Speaker 2 (00:27):
A couple thirteen fourteen pastime common He's tend to be
the legendary one, Mark Roseen that.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Afternoon joining us now seven stitches in the back. Yeah,
as when I last left you, that was yesterday. I
told the tall Tale. Wasn't the Tall tails real tale?
About my cat with the tail, sweet Willow, who didn't
want any part of her shirt with I did not
(00:52):
I threw off the roof. No I did not. I know, No,
I live on the thirtieth floor. That would have been mean,
that's what done. No, I would not. It was not
her fault, was my fault?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Well, no, I think the cat was like that. It
was just you were tellyis well. Cat was like the
doll in one of the best Twilight Zone episodes.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
About that was so good. It was so good, and
she was she was looking at me that that saying,
look that that doll did a Telly sala. Then you
shift over the cat. You smashed your head on head
at the end table, blood out everywhere. Basically it looked
like a crime scene. Clean cleaned myself up, uh, sucked
it up. See Sheldon, I went to, uh, well, read
(01:33):
some errands, and then I didn't know how bad it was.
Like I couldn't see the back of my head, and so, uh,
I should have had you look at it, but that
would have been probably not good. It was a big
gash in it, you know, it just had stopped bleeding.
So and I'm out of blood thinner, So I mean,
I joking aside, and it isn't a joke, but that's
a very dangerous, potentially dangerous situation, especially on your head.
(01:55):
There are plenty of horror stories about that. So I
want to make sure to have any other symptom. Was
and Sheldon said, as long as you're you know, I
think I'm relatively coherent. I could still put a sentence
together and I could understand what this saint to this point.
This was yesterday, though, I mean I was, you know,
yes correct. So I got done here and I tally
(02:15):
holed over to see Sheldon Burns and and here you
are you didn't even I bit down on a silver
bullet and he put it seven stitches in the back
of my head. A lot of people wouldn't even be
here today. Oh, I wouldn't have been here yesterday. Wouldn't
have been here yesterday. That's damn sure. I was literally
had a gash when you were here, gash, I was
here and you were here today. I'm here today and
happy about it. Car it was good. I just talked
(02:36):
to the coroner's office and uh, he's having computer problems,
so he wasn't happy. So there's always somebody upset about
something in this building.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
They're not upset down at uh at Grand Casino, Oh,
my arena.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Wild Wave last night five I watched that whole game.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
It was I think wild fever is up the Twin Cities.
This text message came in short Bran, a text on
I said, a sure sign that wild Fever's hit Minnesota
will be When Rosen finally goes to a game and
he buys his own ticket, claims to have bought his
own tickets.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I have a media pass, but I always love that one.
I'm still a member of the media, and if anything
that I've been grandfathered in. But I'll be going a
lot after the first of year, but not I haven't
had a chance yet. But I watched. I have been busy,
and I watched every minute octually. I honestly watched h
I watched every minute of that game last night I did.
I did.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
And then I start watching the Championship with the NBA CU.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
I flipped over. I was just going to say. Then
I flipped over to Prime and watched the second half
of the San Antonio Knicks game. And you could tell
you always talk about it. You know, these guys put
forth that effort. You would have sworn it was the
finals of the NBA Championship, and they kept showing the
guys at the end of the bench, especially from the
Knicks as they pulled away in the fourth quarter. Because
(03:56):
those guys earned five hundred thousand dollars last night losers
got and fifty whatever. It was not a bad consolation prize.
I know Barkley among others are ripping it, saying it's
just you know, to money grab blah blah blah, and
that does cheapen it. But yeah, you talk about an
early Christmas present for those guys at the end of
the bench and you who have two way contracts or
(04:17):
whatever the case may be, or making minimum, which is
still good money. But all of a sudden they get
a five dollars bonus.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Well, Runson, Big Bodega Cat and several other players could
have just wrote a check and handed it over those.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Well Bodega check, Bodiga Bodega Cat donated his money to
some relief fund somewhere. I think what I'm saying is
that correct. Yeah, they could, of course they could. Money's
really not that no, but they played. They played harder
than you normally. This was just me and I was caught.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Can they do another tournament than this week and then
week after that and the week after access on the way.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
You'll get him to play like that? Yeah? Probably in
the nixt are here next Tuesday nights. I'm looking forward
to that. I saw a headline.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Honestly, this is how ridiculed us it is inform Nick
Surge pass burs to win first trophy since nineteen seventy three.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
You can't climb that. If it is a trophy, it is,
there is a trophy.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
They've not won the NBA Championship in seventy three, but
you can't write.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
That headline with a straight face. Even the Knicks have
said common We're not hanging a banner. I would hope
they'd be embarrassing NBA Cup winner. I mean it's a
financial windfall for them. If you watch the game, and
I did the second half, I said after the Wild game,
it was entertaining basketball. I was anxious to see how
Wenby was doing and he was still not playing as
(05:33):
much as he's going to, as great as he is.
