Speaker 2 (00:24):
Our morning show, funny stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
I'm comedies tend to be the legendary Mark Rose, and
I'm speaking of laughter, common meat, sauce, Larry mondel, I
want to.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Hear by Weisser.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
It's as good as show as we've ever had. In
much of the credit as your goals or the audience.
They wanted to laugh, they were hungry to laugh. They
loved our material. One hundred and fifty people. We brought
the house down and Spicer. On the way to Spice,
you go through cold Spring and you weren't kidding. I
was surprised they had paid surprise at paid Rose the
way you described it, Yeah, and you basically said it

(00:57):
was like let me in, let me and you know
the hinterland in Alaska.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
But I didn't make it sound like that.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Our friend, you were stunned that there wasn't a grocery
store within twenty minutes.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Actually, we were with our friends from from Cold Spring
in Charleston this over the weekend, so I was laughing
about that, talked about the grocery store dilemma, and Larry
Mondelo guy sent me a picture of of you know,
the Cold Spring sign. He was hilarious. Well, well, I'm
glad he thought like I said.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
I actually thought that, Well, this is what I thought
I was gonna have to do. I thought I was
going to have to drive on a dirt road, then
get out and get on a canoe and portage yeah
to Spicer. But I didn't have to do. I was
able to drive there the entire way.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Well, yeah, go through Saint Joe's too, not too far
from cold.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Do you remember, by the way, when two years ago,
maybe it was was it two years ago that I
suggested the Twins sign Blake Snell and I got ripped
by emailers.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
All they kept saying is he's been injury riddled.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
He's not.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
And imagine if we have imagine if we would have.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Signed Blake Snell and kept them kept Sonny. Well, but
I'm saying you should have but we could have said,
think we had have Blake's now Lopez, Sonny Gray and
Joe Ryan rotation. We would be in the World Series,
we'd be going to the World Ships. We'd have the
best pitching. Pitching wins championships. That's how you want. Yeah,

(02:18):
example for example, after example.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
How good does Luka doncicch look?

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Did you see they were watching on esp and they
were just doing a little piece on the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
He looks terrific, he does. I wouldn't sleep on that
Lakers club.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Oh I'm not. I think they are. Well, Lebron's missed
the first month of the season, basically, big deal. Do
they need them anymore?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well, no, they do, but they well they do, but
and he'll play.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
But it's just like first month of season.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, they in the NBA really doesn't because we've seen
the way teams treat the regular season in many games,
including the Wolves, they'll just coast and if they lose
it because they know they're going to make postseason. There
the the the there are you can probably right now
kicked the eight teams that will make it for the
West and the East might be a surprise, and some

(03:05):
team might disappoint but I think those teams know they
will be in and so that's why they do the
load management days. This is just putting all the load
management for Lebron right at the beginning of the season,
having ready to go. So well, But Dodges does look good.
He doesn't look great. He dedicated himself, he tried it.
He was mocked and ridiculed about being a little pudget
memory mad. After he was traded by by Dallas, they

(03:30):
talked to the general manager and he pulled no punches.
They basically, I'm paraflet. It wasn't the exact words, but
we said, yeah, it's not really good shape and blah
blah blah, and you know, defensively lacks a little bit
there and so now apparently it's it's the old I
think what's happened in his case is that he is
the he's a oh and he probably I don't know

(03:50):
if if he felt embarrassed by the conversation about what
kind of shape he's in, but it's obviously he must
have listened because he he looks like a different player physically.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
You know, well, that's what you did. It's literally your
your shape and your and your your determination to be
in the best shape of your career, in your life.
That's why they're paying you millions. Look at him, run
the floor, not look at him.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Look at that. Oh god, it was so beautiful. I
told you off air.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Eighty percent of the general managers, according to the Athletic
they do their you know anonymous poll, eighty percent, eight
out of every ten said if they were starting a
franchise today, you could select one player, eighty percent said Wemby.
You say, uh, You asked me if I would trade
Anthony for him?

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Yeah, and you said not in a million years. Well,
I said I wouldn't do it. I did because I
just feel his position. I'm not suggesting that Wemby is
not a going to be a future Hall of Famer.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
He's going to go down as the greatest player in
the history of the NBA if he stays helpy.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Of course he is.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Well, he will look at him. Look at the highlight
package took it. He's standing, he slams it without even jumping.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Well, they got the wolves just growing. He could do
the same thing. He could stand there and dunk the
ball to anybody. But he's not Wemby like yet not Well,
you think he's going to be No, I no, I don't,
I do not. Who knows where his potential is going
to end up. But again, I don't think he's gonna
play a lot at the beginning of the season. Doesn't

(05:14):
sound like it. Yeah, that's about a week away. I
was just reading a comment from the Celtics coachman. Do
you know what he said? He's preseason games for the
NBA complete wasted my time in the team's time. We
shol just practiced for a month and go play.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
I think it was a very import last night that
was they beat the team? Was it from China or Japan?

