Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Rock Rank, Rock Rank, Rock Rank, Rock Rank. A couple
thirteen fourteen past, I'm calm and he's tend to.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Be legendary Mark Rose and will join us just before
two o'clock. But right now it's time for five three.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Four time now four.
Speaker 5 (00:55):
Five questions? Well, actually three, but five sounds like more
than four. Question Number one over or under?
Speaker 1 (01:09):
The win totals for the Minnesota Wild this season in
terms of points is ninety six and a half points
common Would you take the e.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Over or under?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
I know there are many people out there that are
still astonished. I host a sports talk show because I
don't I know very little about sports, and I don't
care that much about sports.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
I don't know if ninety six is a good number
or a bad am.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
I know we get two points for a win and
nothing for an overtime loss, or one and a half
for an overtime loss, and nine points if you hold
it if you get out to a two goal lead
and then shut out the other team. So I don't
know if ninety six is considered good or bad.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
What is it considered?
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I would say ninety six and a half is traditionally
a bottom playoff team, Okay, Right, You're gonna have probably
maybe four or five teams, five teams, maybe six at
the top one hundred points. Sometimes your lowest playoff team
is in the low nineties. So yeah, it's kind of
(02:12):
a bubbleish playoff team, but maybe on the good side
of the bubble. So when you're looking at top eight
teams in the West, yeah, probably like a seven eight seed,
seven seed.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
How long is zekes out?
Speaker 1 (02:26):
He's out for a while, Probably a month, month and
a half, two months sounds like today Nico Sturm, who
was our prize possession and free agency has our fourth
line center that that one's gonna.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Be a lot longer than they had originally kind of told.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Us, I don't know that ninety six sounds about right
then to me, I don't know what he is.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
A lot of it is so dependent on health, right right.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
I mean last year when Caroll capriceof was healthy, they
were second in the West. When Capriceoff wasn't healthy, they
almost missed the playoffs. So the health of ninety seven
is first and foremost. And I don't know how you
can predict that. Yeah, but I think ninety six and
a half is probably a good number. Yeah, I would say,
And you know that's why it's Las Vegas. They're pretty
(03:13):
smart when it comes to this. Yes, I guess I'll
take the over, just you.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Know, I mean, I'll come in. I'm so negative regarding
the hometown teams. I just call it objective, but people
call it negative. I thought i'd do a little ducky
and money there for you.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
I'll take the over.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Question number two, over or under.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
According to ESPN, the Timberwolves are projected to win forty
three point seven games through there, though they're over under.
Tootal is forty nine and a half, so Vegas has
them at forty nine and a half. ESPN's projecting them
to only win forty three point seven, and they are
also projecting them to be the number eight seed in
the West. We'll stick with the over undertotal, thyough common
(03:57):
forty nine and a half wins for the Wolves. Would
you say the over or under?
Speaker 4 (04:06):
I'm gonna be negative with the Wolves and make the
basketball community so ESPN. Yeah, you know what, I think
it's well, you know I like this. Well, uh oh,
I'll rip Rosen after this because you're not done with it.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
You're gonna do now the number of wins or just
that is?
Speaker 1 (04:21):
That is just well? I have more questions. But are
you going to expand on the question or you just
want it? You want to move on? We can move on.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Question number three Panic.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
I thought you were going to expand on.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
I thought you were going to expand No, because you
said I told no, I took the under, and then
you said the win total.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
I thought you were going to ask.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Next, Oh no, oh that's the total I gave you?
Is the forty nine and a half. We take the
over the under you said under? Oh okay, yeah that was thought.
Maybe you'll give an explanations why you think they're gonna
take on.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Just to get Rosen going and get the basketball community.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Okay, sorry? Question number three panic or patient?
Speaker 1 (05:17):
All right, let's talk about some struggling NFL teams. Common
The Baltimore Ravens are one and four. If you're in Baltimore.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Is it.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Panic or patients?
