Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right now, we're going to the Project Hotline. Welcoming back
to the show, Brett part News tech editor Calin Madine,
and I appreciate your message of just a couple of
minutes back. I definitely and I don't know if you
got my response yet my reply to that, Colin, but
I think we could tackle both because what you sent
(00:21):
me though, is wildly interesting, especially as a guy born
and raised in Connecticut. Rioters in LA targeting self driving taxis,
I mean, how futuristic as LA. I mean, LA has
both gone back in time in many ways and yet
still you know, koreems towards the future simultaneously. Tell me
(00:44):
about these, Well.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
It's an interesting story, Vinnie, because we're starting to see
certain major cities adopting these self driving taxi. You know,
you get in the back of a car, there's no
one behind the wheel, and they take you where you
want to go, supposedly. You know, I would never get
into self driving taxi. I don't know about you. I'd
like to have a human, you know, guiding me. Right.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I don't even do uber. I'm a post I have
uber fears, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I'm right there with you. Yeah, No, kids want to
do uber, and I say, dude, you're if you're going
to go anywhere, you're getting in a taxi, which.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Totally totally what I say to my kids. I do,
I breed paranoia, but I kind of don't care. That's
just what I said to my kids. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
So the interesting thing is, you know, yesterday we're starting
to see footage merged from these riots, and a lot
of pictures have burning cars in them, because you know,
the news is a visual business, just like TV, just
like the Internet, and I'm seeing these cars burning. I'm saying,
wait a second. Every car burning is a way mow
(01:51):
self driving taxi, which launched in La I think right
at the end of last year. So I looked into it,
and that's what's going on. These rioters, you know, as
they do their you know, their activities, they attack ice
and police and everyone they can. They were specifically targeting
these self driving taxis. They came across five of them
(02:14):
and just started trashing them, vandalizing them, and then ultimately
burning them. The most interesting thing about this to me
is this wasn't just invented by these rioters. We've been
having problems with these way mooad taxis, especially in San
Francisco where passengers are basically being terrorized in them crooks
(02:36):
and hoodlums. We'll see one of these self driving taxis,
usually with women in them, and they'll harass them. You know,
they'll stop the taxis from driving by getting in front
of it. They'll knock on the windows, try to get
them to let them inside. So you know, it's more
of it's not just a hey, these rioters stop them
vehicles and destroy them. It's kind of a larger lawless
(02:58):
California story because these crooks in California, none of the
police aren't going to do anything. They see some women
in a taxi and there's no driver to kind of
protect them or take evasive action, so they just kind
of prey on them. So you know, it's not only
a riot story. It's just a California is a nasty
place to be type of story.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Sure, and it has been for a while now. You know,
it's interesting that you mentioned San Francisco too. A guy
I actually grew as a Connecticut lifer go figure, a
guy that he moved away when we were in eighth grade,
when we were fourteen years old, believe it or not,
too young. We kept in touch. I kept stayed in
touch with the family. There were a wonderful family on
(03:40):
the same street as my family. For you know. However,
many years one of them became one of the brothers
became a San Francisco police officer. And the stories he
tells me, he came on the show once describes as
San Francisco. He ultimately he bounced, as a lot of
(04:00):
police officers do. He's like that, I can't contend with this,
the homelessness, the crime, the elected officials who are turning
away from all of it and painting some picture like
are you kidding me? This is San Francisco, one of
the most affluent, you know, parts of California. He left
for San Jose. He's a cop now in San Jose.
Left the gig. And that's one of the more interesting
(04:23):
things that I think is playing out here is La
got so accustomed to so little law enforcement that now
that the police have shown up and more, well, they're
raging against anything in sight because it makes no sense
to destroy a driverless taxi. Who are you sending a
(04:46):
message to by doing that? It shows it's violence for
the sake of violence.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
There's no question, you know, I think you hit on
probably the most important point, Ny, and the story of
these riots is you have an entire population that's been
trained for years by Soros funded das that I can
do anything I want and at worst, I'm going to
get picked up and let out without bail or something. Right,
(05:14):
And suddenly they're going away a second, these guys are
are not running away and hiding, which has been a
problem with LA riots since I was a little kid,
going back to the nineties. Right, sure, Suddenly these guys
in uniforms with badges are standing up to us. I
think it's a wake up call to these guys.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yeah, yeah, how do you think this this plays out?
I know that heg Seth is now he's talking Marines
in LA. I don't know what the hell he's talking
about there, But how do you I think we've got
a good stretch of time of the chaos will continue
for a good long time there.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Oh, I think you know. I don't think you see
like a federal retreat here of Vinny. I think he's
the Trump and Ice in the Department of Online Security
and possibly even the military doubling down. If you know,
they've given LA, they've given California a chance for many
years here to try to fix what's broken out there,
(06:17):
and it's not happening. You know, it happened to San
Francisco well before in many cases. But LA is broken,
it's not being fixed, and someone's going to fix it. Now.
I'm kind of in line with you. I don't like
the idea of marines on US streets because marines are
combat soldiers. They're very good at combat, blowing up things
(06:39):
and killing people, a slightly different job than we need.
But having said that, you know, what you're seeing in
LA is essentially foreign invaders taking over a US city.
They're not out there flying US flags saying restore the Union.
