Bad common man, common man, no shoe, solid plan, says
sit approach will fail.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Toy, it's time for common man.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Common man, common man.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Charge of house was that going.

Speaker 5 (00:23):
Can was shoot where we playctivated man?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
It's time for common man?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Oh boy?

Speaker 6 (00:35):
Why should anybody aspire to be a common man? An
average man? Do you realize what it means to be average?
That means you're the best of the lousiest and the
lousiest of the best. Now, if we demand more and
more for producing less and less while they have not,
nations encourage and inspire and indeed require hard work and
maximum effort. If we deify the common man while they

(00:59):
encourage and reward the uncommon ones, well, the end result
of such a lopsided races that is too obvious to
require elaboration.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I mean it's.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
No, you don't know nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
We don't do it. Next question, I tell nothing but
a racket. He's a rude Yeah, I always love that.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
One can't answer?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
What are you doing there? Breaking up? Bob? You're breaking.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Disappointing?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Is that.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Jet disadvantage? Circadian miss alignment?

Speaker 5 (02:21):
Heyse stand up, fortrill, stand up.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
It's only one way to beat us. Started to see
me with the teeth. Oh my god, a trunk of
that would.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
I'm unlimited, mister unlimited.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
What do you think about kid?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
That's okay.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
I want to care.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
I don't want to pay you doubt enough from your
hair and.

Speaker 6 (03:04):
You wont.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Hundreds of the hundreds, hundreds, hundreds.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
He's the clown from.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Brown He's the fourth in the North. This is the
common Man. Dan Cole Morning Show.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
I've got a message for the Power Trip Moarning Show.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
I say, maybe closer than they appear.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Rum begins right now, five three to you know, you
know the whole bit, boy, I'll tell you what if.
There's plenty to get to today. First of all, it
has the Kansas City dynasty starting to crumble. Major League
Baseball playoffs continue. A couple of clubs can wrap up
their best of five series here in the next day
or so. Quarterback controversy can continues to swirl here in

(04:01):
the Twin Towns. Golden Goldhers to try to pick themselves up,
dust themselves off, and get back at it after a
loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes. The reverberations of the
controversy between the WNBA Commissioner and the Minnesota Lynx continue
as well the while they're about to embark on a
twenty twenty five twenty twenty six season, as are the

(04:25):
Wolves with all those topics.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Where do we start?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
While we spin the wheel at top.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
And George Flacco traded in Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Bengals commons gum games. I want to talk about both. Flatten,
what'd you shoot today? Seventy seven?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Where'd we play?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Royal Club? The Kingdom had to hit it on one,
right up the gut the greenway. I had an iron
in my hand and hit a right smack dab in
the middle of it. We actually started on ten. That's
where they had. They were air raiding fairways five and eight,
so they started us on the back second I played
as I hit just dead center of the green and
two putt for Parkers. I played as well as I've
played all year. I've thrown down a couple of seventy

(05:14):
six is. But the Royal Club is a very challenging
golf course for me, and it started yesterday at Loggers.
As I told you, when I played, I said, I
think i'm I think i've I think I found something
out here. I think I figured something out. And then
I went and played the backside at loggers a second
time and shot one over and just striking the ball beautifully.

(05:38):
I had a couple of lean tos today where I
lean into it and hit some poor shots. Two of
the three times, I was still able to get up
and down for par, and I played about as well
as if I played like that every day. I was
putting again to probably better than eighty percent of a
PGA Tour player. So it was, you know, I tend

(05:59):
to sometimes enjoyed the process, and I tend to I'm
just so focused on on the results that I don't
enjoy the tossing the grass up in the breeze, and
you know, fiddling around and looking at this, and you know,
you can look at this, and you can look at that,
and you can look at this, and you can look

(06:19):
at that. And it was just one of those days today, Tenny,
and I wish you would have been there with me.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
You don't play golf anymore, new It's been a long time.
It's had a golf club in my hand. Got an
opening tomorrow. If you want to play, you just can't
get out any white guy. I gotta put kids on
the bus in the morning.

