they were three and there, three and two. Then
they barely got by the Dolphins a week ago, right,
and then lost with the colt yesterday.

Speaker 6 (19:19):
So they don't seem you know, if you remember to
That's that's the beauty of the league. I guess the
beauty in the bane of it. You look at the
season I remember when it was started. We looked at
the schedule and said, you know, the Vikings need to
make hate during these first few games because the schedule
really gets tougher. Well, I don't know Philadelphia now we lost,
but Philadelphia was coming off two consecutive losses when we

(19:43):
faced them. The Chargers, they they're one and three in
their last four games.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Detroit, now is you know? They there was another.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
Statistic they had for the kiddies last night. They've not
lost two games in a row since like two thousand
and two.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
They might lo, but they win the next week.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
They don't the kiddies you said, they said two thousand
and two and.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Twenty twenty two.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
They when they lose, they.

Speaker 6 (20:13):
They read about a winning game and that that's obviously
a sign of a good football team that you know,
they they don't let losses build and they don't go
into losing streak.

Speaker 7 (20:23):
So I I.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
I went in with you know, now, I don't know.
You know, I was a big Mayfield guy. He was
being talked about as at this point in the season. Again,
it's always early. It's the week one overreaction and week
two overreaction. All these overreactions we have, right, but you
know there there was talk that well he was at
you know what is it about a third of the

(20:49):
way through the season, he was the front runner for
the MVP or he was playing so well and last
night he just was was not good at all and then.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
They lost Who's there is it? Evans?

Speaker 6 (21:00):
Kevin's he's gone for He's They've had a lot of
wider injury. Yeah, well they were missing to start the
season with Chris.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Godwin, Jayala mcmilling. It hurt early in the year. Correct,
Evans has been hurt. And then even make a Buka
who they got from Ohio State and as a rookie, yes,
he was kind of questionable going into this game. He
ended up playing.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
But guess what, Tenneby, we don't feel sorry for other teams.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
And they're starting running backs out.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
Yes, well, we don't feel sorry for teams with injuries
because every every club goes through them, including.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
The soon to be a Big Game World Champion of
Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 6 (21:32):
We'll take a break, hopefully the cult will beginning maybe
one thirty, but we'll we'll we'll air the head coach
with the soon to be Big Game World Champion Minnesota Bikings,
Kevin O'Connell news conference.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Other side of the break Common end program on the fan.

Speaker 3 (21:52):

a charity of their choice. Just head over to kfan

That's KFA dot com keyword Contests.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
Double thirteen fourteen past I'm common East ten to b.
Mark Rosen joins us just four to two o'clock. Still
awaiting the arrival of the head coach at the soon
to be Big Game World Champion and a sort of
by against Kevin O'Connell is weekly day after the game
news conference. It will be two days or moved from
the game. They have a short week to take on
the Chargers in San Diego, Los Angeles.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
That game you'll hear it right here on the fan.

Speaker 6 (22:36):
I'm assuming our coverage begins at five and the kickoff
about seven fifteen.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
I believe it is.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Kenne Be the The LA Dodgers swept the Milliewaukee Brewers
four games to none to advance to the World Series.
They'll take on the Toronto Blue Jays, who eliminated Seattle
last night. Seattle, now, if I'm not mistaken, is the
only team and current team in Major League bas Well
has not been to a World Series. And I think
they had like a lead in the eighth, seventh or
eighth inning in Game six and ended up blowing that

(23:08):
lead and then they lost. They lost last night. But
the big story is Otani tend to be it?

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Show hay yes, show he Atani.

Speaker 6 (23:19):
He pitched six scoreless innings and had three home runs
in the game. He's only the third pitcher in Major
League Baseball history to hit three homers in the game.
One guy did it like eighteen ninety eight. The other
guy was in like nineteen forty two. Here's KOs O.

Speaker 8 (23:35):
Good, Good afternoon, guys. Obviously it's a jammed pack day
for us, getting a lot of preparation in on a
short week, you know, looking ahead to Thursday night, we
know it's going to be here before we know what.
We're doing everything we can to turn over our players.

