Speaker 3 (00:26):
Dude, he came a couple of thirteen fourteen. Pass a
little Dylan to what there for? You'm Comedy's tend to me.
The legendary Mark Rosen is here as well.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Good afternoon you okay, I'm fine, all right, that's scary
morning that happened.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Well, I was.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
About to take my sweet little Willow to get her
nails done because I can't clip the nails clipped clips.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Oh okay, I didn't like not a manicure.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
No, no, they have to get a clip because she's
you know, she's I never you know, declawed her, which
is kind of they tell you now, it's kind of
mean to do that. It's not good for the cat,
but she's also good at scrach use. No, she won't
let me do it, so the vets like five minutes away.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Can't you get it some ether and put her out?
He almost kind of put me out. What happened.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
So I'm she's pretty wise, uh and wiley. So I
put the carrier in our second the second bedroom, in
the bathroom in the second bedroom.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
She knew what was coming, and.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Not immediately, but she had that look at her eye,
and I started moving towards her. You know, normally I
pick her up with a towel and put her right
in there, but I didn't this time, and she squirmed
out of my arms.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Cover up with the towels. She can see like you
throw a tarp.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Over pretty much. Yeah, it's you know, then put her
in the with the towel. You put her in the carrier.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Well, no, it's not at all. It's very comfortable for
she got to cushy a little. Anyway.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
The bottom line is she she's scurried out of my arms.
And I was right by the bathroom door the entrance,
and she ran in between my feet and it was
like a tripping call. She tripped me up. So I'm
falling backwards and I can't do anything about it.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
You can't brace yourself. No.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I cracked my head on the end table and it
looked like a crime scene. I thought, oh great, I
mean it's like I got up and put my hand
in the back of my head. It hurt like hell,
and I I got blood in my hand. I did
you go to the blue tent?
Speaker 2 (02:27):
I did not. I scared. I thought I was going
to have.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
To call nine to one one. Should you even be
on the air? Are they allowing you win? And they
say you can go on the air?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
I don't know. I don't know. I mean so far
so good.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
I would have had I think I would have had
concussion type symptoms. I'm still day to day, as they say.
So anyway, so the cat didn't get your tongue, he
got your feet.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
My feet.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
You tripped over your yards for tripping on willow and
I hit that table.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I thought I put a.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
Dent in it, and it was just like like I said,
it's like and I took a towel, and you know,
I'm taking a blood thinner too, So I was like,
this is not good. So you know, it's like I
could like bleed out here and then I'm mister, your
skin thinner too for a long time skin thinner.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Skin. Oh that's pretty I know. Anyway, will Will is
texting me, all righty well, let me ask you. Let
me ask you.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
So I covered it up, and I thought, oh, it's
stop bleeding. And I went about my business. Had to
run a bunch of areas. I did, and he just
just said unless you if you feel feel faint or
nauseous or whatever.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
You could have called me and told you the same thing.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
I know that I would charge you more of them.
So actually, uh, you know, truth be told. Are the
security guard certainly kind of took and I can't see it.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
I can't.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
I have no idea other the fact that I lay
down for a little bit on a towel and there's
blood on that. So thought, oh, this isn't good.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Where's carn at work at this point? She's at work? Uh?
Did you call her and tell her?
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Of course I called her and told her she was
gonna come home and don't come home. There's nothing you
can do at it. I ran a bunch of airs.
I had to run to good Will and grocery shopping
for tonight.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
You know, you know in the movie First Blood, Sylvester
Spallone sewed himself.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Did you think you might have to find any well?
Speaker 4 (04:15):
I couldn't reach back that far, so rubbing alcohol and
you know, put a little robotusha on it.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Right, it's okay. Put a little bandage on it, and
I think I'm good to go.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
But do you remember the episode of the Twilight and
So with Telly said ollis where the doll tripped him
down the stair.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Oh god, yes, you do you.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Think will I was trying to kill it for all?
You put her in that carrier and they throw a towler.
She on, this is my chance. She treated like a queen.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
I mean, she gets her treats, she gets you know,
she gets you know, a great place to hang out.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
She got another cat to hang out with. She's got
a pretty good life.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Sleep like it sleeps like nine hours or twelve hours
a day or whatever. It's not a bad life or cat.