Speaker 7 (06:43):
On Viking season, starts, and then school starts and youth
hockey starts.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
It just it's over for me.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Wow. Yeah, well, I guess that's the way it goes.
Sorry about that.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
That's just the way it is.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
That's just the way it is. Some things will never change.
As Bruce horns be in the range once sing sang song,
what's going on? I got nothing? While I'm resting on
my laurels. I was told yesterday by the the UH
program director that I can take a knee. It's been

(07:16):
going that well for so I'm very excited about where
we've been, where we're going, where we're at.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Did they also tell you goods the enemy of great?

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:26):
I'm tired of hearing that. That's that's that's like saying
we played our best when our best was required. I
want to just throw up when I hear cliches like that. Now,
let me ask you a question. Yeah, would you trade
Anthony Edwards for Cooper Flag? Did you see Cooper fly
yesterday and in his day before?

Speaker 7 (07:48):
Now?

Speaker 2 (07:48):
I know it's only pre season basketball, right he This
kid I think has a chance to.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Be really, really better and.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
It's only one game. I mean, you know, it's like
I just but I sort of feel I feel about
Cooper Flag, how everybody in town fields about JJ McCarthy
thinks he's going to be a superstar. I just think
Flag is going to be really really good if we
figured out why. It's probably nothing, But remember I brought
up in passing and then we I think we ran

(08:20):
out of time. Why didn't Anthony Edwards play the very
first preseason game and you thought to keep him from
getting here? Well, all the other teams, all all their
regular players play, all there's every preseason game they do. Well,
should they do? Yeah? Yeah, they all play. Joker, that
was their first preseason he played. He played nineteen minutes. Murray,

(08:40):
he played eighteen minutes. They play.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I don't know why Edwards didn't play. Is there something
mysterious there?

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Is?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
It just not that big of a deal. I just
wanted to know. I just want to remember.

Speaker 7 (08:48):
I don't know NBA basketball preseason protocol well enough. I
just know, like in hockey, like your Caroca Price Offs,
maybe the six preseason games will played twice. Okay, So
I just assume that's what the Wolves are with Anthony Edwards.
But maybe they did well, Maybe that isn't Maybe that's
all it is.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
It just seems a bit odd to me because in
that game against Denver, all of Denver's players player and
everybody else on the Wolves play. The only one that
was missing, conspicuously absent, was Anthony Edwards. And I was
just wondering why if they just wanted to rest them,
or you know, maybe he had a personal thing you
needed to do. I don't know about load. Maybe they're

(09:26):
load managing and managing them already here and it's only preseason.
But anyway, wait, I guess I guess that is neither here,
uh nor there. At the beginning of the season, you
predicted Kansas City and Minnesota in the Big Game and
you were on your own after Do you still feel

(09:47):
confident with both of those selections? Kansas City? I don't
think there's any reason to panic. I really don't, cause
they're very good. But I was surprised by as a
matter of fact, here's the mistake I made.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
You know, how.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
There were people that left the Minneapolis Miracle before the
Minneapolis Miracle became the Minneapolis Miracle. And had I not
been douced teasing to be all the time, he goes,
if you had not been with our neighbors. You know,
father's son, the Holmes, Jeff hone Dad and Ian Holan
the son. You would have you would have left early.

(10:23):
And he's right. I would have left that game early
because it looked like the vikings were done and it
was snowing outside and it's cold, and I don't want
to get in a long line. I would have left
that game. I did it last night when I saw
Mahomes doing his what is his celebration? Where he what
is that? Yeah, something like that. He did the old
but he ran it in. He was coughing off ol.

(10:45):
Look at us. We're up fourteen nothing on on the
three and one Panthers or no Jaguars and lo and behold,
I look at my handheld computer, which doubles as a
communication advice and Kansas City got beat.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Welly and the the the the football fabio, the guy
at the long hair, Mitch Lawrence. Did you see did
you watch any of the game?

Speaker 6 (11:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (11:11):
I did you watch the beginning? Because no, I don't
think because they had like they were like for they
were like fourth and goal. Decided to go for it
and he did. Yeah, he decided he was going to
jump over to and the guy just swatted the book
a lot out of his hand, and I thought, this
is just so Jaguar like, you know, and it's just

(11:32):
how the Chiefs roll.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
And they're up fourteen the end zone.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Yeah, and when the TV went off, my wife said,
that was quick, and I go, this game's over. I
thought it was over. I gave up on the Jaguars.
Now I don't feel like I missed out. That's not,
you know, on the same level as Minneapois Miracle or
Game seven five minutes after I'm slapping Big Blackjack Morris

(11:57):
on the back. So missing that game is not something
that's going to haunt me forever because it's just a
regular season game between two teams I don't care about.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
But I did learn a lesson that it tenn Toby,
it's not over till it's over.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
And it was not over. And so that was a
that was a heck of a ballgame. And but we've
got a great start to the National Football League season.
We really do.

