Speaker 1 (00:00):
For six years, costUS Diamantis had a lot of influence
over school construction projects all over the state of Connecticut.
Starting today, he's on trial here in Bridgeport, accused of
taking bribes from various construction related companies. From twenty fifteen
to twenty twenty one, Diamantes was a deputy secretary of
the Governor's Budget Office, as well as the head of
the Office of School Construction Grants and Review. He was

(00:23):
indicted on twenty two counts in an indictment that alleges,
starting in twenty eighteen, he took multiple bribes from contractors
who got hired for school construction projects. One of them
allegedly even gave his daughter a job. Charges include extortion, bribery,
conspiracy to commit extortion, conspiracy to commit bribery, and fourteen
counts of making a false statement. Diamantes resigned from both

(00:45):
his state positions four years ago. He has pled not
guilty to all charges, and he hired Norm Pattis as
his attorney. You may remember Pattis as the attorney for
Potus Dulos and Alex Jones. He is known to push boundaries,
and most recently he added Governor ned Lae to his
list of witnesses he might call. Lamont's office told us
last week that the governor had not received a subpoena

(01:06):
we expected. It's kind of take prosecutors a couple of
weeks to lay out their case and then Pattis will
begin his defense, so this whole thing could take a while.
Testimony is set to begin starting at nine fifteen this morning.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I miss Norm just hearing him say Norm. I don't
miss the death threats that I got for having him
on every week, but I missed his regular spot. And
it's peaceful, yes, dare I say his peaceful presence, the
wisdom that he would give to me a you know,
on a personal level, we certainly but butt heads over

(01:40):
a lot of the people that he was able to
stand alongside and defend. You know, I was able to
do it when you would ask him such questions as
to why he believed so strongly in the uphill battle,
et cetera, et cetera. I miss my man talk about
off the grid. I don't even see him on social media.
Happened to the stand up comedy late in life chapter

(02:03):
There no disrespectful. My man was getting really into stand
up comedy and pursuing that he just something rerouted him.
I think maybe he was doing a little bit too much,
but that didn't prevent him from taking on the Damontes case.
Now this is Lamont's former state deputy budget director. Lamont's

(02:24):
hands are all sorts of dirty here, and yet it's
still he may get called I may call him a
may How is he not already subpoened? How is he
already not on the docket to testify? For lack of
a better word, I don't know if I'm putting it correctly.
I know he was asked this weekend somebody managed to

(02:46):
get a microphone in front of him, right before somebody
else was getting a slice of pizza right in front
of him, and say what about the d'amontes trial, And
he said.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I'm ready if and when they need me. I'm ready
when they need me. I don't know what you're waiting on.
These school construction projects, more often than not, are just
nothing but a money grab. Unnecessary money could go to
so many other places. This Diamontes, who's he's sixty nine now,

(03:21):
they're like for sixty His sixties were just loaded with
him living large, chomping on cigars, eating prime ribs, swilling,
washing it down with bourbon, taking bids, living large and lamont.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
He can play naive. What did he do jumping Jehosa fats.
That's a little that's a little seed, isn't it. He
knows he's got his hands are just as dirty as
this guy from two thousand, goes all the way back
to twenty fifteen. I forgot. He was deputy Secretary of
the Governor's Budget Office. Knows how to fudge the numbers,

(04:02):
move the numbers around. Indicted on twenty two counts.
