Speaker 1 (00:01):
Head, common man, common man, don't show people solid plan,
a secarit approach, or fail to in. It's time for
common man. Man, common man, charge of houseless I go

(00:21):
and can.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
What should well reply's nonsense? I'm deck today to day man.
It's time for common man.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Why should anybody aspire to be a common man? An
average man? Do you realize what it means to be average?
That means you're the best of the lousiest and the lousiest.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Of the best.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Now, if we demand more and more for producing less
and less while they have not, nations encourage and inspire
and indeed require hard work and maximum effort. If we
deify the common man while they encourage and reward the
uncommon ones, the end result of such a lopsided raceist
that is too obvious to require elaboration.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
I mean, it's like, hello, Mavera, we say it was
gonna be a tough guy game.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
I get enough criticism from letters and from the media,
and from the talk shows and from the guy that
does the noon hour and all the people that are
hitting on me all the time that I don't need
to like add fuel to the fire and tell you
where I've made my mistake.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Lucky.

Speaker 6 (01:45):
Yeah, Rosie, you did to dry your own conclusion from people.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
We're happy for you.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
They Tampa Bay.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Talk about guys stealing from one to three.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Love.

Speaker 7 (02:18):
You ought to pay that station to be on there?

Speaker 8 (02:24):
Yeah, I think I do.

Speaker 9 (02:31):
Ladies and gentlemen, we're seeing what a sophisticated offensive ingland
looks like.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
You talk about it, right that right?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
That catch you?

Speaker 4 (02:47):
He said, Okay, I'm.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Gonna say you doubt enough. But now we're here super
Bowl home boy, stand up, Madam, stand up. He's the

(03:12):
clown from Brown, He's the fourth in the North. This
is the common man, Dan Cole.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Common man. If I'm supposed to be somebody else, while
I would look like me, I'm the common man, Dan Cole.
He's tending to be a little ak akadec and dada
to act you and yours trunk cater this it's only
thirteen hours. This week we had another coaches show. Can
we squeeze in? I can't pronounce the last name of
the women's basketball coach yet it's down. Could we have
heard do a show to show well? I mean that

(03:42):
would be really great. We're here until three o'clock. Mark
Rosen induce will join us at one thirty four. Program
are not program password but for spread Swing. But we're
excited and delighted to be joined in studio by. I
was going to say Team Peterson, but it's now Team USA.
Isn't that cool? Comment? Uh, that's got a nice ring

(04:07):
to it, does it?

Speaker 10 (04:08):
Does?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Say it again, I'll do it no longer Team Peterson.
It's team us A the USA USA. Yeah, thanks for
coming in. We do appreciate that, thanks for having us. Yeah,
oh absolutely. And Tanneby asked me if I would if
I remember it's it's Tina and Tony. I do, I

(04:31):
do get I've got to figure it out. Tabitha, you're
the pharmacist. I had to ask Terry, you're the dentist.
Can you look at my crown for me during the.

Speaker 11 (04:43):
Need to do that?

Speaker 4 (04:46):
And uh, Tabitha is the older sister. You're the younger, obviously,
obviously you're the skip in your the second Yeah, yeah,
I have a certain figured this.

Speaker 11 (04:58):
Did your research, my rech reading to figure.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
This stuff out.

Speaker 12 (05:01):
I am and.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Your third Olympics, correct, Tabitha and Tara, it's going to
be your second Olympics.

Speaker 11 (05:09):
Yes, he keeps pointing at us.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Does it get all the Olympics.

Speaker 11 (05:15):
No, I didn't think so it's got a nice ring
to it. They're all different.

Speaker 8 (05:18):
So yeah, we're really really looking forward to Italy. It'll
be a nice change from we've been to Beijing, China
and South Korea.

Speaker 11 (05:28):
So yeah, we're excited.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Last Olympics, did you finish six seven?

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (05:34):
Sixth six? It wasn't the podium. We weren't happy, So
that's why we're doing it again.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Yeah, right, right, right right. How disappointing was that to
not get to the point. I mean, because you work
so hardier for one every once every four years, and
you get there and then you finish six it's kind
of like, do you ever think yourself, is this even
really worth all the work we have to do to
get there? I mean, I could see where that could
be a I mean.

Speaker 8 (05:53):
It goes through your brain for sure, but I mean, yeah,
we're just of course, we're just happy to be there
and and get the chance to experience in the opportunity
to represent our country on.

Speaker 11 (06:04):
The biggest stage.

Speaker 8 (06:05):
So yes, that in itself is amazing, but of course
you want to come home with some hardware, and yeah,
I don't think we were like overly disappointed, but you
kind of have I mean everyal Olympian has these kind
of like post Olympic blues that you kind of go
through with just now, like, now, what's my purpose now
that the Games are over? And I, you know, kind

(06:26):
of I was training for this for the last four
years and now what and I didn't get a medal?
And you're just kind of sad. But then you decided, well,
am I going to go for it again? Because it
takes a lot of time and effort and lots there's
tons that goes into it, obviously, but we are quite
thrilled that the last four years has paid off and

(06:46):
now we're gonna we're gonna bring home some hardware every feeling.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
I think you will too, because I would have to
think that. I think sometimes people that are kind of
roy your eyes, shrug your shoulder and shake your head
when people say, well, more experience, the better it is.
But I got to think that would be once you
know your very first Olympics, you're just probably just an
awd even being there. You can't believe yourself. And I
mean I'm actually at the Olympic Games and I was like, well,
we've been there now, we kind of got the routine

(07:10):
down and now it's time. Okay, that was great getting there,
but now we, like you say, it's the old wanting
to bring home some medals.

