Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mmmm. Sorry.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
We were talking about last night Sunday night football game
and how much fun it was. At the end, I
was screaming so bad. I screamed a lot. I think
my cat almost crapped herself. She ran ran for the hills.
But it was a fun game.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Man.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
If you didn't watch it, you should see the recap.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Your cat crapped herself.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
She almost did problems. Yeah, I did scream way too loud,
but it was fun.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
It was a fun game.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Can see this wide open man and feeling he's going
to the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Made some big plays last night too.

Speaker 5 (00:41):
Yeah, And I and I would say that both quarterbacks,
I don't think they were overly impressive. Like I was
kind of like looking at the lens of are you
want them? Are these jew no? Well kind of, I
was like, are these two like actual playoff caliber performances
by these these teams and these quarterbacks?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
And I didn't think so.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
I mean, there was they each had a couple of
big plays, but overall, I'm like, I don't know, man,
The both quarterback play was kind of sloppy, and then
that last fourth quarter was incrediblelievable.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I mean the play.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
Design was a Flowers to get him open, and I
don't know why it always seems like a big play.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Jalen Ramsey is always around.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
I don't know if it's ever his fault, but I'm like,
here's a big name player that's like always close but not.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Making the play anyway.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
Play design was a great and then we had a
woozy or whoever Chidobe I think slipped on the He
was a cornerback that slipped and all of a sudden,
now there's another touchdown. I mean then the kickoff return.
I'm like, what is happening here? Like special teams make
a freaking play.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Unbelievable. Yeah, that was awesome. It was pretty fun. Man.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
That was a fun I mean yeah, that was a
fun way to end the regular season. Man, there's no
Monday night football.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
And then in case you're one, yeah, nope, I gotta
get ready for the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Let me see what's going on here? Uh oh yeah,
here we go.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
I looked this up for you guys before I get
the New Years, because we found out do you guys,
did you guys know where we pick in the NFL draft?
We being, yes, eighteen eighteenth, that's right, let's see.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah, so out how do you feel about that? I mean, yeah,
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (02:27):
It sucks because, like somebody posted yesterday that if they'd
lost five straight, they'd be picking fifth, which would have
been outstanding.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
But I don't know enough about it yet to know.
I mean, it doesn't matter at this point. But I
don't think it matters where they picked because they aren't
very good at picking the right guy. Oh h wow,
it's really sad sounding. It's I'm sad sounding.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
It's funny that you bring that up, only because this
is a conversation I had with with John Koon with
the Packers yesterday and who's super talented. By the way,
if you if you don't listen to to is it
Matt Schneiderman his podcast with Kuhn, It's it's awesome if
you're a Packers fan, it's a it's a great listen anyway.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
He said that on.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Their pregame show, they're looking up and down our roster,
applauding us. He's like, look, how stacked this team is
talent wise? Like we he was like, we thought that
you guys, compared to everybody else in division, had the
most talented roster in the NFC North. I was like,
that's what really, you guys feel that way. I was like,

(03:36):
I mean, that's flattering. I guess I've never like holistically
looked at it like that. But they seem to think
that we have the most talented roster in the NFC North, well.

Speaker 7 (03:45):
On paper, at the very beginning of the season, we
certainly all thought that, right, and then the injuries and yeah,
the mishaps, the miss throws, the injury again and the injury.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
I know how much of that, though, is free agency
over drafting though I just was a loaded free agent.

Speaker 8 (04:09):
Club and have to cut you off.

Speaker 9 (04:11):
I like how sometimes Muss's voice sounds like it's a
Civil War documentary, like injury Injury, Like you could do
some good voice overwork.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
That's when the dysentery came in. See there you go, yeah,
and that stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
That sounds right.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
You can you do this for me? This is more
this is more Rudolph than Civil War. Can you go?
And then it hit and then it hits. It's not bad?

Speaker 9 (04:37):
Yeah, same storm ball, Yeah, same musketball.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Some eighteenth overall picks in recent drafts include, uh, Garrett.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Bradberry for you, we need a new centaur.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Yeah, yeah, Randy Jay Alexander eighteenth overall pick in twenty eighteen.
Ryan Kelly was the eighteenth overall pick in twenty sixteen.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Is there a chance right now that Ryan Kelly thinks
he's a centaur? Oh? Or nine? Man? That sucks? Yeah,
really heard you guys talking about that.

Speaker 7 (05:12):
Wasn't it a Rod that actually had a painting on
his ceiling in his room, his bedroom of himself being
a centaur?

Speaker 9 (05:23):
Aaron Rodgers? No, No, no, like Aaron a Rod Oh
oh not a rodg Yeah, a rod the owner of
the Wolves. Yeah, that sounds believable. Let's go with it,
even if it's not true.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
It sounds more like an insurance commercial. He loves himself
some Erasmus James.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
He was horrible. I mean he was he was terrible.
They had two picks that year and they were both bad.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Chad Bittington huh he was the eighteenth.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Oh these are all the eighteenth twenty five years ago.

Speaker 7 (05:59):
Yeah, it was somebody he was throwing to Randy Moss
in college. That's why he got that bit. Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Good. Yeah, but he had he had a heck of
a career though. Yes, favorite quarterback he's ever played. With
is that what Randy said? Who else you got?

