Speaker 2 (00:48):
This could be the call of it waiting for my
entire life. One of these days, I'm going to get
a phone call. I just don't know when it's coming,
who's going to be the the other end of the line,
and what it's going to be about, but it will
indeed change my life. A couple thirteen to fourteen passed
here in the Common Man Program, Hour number two.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Our number one was what it.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Was, fast paced, it was action packed and controversial.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Hour two will be filled with much of the same.
But right now it's not for five to three to
four time now four.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Five questions, well, actually three, but five sounds like more
than four.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
Question Number one, over or under.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
The current over under for the Vikings Browns game is
thirty five and a half. It's the lowest for an
NFL game this season and the lowest ever for an
international game, per ESPN Research common thirty five and a
half points on Sunday. Would you take the over or under?

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Well, I could just quickly answer, but then that would
make you have to ask me probably more than three,
but actually four. So let's just take a look at
this for a second. Cleveland allegedly has a very strong
defense the Vikings, despite the fact they haven't been able
to stop the run. Everybody loves b Flow, aggressive without
being reckless. Rookie quarterback starting for Cleveland Magee's National Football

(02:18):
League debut in a regular season game, So who knows.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I know he was good at Oregon.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
You talked about him earlier six year college players, so
he's got some experience. He's got plenty of college experience,
but that's not pro experience when this is you know, yeah,
but our offensive line is a mess, and you know
Aaron Jones is out.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Though our kid from San Francisco has been.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Pretty good, it does appear on paper to be a
low scoring game. Thirty five points would mean something like
seventeen to fourteen? Is how much like twenty one fourteen game? Yeah,
you're looking at a twenty one fourteen game, right, I
think I'd take the under.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Wouldn't you? Or would you take the older?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
When I first, even before we knew the other underhen
were talking about earlier this week, I said, I think
it's'ld be like a thirteen to nine type of game, right, Yeah,
So I guess by that logic I would take the under.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, I think I would take the under of that one.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Question number two, it's time.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Now's a pultiultuti pal choice.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
According to the heat index common, how would you classify
twins GM Derek Felvey's hot seat would be a safe,
B caution, C extreme caution, D danger or E extreme danger?

Speaker 5 (03:41):
What's the first one safe?

Speaker 3 (03:43):
I'd say safe?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
And the reason I say that while I don't necessarily
agree that it.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Should be if I didn't agree with Wiscagan said the
other day with us when he.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Said most of this mess has been created by up
a Bob, I mean the manager again, he's part of
the equation. You can't play as bad as that. You
know what they've missed the playoffs? Is it four out
of five years? They totally collapsed last year they had
the little thirteen game winning streak, but otherwise it was

(04:14):
a just a brutal season. So the manager's got to
have some culpability. But we talked about injuries, low payroll.
I don't think it would have made a difference at
the trade deadline had they kept everybody and added they
seemed to be in.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Big trouble anyways.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I didn't see him magical turnaround unless they would have
at the trade deadline traded for Bobby Witt Junior and Otani.
But Otani really wouldn't be a fisher anyway. So but
so it's Fallby's vision, it's his sabermetrics and analytics and

(04:53):
all of this and that, and it didn't work out
very well. So you would think it would start from
the top end down, you know, get rid of both
of them if you're going to get rid of them,
But they didn't. So I think they like Folving, They
like the saber metrics and the analytics, and I think
Falvey has an understanding that he likes the job, he