Speaker 13 (07:17):
Yeah, yeah, you're You're absolutely right that that feeling of
you're just happy to be there.

Speaker 11 (07:21):
What's what's going to be cool about.

Speaker 13 (07:22):
This one for me? Like, like you said, this is
only going to be my second, not my third.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
You rub it in a little bit everything.

Speaker 13 (07:30):
Yeah, yeah, right, but there were no spectators in Beijing,
no family, no friends, So like you make a fantastic
shot and it's just crickets.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
So I.

Speaker 13 (07:42):
Get fuel from the fans and from people chanting USA
and and just you get that vibe going. That's what's
going to be I think a big game changer for
me personally, but the team is just you just use
that energy and go with it.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
So that really helps when they Yes, if there's a
crowded that makes a huge difference.

Speaker 11 (08:00):
Do you just know people are behind you and it
just it sparks you.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Since the last Olympics where you've finished sixth, then to
get to where you are now, how much curling did
you do and how much of it was to make
progress to get to the point where you had a
chance to qualify. I mean, is that were you every
four Is it just that? Were you playing curling like
every week every month the last four years in competition

(08:26):
or just practicing? How did that all work?

Speaker 11 (08:30):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (08:30):
And no.

Speaker 8 (08:30):
Like our season schedule is usually about September through March April,
kind of depending, and then we tend to have a
couple months off in the summer. So yes, within the
last four years we have been training and even in
the summer we're just focusing on our office, training in
the gym and stuff. But then from September through March April,

(08:52):
we are competing in various events, whether it's World Curling
Tour events, Grand Slams, National Championships leading to World Championships,
just all that stuff. And it's just it's a lot
of travel and time away from the family. And then
when we're we are home, we're practicing as much together
as we can. But we have one of our teammates

(09:14):
living in Duluth, and then Taylor, she also lives in
the city, so we've been practicing with her a lot.
So yeah, it's it's it's a it's a commitment for sure.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
With the at the risk of sounding stupid, which is
not fin You look at me, I'm stupid written all
over me. How many of these events, these regular season
you accumulate points to advance to get to a point?
Does year one and year two, year three between the
Olympics is at all adding points to that was not

(09:45):
a stupid question, That was a good question. Thank you appreciate.

Speaker 11 (09:48):
Yeah, you're welcome. You're welcome. Uh yeah.

Speaker 13 (09:50):
So every event we get points for if you do well,
and so that's how you get ranked on the World
Curling Tour per se.

Speaker 11 (09:59):
But how you get into the Olympics.

Speaker 13 (10:02):
Or I should say how the US gets a spot
into the Olympics is based off the last two World Championships,
So you get points based off how well you do
at the two World Championships prior to the Olympics. So
for US, we did not do well at the World
Championships this last March, so we did not get our spot.
Like the US to not get a spot at the Olympics.
So we after winning the US Olympic Trials, had to

(10:24):
go to like a last chance Olympic qualifier. So we
were just up in Colowna, British Columbia, last week and
that's where we got our spot.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
And as we talked about before we got on the air,
you were behind early, I mean not like way behind,
but Norway got off to an early start, right. They
were up three to zero early on.

Speaker 11 (10:44):
So we were never worried.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
You never worried.

Speaker 11 (10:46):
It's a long game.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Yeah, does a change your I mean, I don't know
how be like I said, be behind three. Oh, it's
a long games. You're not worried, but still it's not
how you want to start, But no concern.

Speaker 8 (11:00):
Yeah, I mean they they had the advantage of starting
with the hammer, which is an advantage if you start
the game with the hammer, which is last rock rock
right right end, and they got that because of their ranking,
like after the wrong robin, they were ranked higher than us.
So you know, you know going in that that's a.

Speaker 11 (11:20):
Part of it.

Speaker 8 (11:21):
But you hope to only give up one or two,
and we gave up three. But you know, like she said,
no big deal. We weren't worried. It's a ten end game.
It's a long game.

Speaker 11 (11:29):
And the end right.

Speaker 13 (11:29):
After that, we got three, but I got three. In
your face, it's sweet.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
What's that thing called you just said? The last they
have hammer first. Is that sort of like I play
shuffle board, not the same. It's got the hammer if
I've got the last out.

Speaker 13 (11:43):
Yes, yeah, so you're more likely to score if you
have the last stone advantage.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
Kind of like having the hamm. I'm gonna use that
when I play shows.

Speaker 11 (11:50):
I think, yeah, really smart.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
You guys have been doing this a long time too.

Speaker 11 (11:54):
I mean you guys were like children.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Eight or nine years old, right, eight and ten? And
if I remember, I thought, you told me you guys
weren't like did fall in love with it right away?
It was like, it's okay, but you liked other sports
and other activities better, right.