Speaker 7 (12:21):
There's a lot of who have thought like Jaguars and
Colts to be yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
And you know, the NFC North is still really competitive, kiddies,
clinging to a one game lead over the And here's
the thing. The Vikings at three and two, I think
the coach said it. He said, you know, he's proud
of the club the way and I'm pair free. He
didn't use these words, but I think what he was
trying to say is we've had a lot of things
going against this, particularly injuries and uh, but we've we've

(12:51):
been scrappy enough to to conjure up a three and
two record, because this team could easily be all ive
right now, you know, and yet their three and two
because they found ways to win. Sunday was was a
prime example of a game that they was they were
begging to win. You know, the football guys were begging

(13:12):
the Vikings to win the game, and they were having
trouble doing it. And then they came up, but they
finally stopped the running game of of Cleveland and then
uh Winez put together uh just a terrific just a
terrific final drive. And as we talked about yesterday, Addison
and and and uh in Jet they were instrumental.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
And now the three and two and they get a
bye week, they get some you.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Know, they're they're thinking Cashman could be ready by uh
by the next game. McCarthy could be ready. I think
I am now beginning to believe they're gonna go with
McCarthy if he's ready. I don't think they're gonna stick
with Carson Wentz. I think they. I think quarterback Whisper
thinks he can conjure some more out the second time
you use the word conjured. Uh, he thinks he can.
He can he can draw from deep within mac dorothy

(14:00):
and uh and and turn them into a winning quarterback
right out of the gate. We'll find out. Plead you
get to we'll take a break. What we do other
side of the break, we'll do peek at the purple

At the Purple brought to by Affordable Electric.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
If you bought an ev recently because you wanted to
take advantage that's seventy five hundred dollars tax credit or
rebate that expire. It expired. It expired at the end
of September. You need one of those level to two
hundred volte chargers in your garage. They can fix you

(15:36):
up with that. They're really good at it. They've been
doing hundreds, yes, hundreds of them. And if you're a
journeyman electrician or an apprentice electrician and you're looking for work,
they're looking for you, sort of like the Uncle Sam thing.
Go ahead, and you know they have a simple plan,
they have competitive wages, gets your own truck. It's a
great place to work. So either way, whether you want

(15:57):
a level to charge you, whether you're looking for work
or any electrical needs, Affordable dash eelectric dot com, Affordable
dash Electric dot com. And remember affordable Electric is shockingly
hey kind of like that is shockingly affordable. I saw
a piece in The Athletic, tend Toby and I didn't
read it. I just read the headline. But it's I

(16:19):
think it's worth what Oh it's called the Athletic. I
don't know. If you're familiar with it, say online, you
know they really you could still get a physical. Rosen
is the last person to actually buy a physical newspaper
and actually read it. Most people now just you know,
get it on their phone. They get they get this
fish Rep factory, west Side app put it on their phone,

(16:41):
which as I do.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
But Athletic they cover all sorts of sports.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
They have.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
They have some of the best writers in the country,
all over the country, covering all the sports for good
or ill, no matter if it's college, pros, uh, women, men,
it's all there for you. Uh, Ted, I can't pronounce
his last name enjy N guy in is how it's spelled,
But I don't think it's pronounced that way. When n

(17:06):
g well it's spent N guy in n g.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
U y e n do you know, yeah, when no,
that's how you pronounce it.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
No, I'm not saying when I'm saying no. So Ted,
when writes a piece how Cowboys forty nine ers Vikings
prove injuries don't always equal doom. It's the week five
film review, film review for Week five, light camera.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Well, that's been happening for years.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
There were a lot of teams that I'll go to
one of my favorite teams, the MotorCity Kitties. They were
it was Detroit's decimated defense last year, but they continued
to win. They went fifteen and two instead a National
Football League record for I think like most man minutes
lost or most most players lost injury on the defense