Speaker 4 (05:32):
I would say panic because their last loss this.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Past week was to Houston, which they had a problem.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Yeah, and and and and it was it was very
one sided, right, It wasn't like yeah, so I think.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
That sounds like Lamar might miss this game too. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
And you see, this is where.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
And I always get pushed back from people when I talk,
especially when I talk about the NBA, about guys you know,
taking quarters off for games off and coming out flat
and not trying, and then they I always get criticized
for that. All I can look at here is Baltimore
was picked by many to be a Super Bowl contender,
and then they lose to Buffalo, they lose to Detroit,
(06:15):
and how they lose again, and to lose to Houston
by in a laugher. I just think players just like, well,
that's it, our season's over, it's we're done, and they
just that's I don't.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Know what else am I supposed to think?
Speaker 2 (06:30):
How do you?
Speaker 4 (06:31):
How do you lose that game to Houston? Had they
won a game going into.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
That game, I think they had won one, but yeah,
they they had been struggling as well. Yeah, I think
I panic, and they're at home in that game too.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
They weren't competitive. I panic, all.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Right, how about the Kansas City Chiefs. They're two and three?
In case he is a time for.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Panic or patience, Well, well, you know, they've got some.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
What's the word I'm looking for.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
They got capital built, equity equity, that's what they got,
some equity built. I wouldn't panic d I mean that's
you know, Jacksonville is obviously better than I thought they were.
They would go three and one going into that game
on Sunday night, I just thought, well, yeah, but Jacksonville
really hasn't been.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Particularly good the last few years.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
I think their quarterback, who was the number one pick overall,
didn't you have one really good year, like a second year,
and then after that he's been just.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Kind of passed. He was great the other night.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Yeah, and he was really good the other night, and
Kansas City jumped out to a fourteen nothing lead, and
I thought, that's why I turned it off. And but
I they built up enough equity that I wouldn't I
wouldn't write them.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
They've also played a very difficult schedule.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
I don't know if they're going to win the big
game or go to the big game like you like
you predicted but I would not panic.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
They're going to be getting Rashie Race back here in
a week or so.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
I would, I would, I would, I would. I would
be patient with them.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
All right.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Last one, the Cincinnati Bengals are two and three. They
just traded for Joe Flacco, who is apparently is already
going to start this week and against the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
And since he is a time for.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
Panic or patient, I think it might be time to
sell the franchise and moving to a different city.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
That's how bad it is.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
That's a team where you know they were in the
big game. Is that three or four years ago they lost?
And they had that game one if you remember, didn't
didn't a Bungles guy drop a right in his hands
and he dropped it and then Maddie Stafford completed the drive.
After that, I thought I'd expected big things from that
team because Burrow was so good and you got you
(08:46):
got is it Jamar Mark Chase and you got T Higgins,
And I thought that team was going to be last
two seasons they got off the slow starts. I think
they rallied late last year, but and now this year
with Burrow gone, I think it's panic time.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
In Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
He's out for a while too.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah, I think it's panic.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
And that's it for today's edition of five questions, Well,
actually three questions, but five sounds like more than four.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
How about the Browns just trading Placco to a division?
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Right?
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Yeah, well the Browns aren't how much going for me?
That's that whole division is a mess? Right? The Steelers
are probably win by de Yeah, just by by default.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Let's say, if lamar.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Get's healthy, I would not give up on the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Let's take a break, we'll come back.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
I found that nugget I was looking for from his story,
wasn't Mark Craig Peace. We'll talk about that next. We'll

Speaker 2 (10:40):
It is funny.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
He should be on the flops written Tears Tour. Also,
he'd actually probably bring in more of an audience.
Speaker 2 (10:46):

Speaker 3 (11:07):
She needed a story today five for fighting. That was
the name of the band.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
I believe it was.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Yes, she has Wild's rising young stars at battling to
make their marks in the NHL ZE. How you say, David,
you're a sex, You're a sec. Let's see if I
can mispronounce all the names. Liam Ogrin, Yes for Walstead Valstead.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Actually it sounds like a uh Billie Vanilla. No Danilla,
You're off? Correct.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
First round picks. We are getting their chances this season
tennabe puck rank, puck rank, puck rank. How do you
like these prospects, do you?
