Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, look at you listening to the Minnesota Goodbye. So
awesome of you to do that. Thank you so much.
Whether you listen like first thing when it comes on,
or whether you listen like a day or two later,
thank you very much. Let's jump into the Minnesota Goodbye.
Here we go. Good morning, Jenny in the morning, Zoo, shit,
(00:22):
I forgot Dave is still here. Good morning to you too.
I guess I get a question for each of you. Dave,
when are you to start doing Crockpots Sundays again? Bonus question?
What has been your favorite one? Yeah, chicken and dumplings.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
It was so good.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
The chicken is so tender and so flavorful, and it's
easy to make because you use the Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits
and then when you've cooked for about three or four
or five hours, you put the biscuits on top and
they make a delicious biscuity dumpling kind of a thing.
Oh so good. But there's been many that I've made.
(00:56):
I've never made one that it was like, Eh, so
soon as it turns into fall, Jenny, what was your
favorite thing you did when you interned for the show
Many moons ago? Bonus question least favorite anything come to mind.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Oh man, one of my favorite things is probably and
it's not PC to this day now, but you guys
did a roast of Crisco and it was one of
the first times you guys had me come into studio
to help like video it, because you all were on
the mics, like intern John was on the mic, everyone
was on the mic. You had no extra hands. And
I remember dying laughing like you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Were brutal, brutal.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yes, it was so funny. We could never play that
audio back nowadays because it was not PC. But that
was probably one of my favorite things.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Least favorite, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I had to edit the podcast every single day, and
it's not editing of the podcast. It was the system
of like you had to it's called like normalizing and
amplifying and all these other effects that would take fucking
ten minutes per effect to do, and so it just
it was a tedious law process to edit it back
(02:02):
in the day. We have a much better system nowadays.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, there's a lot of stuff that goes on behind
the scenes that people It's not a very glorified kind
of a thing to do, but like you know, editing
when we edit War the Roses, and I say we
Bailey edits War the Roses because there's tons of ums,
an irrelevant conversation that just would make it about twice
as long that we just cut out. But you really
can't tell that it's edited.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yeah, No, I try not to. I mean sometimes it's
just a yeah, I'll go and then I just take
out half of the yes, and then one ubba kind
of just flows into the other. Uhba.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
So it's fine question for Bailey. Since you grew up
listening to the show, what have been some of your
favorite highlights? Bonus question? What has been one of your
favorite things to do now that you're a part of
the show?
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Well man, people ask me this all the time, and
it's so weird because it was like this show has
been like woven into the fabric of my life for
so long that like there's nothing that necessarily stands out as, oh,
that's my favorite thing that they did on the show.
I do know that the only reason I say good
bit is because Dave and Steve would say it back
and forth to each other, and so I started saying
(03:11):
good bit just like in my home on a regular basis,
and both me and my mom and my sister, we
all like listen to the show. It's just kind of
like a shared experience, but like a fun moment was
like going to We would always go to Amit's Apple
Farm when katwb would be there specifically, and so that
was like a family memory of katiewb involvement. I don't know,
(03:35):
since being on the show is just kind of cool
that I'm just on it. I wish I had a
better answer, but it's like, oh, I'm in it. I'm
doing the thing that I just again has been the
fabric of my life, and now I get to be
the part a part of the fabric of someone else's life,
which is pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
That is kind of that is kind of cool. I
got to be on the radio. Everybody in Colorado Springs
grew up listening to kys IN and one of my
first dio jobs was to work at KYSN. And it
was like, this is really cool. Yeah, that I'm on
this radio station, Yeah, is super cool.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Next one, Caitlin writes in says, I want to say
it was great meeting Dave and Bernie on Saturday at
Strutford Muttz. My heart was beating really fast. I was
a little bit nervous. I totally remember you. You and
your dog were adorable. I actually got a picture of
you and your dog. But it looks like a little
Scottie kind of a Yorky kind of a mix, and
he is adorable or she I'm not really sure, but
(04:32):
we just had the best time. So she goes on
to say, Bailey, since you're a cross ditch girly like me,
I hope you can enjoy this. I get so annoyed
being thirty six and enjoying cross stitching and hearing from
everybody who says it's an old person hobby.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
No, oh, that's it, that's what she said. Well, no, yeah,
I don't think it's an old person hobby at all.
