about it. But Brandon, thanks for all you do and
thanks to College Muscle Movers. And they're doing something. I

Thank you so much. Let's meet our wisher this morning.
Good morning, Mikey, Good morning, Mike. You've been listening to
KTBB for a long time. My whole life, your whole life.
(01:23):
Did you ever call into the request line and try
to request eminem or anything like that?
Speaker 5 (01:27):
No, I have it, No yet, Now I will do.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
And if you grew up listening to KTBB, you've heard
us do Christmas wish before, yes, and probably never expected
that you would be doing a Christmas wish this time
for your brother.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
No, I did not. Your brother is.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Going through some very difficult times right now, and we
want to see if we can help him out. So
we're going to call him live right now on the
radio and let him know what's going on. So here
we go, Mikey, this is your older brother.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Okay, do you guys have other siblings? Yeah? We do? Okay,
got it? And so was he the one who'd like
beat you up when you were growing up?
Speaker 6 (02:09):
You guys are pretty close, I assume yeah, yeah, okay, good.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Classic Calleen Jason right now, Hello, Hi, Jason, It's Dave
Ryan on the radio over at kd WB.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
How are you.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
I'm I'm doing okay, kind of a little bit of
a surprise to you know, seven oh six in the morning,
get a phone call from KTWB. But I'm calling with
us some good news and we'll start with the fact
that your brother is Mikey is here.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Mikey, say hi to your brother. Hi.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Hi.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
The big mystery is that Jason, why are we calling?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Well, KATWB has done something for years and maybe you're familiar,
called Christmas Wish, where we ask for people who listen
to the show to tell us about somebody who is
struggling a little bit in different ways for Christmas. And
your brother nominated you, and your brother's gonna read the
letter that he wrote to us about you.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Is that okay? Yeah, yeah, okay, whenever you're ready, Mikey, Okay.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
I came here today to tell you all about my
brother Jason, who was recently diagnosed with a rare, incurable
cancer cl also known as chronic lymphocidic leukemia.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
I always messed out with us at the very young
age of forty one.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
I know some people might not consider that young, but
it is to be told you have cancer and that
that's your new normal. My brother has a husband, a
father for a grandpa to three, a major jokester, and
he is also a former security guard. He did security
at many places around the Twin Cities for many years.
His kids are Jay, Cheyenne, Crystal, and Norma. Right now, sorry,
(04:02):
it's okay, take your time.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Right now. His wife, Tricia is the only one able
to work.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
She is a CNA and currently in school to become
a CMA. On top of everything else they have going on,
so their financial situation has taken a pretty big hit
this year with being limited only one income. Our whole
family has been trying our best to help them out
anyway we can, but with how much it costs just
living life lately, we can all only do so much.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
More.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
Recently, they even have been having dinner at family member's
houses pretty much every night, just because it's gotten hard
for them to afford food with all the bills they
have to take care of. My brother's life has changed
a lot. He is in a lot of pain now
most days, he's always tired. He has monthly appointments, frequent
er visits, CT scans, MRIs chemo and so much more.
(04:57):
You would expect him to be a bitter person with
all that going on, but one of his favorite things
to do is make everyone laugh, and he's good at
it too. On top of all of that, he still
brings his girls to school every day and gets them
from school to no matter how much pain he is in.
That is one of the joys of his days now.
(05:19):
He has said a lot recently how sad he would
become because he wouldn't be able to afford Christmas or
his family, which I know with him being the band
of the house, how much that breaks his soul in
a way which has also broken my heart no wing
how hard it is for him not to be able
to provide a good Christmas for his kids and wife.
They really deserve a good Christmas, especially his girls who
(05:42):
now have to worry about their dad every day. I
decided to nominate my brother and his family for Katie
w Christmas wish on a whim.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
But I'm so glad I did.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
I am so glad you did. Jason. Thanks for taking
the call this morning. How are you feeling this morning?
Is it kind of a bad day, is it a
better day? How are you feeling today.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
I'm great today.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Do you have you have good days and bad days?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I'm going to guess yeah, yeah, but you're still getting
up in the morning and taking the You got four kids?
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Are they all girls?
Speaker 3 (06:24):
No? Three girls, one boy. Two of them are still
miners and two are adults.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Gotcha, but you got to take the two girls to school?
Are you taking the girls to school today?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Okay, it's we know that they're still giving you treatment
and they're hoping for the best, but it's kind of
a reality that you're that you're facing that. I kind
of hate to say it, but this is you know,
you don't know how many Christmas is.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
You have left? Yeah? How are the girls? How are
your kids doing with all that?
Speaker 3 (07:06):
I think my youngest one takes it the worst. She's fourteen.
She's like attached to my hip.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Yeah, she loves her dad.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Let me tell you, at fourteen years old, they're usually
distant from dad, so that she definitely the loves her dad.
How about how's Tricia? Tricia is now working at your wife?
How is she holding up through all of this?
Speaker 3 (07:35):
But that and she's like my rocks.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
I know, Well, we've got some things to make your
Christmas a little bit better, brighter. I know that money
can be tight, uh, and we want to help out.
That's what Christmas wish is all about. So you wouldn't
ask for it, you didn't expect it, but here it is.
Sometimes blessings happen in life just kind of out of nowhere.
(08:03):
You know, things are just bad and they're bad and
they're bad, and then all of a sudden there's like,
my gosh, something wonderful happened out of nowhere. And sometimes
it's as simple as somebody writing in a letter, like

other stuff too for you. We heard that you might
be able to use a new recliner. Is that right?
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Right? Oh yeah, Well we've ordered.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
A beautiful new recliner and it's going to be delivered
to your home possibly later today. We also found a
Sharper Image massage gun because we know that you're in
some pain and we thought, well that might help out
a little bit. So that'll be for you for the

her get off her feet relaxed for a little while.

