Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, Hello, Hi, is this Vinny? This is this Juliana.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yes, Hi, how are you?

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Nice to meet you? Welcome to the Vinie Penn Project.
I was just listening to you, I think. Is that
you your vocals right for Always Morning?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yes? Yes I am.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
That was a banger. I was just listening to you. Go.
I've been weeding you see, I've been off there so
a little yeah. I love it. I'm trying to think
who you sounded like a little bit to me. I
don't know if I'm in the seventies. It's just a
strong voice. I love a vocalist. Always Morning came to
my attention. You just played the Summer of the Shoreline

(00:37):
the fest right yest and one of your videos just
popped out to me like you were killing it. The
band was killing it, so I said, I got to
find out who these guys are. And you got a
slewid dates coming up in Connecticut. Where are you from, Juliana?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
So I am personally from Milford, Connecticut. I grew up
there and I still live there now. But the band
we like to call her home New Haven, but we
have met from like Wallingford. One of our bass player
lives in Mystic and now. Actually, our guitar player lived
in Massachusetts, so we're all over the place right now.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Mystic's got a great arts community though, Milfin'. No, no,
not a slouch either, Yeah, yes, that regards a lot
of great venues and just really, you know, great communities
as far as this kind of stuff is concerned. How'd
you come up with the name for the band Always Morning?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
So Brian and Charlie. Brian is our guitar player, Charlie
their drummer. They are actually brothers, and before Always Morning existed,
they were in their own little musical group band and
they made instrumental music mostly, And when I started hanging
out with them and just like tossing around the idea
of being in a band, they would show me their

(01:51):
instrumentals and there was one called Always Morning, and I
like became obsessed with the song called Always Morning, and
I just thought the melodies were so cool, the guitar
parts were so cool, And after drafting a bunch of
crazy names, we settled on Always Morning. I was like,
why not just call this song because this is kind
of what connects us musically, This is like something that

(02:12):
we want to build on.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
And yeah, so yeah, well, it's my life too. I've
been doing morning radio for thirty years now, so I
liked it for that Selfishly, I liked it for that
reason too. You guys are just a rock and four piece.
A lot of dates coming up from Cafe nine in
early Offust, which is a great room in New Haven.

(02:36):
I'm sure you've been in it before, but have you
performed in it before, Juliana, Yeah, you have.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
We played our first original show at Cafe nine and
we just like fell in love with that place. Yeah,
so any chance we get to go back, we we
do it because it's just a great community, a great vibe,
and we get to play with some really really cool
bands on our on our bills. That's really a great show.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
That's the one I'm probably going to come out to
because I'm looking you got a lot of I love
Stella Blues too. That's the end of September, which has
been getting a lot of really interesting live music lately,
and it's just at this point. Actually, I remember when
it opened, tragically. You were probably a little girl at
that time. Yeah, I kind of remember when that opened,
and now it's evolved quite a bit. Stellar Blues. You're

(03:22):
there on September twenty sixth, and then in between those
two dates there's farm Fest, which I've always wanted to attend.
But farm Fest is like a drive for me. Where
is what part of Connecticut does that end?

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yeah? Farm Fest is in Pocketuck.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yeah, we're actually as a band, we're making it like
a little weekend trip. We're even getting an airbnb because
it's still still far up there. Yeah, but it's going
to be a great time. It's such a great event.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Well, and the other one is the other shot is
midway through September is East Rock porch Fest? Tell me
about that. I mean, I've got a lot of friends
born and rast Rock, But is this the first ever?
I don't know that I've ever. I've heard of porch
in your town and Milford had a porch best for years.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah. So we actually did Milford Porchfest last year and
we had we had such a blast. And then our
friends from Modern Refuge. I think they are a band
Modern Refuge. They're out of I think they're out of
like Fairfield County. They reached out to us because they're
I think part of like the organizing team for East