They had that with Stephen Castle, who was a Rookie
of the Year last year. He's damn good. That's a
good San Antonio team, really good team.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
You didn't know who he was until last week when
I told you I know it and he went Rookie
of the Year I think or something last year.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
But it was it was good, but not as entertaining
as a Wild game. I mean that that was and.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
I well, if you're a Wild fan, it was more entertaining. Well, yeah,
it was a laugh or was a five?
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Well, no, it was. I guess what I'm saying is
that the idea and a resident hockey guy, I remember
watching Vladimir Tarasenko just torched the Wild all the time
and last night he turned the clock back. He had that. Uh,
that Connor McDavid move last night, that was just dazzling,
setting setting up a teammate U for that goal. That
(06:22):
that was.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
That was That was a Caprice move. It was behind
between the legs, passes, behind the back pass.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
But the Wilder now at an NHL best seventeen three
and two since the first will come and Quinn Hughes
is undefeated. Undefeated. Yeah, the kids are good. You can
even the state of hockey and I.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Think that brings that up.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Yeah. So, uh, it was it was fun. Yeah, No,
it wasn't a Washington didn't provide much of a you know, opposition, and.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
They beat us the last time around by almost identical score.
We had one goal the last time the two teams,
it was five to one. The last time that was
back in in October when the while we're a totally
different team, terrible city, terrible fans, terrible steam, everything about
the wild was terrible.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
It was October. Oh, it was often. Now they are.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Obviously one of the best teams in the National least
at least record wise. Rights that can change, as we know,
as seasons have ebbs and flows, ups and downs.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
But as we speak right.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Now, and they're playing without several players that are injuries,
all other teams are probably in the same situation. I'm
not not acting as though that the Wild are the
only team that have players waylaid with injuries, but they
they they they they have some injuries to keep players,
yet they have two goaltenders. This is that now. Gustafson
(07:40):
started back to back games. That's the second time now
and about one ten to be about a week week
and have two weeks.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Because they were going they were alternating.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, it would be the Wall, then it would be
bus Wall, bus Wall, bus wallbus Uh gus has started
a couple of games in a row and it sits,
And so again I think it's.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Probably more of a feel and with.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
The coach things who's playing well and who isn't that,
But everything right now is UH is working well, the
extremely well for the Minnesota while.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
That duo is allowed a league low thirty nine goals
since November one. So I mean they're playing off each
other quite well. It does seem to be matter who's
in there their defense.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
You you kind of you boned up, so you got
all these stats, you're boning.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Up on the I was locked in last night. It
was good. I was I was recuperating, you know, with
the head wound and best seating the house on your couch.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Someone says that Wimby had a family member died before
the game and he was kind of bouding.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
It was difference was emotional. Yes, so maybe that's why
he wasn't. Yeah, a good point. I think he talked
about grind a grandparent. I don't know, it's a grandma
or grand A lot to do. Yeah, yeah, and that well,
you know, he they were kind of they were kind
of easing him back in then anyway, after that calf injury.
But uh no, he did not play that much last night.
But you know, the Spurs are still very very good
team obviously for lots of reasons. But at that good
(08:56):
point he did he answered I guess two questions after
the the game and then excuse.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
You know, you know it was really good and I
asked you if you would Traine Ant for him, and
you said no.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Cooper Flag said an NBA record.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
For points by an eighteen year old best to use
Lebron James. Associated Press Dateline Dallas says Cooper Flag scored
the most points by an eighteen year old in NBA history,
but couldn't enjoy the comments because it came in a loss.
Flag had forty two points, top in the previous mark,
(09:33):
a thirty seven set by Lebron James on December thirteenth,
two thousand and three. Flag said, obviously we didn't win,
so it's tough for me to want to be happier
in that. Obviously it's a success. He also twisted his ankle.
