Ryan's sister dropping off donuts. Okay, so they have testing
for Harper today. Yeah, so she's surprising them.

Speaker 1 (02:44):

Speaker 7 (04:32):
We oh hello, hi speaker.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah, well you can be on speaker if you want to.
It's Dave Ryan over at Katie w B with your
friend Lisa here in the studio. Say hi Lisa, Say
hi to Sarah.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Hi, Sarah, good morning.

Speaker 7 (04:48):
Hi.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Would you have any idea why we would be calling
this morning?

Speaker 7 (04:56):
Possibly?

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Okay, Well, we're going to fill you in.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
We do, as you probably know, Katiewb's Christmas Wish every year,
and we ask people to write to us and tell
us about a family that's going through some tough times
right now. So your fring Lisa wrote in and told
us about your situation, and she's going to read this
letter on KATIEWB right now while you listen in.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Is that okay?

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah, okay, we told you, yeah, Mascara alert, okay, yeah,
whenever you are ready.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
We've been plased to listen to stories shared in the
Christmas Wish for over twenty years, and never did we
imagine we'd find ourselves in a position to nominate a
family this year. With full hearts, we are nominating our
best friends of over thirty years, the Snutting family from Maconia, Minnesota.
On September eighteenth, twenty twenty four, Sarah and Ryan's lives
were turned upside down when they took their eight year

(05:51):
old daughter, Harper, to the doctor after noticing unexplained severe
bruising on her legs. After a series of tests and
a bone marrow biopsy, they received the heart breaking news
on September twenty three that Harper had been diagnosed with
aplastic anemia, a rare and serious condition in which the
bone marrow fails to produce enough blood cells. Since then,
Harper has been in and out of the hospital, undergoing

(06:14):
regular transfusions. Despite these challenges, her spirit remains unshaken. She
continues to be her happy, intelligent, and inventure herself, but
the road ahead for Harper and her family is a
challenging journey. After the new year, Harper is scheduled to
undergo a bone marrow transplant. The process will require chemotherapy, radiation,

(06:34):
and a leanthly hospital stay. Due to her weakened immune system,
she must remain home from school, likely for the rest
of the year and potentially longer. With the support of family,
Sarah and Ryan have been taking turns stepping away from
work to care for Harper and support her.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Through this challenging treatment plan.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
While this has stretched them aways they could never have imagined,
they've been fortunate to receive unwavering support and understanding from
their employers, making a very difficult time a little more manageable.
Sarah and Ryan are two of the most selfless and
giving people we know. They've always been the first to
offer help to others, and now, despite their struggle, it's

(07:13):
hard for them to ask for help in return. However,
there is one thing they are deeply passionate about and encouraging,
and that anyone between the ages of eighteen and forty
should consider visiting. Be the Match dot org now known
as NMDP dot org to join the Bone Marrow Registry.
Even if you're not a match for Harper, you could
be the one to save someone else's life. And if

(07:34):
joining the registry isn't an option, they also encourage donating
bloodor platelets, simple acts that can have an extraordinary impact
on someone's someone in need. Although Harper's family lives in
a constant state of uncertainty, preparing for the next phase
of their journey and anticipating what lies ahead, they are
grateful for Harper that she'll be home for Christmas and

(07:55):
able to spend it with her sisters, Cecilia and Stella.
From the bottom of our heart, thank you, Katie Katie
w B for granting our Christmas wish for the Snutting
family during this incredibly challenging time. We hope that this
gesture can offer them some relief, even if just for
a moment, and bring a smile to their faces the
struggles they are facing. With all our love, Love Aaron, Kristen,

(08:18):
Jessica and Lisa.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Sarah.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
September eighteenth, twenty twenty four is a day that you
will never forget.

Speaker 7 (08:29):
Definitely, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
And it started with just it.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Started with just like some bruises and you thought maybe
she like knocked her knees on the table or fell
down or something.

Speaker 7 (08:37):
I'm gonna guess, right, oh, exactly, exactly right. We kind
of that she was just being a kid and that
she was just playing at the park and she'd fall
and did bruises, and all of a sudden, it was
like this, there's something that's not right.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yeah, And so did you get the news that day
or was there a series of tests that day.

Speaker 7 (09:03):
We actually brought her to the year a couple of
times because we're like, there's there's just something that's not right. Yeah,
So yeah, and it took a series of tests to
definitely find out her diagnosis.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
So, yeah, tell me about Harper.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
She's eight years old and just before September twenty five, September,
I want to say, to eighteenth, she was just a
regular kid doing her thing, playing soccer, gymnastics, whatever she
was doing, just just a regular normal kid with your
other is it two other daughters, two other daughters.