But yeah, there was there was fun because she was
not having any of it. So you know, it was
and un unfortunately I said, uh, it looked like for
a second there I thought, oh boy, well you're.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
A tough guy. You're here a lot of people I
know I don't have showing up.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Yeah I don't. I appreciate being here. So our security
guy downstairs help me take care of some things. So
I couldn't see it. I didn't know I was.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Still bleeding or well, I'm okay, but you look good.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Well, it's all a little better at seventy four than
you do it forty four.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Yeah, not quite the same, but it's yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Where should we Well, let's go ahead and start with
really the biggest story of the weekend was the wild trade.
They trade the equivalent of four first round picks, right, really?
They Artinian Rossi on the rocks over in in buyam,
as well as an unprotected first round pick I think next.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Year for the nor The He won the Norse.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Last year as the best defenseman in the National Hockey League.
The Uh Dylan Hughes No quinn, I'm sorry, I know
what I'm trying.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
What is it? Dylan? Is there somebody named Dylan Hughes?
Isn't that a writer? No, I don't know. I don't
know the way he was one of two years ago,
just won it last you runner up? I think now
I'm wondering, why are we traded for overrated?
Speaker 3 (06:19):
He's down hill, he's on the downside of his career. Uh,
it's it's it's a blockbuster for sure of four for
one year.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Thoughts on the.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Trade, Well, it's it's And I think we've heard from
Bill Garon quite a bit on the whole situation, how
it went down, and the Canucks knew they weren't going
to be able to keep him and not keep them.
And there are other obviously lots lots of other teams
that were probably in the mix. It's gutsy, it's it's
it's wonderful to see a Minnesota sports team take a
(06:51):
bold move like this because you know, you know, they
gave up, you know, good players, and in particular, I
think that boyam who's got the potential to you know,
you know, a top defenseman in this league for years
to come. But you know, you got you got to risk,
you know, sometimes you've got to give up some good
players to get a player like this in return. And
(07:13):
and there's no doubt that what he represents. And of
course the caveat is, you know, and and Garan is
kind of like not saying pooh pooed it, but and
you you heard Hughes after the game the other night saying,
you know, look, I appreciate the fact that Bill Garon
gave up what he did to get me, and I
I've taken stock of that. In other words, you know,
will he will he be able to sign the extension
(07:34):
here and stay here for seven eight years and be
a part of the Caprice off era and and and
uh Matt Boldy era.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
It's correct, and it's the wall in Saint Paul era.
You know, if you want to play with the big boys,
with Colorado in particular and Dallas to a certain extent,
you know, you have to make a move like this.
I mean, and I think I think it came out
of left field for a lot of people, you know,
the I mean Michael Russel's who was as plugged in
as anybody in hockey. There were no you know like,
(08:07):
oh did you hear the rumor mill blah blah blah
blah blah. These things usually come, you know, come together
in a hurry. And they've been talking for a little while.
But I mean I watched as much as I could
the other night, and it's not like, Okay, this guy's
going to be Bobby Orr the first game and you
can see he's got, you know, terrific skills, especially you know,
on the power play getting the puck out of the zone.
And I think it's going to be a little bit
(08:27):
in favor of those guys have talked about it. You
gotta you know, not play Washington tonight. But it's all
about next spring and what this guy is going to
contribute in the postseason. When you have two A plus
teams like Colorado and Dallas you're going to have to
compete against, and one of one of those three, it's
like a very expensive game.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Of musical chairs.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
One of those three will be out and after the
first round because of the playoff format.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
So yeah, I think it's a standing ovation. I mean,
that's the.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Type of thing where you go, yeah, you got to
make a move like this, you know, and it's certainly
given a jolt to the fan base and you to
I think everybody probably on that bench and you know,
to say, look, we're interested in winning, we're interested in
winning now. And I think it's you know, Bill Garon's
competitive soul is certainly alive and well so yeah, I mean,
(09:18):
time will tell. But at the same time, it's not
often you get a chance to land a player in
the prime of his career, not even reaching maybe the
prime of his career twenty six, to get on your
hockey team and keep him away from the I guarantee
if the discussions in Colorado and Dallas in particular, are
probably like, oh, okay, they raised the bar a little
bit more here.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
So the next question is have you ever seen Quinn
Hughes play?
Speaker 4 (09:43):
No, not either, I mean I mean, listen, you play
for Vancouver get much TV time? No, you know, it's
not like watching I mean, that's the problem with I mean,
let's watching NHL Network in late night. I mean, Vancouver
plays most of the games.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
They're on the way on the East coast, over there by,
over by New York City.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Andre playing those early games.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
He also was injured during the the NHL frozen that
four teams whatever he called that thing last year, So
he didn't get played for tm USA last year.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, he'll play for them in the Olympics. He certainly will.
