Speaker 2 (00:29):
What's the name of the place again? That would be
Wild Boar Bar and Grill and Oakdale. Go see this
Wednesday seven to nine. R Max Hoody who are Max
not not the Vikings, Max, Max brosm or who we
may see Sunday suit it up to take on the
Seattle Seahawks are gaming here on this radio station tennebe.
I'm assuming it's that three ZHO five or three twenty

(00:50):
five three five five coverage. Then we'll begin at one o'clock.
Someone sent me a post from Minnesota sports Fan at
Real MN sports Fan says the Vikings claim they do
not know when McCarthy suffered his concussion yesterday, but then they.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Show a for the record, they haven't said he has
a concussion no concussion protocol right, Yes, that's right.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Correct, the concussion protocol. It's good to I'm glad you
cleared that up. That is exactly what they just say.
He's in the concussion protocol. But they they asked the
coach if there was a particular hit and they couldn't identify.
When I'm watching a highlight from this from this post
on on X the old Twitter where McCarthy scrambles, it's

(01:41):
it's the pocket breaks down. He's running. He gets hit
at the first down line. He gets hit pretty hard,
you know, and the packer player lands on top of him,
and he's laying there for a second with his arms
kind of splayed out a little bit, and then Hawkinson
helps him out. Now I'm not saying he did get
the concussion. First of all, we don't know if he

(02:02):
had a concussion, and I don't know if that would
be the play, but he was stunned there. You could
tell a little bit. And so I mean, that's just
one play you don't know you can't identify by the
Are you seeing the same play? I am right now.
Can you see that on It's on my I have
it on the email here. I only have the text.

(02:24):
Step Okay, you can come over and look at it later.
But anyway forward, Oh I could. Yeah, I guess I
can do that. Hold on, you know me, I'm so
bad at this kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
You're not bad, You're learning. So I tell my children
when they said they're bad at stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Well, I've quoted this. I've quoted this, the line from
a movie before about my diary of Wouldn't be a kid.
Rule number one, don't be good at something you don't

(03:06):
want to do. That's part of my produc that's part
of what I do here. Anyway, I'll get it to
your mike when I can find it. I don't know.
Here's what I will say. And again, this could be controversial.
I'm about to say something controversial that's interesting, and it
might not even be accurate. I think a lot of that,
but I've I've alluded to this on a number of occasions.

(03:33):
I think a lot of the situation we are in
is because of the the ego of the head coach.
I can't prove it, but we talk all the time
about it. A team is always looking too, too, It's

(03:56):
what I'm looking for now. They're always looking to identify,
discover identified, identify and discover a franchise quarterback. Sam Donald
last year played like a franchise quarterback. You can't deny it.
He was really, really good, except for those two games
you mentioned, I think.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
And one of those two I'm not even was it
like I give him a lot to blame. The Detroit
game just exactly. I don't know what quarterback would have
handled that pressure.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
That's exactly right. So they decided, Nope, we don't want
to spend a one hundred million dollars on him. Danny Dimes,
I read again this weekend, would have liked to have
come back, but he thought they were going to work
Wonders with McCarthy, or we're going to go with McCarthy,
and so he didn't. He didn't want to play a backup.
He wanted to start. Both Donald and Danny Dives of

(04:47):
Baltimore are enjoying excellent seasons, monumental success. Colts lost yesterday,
but they lost at Arrowhead in a squeaker to Mahomes
and the Chiefs, who were in desperation mode. They needed
to win that game, and the Colts almost won that game.
So it's not as though it's not smoking mirrors. I
don't think with Danny Dimes and the Colts. Nor is

(05:07):
it with Sam Darnold in the Seattle Seahawks. He's been
deemed a quarterback whispered. They did it on the broadcast
yesterday again. They kept showing the pictures of all the
quarterbacks and their stats, and was all this credit was
being heaped upon O'Connell and he I think he can

