Speaker 2 (13:47):
Probably don't like mimes either, right, I don't care? Stop incredible.
It's the Dark Star Memorial how where we have several today.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
We're always excited and delighted to pass them along, though
there is a bit of a you're a bit for
Klempt because it's for loved ones that have gone to
the Great Pyon, but it's always nice to honor them.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
This one says Hi Common.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
I never missed program Password on Friday, so I never
missed the Dark Star Memorial Hour either. For some reason,
I envisioned writing in someday about our dogs, Charlie and Ford,
but never thought I'd be sharing about my dad.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
We lost a good man.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Strike that a great man November twenty when my dad
Noel passed away on his eighty fifth birthday down in Northfield.
He was born in Dawson, out western Minnesota, a tennis
South Dakota State married his high school sweetheart lowest after
dating for seven years, and moved to Northfield, where he
and my mom lived for sixty years in the house
they built way back in nineteen sixty five.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
He was talented in so many ways.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
He designed and built with a couple thirteen fourteen good friends,
their cabin on Fox Lake near Northfield, and followed it
up with a kid's cabin once grandkids started coming to
the lake. He restored two boats, built sailboats with a buddy,
made a go car for my brother and I, and
was a gifted word worker making guitars, furniture for their
home in dozens of beautiful gifts for others. He was
(14:59):
the most generous, considerate man you could ever find. He
loved to go curb shopping for broken down lawn wars
that he fixed up and gave to people that couldn't
afford to buy one, twenty nine lawnmowers in total. He
once sold a car to someone to someone and the
engine gave out just a couple of weeks later. You
might think that he returned her money and took her
car back, but instead he let her keep the car,
(15:21):
gave her money back so the engine could be fixed.
He and my mom were so good together as well.
Just a few years ago, they were presented the Joseph
Lee Heywood Distinguished Service Award by the Defeat of Jesse
James Days Committee for Jesse Days Committee for the commitment
to public service in Northfield.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
He served on the Northfield School Board for forty two.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Years, who was the longest tenured school board member in
the state of Minnesota. His way of encouraging others to
not just complain about things, but to get involved and
be part of the solution. I was telling them, if
you want it, if you want to kick, you should
join the dance line.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
I'm gonna give him a shot for that. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
My dad didn't want anyone to have to deal with
planning his funeral service or writing his obituary, so he wrote.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Them both of himself.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Not only did he pick the hymns, choose the special
music and the musicians, and select the lessons, but he
even gave the pastor a head start on the homily.
In the file I found in his computer, he described
a funny, self deprecating series of events he had once
experience and left the note for the pastor, saying.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Pastor, use this one for your opener.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Noel loved his wife, his family, which now includes a
great grandson, his friends, his community, his church, and his Lord,
and say there's no doubt that he was given the
express elevator to heaven. I never heard him curse or swear,
and only once did he tell me an off color
joke which I recently said to our two boys and
son in law that it would share with them after
my mom. That would only share with them after my
mom also passed. But if Dark were to look him up,
(16:47):
slap him on the back and tell him yours is
a life well lived, my boy, he might get my
dad to whisper that off color joke to him as well.
Keep up to tom foolery, skullduggery, NonStop nonsense common and
thanks for the chance to reminisce a bit about my dad,
as you said in your book, which is propping up
a table leg right now. It's definitely a cathartic way
to relive some of my memories of him. Todd from Brookings,
(17:12):
South Dakota. This next Dark Star says, our dear Bella
has gone home to the Lord, carrying in strong. Bella
filled her twenty six years with purpose, adventure, and service.
She died tragically as a crew module leader for the
Idaho Department of Lands at a prescribed burn with her
beloved team.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Born January twenty fourth, ninety nine to.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Kelvin and Kathleen Oscarson, she graduated from Watertown High School
in twenty seventeen. After earning her associate degree, she joined
the Minnesota Conservation Corps worked as a crew leader. She
then worked for the Minnesota DNR as a fire resource lead.
