Speaker 1 (00:00):
How do you attract businesses to a state when as
I going to call that was an anti business measure,
he said, totally.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Understand where it's coming from. The fact is, when you
look at the numbers, less than one percent of all
strikes end up going past two weeks. So ultimately this
wasn't going to affect a lot of people. What this
was going to do is ensure the worst actors had
a reason to come to the table and negotiate more fairly.
My feeling is we've seen labor, the amount of people

(00:29):
that are in unions go down precipitously over the last
few decades, and so to act as though business is
in some way being attacked on behalf of the people
that make sure that business works. To me, it's sort
of silly, and I think that if you're going to
be in this position, you have to take on hard fights,
and just saying okay, business, you are right is not
taking on a hard fight.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Deep down, do you want to be governor or do
you want Governor Lamont to be a more progressive governor?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Both things can be true. I do want to be governor.
I've been having these conversations for a few years. The
expectation was that you wasn't going to run again. When
he ran the first time, he said a one term governor.
When he ran the second time, he said two times
and then done. And for me, it's not a matter
if you've been there for too long. It's a matter
of how can we get things done for Connecticut that
need to get done with somebody who's shown year over

(01:14):
year that he is antithetical to meeting the needs of
the middle class.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Okay, a couple of things. One, it was interesting to
hear this, Josh Elliott trot out. You know, statistically speaking,
less than one percent of striking workers go longer than
two weeks. That's interesting to hear. An interesting argument to
Levy there. But I would come right back with, well,

(01:40):
if they knew they had unemployment waiting for them right
around the corner, you know, logic kind of insists, let's
be leasially about this. I could, we could take the
summer off, so great statistic. I don't know why he's
even choosing that fight outside of the that as a
talking point, outside of the fact that it was just headline. Second,

(02:01):
I have zero recollection. Don't go by me on this,
I guess, But I have zero recollection of Ned Lamont ever,
saying he was a one term governor. I covered that
race like no other race. There's the one time I
sat down with him and had an actual long interview
with him. The only time, dear say, I'd like to

(02:24):
see him do more for the middle class. Oh yeah,
that's the Democrats battle cry in it, do more for
the middle class. I don't believe that for a second.
I'm the middle class. Nobody's doing anything for me. Nobody
has and I can't remember. I don't die ever ever.
Good morning, Welcome to the show, Benny.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
My feeling is, I don't think there'll be any change
state government.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
Lamont will be re elected. Connecticut and many people's eyes
has not bottomed out yet. I think it has bottomed
out in many aspects were.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Ruled by the major cities. The major cities will all
this election because the major cities have too much to lose,
because you know, they're dependent on state government, you and
I to supplement their budgets.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
You just nailed everything. I agree that. I hate to
say that because I want to create an excitement, for
lack of a better way of putting it around the
election when it comes but I think if Lamont chooses
to run, he'll win. I don't think great I don't
think great change is coming. And I think you're right
too that we haven't bottomed out in some ways. We
have though, and but it can always get worse and

(03:32):
it's going.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
To Listen, when we passed Think Impacts nineteen ninety one,
what was the consequence of it the people who voted
for that. And I made that statement back then when
I was a very young man, that the state is
going to go downhill because of that. It was a
license to spend. And this state is ruined because of
the income tax and because of the policies of the
majority party, which is the Democrats that've done everything from

(03:55):
the school system to law enforcement to the quality of life.
At the end of the day, the only choice you
have is to move out. And I feel the same
way I want to hear because of certain family members.
Other than that, unless you're making a well above a
six figure salary, every time the legislature's in session, they
are putting the screws to you and.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
I you're just nailing it. There's no way to even
follow up what you're saying.