I think it's really fun. And I I mean, I
know I have people who like crossed it or not
cross dish, but and crochet and I tried knitting, and
knitting takes forever versus cross stitching, Like you're literally watching
the picture show up like a printer right in front
(05:10):
of your eyes, and it's just like calming. You don't
have to think about it, versus like embroidery, you do
kind of have to think about embroidery, but cross ditch
is an X, and then the next X and then
the next that's kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I can see how that would be therapeutic and relaxing.
And then it said I have now met Jenny at
high Ve Cottage Grove last year, Dave on Saturday, So
now I need to meet my two friends, so that
would be Vonte.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
And baby Billy is the other one.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
And says thanks guys for being there for me, and again,
thank you. I absolutely remember you coming up and it
was just fun to meet you, so thank you. Caitlin
also going to give a shout out to Tristan who
came up near the end of the whole event, and
Tristan says, I wanted to write in and say with
my current job, I can listen to all four hours
of the morning show I do Monday through Friday on
(05:58):
the iHeart app. I love the Minnesota Goodbye and I
am almost finished listening to all of them. I've been
listening to show for a little over ten years, and
Minnesota Goodbye about a year and a half. I drive
to I drove two and a half hours this week
into this trut for Mutts and was so excited to
meet Dave. Took a bit and it was kind of
nerve racking, but I'm glad I did. I totally remember
(06:20):
you as standing over by the T shirt vendor and
you came up and said hi. And if I'd known
that you drove two and a half hours, we would
have gotten coffee together. Gotten coffee together, but.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
And he could have boughtom a pizza or something.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Right.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
I was there with my three year old dog, Bush,
my girlfriend that I adopted and rescued, and another little
puppy from the organization there.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
See. He is so cute.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
They're getting along very well. Thank you Dave for taking
the time to talk with me and meet with me.
You guys as show such a comfort and has helped
me through many hard and dark times. Love what you
guys do and that you've had such an impact on
so many lives. All right, and I'm gonna mail you
a sticker.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
She'd say that.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
He adopted a rest dode his girlfriend.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
I probably read it in a hurry.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
I think the way that you read it was fine.
It just was it sounded like you said girlfriend, but
they're talking about yeah, that they're dog.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I sometimes I try to zip through emails a little
faster than I should A goo, gonna slow down.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Here, here we go, not that slow.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
We don't have that much time.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Brianna says, all right, No, she says, hi all. I've
loved listening to your opinions this morning about holding men
to standards and searching for what you want after knowing
what you don't want.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
I have three non.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Negotiables in my dating life. I wouldn't say I have
a type, but I do prefer to stick to these.
They may seem shallow, but it is what it is,
and I like what I like. Number One, my boyfriend
has to be taller than me because I'm not trying
to kiss down. I am trying to kiss up.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
My boyfriend has to have a different hair color than me,
because I'm not trying to date my brother. I am blonde,
and they can be blonde as well as they are,
just not my blonde. Okay. Three they have to be
older than me because I'm not trying to babysit my boyfriend.
Other than that, they can be whatever size. I don't mind,
facial hair, body hair tattoos, piercing's bald, whatever. I am
(08:12):
engaged and completely obsessed with my fiance, So I'm saying
I'm doing pretty well giving my requirements. Just wanted to
share love y'all from Brianna.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
I feel like I mean, my last boyfriend was ten
years older than me and I was still babysitting.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
I am so I was gonna say age doesn't always
necessarily matter, but it is nice when you are in
a relationship with a partner and not having to be
their mother.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Other than that, I feel like my I mean, I
don't care if they're shorter than me. I don't care
if they have the same color hair as me. I
just want them to have a job and an established life,
like outside of me, because the last one I had
it seemed like, I don't know, it was like it
was a tea, was a teenager who just had a
teenager life that I don't know. If he wasn't in
(08:56):
the room, he like ceased to exist. It was just
a weird situation. So I'd rather be alone and settle
for something I don't care for.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Okay, next one question, I've always wondered how you can
look up ratings for shows on iHeart or other podcasts.
