(00:00):
Good morning. It's the Minnesota GoodbyeJenny and Drake here again. We got
one two days left of Drake andI on the Minnesota Goodbye this week.
Well you stay on it. Wellyeah, but I mean just like you
and I yea yeah, I watchyou guys from a distance as you do
it. Oh yeah, creeper,I'm just kidding. Okay. This one
comes from Sessa. She says, good morning, guys. I found the
(00:20):
real solution to the people wanting tolisten to older podcast episodes. There's a
website called podchaser dot com. Ifyou sort by oldest, you can access
episodes as early as nine eleven twentyseventeen the Minnesota Goodbye podcast go back to
the very first episode. Hope thishelps anyone who has been wishing to listen
to more than other podcasting apps willallow. I just started an overnight stocking
(00:42):
job at my local grocery store,so I'm happy to find these since I've
been caught up for so long butonly started listening to you guys over the
summer. Can't wait to hear someof Jenny's crazy stories and more of Steve
O's since Apple podcast barely has anySTEVEO. Episodes Sally Tu Laine for Radios
unavailable, and I'm so upset becauseevery podcasting app I've tried will not play
a single episode. Love you guys. Yeah, I don't know what happened
to mine in Tina's podcast to Laingfor Radio, like it was removed.
(01:07):
We uploaded it through a certain systemthat we used to use, and now
they like don't use that system anymore. So now like none of our podcast
episodes are up anymore. Bummer. It wasn't taken off as far as I
know. It wasn't taken off becauseTina wasn't part of the company anymore.
It was just like because of systemsswitching and stuff like that. So anyway,
so that's a way to final episodespodchaser dot com that comes from Sesna.
(01:32):
All right. Next up, itsays, hey, je Jenny and
Drake. You mentioned that you werelow on email, so I figured I
would write in and ask Drake abouthis aspirations. So we don't hear about
him as much, and we knowJenny is going to crush it with Jenny's
the Morning to do someday. Drake, what are your long term career goals?
Do you want to stay in radioor do something more behind the scenes,
or do you think you will leaveradio one day? That is,
(01:53):
honestly, that is such a goodquestion. I don't know. I'm very,
very, very motivated when it comesto social media, so I know
I'm going to be doing something withsocial media. And it just so happens
that radio and social media, likethey really combine, yep, very well
together. And that's why I thinkI'm so attracted to it, because I
(02:13):
can do a lot of the thingsthat I want to do, like video
editing and you know, having apersonality on social media, and I can
tie all that in with like radio. And since I've done radio for so
long, it's like basically almost allI've known is radio and social media.
So I don't see myself going anywheresoon. Yeah, you know, maybe
(02:36):
down the road, I figure Iwant to do something else in social media
maybe, but for right now,I'm still very content where I'm at.
So al right, I love that, Okay, and then she has another
question. Do you want kids?Do you want to get married someday?
Do you want to stay in theMidwest for the rest of your life?
Mm? Really good question. Ithink I do eventually want kids at some
(02:57):
point. Not for a while thoughI'm still very young. I don't even
really want to even think about kids. But I think down the road,
once I find someone that I genuinelylike a soulmate, I think, yeah,
I definitely want to have kids.I don't know if I'm going to
be staying in the Midwest. Mydream is actually have like a beach house
in Hawaii. That's like my dreambecause I love the ocean, so I
(03:19):
have not no I mean, butyou can not be to Hawaiian. Probably
imagine that you love living there.Oh yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah,
so beach house. I love thebeach. I love the ocean so
much, so I think eventually that'sprobably gonna be one of my end goals
is to have something like that.Getting married absolutely at some point. I
don't think I'm gonna make it likea big deal like I'm gonna be I'm
(03:40):
one of those people I just wantprobably just want to have like a low
key wedding, you know, familybe there, maybe some like close friends,
but that's that's pretty much it.So I love it well. That
all comes from Sydney. She says, these are the things that people want
to know cheers. Thank you,Sidney. I hope, I hope I
indulged you a little bit. Allright, thanks Sydney. All right.
