medical staffs that he could go that.

Not see him on the field, right, No, I never
saw him kind of talking to officials. I think just
by the way he answered, he knew if he could
do it all over again, he never would have played him.

He would have pulled him on. He wouldn't even have
started it much less less.

Well, yeah, that's that might be a little bit of
a quantum leap. But you're right. You might be right.
He may not have started him, but they were aware
of what his condition was since the London game that
he had that turned labroom.

Right, I still just totally disagree with By the end
of the game, when the Chargers are up with three touchdowns, uh,

have to do. But at the same time, I think
it would have been very safe to put Max Brozemer

safe passes and not you know, do anything reckless. And
with a battered and bruised offensive line, he still could
have gotten some playing time and more importantly, just get
Carson Wentz you know, off the ropes. And we talked
about it using the boxing analogy. We both watched a
lot of boxing matches where the cornerman throws the white
towel in. I mean it's like someone needed to throw
the towel in on Carson and for his own protection.

I mean, I know this thing, it could have been worse. Well,
I don't, I don't know. I don't know how what
to believe. I just think that the didn't pass the
eye test and just out of out of sheer, you know, mercy,
take them out of the game and let Max get
a couple of stamps, hand the ball off, do whatever.
They're not going to come back. And again, kaos men,

it sound like, well, you know, our perception meeting the fans, media, whatever,
of being out of the game isn't the same our perception.
And my answer to that is and I didn't I
wasn't able to listen to the entire news conference. But
you know, as you say, there was about thirteen fourteen
questions about Winston JJ McCarthy. I still have been. I
don't know, I've been. I've had a bug up my

you know what about this defense. And again when the
Vikings did score a touchdown against the Chargers, and it's
not the only game this has happened twenty four to ten.
Now it's time for the defense to step up. And
they allowed the Chargers to go right down the field
and give it. Give credit to LA, but the Vikings
have not been able to make a stop like that.
I don't know what Hargrave and Allen have been doing.

I don't know what Dallas Turner has been doing that.
The inability to get turnovers, I mean they had it
looked like they had one at the beginning of the game.
And then of course there was rule that the ball
hit the ground on Rogers that I'm not saying the
Vikings would have won the game, but that certainly does
change the momentum and the change the mindset as we've seen,
but that is those moments have been so few and

far between for the Vikings to put mean this, it's
going to be JJ McCarthy against a a better Lions
team on the favorite arguably to go to the Super
Bowl this year. You know, you need to get some
breaks defensively. Your defense has to step up. It's not
just on go out score Jared Goffin and Gibbs and
Mars Brown, Saint Brown and Montgomery and and that great

offensive line go get them. No stop, You've got to
make a stop. And that that goes back to the
Atlanta game. That goes back. You know there's been so
many cases, uh, the Eagles, the Vikings are able to
stop the run against the Eagles with Saquon, But we
saw what happened bombs away, Jalen Hurts hit a couple
of deep throats. That's that's been my I don't know.

I still don't know what the answers are. I don't
know how disappointed they are in those guys, in particularly
the money they invested in hard graven And and Allen
and and what Dallas Turner hasn't been doing. And it's
not just the fact that Van Ginkle has been out.
Ben Giegle's a terrific player, He's an explosive player, but
he's not the reason the Vikings are getting marched up
and down the field on So yeah, I mean, the

McCarthy story, it'll play itself out, however, it's going to
play itself out. But if he doesn't get some help,
this team doesn't give him some help on defense, it's
not gonna matter. It's just not He's not going to Also,
are you calling for Beflow's head. I don't think b

pending lawsuit against the NFL about collusion with other teams,
et cetera, et cetera, not helping himself a lot this
year with the defensive performance of that team. But I
just think because of the fact he's I don't know
if he's the only coach on not under contract for
next year. It's not to suggest that they can't come

to terms. And they still absolutely can and maybe they will.
I just asked you ask me a question. I'm giving
my answer, my opinions.

It's it's always interesting to me how things can change
so quickly. Last year, yeah, Vikes were one victory away
from having the number one seed correct throughout the NFC playoffs,
laid an egg against Detroit Donald wasn't any good.

They had the fifth seed. They get beat by the Rams.

Nevertheless, the head coach received the recognition as the Coach
of the Year. They had Donald decided they didn't want
to go in that direction, decided they wanted to use
the homegrown kid. But they rebuilt the interior of the
offensive defensive line, so it seemed like brought a lot

of people back from a fourteen and three team. You
would hope that the that the changes the players they
added in free agency would help this club in that
this young kid would JJ McCarthy would have the kind
of success or at least close to, you know, being
that same ballpark is is it Jade Daniels or how

a Drake may is playing now and be able.

How things can change so rapidly because he's had two
pretty mediocre performances. Other than the one quarter, offensive line
is in shambles, the schedule is getting tougher and tougher,
the defense, as you mentioned, is not playing like it
has before.

