Speaker 4 (00:34):
Why should anybody aspire to be a common man? An
average man? Do you realize what it means to be average?
That means you're the best of the lousiest and the
lousiest of the best. Now, if we demand more and
more for producing less and less while they have not,
nations encourage and inspire and indeed require hard work and
maximum effort. If we deify the common man while they

(00:57):
encourage and reward the uncommon ones. The end result of
such a lopsided races that is too obvious to require elaboration.

Speaker 5 (01:05):

I understand the weather pattern. Pick up the calcat a clipper,
swings down, swings up lake front, influence and out. I
think we'll probably have about forty five degree weather, so
it will not be a typical October thirty.

uh the pain, yeah of avatar wild zempick hughes empic
uh yeah, hugh zempic.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
We probably should we we we have quinnaicillin. You know
what we really should do is and I thought of
this immediately if you want to put the work into it.
But mind guess you're gonna be out the rest of
the week with with with avatar. But you've heard the
song Quinn the Mighty Eskimo, right it goes, come on with.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
It, come on that You've not seen nothing like the
Mighty Quinn.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah that one?

Speaker 3 (06:01):
So how could that be?

Speaker 5 (06:02):
You know, you could have Quinn shoot scores, you've not
seen nothing like the Mighty Quinn. Be a great montage,
like I probably should have suggested the two after we
made the trade, and especially after the way he just tea.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
I mean, it's like he didn't skip a beat.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
It's not like he have to get his well, you
don't get your feet wet on the ice anyways, because
he are a skates but didn't have to get his
feet wet, didn't have to you know, adjust to a
different style of play or new surroundings or you know,
he didn't have to worry about jet lag or body
circadian rhythms. How about when Garren went out to pick
him up in in Leepol's private jet, did you see

(06:42):
Leephole didn't go?

Speaker 3 (06:43):
You know, why can't miss a game?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
So he stuck? Maybe the real answers he's becoming a
minority owner with the Twins?

Speaker 9 (06:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Always is he one of the guys?

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yeah? Okay, business to take care of you. Because he
said that, he goes.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
I can't miss a game, and that's I get that.
I know how he is. But you talk about being
a rube couldn't miss one game?

Speaker 5 (07:07):
Because why didn't you tell me that when if you're
in the suite with him, if you get invited, which.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Have you been invited? Have you sent in the suitep
before you've been there.

Speaker 10 (07:17):
Right, every year there's a preseason game in which they
invite the media.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
Okay, but you can't send right extrafe there's each seat
on either side of him because he's throwing elbows around
and jumping up and down and doing that whole thing.

Speaker 10 (07:29):
Which he does it for like good luck purposes. I
would think, after a while, you go, maybe that good
luck thing ain't working well.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Give yourself a negatroumeters there.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Uh hold on, I can do it to myself.

Speaker 10 (07:45):
Ah, the times they aren't changing, because we got quinnacill in.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
We're coming, We're coming.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
I was before the drums started. I like spending some
time over in the sales stable, right, for several reasons.
One mostly it's selfish, passed through with faith, family, fairways
and finances.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
So I'd just spent my time over there.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
Rattle in the cages, and we have we have a
number of hip now with it, while young kids that
are that are selling for iHeart and with ratings like this,
a dog with an out in its mouth could sell
the fan. So I looked at it, and selmoone I said,
because he loved saying that dog with an out, he

(08:30):
said it at his Hall of Fame induction, except he
did he left out that he was going to say
the fan. And he didn't you ever notice that because
his last stop was WCC. He knew he ran all
the stations here, so he didn't want to single out
the fan. But in that little clip we have from his, a.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Dog with a note in his mouth should be able
to sell those ratings. See it sounds like he you know,
he knew his dog with an out in his mouth
could sell the fan, but he changed it. And that's
when we ran the ads for I know I've.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
Told this before. It's one of my favorites. I said,
we're running ads on the air looking for sales. Yeah,
we need some fresh blood in here. I go, why
don't we just go down to the Humane Society and
adopt a couple of dogs. That's how he used to laugh.
But some of these sales guys, they're hardcore when it

(09:20):
comes to their well Clayton, who I just adore, great kid,
new follow Congratulations again to he and his wife.

Speaker 10 (09:30):
What phenomenal salespersonically does a lot of great stuff.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
He I said, So if now that your season's basically over,
the kiddies make it to the playoffs, can you form?

Speaker 9 (09:43):
Not a chance?