Speaker 11 (12:11):
M hmm exactly.

Speaker 8 (12:12):
But we stuck with it, and look where we are.

Speaker 11 (12:16):
It's been good, doing very good do it.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
What would the other sports did you like? If you
could pick another sport, golf would be well.

Speaker 11 (12:23):
Yeah, we'd go to warmer places golf.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
You think about that.

Speaker 8 (12:28):
It's true too, you I grew up. I mean we
both kind of played the same sports, but soccer, softball,
we liked cross country ski, we like to bike, but yeah,
golfing is a big one in the summer too.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Rich jone guy's brother's guys is going to teach me
and my wife how to cross country ski even I'm
too old. Even tried sixty seven sixty seven? No, I
think I am. I think I could hurt myself really bad.

Speaker 11 (12:51):
Be careful, definitely don't go downhill all that stuff, and
it's just like a lot.

Speaker 8 (12:55):
You're just kind of gliding like we just do the
classic style.

Speaker 11 (12:58):
We don't do the skate skiing.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Okay, I mean.

Speaker 8 (13:00):
You could try that one.

Speaker 11 (13:02):
That one takes a little more effort.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
I tried the downhill on a bunny and I couldn't.
I just I'm not very coordinated. Maybe curly would be
more for me, because it's like, no, I don't think
I'd be any good at it, but that I I
just but do you have balance?

Speaker 11 (13:16):
Can you get into a lunch show us? Can you
get down into a lunch position deeper?

Speaker 6 (13:24):
I can't defensive tackle.

Speaker 11 (13:28):
I don't think.

Speaker 13 (13:31):
Sorry, you know, if I was going to be the Olympic,
could teach you could come out and we could try.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
I'd like, yeah, maybe I'll take you up on that one.
I'd really like if I was going to be in
the Olympics, I want to do couch luge.

Speaker 11 (13:43):
Explain that to you.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Well, I'm really good at laying on the couch, okay,
so just take the couch and push it down the hill.
I'll send that to rewrite and have them punch it up.
I thought that was funny couch luge because I like
to lay on the couch, really good at that. And
take a break. We'll come back. I want to talk
about the upcoming Olympics, and we want to talk golf,
T B A, all sorts of questions too.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
I know he do.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Of course he wants to grill you, so we'll take
a break. We have the Team USA Peterson's sisters here.
They're going to go to uh is it court Tea.
It's where they will be for the Olympics. We'll take
a short break and we'll come back with more after
this year on the fanily Yeah, Team USA, Team Peterson,

(14:34):
the United States Olympic team for the for the women.
At Courtina is where you'll be playing, correct Courtina. I
have several text messages that have come in. This one
says hold on that's my text message. Sign give me
a second hold on my mom's technology technology six see

(15:00):
uh six seven John from John from Plymouth. Awesome to
hear my friends team Peterson on KF and so proud
of my fellow Olympians. So John, yeah, a shout out there?

Speaker 8 (15:14):
Where is it John Benton? From you said from Plymouth?
Always John, there's a few.

Speaker 13 (15:20):
Johns that it could be where there's a lot of.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
Three zero's the most dangerous leading curlings.

Speaker 11 (15:29):
Yes, how's a good inside joke.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
And then there's this one that says I watched all
of the how do you say it? Cologne, Colonna, Cologna games?
Am I right in thinking they were deliberately putting Norway
in situations where their skip had to do high pressure draws.

Speaker 13 (15:48):
So with curling there are stats throughout the week and
there yes saying which turn you're better at, which shot
you're better at, so you can see that information.

Speaker 11 (16:01):
So yes, we if we had a choice.

Speaker 13 (16:03):
We would make the Norwegian skip do an intern draw
because she was only like twenty percent on.

Speaker 11 (16:08):
Those Oh yeah, with the analytics it was intentional.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Well, we were talking often the games can go two
three hours and there is so much strategy to it.
I was doing the old shuffleboard comparison again where you
call them guards right where you say, well, we're a
great spot there. So our next row. We're just trying
to put it in a position so that it prevents
the other team from knocking it out of point potential, right, yeah.

Speaker 8 (16:35):
Yeah, lots of strategy and like yeah, shot selection, there's
lots of options, right, the right shot call is the
one that's going to be made. But at the same time,
you're taking into account your player, what you want to
leave the other team and ice conditions, like people on
TV usually can't see what the ice conditions are doing,
and like me as a skip, I'm reading the ice

(16:56):
kind of like engulf reading a green.

Speaker 11 (16:59):
And you know, every sheets different.

Speaker 8 (17:01):
Some are sloped one way or the other, or it's
like a w or it's high in the middle, it's
like cone shape.

Speaker 11 (17:08):
So there's a lot of.

Speaker 8 (17:09):
Reading and mapping out the sheet that I need to
do to put the broom in the right spot so
that my team can make shots.

Speaker 6 (17:16):
After the last Olympics in curling, like in a four
year stretch, are there like elements of your game that
you're like, we need to improve on this area, Like
what have you been what have you been working on
to try to become a better team.