(23:57):
We got a great staff to do it, and the
players have really process began really after the game on
Sunday night. We don't officially have full speed practice this week,
but end up getting a lot of very very important
on the field work via the walkthrough, we'll have our
guys feeling good and ready to go compete. I wanted
to give you guys just an update earlier this morning,

(24:19):
we did put JJ McCarthy through an on field workout
just to see if he had a chance to.

Speaker 4 (24:27):
Make it this week.

Speaker 8 (24:29):
You know, Jj, the medical staff, myself, we're all kind
of encouraged about where he's at and the progress he's making,
but he's just not there. And if this was a
Sunday game, maybe it would would be a little bit
of a different story and we could push it throughout
the week and see where he's at towards the end
of the week. But really I look at today almost
as the combination of Wednesday Thursday, but really it is

(24:50):
a Friday on the timeline of coming up on being
forty eight hours out from the game, So we wanted
to have a plan at the quarterback position, and it'll
be very similar to last week.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
Carson start, Max will be the backup.

Speaker 8 (25:01):
And JJ will be available in the case of emergency
as the third and like I said, encouraged about where
he's at and very much looking forward to continuing his
progression and hopefully having a chance to go next week
and we'll keep you guys posted on that, But also
wanted to make note of Aaron Jones twenty one day

(25:23):
window opening up today. That'll be something that will happen
today and we'll see where he's at potentially for his
availability on Thursday night.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
Kevin, what have you seen from Dallas Turner of on
and off the field taking on obviously a lot of
responsibility with Henry, Yeah, go out.

Speaker 8 (25:46):
You know, he's had a lot obviously a lot of
snaps and some impactful plays. I think we're asking him
to do quite a bit, especially in our emphasis of
trying to stop the run. Last week, I thought Dallas
was really really good edges against a really physical front,
you know, a hard, hard o line to rush against,
especially at the tackle spots, and wanting to try to

(26:09):
contain hurts as much as we could, maybe limited some
of the you know, creativity of some of the rushes,
but the strain to finish his use of his you
know gifts to rush the passer are being used and emphasized,
but also growing on a daily basis. So I think
Dallas is just going to continue. We can do this
week and fired up to watch him play.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
The deep balls you guys gave up. How do you
balance you haven't done that.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
In the past.

Speaker 6 (26:32):
Yeah, the fact that it happened, I mean, you can't
completely right it off.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
How do you balance them?

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Yeah? Flo Float talks about all the time.

Speaker 8 (26:38):
You know, one of the main priorities every week is
keeping the chunks off the tape and those big plays.
You know, there were some you know, obviously some some
huge plays for scores, but it's not just those. It's
also the you know, the third and long you get
you stop the run, you get them in second and
long and then into a third and long, and they
were able to make some kind of backbreaking kind of
plays to either stay on the field or in some cases,

(27:00):
as you said, those those long completions obviously got to
look at. You know, is there anything in the in
the makeup of the play, from the call to the
technique to the communication that we could do better at
and then ultimately just continue to trust in the fact
that if we continue to do the things defensively that

(27:21):
equal good principles for us, we've shown to be able
to cause disruption leads to negativity and then have chances
at turning the football over because we we've just got
to find a way to you know, make that part
of our DNA and and obviously strain and stress the
things that are really important to doing those things that
flow brought here with them with this defensive philosophy that

(27:42):
we've had a lot of success with, but got to
keep the chunks off the tape for surely work out.

Speaker 7 (27:47):
This way, just that the wildcard doesn't have enough to Yeah,
it's just really what it is is you know, I thought,
you know, I think I might even have said this
on Friday, Like I was encouraged by where you know,
he was act coming out of Friday, and then I thought,
you know, pregame, you know, got a chance to work
with him a little bit Sunday in the official warm ups,

(28:08):
and then I.

Speaker 8 (28:08):
Know, Josh, I was able to take him through some
things before we got out there officially in uniform, and
and just wanted to know kind of if if he
could possibly you know, be at a good place and
because really we'll go through first, second, and third down today,
So just having a plan in place not only for
those guys, but also just knowing, uh, you know, the

(28:30):
communication has been really good between JJ, the medical staff
and myself and just wanting to make sure everybody had
clarity going into the week. Short weeks are tough, they
are what they are, but we're attacking it and have
a lot of confidence in our team to go out
to LA and play well. But just more about the
clarity and making sure we've got we've got the right
plan for the week, well knowing we've got to continue

(28:51):
the minute to minute daily progression that he's been on.
You know, as we we still have a lot of
football left in the season.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
Say JJ's just not there yet, what kinds of thresholds
you still need to see him clear before you say
yeah he is.