Speaker 3 (09:44):
He can't root for anybody in the north.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
And he's like you and that he loved New England
and he loved Kansas City, New England. Yeah, well when
they were winning, when they were not now the Brady
area because he's like like a lot of people where
he admires dominance, right, he admires. That's the word I'm

(10:09):
looking for, not dominance, but he I go a dominance worse.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, I know you're talking. I can't think of the word.

Speaker 9 (10:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
He he likes dynasties. He likes dynasties. I said, well,
then do you like common And I thought, well, that's
not a good comparison, Algy. I wouldn't consider us a dynasty.
We're working on it.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
But I'm glad I'm not that way. Yeah, I'm not
that way though, I'm really not.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
I I mean I I'm a fraud of the certain
extens I can't root for Green Bay.

Speaker 11 (10:36):
But like.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
If the kiddies, you know, now that the Vikings are eliminated,
kitties have they got to go three and oh, neither
the Bears or Packers go one and two and they're
in that's how simple it is.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
And both teams could go one and two because they
have tough schedules. But I could root for the Bears easily.
And I'm the opposite.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
I I I don't mind watching Kansas City like the
first big game and then maybe their second big game
and then maybe the but after a while, it's like,
I want new blood.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
So I love that Kansas City's out. I I just did.
I love that case ses out. I saw a note today.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
It's the first time since ninety eight that we haven't
had a Manning, a Brady or Mahomes in the place,
And I say, hallo, do you I just I like
seeing other I want I want the new guard. I
want new kids to take over. I like watching teams
that haven't done very well in a number of years.
And believe it or not, I know you find this
crazy as much as I. I'm actually rooting for Pittsburgh

(11:37):
and a RODJ.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Can you do that?

Speaker 9 (11:38):
I am.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
I'm rooting for a Rock That's right, No, no, no,
to make the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
You're playing this week?

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Well yeah, but well not this week. I'm talking about.
I want to see them beat the Ravens and get
to postseason play. Absolutely, I did that. I want to
see a rod winging it around the old Paul. I mean,
they're not going to win the Big Game, but used
to be fun of watching them in postseason play.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Well, pause will come back up.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
Peek at the purple on the other side of the break,
and I had a really good tease for peak at
the purple. Oh, I think the head coach did someone
or a favor, an old friend.

Speaker 10 (12:12):
And we'll explain on the sidetaking head coach. We're supposed
to a press conference.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
That's right, We'll do that and then we'll peek at
the purple. We got plenty to get to rock Talk,
Rosen and much more here in the common rom the fan.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Babies cry.

Speaker 10 (12:30):

lifelong injuries. Learn more at never shake mn dot com.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
I hate passwords pass coaches, you know, I thought it
was It's a good thing. I don't like.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
I'm not in charge of mission control in Houston. We're
waiting the arrival of the head coach of the soon
to be Big Game World champion Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 6 (13:23):

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Mark Craig writes for fish Wrap Factory Westside, NFL writer.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
He also votes in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Started his career in Canton, Ohio, of all places, wrote
for the Campton Daily Bugle, and now I write for
fish Wrap Factory west Side. Today is piece as analysis.
Vikings will Rekerd with possible boosts from new k ball rules,
is helping Kickers shatter NFL records. Here's what he writes
to me, the NFL had four sixty yard field goals

(14:52):
from nineteen twenty to two thousand and six. Four it's
had eight and fifteen weeks this season. What's is that
all about? And it's about the new rules for the
caball the Vikings long snapper Andy is a dupala dupala,
He says, quote new CA ball rules certainly hasn't hurt distance.

(15:14):
For years, teams had only one hour on game day
to break in three new footballs.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
To be used to kicking pond. Here's what he said.

Speaker 5 (15:22):
What Andy said, Your equipment guys would scramble each week.
They'd spend forty five minutes breaking in ball one, fifteen
minutes on ball two, and barely touch ball three. It
was different in New England during Brady's times because they
would also spend a few minutes on the regular balls,
putting the right putting in the right amount of air
pounder square inch that that Brady preferred. This year, Tenaby,

(15:46):
each team was given sixty new k balls at the
start of training camp to break in at their leisure.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Do you say leisure or leisure? I'm a leisure guy,
but I like saying leisure.