(05:14):
likes the challenge of it, and he knows the payrolls
never going up, and he doesn't care, or maybe he
does care but doesn't say anything about it. I don't
see him. It doesn't appear to me. I wouldn't think
he's in that office every day looking at Joe's I
need more money, Joe, When are we gonna spend more money?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
He takes this job, Yeah, he had different expect he was.
He was doing the same thing in Cleveland, Yes, which
is why he was hired here.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
And so I think he's I think he's safe now
if it's another really bad season or.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Two, and then that changes it.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
But like, I think he's good for a year or
two unless it's unless there's something that you know, I
don't know how you can get much worse than it
is right now.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
That's that's the problem. So but I think he's safe. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
By the way, my favorite now is.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Twins fans bringing up like the Twins have like the
second ring to prospect. Yeah, they just traded eleven of
their players for prospects this last year.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
We should have we should have decent prospects at this point.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah, and as we know, those prospects all don't always
turn out. I mean, let's let's say you've got let's
say you've got twelve guys as you think.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Are recording, they got a chance to be really good
big league ball players.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Probably two of themill end up being really good, then
three or four might be functioning.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
In the rest will be bus so it doesn't really
matter too.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Franklin numbers Gin number three, and now it's time to go.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
In the trenches.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Bill Barnwell of ESPN put together his quarter season NFL awards,
and for MVP he has Josh Allen at number one,
Daniel Jones at number two, and Lamar Jackson at number three,
Danny Dying for honorable mention, he had Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts,
Jordan Love, Baker Mayfield, and Patrick mahomes Common. Do you
agree or disagree with his quarter season NFL MVP?

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Where is Where's Jared Goff?

Speaker 5 (07:01):
Where Jamior Gibbs?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Where's a Mon Ross?

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Saint bron I feel like this should be on there
ahead of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, I don't understand that thinking.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
I think Justin Herbert should bead of Lamar.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
I agree, So Jalen Hurts too, Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Yeah, and he's been good.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
He has been good. I I don't know. I don't.
I don't know if I agree with those I don't.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I don't have the numbers in front of me of
every one of those players, and I don't know. You know,
I didn't watch the game because you know, numbers can
even be deceiving too. Sometimes you can have pedestrian numbers
in the game. But still, gosh, you know, the guy's
so good. He just you know, especially like the quarterback,
you know, manages the game well, does this of the
little things right?

Speaker 3 (07:46):
So but I I do There's a couple of those
that I do.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Uh they raise my eye eyebrows and I furrow my brow,
is what I do?

Speaker 4 (07:59):
So yeah, question number three, and now it's time to
go in paint.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Per ESPN, the twenty twenty six NBA All Star Game
format is likely to feature a round robin tournament because
it is consisting of three eight player squads of two
USA teams and one World team. NBA and Players Union
presented the formats of the Competent Competition Committee, and the
response was positive common. Would you be four or against

(08:31):
this change to the NBA All Star Game?

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Would people quit call? I mean?

Speaker 2 (08:34):
This is from Texas maybe I got an oil.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Maybe they're going to give you an oil one.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Our company is built in Texas. Oh maybe is it
a San Antonio?

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Well, maybe that's something to do with my contracts extension.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Oh I'm sorry, what was your question? Uh?

Speaker 5 (08:57):
The potential NBA All Star game format?

Speaker 3 (09:00):
No, I'm.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
USA World Team.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
It does nothing for me. Zero.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
I don't like All Star games. I think they're an
exercise in futility. I like games that means something, that
count the standards. And you know how many times have
we gone over the only real All Star game where
it seems like they really try start to finish Baseball
because as long as you're at the plate, you may
as well swin. As long as the balls hit out
to your right field, you may as well run for

(09:26):
you want to be accused of dogging it. And if
you're a pitcher, you don't want to be embarrassed by
the hitter. So I think they actually try. They don't try.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
And footballs why they abandoned everything in football? Oh? They
have you know, flag football and skills. NBA used to be.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Two hundred and eighty two to two hundred eighty one,
and I don't think that's changed in any way shape,
And that's probably why they're trying to do this too hockey.
They don't check so and what's what's to lead me
to believe that these eight round robin these guys are
going to play any harder there.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
They're not going to, So it's meaningless for me. But
if you.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Look at the world POSI shouldn't kind of they're basically
to a certain extent. Obviously it's not exactly what the
NHL did, but I think they saw the success of
the NHL actually with the four Nations face off?

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Was that a success?

Speaker 6 (10:13):
I did?

