The man who killed a Connecticut a visiting nurse at
a halfway house pleaded guilty to murder. He was sentenced
Friday to fifty years in prison, and a case that
has quote unquote reignited calls for better protections for home
healthcare workers across the country. To be sure, this sixty

three year old woman, sixty three, the way they found her,
what he did to her, the way he took her out,
A sixty three year old woman. He's just forty now,
so this is only twenty twenty. I mean he was
in his late thirties. She was a nurse for thirty
six years. She had gone to the halfway house. I
don't even know. Halfway houses frustrate the hell out of me.

I mean, that's where the Cheshire home. That's where those
two scumbags hatched their little plan. Nothing good happens at
halfway houses. There's no transition back to society taking place there.
We fail on most Every front house was in Willhelmantick.
He was living under electronic monitoring because he was convicted

of sexual assault. He was on probation for stabbing and
sexually assaulting another woman in two thousand and six. So
here we go, yeah, this is this is who we
want to get back out on the streets. She had
gone to those to administer medication to him. He had
served fourteen years in prison for that two thousand and
six attack. This woman got reported missing by her daughter.

Police responded. They went to the halfway house. They arrested
him as he was exiting the rear of the house.
How how was he exiting? They found her dead in
the basement, naked except for her socks. This is what
we fight to put back on the streets, this guy. Now,
they say we want better protections, we want better this,

we want better that. I pose this question to you,
as crazy as this is going to sound, Say we
were throwing a stag getting married. We were throwing a
stag at a house, a little entertainment coming, that little
entertainment shows up, she show up alone or does she
show up with a big boy to make a ride there?
And nobody's going to be stupid. But we can't do

that with visiting nurses at halfway houses because that would
cost money. That's the first thing I thought of. I
know it's a crazy one, it's a leap, but we do.

We don't send women into rooms with a bunch of
raucous men who are going to dance for them alone,
but we send them into rooms where men who are
convicted of sexual assault, they are having done time for
sexual and they're in their sixties.

She drove their loan in her used car. This is
the way she went out. These guys are failing this
this state in every way that matters. But it led
to a new law aimed at improving safety for home
healthcare workers buddy systems. So what does that mean The