Speaker 2 (11:47):
I mean? I mean they're.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Their first round pick, so they were highly regarded. What
do you know much about and should we be excited?
And you know, because we did the number of points
under and if all these guys had up being really good,
I think I'll take that over for sure. What do
you make of these guys?
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Can I give you a bad answer for radio and
say it's hard to know because if prospects are prospects
and you never know how they're going to do in
the NFL, and then even if they are good in
the NHL, you don't know how long it's going to
take them become good in the NHL. Right, jul riks
and Neck is the perfect example of first round pick
(12:27):
who played a couple of seasons and everyone was ready
to ship him out and calling him a huge bust,
and then all of a sudden his game took off.
And these kids are coming in in the National Hockey
League now at the age of Billiam's case, nineteen years old,
nineteen twenty twenty one, they don't even have their grown
man muscles yet and we're expecting like immediate production and
sometimes most times it takes till you get twenty three,
(12:51):
twenty four or twenty five. So out of the group,
I would Expectam would be the one that makes the
biggest impact this season, just because of he has a high,
high ceiling, high skill set. He's produced at every level
before the National Hockey League. He is expected at such
(13:16):
a young age. It sounds like he's running the power play,
the first power play unit at the top of the
point immediately, So I would expect he's going to contribute
at least offensively in the back. And my fear with
him is sometimes a smaller defenseman, it takes him a
little bit longer to figure out the defensive aspect of
the game and playing in front of your own net
(13:37):
and playing in the corners against bigger guys.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
So there's the concern there. Your check. We said a
little bit last year.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
I'm getting a little worried about him, given how much
the Wild gave up for him in a trade, and
he's still just kind of inconsistent, and he might be
one of those guys that was a high first round pick.
I think it was a top five pick, expecting to
be a great offensive defenseman, and then he thinks, that's
(14:03):
how I have to play in the NHL, where it
might be You're a big guy, who can you know
you've got a long reach. You got to start figuring
out the defensive aspect of the game a little bit more,
and that might mean you're not the high end, power
play offensive defenseman we once people once thought you would be.
But you have there's other ways you can contribute the
National Hockey League. I think he's in mentally. He's gonna
have to figure out how to transition his game a
(14:25):
little bit to stay in the NHL. The forwards Eurov's
basically a complete mystery because he was in Russia and
we don't get to see a whole lot of them. Sure,
but he put up big numbers not last year, but
the previous seasons for his age against grown men in Russia,
against the second best league in Russia. I would have
a feeling he's got the highest potential of the forwards,
(14:48):
but hard to believe he's just going to transition that game.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
You know, the NHL game is.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Much different than the American game, is much different than
the way they play in Russia, so he's gonna have
to fit and you know, he's moving to a new
country and new language and all that stuff, right getting acclimented.
So I think that's going to be an adjustment for him.
And it sounds like he might not play tomorrow night,
even those on the roster. Ogre and I just look
at as. I don't know if he can get up
his high end, but he's apparently put on a bunch
(15:14):
of muscle and maybe he's just like a quality solid
middle six forward for you. I don't know if he's
got first line high end potential, like maybe you're off
does eventually. And then and then Val said yeah, Val said,
at one point was the most highly regarded prospect goalie
in all the land.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
He had a bad year last year. I still think
there's enough.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
In him that he could end up being a really,
really really good goal He might end up being the
best of all these prospects, at least he was projected.
Ken Him and Boo Yam are kind of should be
the two that we're looking down, you know, four years
down the road, as these are two main mainstays in
our lineup.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
You know, you.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
It's it's it's funny how people going back to five
three four.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
By the way, Hunter Hates also another guy that wasn't
in that story that they just called up. He sounds
like he's going to play tomorrow night as their fourth
line center, so he had I remember talking with Judd Brackett,
the director of scouting for them, a couple years ago
when they drafted him and he was I think he
was a second round pick.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
He said, Hey, this one's going to be good.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
And now I think he's surprised, opened a lot of
eyes in training camp and like earned a spot on
the opening your eye. So it looks like he's gonna
start over. You're off tomorrow night, and that could still change.