She settled into Floodwood with the love of her life,
Matt Becker. Bella joined the local volunteer Ambulance Service, was
(17:54):
close to earning an Emergency Management and Homeland Security degree,
and fought fires in multiple s and Canada. Matt and
Bella moved to Stit's, Idaho in early twenty twenty five,
with Bella working for the Idaho Department of Lands. Bella's
DNR and IDL colleagues, including excellent mentors, meant the world
to her.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Bella loved outdoor.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Adventures, cooking, baking, crafting, guardening, and reading. She chairs family
and friend time, sharing her joy, quiet faith, playful humor,
and funky dance moves. She as wrote a children's book
about Firebug about firefighting called the firebug.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
May she rest in peace, This.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
One says ay Common this Saturday, March ten years as
my dad Alan passed away. He drove a semi for
fifty years, routinely driving back and forth between her hometown
of Cooperstown, North Dakota and Mason City, Iowa.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
He was a diehard Vikings and Twins fan.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
He liked to smoke now and then, never too often,
just enough to date the edge off after a long haul.
I miss him every day, But when I talk about him,
I don't just remember the miles, the games of the
smoke break.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
I remember his grit, his work, ethic, his.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Loud belly laughing, how he could make even the worst
losses feel like a story worth telling. If you could
honor him during the Darkstar memorial, I would appreciate it
more than a Twins win in July. And I like
to think that up in heaven, he and Darkstar or
parks side by side, cigars and hands, shaking their heads
over another Vikings loss and betting whether the Twins can
even get to double digit wins next year. Thanks me, boy,
(19:19):
signed Jeffrey in Georgetown, Texas. Then our final one reads
comment I'm writing you today to tell you about the
loss of our dog, Bubba. I say our dog because
my whole family loved him. He was a big black
lab who made friends and everyone he met with everyone
he met.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Although he looks intimidating, he was a big teddy bear.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
He loved running alongside my John Deere tractor, bird hunting,
and his favorite riding in the UTV. He was so
good with the little kids. No matter how hard his
ears got pulled or how bad his tale got stepped on,
Bubba was always forgiving. For ten years, we enjoyed his
company around campfires, where Bubba would go around the circle
and lead on anyone he felt could be persuaded into
petting him, so enjoin an occasional potato chip from marshmallow.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Bubba was a part of our family, and we'll be
sorely missed.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Tell Dark that if he is sitting down and feels
a heavy weight on his knee, it's just Bubba stealing
a pet and Dark will be rewarded with an aggressive
tail wag. Thank you, Common, You're the best, Signed Dave,
and those are your Dark Star memorials.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Today here on this Friday, well pause, we'll return. We
call it.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
The victory formation segment.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
We've got another winning week. We'll do that next when
we take a knee here on the Common Man program
in the Fan.
Speaker 1 (20:41):

Speaker 3 (21:00):
They can't get any more even steven any semifinal matchup.
The NCAA Soccer Regional Semifinal third ranked Wisconsin, second rank
Stanford tied at one one of the best of five.
In game three, tied at seventeen. The Wisconsin just scored,
I believe, and they're now eighteen seventeen. Like volleyball, tenna mee,
(21:22):
you know, yeah, I like it.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
I enjoyed. I think it's fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I was an intramural volleyball champion at the University of
Saint Thomas.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
I did not realize hell he bump set spike? Did
you bump set or spike or all.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
Over my job just because I have long, lanky arms
was just basically to block at That was basically the
only value I brought to the team.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Were you effective at it?
Speaker 6 (21:46):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Did you block shots at the net like Rudy Goldbert
block shots at the rim?
Speaker 1 (21:51):
I would said the two of us are very comparable.
I would do a little. The came Matumbo fingerwag.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
We have not.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Talked about this story, and it's taken a ugly twist.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Charon Moore, this is the headline. It is Sharon.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
I think that is how you pronounce it right, had
ex head coach of Michigan football. It's associated press story.