Speaker 2 (06:18):
That's all?

Speaker 1 (06:19):
That's it. That's where the draft stops at eighteen. Jeff Bennington.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Yeah, I mean that started. He was in two thousand.
That's how far the list went back. And I just
named a bunch of people and then I deleted the
think because.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Yeah, fair enough.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, but anyway we could get good players from the point, well.

Speaker 9 (06:35):
For sure we can yeah, or bad ones yeah, or
ones that are okay.

Speaker 8 (06:39):
That's the beauty of a pick eighteen.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
And here in the vikings is a bit perhaps we
will take a look at who we will be playing
away and at home next year.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
That came out last ye we know, now, yeah we do,
we do.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
But first it's the.

Speaker 10 (06:53):
News with Chris Hockey, I presented by the twenty twenty
six IIHF World Junior Champ being ship bet it's not oh.

Speaker 8 (07:06):
Man, we've had a day already.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
Better what have you doing?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
I mean it is still going on. Yeah, he just
doesn't involve the US. Zach and Parish sounded really good
on the air though, by the way.

Speaker 9 (07:20):
Don't don't don't do don't forget Alexis as well.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Oh yeah, that's multiple broadcasting duos. But yeah, they're all
killing it is, Zach's your mic not on? Have you
dialed in? Yeah? Daddy? Oh I wasn't set up back here?
Uh yeah, one.

Speaker 9 (07:34):
More day, one more day? Uh, Metal round, bronze medal,
field medal, similar marial. What of that's a long layoff
for these teams that are trying to win this thing.
They're gonna get rusty. Zach, Are you on the call
or is there no game?

Speaker 1 (07:54):
No? No, just uh. I'm gonna go there though and
enjoy the games, and you should too. What time will
that be?

Speaker 8 (08:00):
I mean I'm not going to but.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Well I wouldn't. I wasn't really talking to you.

Speaker 9 (08:03):
Well you're not in my cult, buddy, it's not happening.
You're not even inviting me to the World Juniors. That's
not not going to invite you to my cult. No, Ben,
would you join my cult? Yeah, he hesitated.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
I don't like that. Well, I just don't want to
be touched.

Speaker 8 (08:19):
So why would you assume that was part of it?

Speaker 9 (08:22):
Well, that's kind of a part of all cults, right, No, certainly, Yeah,
you could be in.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
My leadership group. And I think we have.

Speaker 8 (08:32):
No no, no, no, I think we all get to you
could be on like the Council.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah, yeah, I don't want to have you seen.

Speaker 9 (08:38):
One battle after another. No fantastic movie. You could be
one of like you guys know what I'm talking about.
Then he could be on the board. Yeah right, the
secret board that runs out.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
I would yes, I.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
Would you for that as long as as long as
I got to be touched.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
I like Max, though, they wouldn't let me be a
part of the more. I heard you you employed Max
for a while on your show there.

Speaker 9 (09:07):
Yeah, movie really really good.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
It's on Max.

Speaker 8 (09:16):
I think that's why I watched it.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
I think it was HBO. Yep, thank you. Yes, Theo
del Toro is awesome.

Speaker 8 (09:25):
Chan Penn's awesome.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Okay, I think Academy Award for it. I mean, he's
definitely gonna be It's gonna be him. Has anybody seen
Marty Supreme?

Speaker 9 (09:35):
I have.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Yeah, it's really good. It lives up to the hype. Absolutely.
Is it long? It's like two hours and some two
and a half.

Speaker 11 (09:43):
Yeah, so it's it's it's doesn't feel long though, it's
and it's if you've seen the other movies from the
Safti Brothers, it's it's of the same cloth for sure.
It has that same kind of frenetic, kinetic, chaotic pace
where one thing leads to another leads to another, and
it's like this impossible set um circumstances is and it's
somebody's running for their life, somebody owes people money.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
It's kind of the staples of the Safty Brothers movies.
But it's great.

Speaker 9 (10:05):
Not familiar with those brothers, Okay, got it, good time,
just Robert Pattinson.

Speaker 8 (10:11):
Wow, they all kind of got that same.

Speaker 9 (10:15):
We haven't talked to you since New Year, So speaking
of the Duffer brothers, there's another set of brothers. What
did you guys think of these Stranger Things finale?

Speaker 1 (10:23):
First? I what no, I liked it.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
I did like the epilogue being kind of a robust,
because you know, you are long, Yeah, you kind of you.
You are like curious, like what's going to happen after everything?
Did not love the final battle?

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Too short?

Speaker 5 (10:44):
Too short? Yeah? Yeah, it wasn't wasn't dramatic enough. We've
had so many seasons, We've had such a big build up,
and and that was sort of the that was the ending.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
I was like, no, no, gotta give me more than that.
I would have.

Speaker 9 (10:59):
Yeah, I would have if that was a little bit
longer and the rest of it was a little bit shorter. Yeah,
that last hour lasted too long. B plus Yeah, solid
I agreed. I thought it was fine.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
Yeah, muss, I thought that show was unbelievable all the
way through. I really really love Stranger Things. I couldn't
wait for the new episode. It comes to all caps,
but it comes spot.

Speaker 8 (11:22):
Loved it all except for.