They might change that decision, but judging off the line
rushes today, So he's another young guy that could emerge.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Is the guy that used to be really good for
the Red Wings? Tara Shank. Is that I say his
name Tara Shank?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Well, he wasn't really good for the Red Wings, but
well he played for the Red Wings, but he wasn't
really good for him? Who was he really good for?
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Saint Louis Blues?
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Tara Tarasenko Tarasenka Vladimir how many how many preseason games
we played so far?
Speaker 3 (17:03):
As he has he done anything? Is he played? Is
he any good?
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Is he?
Speaker 1 (17:06):
I don't know how many of the preseason against he played.
I did not I did not see a lot of
the preseason I know early on in camp he was
tearing up camp. I think he scored two or three
goals in his first training camp scrimmage. Okay, it sounds
like he didn't do a whole lot in preseason games,
but that's also sometimes veteran players and preseason aren't ain't
given it.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
They're all like you, you're just trying to warm yourself.
You looped up a little bit that you're going to
break a sweat and you know shake. You know, the
games don't mean a whole lots. You're not pushing it.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
We call it rink rust.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
You're you're trying to get rink crust rink rush someone.
By the way, when you were asking them over and under,
someone thought the over and under for me to say,
rock rank again is going to be like zero point five.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Much higher than that rock rank, Rock rank?
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Uh well so so so so there you go.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Uh, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Let's take a break.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
A couple of other rides and want to get to
Viking really and uh may not even rip Rosen? Why not?
Well it's not really a Rosen rip, but it just
goes to show you how you can take a topic.
You can look at this and you can look at that,
and people can have completely different divergent views.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
We'll do that next.

Brian cafean text line it says, uh, you paid off
my rock rank over under common Can you get Rosie going?
Sometimes you get I'm going so much He'll cut you
off and go calm and then continue with Ben liber take.
It's delicious. It is delicious when it continues with this
Ben liber take. You know yesterday asked him. He said
the Wolves would be the second seed because they didn't
want to go over the top and say they're going
(19:13):
to be you know, SGA.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
And the okay, see thunder, okay.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
See thunder. But he picked the number two.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
And then it's funny you say that ESPN did there
and again not that ESPN is the final say, but
they thought the Wolves.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Would be an eight seed.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Yes they're projecting you, but only win forty three seven games.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
You know, it goes to show you that two different
you could have different views on the exact same team.
Rosen's got them probably to be the number two seed
in the West. You got to win sixty plus games,
don't you think pretty close?
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Pretty close, number fifties? Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
I mean because you think, okay, see it's gonna win
upper fifties to maybe sixty years.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
So yeah, you got to be mid fifty seventy.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Yeah, maybe even they could even win, So who knows,
you know, I you know what I like about that
we talked about this last year. They played defense start
to finish, and they run ten deep. They have you know,
and I think Finchy said that he was going to
try to run he was going to try to go
deeper this year, which I've never understood why teams don't
(20:17):
do that anyway. I mean, I guess maybe they only
trust eight guys. They just think the other guys are
any good.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
But yeah, if the depth.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
But but you don't know if you have the depth
until you play the depth.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Because there were guys that you know, the two draft,
the Dillian Ham and then Shannon and Guards and some
of the others. Well, how do you know they're not
any good? You never play him ever, never unless it's
a complete blowout. So again I understand what you know.
The comparison I made his football. If you play a
rookie and he makes one or two bad plays, that
(20:48):
can cost you an entire game, and that one game
could cross you the season. You throw a young guy
in and playing basketball, fourth game of.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
The season, you put them in to give.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
One of the starters a blow for two or three minutes,
and if he's off, we'll get him off the court.