(17:59):
at eighteen plays year, as I lost on the defensive
side of the ball, they lost. It looks like Terry
and Arnold might be out again too now for a
long time. So it happens to every team. It's oftentimes
it's not so much. You know, the next man up
is is is equal to or better. If he's better,

(18:21):
he should have been starting in the first place. And
sometimes they might even be significantly less talented. I think
in football a lot of it has to do and
I'll use the lines again as an example. Their offense
was so prolific last year and so good. They led
the league in scoring. I think they were averaging something

(18:42):
like thirty three or thirty five points a game. If
you score that many points a game, your defense doesn't
have to be great because you win a lot of
thirty five thirty football games. It helps, and it's not
all predicated on your offense being really good. But you
can you you can navigate the minefield of injuries in

(19:05):
the National Football League if one of your units is
really really good and.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
If you do have good backups and coaching and covering
things up.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
I saw where mind is it? He wanted out of
the Proposteros statement tournament at Craig. What's what? What's Craig's
first name right for the fisher, Ark Craig. What's that?
Mark Craig, Mark Craig, Mark Craig wrote yesterday he had
he always does the you know, uh, he has five
different things he points at that happened in the game.

(19:33):
He does it every Monday, and it's great stuff. And
he was giving a lot of credit to the way
O'Connell was able to to mask the injuries. In other words, Okay,
we've got we've got an offensive line where I mean
they ended the game with four backups, and I think
three of them were actually not second stringers, third stringers,

(19:57):
and they were still able to win that football game,
and they were able to keep the Miles Garrett character
pretty much at Bay.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Yeah, I mean he was. He was virtually a non factor.
So coaching can do it as well.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
It's if if if if, if you have if you
have coaches that can adapt. Okay, we got an injury
over there on that side of the line. Guess what
We're gonna have to change things up. The game plan
I'd like to put in place, It's probably not going
to work the same because I'm missing a left tackle.
So guess what might have to roll out to the right,
might have to do some misdirection, you do some of

(20:33):
the things to cover up. You know, that's where you
use tight ends to chip right, I get tight end,
and so some teams are able to do that. So
I think it's the teams that especially if if you're
if you're if you're injury ravaged on offense or defense,
if your other side, let's say it's defense. In the
case of the Vikings, this offense, their defense is still

(20:53):
pretty darn good. Now they had trouble against the run. Now, again,
Pittsburgh and Cleveland are not two of the best teams football.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
We know that but they they still feel the team.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
We'll see if the Vikings continue to have injury issues,
how they're able to navigate that when they start playing
the Philadelphias is the Detroits, is the.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
The Chargers, the Chargers is Well, we'll see how that goes.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
But yeah, I think that's why I said for the
Vikings to be three and two, I'm I'm pretty impressed
that that they've been able to. Again, it hasn't been
the stiffest competition in the world, but to be three
and two with as many injuries, even know what they've
had to go through, Yes, given what they had to
go through, I think it's I think it's uh, I
don't know, we have.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
Every team gets injuries. Your team knows it as well
as anyone last year. But to have that much on
your offensive line, especially when all your all you ever
hear about from the football guys, trenches, the Burstages of
the world, the ben Levers of the world, is got
to have chemistry on the offensive line. Well, we haven't
had like the same five guys next to each other
the entire time. You're bringing in guys who have never

(22:01):
played a certain position. You're bringing guys who've never played
in the National Football League before undrafted free agents. Your
best offensive lineman's on a pitch count. I mean that
performance against Cleveland, just for that offensive line alone. Yes,
given their limitations, it's very very impressive. Well, the the
the is it Brandell? Yes, that's how you say it, right, Brandal,

(22:22):
It's not It's not, is it Brandell? I think it
might be Brandell Brandell, but I can't confirm. Let's go
with Brandell for now. I defy yourself.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
You know what, Here's here's what I'll tell you. I'm
gonna I'm gonna take a page out of Rosen's book.
Just pronounce it any way you want it right. You know,
some days you will. Some days we'll do it Brandal.
Other days will do Brandell. Today will do Brandell. Look,
I'm not I don't want in at the risk of
idolizing and pedestalizing and making football more complicated than it is.

(22:56):
To have never played center before, because it's it's a
whole different thing, because you gotta stamp the Well, then
you got one a you got a guy trying to
you know, you got a big nose guard in front
of your nose tackle in front of you.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
And to not have played that.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
That's that's pretty impressive.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
They get a week off, they should get some players back.
We'll see how it works. Peak at the Purple brought
to you.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
By our friends at Affordable Electric. Affordable dash Electric dot
com is the place to go.