Do you have access to ratings information for the general
that the general public does not. Is there any type
of radio rating site that's available to the public so
we can actually see number of you similar to what
(09:23):
we can see on YouTube. Honestly, there is, but we
don't have access to it freely. Somewhere up in the
corporate tower, they have access to how many people are
listening to The Minnesota Goodbye, either a partial or the
entire thing, so they do judge us on that. But
I think we do pretty well, I hope so. I
(09:43):
think The Morning Show does really well, and I think
The Minnesota Goodbye does really well.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
We're second behind Collard Addie. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, that's
good to know.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Wow, really good.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Second after that one, I'm doing pretty good.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
I listened to The Dave Ryan Show versus The Oh.
I'm super curious how high the ratings are for shows
I listened to, like The Day Ryan in the Morning
Show versus The Minnesota Goodbye. I'm still fun, Mel Robbins,
et cetera. I truly don't know. I think that they
must be doing well because we don't get any blowback
from corporate going you know whatever, do better, do better.
(10:20):
You are all a big part of my daily podcast entertainment,
So thank you. Oh and PS, you won't be surprised.
I'm the do you ever think in numbers email that
wrote in a few weeks back, and I do remember you, yes, very.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Interest that stopped us in our tracks that one.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Let's see if I got another one here? Okay, I'll
read this one. Why not?
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Tim says, I don't believe I'm the only one that
experienced this as someone who doesn't get to listen live
but listens back to the replay normally. I listened to
the replay at one point five speed. Today I had
the day off and listened live for the first time
in quite a while, and it took me into a
minute to realize why you were speaking so slowly and
things were kind of dragging. I get that. I used
(11:04):
to listen very very regularly to a podcast from two
women called Take to the Sky, the Air Disaster Podcast,
and I would always listen on one point two five
or one point five. But a couple of times I
listened on normal speed. I'm like, bitch, speed it up
a little bit.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Now, why are you talking so slow?
Speaker 1 (11:21):
And the next Minnesota goodbye email is from Jamie. Jamie says, guys,
check this out. I was at a thrift store in
New Richmond, Wisconsin and found this insanely cool old school
KDWB hockey jersey. It's gonna be my new heirloom. I
go and to guess they bought it. You don't have
to share this on the radio, but I had to
show you, guys. It is a hockey jersey that says
(11:43):
on the front KDWB and the logo it's an official
like you know, it's a like licensed made by KWB.
On the back it says volsvic one Wow, so apparently
and no fault against Lee Volsviick. I'm going to guess
the Minnesota Wild gave this to Lee for or something like,
you know, saying let's play hockey and they give you
(12:05):
a jersey, or at least they used to. I've got
a couple of Wild jerseys in my closet and it's
not that I like them, and they're expensive and I
kind of treasure them and they're a cool keepsake, but
I can't think that I'll ever wear them again. I
guess if the Wild we're in the playoffs, I might
wear them. I'll take one, do you want one?
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Yeah, I'll take one.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
It's going to be really big on you, Dave on it.
I just think it says Ryan on the back, and
I think it says one on one to three on
the back. Fin send me a reminder later and I'll
fish it out of my closet. If I still have it.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
They send me some money on Venmo.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Yeah, it's probably a two hundred dollars hockey jersey. Well,
and I don't fault lead because I'm gonna guess that.
You know, she probably got this for some promotion and
she didn't wear it, so rather than throw it away, she.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Brought it to Goodwill and brought it down to the Goodwill.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
So, okay, thank you.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
I had one hockey jersey growing up and it was
for the Starfleet Academy. So that shows you how big
of a nerd I am. That's a star Trek reference.
If anyone was wondering you'd seen it, it's okay, that's
all right, I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Next one, this is from Secretary Bree. She says, thank
you so much to those of you that have been
writing into give me words of encouragement or advice. I
appreciate it so much. Second, somebody asked about the dart
Lick Origin episode. Now we read this one the other day,
didn't we? I think we did. That was back in
March of twenty twenty, and it appears that podcast no
longer exists.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Didn't we read this one the other day?