Speaker 7 (11:24):
I wasn't gonna I wouldn't say I was hate watching,
but I was really like, I kind of just want
this to be over it the whole season with the Vikings.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
I just kind of want this to be final season
or final episode, final episode.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
I just want to I wasn't even like intrigued, how
are they going to end this?

Speaker 1 (11:40):
It was just kind of like when are they going
to end this?

Speaker 7 (11:43):
And I was just not as intrigued as I was
in multiple seasons and even in this particular season.

Speaker 8 (11:49):
Interesting, that's appreciate it was it. Kurt Bill's no was hurt.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Mister Bills loved it. Did you guys excuse me? Did
you guys see the.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
The proof that the theory that Mike came up with
is not just a theory, but it actually did happen.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Who's Mike Mike not Mike Mussman.

Speaker 8 (12:15):
I've not seen that.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Okay, we can talk about it off their Dusty Cowtown.
He Dusty survives, Dustin survives. Now I relate to the
number of waterfalls. Is that part of it, Chase, No,
because I thought that was curious too. We can talk
off air, Yeah, we can talk off air. No spoilers here.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
I thought it was fun when Eleven said.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
Cyonaras kind of she kind of good.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I kind of guessed, well done, Hawgs.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Thanks man, you know her name even Yeah? Yeah, I
do agree with you that Vecna is one of the
best all time villains.

Speaker 8 (12:54):
He's an all timer.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (12:56):
The special effects are unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yep, spoiler alert. Thanks do your do your best vectum impression.
Let's hear it.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
I really don't have a vectim yeah, Chris, Sorry with
Chris about that.

Speaker 9 (13:18):
The number brothers love the eighties so much and there's
so many eighties references.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
What if when did he's a four three or four four?
I think it's four four?

Speaker 9 (13:28):
What if Vecna shows up and the first time you
hear him talk it is Bobcat golden because because he
loves Police Academy so much that Bobcat does the voice brilliant.

Speaker 7 (13:39):
Sounded like Bobcat was drowning when he also said, get
over your baby podcast.

Speaker 8 (13:47):
Bobcats is a little pervy.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Anyway, there you go, man, that's right, and we got
stuff talking about when we come back, right right? Oh yeah, baby,
I got the sports. The Wolves won by a couple.

Speaker 9 (14:00):
Yeah, they won by a million. Yeah, that was maybe
their best win of the year. We do have one
firing in the NFL. There's a bunch of rumors of
other ones down the road. Today is normally kind of
black Monday, but we have one team that has already
fired their head coach.

Speaker 8 (14:13):
But it sounds like there's more on the way.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
We'll talk about that.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
In the second I heard Ben. Is that guy a
defensive specialist? Yes, we might need one, right, Yes, interesting.

Speaker 6 (14:22):
Any coach with chaos, that's a lot of angles.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
There.

Speaker 9 (14:25):
More of the Power Morning to with Ben Leeber, Michael J.
Musman the Third and Sassole walk us through sports after
this on the fan.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Man.

Speaker 11 (14:39):
Make sure to follow Campan on all social platforms at
caffan one zero zero three.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
No. Two years ago, Ben Yes, the Nebraska and their
fans felt like they were about to conquer the world.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Matt Rule had taken over the program.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
They wanted to disappointing five and seven in his first year,
but it was merely a tiny speed momp. After back
to back seven to six seasons, feels like they're back
at square one. Forty eight hours after the transfer portal open,
they've lost a dozen players. We've all decided they want

(15:28):
to play elsewhere in twenty twenty six for a team
the desperate leads depth, they've lost a number of those
in just two days. That's right, over a dozen players
have chosen to leave Nebraska.

Speaker 7 (15:40):
So Nebraska is the upside down, is what you're saying
for college football.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
I think that's just the first we've heard about. I
think this will be the most ridiculous transfer portal year
in the history of college football.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Okay, So when you say that, that doesn't actually seem
like a lot of players for one team.

Speaker 5 (16:00):
Yeah, I don't know why twelve doesn't seem like a
huge number.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Maybe it is depends on what the twelve are actually too.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
Yeah, I mean, obviously you need to know, like the
quality of the twelve players.

Speaker 9 (16:13):
Well, what's the standard roster now, it's one hundred, so
that's like ten twelve percent.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
I mean, so yeah, I mean I guess if it
isn't a bunch of starters and all that stuff, I
don't know.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
I mean, how does that compare to other Power four teams?
Like how many players have the Gophers loss so far?

Speaker 2 (16:35):
The one that mattered.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
I mean, oh, yeah, he did hit those. He's got
one foot out the door. I mean, I honestly don't
think it's that big of a deal if he leaves.
But right, really no, I mean, based on his play
this year. Fact for sure, he wasn't even close to
being a top five defensive player on the team.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
So I don't know, you know, whether they say that.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Because he was concentrating on playing offense and didn't really
get involved in the defense as much as he should.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
But when I watched that kid play, I was like, well,
he's got a long way to go if he wants
to be one of the best, kidd long way to go.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
They're saying, here.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Power for programs, see over twenty players leave in a
single cycle, So here you go. I guess that's a
low number comparatively yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
Well again, if it's if it is like starting quarterbacks
are in wide receiver, you know, linebacker, edge guy like that's,
then it's more impactful. But if it's you know, if
it's stuff that you think that you can find in
the transfer portal too and replace them, then it's a
kind of a wash. And if you don't have to
overpay the guys that are coming in, one of them

(17:50):
is the starting quarterback, right.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Yeah, good, that's fine.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
I think I don't know, you guys pay attention to
his antics.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
I mean, it's ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Golden Gophers are are getting Tennessee Tennessee offensive tackle Bennett
Warren in the transfer portal.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Is he still going to call into common?

