Speaker 1 (00:00):
Minnesota. Goodbye.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It is the last one before the holidays are well
before Thanksgiving us upon us, so it's the last one
until we are back on December first. So thank you
for being here. But just a quick update. I've got
a bunch of people who reserve their spot for the
live podcast on December sixth going to come up before
you know it. I have not gotten back to anybody yet,
but assume that if you wrote in, you're in. But

(00:25):
I will try to get everybody who sent will get
a confirmation email that says, yes, you're good to go.
So that will probably happen, honestly, maybe not this week,
but next week. If you're going, I haven't got a
confirmation email, you will get one, but I am not.
We just not haven't done it yet.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
So life's busy right now.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
We're busy, yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I mean I was on a road trip yesterday and
Susan was driving all the way across Nebraska and I
was calling people for Christmas wish and so we're working
even when we're driving. So here comes the first email
from Nicole, Gobble Gobbled, Dave and Jenny and Vonant. I
was listening yesterday and the regular show Vaunt was talking
about how Jersey is the only state that you don't
pump your own gas. I wanted to tell him there

(01:09):
is still a gas station on the outskirts of Hayfield,
Minnesota that pumps your gas for you.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
When I first saw that, I was like, wait, what's
going on here? Are you flirting with me? What I
thought is neat is that every Wednesday, the old farmers
in the area you get together in this small gas
station and talk. So it's not just a Jersey thing.
I love that one.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
That's cute.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
On a different note, you were talking about Costco stores.
Fun fact about the Costco and Egan. I'm the reason
there are stop signs in their parking lot because I
got ran over by an suv and broke seven bones in.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
My right foot.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
I now have seven screws in one plate in my
foot and wasn't able to walk for ten weeks. So
please take your time, I'm looking at you, Jenny, okay,
and don't drive crazy in their parking lot.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
I only drive crazy in the morning getting here, all right,
That's only time. Otherwise I'm pretty good, especially in parking lots.
I'm not trying to get hidden parking lot or hit someone.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
No.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I remember when I was a new driver, sixteen years old,
We're at the mall in Colorado Springs and the mall
parking lot was not very full. So I cut across perpendicular,
multiple multiple rows of parking lot, h parking aisles, you
know what I mean. Oh, I didn't go up and
down the aisle. I cut across, and my mom was like, no, no, no,
don't do that. You could get cut off or hit somebody,

(02:26):
and I'd never thought about that.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
So yeah, but it's a wide open parking lot, though, like,
is it really that bad?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
It was mostly wide open, but there was still the
and I never forgot that. That was one thing that
I learned from my mom driving that I've just always remembered.
So wh Nicole goes on to say, I got a
couple of questions. If you guys need something to talk about. Yes,
have you ever gotten seriously injured at work? Never seriously
knock on wood. I did cut myself. We used to

(02:54):
cut up tape, recording tape with a razor blade, and
I reached up on a shelf and to reach for
the tape, and I scashed my finger open on a
razor blade that was sitting up the jenny.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
No.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Never for me, probably outside of like a paper cut. No,
not out of work.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
I've injured myself. I am injury prone, we know that,
but not at work.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
But never at work. Would you give a tip to
the person that brings out your online order from Target, Walmart,
et cetera. If so, how much? All this full disclosure,
I've never done that before. I've never done the online
and then park, but I probably I probably would not.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
No, I don't.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
I think that's one thing that we're not having to
tip with yet.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe someone can correct me.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
But I've only ever done like a Target pick up
once in my life, and I definitely didn't tip for that,
So I don't think.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Okay, I would.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Friend of mine works at I want to say, LUNs
and buyers, and they do it just for some extra money.
They are the person who bags your groceries and takes
them out to the car, and they're supposed to not
accept tips. But she's says a lot of people offer
a tip and she takes it because it's like, you
know what, they're gonna throw me a couple of bucks.