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Oh, it was a huge success. Was Oh yeah, because
the players are playing as hard as they could.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
They did.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Yes, I don't remember that. How do you not remember
that USA Canada in the ship because I didn't watch.
Should have watched. It was great hockey.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
But at the end of the day, what does it matter,
fake trophy with a fake banner.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
It's about the Cup ten because it's that's what I
care about. I care about the Cup.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
And I know you watch them in the Olympics, son,
and I know.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
In baseball they just I mean, they're just playing for
a trunk of battle. So that's not really that big
of a decent and they think so little of the
Lombardo Trophy. They just throw it from one boat to
the next, hope, not caring if it lands in Washington
Harbor or.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay. So if they want to do it,
that's it.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Hey's edition of five questions. Well, actually three questions, but
five sounds like more than four.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Let's go ahead and do one of our two giveaways.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Tom to B.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
We'll give the call of the choice.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Eleventh caller one eight hundred three two zero fifty three
twenty six. One eight hundred three two zero fifty three
twenty six. Eleventh caller gets the choice of a pair
of tickets to see Saint Thomas play North Dakota College Hockey.
It's October twelfth at Grand Casino Arena.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Or you can get a pair of tickets.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
To the just a couple of pickpockets, the Petty Theft Tour,
Common and meat Sauce at Max's on the Green and
Spicer from Woodbury. It's about a two hour drive London,
New Spicer area. It's gonna be a hell of a show.
You can get tickets with that at eventwright dot com.
But be the eleventh caller your choice of tickets to

Speaker 5 (12:47):
We'll be in one of those.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Let me ask you a question to Yeah, you're the
associate producer.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
The comedy program you want to should I also be
a senior producer?

Speaker 4 (12:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (12:59):
Should I be a senior associate producer who.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Make up any title you want? Just remember there's no
extra money with it. But you knew that without me
telling you. But because of the prison on you to
make the decision on this. When do you want to
give away those Saint Thomas North Dakota hockey tickets?

Speaker 5 (13:16):
Unfortunately they're they're already gone.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
What do you mean I gave the winner the choice.
You can have flop, sweat and tears and spice or
they took the hockey tickets.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
It's shocking.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
Huh.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Well, I was flabbergasts so I could not believe it.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
I'm stunned. I mean, I'm not literally stunned by it.
I thought for sure they'd.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Like I went Regis philbin On, who wants to be
a millionaire, said is that your final answer?

Speaker 5 (13:42):
Just to confirm?

Speaker 1 (13:43):
And yeah, he said his wife is a North Kota fan.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Okay, very good.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
We won't hold out a yearly, not a meat sauce fan.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Or a common man fan for that matter.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
I'm gonna read this text message came into a perfect
you know why, because I'm gonna throw the question to
you while I eat my line. It says, I know
you're doing five questions, but one I have maybe you
can bring up later, is no NHL team has ever
won a championship when a single player takes up more
than fourteen percent of the roster Carill cap he takes
up seventeen percent. Now, tenna tell me why the Wild

(14:19):
can win a Cup despite paying a single player seventy
percent of the cap. And yes, I know the cap
is going up, but I'm talking about right now.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Your thoughts, well, yeah, I guess he just stepped on
my touchdown call.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
There was.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
He's he's not taking seventeen percent right now because he
is making nine million dollars this year. His contract kicks
in the following year, and hopefully by then that is
when there will be a salary cap going up, so
then that percentage will change.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
Right.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Part of the reason Carill is making this amount of
money is the assumption the salary cap is going up,
and it's going up by a lot. Otherwise, nobody would
Craig Leapolden Bill Garrn would not be agreeing to this
deal unless they knew the salary cap was going up.
So that's seventeen million dollars is not kicking this this
season for twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six, Carocaphy steffs

(15:13):
making nine million dollars a year.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Let me ask you another question about that. I don't
even know, and I probably should I don't know. I
don't know what the salary caps aren't any league. What
is the current salary cap?