Flag also became just the fit rookie to record forty
pound points, five rebounds and five assists in the last
(09:55):
fifteen years, as he finished with seven boards and six assists.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Skys for this kid, he's a hell of a player too. Man,
they didn't keep their best player. It could really haven't
held of the team. Well, then they wouldn't have got
that pick problem. They probably will take a break. We'll
come back wars or was ping pong balls Maybe wouldn't be.
It wouldn't matter.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
We'll take a break. We'll come back with more with
a common man. Tenna being the legendary Mark Rosen right
here on the fan hockey fans.
Speaker 1 (10:24):

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Thirteen fourteen pasted on common He's tennabe Mark Rosen here
as well.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
It took quite some time, but the Twins.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Finally announced who their minority investors are, Glick Family Investments
in George G. Hicks, along with prominent Minnesota business leaders. Also,
Craig Leepold, who is the majority owner of the Wild,
is joined it independently as a limited partner. Hicks and
Glick Family Investments are acquiring non controlling minority stakes in
(11:11):
the Twins, while the family pole Ad family retains the
control of the ownership. Probably to me the the you know,
I wasn't considered so concert who the minority owners were,
but uh, Joe Polad's being owning. Uh, the older brother
Tom is going to take over for Joe. And not
only that, he's also going to take over now for
(11:31):
Uncle Jim because Jim has been doing that. You know,
they have to have a liaison between the league and
the team, and and and Jim has.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Continued in that role.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
He's now giving that a passing those duties along to Tom,
and then Tom is taking over and and you know, again,
I I don't think they've said why.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
I just think I don't.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
I think Joe was little and over his head on
that job.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
I think he was probably a lot of it over
his head. Yeah yeah, but you know, there's only so
many things he could have accomplished anyway without you know,
parental sort of of putting a stamp of approval on
payroll everything else. I'd be interesting to sit down with
Craig Leopold to get his take on what's going on
and why. Number one, why he's doing this, because basically,
(12:15):
you're what you're doing is helping pay down the pole
at debt that they have with the team. But I'm
wondering if deep down he's also because there's a there's
a big labor situation coming up in Major League Baseball,
and there's a lot of teams are anxious to get
a salary cap. We've been down this road before. To
have a true salary cap as we see the Dodgers
(12:35):
once again just reloading and adding more bodies to their
World Series Championship team that they will after this year.
There's a lot of talk already about having a lockout
et cetera, et cetera. But you know, I think it
goes both ways. It's not just a matter of having
the top the richest teams the Yankees, Dodgers, et cetera,
(12:56):
abiding by a payroll, but also having the teams like
the Twins, Pittsburgh, like Miami having to raise their payroll too,
you know, so you're not pocketing basically that money. Looking
at it that way, that you have to spend X
amount of dollars to improve your team. And I don't
know where Leopold stands and all this and why what
his motivation is to get involved in this stuff, but
(13:18):
it's interesting that his name did pop up in this
and then just an investment. Well, it might be, It
might be, it might and it's still I don't remember
too many sports franchises that end up being bad investments, correct,
But I think there might be ulterior motives. I don't know,
untunless Craig would be willing to talk about it. But
I think basically she actually had dinner with her counterpart
(13:40):
from the Twins. Yeah. I didn't hear about any of this,
of course as a diabolical laugh, but I was they saying, no,
I lost my traina thon, thank you. Uh yeah, I
don't know. I think the labor situation is going to
be fascinating as it'll It'll come up in lots of
(14:01):
discussions after this as the season kicks off, and I
started looking at that Twins starting lineup and started to
like this team.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
You like the Bell guy to at first base, and
he's a horrible first basement. It's all right, this is
his like eighth team in eight.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Years half first base glove will travel. How you've changed.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Ten years ago, you would have been saying this is
a good move, this is a.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Good move for the team. I think he's going he's
going to add a lot of power to a team
that needs power. He might see, he might hit twenty.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
I'm so negative when it comes to the Twins.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
I don't know what's happened to me. I don't know,
but I know I looked at that potential starting lineup.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Josh Bell is that his name?