Speaker 5 (15:58):
This year, each team is given sixty new cave balls
at the start a training camp to break in at
their leisure.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Here's what Andy said.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
You really want to get that brush with the bristles
and wear down the shine the nubs and use the
floor to break in the ends, and you want to
get it real. Sweaty dark ball is a good sign
you got a good one. And that's where we really
missed Greg Garrett Bradbury because with his sweaty if you remember,

(16:29):
he has a sweaty butt. That's what Kirk Cousin said,
so he would be able to get those k ball
sweaty wall. We won't even have to go to the caball.
We just used the ball that was already on the
field because that one was sweaty. Where did he he's
in New England. How are they doing field goal kicking wise?
I wonder I wonderful he's doing all right. The change

(16:51):
this year came after seventeams, the Vikings, Baltimore, Cleveland, Houston, Philly,
Las Vegas, and Washington made a proposal to reduce the
res on equipment staffs on game day. I didn't know
there was a lot of stress on the equipment staffs
during game day. I thought you just got to the
stadium early and you hung up a jersey in each

(17:12):
guy's locker, whatever color they were wearing, that they better.
I thought you could start that earlier in the week, right,
I mean, you kind of know what jersey you're wearing
before the week starts. Now, maybe on road games because
you got to pack everything into the steamer trunks, right,
But I didn't think there was a lot of stress on.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
Equipment. On equipment, people.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
It set rikers as quarterbacks for years have been able
to get the ball exactly how they like it. We
know all about that, especially in New England. The league
did the same for kickers while making things easier on equipment.
Guys on game day, teams can practice with the caballs
and use the same ball in up to three games.
I don't know how they I don't know how they

(17:57):
monitor that, right, How do they enforce that?

Speaker 3 (18:01):
It does?

Speaker 5 (18:01):
Somebody for the NFL put a little like he has
a little sharpie and puts a little mark on it
and says, okay, one.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Game here, two and three, and then once it's three,
it's over.

Speaker 9 (18:10):
Right.

Speaker 5 (18:16):
Andy said, we had a favorite ball earlier early this
year that we took out of the rotation to use
at green Bay all. So, in other words, they used
it for like two games and then when we liked
this ball and for green Bay because we hate green Bay.
Plus wasn't it at Curly Yeah, so maybe they felt
like it was a better ball to be used at

(18:38):
in the uh on the frozen tundra of Curly lambeau Field.
It says accuracy from longer distances has been trending up
for years. The record for most fifty yard field goals
made has been broken in each of the past five seasons.
A year ago, one hundred and ninety five of two
hundred and seventy nine attempts were successful, just under seventy percent.

(18:58):
This season sixty seven point one twenty four.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
The biggest difference this year has been the record eight
sixty yards.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
So that explains it, because I have I've never wondered aloud.
I've always just wondered to myself as I and I
thought it was just here's Koc, the head coach of
a soon to be a big game world champion.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
I it sounded like.

Speaker 7 (19:22):
Sand By stand by. It good afternoon, guys, you know,
important week for our team. Looking forward to the challenge
of going on the road back to back weeks, you know,
trying to stack a third positive performance in a row
as a team.

Speaker 9 (19:38):
And uh, you know, got a lot of respect for Mike,
known him a long time.

Speaker 7 (19:42):
I think he's doing a really good job in in
uh you know, in in his current role as the
head coach there.

Speaker 9 (19:48):
And guys are playing hard.

Speaker 7 (19:49):
They've got a lot of really good young players, aggressive
talented defense we talked about a little bit earlier in
the week, and you know, we need to continue to
play in all three phases, you know, the style of game,
and and most importantly the consistency factor that we've found
as a team as of late so important for us.

Speaker 9 (20:10):
We will open up Gavin Bartholomew's window.

Speaker 7 (20:13):
Today so he can begin, uh practicing, and then in
addition to Jonathan Garnard, who will head to injury deserve
Josh Mattelis, did you know we've just been evaluating that
shoulder kind of on a weekend and week out basis,
and got home late Sunday and then you know, through
some of the you know, the medical evaluations on Monday

(20:35):
and into yesterday, you know, it's been determined he's going
to get his shoulder fixed as well, just not not
the you know, stable enough to you know, from a
medical perspective, and Tyler and his group and our doctors
and Josh feel like this is the right time to
not risk possibly injuring it, you know, anymore, and go

(20:55):
ahead and get that thing fixed. So can't you know,
kind of along the same lines as Jag one of
our one of our captains and a guy that you know,
I couldnt respect more for the toughness he's shown playing
with that injury, you know. Here as we've kind of
approached the tail end of the season and just pushed
through a lot this year, continuing to lead at such

(21:17):
a high standard, and both.

