Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott. Do we have you, buddy? Yeah? How are you
welcome to the show?
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Hey, yeah, thank you for having me. How do I
sound here?
Speaker 1 (00:06):
You sound great, my man, And I love Ginny and Georgia.
I don't wait in a long time for the show
to return.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah. Man, A lot of people they've been letting me
know on Instagram and let me know on all social media.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Is that.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, it's taken a little while and they're getting a
little impatient, but it's here now. Today is the day,
and I'm so excited for everybody out there who loves
the show to finally catch season three. Man, is this
one a wild ride?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah, it's got to be interesting for you coming from
something like Friday Night Lights. I mean that was, you know,
a prime regular season. It was, you know, a NBC
September through May and then back in the fall, and
now you're doing something this great show on Netflix which
could be three four years between seasons. I had to
(00:54):
be reminded that my girl, she got arrested. I love her.
I tweeted out Tabria to Howary all the time, and
she gives me likes and I like fanboy. I get
all excited that she likes my tweets.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Man, she is incredible. Our whole cast is incredible, really,
but yeah, man, at the end of season three, I
mean at the end of season two, the arrest at
the wedding. I know, Ginny and Georgia. One thing they
do better than almost every show out there is this
little mini cliffhangers all season long and then hit you
with a real big one at the end of the year.
And season three is going to be no different. We're
(01:28):
picking up the pieces after her arrest at our wedding,
and I've been describing this season as a reckoning for
all of our characters. They all have a lot of
things to answer for, and Brian's character, Georgia has the
most of all.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
She I think she's just fantastic. Antonia obviously is fantastic too.
You might I watched the show with my daughter and
we were really you probably get this a lot. We
were really suspicious of it. You were kind of too
good to be true. It's like this dude's going to
be dirty. We were waiting for some on you. You're
like the best thing to happen.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
You know. The thing is is, I've heard from a
lot of fans, where's Paul's dark side. It's Paul gonna
make it. They just want Everything on the show is
so messy, and Paul seems to have it together in
a different way than most of the characters on our show.
But season three you really start to see some cracks
up here in the you know, kind of flawless facade
(02:27):
of Paul Randolph. You know, the thing is is when
you're a local politician, you have to keep it together.
You know, he's very thoughtful, he's very political in the
way that he maneuvers. But the first person to be
able to get past that wall was really Georgia. So
we got to see like the real kind of golden
heart of Paul when everybody expected him to be something else.
(02:48):
But how does he rebound? Now? What kind of resilience
can he show after his career is put on the
line because his wife decided to do something that maybe
she shouldn't done and make a man's life in season two,
so you know, we kind of look forward and try
to figure out if Paul and Georgia together as a couple,
can survive this, and if Paul can provide it politically.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
You must be fighting for it. If I were you,
I would be going to the writers and being like
I think as a couple they would make love now
after this argument, right, That's all I would be saying
every week is I think right here, Paul would take
her in his arms and kiss her long and hard.
That's all I'd be saying, top.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, that's for you and I are a little bit different.
I only wanted to serve the story, right, like, I
just wanted to deserve the story. And as much as
I absolutely love working with Brian, she is one of
the most brilliant actresses I've ever had the pleasure to
work across from. And as much as I love working
with her, you know, whatever wherever the story needs to go,
and that I leave that up to the Sarah's our
(03:51):
showrunner and our creator. They are both brilliant in their
own way too, so always unexpected, always wild, the things
that happen on this show.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I'll tell you what it's it's Emmy. I honestly think
Cowary is she's turning in Emmy stuff. I mean, you're
doing a great job too, but she's such a bombastic character.
It's Emmy stuff. There should be Emmy acknowledgment. I do
love the dynamic your character has with her son too,
and I think that that's handled really well. This show
(04:20):
has a really interesting way of having a lot of
heart and then being zany and like wait what just happened?
Navigating too totally different genres almost.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yeah, I mean I love the relationship between Paul and Austin.
I don't know my biological father personally, and I am
the kind of person that had a stepfather step in
and become my dad, and my best friend stood next
to me at my wedding as my best man, and
so I always put a little bit of that in
the relationship between Paul and Austin. You know, Paul really
(04:52):
truly cares for these kids, and you'll hear him say
in season three like one of the hardest things for
him in this entire situation is how much he loves
the kids, and they really get that across. Yeah, writers
are so brilliant and all that stuff, And I completely
agree with you, emmy level stuff coming from Brian Howie
and Tony Gentry. So if you want to leave there
for your consideration campaign, I'm right here with you, man.
(05:15):
Let's march in there together.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah, and you're right to include Antonio too. I mean,
you're you're doing a great job, but you're you know,
you're the anchor, that right, And we'll see in season
three and I can't wait to start watching today. But
you know you're you're the anchors, not like you're not
doing a fantastic job, but you're almost a heart of
the show, I would say. And Scott Porter, it's a
great gig. Man, you got a hell of a resume.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Oh thanks, man. No, I see Paul as a window
for the normal person into the craziness of the Miller household.
So I just try to be the best window I
can see past me see the amazing stuff inside here.
Good way to put it, and I just try to
ground it just a little bit. But thank you so
much for having me, man. Yeah, it's been quite a
journey to get here. This is the largest project I've
(06:00):
ever been a part of as far as fans and
the amount of people watching. And we never thought it
would be this show when we started. We don't have
a big budget. We're a crazy idea from the mind
of a first time creator, and yet somehow it connects
with so many people. And I love the fact that
you watch with your daughter. Man, that is so cool. Yeah,
(06:22):
that is one of the coolest things I've heard on
this whole tour, so I appreciate you, man oh.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I love it.
