Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Minnesota Goodbye Thursday version. Bailey and Jenny here and
maybe Vaunt Wolsey he might be popping in a second.
All right, right into the emails. Hello, my favorite crew
minus Dave. Random question Kristin here. First thing, Bailly, it
was so awesome to meet you this past weekend at
the Renaissance Festival. You're such a doll. It's super sweet.
But for my question this week, it's back to school.

(00:22):
What years in K through twelve were your favorite and
then your least favorite? For me, my favorite ones were
definitely kindergarten and senior year. Kindergarten was just so much fun,
and then senior year was so laid back in show
because we knew we were almost done. My worst year
was absolutely eighth grade. I was oh. I was bullied
relentlessly every day. So sorry about that. Love you guys,

(00:44):
all right. That comes from Kristen. All right. Bailey favorite
and Lee's favorite years K through twelve?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Heay, guzy Ps and vont will love to answer this
question because he talks about all the time.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Eazy Ps.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
My favorite grade's second grade because we started learning about
creative writing and I realized that was good at it
and it was really fun. So I loved second grade.
Fourth grade, we learned how to play chess. My teacher
was so fun and nice. Seventh grade. It's funny because
I know for a fact I was also bullied relentlessly
in seventh grade. But that's also when I started doing
theater in middle school, and the first show I ever did,

(01:16):
I had a pretty sizable part, and so I was like,
oh my gosh, my calling. So I loved seventh grade
for that. And then tenth grade also, I was like
doing pretty well in like high school theater, and I
joined the speech team. So I feel like that was
a very transformative year for me. So second, fourth, seventh, tenth,
I don't know. I never really had like a bad
year of school. Middle school was rough because I did

(01:37):
get made fun of a lot, and like ninth grade
was rough for the same reasons. But other than that,
like I don't know, I don't I don't let crap
get to me sometimes, so I'm always like, eh, it's school,
and I like learning. So I liked school period. But
what was your favorite years of school and your least
favorite years of school?

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I just know my favorite second seventh, eleventh, Second, I
just loved my teacher, Miss Leisner, And that was the
year my mom had my sister. I think so like
I was happy to be a big brother for the
first time. Seventh because I got my first girlfriend. Shout
out Hillary, and that's like your middle school girlfriend. She
gave me my first kiss. You have those memories. And
then eleventh, I don't know particularly why.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
I think I was just.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Doing a bunch like clubs and marching band and had
like a good you were in marching band, Yeah, I
was in the orchestra in the marching band.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
What Yeah, what did you play?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
I played drums. I played drums in the orchestra, and
then in marching band I played like the symbols and
then the snare drum.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I did not know that.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
No, I want to see pictures of you and your spot.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I'll find a video somewhere when I played when I
speak Spanish.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
No, I don't.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Did you only know words like what you know? I
did not answer it yet. I would say my favorite
years were freshman year of high school and senior year
of high school. Freshman because I was like the fresh
meet of the girls. Like there were three middle schools

(03:02):
in town. The other two middle schools all hung out
and we were like the weird middle school. So when
I came to town, I was friends with like soccer players
because I was on a traveling team with them already.
So I started hanging out with all the new like
girls and guys from the other schools, and the guys
like just love me. We'd go bullying and you know,
they'd like touch my side or something, and I was like,
oh my god, Alex has like fresh on me. So

(03:25):
I think freshman year was super hyped about that. And
then senior year was just really fun because I think
I'm a perfectionist and I was a straight A student
and when I got accepted into college, I was like, fuck, yeah,
I'm in college. I don't have to try anymore. However
I still did. And then also I think, like I
forget what it's called when you don't have to take
a like as many credits your.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Senior year, so you have a slide kind of.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Well no, it was it was like you get a
class off, like you get a period off because you
didn't need all of those credits. Yeah, and I think
I could have taken even less classes. But so anyways,
senior year was really fun. And I randomly we brought
this up on the show yesterday. I helped run the
school store, and it really was just like such a
fun experience because it was like ten of my friends

(04:06):
and we really got to just fuck around and quote
unquote run a business, but really like hang out in
a school store and eat candy all day. My least favorite,
I think, I don't. I think it was junior year
and I don't want to like get into the weeds
of bit, but I looking back at it now, I
think I was dealing with depression. And I didn't know

(04:26):
it at the time, but I wondered how I was
going to get through school every day. And I wasn't bullied.
I like really wasn't, and so I couldn't equate to
what caused that.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
You were like, I don't know why I'm sad, but
I'm sad.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, Like I remember my sister had a car and
we would drive into school and every single day I
was like I hate this and I'm like not doing good.
So I don't know what it was. I really don't,
but anyway, it is not to end on a bad note,
but yes, that was my I was like my not favorite,
all right, Next email says, good morning, crew. I haven't

(05:00):
written in a while, and I have a couple updates,
but I will share them another day. I do want
to address Bailey's lifelong dreams of clowning. I would start
with looking up clowning videos from Modern Family season one.
Probably Cam was a clown and the real actor used
to be one himself when he was younger. But in
one of the episodes, he explains the main for groups,