Speaker 4 (18:10):
He played thirteen games for the U of T in
twenty twenty five from Sugar in Texas, twenty second ranked
recruit in Texas, eleventh ranked offensive tackle nationally in twenty
twenty four.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
So that's good. We're getting a big old offensive tackle.
That How big are we talking here?

Speaker 2 (18:24):
I think he is six eight two ninety five.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
That's a huge bitch. Just made that done.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
I don't know, I don't know. He might be five
to four.

Speaker 9 (18:32):
I have no idea I'm going to take the over
there he is, he's running towards PJ. Wow, what's the
shortest D one tackle of all time? Like, has there
ever been a guy that's five eight? Can't be like
a ty Cob?

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Yeah? Bring up ty Cobb again? Is there is there
a ty Cobb type player one edition? Because once you
get under six ft years less?

Speaker 5 (19:00):
Yeah, Like, who's there rolls of offensive talking to tackles
in the history of D one football?

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Yeah? What would you guys guess like five eleven or ten?

Speaker 5 (19:10):
Are you talking? Can you go talking like Power four?
Power five conference? Are you're talking like all divisions going back?

Speaker 7 (19:17):
I mean in history obviously there is a lot of
guys that weren't just one day as they are nowadays.

Speaker 9 (19:21):
Because there's somebody on a current roster that's five eleven.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
I doubt it. I doubt it. I doubt it.

Speaker 8 (19:26):
But who knows.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
I never know.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
I would say probably six one, six y two is
probably the shortest you could be for an offensive tackle in.

Speaker 11 (19:36):
That saying Willy Willy Lampkin is what five to ten?
What school you went to? You played for? Coastal Carolina?

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Five ten? Yeah, that's kind of five ten four hundred
at a tackle he was five ten? Or are you
just talking an interior offensive one? He plays for the
Eagles right now, Well, interior se you can be you
can be five. Ok Yeah, offensive tackles have.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Time for five on the Power Trip presented by All Around,
your Timber dech deck building contractor.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Thank you all around. Hey, mister Rogers. The Vikings beat
the Packers for their fifth straight win to end the season.

Speaker 8 (20:22):
They won sixteen to three.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yo. That was buster, Ryan, I don't worry about it.
Continue Okay, Justin Jefferson had one yards. He went over
one thousand yards for the sixth straight season. Thanks for
the hundred bucks I paid you immediately.

Speaker 9 (20:39):
You did pay it. You paid I think from the
time he caught the ball to the time my Venmo
notification went off. I bet it was under sixty seconds. Yeah,
it might have been even before you saw it on TV.
It was super fast. Yeah, because why fast? Cash makes fast?

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Uh?

Speaker 9 (20:57):
And your bets are your word? Yeah? Into that has
everybody paid you? And Parker for the survivor.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
Chris Bonus, Marnie crisol Zacho, Tomo corro.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
A meadow.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
All right, what do I owe you? I'll send you
right now? Fifty bucks?

Speaker 8 (21:16):
Who else are we missing?

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Though? I think was it how many people? Was it
eleven or twelve? Was it more than Okay, there you go. Yeah,
I thought it was a lot more than that. Perry. Yep,
did you say, Perry?

Speaker 2 (21:25):
I did not know.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Whoh what is so? Bonus has?

Speaker 4 (21:30):
That's one, Marnie has, crisol has, that's that's free, Zach has,
Tommy has.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
It was just fifty, yeah, fifty.

Speaker 9 (21:38):
Well it was one hundred and fifty to Chris, fifty
to Parker and they split it. Oh, got fifty to
Dusty and fifty to Dusty Cowtown. Yeah, is that everybody?
Or who are we forgetting?

Speaker 5 (21:48):
Then?

Speaker 1 (21:49):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (21:50):
I don't even know who was in it.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
I don't remember.

Speaker 8 (21:52):
I lost track anyway, Sauce, continue my turn.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Uh jj. McCarthy pulled himself out of the game in
the third quarter with his hand thing.

Speaker 6 (22:02):
The Vikings season is over. They will select eighteenth in
the NFL draft.

Speaker 9 (22:07):
Ben, Your thoughts is a player about a player removing
himself for a quote hand thing.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
You know, I mean, I don't love it, don't love it.
I don't love it.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
I know that there are situations where yeah, you might
not be able to. You might have to alert the
training staff that hey, something's going on and something doesn't
feel right. So there are certain circumstances where you were like, yeah,
I needed, I need this looked at. But to pull
yourself off mid series after one pass play in which

(22:39):
it seemed everything was fine in the second in the
second half of the game in which you seem like
you're throwing the ball fine.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Yeah. I don't love the optics of it. I don't.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
I don't love what it it kind of means for
for him. I mean, for a guy that has battled
injuries and has this this mark on him as far
as a reputation of not being healthy.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
I don't know. I would. I would have gutted through it.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Me personally, I would probably push through it as much
as I could. You know, get through this series, and
if you have a couple throws where you are errant
and you are inaccurate and it looks like you can't
grip the football, I would choose to have them pull
me off the field or evaluate it during the next
when the defense is on the field, and then have

(23:28):
them deem, hey you can't, let's let's get you out
versus taking myself out of the game.