(05:28):
coach quarterbacks up. I think that is one of his attributes.
And he's probably better than a lot of guys at
it right. Matter of fact, he might be. I don't
know this because I don't know, you know. I also
think the guy with San Francisco is really good at
coaching up quarterbacks too, the Shanahan capter, And there's probably
a couple of other guys. McVeigh is probably pretty good too, right,

(05:51):
McVeigh had golf golf played well enough to get this
team team to a big game. Right and Stafford, Again,
I think it's more has to do with Stafford than McVeigh.
But McVeigh was the coach there, and Stafford won a
big game in his first year there and they're continue
to enjoy success. So there are other coaches I think

(06:12):
that are good. I gotta think Andy Reid's pretty good
at it too. He did a nice job with Alex Smith, right,
Alex Smith pay pretty well for Kansas, Donam McNab, Donod
m McNabb, and look what he's doing with mahomes. So
it's not like O'Connell's got the market cornered. But I
think and he probably believes he's good at it. So
I'm not even I'm really not trying to rip them,

(06:33):
but I think I am kind of within the decision
to say, you know what, we can take that money
because that's the other comeback from people all the time.
We wouldn't have been able to sign those free agency,
none of those free agents. I think the Fries guy,
there was a nice little piece on him the other
day and in one of the fisherrafts are athletic that
said he's been kind of the he's kind of been

(06:54):
the the the the rock. Yeah, the glue of that
offensive line he has that a nice year.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
That's good, okay, yeah, right, and.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Then you know one of the defensive guys is that Redgrave. Hardgrave,
I think he said he had some moments, so he's
played a little better as of late.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
I guess Jaylen Redman's probably been one of their best
defensive players.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yeah, And was he one of the guys we signed
as a free agent. No, okay, so he was here,
so you can you can say that we wouldn't have
been able to sign those players. But none of those
players have made the impact on the team that Sam
Donald had on this team. And I get it. Donald's
a quarterback. He's going to make more of an impact
good or bad. Right, He's quarterback, most important position to sports,

(07:38):
sports and stories, d ig. But I think the coach
thought I think they I don't think they evaluated McCarthy
as well. I think they thought they would be able
to have him hit the ground running, and that with
me coaching them up like we've done with other guys,
we can we can continue because you're not going to
tell me they made those moves coming especially coming off

(08:01):
a thirteen and four season, thinking well, we're just hoping
to do okay this year and do it right right
around five hundred. You know, gamers, as we develop our quarterback,
they were trying to win, and they were trying to
win now and it hasn't worked out that way. So
now it's like and this season now it is a wash.
I mean they would have to win. Think about it,
they would. They're at four and seven. You got to

(08:22):
be ten and seven at best, right, that means running
the table. I just don't see it. And that might
not even get it. Yeah, I don't think you probably won't.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
And you're gonna have to get to ten and seven
win tye breakers. Yeah, and then I mean that starts
with Seattle.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Again. I said this going into the green Bay game,
and I don't. It's not like I was going against
the grain. I think most people felt this way. I
think most people did, most rational people that aren't drinking
the kool aid. It was hard to pick the Vie
unless remark Roseen, it was hard to pick the Vikings
to win the game at green Bay. With the way

(08:57):
McCarthy's been playing quarterback. It was just too difficult to
do it. And you know what, it was ten to
six at the half, and the Vikings forced a punt
after I think green Bay got a first down. I
think they ran six plays right, and then they had
to punt, and then it was the unfortunate bad bounce
that hit is it what's the kid's name, price, Miles Price?
It hit him. Green Bay then got the ball with

(09:18):
like the sixth two plays later therein. But again, you
should be you should still be able. That's seventeen to six. Okay,
that's eleven points. That's you still have the entire fourth
quarter and a really good portion of the third quarter.
Your defense has been playing well to get back in
the game, and they weren't able to do it the
way that offense is going zero.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Yeah, and so, yeah, and so, and I think and you.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Know, I I I've always been kind of just going
on a gut with McCarthy too. He just had this
gut feeling. You watch see do you know it is possible,
It's it's not beyond possibility. Tend to be that he
could be one of those guys that takes a long time.
They stay patient with him here or maybe not here,