(04:05):
I'm not gonna say no, so and I probably would
offer because it's just like I don't know that that
just seemed me.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
I think I would so, you know, I worked at
Pigley Wiggley growing up, and we if we were begging groceries,
we had to ask every single person, no matter if
they were like twenty years old or seventy years old,
if they needed help with their groceries to their car.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
And a lot of the older people did take you
up on that offer.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
But that was like kind of a culture shock when
I came to Minnesota and people don't even like bag
your groceries at half of the stores around here, whereas
like there's baggers at the groceries stores in my hometown.
And then I was always like helping people with their
groceries on top of it, and you got to do
everything on your own at like the local cub.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Well, I think, yeah you do, and I don't mind.
That used to be a thing when I was a kid.
You would be a bagger. I'm a friend of mine
used to work at the Air Force base at the
commissary and you get a job as like a bagger,
and that's what you would do. You would bag the
groceries and wheel them out to the car and you'd
get like back then, it was like, you know, maybe
a buck if you were lucky, but that was the
total thing. Next question from Nicole says, what is the

(05:08):
first food item on your Thanksgiving plate?

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Turkey?

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Turkey's my favorite and I love it. It's not something
i'd want to have regularly, but I definitely relish the
turkey smothered in gravy.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
I would say the first thing that's on my plate
is whatever dishes in front of me at the dinner table. Like,
you know, I don't think I have anything in particular.
It's just how the dinner table gets set up and
then you start passing everything around.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
That's how we do it.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Okay, Yeah, I kind of agree with that one. Yeah,
it's like whatever happens to be there. But as far
as first, like, I think I was looking at it
as like, what's your favorite?

Speaker 3 (05:41):
So okay, yeah, mine would be mashed potatoes.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Then all right, let's look and see here there are
a bunch of people who are asking to be part
of the live podcast. So I'm going to just file
those and get to the next one. Here we go.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Love the show. Sorry, it make it the live.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Recording, but I'll be doing my annual donation to Christmas Wish,
Thank you very much. Question, if you can invite two
people of the same gender to a dinner party, who
would you pick? My choice for two women, Amy Polder
and Tina Tina Fey, the would be it would be
super fun. For two guys. I go with Matthew McConaughey
and Woody Harrelson. They seem to be entertaining. Love to

(06:22):
hear your thoughts on this hypothetical. Have a good one
from Kyle. Wow, that would take some thinking. I don't know,
Jenny come behind.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
I'll go for women just because I mean, I think
it's a go to answer. But I absolutely would love
to just meet Taylor Swift because I think she is
like a crazy businesswoman that I would love to pick
her brain, which would be so annoying she would not
want to do that at a dinner And then also Jennifer.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Oh oh burn, sorry, busy hope.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Bernie is here in Colorado with me and I hear
a rattling in the litter box and Bernie is very
gingerly lifting a cat poop out of the litter box.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Oh gosh, it is on the floor, is.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Doing pick up duty? Thank you very much? Oh say,
you're disgusting?

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Why why? Why? Oh?

Speaker 4 (07:07):
Okay, so you were saying Taylor Swift and then Jennifer
Lawrence for women and for men, I would do, Oh,
my gosh, what's his name?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Why can't I think of his name?

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Stephen Bartlett. He's my favorite podcast host. I think he
is so fucking brilliant. So I would love to be
surrounded by someone like him. And then I feel like
I want someone fun as well and funny, so maybe
I go with like, why am I thinking Seth Rogan?
That's not who I want, But I want someone funny
like that, So you go to.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Down Hey, you want somebody funny? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:35):
For women, I would pick they host the Take to
the Sky podcast.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
It's two women.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
They do a podcast all about air disasters, and they're
very charming and they're funny and they're down to earth
and they're they're not famous famous, they're just well known
from their podcast. So I would have them for two women.
For guys, probably John Elway and.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Why not because.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
I love the Broncos.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
I'd be able to talk about the Broncos and the
games and all the things and things like that, and
then Tom Brady. I would probably choose Tom Brady.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Surprise you didn't choose like a radio person that you admire, Okay.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
I would then choose Rick D's and Bobby Bones.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Here you go.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
So and that's a fun one. Thank you, Kyle. Appreciate
that one. Next one, I got a CLICKI clickie here.
It's a long one, so I'm gonna try it and
see how it goes. Don't say my name. I wanted
to respond to the email that came in a few
days ago about the person who was upset their brother
in law and his wife have not come to see

