Speaker 1 (00:00):
One on one point three Katie w The Dave Ryan
in the morning shows Christmas Wish. We're gonna start off
Christmas Wish right now with Kayla. Good morning, Kayla, Good morning, Kayla.
Tell us about listening to Katie WB growing up, probably
listening hearing Christmas Wish, driving to school with dad, listening
to War of the Roses in the car on the
(00:20):
way to school. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah, definitely have been listening my entire life, so as
long as I can remember. My mom's really big into music,
so we listen to radio all the time.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
I love that Kayla is doing a Christmas Wish and
we're going to get to that in just a second.
I want to make sure our friend Brandon from college
Muscle Movers is standing by. Good morning, Brandon, Good morning.
What part of town are you in today, Brandon, very Minnetonka.
In Minnetonka, Okay, gotcha. You've been everywhere from Zimmerman to
(00:51):
Waconia and now Minnetonka. Probably hit the east side next
couple of days. Brandon, Thanks for all you do. What's
the hardest thing to move? When you go to a
house to move something and you go, oh no, they
have an X Y z. What's the hardest thing to move?
I think the common art thing or cood yard thing
is a sleeper college sleeper count for heavy. It just
(01:15):
pops out. You're like, what about a piano. Is a
piano hard to move?
Speaker 3 (01:24):
It can be, but we have a process for it,
so it's not too bad.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
They know what they're doing, Jasey. Just heavy though they
use their legs. They use their legs. You have to
pick up the piano. Okay, thank you, Brandon, Thanks for
doing what you do. Brandon is there to deliver the
wishes to the family and stand by in case they
don't answer the phone. Brandon, thank you for doing this
and we'll talk to you in a little bit. Okay, absolutely,
thank you, my friend. Let's make the phone call. How
(01:46):
do you know Ashley, Kayla?
Speaker 2 (01:49):
I knew her in high school, but just most recently
is like where we got closer through mutual friends.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Okay, let's call her right now and start Christmas Wish
Live on Katie WB So, Cayla.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
What did you tell Ashley to hopefully get her to
answer the phone early on a Tuesday morning.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
That was my husband's job.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
He's actually sitting outside creeping on them, making sure that
they're awake and everything.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
He talks to her husband every day.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Okay, tell them to waive at Brandon our college.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
He's out there too. By the way, you can watch
this on YouTube Dave Ryan Show on YouTube, but you
can watch the wish, at least the studio version of
Christmas Wish.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Hi, you've reached Jasha Romero, so I can't come to
my phone right now. Please leave me your name, your number.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
And will be funnyf we left the entire Christmas Wish
on her voicemail first is what would be? Never done
that before?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
We have not.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Let's try her one more time. Maybe she'll answer the
next time. You never know, I do.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I was going to say, when a number calls me
two times in a row, then I'm like, it must.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Be in poor this point, I assume it's my mom
calling from jail or something, so I should probably answer
terrible when it.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Gets wild, so you never know. Good it could be.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Hello, Hello, is this Ashley Ashley. Hey, it's Dave Ryan
on the radio over at kd w B. Do you
have a minute.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
I do. I'm just getting ready for work.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Well, we have some good news for you, and I'll
start off with this one. Your friend Kayla is standing
right here next to me. Say Hi, Kayla, Hi.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Ashley, what is this all about.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Well, we're going to start right in with the letter
that Kayla wrote to us for what we call Christmas
wish over at KATIEWB. She's told us a little bit
about your family and your situation and some of the challenges,
and we wanted to help out. And it all started
with this letter that Kayla wrote to us. Okay, whenever
(04:15):
you're ready, Kayla, Okay.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
I've been close friends with Ashley and Alan for about
fifteen years. We connected shortly after high school, and over
the years our friendship has deepened, particularly in our late
twenties and thirties, to our family gatherings, shared connections, and
mutual support. Their family, including their sons Dylan and Jaden,
have become like an extended family to me and my husband.
(04:38):
In recent years, their family has faced a series of
hardships that have tested their resilience. Ashley recently underwent a
liver transplant and has been in and out of the hospital.