Next it says, hello, pleasedon't say my name. I'm having a
(04:03):
dilemma. But being that I'm overdramatic, I'm probably making a big deal
out of nothing. So I havea few trips planned out in a couple
months, and my trips are spreadout, for example, one trips in
March, one in May, onein June. So at the end of
it all, I'll have a littleover one day of vacation left. Then
I'll have to save up again.I get ten vacation days a year,
(04:24):
but the thought of having to rebuildmy vacation hours again scares me. I'm
the type of person that likes tosave up, i e. Money,
vacation time, draw for cards.I'm probably tripping over nothing, but I
know I'll have fun on my vacations. I just like to have cushion in
for just in case situations. Asfor how I am going to afford all
of my vacation, that's another topiclol. Aka girl math things. So
(04:46):
I totally feel you on this onebecause that it sort of happened to me
last year, but it didn't.I mean, I have more than ten
vacation days, but I had asnowboarding trip planned and then a bachelorette party
I had to go to, andit all was like towards the beginning of
the year. And then same thinghappened again this year, where I had
a bachelrette party and now I havea snowboarding trip coming up in a like
(05:08):
less than a month, and soI was like stressed about like using all
this vacation up. And then likelast year, suddenly I did have a
lot of vacation left, and Ishoehorned random things and not random. I
mean we went to Tahiti, butlike that wasn't really the plan, Like
we weren't planning on doing a triplike that. It just was like a
(05:28):
last minute trying to find something thatwas like unique, something that was out
of the country and then not superexpensive, and that was one of the
cheaper flights that we could find. And so I waited too long to use
vacation and that's how that vacation happened. So I would say for you,
I totally get it, because nowyou're using up all your vacation halfway through
(05:48):
the year aka June. It soundslike and then you maybe have a day
left. I think if those werelike things that you planned and they worked
out well with your schedule, justgo with it. I don't know,
there's no solution for you. Ican't be like, well, just get
more vacation days. It's like nothow jobs work. So I don't really
want to hand out that much vacation. I think think about it that way,
(06:11):
that you did plan these vacations, you're gonna get them in. Yeah,
something might come up in the laterhalf of the year that you're like,
oh, I don't have vacation daysfor this, but you'll figure it
out, hopefully, Like obviously emergenciesthat happen. Usually people's jobs allow you
to like work around that. Sobut I know, like for mental health
reasons, people like to spread outtheir vacations more. And that's like how
(06:33):
I try to plan my vacations usuallyas like okay, like so I've got
this trip coming up in March,I'm definitely probably not going to take another
vacation for a few months, youknow what. I you know what I
found out recently, but is thatpeople in Europe like they get when even
like when their job entry level,Like right when you get to a new
(06:54):
job, most of everybody has aminimum of like thirty days vacation. Yeah,
it's called a holiday and they goon holiday. They oh yeah.
Europe is very different. America iswork, work, work, enjoy your
life a little bit on the side, work work work, Yeah, that
is America, and Europe is waymore laid back. They are chiller.
(07:15):
I think, like times that theystart working are later, they have longer
lunches, they take smoke breaks likemore often because cigarettes are still a big
thing over there. It's a verydifferent vibe and not obviously every country is
different, so I know, likeyou might email us and be like,
no, Jenny, that's not whatthey do in Germany. They just drink
all day. But it's a verydifferent culture. And I mean I've been
(07:39):
on the side of TikTok before wherepeople have moved from America to Europe and
they're not making as much money, but they also don't need to make as
much money to live there and dothings that are enjoyable. So and it's
just like not as much of ahustle culture. There's definitely still a hustle
culture. I'm sure throughout Europe, but it's just in general, it's not
(07:59):
as big as what it is inAmerica. But yeah, it's interesting.
I wish we could all get somemore vacation days. But then there's people
who have unlimited PTO and then theydon't even like take their Why they don't
even like take vacation. Yeah,my sister is unlimited PTO and I'm like,
girl, I'd be taking like twoweeks off. Yeah, girl a
(08:22):
same same. Okay, this emailcalling out an email that we had I
believe yesterday. It says, Okay, I had to write it because it
bugged me. Sorry, Stephanie. But it does say under in the red
Hot Chili pepper song. Grew upsinging that song with my dad. Is
that weird and it's kind it's kindof hard to hear, but they definitely
do. Here's the lyrics, soit says, is where I drew some
(08:45):
blood under their bridge downtown. Icould not get enough under the bridge downtown,
forgot about my love under the bridgedowntown. I gave my life away.