Speaker 4 (05:33):
That's the one game I paid zero attention to last time.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Wasn't on TV.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
I know it was, but I'm not even checking another guy.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I look for that I wanted to see.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yeah, I'm sure you did.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
It's the one I wanted to see. I want to see.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
That's about the only time you're going to see him
for a while. Unfortunately, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Jimmy Peterson thinks that he's well, he's good enough to start.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
I haven't seen much of the rotation. Maybe he'll surprise
and Chris Finch will expand that that uh, the roster
a little bit in terms of playing time.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
But I, oh, here, he already said he was going
to that's what he said.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Yeah, he's going to be included.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
In the last year, he said that he was going
to play more players.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Had they had they played Dyllane Ham and Shannon more
often during the regular season, they might have. I don't
know what they have gone finals. I don't know, but
they didn't have enough guys. They don't run deep enough.
I don't understand why you don't.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Play those three. And Jalen Clark is going to be
the third one. This thing. All those three will get,
should get and have to get much more extended playing time.
And obviously Conley is going to be limited. And you
know they don't have you know, that's the bench. Those
are the three guys that need to really contribute the most.
So I think we're about a over a week away
from starting the regular.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Season October twenty two, I think, is that what it is? Yeah,
that's next Wednesday. Yeah, Yeah, we open against Portland on
the road.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Is that right?

Speaker 4 (06:49):
I believe it's correct. Yeah for there.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Yeah, can you tell us about the Trailblazers anything. I
don't know anything about him.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
I don't. I haven't really looked at it either. They
used to have David.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
That's a lot of time, and I think he's left
that team as he or is he back with no? No,
I thought he left and went back. No.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
Is he gone?

Speaker 4 (07:07):
I don't know, but that's all I hurt. Dame got hurt.
Was he with uh midwakee? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:12):
I'm not you know, I'm not paying this close attention
to the league.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
The page here next week when we start, I started
looking at the rosters a little bit more. The meantime,
there's plenty to occupy the sports landscape.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Tell me what what what do you want to talk about? Then?
What do you got?

Speaker 5 (07:26):
Well?

Speaker 4 (07:26):
I find it interesting that for what you know, lots
of reasons, I guess the go for football team. Again,
I'm not the os makers are not right all the time.
There's a reason for that. But Nebraska is like eight
point favorites now where the golfers and they play Friday night.
We know that it's a big uh Friday night because

(07:49):
m a week and so they know no high school
competition with high school not that that always matters.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Well that's not television.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Yeah, they need to they don't have enough there's so
many games they want that that they want that they
can't play them all.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
On Saturday Hejay said the same thing, of course, but
you know the fact that the Golphers are I was saying,
prohibitive underdogs with big underdogs at home. They're playing that
game in Nebraska. Based on that, they'd be, you know,
twelve point things they.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Probably should be.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
I mean, the Golphers were destroyed by High State, and
I they were I don't know. I still I watched
part of it, as you know, I was I was
up at comedy you know, our show started at seven thirty,
but from six thirty till about a little after seven
I did watch, and then I read the recap of
the game, and they I mean, they stole one and
you know, all it wins away. You don't have to

(08:37):
apologize for it. But they were, they were, they were out.
I mean, I don't know, they gave up two hundred
plus yards on the ground and only had thirty of
their own, and they possibly stole well, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
It seems impossible.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
And U Produe is just not very good yet and
so I and Nebraska is they had a nice wind
over Maryland on the road.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
That's the Nebraska is gritty. That's not a bad cli up. Damn.
I would expect Nebraska to be a favorite.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
And unless the golfers do something, unless they play a
lot better they have the past couple of weeks, are
going to get beat by Nebraska.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Yeah, they know, But that's the thing that surprised me.
They started out like three four point favorites. All of
a sudden, the skyrocketed to eight.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Little it goes.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Back on Portland. That's what someone just tell Yeah, I
followed the followed the NBA.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, well, I wish you'd start following the NBA again.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
You're just busy going to get cold spring and going.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
To where where did you go? Charlotte?