Charon Moore charged with stalking, home invasion after being fired
as Michigan football coach.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Dateline ann Arbor.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
Fired University of Michigan football coach Sharon Moore broke into
the apartment of a woman with whom he had been
having an affair and threatened to kill himself. She reported
the relationship to the school, and he lost his job.
That's according to prosecutors. They made the announcement earlier today.
Moore was charged with three crimes, including home invasion and stocking.
(22:49):
As he watched my video from jail, authorities laid out
extraordinary allegations against More provided details that answered a key
question what led Michigan has suddenly outsd the thirty nine
year old head coach Wednesday after a second and seeing
not the helm of the storied football program.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
According to.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
The Washington County First Assistant Prosecutor Katie Resmirski, more In,
the woman had been having an affair for a number
of years before she ended the relationship. More repeatedly called
the woman and texted her, but she refused to respond.
The prosecutor went on to say, eventually, she presented herself
(23:29):
to the University of Michigan cooperated in some format of
an investigation. As we all know, More was fired from
his employment. And I think he's married with three daughters.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
I think so.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Just an awful situation all the way around. But that's
what led him. He had an inappropriate relationship and then
apparently and then was announcing he was arrested and it's
because of stalking in home invasion. So there you go.
On that note, tieddby. This was announced yesterday, but I
think we were off the air before. I don't think
we talked about it ceedee lamb. It's passed concussion protocol
(24:02):
and it looks like he will play, which obviously benefit
benefits Dallas mightily. You know, we talked about how, uh,
what's what's the second.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Wide receiver's name again?
Speaker 3 (24:14):
George Pickens Pickens Pickens in, and Ceedee Lamber presented a
great one to combo. Pickens won once Ceedee Lamb went out.
He wasn't as effective in their last game against Detroit,
but that's a.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Good one to punch there.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
And DA's having a hell of a year, so that
presents problems, uh more so than if if if Lamb
had stayed in the concussion protocol. There was also a
quote from him and the story about something he's not
concerned about, you know, his health concerns that you know,
I'm gonna get hit again. I'm gonna get another one.
I think he's he's he's he understands the risks and
is going to go ahead and play. You know, we
(24:46):
talked a lot about the game ten and I guess
we haven't really talked a lot about it because it's
we're with the situation that the Vikings are in where
you know, I mean like they would have to win
every game and every other team would have to lose
every game that's ahead of them in order for the
Vikings to make the playoffs. So they're for all intents
and purposes out of it. So it's breaking down games.
(25:07):
Let's just say they're virtually eliminited, virtually elimited and breaking
down games at this point meaning basically meaningless as far
as you know, making a pope and get qualify of
the postseason isn't quite as enjoyable.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
But I think we're more.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
About the process and the progression of your quarterback and
offense at this stage that is correct.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
And and then then there there come the you know,
the off season decisions that will have to be made
as far as the way they can figure the roster,
which obviously salary cap ramifications play into that. And then
(25:48):
you know, depending upon what the record ends up being,
where will they be as far.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
In the draft do.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
They have, they're going to get a couple of compensatory picks.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Right, it looks like for losing the two quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Donald and Daniel Jones, and Daniel Jones like a third
and a fourth or you know, it's like between two
and three or between three and four, between four and five,
whatever that is.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
And I think, did I read this?