Speaker 7 (23:33):
I was surprised that the towel didn't like magically fix
his hand.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
Again, I don't love the theatrics of it. I don't
love the optics of it. There's so much drama that's
that's surrounding that you don't need to place a towel
over your hand. It's not melting, it's not there's not
a bone sticking out, it's not disfigured. It's not harming
anybody by looking at it.

Speaker 9 (23:56):
But if you had removed the towel and a white
dove just flew out in circled US Bank Stadium for
an hour like Tony Wonder.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
So you know they're again.

Speaker 5 (24:08):
I think that I think that he's got a lot
to learn about just the body language, the behavior, the
outward optics of how things look.

Speaker 9 (24:18):
So the question we asked, like an hour ago before
you got here, on the the gas tank meter from
full to empty, right if full is one hundred percent,
this guy's a franchise quarterback. We found our guy, which
we all agree, that's not where we're at no to
all the way to zero, where your tank's at empty,
and he's an absolute stone cold bust. Where's your where's
your gas tank? If full is one hundred and empty

(24:41):
is zero, I mean I'm sixty percent full or you're
you're on the full side.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
I'm on the full man.

Speaker 9 (24:50):
I think you're still in the minority then, because I
think most people are on the other half, right, I
think I'm at a quarter tank.

Speaker 6 (24:55):
Would you say, sauce, Yeah, I think it. Yeah, I'm
on a quarter ten percent whatever.

Speaker 9 (25:00):
You're sixty percent, So give me tell me why you
think you're so slightly towards the favorite.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
Sad because I do think when you when you look
at his his playmaking ability, when you when I look
at I think when we all look at quarterbacks, it's
just not me. You look at some of those intangible
things about making making plays when you have to make
a play, I mean, look at I referenced and alluded
to Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers watching the game yesterday.

(25:26):
The totality of Lamar Jackson's play was I think average.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
It was like it was all right.

Speaker 5 (25:33):
But when he escapes a sack like he did, where
two defenders have kind of a free rush at him,
he ducks underneath, has poison enough to find Za flowers
and floats the ball perfectly to where he can catch
the ball and they score a pretty dramatic touchdown. Those
are plays that I feel like McCarthy can make, and

(25:55):
there's an elusiveness, there's a play making ability, there's a
there's a little kid play backyard football that is inside
of him that I actually like. I think it's a
positive thing we saw a little bit of yesterday, and
I actually think that means that he can grow into
what they want him to be as far as a
pocket passer and commanding the hudd a little bit more

(26:16):
and making some of those throws. I think he's still
wildly immature mentally, and so for that that's why I'm
not there's there's definitely a tug of war going on
with me internally because I like a lot of the
physical things that I'm seeing. I like the intangible things
that I see, but I don't like some of the theatrics.

(26:38):
I don't like the way he handles himself sometimes on
and off the field, and I think that matters, and
I think to be a leader, I think that matters.
And I'm not so sure that's something that he's going
to mature into in his time here, if he's got
if he's got a long runway, which I think that
runway is shrinking dramatically. So I'm still on the I

(27:01):
still lean positively, but it definitely will waiver depending on
who we bring in this offseason.

Speaker 7 (27:07):
I don't care how much gas is in the tank.
You gotta call triple A because the thing won't start.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
That's the problem. I mean, that was very clever, well done.
I mean sincerely.

Speaker 7 (27:17):
I mean, we have no idea because I just can't
stay on the field.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Yeah, the injury is a big part of it too.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
And yesterday when he hurt his hand and came off
the field, the coach talked to him, the trainer talked
to him.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
No one else talked to him.

Speaker 6 (27:31):
He walked up and down that sideline looking for people
to talk to.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
No one talked to him. That's your state comment when
he gets here at ten thirty, Yeah, that's your starting quarterback.
Nobody talked to him. That's not a good sign. Not
rallying around him. No, they have bad breath.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
Maybe Here are the people that were in their survivor Hawk,
Corey Bonas, you, Me, Parrish Parker, Marnie Carly uh did
I say, Bonus, Zacho, Fargo, flash lead and Tommy.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
All right, so we're short a couple, but you'll get there.
I'll get there.

Speaker 8 (28:06):
Vikings News is next. We have other questions for Ben.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Yeah, and we gonna talk about who we're gonna play
next year.

Speaker 9 (28:10):
And when go through the schedule, you can ask whether
he thinks all those people we talked about earlier will
return in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 8 (28:20):
More after this on the fan, it's.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Time for Vikings News on the Power Trip, presented by.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Oh Yeah, Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 9 (28:34):
How about this? I know it's Vikings News, but can
I just reiterate the stat Ben from earlier that I
just saw even one notch higher.

Speaker 8 (28:42):
ESPN just threw a Jets stat up.