Speaker 5 (15:28):
That's a great question. You know, that's a great question.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Because I'm assuming it's much lower than well, I know
it's lower in football, certainly lower.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
Than it's eighty eight million. Eighty eight million, so he's
making about ten percent? Yeah, what good?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Right, So you know the cap is projected to go
to ninety five and a half was hold on, No,
it's ninety five million for this year.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
It's ninety five million for this year.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
This is what happens when you google it and that
AI thing comes up, because the AI is not always right.

Speaker 5 (16:04):
It's ninety five this year.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
They're expecting that by the twenty twenty seven twenty twenty
eight season it can increase to one hundred and thirteen
point five million.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Okay, all right, Yeah, that's you know, and again that's
that's that's a lot of money. But in the world
of professional sports, what is the NBA set?

Speaker 1 (16:26):
But knowing the Wild's luck, we're gonna find out a
year from now cap staying stagnant, Yeah, and then we're
gonna have to cut salary elsewhere?

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Can you AI can you grock aih NBA salary cap
that's got to be hundreds of millions, right, undred's hundreds?

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Hal?

Speaker 5 (16:45):
Well, yeah, I mean because.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
I think the NFL is two hundred million stuffing. I
think it's pushing three hundred. Maybe it's way more. Maybe
I'm just way off. I don't really pay that much.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
One hundred and fifty four million for the NBA for
this coming season, you know?

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Is that all one hundred and fifty four million?

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Yeah, huh, I thought it'd be much more than that.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
Well anyway, Well, but in the NBA you can still
go above it.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
You just get that luxury tech and whatever the whatever
they call it aprons. Yeah, so it's not like a
hard cap. NHL, you can't go over the cap. I
wish every league did their salaries like the NHL does.
It makes it so much like the NFL is so complicated.
NBA you can go, you can go above it. The NHL,

(17:33):
it's here's our salary cap, don't go over this amount.
Maybe the text baseball doesn't have one.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
This text mester says, maybe the caller already had tickets
to the comedy show.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
I got mine, so there you go.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Oh he's one of the few that has them.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
I should have hit this.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Yeah, common, I grew up in Wilmert and I'm thinking
about coming out and seeing the big show in New London.
So if you meet you and Meat Sauce are the
petty theft or does that make the powersit morning show?

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Organized crime? Given out? Whacking and funny? They are there.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
They are very funny. Oh and speaking of the laughter
during the comedy vibes, this one says, whoops, this one
says the boy, thank you for continuing the laughing bit.
Just wanted to let you know I care. So he

(18:32):
likes the laughing bit. It makes him happy, and he's happy.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
I'm happy. So there you go. Yeah, you know and
again you know what. The thing is terrible. At the
end of the day.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
They couldn't go out. It's too much money. We'll just
let you pledge a contractor we'll try trade and you
can you give us the list of teams you let
to play for. You can't do that. They have to sign.
You don't always get an opportunity to get I guess
he's considered a generational player, so they had to give
him the money. And if it takes, even if it
took up seventeen percent of the cap.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
Well, it takes up seventeen percent. Just because the team has.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Never won a cup with seventeen percent of of the
salar cap eating up by one player doesn't mean it
can't happen. So I don't know what where would you
draw that line? I mean, what's the most money a
player has made in relation to the cap and the
team has won a Stanley Cup championship. Give me that

(19:29):
number and then tell me should that be the you know,
the line in the sand? Then you go, well, you
know the Montreal Canadians back, you know what, well, they
even won forever.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Give me a Florida Panthers.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
They won and their highest paid player made this much
against the cap is only ten percent.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
So guess what ten percent is not? That doesn't work
that way, It just doesn't.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
It just means that we're going to have a draw
hard line that will never pay somebody over that amount,
you know, So I.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
Don't I don't think that that's ever going to happen.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
So you also, if you watched last season, it's pretty
apparent the value of Coroca precise correct to where the
team was when he was in the in the lineup
and where the team was.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
When he was with.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Then they were one of the best. They had more
with it top two.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Re completely different team in record wise in hockey when
he was there. When he was out, they they kind
of stumbled at the finners.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
And I get like it seems like a lot of
people are concerned about the money and they're concerned about
the injuries, and there's always going to be risk when
you're when you're paying a guy the most amount of
money that's ever happened in that league, there's there is
risk associated. But to me, there's more risk and thats
of reign resigning him.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
I agree with you completely. We'll break, We'll come back.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Legendary one Mark Rosen joins his deuce as well spread

nice to not have to focus on the road, very dreary.
I thirty five and I eighty, So I guess I

noon and you're two hours out of Omaha.