Speaker 4 (09:31):
No, Charleston, Charleston. You're just traveling. That was That was
the bye week weekend that we got away. Now this
Friday night, I mean, I'm not going to be at
the golfer game. I'm going to see mister McCartney. So
McCartney on Friday and McCarthy on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
But Macarthy, you just live such a Let me guess
you're going those seats.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
I don't know where I'm sitting. I didn't get the tickets.
I don't know. I'm going with friends, as they say,
but yeah, I'm excited about that that I saw him
as you did a target field years ago.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
But he's uh, I wouldn't go see garage, Yeah you would. No,
I wouldn't come on, you must not listen another show.
Well No, what happened was when he came he came
back a second time to the X and I got
tickets and I walked out halfway through it because same crowd, rap,
same set list, didn't do anything for McCartney's all love

(10:23):
the Beatles, but.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I just think his I just doesn't do it well anymore.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
I understand that. But I rather see.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Tennis band Geezer or I mean Weezer, I really would.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
I'd rather see Weezer.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
I listened to one of Weezer song the other what
is It Midnight of the Sun.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Island in the Island, and was a really good song. Yeah,
we can make it Weezer Wednesdays from now on.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
It's all right by me.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
We'll take a break, come back. One more segment with
Rosie came in a little earlier.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
He's got some business attend to, so we're back up.

Speaker 3 (10:53):

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Couple thirteen fourteen pasted. I'm common, he is uh. It's
going to be the legendary Mark Brosan. This yere Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
While after the first game of the season, they were
on pace to go eighty two and zero one in
the first one and not they were they were going
to score five goals a game. You do the math,
four hundred some goals and they were going to give
up nothing. Next game they gave up seven goals. Who's
seven to four? And then I think they won? Was
is it Wallstead or Valstad?

Speaker 1 (12:21):
To to me, it's spelled Waalstead, but it's pronounced Volstead.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
And he had he was really good in the shootout, right.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
He was very good in the shootout throughout the game.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Yeah, and they and they won. We're so now we're
on pace to go. Well, we're whatever. What do you
think of your wild club now?

Speaker 4 (12:39):
Well, I mean it's uh, the power play has been electric.
They had even on their loss show and I was
I was gone. But did they have like fifty some
shots on goal? I don't know how many you probably
watched the tenant, but fifty two. I don't know how
many franchise record wall of these shots. But you know, still,
that's that's an effective offense. I mean it. I mean
it goes back to why it was in coming upon

(13:00):
them to sign capriceoff. I mean, he's the most electrifying
player in the franchise history. And it's not even close.
I mean, Gaverick had his moments and he was really
prolific goalscorer, but Capriceov is a difference maker, and he
on that power play in particular, and where he's at
and and what he does for the rest of that team,
it makes all the difference in the world. You know,

(13:20):
last night they gave up a three goal lead, the
Kings tied, it went to overtime, went to shootout, and
and Marco Rossi got the game winner, and then they
went for three Rossi And now they played a night
in Dallas, right they playing, aren't they? Yeah? Back to back?
So yeah, I mean it's you know, these are the early, early,

(13:41):
early early stages. But it just once again reinforces that
with all Caprice Souff, they don't have a franchise. I mean,
it's just keep that guy healthy and and and uh.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Yeah, but them McDavid and then who was the other
guy that signed for for.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Check Eikeel, Well, those guys just signed a couple of
years cheap.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Well like David.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
I think mcgichol is eight years, but he was a
little cheaper.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
David signed cheaper, trying to help the club at the salary.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Again, David doesn't care about Edmonton. He's not going to
be there after two years. He saw he you know,
he's been with them, They've been to the you know,
the Stanley Cup, the final. He's I think that's why
I signed a short term contract, because he wants he.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Wants a short term contract because.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
He wants out. In two years, you're not going to
be there anymore.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Oh, if you want to know what he could get
out after this year, well whatever, he's not completely accurate,
but well no.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
But I'm saying it's I don't you think that you would.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Have been a free agent after this year?

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (14:37):
I think it's a it's a last hur of yes, hey,
we need to do it here or else I'll leave.
I don't think. I don't think necessarily I want to go.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
I don't think he's trying to buy himself out of
a two guys.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
And he took a he took a team friendly so
they had more for the cat discount. Yeah, boy, he's
a krill to do that. Matter of fact, instead of
taking sixteen, he had to ask for seventeen.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Right now, he's on pace for two forty six points,
so he's worth that seventeen.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
We see a backup quarterback money. Okay, I think they're fine,
of course. Well, I mean I think they're fine in
terms of what they're paying him. I don't I don't
look at it at the while that. I mean, I
don't think anyone's saying, well that because of that their
standing cup contending team this year. They have to build

(15:26):
a lot of things. Build this thing together, uh, standing
tall together. I mean, you know, it's getting some of
the youngsters. It's fun to watch. Uh And it's the
first week of the season. Obviously, goaltending, defense, the injuries,
all this stuff play into it. But you and the
West is all. It's always tough and it's just what
you want to do is just get in there and