Speaker 9 (28:45):
You played defense, right, It's nuts that the Jets win
an entire season.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Without an interception?

Speaker 9 (28:52):
Right, yes, just again, out of pure luck, you should
have one or two.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
One not one one?

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Seventeen games season.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
No one.

Speaker 9 (29:03):
First time in NFL history, uh, since they kept I
guess nineteen thirty three, I think is when they started
keeping track of the tats or something. But first time
a team has ever gone an entire season without an interception,
and since nineteen thirty three. No team has had fewer
than two, and the Jets this year finished with zero.
But how about this, Benjamin Jets opponents quarterbacks all quarterbacks

(29:27):
they face this year, and again, Aaron Glenn's a defensive
coach and he's the head coach of the Jets. Yep,
the Jets opponents quarterbacks thirty six touchdowns, no interceptions and
a one to ten point nine.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Passer by.

Speaker 9 (29:42):
Thirty six and zero thirty six touchdowns no interceptions. Wow.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Man, and the one ten that's.

Speaker 8 (29:49):
A huge one ten point nine.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
And that's a defensive head coach.

Speaker 8 (29:53):
That's nuts.

Speaker 9 (29:55):
I just just the variance of one ball gets popped
up in the and some you know, fat defensive lineman
grabs it.

Speaker 8 (30:02):
How does that not happen once in seventeen games?

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Correct?

Speaker 5 (30:06):
I mean just the flukiness of all of those pass
plays and not one tip ball to the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
I mean, that's where you get a lot of these.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
Interset not an overthrow, not an overthrow in the secondary,
or a safety's over the top and they just like
just kind of falls in their hands.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
That's it's shocking.

Speaker 7 (30:21):
Well, the Jets didn't play the Vikings, so then nuts, Well, honestly,
this is not a defensive JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 9 (30:27):
We had how many how many McCarthy interceptions this year?
Could we say like, wow, that was a Addison dropped
it and popped it up, or even Jefferson popped it up.

Speaker 8 (30:36):
That wasn't really on JJ.

Speaker 9 (30:37):
There was at least three or four of those on
receivers not McCarthy.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Didn't happen once to the New York Jets all year long.

Speaker 5 (30:46):
Yeah, and I and I think you guys talked about
this earlier too. I think just as crazy as a
stat is the turnovers that we had this year.

Speaker 9 (30:54):
Thirty we led the NFL and turnovers Jill finished with
the winning record nine and eight. Yeah, thirty ways for
the Minnesota Vikings, the most in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
That's that's preposterous. I mean, get back to the Jets.

Speaker 9 (31:05):
They had four fumble recoveries, so they only had four
takeaways the entire seasons, okay, and the Vikings gave it
away thirty times to right, thirty twenty one picks, nine
interceptions or nine out fumbles, and that's of course between
all of our quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
But still twenty one interceptions, which man right, since it's
Vikings news Ben.

Speaker 9 (31:29):
Yeah, let me throw a bunch of names that I
did before you got here, and I want your take.
I give you the name, You give me the percent
chance they're back in twenty twenty six, Okay, koc Oh
one hundred percent, Flores forty percent, Quazy eighty percent, Harrison
Smith two percent two like the whole season, or just

(31:55):
just that he's a Viking next year at any point?

Speaker 1 (31:58):
Yeah, zero.

Speaker 9 (32:01):
So you think he's truly he's retiring or he's going
to find a different spot.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
I think he's truly he's done. He's done done.

Speaker 9 (32:07):
Addison back, we're straight fifty fifty to fifty. What about McCarthy, Oh,
McCarthy would be back? Yeah, I agree, Yeah, I think
it's I think it's one hundred. I think it's one
hundred percent that he'll be back. Maybe i'll put it
in maybe ninety five, because there's probably a five percent

(32:28):
chance that you know, in Sauceas theory and Sauces world,
like if we make a huge splash for a veteran
quarterback and they're like, well we need something in return,
you know, we can have our cupboards be completely bare either.
So if we need to have a quarterback, then then
maybe there's an exchange there for quarterbacks. But I think
at this point, if you bring in anybody that's not
a top tier, you know, free agent or tradable quarterback

(32:50):
that's like an already a starter, then then I think
it's gonna be a let's duke it out and be
the best man win last one.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
T J Hockinson zero percent, oh zero zero, just out
the door. Yeah, I think.

Speaker 5 (33:00):
I think that's part of the reason why he didn't
play yesterday. I think it's part of the reason why
Aaron Jones didn't play yesterday. I mean, they don't want
to be on that.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Yeah, they don't.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
They don't want to be on the hook injury wise,
because these are most likely two guys that they're probably
getting jettison for contract reasons.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
I have two more. Jonathan Allen.

Speaker 5 (33:17):
I actually hope that it's like eighty percent that he's back. Hargrave, Yeah,
twenty percent I think on Hardgrave. Yeah, that's a that's
a fat contract number for a guy that did not
produce the numbers that we were hoping for.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Yeah, I love my mom, anybody else.

Speaker 9 (33:41):
Why that fits, but that fits the same anybody we
didn't name that you believe is done that we will
not see back next year.