(10:08):
he goes elsewhere like Donald did. Right, Donald played on
several different teams. An he blossoms somewhere. But man, if
you take that chance, head coaches and general managers lose
their jobs over decisions like that if they wait too long. Right,
and so, I don't know where this is going to lead.
I don't think anybody does. It is still possible that

(10:30):
he does not have a concussion and that he's in
the protocol, but he might not have an He may
play Sunday against the Sam Darnald in Seattle. I'm kind
of thinking that's not going to happen. It's gonna be
Max Brosmer, And you know, I do I expect any
miracles with Brosmer. I don't know. They talk about how
smart Brozmer is and how he has a handle on

(10:50):
the offense and stuff like that. The kid seems to
be a bit fearless brock forty two point zero. Well,
he could be. It could very well be. So well,
we'll probably find out more and we'll take another break,
come another another couple of segments to go here on
the common Man program along with Tennabe. Right here on
the Fans.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Turn the Mic out of Hell a couple thirteen fourteen past.
I'm common he is Tennab. What's the name of this one?
Sounds very majestic.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
This one is called clear to the top, clear to
the top. Probably clear to the top. No, we have
to take one more break.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
So, you know, in discussing the Vikings quarterback situation for
for all these months, you know, and we talked about
quarterback whisperer and Darnold you know, you know, mcar O'Connell
taking him under his wing and such. And I always said, Tennebee,
I was like, well, I'll give you that. I'm not
I'm not going to say O'Connell didn't have something to

(12:38):
do with it. But what about all that time spent
in San Francisco. He spent a season in San Francisco
and went to the Now he didn't play. He backed
up Rock Party, but they went to the big game.
Now they lost. That was the year they beat Detroit
in the NFC Championship Game, two years three years ago. Now,
I think. But I did find it, did a little

(12:59):
re Believe it or not, Tim, I actually did some research.
Here's a couple of pieces from a story I read.
Sam Donald praised Rock Purty extensively, crediting him for quote
unlocking his career by teaching him how to better prepare,
study defenses and adopt a point guard mentality of getting

(13:20):
the ball to playmakers rather than forcing plays, which helped
Darnald develop a more consistent, even keeled approach and have
his best have his career best season with the Vikings
in twenty twenty four. Donald stated that Purty's meticulous preparation
Notice that's Purty and not common. Donald stated that Purty's

(13:41):
meticulous preparation and on field processing were inspiring and that
he learned invaluable lessons from him during their time there
as teammates with the forty nine ers. Key things Donald
said about purty preparation and study. He said, quote, he
showed me so much on how to ping, how to study.
He was so helpful that way. Mind shift, mindset shift.

(14:06):
Perdy described his role as a point guard getting the
ball to playmakers, a shift in the mindset that unlocked
Donald's game as he previously tried to force plays even
keeled demeanor. Donald admired Perty's consistent emotion on the field,
never getting too high or too low after good or
bad plays. Claw your way up. Donald felt Brock showed

(14:28):
him what it takes to claw your way up and
seize every chance, crediting him with potentially saving his NFL
career learning from a younger player. Despite his draft pedigree,
Donald actively learned from Purdy, even quizzing him on coverages.
Recognizing Perty's deep understanding the offense. Donald's comments came to
it in his introductory press conference with the Seattle Seahawks

(14:50):
in early twenty twenty five, where he reflected on his
time as Purtty's backup in San Francisco in twenty twenty three. Now,
there may have been part of that news conference that
I did not see. In this piece, I found where
he credited Kevin O'Connell and Wes Phillips, and maybe who
else was here when Purty was here? Who else was
the Queen? Donald was hearing me? Yeah? What Donald was here?