(25:11):
was something I was going to ask you before I
got to my other topic, but I can't remember what
that was now, so I'll just go right to this.
Somebody send this email to me at.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Comed at cafean dot com on Sunday evening.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
It says common I'm concerned that the question has to
even be asked. And this is from and I read this.
I think this is either fish Rap East or West
or from the Athletic, or it could be both, it says.
In his Media Day appearance, Aunt stated that quote the
most important thing I have learned is that teams that
go deep into the playoffs, they are together. They care

(25:49):
about each other. It's easy to say we're brothers. I
think it starts in the summertime. It starts with being together.
That night, the entire team went out to dinner. According
to Conley, this would be Mike Conley. The discussion came
around a team commitment. Are we coming here to put
on a show perform or are we trying to win
a championship? Said Conley, the thirty eight year old vet

(26:10):
entry what could be his final NBA season, and the
consensus was, we're trying to win a championship, and we'll
go back to the very first. You know, the first
sentence of this email is I'm concerned that the question
has to be even asked, you know, aren't you? In
other words, I think the email are suggesting, what shouldn't

(26:32):
that be the number one goal when you when you
go to training camp and interest season is to try
to win a championship, not just put on a show.
But my response to him was, you know, I maybe
back in the olden days, and I don't even know
how far back we have to go to olden days,
but with the with the obscene amounts of money these

(26:54):
kids are paid. Think about young NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB,
these are all really young kids. Go back, I mean,
I go back to when I was eighteen, nineteen, twenty
twenty one to wow, I got a lot of skeletons
in my closet. I'm not going to get in all,
but I I was really woefully unprepared to attack the

(27:17):
world the way you're supposed to attack. And you know,
because you just and so and then you take it
to the next level where these guys are. They have hundreds, hundreds,
one hundreds of millions of dollars foisted upon them. They're
idolized or pedestalized, and you know, every every one of
their wants and needs is met by the organization and

(27:38):
and and by those around them. The hangars ons is
and those kinds of things that you know maybe sometimes
you you don't you just it's just it's it's such
a you're almost living in a make belief world that
you maybe don't think about, especially when you're young, about

(27:58):
championships and legacy see and establishing something and taking your
job really seriously. We talk about it all the time
in the NBA where you know, after a game when
the team loses, you'll hear quotes happens here with the
Wolves all the time. The other team just tried herd Huh,
what do you mean they tried her you know, so
you hear those things. So maybe this was a conversation

(28:18):
that didn't need to take us. What are we here
to do? Are we just here because we're making big money.
It's all guaranteed. At the end of the day, when
loser draw, they can't take the money from us. I've
got the money now, you might not get another contract eventually.
Remember spree, Well, you know, got to feed my family.
But maybe that maybe that needed to be talked about.

(28:41):
I would say this, it shouldn't need to be you know,
there should didn't need to be Like a vote says
it was a consensus. The consensus are we're trying to
win a championship. So what do they all take a vote?
How many here I want to win a championship? Raise
your hand? How many people just want to put on
a show, and how many? How many don't care either way?
But even if you think that way, you're still not

(29:01):
going to raise your hand for it. You're not going
to acknowledge that yet, So how many of those guys
are even telling the truth. So, but when you're coming
off back to back, because we were, we were in
the Western Conference finals the last two years, right, the
old bum phillips got to the door, knocked on the door.
If you were a team that you know, you've made
the playoffs two years in a row, but you got

(29:23):
you got beat in the first round both years back
to back, well maybe deep down you know, if you're
really being honest with yourself, we ain't playing for no championship.
We're not good enough. Look at the rest of the league,
look at our conference's too many good teams. We I
mean it would be we don't. We don't have the
talent to match up. But when you have a team
that's been to two Western Conference finals, you've got arguably

(29:44):
a top ten player in the league and maybe even
top five, a guy that I think you said, did
you say there was nobody in the league you would
trade for ant He said there's not a player in
the league that he would trade Anthony Hermerson and you
you wouldn't make that or I'm not saying it's preposterous.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
I'd have to think about it.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
I just I just I just you know me, I
just loved it to you know, you even said, well
comment you got your jaw dropped open, like it's like
it's a crazy question. I just think there are some
other players that I think I might well, I don't know,
you know, you know Joker, he's really good this yeah, yeah,
you know. And sometimes when when you know, when you
when you're talking big men like I. It came up

(30:23):
with Webb Yama. Yeah, he's just he seems to be
just at such a young age, he's already becoming a
dominant player that I'd look at him and I say,
may you know, gosh, would I want to have him
more than you know? And you can make an argument
for any one of those, but when you have one
of the top five let's let's call him a top
five player in the league and maybe the best, and
then you've got a lot of other pieces around him.