Speaker 3 (14:42):
I think so? Yeah, it's it's such a perfect Twins
type player. You know that we've seen throughout the years
that that they signed in the off season. They're once
signing this offseason. Oh my, atlea, he doesn't have to,
you know, he's renting, he's not buying. I guarantee you that.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Guaranteed seven million dollars. That's a huge contract. Well, it's
from the Twins.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
I mean, I'm talking. No, it's a chump change. Yeah, so,
uh yeah, I saw that. I don't know what else
to say about it other than the fact that polads
are shuffling the deck and then the pole that name
continues to be prominently mentioned, and they're not going away
and and just a different brother, a different relative, and
(15:32):
uh from the from the Carl Pohlad empire from many
many years ago.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Here's what rand Ball wrote. What do you say, Belle
is a chance to succeed? Well, of course, he's a
durable thirty three year old switch hitter, should bring credibility
in the middle of the Twins lineup while garnering plenty
in the playing time. He surged in the back half
of last season.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
That's what they saw.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
And so you of course our glass half empty guy,
rand Ball's glass half full, like me, like you.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
This is a great, great move for this club. This
could be the difference.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
It's a perfect move for the Twins. It's what they
do best. And I wish him all the success I
hope he gets.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
I'm about to say something controversial that's interesting. My prediction,
my noster commonists Josh Bell will win MVP.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
For the Twins over the league, the American League.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
He's going to be that good. He's a difference man, Mark.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
He has a difference man. He'll be traded by August
then right.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Hold on first then and then ah, this is the
year we got a new pole.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
I love the new pole out that's running, even though
I know nothing about him, but he can't be any
worse than Joe.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Call him Tommy Boy. Tommy Boy. Yeah that's They've made
a funny movie about that. Tommy Boy sure did so. Yeah,
we'll see how that goes.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
Okay, let's do this. Let's take our final break.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
And then there's a couple of other items I think
that are worth uh.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Worth getting into purple to talk about.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Yeah, well, some controversial Oh yeah, I got some controversial
I know that material to talk about so we'll do that.
I'll give the side of the break. It's Mark Rose
in Tenneby and common here on the fan.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Minnesota, the state of Hockey, hosts the world this winter

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Co. A thirteen fourteen pass on Comedy's Tennevie Mark Rose
and is the final segment of the day Today. Head
coach at the soon to be a Big Game World
Champion Minnesotavikings Kevin O'Connell addressed the media today during his
mandatory midweek news conference. Talked a little bit about the
Giants game. He also mentioned he added to the surgery list.
(18:27):
Jay mittellas Jay Garnard was all Josh yeah, Jay, j
j period Metellus again, Jase relationship. Jonathan Garnard is Jay Gnard.
They both have shoulder issues that they're they're they're gonna
end their seasons now on a shoulder surgery. Meanwhile, Carson
(18:49):
Wentz basically has a fractured shoulder sock at a separated
shoulder and other maladies, and they throw just they tell.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Him, here's what you need to do.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Just rub a little rope at Sonata, eat some dirt
and go out there and play and not funny how
that is. He basically became He basically became the sacrificial
lamb for the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Josh sacrificial lamb Wentz. I saw him at the Vikings
Christmas party. Uh, we can have him? You did so
had his arm and sling in ken Where do you ten?
Did you get that invitation of the Vikings Christmas party? One?
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Yeah, well, if you're spouse works well, I'm an extended
family member, so tend to be pa is.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
I didn't see pa there anyway. I saw I saw
Carson Wentz there and he had his arm still in
the sling. I didn't talk to him, you know, I
didn't want to. Did you stare at him? No? Not.
I had not been to the what used to be camp.
You know Snoopy is now Nickelodeon Universe in very long time. Right.
(19:52):
Why what I mean? My my son's coming to town
next week for his birthday, and you're going to take
him there and go on the roll. But you know,
it's hard not to have your own personal memories. We
actually did it moment when the Mall of America opened up. Obviously,
it was with Channel four, and we did a special
maybe in an hour show, and I had the Tucks
(20:13):
and the whole thing about, you know, opening the Mall
of America really and I think whom I remember wearing
a Tucks and tennis shoes and that was a cool
thing to do at the time. It still is. I
can't remember who my co host was, but you know,
and a lot of people were predicting, no, Amelia wasn't
even there yet station it may have been Pat. It's
possible it was Pat. But people were predicting it's it's
(20:36):
doom and gloom even when it opened, like this isn't
gonna work. Now, there have been stores, obviously, it's a
you know how them All of America is all about it.