(15:46):
then play really good hockey next April when it matters.
And that, you know, you look at the teams that
are left standing at the end. You know that, you
look at the Florida Panthers all the time. And how
I use the word gritty, I know everybody does in
terms of what it takes to get to that point
when you have to win what four series? Man, that's
what they think. Many people say it's the toughest trophy

(16:07):
to win. And you know, I don't know, I think
that the while they're building towards that, they're not even
close to being there yet. But they got the guy
that at least will hopefully attract more players and will
you know, continue to fill the stands because it's a
lot of ninety seven jerseys everywhere.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
The best power play percentage in the history of the
National Hockey League for one season is thirty two point
four percent the Wilder right now at forty seven point
they are on pace to have the greatest history of
the National Hockey League. And I think it's because I'll
take the credit.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
They're shooting.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
Shoot shoot.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Kenneby and many others hate when the fans yell shoot,
shoot shoot.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
They think that's they do.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
They haven't had yell it because they've been shooting.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
They're shooting.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
That's what they do, is they shoot another What do
you think of that power play percentage?

Speaker 2 (16:59):
It's really good.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
It's like a batter hitting a home run, you know,
three home runs the first three games. He's on pace
the hit you know, ninety or something. You know, it's
just never going to happen, you know, I don't know,
you don't know. It might be nice to see them
play a little better five on five, but that's just me.
But I think that's the coach, that's everyone. And it's again,
we're three games into the season.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
So it's.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
What are you finding the negatives to talk about?

Speaker 4 (17:24):
What's that?

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Look?

Speaker 4 (17:24):
Are you finding the negatives to talk negatives? I think
it's what the coach has been saying. I mean, power
play has been electric. I mean that's you can't can't
afford to take a penalty against these guys. No, no, Bold,
he's a budding superstar. You know he's and uh, he's
the one now, I'm just going to say it. He's
a superstar out there. Yeah, he's really good. Marco Rossi's

(17:47):
kind of, you know, quiet at all any critics of his,
including management. We're quite sure they're going to sign him.
And boyam looks like a real good defenseman. So Lolling's
a goalten. He can hold up you know who John
Hayman and writer, isn't he? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (18:03):
He had a tweet today.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Sources Twins are seeking permission to interview Red Sox bench
coach Ramon vass Quez for their managing opening your.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
Thoughts, I can't. I can't believe he's available. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I don't know anything about him. Who does, Well, didn't
you do some research to see I.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Just read it like the media guide, like the Twins.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
That's what the Paul Eds are doing right now. They're
checking out his his resume. It's we both watching the
playoffs and and Uh, it not just seeing Polanco, which
is great. You can't be happier for him.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
We didn't need him.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Great guy, Well they got, didn't they get? Uh? Julian Forum. Basically,
it doesn't matter that you just can't give up on
players either, because yeah, but it.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
Hurts all the more because it's the get up on
that guy that went him going to the Red Sox
and he went to Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Now name, Oh that's.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Right, Well everybody because defended that is that everybody kind
of gave me.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
You know, well, well that was their fault though, because
they tried to get him hit to the opposite field
they did. Isn't that funny how the whole the whole
psychology or the psychology of the franchise change. Before it
was no, we want you to hit the opposite field.
Then it was after they won their first playoff series
they said, we're going to continue to swing for the fences.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Look look where that's gone.

Speaker 5 (19:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
Correct, This franchise is just woe be gone. I don't
even know how to say the least. There's so many
elements that are missing, and I don't know because naming
a manager from the Red Sox hitting coach or whatever
your third base coach, uh terrific. When he goes into
Pola's office of Jerrek Falvey's office, he asked the right questions.

(19:46):
Who's going to be make out that lineup for me?

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Right now?

Speaker 4 (19:48):
It's take a look at it. Other than my guy
Walker Jenkins. I'd put him in the starting lineup an
opening day.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
You've never seen him play, not in.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Person, seen highlights of them. I didn't go to Saint Paul.
I finally got here. Think about it, but just think
about it. You've ever seen Wemby play in person?

Speaker 3 (20:09):
Well, yeah, I don't go to games. I know what
a waste of time? Not a waste of time? What
hand does Walker Jenkins throw with?

Speaker 4 (20:18):
Right hand? What is he bat left handed?

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (20:24):
You did get it right?