Speaker 12 (17:27):
I guess in the last four years.

Speaker 11 (17:30):
That's a good question.

Speaker 8 (17:35):
Well, I think one of the biggest things we focused
on this summer really we practiced earlier than normal because
of the Olympics coming up. In the Olympic trials, we
wanted to peak in November versus peaking in like February,
which we need to do again.

Speaker 11 (17:48):
Obviously, But double peak this year, don't.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
Yeah, double peak, But it just getting all our deliveries
similar more similar because you know, everyone throws the rock
a little bit differ. You have your different tendencies and stuff.
But like I said, in terms of reading the ice
and putting the room in the right spot for my
team to make shots, if everyone can throw it more
similarly in terms of like how many rotations and are

(18:12):
you putting a little set on it and your leg
drive all that stuff, if it's more similar, then everyone's
rocks are coming down at the same arc and they'll
act more similarly and you can just make more shots.

Speaker 11 (18:24):
There's a lot to it.

Speaker 12 (18:25):
How often.

Speaker 6 (18:27):
Do you guys have disputes with each other on what
strategy should you should be doing in a certain right?
Like if one sorts of things, we need to go
this for oute one third one bird, Like how do
you resolve that in your whatever thirty seconds you have
to make that decision.

Speaker 13 (18:39):
Yeah, we are timed, so we don't have that much time.
If we really disagree with the call that TAB makes,
we call it to one of those things what I
lay down in front of the hack and say you
cannot throw this rock. Then I will tell her that
I really dislike this, and then we'll talk about it again.
But otherwise we can usually get on board. But you're right,
we have very limited amount of time to make that decision,

(19:00):
so you kind of just got to go with it.
Everybody get on board and do your best to just
make that chot.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
How often do you second guess yourself? Is there a
lot of second where you go, why did I do that?
Or why did I make that call? Does that happen all?

Speaker 8 (19:11):
Sometimes if there's a shot called and either it was
made or wasn't, and then the team does something, I'm like, oh,
I didn't think that they would do that, like dang it,
Like yes, of course, but you learn from it and
move on.

Speaker 13 (19:23):
Or one of the things we do is we watch
our games after the fact and learn from Okay, that
probably wasn't the right caller.

Speaker 11 (19:30):
Oh I should have gone with that, and one of
the things we always say is tab you got to
go with your gut. Her gut's always right, so to
not second guess ourselves.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
You knew the equivalent of the NFL's twenty two wide
and you look back at the games.

Speaker 8 (19:42):
Yeah yeah, yeah, we watch our own games, we watch
other like our opponents games.

Speaker 12 (19:46):
You say you're scouting ahead.

Speaker 11 (19:48):
Yeah, yeah. Curling is a true sport. Weird, right, Yeah, it's.

Speaker 6 (19:51):
Crazy you too, I believe since the last time we
saw you both become mothers. How does how has that
impacted your ability from a curling training standpoint, Because there
are a lot.

Speaker 11 (20:03):
Of work, yes they are. It's been a lot of
good work.

Speaker 13 (20:07):
Like it's been fun, of course, but it just makes
us be more strategic with our time. We say, we
work smarter, not necessarily harder. And you just every chance
that you get to be on the ice, to be
with your team to work out, you're just making the
most of that time because you just don't have unlimited amount.

Speaker 11 (20:27):
Of free time anymore.

Speaker 8 (20:29):
And just just a lot more planning in general too,
like with childcare and who's gonna come with and help
with the baby, and just a lot of.

Speaker 12 (20:37):
Just say are they coming up to eataly with.

Speaker 11 (20:39):
They Oh yeah, yes, of course. Yeah.

Speaker 13 (20:41):
We have a big supportive system coming with us and
like to have said, finding childcare during this event and that,
and there's just a huge village behind us that has
been so helpful in watching our children when we need
the help.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
Take us through not necessarily a day by day. But
what you'll do between right now and when the Olympic
starts in February? What do you you ramp up? Do
you do? Scouty? I mean, are all of them?

Speaker 8 (21:03):
What?

Speaker 4 (21:04):
What's what's your schedules?

Speaker 11 (21:05):
Like, well, tomorrow I'm going to go to work. Okay,
that's important.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Some crowns and some fillings.

Speaker 11 (21:12):
Yeah, well we'll start today after the show with.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
You do you are? Are you Tavis and dentist?

Speaker 11 (21:18):
I cannot say?

Speaker 4 (21:19):
And then are you her farm? Then are you her pharmacist?

Speaker 8 (21:22):
If I cannot say? So we have we have one
more event in January. The last Grand Slam of the
season is in Steinbeck Steinbach, however we say it Manitoba.
It's a little south of Winnipeg. So we'll head there
January fifth through the tenth. I think it is so

(21:42):
that that's our last kind of our only event between
now and the Olympics, and then we have a couple
of practices, like.

Speaker 6 (21:48):
A tournament, tournament, tournament, like after you qualify for the Olympics,
before you get to the Olympics.

Speaker 11 (21:53):
Yeah, and we'll play a lot of the tea, a
lot of the play.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
I was wondering if they were just you know, okay
teams that they're going to be an augew like this
is Team USA, but.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
There's gonna be other old Now you got to throw
them off and act like there's certain throws you can't make,
so then they try to put in those spots.