Speaker 9 (21:19):
Those guys are going to be heavily involved still.

Speaker 7 (21:21):
Around our team in the locker room and continue to
push this team to try to finish the way we
want to here, you know, stacking some good December performances
on what we were able to do in December a
year ago, and that's that's that's our goal. And winning
in December is always important for any organization, even in
even in years where maybe it might not lead to
a ticket into the dance. And we know that, but

(21:44):
we also know how important it is to stack back
to back years of playing well in December for what
it will mean moving forward for us as an organization.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
Than Kevil.

Speaker 10 (21:54):
With Josh is injury, Just who do you expect to
step up defensively for him?

Speaker 7 (21:58):
Yeah, I think obviously, you know, Harry doing the things
that he's he does will not change. But I think
you'll see Jay warden a little in a little bit
more of some of those packages.

Speaker 9 (22:09):
Obviously we've tried to get Jay Ward.

Speaker 7 (22:11):
On the field a little bit more in different circumstances,
you know, at the corner position, at the safety position
here and there, just by the type of season he's
had and the growth that he's had. So I think
it'll be a great opportunity for him to continue kind
of building upon the positive things he's been doing. And
then obviously THEO in the back end kind of in
his normal role in the deep part of the field.

(22:34):
So it's really a Jay Ward thing and something that
I know Josh will be right there with him. He'll
probably be you know, on the field. We'll probably have
to hold him back from being out there, you know,
as the player coach that you have the feel of
with his leadership, and his impact on our team in general.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
With players in this stretchment that are going through injuries,
I know the medical department is probably leading those decisions.

Speaker 9 (22:57):
How much of that comes out of a player making a.

Speaker 7 (22:59):
Call of.

Speaker 9 (23:01):
No, it's it's a it's a medical thing.

Speaker 7 (23:04):
It's a it's kind of where they're at from a
standpoint of, you know, the conversations that go on each
and every one of these Mondays and tuesdays after some
of these games, and these guys have been toughing it
out and trying to do everything they can. But yeah,
it's it's more medical, medical based decision than anything, as
most of, if not all, those decisions are, and in

(23:26):
the end, the player and and that group kind of
getting together and deciding what's best for them.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Christian Narrasa, you guys get a point on all where
you think about shutting him down to the years.

Speaker 7 (23:37):
I say, I think right now, we're just in the
mindset of, you know, taking it a day at a time,
and obviously Christian has constant dialogue with our medical staff
and and Tyler and his group to to just kind
of chart the best path moving forward really on a
day to day basis right now.

Speaker 9 (23:54):
But if anything changes with that, we'll we'll definitely update you. Yeah,
it was coming off.

Speaker 7 (23:59):
The Lake game on Sunday and late in the year,
so he will he will not take part today in
that just with these.

Speaker 9 (24:07):
Walk throughs were out there for a good chunk of time.

Speaker 7 (24:09):
We actually get more plays in this setting than we
do when we're practicing full speed, so we'll try to
maximize that time. And you know, he'll, you know, justin school,
will take take a lot of those reps, but we'll
get Blake some reps as well.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
Ken.

Speaker 11 (24:25):
When he has brought Eric Wilson back this year, what
was your expectations for him and then what's allowed him
to play.

Speaker 7 (24:33):
I just remember coming away from both of our games
last year against Green Bay thinking, you know, I obviously
wasn't here with with you will previously, but I just
remember hearing the way people talked about him, the type
of person he was, the you know, the physicality he
played with the football.

Speaker 9 (24:50):
IQ. I was excited about.

Speaker 7 (24:53):
The idea of bringing him back, just knowing that we
had competed against him, and he jumped off the tape
to me, you know, playing a many snaps as he
did last year for Green Bay and just wanted to
see if it would be possible to get a player
like that in that linebacker room. And and he's he
has exceeded you know, all of you know, my own
personal expectations, which were really high for him. I can

(25:15):
remember talking to him when he was making his decision,
because there was multiple suitors kind of talking to him
about playing for them, and I just thought, you know, hey,
your ability to play this game both physically but also
above the neck too, is a perfect fit for what
Flow and his guys do, and and I think it could.

Speaker 9 (25:34):
Be a really really good fit.