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Yeah, I already told you I don't want to get
I've gone to so many games in my life.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
I know you love going and that I don't love going.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Well, you roles games constantly. You love going down there.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
I just for the reason why basketball game? I know
basketball is it is a good sport to see. Yeah, well,
no media seat, I'm in the media seat. Well it's closed,
but that's where are they putting you? Am I supposed
to do? Say no, put me in the second.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
Deck if you if you're regular, and you understand that
I'm not suggesting that it's.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Not snow leg room. You know better than anybody expensive.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Concession the second deck.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
The watch play yeah with that comedian guy. You were
so bitter.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
I heard.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
I wasn't bitter.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
I heard that you were.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
I really was not at all. I was better because
the thunderstorms knocked out the power for a while at
the X. That was before they renamed it. I gotta go,

Yes, sweet, sweet tickets.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Yes I'm sweet.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Last sweet sounds like that. Sounds like a heck of
an eventime. I want to show up and.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Bring some friends. I got a text.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Message from my old friend, doctor Mike, who writes, I
know everything that matters about the Boston bench coach.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
He will come cheap.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
That's criteria one two and three for twins management. Criteria
four is a familiar name, so long as he fits
criteria one two and three. That's why it will probably
be Toby garden Hier at nine hundred thousand dollars a year,
which right, he would be filling your name, and he
fits criteria one two and three.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
He comes cheap.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Oh look at this.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
I didn't even see this until just now. I mean, okay,
hold on, I gotta find the right man. I got
so many mice in here. We need a mousetrap. Scotty
from Potty, you're on the fan.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
What do you know? Fand the man? How you doing?

Speaker 5 (23:03):
You know?

Speaker 2 (23:03):
I got a daytime job, so things are all right?
How about Youah?

Speaker 4 (23:07):
Me too?

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Me too?

Speaker 3 (23:08):
How are you feeling after that that something lost?

Speaker 2 (23:10):
I know the Lion lost.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
Well, you know.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
It's yeah, you know, they're they're they're they're beat up
on defense, and you know, Mahomes is so good. You
saw it again, you know, I know there were people
that were wondering, you know last year, you know, they
got to the big game. But you know it, people
are trying to kind of describe as a game. Manager
wasn't going long anymore. He was so good the other night,
and Detroit just wasn't. So, you know, it's a it's

(23:35):
a long season. It's just what the NFL wants. So
it's like your club they start out four and oh,
then now they're four and two. Buffalo gets beat last night.
You just don't know what to expect anymore. Across the league.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
It's kind of fun that way.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
The league loves it, you know, they they want parody
and they've got it.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Four and two, about to be five and two.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
It's Minnesota week.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Who's just starting to be that Carson Wentz. They don't know, well,
I think it's going to be WinCE.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
I don't think it's going to you know, the coach
is being coy about it. The fans here in this town.
If if you gauge a radio talk show, they want
to they've already basically given up on the season. They think,
we're not going to the big game with Wentz, so
we got to see what we have in McCarthy. They'd
rather just they would rather just play play. McCarthy me.

(24:19):
I kind of like the way Wentz looked last week,
that last drive. And you know, I you know, you
know how teams are scotty, even if the fans are
smarter than the team and knows they're not going to
the big game, are going to qualify for the playoffs
at minimum. I don't think organizations think that way. And
you know, with the way the coach has been talking about, well,
we'll just see how it goes.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
I think they're.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
Probably going to start Wentz one more week, see how
he plays. If he plays well, if they were able
to upset the Eagles, and I think they stick with him.
If he loses and doesn't play well, then I think
they'll go to McCarthy.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
I don't really know that. And Carson Wentz, does he
still those big boils on his neck? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
I didn't even know he had boils. I don't know
enough about him. I know that he I know that
he played it North Dakota. He was playing really well
in your Super Bowl season, and then all of a
sudden he got hurting. Nick Foles took him there, and
then what wentz has never been the same? Get what
Nick Foles is going to be an attendance there Sunday,
and it'll be a bad idea.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
To start Carson.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Yeah, all right, me boy, thanks today by Nick.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
What's your prediction, Dan?

Speaker 3 (25:20):
I think I think Philadelphia will win by a field goal.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
Thanks for calling. Appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
You see what he wanted He Scotty wanted. Scotty wanted
to get.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
He wanted a battle.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
He wanted to that's what he's one of those things
he used to call here. Yeah, he wanted to go
and started getting. You know, he wanted me to start
getting fired up.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
And and and and.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Scream at him and get because he likes to be
an agitator. And I'm just not interested with That's not
the way we do radio here. It's just doesn't interest
me to have a back and forth. So I even
said I think Philadelphia by field goal, because that just
caught it.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
No, he didn't know how to react to that. And
then you know, he thought I.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
Was going to start talking up Carson Wentz and he's
starting about you know, boils on Carsons and what does
he talk.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
He's one of those kind of fans.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
And it's just but I you know, he calls in,
So I I gave him some Yeah, I mean no,
but I mean I yeah, right when you're right. He's
an Eagles fan, and.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
So I gave him the time of day and let
him call in.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Tend to be you know, Rose you know, I'm about
to say something I never thought I'd say.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Rosen brought up a good point, but.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
It's not as though was it his take?