Speaker 11 (22:10):
Maybe we'll curl left handed white chess. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (22:15):
But then yeah, between now and then, we're taking a
small break with Christmas, of course, the holidays, and our
teammate Corey in Duluth, she's actually doing double duty in courtina.
She's playing on the mixed doubles team and the women's team.
So her and our coach are our women's coach coaches
the mixed doubles squad too. So they they have a
few more other things, like they're going to Sweden and

(22:35):
then they're going to the Games about a week or
two earlier than us. So yeah, there's kind of a
lot of logistics, but we're just.

Speaker 11 (22:42):
Going to try to make the most of the little
time that we have.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Totory. Now you will have bake, so I'm gonna work
on my lungeing and sometime. Yeah, and you guys can give.

Speaker 11 (22:52):

Speaker 6 (22:55):

us your medals when we'd love to?

Speaker 4 (23:00):

to Manny's.

Speaker 13 (23:03):
Okay, okay, okay, call you had said it was Chili's.

Speaker 11 (23:08):
I'm okay with Manny's.

Speaker 6 (23:09):
I accept that love was the bit we can't afford
Manny take the Chilis, but we'll take you out to dinner.

Speaker 11 (23:15):
We said it. It's on the air, We'll take it.

Speaker 12 (23:17):
We'll take it to Churchill Street.

Speaker 11 (23:18):
Okay, oh yeah, we love that area.

Speaker 12 (23:20):
Yeah, it's a good place, very good.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Thanks for best of luck. Take congratulations. I'm getting in
the Olympics and bring back bring home the gold. As
they say, us a Usa us. Thanks again, that's a
tam Usa. Tabitha, you bet. Tabitha and Tara Peterson, Mark
rowse In and my boy Duce join us next for
spread Swing. You're on the fan.

Speaker 12 (23:45):
Cavan.

Speaker 6 (23:46):

Keword Calendar.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
It's a couple of thirteen fourteen pass by the way,
take care of some housekeeping. That was John Benton of
the Olympic Men's currently team that was giving a shout
out to the Peterson sisters. No longer Team Peterson, at
least for now, they are Team USA USA. I'm comedies
tend to be excited and delighted to be joined in
studio by the legendary Mark Rosan. Good afternoon, A good

(24:32):
afternoon to you too. And then look here waiting patiently,
and again I'm having sure there we are waiting patiently
on the brad on the Kinetical Water Systems hotline. My
first born duws was that me boy. Nothing much.

Speaker 9 (24:48):
Arden Hills, like I've said before, is a great place
to work. So I'm enjoying my day. They've got all
the restaurants and there's even a shower in the office.
In like a couple of weeks back, I went for
a run and got cleaned up, and I realized I
didn't bring a pair of socks to change into.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
But there's a.

Speaker 9 (25:03):
Target just down the road. So I walked into Target
to buy a pair of athletic socks. But I did
not leave with a copy of Home alone. To Mono Targets,
I'm not meat sauce in that respect. But it's a
great place to work.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Yeah, it is a great place to work.

Speaker 7 (25:18):
Think about it all in hills, long wind joke.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
So that's not that's not too bad, it's pretty good.
I kind of liked that one better timing. What I
was going to set you up for another line, wasn't I? Oh,
you know, how do you spell dad.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
A c M?

Speaker 4 (25:37):
When most people are listening to the program, what are
you listening to? Tuitiones? He calls it tuition plenty.

Speaker 9 (25:47):
Of tuition payment, so about eight as a matter of fact,
one breach semester. So I thank you kindly for what
I bringing your nonsense to listening public.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
It's what it's what I do. Are we ready to
play a little spread swing?

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Spread swing?

Speaker 7 (26:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (26:11):
Going into last week, I was in the lead with
seventy nine and a half points, Common you were in
second with forty nine and a half points, and Deuce
was in third of eighteen and a half points, and
Rosen in last with minus four. There's no more laughing
at Mark Rosen anymore, though, no more laughing because the

(26:34):
score exactly.

Speaker 12 (26:35):
He had a good week last week, sure did? He picked?

Speaker 6 (26:38):
He picked Philadelphia minus thirteen against Vegas and doubled down.
Philadelphia won by thirty one, so that eighteen point victory
gets doubled down into thirty six points.

Speaker 7 (26:50):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (26:51):
And then he took Denver plus two and a half
against the Green Bay Packers and Labdanko has won that
game by eight points. Hold on, where's your delition a button?
Here's a ten and a half. All of a sudden,
Mark Rosen's in the mix to win this thing. He's like,
whoa forty two and.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
A half points?

Speaker 10 (27:12):
Wow?

Speaker 8 (27:12):
Week?

Speaker 10 (27:13):
Wait?

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Who's which means we have a new person in last place?
And it's it's basically where he's used to. It's where
he's comfortable. It's it's his Brian duncing.

Speaker 12 (27:23):
Swaartly new deuce.