They're out there flying Mexican flags and flags I can't
even identify from South America.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Really. Uh, my my tone or my crack was aimed
more at hag Seth, just because I think he speaks
sometimes without really thinking, uh, than it is marines. If
we need marines, I'll take marines. Our cities are are
they're getting crazy. I think crazy days are coming. We've
got to say. I don't know if you're aware of
(07:22):
Senator Chris Murphy. Uh, he's if that name's familiar to
you at all, Yeah, I would imagine he's trying desperately
to you know, get that national recognition. Some say he's
toying with hopefully a presidential bid. His latest viral you know,
(07:43):
clip that he's trying to get out there is him
saying what's going on in LA. Trump doesn't want he
doesn't want to comment down. He wants to exacerbate it.
He wants to incite even more violence. What would be
the thought process there? Why this was inevitable? I'm trying
to understand what I think He's just you know, it's
just a liberal talking point, you know, just to get
(08:06):
him clear and whatnot, Because because why would he want that?
Never mind how much Trump has at stake in LA,
how many friends he's got in l or at the
very least Beverly Hills perhaps, but why why would he
want that? He's going to want to look like he's
taking care of business.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, that's a very cynical leftist approach to it. Partly,
you know, the most important thing there, Vinnie, is what
you've already said. If you're a liberal politician, a leftist politician,
you say Orange Man Dad, Trump's wrong, this is his fault.
You're going to get a lot of press. You know,
you're going to be on TV, you're going to be
(08:45):
on MSNBC, you're going to be on the Huffington Post online.
It's a teak code to get media coverage.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
The other hand is, you know, first of all, yeah,
Trump has lots of friends in LA Like Trump is
a very you know, entertainment industry savvy president, and he
doesn't want LA learning because who does. Who wants a
major American city, you know, in lawless riots with innocent
(09:14):
people getting hurt, no one, No one should desire that.
The other hand is what Murphy's sort of proposing is
this emasculated government where it's like, just don't do anything
the rioters don't like, keep them calm, almost like an
abusive relationship, right, Like, just don't do anything that'll piss
(09:34):
him off, and everything will be okay and we can
look like a happy family. That's not how Trump governs.
You know, if these people think that they can, you know,
support illegal immigration that costs us, you know, cost drains
the wealth of California. California is such an unbelievably wealthy state,
larger than most economies of countries in the world, but
(09:58):
their money is just absolutely sucked out by this problem.
If they think they can go out and stop ice
by being violent, you have to confront that and you
have to solve that problem by sending the right people
to jail.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
That's it. That was the other half of his little
clip too, was LA doesn't need They've made it clear
they don't need Trump, they don't need the National Guard.
They have the means to take care of this themselves.
That's just false.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
That's no, they're completely false. We're on a complete scale, Vinny.
They've all gone back dead. Bob there. We actually ran
out a story of Breifert where we had the you know,
a leftist politician from California saying, you know, it's not
a riot in Los Angeles. We have things under control.
Next to you know, the video of the burning cars
(10:50):
and rioters throwing stones and stuff. You know, they're saying
everything is okay. Rick Caruso, who almost became mayor of
Los Angeles out there saying this is emergency and it
may not be on his block because he's rich, but
and he has private security the rest of the city.
I think if you do a poll, most of them
agree it's an emergency.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yeah. Absolutely, and I know a lot of people who
they have living in La. Many left over the last
couple of years. They're like, it's horrible. You know, my
place keeps getting robbed. There's gunshots every night, a lot
of them. A lot of people I know, for what
it's worth, have fled LA for Vegas and have been
(11:31):
doing that. They call Vegas home now for a variety
of reasons. And that's been going on for years. Again,
we'ren with Breitbart News Tech editor Colin Madine only a
few minutes left. I did want to touch upon the
Trump Musk feud, and I don't know if it's cooled
a little either, but I found it interesting that our
liaison said, you know, Colin has had Elon's number all along.
(11:56):
At first I thought that meant literally, like, oh, he's
like he could text him. And then I realized, so,
what tell me what that means? You saw all of
this kind of coming.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah, Vinny, you know, here's here's the issue. A lot
of folks, especially in the politics sphere, started paying attention
to Elon Musk when he got political, when he threw
his weight behind Donald Trump, you know, heading into the election,
and the issue was a lot of folks took him
sort of a faith value. Here's the world's richest man.
He's saying, we've got to make America great again. He's
(12:31):
supporting Trump. The reason we had a different opinion in
Breitbart is we've followed this guy for a decade and
you know, he's He's got a lot of good points
about him. He's the greatest marketer of our lifetimes. You know,
he's right up there with Steve Jobs and sort of
in terms of being a marketing genius. But he loves
(12:52):
to be the ring leader of the three ring circus.
You know, he wants everything to be sort of crazy
in him at the middle of the action. And so inevitably,
I knew from the beginning he was going to turn
on Trump because he wants to be the ringleader. He
wants to be the star of the show, and that
doesn't really happen in the White House. Donald Trump is
(13:13):
the start of the show, and he inevitably was going
to prioritize his business interests. And his business interests have
always been government money going to Tesla in terms of
credits and ecobs, because that's how electric cars become profitable
when they get lots of government money from me and you,
(13:35):
not from making the best cars and selling them to
the most people.