(15:12):
McCown McGown, you know. And McCarthy wasn't McCarthy here one, yeah, McCarthy,
but McCarthy hadn't played, but he was here on injured reserve.
And then who who was our backup? Was that mullins deck.
He may have mentioned some of those people in his
introductory news conference in Seattle, but I didn't find it. So,
in other words, you can say all you want about

(15:35):
the head coach being the quarterback whisper. It sounds like
Brock was the quarterback whisper too well.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
And do you know the name that has been tied
to the Minnesota Vikings as a veteran they could look
for in the off season, Rock Party's current backup, Mac Jones.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
So there you go, There you go. So I just
was always I always wondered about who should get because
and then there was no mention of Shanahan the weather.
I always thought Shanahan and I had a lot to
do it. But I think Shanahan probably helped Party. If

(16:15):
you want to give quarterback, if you want to give
coaches credit for helping to cultivate quarterbacks, then you'd have
to give you'd have to give give Shanahan some credit
and culture.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Shannan has been known as more as an overall offensive
genius as opposed to specifically a quarterback whisper.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
But obviously that helps the quarterback. It does, indeed, so
and you know, as we look ahead, you know again
it does again barring a run the table and like
you say, get help from this team and that team.
The Vikings seem to be just playing out the string. Now,
I would assume for those of you who just join us.

(16:59):
The head coaching is twelve thirty day after the game
news conference, said that McCarthy's in the protocol. We don't
know if he has a concussion, but he's in the
protocol if he is not able to play. In response
to a question from a media member at the news conference,
he said that it would be Max Brosmer, that he
would start. They wouldn't go to a you know. They

(17:20):
asked him, also, would you consider, you know, bringing somebody
else in case McCarthy's out for long periods, and they
said yes, they would look at all sorts of different options,
in other words, bringing a guy to brack up, back
up Brozman because I don't even know who there. They
have another guy in the practice squad? Who would they mentioned,
I didn't hear a name. Who is? Do they have
a practice squad guy? I'm sure they do, right, I
don't know who is either.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
In my guess, the had like Desmond rit there at
the points throughout the season, so.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
I don't think they would be I don't think you're
ready to go with a guy like that. But then again,
what would it really matter at this point either, I
don't know what there is to gain from throwing. I mean,
Broseman would be the only choice. I think as long
as you got me as we'll see what you got
with him too, because if Brosemer and I'm not saying that,

(18:05):
you know you're looking to see if Brozman could be
a starting quarter But though you could see that, what
if he wanted an he was brilliant, It's always possible.
I mean, I don't I think it's unlikely. It's possible.
He's brilliant, right, but at least you know if he's hey,
he's got a good command at the offense, he's a
great backup. He's a good guy to have in the
quarterback room. And if he's willing to continue to be
a backup next year, we'd love to have him again,

(18:27):
you know, because it was undrafted and we saw what
he did with the Golphers. He was a nice player.
I was talking to a Nordo again and he thinks
a lot of the there have been I'm not going
to say it's been a groundswell for Brozemer, but there
have been people that have said, what are we doing here,
Let's throw Brosmer in there. And I think Nordo, if

(18:48):
I understood him, I don't want to put words. Well,
I've always put words in people's mouth. I think he
thinks a lot of the let's play Brosemer crowd or
Gopher fans that because he play here, that's the only
reason they want him. And I would bet if there's
one hundred people that want Rosmer, I would say there's
a percentage of that one hundred that's because of the

(19:11):
Gopher tie. Yeah, but I don't think it's everybody like
for me, it has nothing to do with it being
a golfers. Just like hey played pretty well when he
was with the Golphers. That was the school. I think
we just know him better. Yeah, we know him better,
and you just go And you also say everybody likes
the guy that's backing up the starter when the starter's
not playing well.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
But I mean, like when your third quarterback was Brett Rippon,
nobody knows anything about Brett Rippon, so no one gets
excited about Brett Rippon. Whereas Max Brosner Rosemer. We saw
him play at the University Minnesota last year. We saw
him play great in the preseason. He had some moments
in joint practices and in training camp. So I think
that's more so the excitement than just he played one

(19:51):
year for the.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
University, and I think that's it.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
I think the sounds like he's from Saint Paul right
and we are just right. And there are some that
probably will turn on him on in oh ye, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
And I'm sure there are some people that that like
the the goal for connection and that's maybe part of
the reason why. But I don't think that's everybody. Take
our final break and then we'll come back. And it's
been a very controversial, fast paced action pack show, some
of our best work. Unprecedented response from the emailers, nothing

(20:24):
from the corner's office. You've got to be kidding back
after this year on the fan.