They've been stores, and even I think that some of
the Standard Bears have closed. But for the most part,
I mean, you go there and it's still especially this
time of year, it's packed. I mean, people as much
(20:57):
shopping as people do online. And we're we're all, uh,
we all do that, not all, but a lot of
us do. Uh, there's still the stores are doing quite well. So,
I mean, here we are all those years later. So
but I remember going.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
I think it was you and Ernie Pyle, Ernie Pile.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yeah, you really with Ernie the war guy.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Yeah, Ernie Pile. I don't think it was Ernie. It
was a female. I remember that Edward R. Merle Was
it you and Edward are? No, he was long gone.
It was a woman.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Oh maybe it was Margaret boor White, I think it was,
or could it have been Martha Gellhorn.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Have been Martha Stewart. Yeah, but it's a survived qu Yeah.
So I did, honestly. I gotta tell you. Did you
get a little sentiment of walking around and they have
this ride? Now? I used to take my kid out
of the shoot. No, they still have that. They have.
It's called Fly across America, I think it is. And
you sit in in one of those seats, it's like
a Disney thing and it's, uh, it's mind blowing. I
(21:55):
mean you fly across the country and you feel like
when you go over the mountains you missed in your
face and all that stuff, and it's you know, it's
all the three D. You know she's in three D
and yeah, yeah, Raquel was not in that, but it
was I think for even both folks like me and
the kiddos, they liked it. It was it was pretty cool.
(22:16):
So we did that. I have ah.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
When you would go down the log choot, right, there's
a camera that takes your picture it when you get
to the bottom and then you can get that picture afterwards.
I leave it and put it on like a plastic
bag tag keychain.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
So du S had done it before baby brother Peter had.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Now this is when they're like six and four, right,
something like six seven, and I still have the picture
and I wear it. I used to keep it on
my my golf bag, like you know, like you know
how you have your club tag on there, your whatever
club you belong to you, your name on someth like that.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
The logo the club. But then it fell off once.
I didn't want to lose.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
It, so I just have it keep it in a
safe spot. As the best part is is it's Pete
in the front and Deuce in the back, and Duce
has done before.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
He's got a big wide I look with a smile
on his face.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Pete's got a look of terror on his face as
he's gripped to the answer. It's just it's two completely
different reactions.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
That's funny and it's one of my favorite pictures.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Yeah, well you go, you get hit by that water.
You know, every time you did it, you forget that.
I used to do the Mystery mind ride. That was
my what the mystery mind? Right? Yeah, that was a
big one. Now it's just fly across America bit. Anyway,
it was you were missing Carson Winston. We got off topic,
but I did. I did see him that night, along
with pretty much the entire team that was there.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
So team obviously, and no team is at full strength
right now, but losing a couple of key players, uh
to the defense.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
The one thing that I found interesting was I actually
thought it was I. I was wondering if he was
talking about the same version of the Giants.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
I thought he was talking about the Michael Strahan Giants
because Super Bowl Giant. The way he talked about the
Giants was like, we're gonna have our hands was like,
they've won two games.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
They're an awful football team.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Now we're not much better, but we're better.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
I would hope we.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Would go to New York compose our will on this
club and give Jay Jay another opportunity to grow and
learn in the game and take another step toward hopefully
being the long term franchise quarterback of the soon to
be the BIGGIS or champion Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Via the curiosity factor is still there, not necessarily nationally,
with all the other more important games that are going
on this weekend, and whether or not the Lions game
on Christmas Day and in particular the Packer game on
January fourth, will if it's still going to be January fourth,
probably will be Sunday. How much meaning you'll have for
those teams.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
Well, for the Lions, here's where we'll have meaning they
need to go to.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
The easiest way to the playoffs is they need to
run the table go three.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
They need either the Packers or the Bears to go
one and two or worse, right, because one of them
is going to win a game this weekend. It's going
to be a Chicago against Saturday night game, right, and
so one of them is going to win. Where it
doesn't look too bad for Detroit is that Chicago also
has to play San Francisco and then Detroit gets them
(25:12):
the last game. So if Chicago goes one and one
over the next two weeks and Detroit goes two and zero,
that last playoff spot will be determined by Chicago Detroit
in that last game of the season. If green Bay
were to go one and two in Detroit goes three
and oh, they would supplant green Bay as that last spot.