(30:44):
I mean, the Randall guy played well last year after
after a slow, shaky start, he came back from injury.
He was instrumental in getting him to the Western Conference finals.
Devincenzo or Devin Senzo, what he wanted to do today?
What would you want to call him.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Let's go Devincenzo.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
So Devincenzo. He also got off too slows that wasn't
he injured for a while too? Or was that just Randall?
Whatever the case made? Was he he all of a
sudden started making three pointers, He started playing well, he
started doing the things he used to do that made
him good. And then we add you know, you know,
the uh Gobert, who's the guy we lost a free agency?

(31:21):
Is it na or no?

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Who we lose?

Speaker 2 (31:26):
And and again that's not you know, It's like, well,
I guess the consensus is we're playing for a show.
We can't win to ship without him. But he was
very he was very good for the club. But do
we lose slow Mo this year? Was that last year?
I think maybe we lost SlowMo last year?

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Okay, it's hard to remember. It's hard to remember.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
But all that being said, and then we've got you know,
I'm really intrigued. Rosie wants to see him play down
in in in G League. I want to see him
start with the big.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
Yeah, and we're talking about so does Jim Peterson, Farrel
Jim Peterson.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
We want to see Baron Beryl. Somebody tried to uh
uh correct my pronunciation. They sent me a text message
or an email that said, it's not Barron. You're doing
too much on the all. But if you if you
google it pronunciation and then I hear the pronunciation person
say bereringer and in French would be Barroon.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
He says ron like Barron.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Jay berang jay. So the official pronunciation, uh, And I
don't know how you pronounce its first name. It looks
like Joan and Joan of Arc was from from France,
and so they say Joan of Arc. They don't say
Johann or Joan. It's Joan of Arc, so that this

(32:41):
would be Joan Baron. And I like the idea of
starting with the big club this, you know, if.

Speaker 7 (32:52):
You're going to throw a rookie according to Wikipedia, which
isn't okay, which isn't the final statement because there can
be fixing. It's Joan bar Barrett Barratt. No, that's without
me knowing how to put annunciation on certain say that
that the middle So here's how it's spelled out fanatically

(33:14):
y O h e O dah a h n.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
But that part's capitalized so yo and then it's.

Speaker 7 (33:26):
B A I R a capital bear hyphen i N
lowercase hyphen z h a y captain Jan.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
I don't know how to roll the R.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
No other show would dare tackle this topic. No, I
want to see him with the big club. I mean,
if they if they're think about this, what's the most
important and most difficult position to play in all of sports?

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Tenneby think notorious d That would be the quarterback. They're
throwing rookies into play quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Rookies J J. McCarthy. Now, I know he's not technically
a rookie, but never took a snap in a regular
season game. He's your starting quarterback. Caleb Williams, he was
your starting quarterback, Jade and Daniels. He's your starting quarterback.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
So why is it so preposterous to start now?

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Again? I know these kids have been playing football for
quite some time and the Berange has only been playing
hoops for three years, so I know there is a
difference in experience, but it's just basketball. You dribble, you
pick it up, you pass it to somebody, you shoot.
If there's a guy in front of you, you try

(34:49):
to defend him, and if he takes a shot, you
put up your hand and try to block it, and
if the ball misses and you're in the vicinity of
the basket, you try to get the rebound, and then
you look for a ask break to see if some
one of your teammates are streaking down the court.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
It's not that difficult.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
It's hard to play at the level that they do,
but it's a very simplistic game. So I would take
the big kid and play him. His his hero apparently
the guy he looks up to is the stifle tower.
The other frenchman. Oh, go bet. In America you just
say gobbert, but the French pronunciation is a gobert. So