Yeah yeah, yeah, Okay,I'm not singing it obviously according to
how the song goes, but yes, Hannah has found the lyrics. And
they you say under in that song, so if you know what we're talking
about. Stephanie had brought up howthe red hat Chili pepper song doesn't have
(09:07):
under in it and under the bridge, but now Hannah is saying that it
does, so I still wouldn't havegotten it even Yeah, yeah for a
lyric shuffle. Here's another one thatit's the same. It's the same one.
Jamie also wrote in saying the exactsame thing. So Jamie, thank
you also for calling out. Welove what people call out mistakes, all
(09:31):
right, usually gets us that arewrong. But unfortunately, Stephanie, this
time you were a little wrong.See. Sometimes some like listeners will call
something out that I'll like I saidlike the next day or even like a
few hours after I said it,and I won't even remember recall saying it,
And I'm like, damn, youguys, pay attention. Yeah,
(09:52):
it's great. All right. Thiscomes from Cassie and it says, hi,
morning. I hope this email findsyou all right. Oh. I
became a regular listener after one familytherapy session was just too good to turn
off. After one family therapy sessionwas just too good to turn off,
(10:13):
I logged in an iHeart and haven'tlooked back since. Okay, this may
be a question for the morning showto invite some good text or conversation,
or maybe just for the podcast.Either way, I'd love to get your
thoughts and or conversation going regarding weddings, travel and lodging and how folks in
relationships go about paying for it.When you and your partner are invited to
wedding of your friend or families moreyour friend than theirs, how do you
(10:35):
cover the finances ie, hotel, gift, et cetera. Do you split
it, do you cover it?Do you cover most but they take care
of uber or something else along theway. What if it's a destination wedding.
What if it's a destination wedding foryour friend who grew up with you,
but they've only met Maybe once myboyfriend and I were invited to a
destination wedding of an old friend, but once very close friend, and it
(10:56):
would be a wonderful vacation for theboth of us. But I don't know
if I should fork out the moneyto cover both of us. But I
also think it's ridiculous for him tohave to pay for any of it when
he doesn't know the bride and groomhardly at all. Any and all thoughts
are welcomed. Thank you so much. That's an interesting question. So we
had e White's wedding back in whatSeptember I think it was, and so
(11:18):
we had to stay up and well, I stayed up in Duluth. I
think you drove home because you're crazy. And I paid for the hotel for
Andrew and I because they felt likethat was only fair, like we were
out of town, like staying outof town. I wasn't going to make
him pay for that. And thenI like, if it's my friend,
I cover a present for someone,and then if it's Andrew's friend, Andrew
(11:39):
covers a present for that person.Like That's how we kind of handle gifts
and stuff like that. As faras destination weddings go, I've only been
invited to one that is actually comingup this November. I think that is
going to be in Mexico and it'sfor my good friend. And Andrew obviously
is invited as well, and wediscuss like potentially going, but when it
(12:01):
comes down to it, I don'tknow that we will because just vacation time
wise, all that stuff, likeand I've already done a bachelor party this
year, Like, I don't knowif I really want to do a destination
wedding. Like I love my friend, but she totally understands, like not
a lot of people are going tobe making the wedding. She gets that,
and so I fully assumed Andrew wouldbe paying his way there if we
(12:24):
did decide to go, though,I was not going to be covering his
flight, the hotel, like wewere going to be splitting everything. So
I think I get where you're comingfrom that your partner doesn't necessarily know these
people. But I just feel like, like a vacation for him too,
That's what you got to think ofit. It's very different. I feel
like going up to Duluth me coveringa hotel is one thing, but like
(12:46):
going on a trip like that,I feel like there's got to be a
little split seas and then also maybeyou just cover a little like you cover
the present, and maybe you dopay for a few more things because it
is for your friend, right,But I feel like it's fair to say,
hey, let's go on this destinationwedding. If he's into it,
then it's fair that you guys splitthe costs. Oh yeah, one hundred
(13:09):
percent. No, I'm with youon that one. You can't expect your
partner to pay, especially that amountof money. I mean you're looking at
what like two grand per person probablyright, so that'd be four grand like
the total flight and everything included,Jessie, unless you're made a money like
gir you cover your man if youwant. But like for me, I
am not paying Andrew's way to thiswedding in Mexico. I can't afford that,
(13:31):
Like we would have to split thatif we decided to go, so
and I probably wouldn't go. Ifhe decided he didn't want to go,
I probably would not go then becauseI would want it to be kind of
a trip and wedding combo thing forus. You know. One last email
to finish up the podcast for today. This one says, Hi, Jenny
and Drake, I'm watching Survivor rightnow. I think Jenny should do a
Survivor recap on the show thoughts.Oh all right? Staff writer Sarah Sarah.