Speaker 7 (22:36):
Trust me, well, I hope. So it'll be a it'll
be a cat fight. And I had a couple of
cat fights last night with the Lakeville North and South
Panthers and Cougars. Had a lot of fun doing those games.
But yeah, we'll we'll settle in for kitties to hear
the cat.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Well, for the first time ever, you you had an
analyst with you. You know, generally you're doing those soccer you're
doing double headers, four hours of soccer, just.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
Going on and on, on and on and on, and you.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Had uh is it did you say, it's the uh?

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Which soccer coach was it?

Speaker 7 (23:06):
It was the the Augsburg men's soccer head coach, Greg
so Big. Shout out to him if he's listening, I'm
not so sure he knows who you are. The radio
gag fly from noon to three, but I'm not just
so sure how often he listens. But yeah, he was
on the analysis and he made my job a lot
easier because I hadn't really, i mean, double the people

(23:27):
off as much time to fill in and soccer there's
a lot of dead air, which is something folks are
used to when they're tuning into your show, but they
don't want that so much on a on a sports prodcast.
So it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Well and and this this coach, you're you're, you're, you're
burying the lead.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
He's got a lot of credibility. Did you say they're.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
The third ranked Division three soccer team in the country.

Speaker 7 (23:52):
Yes, According him, they are the third best Division III
soccer program in the country. I checked their record and
they've they've won I think they're ten and won this
these and they suffered a loss kind of recently the
Saint John's, but they won all their other games in
pretty decisive fashion. So their quality club very.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Good and too bad you didn't have the same quality
when it came to spread swing.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
And we're hurt. We're about to get to that. Are
we ready to play tenby? What do you got for?

Speaker 5 (24:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (24:23):
Going into last week, here was your standings. I was
in the lead with thirty three and a half points,
Rosen in second with eighteen and a half points, Common
in third with eight and a half, and then deuce
and last with minus thirty two. Uh, we have a
new leader an NFL spread swing and he jumps up
two spots or new leader is the common man, Dan colel.

(24:46):
How about that couple nice hits last week? You had
Detroit minus ten against Cleveland. They won thirty four to ten,
so you gained fourteen points there. You also had Denver
minus seven and a half against the Cincinnati Bungles. They
won by twenty five twenty eight to three, gains seventeen
and a half there. All of a sudden, the commmand
has vaulted up the first place with forty points.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
As right with the world, I went.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Backwards, but I did remain at least in second place.
I lost both my games. I had Green Bay minus
six and a half against Dallas. They tied them forty
to forty did so I lost six and a half
points there. It could have been a lot worse for
me on my Minnesota minus two against Pittsburgh, given how
far they were down in that game. They did make
a game of it. They lost by three, so I
lost five points there. So in the week I'm down

(25:32):
eleven and a half. I am now down to twenty
two points, sitting in second place. Rosen about as best
of the lousiest lousiest and the best week you could have.
You had Seattle minus two against Zona. They won by three,
said gained to pointsy but you lost two points in
your other game because you had Vegas minus wonning in

(25:52):
Chicago and they lost by one. They suck so you
lost two points there, so you dropped from eighteen and
a half to seventeen and a half points. You're in
third play. And then we have Deuce No. Well one.
Duce took the other side of that Arizona Seattle game,
so Rosie had been feeling pretty good about that pick.