Speaker 8 (33:48):
That's a significant piece.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
I mean, Naylor will certainly go back.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
If if, if Addison becomes some sort of trade bait
or something. Let's see, I'm trying to think up and
down the defensive line, I think they'll all be back.
Outside of Hargrave guards he will be back. I don't
think that he's going anywhere, although he's so talented he
could probably go a lot of places. I mean, like,

(34:18):
I don't know, does a guy like I even Pace
come back.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
I don't. I don't you know, it's a guy he
was even on the team.

Speaker 5 (34:23):
You know, I'm not sure that that moves the radio
dial much. But yeah, Harrison will be back. I mean yeah,
I think I think those are like the core.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
You know.

Speaker 5 (34:34):
Obviously, then our our special team's battery will be back.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
I'm hoping. I mean, they all had phenomenal years.

Speaker 8 (34:40):
Here we go back to the Harrison Smith. You said
two percent.

Speaker 9 (34:43):
If Flores his back, does that number still stay at
two percent or increased?

Speaker 5 (34:49):
It increases, but only slightly. I get the feeling that
he's just done well. I get the feeling that if
if b Aflow comes back. You know, it's it has
to be the perfect, perfect scenario. If bflow let's say
he's back with us, we are a playoff team ready
to make a championship run, then I could see him

(35:09):
coming back for like the last seven or eight games.
I do not see Harrison Smith, even with B flow back,
coming back and going through training camp and playing seventeen games.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
I get the feeling that he wants no part of that.
He's pudgy. Does that work?

Speaker 8 (35:24):
Does a half a season work? You've played in the NFL,
so you get it.

Speaker 1 (35:27):
That does work. Eric Hendricks is doing it right now
for San Francisco. Interesting. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah,
it's been a great run. So oh thanks. You read
between the lines a little bit there.

Speaker 9 (35:38):
You just said perfect scenario where B flows back, the
team has to be a playoff ready team. Does that
also mean that likely it's a different quarterback, where it's
a Burrow or a Lamar Jackson between somebody like that.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
Why know, That's why I was saying that I'm probably
on that sixty percent meter of McCarthy being the guy.

Speaker 9 (35:59):
So if in the first half of the year looks legit,
then Harrison would be interested.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
If we start hearing a different narrative about JJ in
the offseason through OTAs in mini camp, which I know
I get it much more controlled practices, like we want
to see him with you know, playing against a real
defense at full speed. But if we start hearing that
he's making some big time strides mechanically and a processing
speed on the field, then I'll start to think that, like, Okay,

(36:24):
this kid really has a chance, because like I said before,
I think that he has some of that gamer in
tangible playmaking ability. I mean, we didn't see him shrink
in the fourth quarter like we thought we saw it
of Sam Darnold and and I think that that is
one of the biggest things to be a franchise quarterback
is you got to have you got to have that

(36:45):
dog in you. You know, you you need to rise
up when it matters the most, not not in week
two in the second quarter, and like you know, you're
you're a dog don that's great, but like we need
you when it's crunch time in a big time primetime game.
And it seems like he lives for those moments. So
I like that part that's actually pretty rare. So if

(37:05):
he can develop those other things and kind of work
on his the the optics of how he operates. Then
I think that you have a true franchise guy.

Speaker 7 (37:15):
Hey, sidebar, we were talking about Harrison Smith. Your interview
with him after the game in the locker room spectacular. Dude,
you do such a good job with those interviews. Thank you,
And that is not an easy one to do when
you you know the guy's getting emotional.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Yeah, you know the guy as well as you do.
That was well. I appreciate that.

Speaker 5 (37:35):
I would actually say that the hardest one for me
yesterday was CJ. Ham, not because of like player stature,
but like when he there was a point where he
you know, his family. I brought his family in and
he was hugging his kids and he hit his head
down and then I was kind of I was kind
of looking kind of beyond him, and then I'm I'm
obviously like processing, like what I should do next, because

(37:59):
you know, that is a lot of dead air for
all of us here on Kfan, But that is an
in stadium bit so that is being broadcast on the
loudspeakers inside the stadium. So I couldn't just take that
moment and say, you know, to the audience like what
was happening in that dead air, right, So I just
had to sit there and just wait for the moment
to kind of be over. And then when he looked

(38:21):
back at me, I mean tears out of both eyes,
giant tears, like all the way down his face. That
one was like that moment right there, I was like,
I got choked up, and I was like, like, I
got to hold this together because I still have to
do this interview. Yeah, I still have to do this
to do this interview. And but but you know, I

(38:42):
I knew that Harrison was going to get a little emotional.
You know, you could kind of hear it and see
it in his face, and so I was a little
bit more prepared because I was just staring at him
and he never like really looked away. It was the
fact that CJ looked away, he was hugging his kids
and talking to his wife and then looked back at
me with just full full tears. I'm like, man, yeah,
this is this is a tough one.

Speaker 7 (39:02):
I love it for the coin toss that they just
have CJ Ham go out.

Speaker 5 (39:05):
Well, that wasn't the intention though, it was not, No, No,
I thought it was because I was talking to. The
intention was to have Harrison and CJ and then Hawk.
It sounds like you and you heard the story too.
Harrison made a decision that most of the game was
going to be about Harrison and he wanted CJ to
have his full moment.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Oh, that is so cool.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
It was when I talk about covering every base man. Awesome,
that's just great. It was going to be the two
of them, and he said, no, this should be just
CJ's because people are going to be talking a lot
about me today.