(13:54):
I did watch Survivor last night. My boyfriend is super fan. He
does have a whole like fantasy doff some sort where he vote. He
like picked all these people, whichI feel like is so unfair to pick
people because he did it a couplenights ago already before it even premiered,
and he had to pick just basedoff of looking at their profiles online.
And now like after the first episodehe's like, oh, man, like
(14:16):
that person is for sure probably gonnamake it further, and I shouldn't have
voted this person out right away andall that stuff. I didn't realize.
Andrew was so into that showhoh,he loves it and he for so he
literally when COVID happened a little behindthe scenes, when COVID started to happen,
so I believe like February twenty twentyis when everything started to like really
(14:37):
come out. But then March waswhen things shut down. And he had
just had like a meeting at hisoffice and then there was all this stuff
in the news that was like everyoneneeds to like stay home and isolate and
blah blah blah, And he hada meeting and he was gonna then leave
and go off to a casting forSurvivor and addition, no way, but
it got canceled because of COVID.So there was a point where he was
(14:58):
going and oh, my God,and I told him, I was like,
baby, you should get on there, like you really really should.
The problem is that Andrew is nota performer. When a camera gets put
in his face, he can't actnatural like and I told him, I
was like, because I'll ask himto do something funny, like he'll do
something really funny and I'll get myphone out to like post it on my
(15:20):
Instagram story er and he won't doit again He's like, no, I
can't. And that's just like hispersonality. He just doesn't really love like
public speaking. He doesn't love beingon camera, and that's totally fine,
but I really thought that he wouldbe willing to get over that to be
on Survivor because he loves it somuch. So anyways, he would do
so good. I guess this willmaybe be a little bit of a spoiler
(15:43):
real quick if you have not watchedlast night's Survivor, so maybe we're going
to end the podcast with this,So if you haven't watched it in your
Survivor fan maybe turn it off atthis point. But I will say that
last night was interesting. I wasvery shocked by the team that won both
of the challenges, and I wasnot or a second shock that they got
rid of Jaalinski because he was Imean, you could tell right off the
(16:04):
bat that he was not going tobe a team player, or that he
gave up right away. I thinkTevin, if that's how you say his
name, is one of my favorites. I think he's going to go far.
I also think the girl who theywere calling like a princess or Barbie
or whatever, I think she haslike a lot of manipulation that she will
probably use to her benefit. Hername is Venus, and I don't know
(16:27):
all of the cast very well becausethey were comparing her to somebody else that
I don't know, but I thinkshe might go far. And then also
the guy who is a real estateagent and I can't think of his name.
He was on the losing team, que or Burdette or something cue maybe.
Anyways, this is probably very boringto you if you do not listen
to or watch Survivors. So that'sgoing to be a quick little wrap up.
(16:48):
There was Survivor. But Sarah, feel free to send your thoughts and
if you want to chat about itat anytime, and keep on sending your
emails. And we still have afew that we haven't gotten to, so
we'll get to all of those tomorrow. Ryan Show at KDIWB dot com.
Thank you so much for listening.Tomorrow's the last day with Jenny and Drake,
so if you are just dying toget one in with just the two
of us, to make sure yousend it by tomorrow. Please all right,
(17:11):
We will be back tomorrow with theFriday version of the Minnesota Goodbye.
