Letterman Tapes Sandler At Mohegan

I wanted to tell y'all for those of you who
might care. Yesterday I was watching, not that I make
a habit of it, but I decided to watch my
next guest Needs No Introduction, which is David Letterman's new
show on Netflix. Now I'm not a Letterman fan. I
still don't get it. I just I didn't get it

(00:21):
as a kid. I don't get it now. He ruins
people on a good role with He's a very weird
dry since here, you know, I know he was a groundbreaker.
I mean I came up. I remember him daytime television.
But that's neither here nor there. The guest was Adam Sandler.
It was The Sandman, and so I said, oh, I
want to watch that, if only because I'm looking forward

to Sandler's new movie, which comes out this weekend with
George Clooney called j Kelly Looks really good. Noah boumback
is at the Helm. I'm a big fan of his IYKYK.
Much to my surprise, it was filmed. This episode was
filmed at Mohegan Sun. Yeah, he loves playing there. He's
always in Connecticut. My daughter, my daughter and I ate

the other morning at the Guildford diner. There was no
reason for us to either be in Guildford or at
that diner. But it is a banging diner. Uh. And
we were looking on and jokingly like I look over
and I go, uh oh, because it was the wall
with all the head shots like signed there post with
the chef, and I'm like, oh, they sat me here
for a reason, you know. I do my routine to

maker laugh and she goes says that Adam Sandler. It's like,
why would Adam Sandler have ever been at the Guildford diner? Well, yeah,
he was born and raised in New Hampshire. Yeah, And
that came up a lot in the special because I
don't think I would have known that otherwise. I don't
think I knew he was a New Hampshire guy. I
don't think I knew that. I thought it was Massa Chusetts. Personally.
All he talked about was growing up in New Hampshire.

(01:48):
There have long there have been rumblings in Hollywood for
many years now that he is a quiet conservative Adam Sandler.
Oh Yeah, yeah, a New hamp a New Hampshire upbringing
Woodland itself to that. The guy. He tells such touching
stories about his father. But man, we were in the
bowels of mohegan Son for the majority of this episode,

(02:11):
and I know them well. Mohegan Son does shoot so well,
you know what I mean, like as a backdrop, and
just even when you're downstairs and they're rolling care they
were following, you know, they had the handheld following letterman
with Adam Sandler, and like I say, in the bowels
of mohegan Son. But they not only are their walls covered,

(02:34):
the logos everywhere, the mohegan logos everywhere looks picture perfect everywhere,
but they were smart enough to they have all their
star everybody who's performed there sign the walls and then
it's like they there's a gene to all of it.
So it just shoots so well because there's just these
rows of autographed walls. And went into his dressing room,

(02:55):
they popped in on David Spade, who was opening for him.
A lot of people listen to this, so you probably
went to see him. He even referenced the last time
I played here was with Norm McDonald, So I was
at that Norm McDonald show. I had brought my son,
who is a huge Sandler fan. These kids are and
the show is filthy. It was legit. It wasn't And

(03:17):
it's not that it wasn't family, but I mean it
wasn't really a family show. He could get very sent
man only pulls out his guitar. He's very entertaining. He's
just such a lovable guy, hard on his sleeve kind
of guy. I envy him and in a whole lot
of ways. I remember in this episode yesterday, he was

(03:38):
saying how David Letterman said, did you always know? And
he goes, no, you know, I remember when we start
getting asked what do you want to do? What is
your career? You know how when we were kids, you
would have to fill out like were you going to
major in? All the time you were being asked what
you were going to major in or pursue and a

lot of us didn't have answer. I always did. Sandler's like,
I got sidvid. So my brother says, just put actor.
I was an actor, you know. So David Letterman and
I've heard this before, it was just like, so your
brother just decided for He's like, yeah, you know, my
my brother said put down actor, and I knew what
could be funny. He's like, so, you know it started

(04:23):
down there. He goes, oh, yeah, and then I remember
he said, I sang a song at my sister's wedding.
He goes, I actually got on stage. They must be
considerably younger because he was a teenager. There must be
a big age difference between him and his sister. He goes,
and I and I sang, You're sixteen ringo star. You

(04:45):
know now, I'm really hooked right now because right Mohegan Son,
I can't wait for this movie Jay Kelly, and I'm thinking, yeah,
I sang at my sister's wedding. I was a teenager too,
I asked the band, I asked, but I wrote an
original song. You know, got a lot of laughs for it.
But that's interesting. And David Letterman's like, wow, you were

(05:06):
a teenager and you got on stage and sang in
front of you know, two hundred and fifty guests. Same
deal here at the New Haven Club and except again
an original memory. He goes, yeah, and I'll never forget.
He goes. When I got home that night, my father
said to me, hey, I was terrific. And I remember
thinking Geane Dan thought that was terrific and that really

meant a lot to him, and he was like, plus
I liked how it felt being up there, an interesting
thing to take note of. And I sat there and
I noted, h My father was at the bar afterwards,
and I go, did you check that out? That? And
his review was you are an imbecile. You know you

(05:52):
can't help. But I cracked up and I had a
drink with my man. But I don't know, maybe a
terrific would have gone a long way, Maybe maybe things
would have played out differently. So then I put it
on pause. I cried for a couple of minutes, debated
another mental health day, and finished the episode. I check

(06:12):
it out though, if you'd like to see mohegan Son
in all its glory. It's my next guest needs no introduction.
David Letterman series. I think it's a couple of seasons
deep in. This most recent episode is Adam Saler and
it's filmed on location at mohegan Son. It's very cool
and for anybody who has Netflix, I do. I encourage
you this weekend to check out movies called J Kelly

and Prediction. Here. Sandler will be OSCAR nominated for this film,
and I believe it'll be best supporting and I believe
he's got a damn good shot,