Speaker 7 (39:34):
I referenced Tommy West because he had mentioned that Leslie
Frazier did that for Jimmy Kleinsaucer in his last game
that he had.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
He goes, no, you just go out for the coin toss.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Yeah. Now, here's the coolest thing that I hope that
I wish had happened. And I never and I and I, man,
I'm if there's one thing that I'm kicking myself over
of my interview with Harrison after the game is not
asking him this because I was prepared for this and
I and I was like, man, I hope this happens.
And I did not ask him if it was going
to happen, if we had the opportunity on the sideline.

(40:08):
He took a snap from Michael Jurgens and took a
knee and they both laughed when he took the clean snap,
they dapped each other up and he walked away. In
my mind, that dude was getting ready to be in
the victory formation.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
To take the final knee. I have story on that.
Oh you do? Is that out?

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Koc?

Speaker 4 (40:27):
We were gonna do the kneel DOWNEF had kicked field goal, right, Yeah,
we were gonna kneel and he was going to put
Harrison in as the safety guy.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Okay, I did not hear that that was confirmed.

Speaker 4 (40:36):
But Harrison had talked it with his teammates and was
going to go up and take the snap. And so
Koc was kind of deciding whether or not he was
going to put the put the kebache on that because
he didn't know if it was a good look or not.
But he also realized they'd already had their moment at
the two minute warning. But yeah, that's the reason he
did that. He was on the slie going to go

(40:58):
take a quarterback snap in his last play. Ever, Is
and Minn sort of like he talked about.

Speaker 5 (41:03):
Okay, so that's why he sort of they sort of
smiled at themselves and dapped each other up because he
just took the one snap and it was clean and
he took a knee and then he kind of they
kind of smiled at each other like Okay, yep, that
makes a lot more sense.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Yeah, and that wouldn't that a big great hope he
had done that.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Yeah, amazing man.

Speaker 9 (41:19):
And by the way, how cool is it that they
had a scenario where CJ Ham had a shot at
a touchdown and got it. But like, that's not guaranteed, right,
There's so many things that have to happen because you're
not going to hand it to CJ fifteen times and
hope he just breaks one. You got to get close
enough where you're all right, we're like two or three
yards out. He can hammer it in from here perfect.
That was awesome that he got the uh the send

(41:39):
off the TV coverage. I know you guys were doing
the broadcast, but the TV coverage was all over his
wife and his family in the stands. That was super cool.
They were obviously very pumped that he got a touch on.

Speaker 1 (41:49):
That was awesome.

Speaker 8 (41:49):
Yeah for CJ.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
Man.

Speaker 9 (41:50):
It was Scott Van Pelt's best thing he saw all
day at the start of Sports Center last night, Oh
wow wow the family reaction or just a touchdown in general.

Speaker 7 (42:00):
The touchdown is going to be his last touchdown, is
it looks like right? Yeah, his last touchdown his favorite
team that he grew up watching and beating the Green
Bay Packers. Doesn't matter if the game mattered at all
or not. That's his last memory. Yeah, And I know,
I know a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
I guess she was talking.

Speaker 5 (42:33):
There's a twenty four hour rule, you know, so she's
just like, all right, moments over, bye bye. I would
just say that from a I know a lot of
people out there like, okay, it was a meaningless game,
and I go, I get all that stuff and then
it you know, people are probably my person two to
my left is talking about draft status or whatever.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
But like it really was.

Speaker 5 (42:51):
You could not have come up with a better storybook
ending for this team this year. When JJ comes out
healthy and he gets his thousand yards, which was I
actually was going into the game thinking like, don't play
this guy, like it's not worth the injury risk for
a thousand yards, but it was a goal of his.

Speaker 1 (43:09):
He got the thousand yards and then c J.

Speaker 5 (43:12):
Ham gets a touchdown against the Packers, we win the game.
He gets a huge applause, makes a one handed catch
in which the fans go crazy, and then Harrison Smith
gets his multiple moments like it really checked every single
emotional box that you wanted to have happen to end
the season. So I'm just glad that the football guys

(43:35):
are on our side.

Speaker 1 (43:35):
Yesterday, I have breaking news.

Speaker 6 (43:37):
Yeah, same, do you too? Go ahead? The Browns have
fired Kevin Stefanski.

Speaker 1 (43:42):
Wow, ye, not his fault, Nope, nope.

Speaker 6 (43:47):
Everybody says he'll be the top coach coaching candidate in
the new cycle of head coach.

Speaker 9 (43:53):
So so far, Raheem Morris out in Atlanta and Kevin
Stefanski out in Cleveland, and we're hearing what Pete Carroll's
gonna out correct in Vegas.

Speaker 5 (44:01):
Yeah, you saw the PFT thing about about Tom Brady
bringing in Flores to be the head coach there.

Speaker 8 (44:08):
That's the hot rumor the front runners.

Speaker 5 (44:10):
Yeah, that's the news from last night was that Pete
Carroll was going to be out and then Tom Brady
was going to put together Brian Floores as head coach,