But they have to go three and all. Green Bay
(25:33):
schedule bears this week. Then they host the Ravens and
you never know what to get out of the Ravens,
and then of course.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
The final game of the season against is Gians.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Well, the schedule makers know what they're doing with pretty
much all these you know, divisional opponents waiting till the end.
And that's the way it should be. I mean, your
best games should be in at the end of December
and early January. And so for the Vikings it is
a matter And you hear Koc, and this doesn't matter
the draft pick right now. They want to win football
games and McCarthy wants to keep getting better. This is
(26:04):
important as we hit towards really more meaningful games for
their opponents, but also from Minnesota, and I agree with that,
I heard Koc. I'm thinking I had to look up
the Giants record. They're two and twelve. I mean, and
I know they have a you know, they have some individually.
You know, they have the dark character now, a quarterback
who's kind of fun to watch. He darts around, he
runs around, and he's like, I saw what you did there?
He darts around. Yeah I did that, Yeah, I did that.
(26:27):
But U and the Vikings are three point favorites. I
was just looking this up, but they had this matchup
predictor and the Giants are fifty five percent to win
the game, the Vikings forty four percent. I'm going, wait,
why are the Why are the Vikings favored? And it's
gone up they were started. I think that it opened
up at a point and a half. Now they're faired
by three. I know we have spreads swing tomorrow. They're
(26:49):
a better team that they should be. Yeah, I mean,
they just wanted Dallas last year. I don't know what,
well Dallas is terrible. No, they're not terrible, but they were.
They still had play hopes last week.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
It doesn't matter. But there's a reason they had playoff
team because they have a great defensive team. Look at
their schedule. They have two nice wins that made people
think they were better, and then they they're Dallas.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
They're Dallas. So I'm gonna throw a wet blanket.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
I'd like to see the Vikings play well, and I'd
like to see JJ grow in the next three games.
And I'd rather they lose three games and get a
better draft pick.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
I just would. I know that I know the team.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
I know the team doesn't want to and I get
that you always want to win. No guy, And I'm
not suggesting they tank. I'm not saying I want them
to tank. I just think playing competitive games that are excited,
I'll lose on a field goal to the end. Oh well,
but guess what then, all of a sudden, going from
having the sixteenth pick overall, whatever, the all of a sudden
we go to the twelfth of the ninth, and I
can tell you right now, I know there's not a
(27:51):
ton of difference. You can get a star at nine
or sixteen or a bust to either one. But the
further you are up in the draft, I think just
the better is.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Well, I'm like a year ago when the Viking has lost, uh,
you know the meaningful, the most meaningful game against the Lions,
which was for the number one seed, and you have
to remind yourself they were in that position just a
year ago. Uh that people sort of when the when
the as we get past the playoffs and you know,
eventually the big game and then we start talking with
(28:19):
the draft already, you don't really go you know, you
don't talk too much about the you know, the game
against the Giants, whether they win or lose this weekend.
If they lose the game, you're gonna go. Well, it
turned out it wasn't a bad bad thing for the
vikingscause now they got the, as you said, a higher
draft pick. But at the time when you're watching the game,
I don't I still think the high percentage of Viking
(28:40):
fans I would assume want them to win. They do.
I don't know, I'm asking the legitimate question. I don't
know how to throw it up Paul about that, but yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Think you can still show growth in the quarterback can
be bri You can and you.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Lose, and you lose field. That's that's and I understand
that because I think you feel that. I felt that
way going into the Dallas game. I was so kind
of shrugged my shoulders about that. All I kept saying
to me. You know I said on the air a
bunch of times too, just don't embarrass yourself, and you know,
play better football, because you know, the Vikings have embarrassed
themselves too many times in national television and primetime games.
(29:18):
And here we are the first first series. Jaj gets
a pass batted up in the air and they intercept
it and they go in and score. I think, oh boy,
And then we all know what happened, and they came
back and did it. I'm gonna have to.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Try to explain this to Jeff and Montocello. I didn't
think I need an explanation, guid I did a good job.
He goes last time I checked. Hoping to lose the
last three games and tanking are basically the same thing. No,
tanking is losing intentionally. That's what tanking is. The definition
tank is losing games intentionally to improve your draft lot.