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Do they have with those compensatory They'll have three seventh
round picks two which aren't real meaningful, but well they
have eight ors at ten draft picks going into next season.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
I think I can't tell you about the compensatory, but
they have a first, a second, a third, a fifth,
a sixth, and then three sevenths. I think they lost
their fourth. They lose the fourth in that Adam Feelin trade.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
I think that might be correct.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
And then it says the Vikings anticipate receiving compensatory picks
based on freegency departures during the twenty twenty five preencine,
particularly for quarterback Sam Darnald and Daniel Jones. Those compensatory
picks are awarded between the Super Bowl and the draft.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
There's this paragraph I saved from. I think it was
either athletic or fish rap. One of the fish raps
from earlier this year, first part of the month, first
weekend in December.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Talk about the Bikings. It says.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
They already have three hundred and forty six million in
cap commitments and two hundred and fifty million in cash
allocated to the twenty twenty six roster. Give me an err,
would you when they're likely need to create cap space
by releasing or restructuring the contracts of several players.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
In their late twenties or early thirties.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
They could have nine or ten draft picks next year,
including four in the top one hundred, but lack of
quantity and quality from the recent draft classes up but
a lack of quantity and quality from the recent draft
classes forced them to try and build a contender with
veterans who carry higher costs in those bodies of born
more physical stress than young players. Young players would And
that is the truth of the matter, I mean, obviously,
(27:58):
and it's sad as a Viking fan, but green Bay
has gone about it the right way lately. I mean,
they are a first place team. They are a playoff
team for sure. I don't see how they can miss
unless they lost lost out. But they're gonna make the playoffs,
probably win the division depending on what happens in the
next few weeks. And that they have Denver. You know,
(28:18):
they got one more game of Chicago. That one will
be at Curly, I believe, or no is that is
it a soldier? The other one was at Curly I
think yes, it was at Curly, so that's soldier. But
you know, I and again I could dig up the paragraph,
it would take me a while. Then we'd have to
play the intermission music. But I I I remember reading
(28:43):
that Green Bay. It was talking about part of me
was just talking about how successful the draft classes have
been for all the other teams in the NFC North.
You know, green Bay is like they have eighteen players
that were drafted between when when Cuasy and O'Connell first
came on board since then to now and like twelve
(29:05):
of our starters. Detroit a little less than that, in
Chicago a little less than that, but all where the
Vikings have like two.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Starters from that draft class and.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Only a small hand maybe six seven players that have
been drafted at all, I think, if even that much.
So and talking about, you know, having to load up
on free agents that are expensive and that are older
and for the.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Most part, they're damage goods tend to be. They just are.
They've been beat up, they've had injuries over their career.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
The best way to have a team is when it's
still young and then you got that rookie quarterback under
his or that that young quarterback under his under his
first year contract. That's that's the best way to build
a team, and it's it's difficult to do, but it
can be done. But that's that's the situation the Vikings
find themselves in, is they're going to have to restructure
(29:58):
a lot of these veteran guys just going to be gone, right,
and I think uh hit Man will retire probably right
they want to even have to release him. He's just
gonna say, I that's that's enough for me. He'll retire,
you know, I don't have a roster in front of me.
But there'll be other guys that they're just not gonna
They're gonna say, can't do it, you know, or or
(30:19):
guess what, if you want to play with the team
this year, you're gonna have to take a major cut,
maybe including the four guys that they signed last offseason,
the free age, the two interior defensive lineman in the
two year interior offensive lineman.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
So I'm guessing because of the age of a bunch
of players, we could see a lot of movement on
this roster of guys getting cut. It's because they've put
a lot, They've invested a lot of money in older
players that well they may be Okay, aren't contributing unlikely
to make a resurgence next year?
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Correct? So that's one of these days we got to
hit on some draft picks.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Yeah, and I'm still curious to whether and then we'll
have all off season talk about this. But I'm still
curious that they're going to allow Quazy to make those
picks next year.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
He did sign his extensiony, he wasn't given one finally, right,
Not that they can't say, not that they can say, sorry,
we've changed our mind, but both you know O'Connell are signed.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
I think you heard the same thing I did. I
have no proof of.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
This is just heard from a guy who knows a
guy that part of O'Connell was he wanted a little
bit more say in personnel decisions.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
So you know, because you and I've talked about that.
I'm never surey. I texted liber last week and I said,
because the debate is Quasies getting the blame is being
heaped upon him more so than anybody else in that
organization for the unsuccessful drafts in his tenure.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
And he is the guy that he's the guy that
makes those selections.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
But what I asked, liber was what you and I
have talked about, But you're still I can't believe there's
any general manager who isn't consulting with the head coach,
the defensive quarter office and the coach.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Who do you like?