Speaker 6 (27:25):
You're know you're not in last place, even though you
actually gained a point this week. Oh man, you did
take Tampa Bay minus four and a half and you
wasted your double down because they were up by two
scores and Atlanta came back. You like that, you liked
that to win that game twenty nine, twenty eight, So
you're minus four and a half. You lost five and
a half and then you double down from minus eleven.

(27:47):
You I doubted Philip Rivers when you come up. Came
up with your take last week, and Philip Rivers kept
it close enough as you had Indianapolis plus fourteen and
they only lost by two to Seattle, so he gained
twelve points with that one. So on the weekend gained
a point. But you're now in last place, Duce, you're
at nineteen.

Speaker 9 (28:03):
Abnormal for me.

Speaker 12 (28:06):
You're now at nineteen and a half points common. You
had a good week. You're Detroit Lions lost you a point.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
They were minus they were plus six, excused me, and
they lost to the La Rams by seven, So you
lost the point there. They lost me my sanity, but
your Chicago Bears. You had them at minus eight. They
won by twenty eight points.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
Stare down at Chicago Bears.

Speaker 12 (28:28):
You gained twenty.

Speaker 6 (28:29):
So all of a sudden you jump up to sixty
eight and a half points. And I had a pretty
mediocre week. I had New England plus one. They lost
by four to Buffalo, so I lost three points. And
then I had San Francisco minus twelve and a half
against Tennessee. They won by thirteen, so I gained half
a point. But on the week I lost two and
a half. So here's where we stand. Now. I'm in

(28:50):
the lead with seventy seven, but it's much closer now.
Common you're at sixty eight and a half. Rosen, you're
now at third place at forty two and a half,
and Duce, I can't say last place because you've got
a respectable score of nineteen and a half points.

Speaker 12 (29:04):
We'll say you're in fourth place plus.

Speaker 6 (29:06):
Anyway, it's so weird seeing Deuce now at minus one
hundred at the stage, at the stage. The great order
today is Deuce, Rosen Common me.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Spread swing.

Speaker 9 (29:25):
Well at the risk as sounding like Rosie or one
of the many other duckies and bunnies in the Twin Cities.
Minnesota minus two and a half again the Giants is
a steal. I mean, I understand both of these teams
are eliminated from postseason play, neither one really has anything
to play for.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
But I think the.

Speaker 9 (29:44):
Giants currently have the number one pick in the draft,
or if they don't have it, they're very close to it.
So they they're taking the idea of not having anything
to play for to a whole other level. Jackson Dart
has have like six seven concussions this season and I
don't know if he's even going to be playing, and
the Giants are just banged up, even outside of the

(30:05):
quarterback position. So I think the red hot suddenly red
hot JJ and the Purple are going to waltz in
to Giants territory and pick up a nice win. I'll
take Minnesota minus two and a half and oh.

Speaker 4 (30:20):
That's a good one. That that's the one I would
have taken.

Speaker 6 (30:22):
I fear with teams like this, especially in the vikings
right like tharout the stage where they don't have a
lot to play for. You're not playing a division rival
like guys like Christian dearrisol you like you don't play
all of a sudden, you could start sitting some of
those guys out.

Speaker 4 (30:34):
So Gernard's not going to play and tell us and
the one thing about the Giants apparently they're not too
bad at rushing the passer.

Speaker 12 (30:42):
They've especially in the interior.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
Yeah, one of the one of their plaique his name Escapes.
I think he's number two in the league in sacks. Yeah,
now he's quite a ways behind. What's just who's the guy?
That's Miles Garrett. Yeah, Miles Garrett. He's gonna he's gonna
set the record, I would think, right, I mean, is
he a half a sack away or back away from
from the new National Football League records?

Speaker 10 (31:03):
So I just.

Speaker 6 (31:07):
Tweet from Ben Gestling Christian Dursa not practicing again today.

Speaker 14 (31:11):
They won't shut them down spread swing. Well, I'm going
to go old school here because it's the team I
used to pick a lot, and more times than not,
the King threw for me. And I know, but if

(31:31):
you look at their records, you think, what are you thinking?
Why why would you pick them? Because I think the
New England Patriots are a bit.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
Of a fraud. You do, I do not their fault.

Speaker 7 (31:43):
I mean they've been fun to watch, and they be
you know, they're they explosive team, but they haven't. They've
had a last play schedule basically, and they've run rough
shot over a lot of bad teams. They're running into
a Baltimore team at Baltimore that is desperate for a
win this week.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
There's a reason they're desperate because they're not any good. Well,
they're they're not.

Speaker 7 (32:00):
They haven't been great, I will give you that, but
I think they got one more left in him, so
I will go to Orioles. I mean the raven I
mean you're going to Baltimore, going with the going with
the Ravens.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
Take care of business against the Pats. I'll call your
lead short lived.

Speaker 10 (32:19):
Well that's a bad Okay, you can take New England
New England. I just wanted to say, you want to talk,
all right, So you got Baltimore minus three versus New England.