Speaker 8 (29:04):
Yeah, it's been at some of the movements that that
the reactionary movements within the pocket, being able to use
his athleticism to protect himself in the pocket, and then
as he's able to work through progressions. I feel really
good about you know, the work we've done on is
on on the foundation of his fundamentals. That's been pretty
evident through the work that that he's done, and he's

(29:27):
really the commitment to doing that. It's really just about
you know, hey, there's a you know, maybe a guy
gets edged and I don't really know the movement I'm
gonna have to make. Uh that's where you know, he
still feels it. And if he doesn't have the ability
to do that pain free, you know, we obviously risk
setting him back, which would be very very unfortunate with the.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
Time lost already, but also giving him.

Speaker 8 (29:49):
The best chance to go out there and have success
is is ultimately, uh, you know what we're what we're
looking for. I really you know, having to overcome certain things.
You know, that's kind of been the story of our
season if you look at it for JJ, I mean,
whether it's you know, early on in the Chicago game,
we just didn't have a great all eleven field or
our execution than we did late in the game and

(30:10):
had a bunch of success and won that game. And
then clearly the circumstances involved in Week two made it
less than you know, ideal from a standpoint of preparing
a guy to play in a football game.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
So and now you have the injury as part of it.

Speaker 8 (30:25):
No, it's not going to be need to be something
where he's one hundred and thirty percent or we're being
you know, in a situation where we're waiting for this
metric that quite honestly, with this kind of injury, he's
got to work through some of that here late in
the rehab stages.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
But it's about his effectiveness.

Speaker 8 (30:43):
And his ability to go out and do his job
for sixty minutes without having any setbacks or making his
job more difficult than it has to be.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
Kevin or the week at center at Blake's still there now, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (30:58):
We're I think Jergs is continuing to he was available
and ready to go, and and uh, I feel like,
you know, we're we're giving both those guys some reps
this week and we'll go with what we think is
the best five for the game for sure.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Where is Carson with his health just coming out of Sunday.

Speaker 8 (31:14):
Yeah, it was a physical game obviously, you know, he
competed his tail off to the very end and was
able to steal us some first downs and take some hits,
you know, on some of those plays as well as
some of the you know, against a good interior front.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
He took some hits as well.

Speaker 8 (31:28):
He was sore, but I've been really encouraged by you know,
how fast he turned over and really didn't you know,
have you know any more setbacks or anything other than
the normal soreness after a physical game like that. So
he had a you know, already had a great walkthrough
and we'll continue to progress throughout this very very short
week to get him and all of our guys ready
to go after what was a physical game on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (31:51):
What is the key to turning after Yeah, what is
the key to turn it over so quickly from a
Sunday to a Thursday.

Speaker 8 (31:56):
Well, I think it's a lot of it is, you know,
the the recales we have both. I mean, we had
guys immediately from the time I broke down the team
starting to do something at the We're blessed to have
the facilities we do at.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
US Bank Stadium.

Speaker 8 (32:11):
And then yesterday was about getting them in, trying to
flush out whatever we could with some movement, a lift massages.
I think I think every player on our team, you know,
either got one or or had one available to them
here in house. And then we were able to kind
of you know, meet mentally, kind of absorb what we
needed to to improve from the game and then get

(32:31):
ready to start moving and and you know, you're not
flushing it from a standpoint of forgetting what happened on Sunday.
But at the same time, you've got to move forward
and prepare for a really good team, well knowing there's
some things that we you know, we could have easily,
you know, in our control, done better in the football
game on Sunday against a good team to have a
chance to win. I don't think anybody on our team,

(32:53):
you know, staff or player didn't leave us Bank Stadium
knowing that there's a lot to build off of and
you know, in a game that did not go way,
results did not go our way. But if you look
at it from a standpoint of a lot of the
positive things that we're done, and then the correctible things
that we're clearly on the tape and things for both
players and coaches were encouraged. And that's what sometimes a

(33:15):
short week can give you as a chance to take
some of that and put it into action.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
I think back to evaluating justin Herbert pre draft.