(08:38):
their new house after six months. She noted that it
seemed to add to a narrative of their lives being
seen less important or exciting than the in laws who
have kids. I want to play devil's advocate. I agree
that in six months the brother in law and his
family should have gone.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
That's a long time.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
On the flip side of feeling upset that the family
with kids gets more attention, that could be for a
number of reasons for the house visit is their house
kid friendly? I know I won't bring my toddler to
family members' homes as often if they have expensive stuff
that that my kids might break. I got to watch him,
and being telling a toddler no at somebody else's house
for hours on end is exhausting. Regarding the family, not

(09:18):
celebrating them as much as the brother with the kids,
the brother in law with kids may simply be inviting
his family and friends to join more events with the
kids than the other couple. My brother in law and
his girlfriend don't have kids, and there seems to be
a similar perception that my husband and I get more
family attention because.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
We have a kid.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Some of it's because I reach out, I send pictures,
I visit, I have them over.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
The list goes on.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Of course, our family loves to see our son, but
that was also built on years of building that close
relationship even before having kids.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Sorry it was long.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
I just experienced some of the kids, no family, of
the kids, no kids family dynamic and wanted to share
my experience. You guys are the best, and I think
that might be true. I think sometimes, Ma, maybe you're
just not as easy or fun to hang with. And
maybe it's as simple as that, and that doesn't mean
you're a bad person. Maybe you're a little bit more
sedate or quiet, or I mean, there are people in

(10:12):
my family that are really easy to talk to, Like Donna,
my sister, that bitch talks NonStop about nothing. So yeah, right,
so she's pretty easy to hang out with. My sister
Vivian is easy to hang out with. But I want,
I'm not going to say the people in my family
that are like a little bit more, you know, not

(10:33):
easy to hang out.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
With, because they're wonderful people.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
They're just like a little more quiet, that's okay, you know,
like Carson, Carson doesn't listen to the podcast. He's not
always easy to hang out with because he's quiet, but
we've become accustomed to that so we don't have to
chatter constantly. And I love to hang out with him
just to like be around him, you know what I mean,
even though it's like what'd you do?

Speaker 1 (10:56):
What? How is France good? Well? You were on that
big David Kushner tour.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
I mean that was like, I mean, what was the
most exciting part? I don't know the whole thing, I guess,
I mean, you know somebody like that. Yeah, and he's
better than he used to be because he's realized that
to him move smoothly through the adult world. You've got
to be able to make conversation, but he knows he
gets a pass around me. It's kind of like, you know,

(11:23):
you don't have to take a shower on the weekend
because you know that nobody is judging you. You don't
have to be super conversational around your dad because you
know that he's gonna love you no matter what.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Yeah, here's a bold statement for me as I always
was trying to get internships in college, but I also
worked as a server and a host at a restaurant
for very, very many years, and I truly think that
learning like just personality and like personal skills through that
job has helped me a little bit more in my
career than some of the internships I had.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
So if you're struggling to get an internship, maybe just get.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
A job at a restaurant and learn how to talk
to people more, because that is going to be we
have very important quality in your career.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
You know what, That's some really good advice. I was
just like Carson, ridiculously shy and stupidly quiet, and then
I got on the radio and I learned to talk
in any situation and I can talk to strangers, I
can talk to authority figures. I can talk to people
that I just met and I just have learned.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
You know.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Can you imagine a guy somebody on the radio who's shy.
It's like, uh huh, yeah, yeah, Well, how was your weekend?
It was pretty good? Yeah, I was good.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Well what was the highlight of your weekend? God? You know,
I guess I don't really have one. Jesus Christ, are
you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (12:41):
So? All right, that's gonna wrap it up for the
Minnesota goodbye. If you want to be part of the
Live podcast again, send an email to Ryan Show at
KTWB dot com that says live podcast and tell us
whether you want one ticket or two tickets, and we