Speaker 15 (32:32):
Yeah, spread swinge.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
No, I know that. I'm the first one to say
just because something has happened over and over and over
again doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen again. The Lions,
I think all season long, whin one lose one, when
one when one, that would mean they're supposed to win
one this week. I'm not so or that. I think
a Rodger is having the time of his life right now.
He knows that he's closer to the end of the

(33:05):
end of the end than he is to the beginning
of the middle of the end. I was gonna say
this was its yesterday, I never got to it. I
think that that Kevin O'Connell did Aaron Rodgers a favor
because if he were playing here, I don't know if
the Vikings would be that much better, even though Rogers
is a better quarterback than Winson McCarthy. I just with
the way the offensive line was and I just don't

(33:27):
know how much better they would have done. So now
he's in the think right now at the playoffs and
they they're they're leading the division. It's Broggers right now,
so they're they're a quality club. They're not great, but
Detroit's had all sorts of trouble. Doesn't matter who they play,
but I got to stick with the bit and I'm
gonna take Detroit and they should win this game. I mean,
they are at home, and if they if if, if,

(33:48):
if it goes to how it's been going, they should win.
You know, they they lose, they win, they win, they lose.

Speaker 6 (33:53):
So I'll take the kiddies with Allotically, I was just
way more explosive of them.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Yes, and so I'll I'll go with I'm not real confident,
but I'll keep going to bit and I'll give up
the seven points and I'll take the Motor City Kiddies
to win.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Spread swing.

Speaker 6 (34:17):
Philadelphia favored by six and a half at Washington.

Speaker 12 (34:20):
Rosen.

Speaker 6 (34:21):
Now, Philly gave you a bunch of boys last week.
I thought you might go back to that. Well, but
I'm going to go back to that.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Well.

Speaker 6 (34:29):
You know, I feel like they're getting their groove back
a little bit. I know they're playing a really bad
Las Vegas team, but completely dominate them. Now they get
a really bad Washington team that had lost eight in
a row before beating the bad New York Giants last week.
But that Washington defense is one of the worst five
in the league. They've now shut down Jayden Daniels for
the rest of the year. And I think Philadelphia is

(34:51):
gonna basically replicate the performance they just had against Vegas
last week and they're gonna win big. So I'm gonna
take the Philadelphia Eagles Go Eagles six and a half.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Spread swing.

Speaker 9 (35:12):
Well each and every week. I get more confused by
Vegas than they are handicappings of games, and one of
these NFC South matchups here I'm very confused by. I
don't understand how Tampa Bay is favored on the road
against Carolina. I understand that they're are relatively evenly matched club,
but Carolina is on their home turf and Tampa Bay

(35:33):
has been just spiraling out of control lately. They completely
blew that game against the Falcons last week. I think
they've lost out of their last eight games, They've lost
like seven of them or something. They looked at the
beginning of the year like they were going to be
a quality postseason team, but now they may be on
the outside looking in because Carolina is going to play

(35:55):
him two more times, and I think Carolina is gonna
win probably both of those games, especially this Sunday's contest.
It's in Carolina, and I get three points to take
the Panthers, who I think are the better team. So
I'll take Carolina plus three against Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay,
by the.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
Way, I had a text message come in that says,
uh with Deuce in the last place and spread swing.

Speaker 12 (36:17):
It says.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Now I know what Common meant when he said will
be living in the basement for quite a while.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
Very well done, spread Swing.

Speaker 7 (36:34):
But why wait till Saturday or Sunday when you got tonight?

Speaker 4 (36:38):
Tonight's tonight. He's sniping me.

Speaker 7 (36:40):
And all I know is that Sam Darnold had nightmares
last night when he saw those Ram uniforms dancing in
his head thinking about what happened in the playoff game
last year against against them with the Minnesota Vikings, and
now he has to face that Rams defense tonight. I
know he's playing on his home court, so to speak.

(37:01):
The Rams are a better team than Seattle, and uh,
I think I think they got Donald's number. I think
they got there in his head. They look what Flores
did to get after even though you know Seattle, we
know what happened in that game. But I just think
the Rams have got Donald's number. So I'm gonna go
with the Rams tonight on the road, a tough place

(37:21):
to play always, but doesn't matter to them. So I
will pick the Rams and that arsenal they have with
the Maddie Stafford, et cetera, et cetera to big battle
for the Western Division lead tonight, so I should be
a entertaining game, high scoring game.

Speaker 4 (37:35):
But I like the Rams over Seattle.

Speaker 12 (37:39):
I thought about that one because I too like the Rams.

Speaker 6 (37:41):
Apparently they had a bunch of travel issues yesterday I
saw trying to get to Seattle. And then also DeVante
Adams is doubtful for tonight. That's a little concerning.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 6 (37:49):
So I avoided that for that reason. But yeah, I
get it. They'll get a defensive touchdown or two. You
seemed like he wanted to say something. They're kind of
wait for my turn to pick.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
Swing.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
I have thought about Seattle in the Rams, but then
I thought about Chicago over Green Bay. I think Chicago
is going to destroy you?

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Did I?

Speaker 4 (38:21):
But I don't know. Now I'm thinking, I just this
idea that Sam Donald is having nightmares about him. See
what that is is that you're still so annoyed that
Sam let the Vikings because it's spitting facts and because
he's no longer with us and a lot of people
that I should be the you're sticking up for the

(38:42):
coach and the team, your wife. I didn't think anything
of that at all.