The physical and emotional toll is significant there, that's okay,
and she's lost her hair from treatments. Despite this, she
rarely complains and continues to show incredible stres She just
(05:01):
lost her dream job that was paying for her life
saving medication. She's an incredibly selfless person and still continues
to try to help others in any way possible. She
Ken is just unbelievably honorable. Dylan, their eldest son, is
preparing to join the Air Force after graduation, but was
involved in a car accident recently, adding to their stress.
And Jaden, their younger son, is overcoming lifelong learning disabilities.
(05:23):
He finds joy in toy cars, transformers, playing nerve for
and water games with my son in our backyard. Their
home is in need of repairs and they're currently without
basic appliances and home comforts. My goal is to ease
their burdens and create a joyful and memorable Christmas for
them this year, despite the challenges they're facing, because of
how amazingly beautiful these people are and their family deserves
(05:43):
nothing but love.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Ashley, I think that cayleb put it so well. The
goal is to ease your burdens and create a joyful
and memorable Christmas for you guys this year, despite the
challenges you're facing. How long ago was your liver transplant.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
He lived three years ago.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
I'm sorry, three years ago. Okay, how are you doing today?
Speaker 4 (06:14):
I'm doing good.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
And and Dylan is gonna he wants to join the
Air Force. Are the prospects still good for him joining
the Air Force?
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Yeah, he's really excited about it. He's been talking to
a recruiter where of course you're gonna miss him when
he leaves. He helps USA out a lot with Jaden
and we'll have to navigate new territory trying to figure out,
you know, how to get Jayden to school and all
that good stuff.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Tell me about Jaden. Jaden is how old?
Speaker 4 (06:48):
So Jaden is seventeen years old. He unfortunately when he
was born, was very auxygen deprived and didn't get them
a cloquet is needed right away. So he ended up
with some brain damage. His trick it was collapsing on
it well, and so he ended up with perry ventricular
(07:13):
lucal malaysia, which is a soft thing of the white
matter of the brain. But he, I mean, he's such
a joy and he's such a happy boy all the time.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
And so speaking of happy I think the one thing
that I noticed in Christmas wishes is that no matter
how bad of a hand that life may have dealt
some people they just have the most positive outlook and
they don't complain and they don't sit around and bemoan
(07:43):
their circumstances. They keep going. And that's kind of I
guess how what you got to do?
Speaker 4 (07:48):
What you say, I think you have to You just
have to stay positive. I mean, there's so plaint in
having If you're negative about the situations, I mean, it
just doesn't help anything, right.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Yeah, you just you've got to be positive. You've got
to keep going. You got to get up and you
got to keep going every single day. It doesn't help
that you lost your dream job not long ago as well.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
It doesn't. Know, it makes seem pretty difficult, but I'll
get you know, there's other dream jobs out there, and
I'll definitely keep pursuing my dreams. And sometimes when you know,
you never fail to keep trying, right, you just find
ten thousand ways that don't work.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Well, we have a bunch of things here that really
the really her description Kayla's description of ease the burdens
and create a joyful and memorable Christmas despite the challenges.
That's what Christmas wish is really all about to ease
those burdens and to create the best possible Christmas with
some help from KATBGB and the people who listen to KTBB.
(08:52):
So let's start off with Jaden. Jaden is your seventeen
year old and we've got some things for him for Christmas.
We've got a yell north Face winter jacket that we
thought he might like. We got black high top Jordan's,
and we got a four hundred dollars Dix gift card. So,
oh my god, whatever he might decide that he wants
over at Dix. Dylan is the one who's thinking about
(09:14):
joining the Air Force. Let me tell you, the Air
Force is a great service. I'm from an air Force
family and they're all great services, but I lean a
little bit toward air Force because I'm biased. But congratulations,
that's awesome. He's eighteen. We've got him some light blue Jordan's,
we got a blue north Face winter jacket, and a
four hundred dollars Dix gift card for him to spend
(09:35):
on whatever he wants over at Dix.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
That is so incredible.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Tell me about Alan. Alan is a car guy, Is
that right?