Speaker 3 (32:09):
I mean, he still does make the final pick. What
like what Lieber says. But I got to think, and
Liebert did say this, he thinks that for certain McCarthy decision,
there was a lot of input from from koc because
you know, that's what he is. He's quarterback, whisper guy.
It's the offense and you want to run, You're gonna
have quite a bit of say of that, right. That's
why part of the reason why they decided to draft
(32:32):
someone and not resign Darnald and not go with Danny Dimes.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Is because Darnold was gonna cost him a lot of money.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
I mean, not as much as you know, one of
the top quarterbacks in the league, but he was going
to be paid thirty million dollars a year, right, a
little bit more than that, thirty three million dollars a year,
and they thought that money could be better spent. I
can get we can get the rookie quarterback, and I
can get plenty out of him. That and then Danny
Dimes kind of I think the writing was on the wall.
He knew McCarthy he's the guy I'm playing as a backup.
(33:02):
I don't want to do that. I want to play,
And they didn't want to have petitions.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Yeah, well, maybe looking at it back now, maybe the
competition wasn't easier, I mean net Place, But yeah, that
was the thought process at the time.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
And then you know, whether there was any serious consideration
of Rogers or not, I don't know, like you speculated,
it's possible that maybe O'Connell did want to.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Go with with Rogers.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
I think that's the thing is like, just because decisions
are made, doesn't mean like everyone in the front office
and coachy staff is a ligne down that decision, right,
And that's where you can kind of get some issues
and pushback from register to your point, Quazy's probably not
making all these not like all the entire draft selections
are all his input. He has scouts that he's depending on,
(33:44):
He's got coaches. I think even in free agency, I
think a lot of the guys they're getting on defense
are B flow guys that B Flow is hand picked
and selected. So it's uh, but you know it's not always. Hey,
all eight guys that are kind of in the asion
making process, all we're aligned and agreed in the same thing.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
This one says, yeah, that sounds good.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Look at the Packers, Jordan loves one of the top
paid quarterbacks and they haven't done nothing yet. Well, yeah,
I see that's nothing. No, I wouldn't say that. And
you know what, that's most teams last I checked in
and being you can use this next time. The ten
of Fitzgerald's sale, only one team wins the Big Game
every year. And so I would throw this back at
Kyle from Mysante, who do you think right now is
(34:30):
in better shape? Right now and for the next couple
of years, at least as we speak right now Green
Bay or Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
It's not even closed. The Packers have a quarterback there.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
No matter what you would think about Love, He's a
top ten for sure, might even be better than that.
He's putting up numbers that are they're young, they're good defensively, offensively,
we got salary cap issues aging players. A quarterback, we're
still not sure he's got training wheels on.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
And do I think yeah, I still think I've seen enough.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Who's our young built thing block to build her own.
We're hoping it's McCarthy, but we don't know that that's it.
We don't know, and you know what I mean, technically
it could be.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
I mean, if you want to call Justin Jefferson young,
he's now probably in prime range. He's not young. And
the other one would be very similar to Justin be
Christian darrisaw which after this year, I still think he's
got a chance to be good and be very helpful
and I want him on the team, but he's he's
not as dependable. You can't count on him moving forward.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Who was the guy that played left left tack of
San Francisco for all those years that we loved that
we were get?
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Why did I just think it was Johnson Allen? That's
our own guys.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
It's a similar need to whoever it was he Daris
how I ain't that no.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
So, but he's a good quality player. But if he's
not on the field.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Well, and and here's what I'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
When it comes to McCarthy, my gut from watching tells
me I don't think he's going to be an elite quarterback.
That's what my gut tells me. But but we've also
seen a couple flashes of him. I mean, he's been
very successful, so he could very well end up being
a quality not just a quality quarterback, but one of
(36:15):
the better quarterbacks in league. Sure it's possible. My gut
tells me no. But sometimes I have an upset stomach.
So there's, you know, going on my gut is I
would certainly hope nobody in biking organization goes with my
gut feel. But I think a lot of people, when
you evaluate fans or even I even think people that
(36:37):
make these decisions for a living, sometimes have a gut
feel on somebody. Right, Sure, you know that's what you do.