Is he's probably not going to cost you the game,
nor is he going to cost you the season. But
we'll find out. When did the Wild begin the regular
seasons tomorrow night? And then uh in st Louis and
one of the Wolves there shortly thereafter.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
I would think, right, it's got to be cool.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
They're usually like two weeks after two weeks.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
So we'll have that going for us, which is nice,
you know, I was I was talking earlier.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
Looks like October twenty Secondtober.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Twenty seconds, so it is always off.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
We have been talking for.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Uh several weeks now, ever since Carson Wentz took over
for J. J.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
McCarthy. You know, we saw MacCarthy, you know, the first game,
the first three quarters.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
He was he looked lost, he looked like he was
he was he was overwhelmed, and then he had the
brilliant fourth quarter led the Bikings to three tutties against
the Bears, Bikings winning gets NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Everybody's pretty excited.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
The coach, you could tell, was very yet he was
full of vim and viger, uh, vim and vigor. After
the after the day after the game news conference, and
then we saw just a really bad performance against the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
It was at that point that he.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Was announced the following day that he had a high
ankle spraying and then he would be out for a while.
And that now that that while is gone a little
bit longer, I think. But and then since then, Carson
Wentz has been the quarterback and he has gone two
and one. I talked about Mark craig'spiece, and I thought
(22:43):
I saw a thought from him here, and he did.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
I like what he's done.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
This is.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
What to make of the weird NFCNE North. And then
he goes on to do, let's look at what's happened
so far around the North. He says, who do you
think he has as the most valuable player to this
point five weeks in in the NFC North.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Did you see this piece or not?
Speaker 2 (23:09):
No?
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Okay, most valuable player in the NFCFC North. I guess
it's got to be Jared Goff.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
It is Jared Goff.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
That's who he selected.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
He said.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
The Lions still underrated stars joined.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
Peyton Manning is the only quarterbacks ever to complete at
least seventy five percent of their passes with at least
twelve tuddies in a passer rating of at least one
twenty through five games.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
It's pretty gaudy. Yeah, you know, Peyton Manning.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
You know if he's is he in the hall that
already happened or is he's does he still not? You
have to wait five years or I don't know how
long it's been if he's in the hall or not
in the hall. But ye know, a guy just think
because of eligibility, I don't know if if he was
in the hall, I mean he's going.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
To be if he's not.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Yeah, oh yeah, okay, yeah, so so he's in. Who
do you think he says is the biggest disappointment, like
individual player or it's an player. Could we go Micah Parsons.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
He's got jj McCarthy.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
He says, one of six quarterbacks drafted in the top
twelve a year ago, McCarthy's been healthy in it for
two starts two The other five has started combined eighty
seven games. And then, of course he quotes Bud Grant,
the best ability is availability.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Who do you think he lists has the biggest surprise
an individual?
Speaker 1 (24:28):
Individual biggest surprise Caleb Williams. I guess Carson Wentz. Okay,
I was gonna say Carson Wentz too. Here's what he writes.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
This is that quote or that maybe not quote, but
the sentence I was thinking about, says, completing nine to
nine passes for seventy one yards on the ten play
eighty yard game when he drive against the Browns top
ranked defense, raised Wentz's record of two and one.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
Then he goes new rule. He wants to instant a
new rule.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
When you do stuff like that, you should get to
keep the starting job until you don't do stuff like.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
That call with the Nick Foles rule.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Wentz knows a thing or two about that one. So
I think Craig and I at least agree on that.
I agree the other two of the biggest disappointment in
the biggest surprise, you know, golf, being is I mean,
that number just jumped out at me.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
You know, the one twenty quarterback rating, twelve tuddies.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
And and completed at least seventy five percent of your passes.