Garrett's a GM of that. This text messagers say, is
glad to hear Rosie's okay.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
When he first started telling the story, I thought it
might be a beasting.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
You glad to hear he.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Only practed his head. Yeah, he just cracked my head. Well,
not much left in there. We'll pause, we'll come back.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
We got more to get to, including NBA Cup tonight,
it's a big one. And then uh, some vikings and
Gophers and just out lad here in the common End program.
Speaker 2 (10:36):

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Past Common Man program uncommon He is.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Tend to be Mark Rosen here as well, really violent weekend,
hate to put a damper on things to Australia, Providence,
Rhode Island.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
And then yesterday and our two days ago in.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
California where Rob Reiner, who you and I first knew,
and many of the listeners probably hap but we have
a lot of youngsters that don't know that he really.
He rose to fame as playing Michael Stibbeck, also known
as Meathead and the legendary all in the family series
situation comedy and then Hiss. His son is allegedly the
(11:48):
the the perfect trator.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah and he's.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Rob Reiner, his wife are both dead and their youngest son,
Nick is accused of the murder.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Yeah, it's sent ripples throughout I mean every aspect, not
just the Hollywood community or people just who you and
I were talking to talk about growing up kind of
watching him perform, first of all, as on All the Family,
and I saw a clip of the last scene Archie
and Carol O'Connor, who was a wonderful actor and played
(12:21):
Archie Bunker like no one's business, I mean, and they
butted heads all the time on every issue that imaginable,
which is pretty common today, but back then it was
not commonplace to have a primetime show.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Go into all those topics.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
And at the end when Michael had a saygobye to
arch and they're there moving to California with Gloria and
the kid, and it was because Archie, I think, like
a lot of parents of that era, like we've talked about,
my dad was an emotional guy, and I don't know
how your dad was, but even they're not one to
open a vein, as they say, and hug it out
(12:58):
and do all that thing. But they had an exchange.
It gives you goosebumps. And you watch it because when
Meat had, as they say, look looked at Archie and said,
you've been like a father to me, and he's, you know,
Carol O'Connor doesn't really know how to react, and he
basically says, just take care of my little girl and
my grandson. It's just gives you chills. It's it was
(13:19):
such a well done series. And then of course Rob
Reiner went on to.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Man director and Harry met Sally spinal Yeah, I mean,
well all a few good men.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
List goes on and on, but I mean he he
had a clip and you know, I think for a
lot of people when Harry met Sally, one of their
favorite early Rob comms that they had with Billy Crystal,
who's a dear friend and Meg Ryan and Rob Reiner
had had a comment about how he rewrote the end
of the movie because during the filming of the movie
(13:53):
that's when he met his wife, and at the end
of the movie, the original ending had the two of
them like splitting, going apart and in their separate ways,
and he said, I changed the ending because I fell
in love with soon to be my wife. And then
he you know, Billy Crystal had that great little speech
at the end about on New Year's Eve with Meg Ryan,
(14:14):
and you know it was a happy ending and everything else,
but there were so many other aspects of of what
his impact on Hollywood and his just genuine sort of
feel about people that meant the world to him. So
I just saw that another another MI I T professor
was shot and killed just a short time ago.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
I don't even know where it was.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Yeah, it's just just every single bleeping day at something
and again a targeted individual, and this one was a
little different. And the gruesomeness of it, you know, of
using a knife as a weapon. I mean, the kid
was the kid. The young man was at corner O'Brien's
house a.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
Party in his dad and and writer and his son
had words. I also thought I read Reiner was talking
to a comedian.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Nick went over their next son.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Yes, and the comedian said, this is a private conversation.
He had the stunned look on his face, and you
know they had it had been a suthing, he'd been
living hit.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
The kidd had substance abuse issues.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
For a long long time ago, and in and out
of Rea, right right in and out of rehab facilities.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
They ended up making a movie about. What I also
read today is.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Reiner wanted a certain line in that movie and it
had to be in there, and they talking about how
and I apparently Nick didn't really what the speculation is
and and whether we'll ever find out or not, is
that he didn't like the way that line was any
because he didn't feel that's the way it really went.