Speaker 7 (33:22):
What stands out the most to you about just the
art that he's had.

Speaker 8 (33:27):
Yeah, I think you know, he's big, he's strong, he's
very athletic. I don't I still don't know if he
gets enough credit for his athleticism. I mean the mobility
in Justin's game is real. He can hurt you in
the pocket with you know, elite arm strength and accuracy,
but then he can clearly make plays with his legs
and create to give them extended opportunities at plays down

(33:50):
the field and staying on the field, moving the chains.
And we know they want to run the football, We
know they want to do a lot of things off
of that run game. But the past game and the
weapon they have both the guys that you know are
known guys, and they've got you know, some guys really
merging as well on that offensive side, you know, getting
some real opportunities. So yeah, I just remember seeing a

(34:11):
guy that you know, in that kind of spread, no
huddle system at Oregon, you could still see a player
with the skill set that would really fit any NFL offense.
And that's absolutely become an accurate statement. You know this,
you know not only where he's at, but I think
he's still an as sending player as well.

Speaker 4 (34:28):
He's a very very impressive player.

Speaker 6 (34:30):
And what is it what is a the return games
that great but it's obviously improved.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Yeah, what does Miles Price give you that maybe you.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
Didn't have before?

Speaker 8 (34:38):
Yeah, I think it's a combination of Miles has and
we noticed this.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
Very early mark.

Speaker 8 (34:42):
We like, you've got to have the ability to make
somebody miss at the first level. And what I mean
by that is like you can block up you know,
your hold up guys in the punt return or the
schematics of the dynamic kickoff. You can get some things started,
but it's normally to get them over the line of
just a decent return for somewhat good field position too,

(35:04):
like you did in the second half the other day.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
Get you near midfield or beyond.

Speaker 8 (35:08):
It's going to require him to make somebody miss or
make a cut, make a change of direction move that
will give him a chance to then restart the engines
and hopefully have a chance to take at the distance.
He's been able to flip the field on some punt
returns that have been huge in some moments, and a
couple of those have been called back via penalty that
we're you know, bang bang close plays. But you know,

(35:28):
I think he's been a real positive for us and
what has become with what we're all learning in the
dynamic kickoff, the field position battle, even the subtle change
that has been made to so many more balls get
in returned, the starting field position has moved forward. All
you need is one first down and then you're essentially
almost in a sky punt backed up situation.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
You know. So I think things.

Speaker 8 (35:50):
Are evolving and changing due to what we're seeing not
only in the dynamic kickoff, but then how the field
position affects the type of punts and return ops you're
going to have in that phase as well.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Low number of fair catches?

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Is that something you guys encourage as at his.

Speaker 8 (36:06):
Personality decision making from a standpoint of you know, his
trust and the ten guys in front of him, but
then also he's just got a confidence and a belief.
You know, it takes a certain kind of individual to
go back there, and and you know you're on an
island back there. These punters are wildly talented putting the
ball where they want and different types of spin and rotation.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
On the ball.

Speaker 8 (36:27):
He's a he's he's caught the ball very well, and
then you know he feels like he's got the ability
to change the game every time he touches it, which
is the type of characteristic you want a guy that's
going to go back there.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
That's one chance does Aaron Jones have to go thirst
in eight.

Speaker 8 (36:43):
Yeah, you know, he's been He's a guy that you
you don't need to, you don't need to really kind
of get out there and test too much because you
know in his rehab and the work he's done on
the side fields, he's a veteran player. He knows what
he has to do, he knows what he needs to
feel like. And then you know, we'll we'll be smart
with Aaron, you know, but at the same time, we

(37:05):
know the you know, he's here for a reason and
we know what he can bring to our offense. So
we'll see how he responds. He's gonna because he didn't
play on Sunday, he can do a little bit more
either with the trainers or you know, side work in
conjunction with what he's doing in the walk through to
mentally prepare to kind of figure out where he'll be
at on Thursday.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Thanks everyone, favorite open, Thank you.

Speaker 6 (37:30):
Whoops having a iceberg let us salad with some califlower
and some sur white steak. Sorry about that. Oh now
I got to turn on my microphone, am I hold?