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Yes? Yeah, he's he's been working hard to try and
make a car dealership work TWR Auto Solutions. So he
left his desk job because he's definitely not a desk
job person. He's a a go getter. So you left
that a couple of years ago to pursue his dream
(10:05):
and started his business. And we're just navigating those waters
and trying to make that work.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
So that's kind of the source of income right now,
is Alan's car business.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I worked. I do have
an amazing job with an amazing boss over at Ivy
Nutrition in Minnetonka, which is is phenomenal and it is fulfilling.
I really truly love providing preventative care to people and
helping with all kinds of ailments.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
And look at this, she's not concerned about herself. She's
busy thinking about other people. Well, for Alan, We've got
some things for Alan. He's into cars. We found him
a book called one Hundred Cars That Changed the World,
and so I think he'll like that one. And then
we got one called A Man in his Car Iconic
Car Stories, and I think this is the one he
(10:59):
might do. Did you guys watched the Vikings game last night?
Speaker 4 (11:02):
We did not know Okay.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Well, you're gonna watch the one in person on December
twenty ninth, because we've got a Justin Jefferson jersey for
Alice for Allen, and four tickets for the Vikings and
Packers game at us Bank Stadium on December twenty ninth.
That's for you, guys.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Okay, oh my god, that's amazing. He's gonna haven't been
to a Vikings game.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
They're gonna love that one. And then we got for you, Ashley,
when you get time, we got a two hundred dollars
Massage Envy gift card, some journals, some candles, a two
hundred dollars Barnes and Noble gift card, and they're gonna
send you over to Lily's Nails over in Saint Louis
Park for one hundred dollars nail gift card. Just kind
of relax and take some time away for yourself for
(11:50):
the family. Tell me about the appliances. Have you had
some problems with sketchy appliances that are not kind of
blink on the blink right now?
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Yes, yes, we actually we ended up from Tayla's and
Garrett's help, we actually got a dish plashure that's a
little too big for the spot right now. And a refrigerator.
We ended up having to take part of the wall
and trim apart to try and get the refrigerator in.
(12:19):
And that's a little big and where we just got
that yesterday and we're trying to determine if it's working
or not.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Well. We have some good news. We have some good
news for you. We're going to send you to home
Depot with a two thousand dollars gift card to get
you whatever you need fridge, dishwater, dishwasher, washer, draw whatever
it is you need for two thousand dollars at home
(12:49):
Depot and I think that'll that should help out with
the appliances. And then we've got an air purified. We've
got one hundred and one dollars gas card courtesy of
Holiday Station Stores. And by the way, today's the last
day for every fuel purchase. Now through today, Holiday Stores
(13:10):
is donating a portion of sales to Christmas Wish. Broadway
Pizza donated one hundred dollars gift card. Take the fam
over to Broadway Pizza and you need groceries, there's four
of you there. We got a three hundred dollars cub
Foods gift card, and I go back to just helping
ease the burden of all of the things that go
on during the holidays. And I hope this helps you out.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Oh my god, this is absolutely amazing.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
I hope you continue to do well, and I hope
your boys continue to do well. And good luck with
Alan and his business. Plug his business one more time.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
It's a TWR Auto Solutions that I'm currently in Big Lake,
but we're looking to relocate hopefully closer to the Twin
Cities area sometime soon.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
And what do they do?
Speaker 4 (14:00):
So he does amazing body work, So if anybody needs
body work, he's he does great body work. And then
he can get cars from auctions, so he has his
dealership bys and so he can buy cars from the
auction and then he fixes them if they need bodywork,
and he sells them. He can do some mechanics stuff too,
(14:23):
so we're looking to expand the business when we can.
And we're always looking for a good mechanics too, so
to work.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
With TWR Auto Solutions. Well, I want to say Ashley,
thanks for letting us jump into the middle of your morning.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Oh no, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
You're so welcome and Kayla, thank you for nominating this
sweet little family who's been through a lot and just
needs a break. They just need a break, they just
need some good news and hopefully this is all good news. Ashley,
the merriest of Christmases to you and your family, and
thank you for listening and thanks for being on KTWB.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Merry Christmas, Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Merry Christmas to you two.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
I owe you the biggest hug in the entire world.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