Speaker 1 (20:34):

Details at kfan dot com keyboard calendar. A couple thirteen
fourteen past Common Man program PJ. Fleck Show Tomorrow at
twelve noon tennebe and I will make our triumphant return
at one. I will not be here tomorrow. That's right.
That's right. You're out for a couple of days, so

(21:52):
I will make my triumphant return. Do we know who's
sitting in that chair? I thought Blakemore said he was
going to be there, So Blakemore will be here for
a couple of days. I think head coach from the
the Tipsy Steer. I knew I could get it. I
knew maybe at the Tipsy Steer. And we'll see what

(22:13):
the head coach has to say. The Golphers lost to
Northwestern thirty eight thirty five at Wrigley. Northwestern is building
a new stadium and so they've been playing their home
games at Wrigly. The Golphers missed a forty yard field

(22:34):
goal wide left his time expired, expired, expired, expired. The
Gopher defense, I think they have a first year defensive coordinator,
if I'm not mistaken. And this is what Randy Johnson rights,

(22:55):
and he's Fisher Rep Factory west Side. In his analysis
piece after the game, it says the Gophers defense, a
week after giving up five hundred ten yards in a
loss at playoff contending Oregon, surrendered five hundred twenty five,
so fifteen more yards ten to me to a Northwestern

(23:17):
team that entered the game ranked one hundred and six
nationally in total offense, one hundred tenth in scoring offense,
and one hundred and sixteenth in passing off You've got
to be kidding me. We already know Minnesota is not
an Oregon's league, and Northwestern certainly certainly isn't. But how
do you give up that they gave up more yards

(23:39):
to Northwestern, which is woeful, that they are an awful
offensive team. According to these numbers, I'll repeat those again,
they surrendered five to twenty five to Northwestern, ten fifteen
more than they did to the golf Oregon to a
Northwestern team that entered the game rank one hundred and
six nationally in total offense, one hundred tenth in scoring

(24:00):
offense in one hundred sixteenth and passing offense. Wildcats quarterback
Preston Stone completed twenty five of thirty passes for three
hundred and five yards in two tudies, finding Griffin Wilde
for eleven receptions one hundred eleven yards in a tudy,
and Hayden Ella John the Second, not to be confused

(24:23):
with Hayden Ella John the third or the first for
seven catches in one hundred and twenty seven yards. Gophers
coughed up a twenty eight thirteen quarter, a twenty thirteen
third quarter lead, and allowed the Wildcats to score twenty
two consecutive points in twenty five overall in the second half.

(24:43):
Flex said quote, we did not play well enough as
a team offense, defense, and special teams to come up
with a victory and what was necessary to win this game. Really,
I wouldn't have known that just by reading these stats.
I didn't have to see the game, because I did
not see it. Ten to be your choice, watch Gophers
versus Northwestern or play golf. It's not even a choice.

(25:05):
And I shot at this obvious and I shot a
seventy seven. Right afterwards, I performed much better than the golphers.
Did you know how I finished? We started on the back,
I went thirty nine on the front. On the back,
and on the front I went bogie, par double. I
hit it in the water on on the par three.
From that point on I went I pared four, birdied five,

(25:28):
pard six, birdied seven, bogied eight, and then parred nine. Yes,
Danny Collins is the first year coordinator defensive coordinator. Here's
what else flex said. Oh it says over the past
three games is what Johnson writes. Over the past three games,

(25:51):
the Golphers have given up fifteen hundred and two yards.
I'll repeat that tenebee. Over the past three games, the
Gophers have given up fifteen hundred and two yards Northwestern
Oregon in Michigan State. Michigan State's not any good either.
They hadn't won a Big ten game. They had won

(26:12):
like two or three Big ten games, two three Big
ten games over the past two three seasons. Why are
you talking about that game? Though?