(26:13):
So Deuce only lost one point that one, so that's
a good one for him. But he he also had
Washington minus one against Atlanta. They lost by seven minus eight,
so minus nine on the week for Deuce. So he's
in last place at minus forty one. He'll be picking first. Rosen,
You'll be picking second. You're in third place with seventeen

(26:33):
and a half, I'll be picking third. I have twenty
two points in second place in the comman Dan call.
We'll be back and clean up today with forty points.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
There's almost as many points between Deuce and I as
we are in age.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
And now I'm getting ripped on the weather report too.
Thanks a lot.

Speaker 5 (26:53):
I always love it.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Can you rip him on the weather report?

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Well, I just made a comment that the temperature is
very unlike Deuce's spread swings.

Speaker 7 (27:02):
It was brilliant I got to give incredibly well executed,
but goodness great.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
Oh well, alright, ready, yeah, let's go.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
In our eight games this year, you've won, you've had
one hit, You're one and seven against the spread souf far.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
That's like JJ McCarthy a quarterback spread swing.

Speaker 7 (27:27):
All right, I'm gonna I'm gonna take it that. The
song is done now I still can't hear it on in,
but I over. I'm good to go. So I think
one game that is. I mean, if if any of
you three took this team, they would without it out
win by ten points. Now that I'll take him, they'll
probably pull off a surprising defeat. But I think the
Seattle Seahawks are going to pick up a nice victory

(27:48):
over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Seahawks have a little
extra break. They're coming off of a Thursday night game
victory against the Cards, while the Bucks are coming off
of a regular Sunday and they are banged up. Even
though I think they've got a handful of players who
are going to play, they've they've been battling through injuries.
I know Godwin's coming back this week, I believe, but

(28:10):
they've got all sorts of players who are banged up.
Even if they play they won't be one hundred percent.
And I think Seattle's quickly becoming one of the most
slept on teams in the league. They've got Oh, Sam
Darnold had an army EI E I O, and I
think we're going to put another W in their win column.
I'll take the Seattle Seahawks minus three and a half.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
Seattle is a tough guy toat.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Indeed, spread swing all right, Oh wait, it's not my turn.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
You're taking the Lions anyway, we already know that's right,
it's not my turn.

Speaker 6 (28:44):
Well, it's the first time I'm doing it this year,
and I'm following in the footsteps of Tenna.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
You're doubling down.

Speaker 6 (28:49):
No oh wow, No, no, I'm going with the Purple
Oh not the Ravens. I really believe that despite the
fact that they've had all these injuries to the offensive
line that they knew about and of course this entire
week so they're able to prepare. I'm like a week
ago when it's an in game injuries, and I just
think that Koc et cetera, et cetera has been seething.

(29:09):
I want to say this, there's seasons on the line.
I mean in terms of giving their schedule, what they
have to do. They're facing a rookie quarterback in Dylan Gabriel,
who I don't think will cross Mian.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
No, he won't do that. He'll do that.

Speaker 6 (29:21):
But I just see the Vikings responding in a way
three and a half point favorites. Cleveland's just not that
good offensively especially that's good, it's very good, but it's
not so I I think that they're going to say
aloha to the Hawaiian morning quarterback. It's been a big
task for him, big shoes to fill coming in and

(29:43):
face the Vikings.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
Yeah, the Hawaiian kid.

Speaker 6 (29:46):
Yeah, So I'll go to the Vikings minus three and
a half in Jolie Old London is plus to They're
always Cleveland's flying in.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
They're you know, jet lagged, et cetera. I don't is
a little concerned.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
Yeah it is, but I'm saying, and here's the other thing.
So the Vikings do win, they'll win by two.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
So the bet or not then, you know, because Graham
totally it's probably gonna be a thirteen.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
Bill Riker is going to be our MBB.

Speaker 6 (30:10):
They let us be more like what happened when they
played the Bungles here. But we'll see if if Dylan
starts tossing that ball around. And you know, it's gonna
be a big task.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
We know that. Wee J J.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
McCarthy, as I was saying, even though he's two years
older than JJ, he's twenty four, hasn't played a game
in the NFL. It's okay, it's a big deal. It's
a big, big task for him to deal with this. Yeah,
he maybe he will.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
If he does, I'll I.