In other words, that that line was to make Rob
(15:50):
Reiner feel better about himself about what happened.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Were rather than and then so there was words and yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
I mean he's yeah, and apparently he had substance abuse
issues and and other issues.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Is what.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
I've been homeless for a long time. And you know,
if you even look at some of the pictures they
show of the of the like the family, the family,
he's always staring off into space and it's like you
had that look.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
There were some real troubles there.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
And apparently you know, it was a kind of a
I wasn't saying it was a cocktail event, but people
were dressed nicely on that Saturday night, and he showed
up with the hoodie, you know, looking like.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Yeah, which is okay, the hoodie can be.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
A good well yeah, but I mean again, the violent
nature of uh, you know, we heard so much, you
know when the OJ thing went down, and you know,
a knife is such an invasive violent and that imagine
it's your parents and anyway, it's just something you can't
even imagine in your worst nightmare.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Yeah, yeah, so yeah, so Rob Reiner.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
And I All the Family. I watched a couple of
episodes with last night.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Understand musicians.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
All the time a musician passes away, usually for natural causes,
you know, and so I'll go listen.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
To a few of the songs I want to.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
And so I did watch a couple of episodes All
in the Family last night, and well, I hope that
that was that's that's as good for those that have
never watched the show. And you know, and maybe sometimes
the ones that mean the most to us, we think,
are you know, better than other things that.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Have come after it or before it.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I find it hard to find an ensemble of the
original for I mean, they brought other people into it,
you know, they have you know, the the you know,
a Maud Jefferson, the Jeffersons. You were all spin offs
that happened, characters that were introduced into the show as
neighbors or in in b Arthur's case, or character mad
it was. It was I think, uh Ruce Stapleton's uh sister,
(17:47):
you know in the show. And but that ensemble cast
of of of O'Connor, Geene Stapleton, Rob Reiner, and Sally
Struthers was so good.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
I mean, it was just a normally was a creator
and it was kind of must see TV on a
Saturday night. That's when it was on. You know, they
don't think associates Saturday nights with viewing top viewing audiences.
Sunday nights are always at number one prime time and
you know, and for those too young to know, I
mean Rob Reiner's father, Carl Reiner was great writers, comedians, actors,
(18:19):
and he and mel Brooks but you know, we're together
forever and ever.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
And he lived.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
He just passed away a few years ago, and I'm saying,
thank god he did when he did, because this would
have been I mean, I can't even imagine, but I
think he was in his late nineties when he passed away.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Twenty I think I won that long ago.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
No, it was not you know, another end you think, well,
Carl Reiner and his association with Dick van Dyke, who
just turned one hundred, and he was my kind of
TV idol growing up. I never missed the Dick Van
Dyke show, but I mean that was the association. And
Dick van Dyke is still kicking it at one hundred
for him, but yeah, it was it was a block.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Again.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
It looks better at at one hundred than he did
at like listening to his life lessons, I do have
a great admiration for him and now he's I'm glad
he's lived a very, very long and fruitful life and
he was always one of my favorites. You you doubted
this McCarthy kid, and now look at him now.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
So let's do that the one.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Let's take a break. We'll come back and we'll talk
about the Vikings. They're on a two game winning streak.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
How about that.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Wish they would have started about seven rate nets earlier,
but that's okay, So we'll talk about that. A couple
of other items as well with Mark rose in along
with the common at Tennabe right sere in the.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Fan Cafan welcomes Transite Marian Orchestrapper two amazing shows at

Speaker 3 (19:53):
A couple thirteen fourteen past. I'm calm and he's a tennabe.
No wait, he's not common, he's common. I don't know
he's he's tend to be. I'm common, you're Mark Rosen.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Tend to be. A couple of people who said.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Now, wait a minute, if because you had said.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
And you're not the first person to say this, uh
in In sort of giving an overall review of Quinn
Hughes's game, It's like, well, it's not really, he's not
a stalwart defensive defensive player. And then someone said, well,
I thought they called him the best defensive player in
the league, So defenseman league, how do we how do
(20:33):
we make those two?
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Or is he just the best offensive defensive player?
Speaker 1 (20:39):
I mean him and Cale mccarr are basically neck and
neck for best offensive defenseman. Kale's just better defensively, okay
than Quinn is. But like I said, he's just stop
calling him a defenseman. Just call him a fourth forward,
Just call him a rover on the ice, like he's
he is not going to be positioned in your typical
spots that a defenseman is going to be positioned in.
(21:00):
He's gonna be all over the place.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Then another person writes on the Bradshawn Bryant KFN text line,
hold out, I had it here and I skipped past it.