Speaker 1 (26:21):
All I know is you're own one in the Northwestern
championship season.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
That's what he said. He says, I don't look at that.
I don't look at the third straight game. This was
a one game championship season. You're not playing for a championship, dude,
Can you stop with the nonsense. I was cute early
on Hey calls every championship season. That said, enough of that.

(26:50):
You're trying to stream wins together. You're trying to make
a real championship season. This was a one game championship season.
We're h on to one. This game has nothing to
do with the last game, Okay, I guess yeah, technically
it doesn't, but it does because there are trends, and

(27:11):
there are you if you give up an average of
five hundred yard, because that's a you know, last I checked,
enemy fifteen hundred and two yards over three games is
just about five hundred yards average a game, just slightly
under there. There's a trend there, and those games do
kind of start to look like they're mirror images of

(27:32):
each other, and they are kind of similar, and it's
hard to forget about the last art. I mean, I
know you want to. Fleck was asked how he assesses
the defense of the first year defensive coordinators work, says,

(27:52):
I look at three things. I look at coaching, I
look at personnel, and I look at scheme. Those are
the three things I evaluate every single week. I love
what Danny's doing, I love our herder defensive staff works.
We've just got to be able to make the plays
when they present themselves. Lindsay was pretty good twenty thirty

(28:14):
for two sixty four and four tuddies, but just not
And you know it's like and Johnson even wrote the
headline of his analysis says, for the Golphers, just being

(28:35):
good isn't good enough anymore. And I tend to agree
with that. And I understand that we're we're dealing with
it's a whole new world other because of nil name, image, likeness.
We do know. It just appears and I don't have
any numbers in front of me. I googled it about
a day, about a week or so ago, about how
much nil money do the Golphers have? How much mil

(28:56):
do they? And you know there are they have nil money.
It's not as large as a lot of other schools.
But I don't think it can be completely on nil
money because then it's too convenient of an excuse. The
coach have been here nine years, and I don't think
he's done a horrible job. But the one game championship

(29:19):
season and all that, and I you know, you've heard
me say this before, tend to be that this the
raw raw, you know, sky yumago gopher stuff and all that,
and then you know surfing and you know bodies. You know,
he does the body surfing thing in the locker room
after wins and runs up and down the sideline and
you know he's talking to seventeen, eighteen, nineteen year old
twenty year old kids, and that's good for them. You know,
if he was your an eyeboss, we probably both leave.

(29:39):
But because I don't know, I don't never want to
see Chad Avid body surf with the rest of the
staff here holding him up above us. But after Awhiles
like okay, well, you know, and is it even realistic
to think that the University of Minnesota football program, no
matter who the coach is, whether it's Fleck Kill, Clay's

(30:03):
Whacker Mason or Lane Kiffin, could they ever compete and
beat Oregon beat I Wall, not just once in six
years like flex has or however, long it's been, but
I mean, what it's gotta be more sixty been in
nine years, right, every single year? Or Michigan or House State. No,

(30:24):
but I'll leave it. I will. I'm not a moral
victory guy, but I'd take a moral victory. I would
take where we got the ball with a chance to
win at the shoe against Michigan at the shoe with
two and a half or you know, a minute and
a half to go, and we are we fall short,

(30:46):
but we scared them competitive, be competitive, scare them a
little bit. I'd even take that. And that's and I'm
not a big moral victory guy, but we can't even
do that. And and the you know, the coach after
two of those losses, the one do to a high
state and won the Oregon both times, he said, maybe
it was the one in Michigan State. Did we beat
Michigan State? Yeah, yeah, took it in the over time.