Speaker 4 (13:27):
So we read somewhere someone was asking what the origin
episode was. Okay, but now apparently it's been so long
since then that we can't unearth it.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Okay, if you search on iHeart, there's an episode called
Origin of dart Lick that discusses how that came about. Lastly,
I noticed recently that Susan's Instagram handle is still makes
Susan famous. I remember the day you did that bit
with her Christy and make Jacob famous because Jake was taken.
Christy and Susan both still use those accounts, So yes, Susan,
(14:00):
make Susan famous. The bit was who could get the
most Instagram followers Christy, Jake or Susan in one week?
And I remember right Susan killed it, so and she
still is on make Susan famous. The last vaunt Dog's
absolutely fart and my dog has audible ones that make
me laugh so hard. I'm instantly a twelve year old boy,
(14:23):
when I hear a dog fart. Okay, that's it for now.
I fulfill my duty. By the way, I'm curious who
came up with that bit, if you recall, as I
think it was such a smart one. I think I'm
at a point of my life where I'm not going
to be as modest as I have been and say
I came up with it. So I don't remember exactly
(14:44):
what brought it on, but I'm proud that I can
come up with things like that, and so I'm not
going to give you this false modesty like, oh.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
I don't remember. It could have been foul, and it
could have.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Been Steve knows me. Thank you very much, Thank you.
Next one, let's see what we got here. There's a
really long I'm gonna finish up with this one because
it's cute and I like it. We were talking about
hot doctors last week because on the Ladies Room with
Jenny and Bailey, you were talking about having a hot doctor,
(15:13):
and so people started calling in and texting in with
the hot doctors, and I talked about my hot eye doctor,
who I haven't seen her in probably five ish years,
but she's tall, very fit, gorgeous and wore tight clothing,
which you don't normally see a doctor wearing. And she
didn't wear the white lab coat. She just wore like,
you know, like not inappropriate at all, but very alluring,
(15:37):
I would say. And she wore the thigh high boots
thig high boots or kneehigh boots. Probably meets yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway,
this person says, I just have to say I laughed
out loud so hard when you were shouting out hot doctors,
especially since you shouted out doctor Michael Johnson at TCO.
I worked with doctor Johnson when he was at Mayo
Redwing as an orthopedic surgeon. Way to go, MJ for
(16:00):
getting recognized.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Lol.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
All right, that's from Shileena. Must be a hot doctor.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
And he's a surgeon, a surgeon, I know, I know
a surgeon, but he's not hot. But he still managed
to find a wife and now he's two kids, So
I mean, go for it, buddy.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
I think that would be really awesome to marry somebody
who's like a surgeon and so accomplished and they come
home and they save lives and they attach the knee
bone to the ankle bone.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Oh yeah, and all that. That would be super cool.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah, my friend who's a surgeon, he's an oral surgeon.
So he was like a dentist and then he went
back to be like an orthodonist, and now he's an
oral surgeon. And he says that the majority of the
work that he does are people who are in motorcycle
accidents and then just like f up their face faces.
Oh my god, yeah, which is bonkers.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
I mean cool, but that's kind of scary because I
ride motorcycles and you know, knock on wood.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
I've never been in an accident.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
He says, they're not wearing helmets, that's he so keep
wearing a helmet.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Well, I keep wearing a helmet, but I wear a
half helmet so that the upper half above the ears.
But if you land on your chin, oh well then
you're gonna be go.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
See my friend Michael.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Yeah, I don't want to, but I should. I mean really,
I've heard that a lot of motorcycle accidents you hit
your face on the pavements and that'll smash in your
teeth and whatever. So but wearing a full helmet is
kind of like being in a car. You're missing the
wind on your face, you.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Get it in your arm, hair, though, can you just
be happy with their arm hair?
Speaker 1 (17:29):
That's true, and I do have long, long arm hair
stick luxuriant arm.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
All right, that's gonna wrap it up for the Minnesota Goodbye.
Love to hear from you. Send your email into Ryan's
show at katiewb dot com