Speaker 3 (26:29):
Well, I think this one in this case, it probably was,
but it's not a take that nobody else hasn't had.
Like he said, well, if a guy hits three home
runs in his first game, he's really not on page
to hit nine hundred some home runs.

Speaker 5 (26:40):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Because when I brought up the power play perfunge by
the wild, but.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
From what you've been able to gather in three games,
is I know it's a very small sample sized boat?

Speaker 4 (26:50):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Because they're just shooting more? Are are they approaching the
power play? Different. I know that didn't didn't Preeze and Suitor.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Bring in some guy a few years of mos, Yeah,
it wasn't that four power play was helping out with this.
What do you think it is or just it's too
early to tell.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Well, I mean, the the personnel is slightly different. I
would say it's probably too rely Hill I will. I
do think Ze Buyam well, he's had some flaws five
on five thus far in three games on the power play.
I do think he's an upgrade over what they've had
at the blue line. I think his his skating ability,

(27:30):
just being able to get the puckingt of the offensive
zone to begin with is going to be a plus.
And he seems to move the puck a little bit
quicker than guys we've had up there in the past.
So I do think there's an upgrade there. The other
guy that is different than that power play right now,
as Vladimir Tarasenko. I don't know if he's going to
be there long term. I would I would assume once

(27:50):
Matt Zucarella returns, assuming everyone is still this you know,
healthy at that point, which is a big assumption, that
he would probably slot in there over Tarasenko. I think
terror Sinkle's just he's not really making plays on the
power player that then he does tend to make that
cross ice pass all the way over to the other side.
I think it's just a combination of they do tend

(28:13):
to have a little bit more of a shoot first mentality.
Zee Bouyam I do think is an upgrade, and Caprice
off and Boldie are just at another level right now.
So you know, will they be at forty seven percent
by the end of the year. I'm gonna say no,
But I do think there's reason to believe that this
power play is not going to be you know, bottom

(28:36):
ten in the league. I mean they just I just
I just think Caprice Hapup and Boldie are so good.
Eric Sineka is great in his role, and Boulliam seems
to be an upgrade on the blue line. So yeah,
I do think they're going to be, you know, potentially
a top ten power play this year.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
Yeah, our playing how's your penalty kill?

Speaker 1 (28:55):
But you know, you do have to understand over in
a three game stretch, one just there's a lot of
variants there, right little like one of the goals Boldly had,
You know, you could argue that it was a week
one on Kemper. It is a very very small sample.
The other part of this is you know other teams
are going to look at what you're doing, and I

(29:16):
will say I should add to what I've already said,
and you asked me what they've done. Differently, they do
seem to be moving around a lot more right, like
they're playing a little more freer. A lot of times
on power plays you get five guys that are kind
of stationary and play in their same spots. They do
seem to be willing to have guys that are interchangeable,
like if a capri Stoff's got it, he doesn't need

(29:36):
to be standing in the same spot. He'll curl up
towards Buyum, and then Buoyam will replace Tarasenko and then
they kind of get circular. They've also had some five
on threes, which which helps with the with the percentage
as well.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Time now for NFL.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Ranking, Rank, Ranking, Ranking, So this is CBS Sports. It's
the first one I stumbled across Tiennebye. I think, pardon me,
losing my voice, or maybe it's puberty.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Yesterday I.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
Made a bold and brash prediction on who would be
the number one ranked team in the Power Rankings this week.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
You remember that discussion we had.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
You said it's gonna be Tampa Bay.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Right, CBS Sports as Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay number one
in their Power rankings. Best team in the National Football League.
Who thank you, thank you? They are at They climbed Bay,
Tampa Bay. They climb a couple of spots from number
three to number one. The Green Bay Packers at number two,

(30:41):
at three one and one.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
The Steelers at number three. Aaron Rodgers, who would have think,
thank thunk.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
That, yeah they are. What if we have a Rogers
versus Green Bay big game?