(31:09):
I think it was. I think it was after the
Oregon game then two, but I know it's for sure
for the hostage team. He did the old but bye, gosh,
we have a good program and we have a good team. Huh, well, good,
I guess when it comes to play in the northwesterns
is of the world and some of these other you know,
they the bottom twelve of the Big eighteen. Big eighteen's

(31:31):
got a handful of really good teams, right Obvius, Ohio State, Oregon,
And then you have USC's ranked. They're top fifteen team.
I think I was a top twenty team in Indiana.
We have five teams that are nationally ranked. Are there
any others? Or is that Nebraska was twenty fifth at

(31:54):
one point, but they've fallen off the face of the earth.
Penn State. That's the crazy because weren't they in the
semi finals of the National Championship tournament last year and
then to fall flat on the face. It was so shocked,
and they fired Franklin. They said, Ben, we know you
discovered electricity, but you're out. There's no electric atmosphere anymore

(32:17):
at Penn State, so he's gone. Then he got hired
by I think West Virginia Blue Riche mountin Shenandoah River,
Illinois is ranked twenty one. Okay, she got six teams
ranked and we're not there. How would we fay against
Illinoim we didn't play them this year, right, I don't
know you you would hope you could play Illinois and

(32:38):
beat them, because they're twenty one. We'll beat them. I
don't know. I think the one thing that you do
have is this this quarterback. Is he a true red
shirt freshman? Is that how they say that? No, he's
not a oh red shirt? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Yeah, Well true true freshman means he's not a red
shirt this first year.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Okay, so he's a red shirt freshman. Yeah, and he
has shown some promise. He looks like he can like
I think he plays without fear. I think he can
he can spin it. But it's just any in your
your why your Wolves club? About that? Apparently the Sun

(33:20):
said they were cocking off the Wolves when they when
they were up you know what was it ten? With
fifty seconds or eight whatever it was? Did you see?
I just I didn't see the game. I saw I
watched that little highlight package. Did you watch the last
fifty seconds? No? It's read about it embarrassing. If you're not.
If you're if you remember that team, you you should

(33:40):
almost apologize to the fans. It was so bad. The
only team that's holding up there under the bar and
right now, Timnaby is your Minnesota Wild wh would have
thought thought after the start three weeks ago. Whould have
thought that if I would have told you three weeks
ago it was the while that we're going to be
the shining star, not North Star, but the shining star
of the local team, you to laugh being off, I

(34:01):
would have said, I'll have what he's smoking. Yah. Now
look at US nine one in one and.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
Now looks like we have a future superstar goaltender on
her hand. They're like any any year in the next decade,
as long as we're in the playoffs, he might lock
down the series for us.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
I mean, he reminds me of a combination of Eddie Jockaman,
Jacques Plant, Kenny Dryden and Gump Worsley, maybe even a
little Caesar Moniagua. I want to give the Norse Star
guys some credit. He's really good. And Tennebee is this
is he a flopper? You know? Because they talk about
floppers and they talk about all.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Goalies these days plot basically play the exact same style,
and they're all six foot.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
Four, right, and.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
They spent a lot more time on their on their
knees than the old the old school Gus.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
And how he's really young, right, he's a kid. Gosh, yes,
he's what twenty one two? I mean again, you know
you've heard this phrase before Tennabee.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
And he fell to us in the draft like he
wasn't expected to. He's twenty three years old.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
You've heard this phrase before, right, flash in the pan.
You know you're panning for gold. There's a little flash
in the pan. Could be, we don't know. We got
to play it out more, but sure doesn't look that way.
The kid looks like he's put up his historic stens. Yeah, exactly,
That's why I'm saying he could be it couldn't you know,
Just like we don't know. McCarthy could end up being
He might have a gold jacket some day, right, you

(35:25):
just never know when they're this young.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
But and with goalies probably similar to golf, like the
mental game of being a goalie can be a roller coaster.
So I don't want to get like a two out
in front of my skis here because this can change
in a year. But he looks the part like it
isn't just right, and you happy to get some puck
luck going your way for a couple of games. Like
he he looks like he's in charge. He's he's confident.