This has all change just in a short period of
hal and it happens in the NFL every single year.
And if you look at I don't know if you
saw Mark Craig's article today he wrote about the the Colts,
and I talked about it earlier, about the offensive line.

Because they because the the the offensive line when when
you know it's it's you may you may have heard
me say I say this often where there's a reason
cliches are cliches because generally they're true. And the one
is is that you win games with your offensive and
defensive lines. And the Colts lost to players to us,
yet they had no problems in there. You know, you
alluded to his piece and I don't have the numbers,

maybe you have the article right in front of you,
but just how many how many games the offensive line
has played together.

It's amazing.

They haven't missed, you know, they've they've played two or
three of the guys have played every single snap so
far this season. You compare to that to what the
Vikings have then and other teams, I'm sure it's it's
it's night and day.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Well in the center, which was a key position, you know,
for the Vikings to acquire Ryan Kelly, who did have
concussions with the Colts, and now of course looks like
he probably I don't know if he's out for the
year or not, but they they have their replacement guy,
it doesn't matter. His name is Tanner Bordolini. I think
he started all eight games, playing four hundred and eighty snaps,

which is ninety six percent of the snaps they have.
They went down the line from the left tackle basically
playing in all the snaps the guy there can'ton bound
left guard, playing ninety four percent of the snaps. Their
right guards played ninety nine percent of the STAPs the
right tackle. I mean, this is a consistent, terrific offensive

line that Daniel Jones is benefiting from, and Daniel Jones
is having a terrific season in traste with what the
Vikings have now with the injuries they've had the fact
that Kelly has not been able to play stay on
the field, and it's sad and it's unfortunate that it
potentially could be career threatening because of concussion issues that

cropped up again. And I don't know. The Vikings obviously
had to do their due diligence medically before they before
they signed him. But here we are, here we are
if we yeah so, But that's that's excuse the defense,
and that's the thing that I'm just still I just.

Well, they only gave up twenty one points against Eagles.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
I know that, but it's been one thing after another
with this team. They Eagles didn't need to score it,
you know, and the Vikings had chances the way as
we know, you're done with this club, Well I'm not.
They're not gonna win the division and they still have
a shot at you know, yeah, of course they have
a shot at making the postseason. Well they do because
of the the the maritatically, I guess no, I mean,

you know, teams that lose it. Look at the NTEK.

halfway point, and I think the Steelers, as much as
they had a nice encouraging start of the season, I

that's no more than that. You know, that's probably as
far as that's going.

Again, the Colts would be refreshing. I mean, I think
it's been a long time, but you know, we've talked
about how they they managed to all the right pieces
and put them together. Right now, I don't know. I
don't have their schedule right in front of me and
who they've played, because they were not a great team
last year. They haven't exactly played all the heavyweights in
the NFL. And I think they got a game this

week they played. Hang on one second, I'll tell you
because we're doing spread screen nor well, they play at
Pittsburgh this week, relatively tough game. There's slight slight favorites
in that game. I thought they had a tougher game.
In the NFC, yep, it's Packers.

They have the They would be the number one seed
right now at five one and one, followed by Eagles, Bucks, Seahawks, Lyons,
Rams and four nine Ers now loaded.

Eagles and Buccaneers are ahead of.

The the Seahawks and the Lions and the Rams by
virtue they've played an extra game. They are both six
and two, while the Seahawks, Lions, and Rams are both
at are All three of those teams are at five

my best guess is the Lions win this weekend, but
who knows, we'll see. That's why they play the game.

So but once again, I think a lot of these
teams you kind of expected to be here of that top.
I did think Minnesota would be in this mix. I
thought they would be at this time of the especially
when we looked at their schedule. How it was probably
the softest schedule. It as terribly pointed out, and then

easiest schedule to start the season. Now they have the toughest.

So it's going to be well, as Kose pointed out today,
and that you got to play when you play them,
you know, your your record within your division is paramount.
If you're going to try to get into that dance
and the party, you have to win your division games.
And this is only the second game the Vikings have
had in their division. We know they opened up, you know,
I mean for crying all out ja J McCarthy and
I still, honestly, honestly don't understand how he was named

NFC Offensive Player of the Week by playing one good
quarter of football the fourth quarter against the Bears. But
still so be it. But the Vikings are one and
zero against divisional opponents so far, and that's where you
have to the Vikings have any glimmer of hope of
making some noise in December and getting into the conversation,
you have to beat your divisional opponents, and I don't

think anywere well what.

I know, if the coach pointed out, that's where one
at all can argue with the record.

stake right now. I think that's where you saw what
you know that hardball is going to get that team

him quite a boost offensively, and they still have plenty
of talent around him. But I don't know.

and go, Man, we had aspirations of picking up or

to forget. They literally were playing for the number one
seed in the NFC last year. That's how quickly things
can turn around and and will turn around again. I
mean the teams that are scrambling right now to make

got to get more aggressive. I saw much more aggressive

Finch has talked about, I mean, defensive they were, they
were kind of non existent.