It says, I thought everyone told me you don't get
anything for future free agents that aren't going to sign
a new deal. That was the refrain when capriceofs signing
was up in the air, and I.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Think it there there.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
There are other factors including if he has a no
if he doesn't have a no trade clause, well then
you can trade him. You know what it is is
that he's under contract until through next year.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Correct, So this year and next year, right this year,
next time you're going to make a decision on him.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
This So that's where it's like, if he if he's
not going to resign, if he lets you know he's
not going to he doesn't resign with you, you make
him a deal and goes nom and I'm gonna go
to the free agent market. Well then you can go
ahead he and trade him. Then, yes, correct, And that's
what you did. Now you might not get as much
for him because other team do know they could wait
until the free agent market.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
At that point, if you get to the summer and
he says I don't want to resign here, Quinn is
dictating where he wants to go at that point. Yeah, right, Like,
so it's not like you're going to have all right,
let's open for business. The other eliminate Vancouver, the other
thirty teams in National Hockey League, make your best offer.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
It's not gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
And then no one's going to give up a landside
for him unless they know they're resigning him to an extension.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
So he is going to kind of dictate where he
wants to go at.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
That point, so it can be a little bit so
the offer won't be as good as what the Wild
just had to give.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Up, correct, Mike. Is when they're second in a row
after a nice effort.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Against a Worshenton team that had come into the game
having lost eight in a row, giving up a league
worse seven point eight yards per pass, a ten Vikings
play really well on both sides of the ball. Probably
McCarthy's best game. It was a lot of tight end throws,
a lot of throws underneath.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
But he played well.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Then opened it up a little bit more against Dallas,
another terrible defensive team, and the Vikings win there. But
Macarthy looks pretty good in that game. So meaningless games
as far as wins and losses go. And maybe you know,
they'll move up a couple of slides, you know, like
right now, if the season weren't it today, maybe they
have the eighth pickoverall or tenth pick overall. If they
win a couple more games, they may go to twelve
or thirty. That the only thing will affect. And so
(23:23):
the games don't mean anything. But he's getting his reps.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Sure have been something to Dallas the other and they've
been very good at home and playing well. They were
highly motivated to keep their neck above water here, right.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
But there's a reason they're highly motivated in the situation, ye,
because they're not any good.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
They're not They're not there, right, They're slightly.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Above average team, terrible defensively, absolutely awful.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Yeah, and they knew that going in and you know,
yet the beginning of the game, I kept you said
it a thousand times on the air and everywhere else. Again,
just down't embarrass yourself on national television and talk about
the Vikings. You know, we've watched them get blown out,
and you know, and now actually tell by his primetime
games and what happens the first pass ball gets tipped
till the Cowboys end up with it and they go
(24:07):
in and score and you're thinking, oh, you've got to
be kidding me. But McCarthy rallied threw a nice touchdown
pass to Jalen Naylor, and you know, they were kind
of off and run and it was back and forth,
and it was a certainly very competitive game in halftime,
and the Vikings weren't running the ball much at all.
I mean, Jones and Mason had a couple of nice runs,
(24:28):
but that was about it. Thirty four and twenty nine
year it's pretty modest numbers. But the defense got in
Dak Prescott's face enough they were able to run the ball.
But Eric Wilson, who's just had a tremendous season, was
you like him?
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Don't walk Ald you not?
Speaker 4 (24:44):
I mean, koc he's been he's bounced around and done
a lot of things, but he's he was terrific and
they put, you know, enough pressure on Prescott when it mattered,
and our guy out kicked their number one kicker in
the NFL and that that helped as well. So you know,
it was nice to have I win on prime time
to play that. Well, they got a couple other you know,
(25:05):
the Giant nonwithstanding that, the Giants game this week, and
I don't expect the Giants to roll over. I mean,
I think they're they're you know, they'll be competitive enough.
I think that the Vikings are right now with two
and a half three point favorites or something like that.
But you know, they got a couple of games and
to finish the season here at home Christmas Day against
the Lions, and god knows what the Lions situation is
(25:27):
going to be at that point, but probably still be
in it. And then of course, likely on January fourth,
lest they moved a game to Saturday, the Packers, who
you know, will be in it. And those games will
be real test for McCarthy to kind of going into
the offseason and the entire team to kind of just
sort of let's see where we are. And they got
the two home games. It's nice to have that to
(25:49):
look forward to and see where this team is, you know,
and I think everyone is hopeful that McCarthy and the
other JJ will start connecting because it's it's getting you know,
it's two you know, two catches for twenty two yards
and he's throwing. As someone said, you know, you don't
have to throw Sandy Kofax fastball every time you throw
(26:09):
the ball like that.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
And JJ has also had opportunities to catch the fact
it was more of a curveball.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
Yeah, but he had a pretty good fastball too. Okay,
Nolan Ryan, there you be a better, a better example.