I mean, that's that's that's Peyton Manning like, and that's
exactly who he matched. Biggest disappointment, I certainly think it's McCarthy,
And I'm with Craig. I think, especially in football and
(25:48):
at the quarterback position, if a guy's playing, he's playing well,
and he did that kind to just all of a
sudden yank him out and put foot McCarthy. And because
he's your God, your hand picked him and you want him,
and and you don't have to.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Do it that way. I I you know, he said,
new rule.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
I don't necessarily think it has to be a rule, because,
as you and I talked about earlier in the grum,
if your Josh Allen's or your Pat Mahomes, or your
Lamar Jackson's or your Jared Goff's get injured and then
they're ready to come back three weeks later in the
backup's done a nice job. You don't call sorry, sorry, Pat,
(26:29):
but you're out for a while yet because Gardner Minshew
has really been on a roll here. But you know,
McCarthy hasn't been on a roll. He's done nothing except
for the one quarter of play. And you know, I
know we need to see who we have at quarterback
and this and that and the everything everything. But you
know I brought this up before, you know, I did
one of the sales guys. And he goes, because I
(26:51):
brought up the Aaron Rodgers sat behind Brett Farbi, he goes,
ha hin who In other words, he thought, well, of
course you're sitting behind FARV. Why would you be sitting
behind Wents? It doesn't matter name it's the the idea
that Rogers is a four.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Time MVP and he's going to be.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
He's won one big game, and he's a he's a
surefire first ballot unanimous Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
And yet he sat for.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Behind far.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Sometimes you just have to wait, right, you just you know,
there's their current quarterback, Jordan Love waited for a company, right,
He went for a couple three years behind Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Now he has not achieved what Rogers and Farv has
as of yet and may never get there.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
That's that's yeah. But he's a quality NFL starter, And yeah,
I mean you can make that argument.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
But and then that.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
He has the best stat in that belong that's one
seventy four and that belongs to the lines. It's that's
how many points the lines have scored. It's also a
franchise record through five games, James. And it comes unfortunately
at an embarrassing moment in time for those of us
who thought losing last year's offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to
the Bears would be a significant blow.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
For the line. So apparently Craig thought that way as well.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
I mean, I'm not going to tell you that I
thought it would be.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
There would be a transition period. But I've said all along,
if you've got really good players, it's like if you
if you have a high powered race car that's finally tuned. Now,
I went to the Skip Barber racing school, so I'd
be able to handle it without any trouble at all.
If I parked and tossed the keys to you, it
(28:44):
might take you a little bit, but you'll figure it
out after a while because it's a finally tuned automobile.
Same thing with you know, the the John Morton guy,
he's been coaching forever. He's a coaching dinosaur.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
You throw him the keys to that offense and go, oh,
this is on a fund.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
So I just don't think. I don't know what to do.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
What am I gonna do with Jared goff A, mon Ross,
Saint Brown, Laporta, uh, Jamison Williams and and and suckle suckles,
knuckles and son?
Speaker 3 (29:13):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Knuckles and son?
Speaker 3 (29:15):
I don't know what I'm gonna do there.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
I've always said, show you show me a successful NFL
head coach. I'll show you a coach that had a
successful quarterback, right Like the ultimate example is Bill Belichick,
Tom Brady for all those years he's considered the greatest
coach of all time. What happens when Tom Brady left?
Fell apart there because mac Jones is not Tom Brady. Yeah,
(29:40):
and now he's at the University of North Carolina early
but not going well so far. Yes, tom Brady's going
to make you look like a better coach. Coaching can
only get you so far.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
That's exactly right. That's I couldn't agree with you more.
I'll call what text messages up coming? This one says
is ten and seven with wins better than seven and
ten with JJ Wentz won't likely play bad enough to
lose his job. It also won't win a big game.
Playing JJ gives you a chance to see what you have.
That being said, play once against the Eagles. Well, why
(30:18):
you can't have it both ways? You're saying Wentz is
only going to get you at ten and seven if
you got to see what you got, then you play
him right now?
Speaker 2 (30:25):
I well, I like the you got to see what
you got.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
Well, according to what you just said, JJ McCarthy is
worse than Carson Wentz because you just in your own scenario,
you had JJ McCarty winning seven games looks like there's.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Not a lot to look at.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
Yeah, that's exactly right. And I don't know what the
rush is. I really don't. I mean, and I look,
I understand the the playing a quarterback under his rookie
getting the most. You cannot of Wally's under his rookie deal,
because then you have money to spend on other players. Well,
(30:57):
the Vikings spent that money. They did that. They spent
a whole bunch of money. They've they they signed two
guys in the interior of both the offensive and defensive line,
are paying them big money, and it really hasn't The
two guys they got to be in the middle of
the defensive line don't know how to stop the run.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Apparently they have They have no clue.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
They can rush the passer, apparently, but they have no
clues how to stop the run. Matter of fact, we
might have been better off keeping the who who is
the guy we are? We might have been better off,
you know, we thought we were too deep at that position.