Speaker 2 (37:43):
I got to speaker.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Yeah, I was just gonna run in there. Speaker's too loud.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
Well, it wasn't because my microphone was on, so it
was in a good spot where I could hear him.
Because I don't like to wear my headset when it's
not necessary, because you wear a headset for forty years
in radio and it starts to affect your hear. And
I've told you what I planned to do once I'm fired,
which is inevitable.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
I just don't know when it's going to be.

Speaker 6 (38:06):
I'm going to file a class action lawsuit and get
all other disc jockeys together with me, and I'm gonna
sue all the companies I work for and say because
I was forced to wear headsets for all those years,
it's damaged my hearing.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
And I'll get to court and they'll call me to
the witness stand.

Speaker 6 (38:23):
They'll say, do you swear to tell the truth, the
whole truth, so some semblance of the truth. So help
me God, I'll go. I beg your pardon case clothes,
I win, right? Could you repeat that? And I'll make millions,
millions of dollars is what I'll do. Well, I you
know again, I think this is I think everybody's waiting

(38:48):
to hear who will start a quarterback and will once
again be Carson Wentz. Yeah, apparently McCarthy went through.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Some drills today at.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
The TCO Performance Center practice facility and just not quite
there yet, ten tomy, just not quite there. And on
a short week with the games two days away, they've
decided that JJ McCarthy will serve as the emergency quarterback again,
Carson Wentz will start. Max Brosmer will be the backup quarterback.

(39:20):
And it really doesn't come as a surprise to me,
nor does it to you. I don't think I suppose
it's possible had you know, and I you know, I
know there's a theory out there, and I think maybe
you even espouse it, if that's the right word.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
I know you have a spouse.

Speaker 6 (39:39):
I think you believe that it might be like what
did you call it, like a soft.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Injury or a soft bench, a soft bench.

Speaker 6 (39:45):
In other words, it's like it's it's almost convenient that
he has a tweaked ankle, because then he go just
not ready, you know, because you really look at his
performance in those first two games, and other than the
one quarter, you go, gosh, if we're still trying to
win football games here, do we want to eventually turn
the team over to him. But we have an older

(40:07):
roster and coming up a fourteen win season, and I
thought we could win with him right away. I thought,
with all the pieces we had in place, we could
because I am, I feel like I'm and the coaches said,
he thinks he's good at coaching quarterbacks. We could coach
him up and maybe we can win some games. Maybe
they still feel that way, you know, again he was
There's always going to be some highs and.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Lows when a kid is starting at quarterback.

Speaker 6 (40:30):
There's just been so many lows here that maybe they decided, well,
we got to play this out with Wentz at least.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
For a couple of weeks, three four weeks, see where
we're at.

Speaker 6 (40:38):
And if we lose to the Chargers on the road
and wins isn't very good, well then you know what
the hell?

Speaker 3 (40:45):
Now, Let's say Wentz has a first half similar to
his first half against Philadelphia. Okay, two bad interceptions. Could
we see Brosmer at some point Thursday night? Do they
want to go, Hey, if we got to see what
we got, let's take a look look at him before
we go back to JJ.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
I suppose it's possible.

Speaker 6 (41:07):
I mean, everything they've said about Brosemer, and you know
he played some in the preseason, correct, Yeah, and he
played pretty well.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
So it's like, and it is at the end.

Speaker 6 (41:18):
Of the day, it is just football, you know, And
it's like, well, if you are planning to keep Brosemer, like, look, look,
if if it all works out, McCarthy will be starting
in the next few weeks. They might even tell Wentz,
hey it was it was great, but we're moving on

(41:38):
and you know, turning.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
Your playbook and just go with Brozmur to and find
another quarterback. They could. I don't think so, but do
im saying saying I think.

Speaker 6 (41:46):
Brosemur is more in the long term plans and wins. Sure,
so maybe they. So if you do plan to keep
Brosemer on the team as your backup quarterback, you probably
would like to see him get some actions.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
So that's distinctly pop.

Speaker 6 (42:00):
But I think the way you spelled it out, if
Wentz struggles against San Diego on Thursday night, the second half,
you could see Max Prosner. I know, we can see
Mark Rosen. We're gonna see him next here on the