Speaker 6 (30:31):
Won't, honest say, I won't be here next Thursday to apologize.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
But we'll figure it out, all right.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Spread swing.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
I was concerned, Rosie that you're going to snipe me,
So I'm glad that you allowed this one.

Speaker 5 (30:49):
To get through. Okay, we got my second pick.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
I'm going to Sunday Night football.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Are you talking about the Bears.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
No, Buffalo Bills are seven and a half point favorites
at home against the New England Patriots. I'm gonna take
that minus seven and a half with Buffalo. They've won
by double digits in three straight games. I think this
point spread should be more than what it is. There's
a couple of things that is not in New England's
favor in this one.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
One.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
New England right now is twenty eighth in defensive success rate.
They're playing the MVP of the league right now, in
Josh Allen. They are not gonna be able to slow
down Buffalo's offense. The second one. If there is a
weakness on Buffalo, it's their run defense. New England right
now is the worst run offense in the National Football League,
So they're not gonna be able to expose that weakness
of Buffalo. Buffalo wins this one by twenty four points.

(31:41):
I'm gonna take the Buffalo Bills minus seven and a half
on Sunday Night football.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
I would never take a team that was given up
that many points.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Spread swing.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
Who would ever.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Consider taking a team that's giving out more than seven?

Speaker 6 (31:58):
You were to everybody that in the first quarter. I
don't know what the hell the odds makers are picking.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
The Bengals team is solid.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
Oh they're solid, all right, solid garbage.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Solid froyd on the give up on the road.

Speaker 6 (32:15):
I can't even believe they're only ten point favorites. When
question double, I would.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Because Detroit wins by thirty, that's twenty I would make Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
No, there you go. I've got already let me know. No,
I'll go ahead and now just say that.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
Yeah, that's a lot of points, but we're kind of
we're kind of hitting on all cylinders right now.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
So yeah, I'll.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
What do you think of the lines?

Speaker 7 (32:44):
Here's a quick.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Text message that came into the bridge.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
I guess my math is wrong.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
Oh what happened?

Speaker 5 (32:54):
No?

Speaker 2 (32:56):
No, This one says, question for dukes, have you you
tried earnestly and honestly making your picks and spread swing
and then against your own judgment, take the exact opposite pick.
This strategy might serve you better.

Speaker 7 (33:10):
I would. I would do that opposite pick because I
believe me. I think, thanks funk about doing that before.
I've I've hit on only one single game this year,
but I just know that the second I use my
better judgment and go the opposite way than what I
was going to do end up being correct. You've got

(33:31):
I'm going to fail, and I appreciate the advice, but
regardless of what, regardless of what pick I do, it's
gonna end in disaster.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
One more text message.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
This one says, uh preposterous statement nominee for Rosen He
said quote Gabriel has big shoes to fill taking it.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
Well I did. Yeah, yeah, you're right, that was That
was a full pap.

Speaker 6 (33:56):
I mean I should have said his own shoes, so
flack oshoes are not dead, big of Phil, You're right,
next job.

Speaker 5 (34:03):
It's gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
So we have to sing the spread swing for him,
so no one's the open is done.

Speaker 7 (34:16):
Have you guys thought of forming an acapella trio? Brilliant?
Well done by you three. I'll go with uh, well,
you know it's funny. And Detroit they used to learn
how to count own one, zero and two oh and three.
But Wayne County Mathematics department experienced so much success with
that County method it's made its way down to countless

(34:36):
other cities, including Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans are probably the
worst team in the league. They are downright atrocious, and
they have not won a game all year, and they're
not going to start this week. They've got to travel
down to the Desert take Cardinals team that's looking to
bounce back after really close loss. I think the Titans

(34:56):
are a terrible team in a terrible city with terrible fans.
I gotta give up seven and a half point, but
I think the Cardinals will take care of business and
defeat the Tennessee Titans. I'll go with the Arizona Cardinals
minus seven and.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
A half.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Spreads me on that one.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
That's the one I will dose my second pick.