Speaker 7 (25:36):
And he agreed, and and he's made that all come
to life by him and his play and really assuming
a leadership role in a lot of ways on our
team along with Cash and some of our other guys
right up there with you know, Harry Mattelis and jg
as our captains.

Speaker 12 (25:50):
Kevin Monday you might have mentioned Ryan Kelly came out
of the game with something is.

Speaker 9 (25:54):
Yeah, he's just a little niece soreness.

Speaker 7 (25:57):
You know, we'll be we'll be monitoring him throughout the work,
but you know, he's he's really highlighting just since he's returned.
You know what that's meant for our offense, and just's
he's playing physical, he's total command. So obviously a guy
with that kind of experience. You know, you're really at
this point in the year just trying to navigate a
path to get him prepared to play, but also make

(26:21):
sure we get him to the game feeling as good
as we can.

Speaker 12 (26:23):
You mentioned abdual Carter, but just what do you see
on tape with the challenge that he presents.

Speaker 9 (26:28):
Yeah, well, first and foremost, I think Brian Burns.

Speaker 7 (26:30):
You know, if if Miles Garrett wasn't sacking everybody, I think,
you know, the whole league would probably be talking about
Brian Burns a little bit more. You can just such
an elite athlete, explosive, has really developed his total repertoire
pass rush moves. He's physical on the early down, so
that's obviously a starting point. And then the talent jumps

(26:52):
off the tape with abdual Carter, and you can see it.

Speaker 9 (26:55):
You can see it evaluating them.

Speaker 7 (26:57):
Last year before, you know, before the draft, we knew
he would be you know, along off the board, you know,
by the time we picked. But what I thought was
really really impressive though watching him was the versatility of
being able to line up you know, on the edge
on the interior. He plays off the ball and looks
incredibly comfortable doing that. So you know, you really see

(27:19):
a guy, you know, coming into his own here as
the experience is kind of stacked up for him.

Speaker 9 (27:24):
And we've got to know.

Speaker 7 (27:25):
Where both those guys are, you know, and and it's
it's an easy week to you know, look at their
defense and say, we got to know where a lot
of guys are ninety seven. You know, there's very few,
very few guys. We just played a really good one,
a really good group in Dallas. But you know, I'd
put this group right there as far as the totality
of their front with the edge players, and that's not

(27:46):
even its possible.

Speaker 9 (27:48):
They get they get Thiboeau back as well.

Speaker 7 (27:50):
So they've got a very deep group, athletic, explosive twidgy
and then they've got the power and the size inside
to really disrupt a lot of things offenses.

Speaker 11 (28:00):
Do Dallas Turner as he steps into that Jonathan Grenard
role for the remainder of.

Speaker 7 (28:06):
The year, Yeah, I think you know, you look at Dallas'
year and he's been ascending. In my opinion, throughout the
year and really being asked to do totally two totally
separate jobs at different points in time, whether that was
stepping in for Gink that's a very unique role here
and then you know, at times getting to step in
for for JG here, where it's I think it's a

(28:28):
little bit more of a natural fit in that position,
just you know, you know what we call that rush
position a little bit more going forward, his play style,
play strength, his athleticism, I think he's got a great opportunity,
you know, and he's been him and JG have become
really close, which has been awesome to see.

Speaker 9 (28:46):
And that's one of the things you know.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
In my dialogue with JG this week of like how
excited he is to to kind of, you know, now
be able to take like an absolute role with Dallas,
knowing that he can't be out there himself, but he
can certainly have an impact on Dallas.

Speaker 9 (29:02):
And that's just the type of people that.

Speaker 7 (29:04):
Jonathan Gernardin and Josh mctelis are, and they're going to
be Their impact is still going to be massive for
us here over these next three weeks.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
And we talk a lot about the adjustments to offense
things like that.

Speaker 12 (29:15):
How do you feel like this offense has sort of
morphed throughout the year with some of the different challenges
you've dealt with to get to this point where JJ
has looked comfortable in the last two weeks.

Speaker 7 (29:25):
Yeah, I think, you know, it's a lot of it
has been just navigating the group up front throughout the year,
depending on the opponent, depending on you know, things we
need to make sure we you know, still put together
in a competitive way where we're playing against maybe some
elite rushes without our total group up there upfront. We've
had to navigate that, But yeah, I think we've you know,

(29:46):
it's all part of staying true to the foundation of
a lot of the things that we do, maybe just
doing it out of you know, different personnel groupings and
then trying to pinpoint each week, you know, the benefit
of of running plays out of certain groupings, and a
lot of it has been has coincided with being able
to run the football and try to stay efficient so

(30:07):
that you know, it's it's it's great to be able
to put some of those bigger groupings out there, but
it's very very much an easy thing to do when
you're in second and six or less, and the run
pass scales don't tip one way or the other, and
you can truly be multiple out of those groupings. The
second and ten pluses, you can put whatever grouping out

(30:27):
there you want. But a lot of times the defense
has already put their nickel or dime defense out there.