But I mean it's also JJ's had a couple it
just doesn't seem like they're just not in sync sometimes
at the pace of the ball and what's going on.
But you know, we've seen JJ come up with the
catches that you know that uh in positions where the
ball has been put and he just hasn't made those
with him and you know, you anticipate to just keep
(26:38):
moving the needle a little bit every time. And that's
really what we've seen a lot more composure out of
him making better decisions, not air mealing every pass. So
this is the incremental improvement that you want to see
in the month of December, because no matter what happens,
I mean, McCarthy's going to be the number one quarterback
going in the next season, and they'll likely bring in
(27:00):
another pull that name out of a hat, a veteran
that will.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Be outside field rivers. Well, he might be available. How
about that performance though, I mean, it was the phenomenal
to watch. I thought, oh my god.
Speaker 4 (27:15):
This guy gotta survived. And then I hear him say,
you know, I like getting hit. I used to tell
my wife that all the time. I like getting that
first hit. I mean, he always pulled that game out
against at Seattle. He hadn't played picked up a football.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
And how long it goes to show you how simple
the game really, Well, I can't. Well it can be able.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
You think about the people that play the game want
to talk about how hard it is quarterback and all
he just went in there, hadn't played in five years,
was winging around. Now, he wasn't no going downfield that often,
but still he was fun.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
We watched I watched the watch. I have a ticket
or whatever.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
I've got everything. I got two TVs. I got the ticket.
So we were watching. The early game was Chicago Cleveland.
We were able to get out of that the second hand,
but well it was a game, so we watched Cleveland Chicago.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
And uh, then we watched it was who else was on?
At noon?
Speaker 4 (28:08):
It was the Colts game with with who are they
playing again?
Speaker 2 (28:13):
They played Seattle.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Seattle, and then there was another noon game that we
were watching as well.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
The Colts game is three o'clock. Yeah, at three o'clock
we were watching. We watched Detroit and we were watching
Green Bay Denver.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
We were watching Detroit against the Rams, were watching Seattle
against the Colts. The early games were Bears Browns, and
there was New England and in Buffalo and we watched
well that game that goes to show you why, you know,
they everybody's always speculating about, you know, who will be
the m v P this year, and there's a lot
(28:46):
of worthy candidates. But after you watched the way Josh
Allen played again, especially in that second half, you can
see why he's to me, is I mean, is Stafford?
It's always a quarterback. It's always going to be right.
It's rarely any rarely any other position. Right, It's almost
always a quarterback. Right now, it's got to be between
Stafford and Allan. There might be one or two I'm missing,
you know, I don't know, maybe McCarthy, but other than that.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Mix, Yeah, he was in the mix. But I don't know.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
What I'm curious to see is I want the Vikings.
You know, in just one game will not a career
make or be a real real tell. But I want
to see McCarthy play against a green Bay team that
still has something at stake in the last game of
the season, because by the time green Bay gets to
that game, depending upon what happens, and I certainly haven't
(29:33):
looked and I can never understand the playoff, you know,
possibilities of what has to happen. But if green Bay's
got if they have if they can make no movement
either way for a seating, right, let's say they're locked
in at a four seat well win or lose, Well,
Jordan Love ain't playing the whole game.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
They're not.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
They're not going to take a chance on having another
Michael Parsons thing. So then again, it'll be it's not
McCarthy's or the Vikings fault, but they'll be playing a
number of backups in that game. Detroit is awful. McCarthy
should have a nice game there. The Giants game could
be interesting because they're both kind of in the same butt.
I think the Giants aren't as good as the Vikings,
but I mean they're going nowhere. They're breaking any young kids.
(30:10):
So that could be a game. Yeah, so that should
be a game in which the Giants will throw a lot.
Whatever they have, they'll throw out McCarthy. The Lions game
is I know, I keep getting down on the kiddies.
Their defense is terrible.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
We saw it again and Campbell got out coached again.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
It's it's it's well, it's.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Not just that they can't rush the pass or they
put no pressure on the passer at all. And what
happened is the Rams stole a field goal late in
the first half with you know, minutes ago, and they
marched down and get a field goal. And then they
get the ball in the third quarter and they just
carved the lines up and they they were whatever adjustments
are rade at the half. M McVeigh just completely out
coached Campbell. In other words, while Detroit is sitting on
(30:52):
the front porch, the Rams were in the house ransacking
and going.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Out the back door. You know, it's just like, well
we and you know, first that's a good line.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
That's very good lines for football fans, even before Sunday,
we're all waiting for Sunday night. We're all waiting for Sunday.