(04:31):
Rock porch Fest. So I don't know if it's their
first year, but they it must be because all of
my friends are like, what is that and I'm like,
I don't know, but I think it's gonna be cool.
So I look forward to doing that.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah, I think you guys are killing it again. The
band is always morning. I guess I would tell people
hop on Facebook. You've got a great Facebook page. Where
else would you tell people to listen to your We're.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Also on Instagram if you want to check us out there,
but any any music streaming platform you can find our songs.
And we got our EP there. We got our latest
single from January, and then coming this fall, we'll have
a new EP that were really really pumped it out.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Well, that's the other thing I wanted to ask you too,
because your vocals on should I do it again? I
have been waiting. I can't do it again. It's the four.
You really hit that four. I love the way you
hit the four. I can't do it a second a
second time. But you know again, I've been at this
a long time. I've been around here a long time, so,
like I know the gang from trod now. So recording studios,

(05:35):
I mean, we've got some great studios. To in Connecticut.
Where was Where was your stuff recorded? And who produced it?
It's quality.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
So our first, our first EP and our latest single
we recorded at at Dirt Floor Productions, and I think
they moved their location now, but they're they're a little
more up north. If you just look them up, you
see it's.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Like, Okay, that's a new one too, really cool cabin.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yeah, there they were. They're really really great. But for
our new EP, we we tried out Black Barrel Records
in Shelton, and we also loved this place too, So
we're just trying out different places. Who wants to collab
and yeah, so we're pumped.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yeah, yeah, I mean that's another that's further proof that
Connecticut's got a lot. It's come a long way in
that a lot of recording studios. I noticed that Shoreline
Summerfest because I had TJ. Redding who put that whole
thing together. What a great event that was and it's
just getting better every year. But if if I remember
the schedule correctly, I noticed you were coming on immediately

(06:38):
following Park National. Did you happen to catch them?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Yeah, so we kind of we had to load in
like behind the stage while they were playing, so we
got to see the tail end of their set and
they're great.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yeah. Who I just interviewed Liam from Park National because
they just played Cafe nine. Uh, I thought they were rocking.
I think he's a really talented guy. And uh, how
did the Shoreline Summer Fest? How did it go? It was?

Speaker 2 (07:10):
It was honestly one of the coolest things we've been
a part of. I think it was. It was great.
It was really cool just being there all day long
and seeing so many different local bands and and like
you know, from like Massachusetts, New York I, from all over. Yeah,
it was. It was so cool. I think just the
community there was really really cool to be a part of.

(07:31):
And yeah, it was. We made so many friends, so
many new fans.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
It was just a blast. And then we got to play.
So it was awful.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
And you got prime real estate too. He gave you
the eight o'clock you know, eight o'clock slot. I mean
the music was starting at like eleven thirty in the
morning there, so to get eight pm they must have,
you know, the people who mapped out the day obviously
heard something they really liked to put you in a close.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Yeah, we were really really stoked to have that spot
because then by that time and like the festivals popping,
everybody's like already there to see the headliners. Yeah yeah,
we got really lucky.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Yeah, And that's where I got a hold of one
of your videosts. I wanted to think of down. You
want to know, Juliana. Half the reason I wanted to
come down is I wanted to see my cousin's girlfriend's
house because I think that might be the greatest band
name in the history of band names.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
I yeah, it made me rethink our name. I was like,
are we doing something wrong?

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Because now always wanting is a great always warning is
a great one. There's just something wild, like kind of
wildly relatable to oh, my cousin's girlfriend's house. I've totally
been over a few of those. I've been, and nothing
good has ever happened in it. It's kind of bad
boyish too. It's a little bad boyish maybe too, I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, yeah, it's it's an amazing name.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Yeah, but I think you guys get You look like
you're fantastic live too. You look like you really give
it all you got. You're all over the place, a
lot of energy, so I'm going to try to get
in on that Cafe nine show, which I think you
guys at Triple Bill and you're the first act I believe,
so yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
That might be true. I'm not quite sure, but probably. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Three bands and that one is coming up. That's August first,
Cafe nine and it's Always Morning, and I just wanted
to really get in on the ground floor because I
think Always Morning is going to happen in a big way.
So I wanted to make sure I got in on
the ground floor.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Thank you, I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Yeah, So I wish you the best of luck and
hopefully i'll see you at Cafe If not Cafe nine,
it's going to be the Stella Blue show and hopefully
I'll get a chance to say hello.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Yeah, thank you so much,