I'm not asking the Vikings to tank. I want the
(29:51):
Vikings and the Giants to be in a shootout, a
great game, and I want McCarthy to look really, really good.
I want him to have a great quarterback rating. But
the Giants squeak one out with a field goal, at
the very end, and then and then the same thing
the following week and the week after that.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
That's not tanking.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
That's being a fan that understands the further you are
with the draft.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
I just think, and I'm not just cutting the Lions
game because I think that's gonna be a lot of
fun on Christmas Day obviously very festive for lots of reasons,
and in particular because Snoop is performing at halftime. But
I think the Packer game here on the fourth of January,
you know, as they say, throw the records out the window.
I really do believe from a fans perspective, because you know,
there's gonna be tons of Packer fans here, especially if
(30:34):
the game means something to them and the Vikings. I
mean that that's going to be. It should be a
very very good football game. The Packers have to you know,
they're having they're licking their wounds right now because you
losing Micah Parsons and you know a few other bodies
that they have to deal with. But I don't think
anyone that's going to watch that game is going to
sit there and go, God, I really hope Green Bay.
If you're a Viking fan want you know, I would
they have the Vikings lose this game. I think most
(30:56):
people want always to be Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
It's because they're petty here I said, normally I'd agree
with com and want to lose out.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
But man, it would be so fun to play.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
Spoiler against all.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Right, if that's important to you, because what does that mean?
Speaker 4 (31:09):
Well, so, okay, so you plays spoiler, and.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
I think a lot of people are fire back going.
Look at if you looked at the Vikings drafts lately,
I mean, they really haven't hit home run and a
lot of them. So it doesn't doesn't it's rhetorical question.
We don't know the answer to it.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Well, my my sources tell me maybe you can confirm it,
and I because you're closer to it than I am.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
But part of I've heard the rumor that chaoc part
of his bonus well, no, his agreement to.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Sign, you know, to sign the extension was he wants
to have a bit more say in personnel decisions. Well so,
in other words, if everybody wants to blame us and
worry about him conducting the next draft, I think Chaos
is going to have more to say this year than
he did in the past. I think you I've had
this discussion for years, how much, say, does the general
(31:59):
matter how much as a coach. I know, at the
end of the day, the general manager makes the selections.
But I just can't believe that a general manager walks
up and he's all by himself in the war room,
and he listens to what the other guy says, and
and all of a sudden he goes, well, that's great,
but guess who I'm taking. I don't think it works
that well. Pretty much all that you know is put
to bed before the draft.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
I mean, they work all off season with their scouting department,
all teams do, and then putting the board together. So
when you put your board together, you pretty much stick
to what you have up there. You know. Obviously some
of the players they know are going to be gone
before they get to their guy or guys. I mean
last year, you know, Donovan, as it turned out, he
turned up, Donovan Jackson was a terrific draft pick. You know,
(32:41):
he's played really well for rookie in the offensive alignment.
But I think all that stuff is a cooperative effort
going into it. So the board is set, so I
don't know how many variations when push comes to shove
and you're on the clock and say, and all of
a sudden, you go, well, you know what, I'm changing
my mind. You know, we don't want to take this
guy at number eleven. We're gonna We're going to take
somebody else. It's like, wait a minute, we just spent
(33:02):
three months talking about this and setting up our draft board.
I don't think they're going to change at that point.
So I think that's more of a you know quasi koc.
You know the guys who are scouting right now all
the colleges as we hit to the ball season, that
they know what kind of what they want to go after,
and then they have free agency. So to be a
(33:23):
busy offseason for Rob Berzinsky dealing with all the contracts.
But it's not something they had. He hasn't done before,
and time and time again, they always managed to work
the salary cap pretty pretty effectively. He gets the he's
done a nice shop. I think overall, yeah, he's pretty
sharp at but he does yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Oh well, you know him to see him often And
was he at the.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Vier Christmas party? I think he was. I didn't see him,
but I think he was. I know Rob very well, yeah,
he says, can be Well, I mean, yeah, I know
most people are there in the front office.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
You know Rob Brazinski. Do you know Zibiger new Brazinski? No,
what was that guy from Russia? Oh?
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Russia? Yeah? Do you know him? Dude? He was another Brazils.