(35:50):
Every puck that hits him, he swallows it up. He's
not giving up leaky rebounds.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
You like this kid. I like him a lot too.
I like him a lot.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
You know, I said before the year, I probably said
this the last three years. If this team was going
to take a step, they needed young guys yep to
step up and for a good chunk of the season
other than Bouyam, Like, we weren't getting a lot from
our young guys, right Like Ogren's already been down to
Iowa multiple times. You Rob didn't do a whole lot
of the year he was he was sitting in the
press box to begin the season.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
You're a check.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
Has basically done nothing and has not looked great at
the trade and Vall said coming off of last year,
you didn't know what you're going to get out of him,
and he already looks like I know he's not going
to win the call there because there's a defenseman for
the Islanders right now that's just a stud. But he
might get suckond in the calder voating this year for
Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
Sometime I sometimes I dream that he were me, if
I could be like, yes, didn't have quite a ring
to it like mine. No, but I still like it. Yeah.
I like Wall of Saint Paul. The Wall of Saint Paul.
This is good, isn't it? The Wall of Saint Paul.
And yeah, so we got that going forward, which is nice.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
The next like weird not wild commercial they like to do. Yeah,
they'll have like they'll show him like putting bricks in
front of the mill.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Oh yeah, well, yeah, that's that's good. I like that
and so far, so good. I again, we'll just as
we get ready to turn it over to Barrero and
Britt Blake Moore, head coach soon to be in case
you just joined us or haven't heard, head coach with
the soon to be Big Game World Champion of Minnesota Vikings,
in his day after the game news conference earlier today,
which you could have heard on the fan if you

(37:26):
were listening, announced that McCarthy is in the concussion protocol.
They don't say he has a concussion, they say he
was feeling woozy. He told him out on the plane.
I forgot the show tend to be the hot. There
is one highly where he gets hit pretty hard and
get the packer guy lands on him and he's kind
of stunned there for a second looking up at the sky,
and Hawkinson helps him up. He may have that may

(37:47):
where maybe might not have been a concussion, but that's
he sort of looked like he may have got his
bell rung a little bit there. But I you know, again,
I don't know. Sometimes you'll see a guy get hit
really hard and you think he's never going to get
up again, and he jumps back up, but he's still
in the game. So I don't know, but he is
in the concussion protocol. The coach did say if as
the week goes on that it's determined that McCarthy can't play,

(38:07):
they would go with Max Broseman. They're not gonna go
get somebody off the streets and who could you get?
That's it. Oh you could get somebody, but yeah, not
any exactly. That's it. You know. Well, I guess I
bet Tannehill could do it. It'd be pretty basic play.
But there's no sense you'd rather see what you have
with Brosmer. So they are gonna go with Brosemer. We
see what we got, We got what we got with
bros I'm a I'm a brose bro is what I

(38:32):
am We'll see how that goes.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
Do you think the Bears are for real? It doesn't
mean so. I know they didn't have Aaron Rodgers, but
still Cally Whin. All I know is there in first
place Packers. Who the hell did they beat?

Speaker 2 (38:53):
Oh, that's right, and then there's and then there's the
Lions should have lost him. I don't know if you why
they didn't. They were behind the entire game. They got
down by ten again late in the game, and then
the kiddies cut it to three, and then the Giants
got it deep into Detroit territory. Could have kicked a

(39:13):
figure to get up my six, forcing Detroit they have
to drive the length of the field, score tuddy and
an extra point. Instead, they eschewed the short field goal.
I actually don't blame the coach. You're out to win
at this point. You're two and eight or whatever the
record is. Who cares. It's not like you were eight
and two, you know, fighting Philadelphia for first place. They

(39:33):
went for it, didn't get it. Detroit got in the
field goal range, Baits hit a fifty nine yarder and
then first played from scrimmage after after the coin flip
and the kickoff and o t. Gibbs goes ninety or
sixty some yards for a tudy and then the Lions stop,
Hutchinson sacks, Jameis Winston send the game. So there we go.

(40:00):
Thanks for having me, Hey, great job. Yeah, I felt
you did a bang up job as well. We enjoyed
a visit with you today. We're back tomorrow at one
Tennebe's out, but I'll be here tomorrow at one PJ
Flex show at twelve noon, Big Ticket and Brett Lake
morn X for here on the fan. Good all right,
got that, Good night, folks, Good night missus Calabashi. We're