Speaker 3 (30:54):
How much fun would that be? Well, I don't know
if I could handle it. I don't know if I
could stomach it.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
I'll tell you what. Like I know, you're about to
keep moving on to the Power rankings. The Packers to me,
doesn't seem like a worthy number two pick in the
Power Rankings. But I get it because a lot of
the teams that you assumed were going to be good
going in the season, right, Like, I know, the Chiefs
are starting to turn around, but they're three and three.
Baltimore is one to five. Buffalo has looked extremely ordinary

(31:22):
the last couple of weeks. The Eagles have looked ordinary
the last cow weeks. So all the teams that you
went into the season with, even Detroit right that you
thought were going to be the elite of the league
have dropped down. But I guess I don't feel like
the Packers are like a strong number two in the
power rankings compared to most of them.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Yes, I would tend to green It's not even my
hatred of Green Bay. It's they look really good. In
the opener, they handled Detroit, they newtered that offense, they
played really well, and they.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Look good against Washington.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Then they look good against worshaton, they look like you
could make the argument they were as good as any
team in football, maybe, you know, through two weeks against
the overreaction we have every week. But then was it
the Browns loss the game in Dallas, Ti Dallas, And
then they had a nice game this past week they
beat the Bengals, which is but that's the bank and

(32:12):
Flacco almost pulled it out, you know, I mean, they
scored a Tony went for two, cut it to eight,
and then or cut it to six, and then they had.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
A chance to stop the Packers.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
But then uh, Jordan Love made a terrific throw and
that kept it going. They have the Colt set four
and I would almost have them further up than four
number one, but yeah, it's it's because I don't think
they've I don't have their I know they're five and
one and I don't have all five games in front
of me, but it was I think still, but they

(32:45):
were beating. They've been dominating those teams. That's that's the
beauty of it. The Lions have plummeted. They were number
one last week. They're down at number five now, followed
by Broncos, Seahawks, Rams at eight, Pats at nine, Bill
at ten, Chiefs have jumped to eleven. They were sitting
at sixteen last week. Eagles dropped ten spots Tenney Wow,

(33:08):
they're down to twelve, followed by the Chargers, Jaguars forty
nine Ers and the Vikings. Actually, with their win, they
come up one spot Tennaby they are at remember sixteen
and the Bears are right behind them at seventeen. Regarding
the Vikings, it says they come off their buy with
a big home game against a desperate Eagles team. It

(33:31):
looks like JJ McCarthy should be back under center for
the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
That's what they're saying. I don't know if they have.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Inside they wrote huh who wrote it? I don't know
as a ESPN.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
You know this is CBS. Is this p D. Prisco? Yeah,
this is Pete Priscos.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
I was wondering if it was ESPN because something they
will have like individual writers for each team write something.
So if that was a seafer, ye, I think that
would have been big news.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Yeah, this is not an individual and this is just
Pete Prisco put it together. You know, maybe Pete's just
or maybe he's guessing. I mean, we talked about this.
Look at how the Vikings started. They started with J. J.
McCarthy as their starting quarterback, no bones about it. They

(34:18):
could have re signed Sam Darnold. They did not want to.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
They could have.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
As somebody texted me that said, well.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
They I think he said they offered Darnald or Danny
Dimes a contract.

Speaker 5 (34:31):
Well I.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
Don't know if they did, but my guess the Colts
offered a lot more.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
That's the problem.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
They the Vikings were not interested in giving Danny Jones
starter's money.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
They weren't going to say we.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Believe in you were going to give you one hundred
million dollars or even fifty million dollars.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
I'm guessing the Vikings were probably relatively competitive from an
offer standpoint. I'm guessing Indians was slightly more. But you know,
he got one year, fourteen million company. He's technically he
was in a co petition with Anthony Richardson. But to
your point, I think it was more. I'm sure, and
he's offered slightly more, and you had a better chance

(35:09):
of getting the job there.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Right because they were sold to McCarthy and then you
had Aaron Rodgers bye bye. By all reports, he wanted
to play in Minnesota. He wanted to know. He wanted
to play at least one more season. You want to
play in a place where you had the best chance
to win. And we all talked about how ready made
this this this club was redoing, rebuilding their interior of

(35:32):
their offensive and defensive lines, a lot of good.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Skill position players. You got b Flow and you got
the quarterback whisper. Why wouldn't you want to play here?
And we didn't want to.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
His contract was cheap too.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
Yes, so if you started with McCarthy, you it logically
you would say, well as soon as he's ready to
play again, he should be the quarterback. If that's what
you really wanted to do. Yeah, I just don't know.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
If you know. The thing is is ted meet onto.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
The NFL stands for not for long, and so just
because that was your going into the season five weeks in,
you can change your mind after what you've seen from
a player, where you see where your team is, where
it's been.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
The NFC is wide open. There are so many people
that are emailing us and saying we're not going to
the big Game. Well, yeah, probably not.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
But you know, if think about it, if how many
seasons do most teams realistically have a chance to go
to the big game, twenty five of them don't, or
twenty of them don't. They still try to win football
games and hope to get there. We've seen teams that
really weren't expected to get to big games surprise people