Can I think even though I have close ties with Russian? Yeah,
you know, I wasn't there a Brazil Russia? You're talking
about the primate whatever the president starts with the b
brushnov that is name. Pronounce his name? Yeah, let's see
(34:24):
if I got finally, don't his name zig Russian history
for a three hundred please, I can't.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Now it's going to bother me. Well, these are the
things that you up that night Russian leader guys. But yeah,
I think he was Soviet unions. So well that's us.
Are you're funny? You guys talk about other stuff? Maybe,
well you guys talk while I looked this up. This
(34:55):
I gotta look at him.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Well.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
The Wolves are Hope tonight against the are Memphis, Memphis, Memphis. Yeah,
I mean, I'm anxious to see if Ant's returning tonight.
I haven't seen an official report from anyone from the
Wolves yet to say if he's in or out, and
it's a little early yet to say that, but he's
got that foot thing, and I think I get the
feeling he is because the Wolves, I don't know, I
(35:18):
don't I just pay attention to points spreads only because
of sometimes of injured players. The Wolves went up to
eight and a half points favorite, So that to me
says that against the Grizz. I remember, the Grizz were
just on the verge of being like, I don't want
to say, like, okay, see like, but they were like, man,
this team is really going to be good for years
and years and years with John Morant, and now you
know they're they're okay, they're twelve and fourteen, but they
(35:40):
don't have anywhere near the personnel that they had before
or the opportunity to be as good as they used
to be. But then tomorrow, I've got the football game.
Ard it's already Thursday, the Rams and Seahawks tomorrow, but
the Grizz are home tonight against the Wolves. And then
I mentioned they get the next church. Zibega Nubersenski, Yeah,
how do you spell it? B r y something or there?
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Political scientist and former National security advisor in the United States.
So he wasn't with Rush, he was with us. How
was I to know he was with the Russians too?
Send lawyers, guns and money.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
His nickname was z Big.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
He was a Polish American diplomatic political scientist. He served
as a counselor to Lyndon Baines Johnson from sixty six
to sixty eight, and he was Jimmy Carter's National security
advisor for social seventy.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
What he looks like is right there. He is was
pol Yeah, it wasn't. He was a good goal He
wasn't with the Soviet Union.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Yeah, so look I had him defecting to the Soviet Union.
History really wasn't my best class. What was truancy? I
was very good at truancy. I didn't spend a lot
of time in the same class. That's Bobby obviously.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Hang out at a local McDonald's or something when he
was skip school. No, no, nouldn't think you were above that. No,
it's McDonald's.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
We were consuming a whole multi colored galaxy of a person,
dollars and screamers and laughters. Did you know there's nothing
more to prave than a man in the depths of.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
An ether binge. I've heard that.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
So what was I going to say about, oh, the
Knick of Boxers. Yes, well, here's the other thing. I
saw the it's that overreaction stuff and look, and I'm
as guilty as the next guy because we do it here.
But I saw another headline and was talking about their
first trophies in seventy three. It also said they make
a statement with that game about to the East, and
it's like, why it's one game, I mean, and again,
(37:36):
that's a nice win. It is a pretty good club
and we know that, but they were making it seem like, well,
now the rest of the league better take notice because
the Knicka Bokers are serious and they're for real. We
already know the knick about this a very good team.
They went to the Eastern Conference finals.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Right right, they're and they're equally as good, if not
better this year, and they're very talent team. That's when
I put to.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
The doctor in one game in the in the in
the money draft.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Like I said, that's it. And then that's why you
could tell those guys were putting a little extra into
it last night because they the Bigg's daughter Micah is
on the morning is on Joe Morning, Morning, Joe. She married,
that's married her per partner. Yeah, somebody else had Leonoid Bregne.
That's why we were thinking, that's a difference. That's the
(38:24):
Russian leader.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
He was the one that was pounding his shoe on
the Akita khruz Chef's head, trying to knock some sense
to him, and he got seven stitches in the back
of his head, just like you.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
I know. And I'm here. I came to work. I'm
glad you're back. I'm still happy. You'll be here tomorrow. Friends, wa,
I can't wait. I have a good week. We'll see
you tomorrow tenmy thanks for having me you as well.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
We're back tomorrow twelve Noonstick around, big ticket and bread
lake boar there next as you're on the fans, good night.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
And good night missus Calabash. We're having a fraud. Yes.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