We have so many members we can afford to get
rid of Harrison. At least he stopped the run. It
seemed like he did it.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
He couldn't rush the passer, but.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
Yeah, but we can't stop the run now. No, And
and we've sell with you know, the one guy we
got h it's the center. That's that that Ryan right
that said that has the two concussions. The other guy
is Fries. Yes, he's our right guard. He's still healthy.
(31:56):
He's the only healthy offensive line and playing. So I
guess that's been uh uh.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Pretty good too. Here's an but back to that scenario.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Would you rather have Carson Wentz gate a ten and
seven or JJ McCarthy gate to seven and ten. No,
I'm not under the belief right now that Carson Wentz
is like gonna lead you to a big game. But
if you knew he was gonna get you to ten
and seven and get in the playoffs, you still.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
Take that chance.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah, Absolutely, as low over chance as that might be,
he's still taking. He's still a veteran quarterback. You still
have the quarterback whisper. If everything was healthy around him.
There's a scenario in which they could make a run.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
You are correct. It's it's called a chip and chair
and a chance. Here's one here. I think he's Look,
he's being a little condescending here, colemin You do know
that Wentz lost to Pittsburgh last week, right, or do
you not know that? No, he didn't lose to Pittsburgh
last week. They won last week. They they they beat
Cleveland last year.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
It was two weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
It was two weeks ago, and he did lose. I
would put that more on Rogers played really well that game.
I wouldn't put all that on Wentz.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Those interceptions or deflections.
Speaker 4 (33:02):
Yes, it's like, I mean, this is coming from somebody
that wants to see JJ's here's what. I don't know
what percentage of fam this is. And it's in every town,
for every sport. You so badly want your team to win,
and you so badly want the draft pick to pan
out that you become blinded to anything else.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
It's forever since we've had a franchise quarterback.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
And so I I sympathize with with with the text messenger.
He's bitter with me, probably right now because you know,
I'm suggesting that just keep playing Wentz until Wentz goes
in the tank.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
Hey, look, I think they're going to start McCarthy against Eagles.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
And I hope he's brilliant. I'd love it.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Well, it's it's good for all of us professionally is
really good for us.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
I think they're going to start once you think so,
I think it's all one more let's see one more
week what we got out of them.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
We can still hide behind the injury.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Right Once you get to the point where JJ McCarthy's
fully healthy, then you got to deal with the quarterback
controversy and the side show that comes along with that.
You still have the one week where you can act
like whether whether JJ is fully healthy or not, that
you can act like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
That thing's not one percent. He hasn't had enough practice times.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
We're going to take it, gonna be cautious with him
because we value him so much. You get the Spike
game with Carson Wentz against former team. I think, and
I might be wrong because to your point, I think
everything you've seen written is I think most people believe
if JJ's healthy, he's playing right away. But given Carson's
(34:37):
gotten you to do a two on one record, and
let's face it, he's looked better in that stretch than
JJ McCarthy look better in the first two weeks. I
know Koc's competitive and he wants to win, and he
wants to win right now. I think he's gonna I
think they're going to hide behind them McCarthy injury for
one more week. Let Carson play and see how it goes.
So what if Carson, if he's mediocre, are bad, and
(34:58):
then it's easy to make the change. If he's great?
Speaker 4 (35:01):
What if what if ones has a really you know,
it doesn't have to be NFC Offensive Player of the
Week good, but he's completes a high yeah, and he
doesn't throw any maybe one interception even, but the team
wins and he, you know, has another game winning drive.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Then what are you the.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Following week going? Is it the Chargers the following week?