Speaker 9 (30:32):
So I think it all kind of works together.

Speaker 7 (30:35):
But yeah, I think, you know, getting c J Ham,
you know, back and going, you know, allowing us to
have some of those you know, backfield sets, and then
you know, obviously with the depth, we feel like we
have at tight end activating that group all well, knowing
that you know, when called upon justin Jordan and SPEEDI
are all making plays at the receiver position, and you know,

(30:57):
we're activating our backs a little bit as well too,
running past as much as we possibly can. So it's
a complete kind of you know, I don't I don't
really know if you can point to one particular area.
I know that becomes a job requirement for you guys,
but unfortunately that's not one for me, so I would
just leave it at that.

Speaker 9 (31:15):
Can You talked last week about Jordan Addison's growth on
the field.

Speaker 12 (31:18):
Curious what your assessment is of him off the field
and his security wise and that sort of thing as
the season has.

Speaker 9 (31:23):
Kind of come. Yeah, I think it's a great question.

Speaker 7 (31:26):
And I think you know, throughout the time he was
forced to be away from us early on in the year,
you know, he before going into it, knowing that it
was kind of coming.

Speaker 9 (31:37):
There was really a lot of dialogue there about you.

Speaker 7 (31:40):
Know, kind of the expectations and then coming out of that,
just the excitement of having him back in the building
and then kind of the roadmap for him to continue
to grow and and you know on the field as well,
most importantly as off and he's done that, he's really
assumed he's it's different because he's not the.

Speaker 9 (31:58):
Most vocal guy the world.

Speaker 7 (32:00):
But as I've talked to him about, as he grows
and and kind of gains experience and you know, matures
a little bit, which is naturally came into the league
as a very young player that can be a real,
real useful thing as a great teammate that he is
to other guys, and you feel that a little bit.
You just feel his energy, the positivity every day. You know,

(32:22):
he's got a million dollar smile and energy and makes
our team better on a daily basis.

Speaker 9 (32:28):
By bringing that.

Speaker 7 (32:28):
When you compare that with what Justin brings to our team,
it's a pretty dynamic, you know, a group of guys,
and that's not even talking about you know, Speedy and
what he's brought.

Speaker 11 (32:37):
Kevin Naylor's development been linear and then it's just every
year he seems like he gets a little bit better.

Speaker 9 (32:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (32:43):
Really, I mean I can remember early on, even at
rookie Minnie camp and when he first got here. It
feels like a long time ago, but it really isn't.
And you can feel his physical impact, his ability to
get open, catch the ball, his willingness to be a
three down player and potentially assume that inside position. The
only thing that ever held him back was just staying

(33:04):
staying healthy. And now that he's been able to do
that for a pretty consistent amount of time, I think
we've all seen what he's capable of doing and why
we were so excited about getting them even where we did,
and just the development journey of having a coach like
Keenan McCardell and being in our offense and system.

Speaker 9 (33:22):
He can play all.

Speaker 7 (33:23):
Three spots, he can do just about any job. He
can win versus man coverage, he's got great feel for
his ownes and and and then he's proven now he
can make contested catches with some huge, huge plays Sunday night.
But you go back to Detroit and the end of
game play there, and even going back to last year
when he had to step in uh for for Jordan

(33:43):
when he was had his ankle early on in the year.
He just made plays and has just continued to you know,
have that upward trajectory.

Speaker 9 (33:51):
And I'm really really proud of him.

Speaker 7 (33:53):
And it's a great example of what you know, we
hope to do with young players of guys coming in
you know, maybe where there's not a clear path early
for a defined role, but there's absolutely clear path for
growth and development and being ready when your numbers called
upon and speed. He's done everything we've ever asked to
him and more so, really really happy and proud of him.

Speaker 9 (34:13):
You mentioned the relationship with my Cata or where did
you get to know?