(35:28):
if let him, let him, let Gobert put his wing,
you know, take him under his wing, put his arm
around him, and guide him in the national Basketball sulicition.
And you know what, if you play him, you know,
a few minutes here and a few minutes there, and
he's and he's got like two left feet and he's overwhelmed.
Then's sending him back down. Say you know, they're not
back down, but say, you know what, maybe you maybe

(35:48):
you need some season in the g What if he
comes out and he's just a monster right out of
the gate, we won't know till we play him not
a G league. So that's the one thing about finsheet.
And he's not the only one because the coach we
used to have here, the guy that's with the Knicks
now with the bad combover, he coaches the Knicks. What's

(36:12):
Thibodeau Tibbs?

Speaker 3 (36:14):
That's sibide I guess we can we look that way up?

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Is it Thibdeaux?

Speaker 7 (36:18):
The nickname is Tibbs, but you pronounce it Thibodeau, so
it makes no sense.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
So I'm start calling with Thibbs. So Thibbs is I
think he's got the same reputation that Finch does. You
play eight guys and nobody else. If you've got to
go to a ninth guy, it's almost like they break
out in hives. Right, I can't go deeper than three
guys on the bench. I just can't do it. They
don't trust these guys. And then we've seen what happens.
So then when we have to when we need the

(36:44):
Rob Dylan Hams and the Shannon Spencer Terrence Shannon Jr.
Well yeah we need it. But guess what, they've barely played.
They're not ready to play.

Speaker 7 (36:56):
Maybe they barely played because they're all about showtime as
opposed to trying to win.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Yes, maybe that's the problem.

Speaker 7 (37:01):
Maybe when they until they want to forget about the
personal showtime stuff.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
I want to actually play team basketball. That can help
us win a ship and then you can play.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
And the consensus was we are trying to win a championship.
Now consensus. Can you look up the word consensus? Yeah,
because before I jump to some conclusions here and start
a controversy, because I'm about to say something controversy.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
That's interesting. Maybe there were some Wolves players that'd voted
to put on a show because the consensussus consensus, consensus.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
Majority of opinion, majority or general agreement or concord harmony.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
So majority opinion or general agree. Now general they may
have all agreed, But what if it is a majority.
What there's fifteen guys? What a five said? I just
want to put on our show. I have no interest
in winning words. We can't win a world show. I
don't care about that. I just want to put on
a ship.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Maybe that's all dyllanammon In Shannon want to do.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Maybe this want to put a ship. That's why I
have late and we don't have gars anymore? Right, No,
he's gone, Well, we don't need him because we got.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
So I like the I like the the makeup of
our of our club, and we'll see that goes. But
they were, well, they do get carried away, you know.
So I'm watching. I don't know where I saw it.
I think it was just on on a CBS sports
dot com on my phone. They basically have already. CBS

(38:29):
Sports is already chiseling out of bust In Canton for
Cooper Flag after one preseason game. One preseason game. That's
why I brought it up. Oh, I mean they they
they literally have him. They're planting their flag is what
they're they're playing. They've got him canonized already. I saved

(38:50):
the story. It was sharing my handheld with your doubles.
Ass Here it is Mavericks, Cooper Flag showcases, legit, point guard, shops,
and sensational NBA preseason debut sensational. Prior to Cooper Flag's

(39:12):
preseason debut with the MAVs on Monday night, NBA reporter
Mark Spears went on ESPN in question why the hype
around Flag hasn't been bigger. Here's what Spears said, where's
the Cooper, Flag train, I don't get it, NBA, what
are you doing? Why aren't you promoting this guy? Get
on the train, get on board before the coming man.

(39:33):
Give him the raise and he said, which he deserts before.
This dude is going to be a star. Nobody's talking
about this guy, and they're making a mistake. This is
what he did his first preseason game, in fourteen minutes,
all in the first flat first half, Flag stuffed the
stat sheet. He stuffed it to the tune of ten

(39:53):
points on three for six shooting, six rebounds, three assists,
and a block. He sunk two of his three three
pointers and didn't commit a single turnover despite operating essentially
as Dallas's point guard. Flag was barely on the court
for a minute before we recorded his first highlight, flying
in for a weak side block to ignite a Dallas

(40:15):
fast break with street Clothes, finished with an alley oop slam.
Street Clothes did a note Flag running his laying hard
after the block to keep the defense from being able
to commit to cutting off Davis on the other side.
In other words, they're complimenting Flag for playing to play
all the way out and not dogging it down the court.