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Do you do you.
Speaker 4 (35:28):
Go to Do you go to McCarthy to see what
you got in? One of the Viking fans would think that,
do we got to see what we got?
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Do we though? Right now? Well I don't. There's still
time to see what we got. I think so.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
But people they get anxious, Guys like Rosie, they get anxious.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
They want to see what we got. We got to
see what this kid can do.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
We want him to be the savior and we want
it and we want it right now.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
That's that's the way sports. Sports, sports is your whole
life to sports is we'll find out.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
And I do think part of what what plays into
this and it's just I I it's it's just I
think the coach is very confident in his abilities to
coach up That's why I think they passed on Donald. Yeah,
Donald was he had he had the bad game against Detroit.
(36:17):
I get that that was bad. The Rams game was
not his fault. That was the interior line's fault. The
team admitted it. The coach said so, and they decided
to Now again, it was it was going to cost
more money to get but winning costs money. But they
decided not to do that. Rogers wanted to play here.
He had he he gave him the cursory. I think respect,
I'll bring you in a chat with you. We've had
(36:38):
a good relationship. Hey, I know you'd like to play here.
But Aaron, I think we're gonna We're gonna go with
the young kid.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
But I love you. Good luck to wherever you end
up signing.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
But and so, I think he believes that he can
coach up a kid. He can coach kid up quickly
and have him ready to play. And I think he
really felt that way after that first game, after the
three quarters of struggling, then that brilliant four. Cordy thought,
this is that we made the right decision in going
this way. And now I don't know that the Atlanta
(37:06):
game was so bad. I don't know what to think.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
The team indicated this offseason that they weren't one percent
in on JJ McCarthy. They still liked him and thought
he had a shot, clearly because they they gave him
the reins, but they reportedly wanted Daniel Jones here. Jones
opted for Indianapolis because you get more opportunity. They reportedly
chatted with Aaron Rodgers. There was Kirk Cousins rumors. Yeah,
for a little bit, they clearly. But before that all that,
(37:31):
they offered a contract to Sam Darnel. Now, they didn't
want to shut JJ McCarthy out because they still like him,
have reasonablelieve he can be good someday.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
But this wasn't just a we.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
Got our guy guy everyone, we're ready to go JJ
mc We don't need anybody else. They they flirted around
a little bit. Well it'll be interesting to see, you know,
because I was.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
I think, you know, I was convinced that they would
keep Winz and I came around Rosie's way of thinking
and thought, well, no, they're going to go back to McCarthy.
And now you and I have kind of flip flopped,
or at least you think they're gonna stay with the ones.
And I think you've convinced me that maybe they will
do that for one more week against.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
But I feel like I'm in the minority like you.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
If you read other people are saying, yeah, they think
we once JJ's healthy, he's going to go. I just
think they're going to fake the injury for a little longer. Yeah,
maybe not be completely honest with that.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Right that it's you know, I mean, because they want
him exactly one ninety eight and so we'll see how
that goes.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
Here's what text Man says. Your logic is flawed. If
you follow you in tena logic, it should be Donald's job.
It was never really McCarthy's job to begin with last season.
So huh, we're talking about we never said with macarthy's
last season. What we're saying is Donald Donald took the team.
(38:57):
He was brilliant last year. He was really good. He's
he resurrected his career. You can give the credit to
anybody you want, But I think we've been looking for
a franchise quarterback. He played like one except for the
game against Detroit, and I think that one's still And
you can make the argument that you don't think Sam
Darnold is worth one hundred million dollars and maybe he's
(39:19):
not good enough to get You know, there are a
lot of guys out there that are really good quarterbacks
tend to me, but they're just not They don't have
that last.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
Little whatever you want to call it, that it fact.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
Or whatever it is, that cannot only win regular season games,
but it can push you through the postseason.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
We'll see Seattle's.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Form three and two.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
They lost a heartbreaker to the Tampa Bay at the Buzzer.
We'll take a break Mark Rose and he'll join us
next here on the Common Maan Program in the FAM