(36:42):
and get there. So let's not pretend that it can't happen.
But my point is is, yeah, if they started the
season with McCarthy, if he's healthy enough, he should start
this week.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
If they're going to stick to their guns on October fourteenth,
there's probably one team in the NFC. That's like, we're
not going to the big game, right, and you know,
not that everyone else is convinced they are going to
the big game, but they all right. I mean the
New Orleans Saints at one and five, I think they
know what that roster. They're not going to that game.
But even like the Giants at two and four, you're

(37:15):
telling me their team and their fan base after you know,
Jackson's Jackson Dart is giving them a little bit of
a spark and they just beat the Eagles. Even they're going, hey,
maybe we could make a run here. Absolutely right, and
they're two and four. Absolutely almost every team thinks they
show Cowboys are two three and one and they're going.
Dak Prescott's playing great. If we can get ceedee lamback.
George Pickens has look great. Like our offense is as

(37:38):
good as anyone in the NFC. Is we got it
if we can to show up the defense a little bit.
Probably should have traded Michael Parsons.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
Vikings are getting all sorts of players back Cashman this week.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Offensive lineman is O'Neal going to play? We think he might, right.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
It sounds like it's possible. Donavan Jackson and Bryan O'Neil
could both be back, and I saw a story today
that the offensive coordinator, off of Blake Brendel's performance last week,
he's like, well, maybe this is just his position moving forward.
That center might be his best position. Darophin's line might
be locked and loaded ready for Phillielsaal.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Aaron Jones be back soon, right or not.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
I haven't heard much on him lately.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
But our other core, our running back has been pretty good.
I mean, why wouldn't we think that we could. We
were one came out of first.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Play with it.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
There's a lot of fans out there that have just
given up on this club already. I'm disappointed in those fans.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
You know what I think it partly is. I think
it's the psychology of if the Vikings start Carson Wentz,
the average fan goes, oh, they're not high on JJ McCarthy.
We got to start this whole thing again.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
You know.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
It's a psychology whereas if he does start, oh, maybe
they do have some hope in him and they believe
in him. Even if he doesn't do well, we still
have long term hope. They don't want that hope taken away.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Yeah, I think you might be right.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
Whereas I can still look at it logically and go
Just because JJ McCarthy doesn't start doesn't mean that they've
given up. Can I give you a really bad analogy?

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Yeah? We love bad analogy is all we do here.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
My daughter Ingrid is five and a half years old.
She's trying to learn how to tie her shoes. Okay,
just because if I, if, I, if we go home
and try to tie her shoes today and she tries
to do it, just because she doesn't do it, doesn't
mean I'm giving up on her. Never get texture.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
She made analogy actually right, Do you think JJ McCarthy
can hiresh Now.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
I'm gonna have to help her in this moment tie
her shoes, But long term, I still think she's gonna
be able to tie your shoes.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
I'm not afraid of the dark anymore, and I can
tie my shoes when I have been to the country
and I'm going to school.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
It's an old I don't know what that means.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
It's just an old limerick from back in the day. Well,
we'll see. I still think it's going to be WinCE.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
But like the fans seem to, at least, you know,
it's it's unscientific. But the fans that email me in text,
they want to see McCarthy. And if the Vikings truly
they started the season with Macca, they were they were
hell bent JJ McCarthy was going to be their starting quarterback.
And we think we can we can groom him into
into into into into a top five, top ten type quarterback.

(39:59):
Then they probab we should start him this week if
he's healthy, play him well.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
See.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
And I think what you mentioned earlier of could have
had Rogers, could have had Daniel Jones, could have had
Sam Darnald.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (40:10):
I think people don't want the season to be given
up on. I'm not saying you're giving up by going
to Carson Wentz, But if you are going to Carson
Wentzel with the rest of the year, now you are going, well,
why didn't we get Aaron Rodgers? Why didn't we bring
Sam Darnald back? Yes, why didn't we make a better
offer to Daniel Jones?

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Remember, Wentz was if it wouldn't have been now maybe
that would have changed here as the season has progressed.
But to start the season, Wentz wasn't going to be
on any team. He was not on a roster, he
was on his couch. And because Sam Howell is that
who it was, was so ineffective. I think the Vikings
just and you know what, I was playing for Philadelphia
this year. Maybe maybe I'll come in at some point

(40:47):
and you know what, I don't think Sam Howell let