(05:21):
the main four groups of clowns. Oh, yes, it's comical
and informative. You should so you should definitely look that up.
And I wish you luck on your clowning endeavors.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
This is useless in PHO, but I'm glad I'm able
to give some tips when needed. Ella that comes from
Sarah in Montana is such a fun Do you ever
watch Modern Family.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
I've seen like a couple episodes here and there, but
I've never like sat down to watch it. Man, it
made sense that Cam is a clown because I know
of what I know of him.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah, that checks out for sure.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
It's such a good show. I always only ever watched
like random episodes, but I just think it's so funny.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
There's occasional like clown workshops that I define stop so
like because I'm in like the improv community, I and
theater in general like I have. I'm on all these
like newsletter mailing list things, and one of the improv
like schools or like class the people who do classes
they are offering like a clown workshop. And every time

(06:16):
I see clwn workshop, I'm like, oh my gosh, Oh
my gosh, clown workshop. It's happening. It's happening. And it's
on a day that I have a debate tournament. Yeah,
and I'm just like no. So I emailed them though,
and I was like, hey, I am interested in this,
Please bring this back if possible, and they were like, bruh,
we will for sure. Wow, So you're gonna find me

(06:37):
in a clown workshop one of these days, I.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Swear, all right.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
So the next one says, hello friends, Peyton, here short
and sweet email Today this evening, I found a new
artist that I wanted to share. I think you guys
would also be listening to her music all night too,
so let's dance in the kitchen together. Her name is
Olivia Dean. Maybe you guys have heard of her, and
I've just been missing out. I cannot pick a favorite song,
but her song Man I Need brings me back to
early two thousands chick flicks. Hope you guys enjoy your music.

(07:05):
PS amazing job over the fair days. I'm sure that
takes a lot of time and energy. We all appreciate
seeing your smiling faces. Love you lots, Talk to you later.
Have you guys heard of Olivia.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
I'm looking at her now. She's a neo soul and
like a pop soul artist from England. I love like
neo soul, like that old school what is it giving
like Eric Abodo the roots type vibe?

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah, to look into that. Yeah, well, thank you Peyton
for sending that one in. All right, Good morning, Jenny
Bailey and font if he's there today, I'm currently sitting
Oh my gosh and Broad and Co. Bakery and Rick Rikchivic.
I always say it wrong, oh Rykovic. Jesus, I've been
there and I just can never say it Rikuvic. Having

(07:51):
literally just gotten off a flight from California, It's seven
thirty am, and per Jenny suggestion, my husband and I
just finished eating one of the most delicious cinemarellos we've
ever had. Trust me, if you go to Iceland, you
cannot not get a cinnamon roll. Okay, it's so good.
Once again, it's called Broad and Co. And there's multiple locations. So, Jenny,
your Iceland blog post has been fantastically invaluable. Thank you

(08:13):
so much for the work you put into the research
and time. Believe it or not, as soon as I
finish this, we shall be heading over to sky Lagoon
to enjoy our therm our own thermal spa morning, and
then two weeks of driving around the country and enjoying
its grandeur and shameless plug here if you're wondering, I
do have a travel blog. It's called meetmeofgrid dot com,
and I post everything about my travels. I'm working on

(08:34):
stuff about the up right now, because I just went
there this past weekend. So but ultimately why I write
this is because of a thought for a potentially fun
bit that y'all might use to mess with Dave. Right
here we go, Remember when Fallon called in pretending to
be Carson. Well, now that Carson and Bernie have met,
maybe they both Fallon and Bailey do some sort of

(08:55):
group call in to rag On Dave team up as
new besties or maybe there's owner bros. Now Bernie's a
stoner now anyway, just some random thought on the plane
last night that made me chuckle. Y'all are doing a
fantastic job all days away. Love me some morning zoo
Sending love from Iceland. This is Robert from Sonoma, California.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
You you didn't let me order door dash ordered we did.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Bernie would never Yeah, he would never smoke down may.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
He wouldn't want to.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
I don't know if he needs marijuana to be any
more dirtier.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
One of my favorite things at the fair this year
is I would have little kids come up to me
and they would say that Bernie was their favorite part
of the show.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Because I'd be like, what do you like about the show?

Speaker 2 (09:37):
They'd be like Bernie, and so I'd say, okay, cool,
close your eyes. And then they'd be like, hey, did
it's me your showing Bernard.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
I really liked him. Do a dish or else I'm
going to poop in your shoes. And they'd be like,
oh my gosh ha And I was turned into a
cute little moment.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
At one point, I think our first day out there,
someone said, oh, I love when Bernie calls in and
then all of a sudden, Bernie was like there and
Bailey goes, oh, he's like in the air. I feel
him his presence. Dad oh Man. All right, well, Robert,
have so much fun and ice then you're gonna have
the best time ever. Iceland is so freaking beautiful and