Speaker 7 (34:17):
Yeah, we were you know, we're both i think playing
around the same time, but just over the years, you know,
whether you know when he was in Kansas City or
seeing him at the Combine and spending some time with him,
you know, his former quarterbacks kind of getting into this,
and you know, there's unique relationships your form along the way,
and just staying in touch with him or a guy

(34:39):
like Ken Dorsey seeing him last week, you know, and
doing well in Dallas, and then obviously you know it's
been well well charted my multiple involuntary stops around the
league where I got to know a lot of folks.
So there's a lot of different layers to those relationships
and we're all so it's a tough job sometimes when
you're all kind of in it together in many ways.

(34:59):
He even know, when the ball gets kicked off on Sunday,
everybody's competing to do whatever they can to win.

Speaker 9 (35:04):
That's one.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Kevin, just what's your evaluation of Jackson Dartan just kind
of his play style as av Yeah.

Speaker 7 (35:11):
You know the play I think his play style is playmaking,
whether that's design runs, whether that's off schedule plays.

Speaker 9 (35:19):
Uh, he can make a lot of really unique throws.

Speaker 7 (35:22):
You've seen him attack the middle to deeper part of
the field on schedule, off schedule, and then I think,
you know what's what's held up is that competitiveness and
applying some of those things where maybe it's you know,
as he grows and develops, you'll see more and more
plays that you know he's playing in rhythm and going
through progressions. But you know, for right now he's he's

(35:43):
doing those things, but he's not missing out on an
op to take advantage of an undisciplined rush or if
you're not accounting for him in some of those shotgun
runs and where he can pull it, or he's part
of the scheme altogether. You know, he's he's turned himself
into a playmaker early on, and one that's really kind
of ignited their offense too, to compete and move and

(36:04):
score points. And you know, they've got some other impactful players.
I think, you know, Wandel Robinson's had a really good season.
You know, you look at Theo Johnson as a big
you know target running real you know, real route trees
and running down the seams is a weapon. And then
I think all of their backs, you know, I know
they lost the Scataboo, but I think all their backs
over the course of the season have been you know,

(36:25):
hard running, good vision, downhill guys that you if you
don't do a good job defensively, they'll stay efficient, stay efficient.
And then Jackson will make one of those plays and
and kind of change the whole dynamic of a game.

Speaker 9 (36:38):
So it's it's gonna be a challenge for us. Matt,
go ahead everywhere.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
I just wanted to.

Speaker 12 (36:42):
I know you got the sweater on, but how would
you describe the the value of the if that's allowed
to wear? So, Matt, the just the value of the
the specialists this year, just the season there, Ryan and
willis like, what what value have have.

Speaker 9 (37:00):
You put on that? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (37:01):
I think you can just look at it from a
standpoint of whether it's the other night even you know,
we wanted to get off to a fast start in
the football game, and we did not bounce to the
ball tipball, and all of a sudden, a fake field
goal later, we're down seven to nothing, and then we
you know, don't you know, don't get you know, don't
get really sustained on the next drive, and it's kind

(37:22):
of a moment in time in the game where if
we can pin them deep and get a defensive stop,
possibly capture a little bit of momentum and tie the
football game up. But that's an if at that point,
and a lot of times this year, whether it's been
Ryan or Ending ending the game with a long.

Speaker 9 (37:37):
Field goal the other day from from Will.

Speaker 7 (37:40):
That's an if hey, we you know, if he makes
his kick, we're up eleven points and you can kind
of see the goal, the yellow brick road to win
in a game. And he goes out there and makes
the kick, and you know, Andrew de Paula had a matchup,
you know, against fifty four that he's blocked a lot
of kicks and been a real weapon for them, and
he answers the bell there and they set the tone

(38:02):
for that whole group. When you've got so many young
players playing in the kicking game when you're specialist, are
guys that even though Will's a young player, he's incredibly reliable.
He's an unbelievable year. Ryan Wright's been, you know, consistently
getting better. And Andrew Paula, you know, in his in
his bagels and brunch, have always been as consistent as
any player in an organization. So, you know, all jokes aside,

(38:26):
they've been a huge part for us winning in a
year where maybe we haven't taken, you know, took the
normal path that we've kind of been accustomed to, either
offensively or at times with some of the things we've
had to navigate on the other side of the ball,
so that you know that one play phase has turned
into a massive play phase for us to try to
play complimentary football.

