Speaker 1 (00:23):
The sweet sweet sounds right there. That is good stuff.
Ccsu's own John Violinist. That's him doing some Alicia Keys unthinkable.
Go to the project hotline right now. I'm excited to
welcome to the show. John Violinist playing at the Bushnell's Intimate,
the Maxwell M and Ruth R. Belding Theater a great room,
(00:46):
one night only, Saturday, February eighth, John, how are you today? Man?
What is your actual last day? You know, I didn't realize.
I've been talking with my folks over at the Bushnell
about you for a couple of weeks now, and it's
a shame on me situation because I love the bush now,
(01:07):
but it was lost on me that you actually go
by John Violinist and play the violin. What's your actual
last name?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Well, my last name is Randolph, but yes, I go
by John Violent.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
I don't know how I miss that all this time.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
That's a lot of people have Yeah, yeah, have they?
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Really? That's bold, man, because you're basically saying, you know,
I play violin, I'm going I'm John Violinists. See a
little bit of elbowing people out of the way here
by declaring yourself John Violinist, when did you graduate CCSU.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
I graduated in twenty fourteen.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Oh, so it's been a wild okay, I thought it
was maybe a little bit more recent than that. And
this one night only performance John Violinist. The Rose Experience.
According to the folks that I'm speaking with over at
the Bush now, they're saying you are in the midst
of really taking off right now. What do they mean
by that? What's going on with you making a rect
(02:08):
I'm assuming you've already recorded tons of tracks. I have
tracks right here on my laptop.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah. So I've done plenty of shows across the country
and as well as outside of the country, and all
my shows have done really well, so doubt I'm excited
to be back in the hometown doing my Rose Experience
at the Bush though.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah, and what is the Rose Experience? Is it like
a Valentine's Day? You know, your specific set list tied
to being so close to the fourteenth I would, I mean,
that's what rose, you know, That's what I put together.
I might be wrong, though, No.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
You're absolutely right. So it's a night of roses, candlelight.
You bring some loved one or someone that you're friends with,
and you go by yourself and enjoy some calming R
and B soul jazz music. And it's right in time
for Dountin's back.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, and it says hare if you're a fan of
upbeat pop anthems, John's unique violin interpretations, which I love
stuff like that. I was thinking of the guys who
are blown up for a little while there. You're probably
at the very least aware of two cellos. Yeah, absolutely, Yeah,
I just think it's just such a great way to
(03:27):
get to get these instruments a little bit of credibility.
I don't know if the violin ever needed if the
cellos did, and those guys rocking out Zeppelin on two
cellos is a great way to show, especially young people,
really what instruments that were if they were lucky thrust
upon them in grade school, are actually really cool and
(03:47):
can be plugged into a rock song in a very
unique way. So I love interpretations. But when it comes
to pop anthems and love songs, which ones have you chosen?
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I'll keep those somewhat a surprise, but I will say
I'm a big fan of Alicia Keys and John Legend.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, those lend themselves to it. John, I want to
see you stretch your legs or your bow? Dare I say,
because because like I could hear Alicia Keys totally. I
get she's probably got a couple of songs with some
violin in them. I want a real cheesy love song,
(04:26):
maybe some maybe some Lionel Richie.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
You can do some Richie, I can't. I mean he's
throwing out some Stevie Wonder as well. Well, you never know,
we'll be That's nice.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, that's really good. And then is this something that
you think you might release one day, that this type
of a cover or cover record, if you will, for
lack of a better way of putting it.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
So do you have a cover record right now? It's
called Rise my live cover record, and it's on all platforms.
So yeah, I do have that. When I will be
releasing some more, followed by some of my original pieces
as well.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Yeah. How far away from home have you gotten? As
far as playing on the road.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Mexico to Loom, I think was the furthest I have
done others as a lot in Canada as well, Toronto
and other cities out there, and plenty in the art's
gotten increase all over for Australia, Germany and things of
that nature. Definitely, UK, that'd be good.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Yeah, yeah, that'd be great. From CCSU to the UK.
So on Saturday, February eighth, at the Bush Now, this
one night only show. I would imagine friends, family, some
former classmates are probably going to be in attendance. A
big homecoming if you will.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yeah, I have some friends and family coming as well
as I have a large fan base in the New York, Connecticut,
Boston area, so a lot of them will be in
attendance as well.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Very cool. Well, I wish you're the best of luck.
I'm popping into the show myself. Hopefully we could say
hello and ticket tickets still available right.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Tickets are still available through the Bushbowe website or through
mine at John violence dot com.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
John violinists dot com. That wasn't taken. You were able
to get that.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
I was able to get that.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