Speaker 7 (09:37):
Yes, yep, two older older sisters. Yeah. And she's still
I mean, you sometimes would really not know that she's
sick because she is such a trooper. She's in such
good spirits most of the time. After being hooked and prodded.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Yeah, and that's.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Going to be so tough because at eight years old,
I mean nobody. Most people don't really remember very well
when they were eight years old, but what are they
maybe third grade when they're yeah, something like that. So
you think about when you're in third grade, what do
you remember about your life. You'd come home from school,
you'd get a snack, you'd ride your bike, you'd watch TV,
you'd play with your friends, you'd go whatever.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
And that's what it was. So she's home with you now, right?

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (10:24):
Okay, yeah, yeah, she's here.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Oh and is she?

Speaker 7 (10:28):
Is?

Speaker 3 (10:28):
She awake?

Speaker 7 (10:30):
She is awake? You want to come say hi?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
You say Hi Hi?

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Do you ever listen to the radio, Harper, Well, we're
on Katie w B. My name is Dave Ryan and
I do the morning show and I'm here with your
mom's friend, Lisa.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Thanks Lisa.

Speaker 7 (10:55):
Do you know she knows?

Speaker 4 (11:00):
No?

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Mom?

Speaker 7 (11:01):
Nova and Addie and Brinn. Yeah, well yeah, you've heard smiling.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
What a great kid.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
And seriously, we just can't even imagine that you're the
journey that you're up for. But we wanted to do
a Christmas wish from your friend to help your family
feel loved supported, ease the burden a little bit. So
that's why Lisa wrote in that letter. So we have
some things for you and your family. Let's start out
with Harper, who is eight years old. For Harper, we

(11:32):
are loading her up for Christmas, and you can like
give it to her for Christmas or she can have
it now. We're going to deliver this in moments. Everything
from a Nintendo Switch, which is like the best gaming system.
You can do it on your TV. You can do
it handheld Animal Crossing, which I played for four hours
a day during the pandemic.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Mario.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
We got some pj's and Squish mellows, slippers and some
socks in a blanket, and then we've got Squish mellows
and two surprise scentence Wish mellows because they are scented.
We've got a volleyball, Stanley water bottle, some other cool
things for her.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
But there's I think one of the challenges.

Speaker 7 (12:10):
Did it for her?

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Harper?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Do you want it now or do you want to
wait until Christmas? Yeah, that's my girl's Harper's got a
big sister who is eleven years old, and I think
one of the things that we've learned during one of
these challenging times is the other kids still need love
and attention and affection and time. Also, So Stella is
and Stella is your big sister. She's eleven years old.
Is Stella around anywhere?

Speaker 6 (12:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (12:36):
Here, Stella.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
We've got some great things to keep that for myself, okay,
We've got for your for your sister Stella. We've got
a wild Hockey jersey because we heard that your family
loves the Wild Stanley water bottle. Air pods because we

(13:01):
heard she needs some air pods and those are great.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
We got the top of the line best air pods.
And then there's there's CC is CC around two yep,
I see C hi CC. Do you like Sephora? Yeah, yeah,
we're gonna we got.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
One hundred and fifty dollars gift card for you, and
we don't we don't want you to be jealous of
your sister's Stanley water bottles, so we got one of those,
and we got one hundred dollars airy airy gift card.
And then AirPods because everybody needs air pods to shut

(13:38):
out your mom and dad and listen to KATIEWB. So
we got that for you and then for all the
girls in the family. Every girl, including mom had ugs
on their Christmas list, so we got y'all a five

Speaker 3 (14:02):
You're so welcome. I love that.

Speaker 2 (14:04):

Christmas wish. So for mom, Mom's a pretty good mom.
We got up for mom a two hundred dollars Target
gift card, lots of face masks, doctor teals, bath salts,
bubble bath, and a sugar scrub which is found's cool.
One hundred dollars Broadway Pizza gift card. Thanks to Broadway

of things. We'll start with the smaller stuff and build up.

Minnesota Wild take on Utah December twentieth, right, so we
got that.

Speaker 2 (15:24):

the girls that include a sign puck and we'll get
those tickets over to you. Thanks to the Minnesota Wild

heard about you and they wanted to help you out.
And we know you've got a journey, quite the journey
ahead of you, and we wish you nothing but the