You've got kind of go on a gut feel. I
hope I'm wrong. I hope my gut is just upset
that that's what it has up being. I just needed
some pepto bismo because I love it for the kid
to be great. He's got a great attitude. The alter
ego thing kind of makes your roll your eyes, shrug
your shoulder and shake your heads after how he's performed.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
But I like the bit. I think it's cool. He's
got confidence.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
You should have waited yeah, you should. He didn't do
himself any favors by after like one good performance calling
himself nine and yeah, it'll just be a little more
established in the league before you you are correct revealed
that that's what you call your alter ego.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
But at least he has the confidence and saying he
might end up being a really good quarterback. And you know, yeah,
Connell probably is better than a lot of other guys
that coaching up quarterbacks quarterback whisper thing. I kind of
rolled my eye, shrugged my shoulders and shake my head.
But he's he's probably is better than a lot of guys.
So there's still hope. But well, when you look at
the money they've got invested, and yeah, it's it's it's
(37:36):
not you know, And then you look at the other things.
The Bears seem to be up and coming right.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
Well, sure they have a young franchise quarterback and the
offensive head coach that's very highly thought of. They haven't
gotten Also, oh they're all their offensive skill players are
are young.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Detroit Now, on the other hand, I don't know where
they're kind of at that precipice. I think, you know,
they had the two terrific years the first year they
went to the end of Two years ago, they went
to the NFC Championship game, blew a twenty four to
seven lead, lost to sanfran Last year they had even
a better regular season. They went fifteen in two but
got dumped by Washington in the in the first round
(38:18):
of the playoffs. This year, Mark Craig put this in
his is he does a prediction thing every week and
they always has. He makes the prediction with a score
and then he puts a little you know, you know,
whitty one liner or just you know, one line of thing,
and one of them it said the Lions, like this
is how they've gone all year. Win loss, win loss,
(38:40):
win loss, win loss. You know, they keep talking about
the Lions haven't had a lost back to back games
since you know, like you know, November of twenty twenty
two or something like that. So they won last week.
So he's predicting a loss win loss win loss, But
they they they the rag now.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Retirement can't be? Can't be? Is it? Am I looking
for overstated or understated?
Speaker 3 (39:10):
I mean, yep, your center is so important and they've
been working together for years. The guy that makes the
other calls and stuff against the line all set up
and everything, and he's out, Zeitler's out, and then they
just I think they do miss the play caller more
than I thought they would.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
I thought that was overrated, but they're just not as well.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Yeah, E've been looking forward like Detroit should be a
quality team here for the next couple of years, right,
that they should be a playoff type team. What happened
was is they had a window where they had a
lot of high draft picks. They hit on those draft picks,
and now those guys are having to get paid. Yeah,
so they performed, they got paid, and now you're in
a spot where you can't really supplement the roster like
(39:48):
he once did. You're not gonna be drafting as highly
as you once did. And your quarterback, while being a
good quality quarterback, still I don't know if he's one
of those quarterbacks that can elevate everyone and around him. Right,
he still needs to have a lot going on and
without with the aging offensive line at some of the positions,
(40:08):
you don't really have that. So they should still be
good and they're going to be competitive, but they might
have They might have missed that that big game window.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
Yeah, I think they did well, they they There was
a quote on a news conference one of Campbell's where
they they gave the most recent.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Contract they gave was it was did they finally give
Hutch the contract? I think he was the latest one.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
Any basically said oh yeah, we're just going to keep
spending mone until we don't have any left. And they're
at the point where Dane got any left. So yeah,
we call that the anti pole at Yeah, that is.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
That is exactly it. Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
Hey, great job you too, and you and I would
be on a cool Christmas cool and wait.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
Tomorrow one.
Speaker 7 (40:52):
Maggie.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
If you listening to that, it's a cool Christmas cool
one waiter uh sister station.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
That'll do it for us. We enjoyed it.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
But with you to enjoy your weekend. Stick around big
ticket JG there and that's right here on the fan.