You get, you know, really good games Storry Thursday night,
the Rams are at Seattle on that you know, eleven
two eleven and three teams teaming it up on Thursday.
After that, you know, I didn't I barely even watched
that game last night. It was it was awful. But
then keep in mind because on Saturday games now are happening.
(31:24):
Phill Off, He's playing at Washington. That theory shouldn't be close.
But you get the Packers and the Bears at Soldier
Field on Saturday night. So it's a good, uh good
weekend at football before everything kicks off, and then your
your kiddies are hosting Aaron Rodgers and uh, Sunday afternoon
at three, still.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Must win for Detroit. That kind of is well, the.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
Detroit's the path of least resistance if I understand it correctly.
They got to win all three games, all winnable, you know,
home to Pittsburgh at Minnesota, though, I think that's the
toughest one.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
It's because because the Vikings defense always seems to create
issues for Detroit and they're and their defense is so bad.
I just but anyway, what they need is three wins,
(32:21):
two Bears losses, and they control one of those Bears
losses because they played the Bears in the last game
of the season. Chicago's other two games are the aforementioned
Green Bay game, Man, they play San Francisco, So those
are three.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
I mean, what they're doing, that's a tough schedule for Chicago.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
But I just think Detroit is I think they're done,
so so I think it's I think, and then I
don't think there's anybody else close enough after Detroit. Detroit's
right now, the eight seed is Dallas at nine at
six seven and one or whatever.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Yeah, they're I think they're done.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
So I think the teams that are in the playoff
picture right now are pretty much.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
The and they're gonna have a situation again. We talked
about it before even last year with the Vikings gaudy
record that they had to go on the road with
that record they had after losing to Detroit, they have
for the number one seed if we all recall that game.
But you got a situation with Tampa Bay and Carolina
pretty similar that one of those teams you know they're
both seven and seven. They play each other in Carolina
(33:21):
this week. One of those teams will have a home
game playoff game, despite not having as good a record
as one of the wildcard teams will probably end up facing.
But that's them. There's are the rules, and that's that's
just it. And Tampa Bay has been not looking great lately,
and you know, you think, what Carolina really But so
you're gonna have a couple of surprise teams.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Dallas is definitely ten because Carolina is a half game
ahead of that.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Okay, right, and what's Carolina's record? Yeah, I don't think
any of those teams that don't think. I mean, it
depends if there's collapses up in front of them. But
I kind of think the teams that are in the
first seven slots now are probably the teams that are
going to make it in the NFC obviously.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
NFC North, the NFC West. You think the Rams, the
Seahawks and the forty nine ers are all tough outs,
you know for a postseason.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
And well, they've been saying, everybody's been wanting to say
for a long time that the NFC North is the
best division in football.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
It's the West, and it's the West I think.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
I mean, at one time it looked like earlier in
the year was the NFC North. You know, three of
the teams were in really.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Good shad Green, MI, Chicago, Detroit.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
But now, yeah, the Bears could be win the division,
they could be out. I mean, it's it's still that
much at stake with everything going on. And I'm sure
you know the Packer rivalry and going into Chicago on
Saturday night, it'll be quite the atmosphere and Soldier Field
with the Packer fans there. That would be a fun
game to go to. And that'll be you're geting ripped.
(34:42):
So Rosan went into Sunday night hoping, just hoping. The
Biking Zone embarrassed themselves on national TV. What lofty expectations?
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Well, when are you going to start holding the local
teams to a higher standard like common does? I bet
Rosen has higher expectations for the chef preparing his sword
fish and the massuse has given him a massage.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
I wish I had a missus right now. Larry Mandelo, guy,
how did you know? I was shocking? Because he's the time?
Is it two forty nine and he's sitting around fiddling
around in his basement.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Do you think the Vikings have found their franchise quarterback.
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
I mean I hope they have. I mean, it's interesting.
And I remember having this conversation. You know, Chris Carter
has been outspoken still about he's a kid. He's acting
like a kid. He's talking about J mccartery. Well, let's
remember he's an Ohio State guy. He didn't like anybody
from Michigan.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
I hadn't thought, I meant that team from the North whatever,
you know, that North, that school up North.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
So when I was sitting in the press box, I
don't know, weeks ago, and and Carter came up and
tapped me on the shoulder.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
He was there.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
He goes, you know, he didn't have to do it.