Speaker 5 (38:44):
What about the sweaty kwan? Was he talking about the
twenty twenty five New York Giants. He made them some
what they've clinched honfield advantage rough the playoffs. In the week,
it's like they've won two games. They're terrible. They don't
present a chit. They shouldn't present a challenge. If you

(39:05):
are building stacking, as the coach likes to say, you
go in and you kick six different kinds out of
the giants. That's what I'm looking for. Way, don't spread
swing borrow ten to me. I don't hear what the
I don't care what the what the points spread is.
I'm taking the purple and I'm doubling down.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
Oh my gosh, we'll take it right back.

Speaker 11 (39:23):
Come back.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
Well, we're straddling the forty five for all stations along
the Common Man Radio network.

Speaker 3 (39:30):

Damn.

we have We've talked about it. I'm the hip phrase
trendsset are, always have been, always will be. I mean
Pat McAfee stole the grum from me. They climate came
from somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
No, it didn't. What happens is the national people they have.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
They're such a conglomerate, so big, they have people that
just monitor or the radio station, listen to this, listen
to that, pick up little things. And of course, who's
gonna believe that I came up with the grummer Pat
McAfee did. They're going to dismiss me though we have proof.
We've been doing it for about twenty twenty five years.
The program ten Toby with this is a quick one. Yeah,

Sure?

Speaker 3 (40:42):
Okay, very good. How much time do I have?

Okay?

A Twins, Fish Rap Factory west Side, he covered the
Cincinnati Reds for a number of years, does a terrific
job covering the Twins.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
I have a lot of pity for him. Man, I
haven't followed that club. Maybe the worst.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
Four month mystery about who joined the Pole led family
in Twins ownership was finally answered today, and it included
one change in family leadership. Tom Pohlad will succeed as
Brother Joe overseeing the Twins organization and Pendie Major League approval.
He'll succeed as Uncle Jim as a franchise as control
person to serve as the primary liasian to the league.

(41:39):
He had a lot more added to his plate, probably
during Thanksgiving, because I'm sure the family got together and
they all said we got issues.

Speaker 1 (41:47):
I am curious how that came about. Well, I'm trying
to get to my bit. I'm talking.

Speaker 5 (41:51):
Sorry, it's okay, So they get to the Thanksgiving table
and they make Joe sit at the little kid's table, Right, Joe,
why don't you sit over there? So they could all
kind of a private conversation, and they go, we got
to make a change.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
It ain't working with Joe there anymore. And what probably really.

Speaker 5 (42:12):
Started the idea that they had to take Joe out
of the number one share, That is when he said, and.

Speaker 3 (42:21):
When we sell the team, I still want to run it,
and they.

Speaker 1 (42:24):
Were got to be kidding.

Speaker 5 (42:25):
Er doesn't understand how business works. So the older brother,
Tom Sayer. Yeah, cooler heads have prevailed. Tom's taking over.
And I'm sure that happened over Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (42:37):
Dinner, right.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
I was a quicker run from Joe.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
It was a quick run from Joe.

Speaker 5 (42:41):
Principal and principal minority investors are Glick Family Investments and
George G. Hicks, along with prominent Minnesota business leaders. Craig Leepold,
who is the majority owner of the Minnesota Wild, is
joining independently as limited. He's limited. Remember Glenn had all
of his limited, so Craig's limited. The principal minority investors

(43:08):
are I mean I just said that. Sorry, Hicks and
Click Family investments are acquiring non controlling minority stakes in
the Twins while the poll Up family retains the control
of the ownership group.

Speaker 3 (43:21):
You know, I guess it's just it's fun. I mean,
I suppose, you know.

Speaker 5 (43:25):
I think the whole reason they got the limiteds, these
these these extra these minority partners was to pay off
that five hundred thousand dollars debt.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
They got an influx of cash, they pay that off.

Speaker 5 (43:34):
And yeah, and again it's it's probably a good investment,
I think, even though you know, because now the teams
should be if you believe that they were really that
far debt of losing that much, I mean, they could
have wrote a check for that five hundred million and
paid that debt off had they wanted to, but they didn't.
But I suppose if you're one of the minorities relief Pole,
it's kind of cool. You don't have a piece of
another team, another Harvey to look into. And probably by

(43:57):
the end of the day, it doesn't seem like any
sports franchises in the world ever go down in value.
They just continue to increase. So it's it's it's a
nice investment opportunity as well.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
Tennaby when we when we come back with five, three four.
Do you have a tease for us please?

Speaker 1 (44:13):
Will Jets make history?