Speaker 7 (38:45):
I'm looking at the history history so this is what I'm.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
Reading a lot. I know how your mind. M Bryan Flores,
do you Donald? Because if Donald has Sam, if Donald
is brilliant tonight, then you're.

Speaker 7 (39:02):
Gonna second get. Maybe we should have canned. I'm trying
to win this contest, is what I'm trying to do.
I don't really care to give a rip about I
like Sam Donald is a nice human beings, I think, man,
but you know, come on, I mean, he's he's facing
the rams and they know.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
How to get to him. That's all. It's as simple
as that. All right, you hate Bay. I'm not going
to say, Tenny, I'm taking Seattle. Donald will be brilliant Seattle.
I just this. Everybody in this town they're so sold
on McCarthy. They want McCarty. And I know, why do you
want McCarthy to be the guy, because you have no
choice now he is your quarterback, and everyone say it's

(39:40):
all Sam Donald. Look what, Sam, it's your way of
making yourself feel better about Sam Donald, Levy Sam. If
Sam Donald will with this club, this team would be
better off wins losses, they might be fighting, they might
be spot And I'm not even I'm not demigrating him
at all in that context. I'm just looking at recent
history mirrors. I'm just looking at recent to have McVeigh

(40:04):
and the rest of the Rams all A'll take.

Speaker 12 (40:09):
It the CLOUDI there tonight. That's the question.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
I was going to take Chicago without without Mike Parcell.

Speaker 12 (40:15):
Now I'm going to take him.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Well, yeah, spread sway.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
Chicago's a tough guy.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
I too.

Speaker 6 (40:28):
Yeah, I like Chicago as well. I'm gonna say Chicago
plus one at home against the Green Bay Packers. If
you remember last offseason, there were two teams that invest
invested a bunch of money into their offensive line, the
Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 12 (40:42):
Well, we've seen the fruits of the labor of the.

Speaker 6 (40:44):
Bears spending money on an offensive line because right now
their fourth in the NFL in past block win rate,
and they are number one in the league and run
block win rate. And now they ain't got Micah Parsons
to deal with on Sunday. So Ben Johnson and that offense,
they can run the ball as well as anyone. Caleb
Williams is having a great season. I think green Bay

(41:07):
all of a sudden, they typically green Bay has the
edge in the trenches, but without Micah Parsons, I don't
think they're gonna have that edge anymore.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
Soy by the way, Saturday night, just so if you're
keeping track.

Speaker 6 (41:15):
At home, Yeah, I'll take the Bears plus one at
home against the Packers.

Speaker 7 (41:22):
And there's a fun, fun weekend, a lot of great games.

Speaker 6 (41:25):
So we got to figure out spread springtime for next week.
I'll be Tuesday because I'm yeah, I'm in Tuesday, but
I'm out Wednesday me too, So so can you do Tuesday?

Speaker 4 (41:36):
Wednesday? Let's go Why you guys are here on Wednesday?

Speaker 12 (41:39):
Tuesday one thirty.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
Hey, I'm by Son. He's gonna be in town all week,
so I'm gonna.

Speaker 15 (41:44):
Be come in.

Speaker 4 (41:44):
He can hang out with us, he can pick take
partons wednes bring him on in.

Speaker 7 (41:47):
No, he's got no bring mine in. I'll be here Tuesday.
We're doing Tuesday. How about Tenna is not going to
be your Wednesday? You're leaving next week anyway, What do
you care next week?

Speaker 4 (41:58):
Week? The end of the weekend, I'm gonna care about us.
Then I'll call in for spread strings the following week.

Speaker 12 (42:04):
That's what I None of us are working that week,
so we'll have to figure that one out.

Speaker 4 (42:07):
Yeah, man, the loyally and the dedication than you guy,
the lack of it that you guys have, I'll just
you Doude. She got a big one tonight.

Speaker 9 (42:17):
Lakeville North and Lakeville South. It doesn't get much bigger
than the quintessential Dakota County showdown. It's gonna be a
lot of fun. And shout out to all the people
who said hi to me at Ames Arena. It must
be what Rosie feels like at the a Lexus court side.
Not a couple times will come up and say nice
job and say hello. So thanks to everyone. Yeah, it's
gonna be a great matchup on game time MN dot com.

Speaker 4 (42:38):
And that's the boys. And you did the girls Lakeville
South against North on Tuesday and nothing was decided.

Speaker 9 (42:46):
No, nothing. It ended in a draw. Yes, that can
happen in high school hockey. I learned it earlier this year.
So the girls match, really it settled nothing. No one
left that rink happy. Hopefully we'll see something settled this year.

Speaker 4 (42:58):
Well I think we will.

Speaker 6 (42:59):
I think we call it a border battle. If they're
within the same city, little still a border battle.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
I'll be watching the football game, but I'll be listening
to you call the game tonight so I'll see it,
and I please you have careful. The weather's not supposed
to be real good.

Speaker 9 (43:13):
Be careful, yes, Arden Hills, the lakeild is going to
be a track.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
Oh man, thank you guys for having things. Let's duce.
Let's take a short break out another hour ago, we
got plenty to grill. Mark rosen ab out here on