Speaker 7 (10:12):

Speaker 2 (11:03):
We get a cure, I get a bunch of pods
and some things for around the house. And then Treasure

up to it, it's the Treasure Island bonus. We call it.

Speaker 6 (12:49):
Mike is thirty one years old and his five kids
well working. One day in July, Mike became very sick
with a lot of stomach and back pain and flew
leg symptoms. When Mike got home, he went to the
doctor where they found some of his limph notes were
swollen in the stomach area. He had an uncommon type
of stomach cancer that has spread to his liph notes
and also on the right side of his liver. The
doctor's told him he has about a year to live.
(13:09):
Since July, Mike has not been able to work due
to the two and a half hour chemo treatments that
he receives every three weeks.
Speaker 8 (13:15):
I musha on a start and trying to believe that
even though it's fun, he'll find me.
Speaker 9 (13:26):
Chris Mussy, I have a sixth grade student who is
dealing with cancer and his family. His mama is diagnosed
with lymphoma and has just finished nine of her fifteen
chemo treatments. The student feels a burden that no young
child should have to so instead of being a kid,
he is forced to do the laundry dishes, watch younger siblings,
and take care of his sick mother.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Nothing that an eleven year old should have to deal with.
Speaker 10 (13:46):
A pretty little boy, yes he is this time.
Speaker 8 (13:51):
When everyone comes from with all this Christmas, it's hard.
Speaker 7 (13:59):
To Carrie Smith is twenty five years old who is
expecting her first baby. In January. Everything was going how.
She and her boyfriend Tim had a plan, busy with
picking baby girl names and planning for the days ahead. Unexpectedly,
everything changed. In the blink of an eye, Tim Harry's boyfriend,
passed away asleep, unknown to any of us. Although Carrie
has a very supporting family, there's nothing harder than losing
the father of her unborn baby girl and going.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Through all of this alone.
Speaker 7 (14:21):
She does the best to keep her head up each
day and be optimistic, but inside we all know she
is breaking. I just want to see her happy again,
as if all the pain were gone and everything was
to be.
Speaker 8 (14:30):
Okay, Christmas comes, Exciting Christmas.
Speaker 11 (14:48):
My friend Cindy is a kind and compassionate person. She
is a second grade teacher at a local mun charter school.
Most of her second grade class are sent to school
without socks, hats.
Speaker 6 (14:56):
Or mittens.
Speaker 11 (14:57):
Many of the kids cannot complete their homework because their
family cannot afford crams. Cindy, being the amazing person that
she has, took it upon herself to fend a sock
drawer for her classroom. When children show up to school
without socks, she takes a pair out of her drawer
and gives them to the child in need. It is
something so simple, yet so wholeheartedly kind. This holiday season,
I'm asking you to help Cindy with her efforts. She
(15:17):
can only do so much on a teacher's salary and
would rather provide her classroom with basic necessities instead of
receiving anything herself. Helping her this holiday season would not
only touch her heart, but the hearts of nineteen glowing
second graders.
Speaker 6 (15:32):
Jay Rea.
Speaker 8 (15:37):
I heard of them, but never.
Speaker 10 (15:43):
Pay I've got a perfect pregnancy and they were scheduled
producing that week. Beautiful Tels Marie was born vsc sections
at two fifteen am, Win single Grammer eleventh's. Unfortunately, I
began having complications and a doctor had a tender her immediately.
I've had a saniotic fluid embolism, something that happens in
less than one and twenty thousand verse and is usually
(16:05):
always fatal to another. They did everything they could for her,
that to forty five PM, twelve hours as to give
in verse that've passed away at age thirty sixty three
short things before they're one year anniversary.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Did Jams Jays.
Speaker 8 (16:24):
Christmas? Thanks you profession that family that's Christmas.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Did and that wraps up another Christmas wish on kd WB,
you know, and some of these are they're so difficult
to listen to, but if you think about what the
families are going through, and sometimes we lose sight of that.
(16:55):
And I don't want to sit here and like you know,
be dramatic, but here is a guy who's forty one
years old and this could be his last Christmas.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
Yeah, how do you How do you do that with
your kids? How do you be? Like, well, what do
you do?
Speaker 7 (17:10):
And he's got such a big family too for kids
and grandkids, Like, holy canoli's what do you think?
Speaker 4 (17:15):
You can't even imagine?
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Yeah, So that is why we do Christmas Wish because
in those unimaginable situations, and some are not unimaginable, some
are just rough. You know, you lose your job and
then you got like you know this and the car
won't start. And so that's why we do Christmas Wish
because most of us are very blessed and we don't
have those problems, so we want to help out people
(17:37):
who do. Thanks to Treasure Island, thanks to Holiday Station Stores,
Thanks mostly to you and people who nominate people for
Christmas Wish, and shout out to youth.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Link they're our charity partner who helps us out with
us every year. And also Choice Bank they hang on
to all the money for us because we are not
good with money. We don't want to be holding onto that.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Thanks Choice Bank, Youth Link and we will be back
in a second. We're not going anywhere. Actually we are.
We're gonna do another Christmas Wish tomorrow. There'll be at
least one every day. We're trying to squeeze in a
bonus one because there's two that we really want to do,
but we've only got six more days for Christmas Wish, yes,
so we're trying to work in some extra ones.