Speaker 7 (35:14):
So I don't.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
I agree.

Speaker 6 (35:17):
I think Tennessee is getting worse by the week. That
should be a good pick for you. I guess my
third pick will be. And even though they're on the road.
I just Dallas put up forty last week, and you
know you like this Dallas club, No, not that much.
Their defense isn't very good, but they're playing the Jets
and the Jets are just okay. And I if Dallas

(35:39):
is going to make any sort of noise in their division,
they have to win this game. They're only two and
a half point favorites against the Jets and justin field.
So I will go with Duboys the Dallas Cowboys on
the road. I'll give those two and a half and
take the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
Dallas scares the heck out of me in spreadswingers. How
they give up forty to anybody and that could be
a huge spread sting loss. I will avoid Dallas at
all costs.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
I don't blame you. I'm taking a chance on it.

Speaker 6 (36:05):
But I'm looking at what they did against the Packers,
and I think they got to They got to be
burning up a little bit by you know, they had
that opportunity to win the game in their own field.

Speaker 5 (36:15):
Now they got to do it again. So New York,
New York, here we come.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Spread swing.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
Well, always last because you're in first place. I too, yeah,
I know it's all along. I too, am going with
a road underdog, and I can't believe I'm doing this
with this team because it's not a good team I'm selecting,
But I'm gonna take the New York Giants plus.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
Two at New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Yes, that Molik Neighbors injury is gonna hurt on offense,
but I think we're kind of sleeping a little bit.
Something that nobody's talking about around here common is the
Giants defense is pretty good, and through four weeks they've
played like stud quarterbacks. They played Jayden Daniels, they played
Dak Press, Scott Pat Mahomes, justin Herbert. Now they're going
to finally get into the junior varsity level quarterbacking of

(37:05):
Spencer Rattler and that Giants defensive line is going to
eat him. Apart the Giants win at Superdome on the road,
I'm going to take the New York Giants plus two.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Spread swing.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Question for you, Deuce, you had mentioned you had mentioned
that Tampa.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Bay is injury riddled?

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Is is is Baker Mayfield going to play?

Speaker 7 (37:37):
I thought I thought that he was banged up, but
I believe he'll He'll probably he's going.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
The question is is Baker Mayfield playing? Yes, sir, we believe,
so then I'll take Tampa Bay. I'm going had well, no,
because I like I would have taken that.

Speaker 5 (37:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
Regardless of what I like against Mayfield a lot, he's
one of He's not the most talented guy in the world,
but he's got I like his his moxie, moxie.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
I like his moxie, and I like what he plays.
I do.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
I like, you know, and I know he can be
he can be brutal a lot of times. But uh
and and maybe I'm under selling Seattle, But but I
like Tampa and I like going head to head with Deuce.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
I figure well.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
And even last week against Philadelphia, Tampa Bay they out
played Philadelphia for good chunks of that game. They had
like a what like a punter field goal returned against
him for a touchdown.

Speaker 5 (38:31):
Second half, they outscored him my double digits.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
And I figure it's a safe bet to go against
Deuce because he doesn't he misses a bay. Might even
be a good strategy of whatever Duce takes to go
the opposite. But this time I'm going to go with
Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Tampa Bay Buccaneers and
get three and a half points.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
Well, dude, what is your Uber driver saying right now?
Or aren't you in Uber right? Where are you?

Speaker 5 (38:54):
No?

Speaker 7 (38:54):
I am in an Uber and he's not. He's not
saying a whole lot, but he uh giving me a
ride And I'm on ninety four westbound. I'm just crossing
the inver Grove Heights water Tower, so I'll be at
the airport before too much longer and I'll be on
my merry way to the lovely city of Lincoln.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
Go big Rest, go Big Red.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Let me know when you get there.

Speaker 7 (39:16):
Okay, yep, we'll do. Thanks for having me us appreciated.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
Talk you soon.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Thanks du that spread swing for week five, We'll take
a short break, come back with more Rosie for the
next hour, we're here

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