(10:14):
sky Lagoon is so fucking awesome. Like it's beautiful. So anyways,
we'll do one last email and then we're gonna wrap
it up for today. But this is hello Dave and friends. Well,
Dave is not here today, but feel free to use
my name. I'd be interested to see what comes up
as what it comes up as. Lol, my real name
is Kendra. You can say that too if you want.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
What does that say it for her name?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
I don't know. I'm confused.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Kendra is that crazy ass mom on the it's unrelated,
but on that high school.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Catf is doc.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Well, it says Kendra Pixie, so maybe she goes by Pixie. Anyways, Okay,
it does come up if you're wondering. It comes up
as Pixie Pie as your name for your email. So okay,
I don't have anything really specific to talk about, just
random us if you don't mind. First, the last email
I heard you read out an email about someone being
offended at being called ma'am, and I wanted to say

(11:08):
that I'm a truck driver commercial the big trucks. Lol.
I much prefer being called ma'am in some of the
other I'm going to be honest. There's a lot of
grammatical errors in this, so bear with me being called
ma'am to some of the other things. I'm called out
here sweetheart, for one. My response when anyone called me
sweetheart is always I'm not your sweetheart, but you can

(11:28):
call me ma'am or Kendra, and I always say it
with a smile. I'm sure I offend or make people
feel bad, but I think we should normalize not adding
mam or sir or deer or whatever onto our greetings.
Number one. I think we should be more accepting of
people defining themselves. I don't get to decide if you're
a miss, ma'am or sir, so why should I say it?
I don't know, just my opinion on the matter. Another

(11:50):
email I remember was about the show having changed. I
hope I don't offend you, Davi or Jenny. Here we
go when I say this, about seven or so years ago,
I stopped listening to KATIEWB in the mornings. I mean
not only that, I stopped listening to all radio DJs
because for some reason, every time I heard one of
you talk, it always sounded drenched in misogyny and sexism.
To be fair, it wasn't just KATIEWB at the time,

(12:12):
it was also the other top forty stations I listened
to I liked listening to. Anyways, my point is that
the show has changed, but the world has changed too.
I think it was Jenny that said the show had changed,
that you all are trying to be more open and
honest about yourselves, more relatable. I appreciate that, but I'm
still not a fan of the show. I listen because

(12:32):
my husband loves the day Ryan in the Morning Show,
along with the War, the Roses, and now the Minnesota
Goodbye we drive together in the truck. I probably should
have seen that sooner lol. Anyways, he's a fan, which
is why I'm writing, and also because I like you guys.
I just think sometimes, not always or even often, you're
trapped into saying things because that's where the news is,
or that's what's trending right now, or that's what you

(12:53):
need to say to keep your listeners, and that's okay.
I'm gonna be honest, that's not true at all, Like
I'm going to stop the email. We do what we
want to do on this show, and what we say
is things that we believe in. So I'm not entirely
sure what you're thinking that we have to do or say.
But for the most part, everything that comes out of
our mouths is who we are as people, and we

(13:14):
don't try. I mean, there's exaggerations, no doubt, we overally
exaggerate about Bailey being single forever. She's not gonna be
single forever. She has like people reach out to her,
and she has a life and stuff. So I would
say there's exaggerations, But our thoughts and opinions are our
thoughts and opinions, right, unless.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
You're talk about shit like the iHeart Radio Munic Festival.
You want to go to that, Like obviously we have
to do that stuff, But that's two minutes out of
a four and a half hour show.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Well, I think like then, I know, at least for Dave,
like if we disagree with something that he says, like
usually I call him out like right then and there
instead of like waiting to do it later because he
likes that. So he likes that we're different people.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
And so he has.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Told me like, literally, we'll go off air and I'll
be like, sorry, I like blew up at you, but
like I wasn't gonna entertain what you were saying.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
And He'll be like, no, that was great.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Because how boring would it be of you said and
listen to this show for four and a half hours Bailey,
what's your favorite color?

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Green?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (14:15):
My favorite color is green too, Jenny, yours is green too.
Glad we had this convo. That's boring, right, Yeah, you
know that's what we Yeah, we all bring our opinions
and shit, right, I mean you're still you're listening with
your husband, whether it's by choice or by proxy you're emailing,
so we still appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
Yeah, And I'll end it with her last paragraph that
says a truck As a truck driver, I would like
your listeners to know that driving a truck isn't scary.
Commercial drivers are given additional driving instruction along with active
training on the road. You are generally safe for driving
near a truck than you are next to that dude
on their cellphone who hasn't looked at the road in
the last twenty minutes. Generally, truck drivers are still human

(14:49):
after all.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Lol.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
If I had any one piece of advice to give
about driving near trucks, it's just to be predictable. Drive
the same way near us that you would next to
a school bus or a cop or that person on
their cell phone. As long as you're driving with attention,
paying attention, you have very little to worry about on
the road. Anyways, thanks for listening and reading this long email.
Love to you all and wishing you happiness. And once
again that comes from Kendra or Pixie. I think that

(15:13):
she goes by all right, that's going to do it
for emails today, feel free to email us. Tomorrow is
the last day where it's just going to be the
three of us, and then Dave will be back on Monday.