He started grabbing off all the dis and jag. He
wasn't playing well at all, and he didn't have to
do anything in Michigan. Handled the ball off and he
threw you know, short little passes. And I said, well,
and I just kind of smiled, Well, Chris, he's just
you know, he's he's the kid, twenty one, he's twenty two.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Whatever.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
But he was he was even on a show I
don't know, Kay Adams or something. He was talking about
it again, and you know, because I think they were
asking you about the gritty, little gritty thing you did.
You guys talked about it earlier. Let's say, Chris, let's
just admit you're an Ohio State guy. You know, if this,
if this kid was Ohio State quarterback, you but you said,
let's let's puff the brakes a little bit.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
You know.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
He's just still in his first year after not being
able to practice last year with the jury's on.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
I hope he is the answer, because I don't you know,
I want to go through this too many more times.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Oh No, I hope he is. I hope he is.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
You know, I feel better about him now than I
did even a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
I don't you know.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
Sometimes you just go with the gut feeling and you
watch the kid play and you see the mechanics and
everything else, and you start thinking the odds are generally
speaking greater that he's not going to be a friend.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Because we've seen it over the years, how many guys have.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
Been drafted in the first round that have never panned out,
and how many turned into franchise quarterbacks. They have been
many franchise quarterbacks, but there been more guys that never
made it.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
So but yeah, he looks better. We'll see again.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
I will see I I I believe they still believe
the mechanics have to be corrected. And I think that's
I think that's that's it can be done.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
It's just like it is.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
It's it's like in anything Tenneby and I always like
to compare to to the golf swing.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
You can fix things in your golf.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Swing if you work at it, you can stop doing
certain things. And same thing as a quarterback. But yeah,
I mean for for for the for the organization's sake
and the fans and everybody. You hope he's the guy,
and it's it was encouraging the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
Well that's that's see how it and that's why it's
it's very worthwhile, not evenwithstanding the game on Sunday against
the Giants, but you know, finishing up against the Lions
and the Packers at home, that's that'll be a good
test for him to kind of go in the off season.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Well, like I say, especially the green Bay game.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
If green Bay has got something at stake because because
Green Bay is really good on both sides of the
fourth even Parsons, they're really good. So that'll be a
true test against a team that's that would be wanting
like to get from the third seas to the second
maybe whin the division, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Maybe I don't think gets to the number ones.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
I don't even know if they have that possibility now
because I don't think the Rams are going to falter.
But uh, yeah, that that that Green Bay game could
end up being a real test for him and the
rest of them, little bit particular for him exactly.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
And they get to see Snoop dog at halftime, So
there's that Oh dog is halftime halftime. Netflix is handling it.
It is on w c show as well, so you
don't have if you don't have, it's the the whole
market is allowed to televise it on a local station.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
So the last few years they run the Netflix runs
the halftime show.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
The last few years, it's sort of been a renaissance
for Snoop Dogg, right, because he's been he's been in
the last four or five years, he's been in more
commercials and living and yeah and doing this and doing that,
and I'm sure Snoop Doggs.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Most of the renaissance has been like away from music. Yeah,
we call Snoop Doggs.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
Yeah, well it'll be entertaining. People were sitting in their stands.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
I wish I was there now. Yeah, there you go.
I have to sit in this. Oh that's right. Do
you think he'll do drop it like it's hot? What
a hit? Maybe?
Speaker 1 (39:03):
I mean he's got so many hits that shooes from
a longer halftime show.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
He'll do Gin and Juice. That's a guarantee. How can
you not? I can't wait to hear and Juice? So
you'll be there? Man, are you gonna wear the lions?
Speaker 3 (39:18):
No?
Speaker 2 (39:19):
I can't do that. I'm in the iheard sweet spy.
Oh I want to come visit you, all right? I
just I I play pretty low key. I'm sure you do, right. Yeah,
well hope, I'm taking the whole thing. So you went
to see Snoop Dogg and I don't how about that's
just unfair. I'll take a picture. That's not right. I'll
let you know. I don't want to picture on a video.
(39:40):
You'll be all watch it on TV. We're done already.
Oh my god, it goes fast when I have fun.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
Yeah, and you had a blasting really, that's just your
concussion from earlier.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
To have any content of time yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
If you uh, they start to get if you start
to feel woozie, yeah, or you nauseous.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Goal see doctor, to go see Sheldon. I'm going to
see him anyway. All right, we'll see you tomorrow at
two o'clock Wednesday. Yes, sir Tenby, thanks for having meb
you as well.
Speaker 3 (40:09):

and we're back tomorrow twelve now, I wouldn't miss it.
Speaker 2 (40:17):

good night missus Calabati. Were have you listening back to