(40:36):
I just find that funny that you know they have
to point that out. He actually kept going down the court.
He didn't just after he made the rebound on the
outlet pass. Just stand there and watch, you know, all
of Paul Allen. Sure you know when Paul Allen when
we used to play pickup basketball, PA would just play
one side of the courts. Still my favorite moment in
all of sports, and I'm talking greatest Game seven World

(40:56):
Series history, Minneapolis Miracle, you name you know, uh down
goes Fraser, you name any of the greatest moments in sport,
minneap the miracle on ice. There was one Pa when
I was when I was going, it's just just so
much fun. We're playing, and he would he would play
in the office and then he would just stand in
the middle of the paint on the defense. He would

(41:17):
put his hands on his knees and breathe hard. And
so was five on four and I go, hey, we
got a guy that don't like to play defense. Let's
skull is poured on. And then he got mad because
I you know, I called him out in front of
so then anytimebody get the ball, he was all over
me like this, this is my face you be in
the tryard.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
I shared video of that. I would love to watch that.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
Oh good, he was so annoyed with me, one of
the rare times he was annoyed with you.

Speaker 3 (41:45):
Yeah, I bet.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
Uh yeah. Here's one. Everyone had arch Manny in Cooperstown also,
and they did. They were already in Texas's last name, yes,
exactly in Texas is now for the first both Texas

(42:10):
and who just lost to ucl at Penn.

Speaker 3 (42:17):
State both dropped out of the top twenty five.

Speaker 2 (42:20):
And that's the first time those two teams have not
been in the top twenty five since Lake I know,
for five, six, seven years something like that. Because Texas
got beat again because of all you know again, they
wanted to annoint Manning and I think he had a
nice high school career. I'm sure he did, right, and
so immediately he's a Heisman Trophy favorite. He's gonna take them.

(42:40):
They think of Ohio State was the defending national champions,
and they had Texas ranked higher than House that was
only one spot one and two. But it was all
because of arch Manning. The voters got carried away because
they thought it's a Manning. We've already seen three other
Mannings play pretty good. You know, Archie the old man
was pretty good. He was just saddled with bad teams.

(43:02):
He played with the Saints Aul those years, but he
was a good quarterback. And then we know about Peyton
and Eli. They got four big games between him to
the each one two. Yes, so they got four big
games between him manning. Peyton's got I think an MVP
or two. Did Eli ever win the MVP? I don't
think he did. Did he?

Speaker 3 (43:19):
I doubt it? But he was never right considered a
top quarterback.

Speaker 1 (43:23):
But he.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
So I guess they just assumed, well, three, you know
two's company, three is a crowd and the four times
a charm, and they just thought arch was going to
be great and he could still develop. But it does
go to show you that they the coronation of these
people before they really have an opportunity to play sometimes
is a bit much and has proven that that here

(43:48):
is here as well. So that'll be interesting to see.
Kind of thought. It was just before one o'clock, but
I ate my lunch already and it's we had the
PJ flexshow a little or did you listen to any
of Fleckers A kind of going one ear and out
the other because you're doing other things.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
I don't listen to them a whole lot.

Speaker 2 (44:05):
Yeah, because I just wonder. I know that after the
game he put there's nobody that can put a more
positive spin on a forty two three beat down.

Speaker 7 (44:15):
I will say, like early on PJ, I did hear
the part where he was talking about, like, you know,
we really didn't beat ourselves, right, we've we only had
two penalties, we didn't turn the ball over Like I
he made it seem like he didn't think they played
that bad, just the team they were playing. He basically said,
like was the best team he's ever yeah coached again.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
Which which which which I do admire. But he did
say there were a lot of good things to take
out of the tape there other than if you consider
one of eleven on third down conversions good to take
off tape. I guess that's great, but yeah, that's I
mean that they're just on a whole other level. And
that goes back to about when we talked about the
being delusional thing that he said that is delusional to
think that you can get into that, because I mean,

(44:53):
I Alwaystate might be on a different level. But there
are there are I bet there's another dozen teams that
are close to that. You know, Oregon and so to
the others. But let's let's take a let's take a
break and come back, and we welcome Mark Rosen into
the conversation next year on the Fan
