Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for another Dave Lyon show for Christmas wish.
We have a couple of wishers in the studio this morning,
Angela and Aliah. Good morning Angela, Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay, Sorry, Lindsay, Yes,
I'm getting names all mixed up. Good morning. Hello and Aaliyah?
How are you good?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
So?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Tell me how you two know each other and how
you know this family that we're helping out. Lindsay.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Ah, So, me and Aliyah and Angela. We went to
nursing school at Bethel University a few years ago and
there's nine of us that became super close and we
have an annual Christmas party with each other and we
continue to get together multiple times a year.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Okay, this year is a little bit different for this family. Absolutely. Okay.
We will read that wish and get to that in
a second, but we want to is Brandon from College
Muscle Movers? Did he already make the commute across town?
He did? Brandon, where are you now? I'm in n Okay?
So you've done some traveling this morning. Brandon, thanks a
lot for helping us out with College Muscle Movers. You

(01:01):
guys have been a great partner. Do you have to
move the rest of the day. Are you working the
rest of the day or you get to go home
and play Xbox?

Speaker 3 (01:08):
I m fortunately go back to that.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Shob Okay, gotcha. Okay, Brandon and College Muscle Movers, they
always give you, guys, a plug. They give you fifteen
free muscle boxes when you move with him in an
on time guarantee. With every move, Brandon, stand by. We
will have you bring in the pride the gifts a
little bit later. But now let's make the phone call too.

(01:30):
This is this is Angela that we're gonna call. Correct,
that's Angela. Okay, let's call Angela now and get her
on the phone for Christmas wish.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
So who's going to read the letter you are this morning?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Okay, sounds good.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
We'll have you a step up to the mic there
while we wait and hopefully now you guys were staying
off air that you had to basically get her shoved
out the door because she stays late at work, so
you had a plan for that as well to get
her home.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Okay, good, I love Thanks Nya. Hi, I'm calling for
Angela please, Oh yeah, I'm here, Hi, Angela. It's Dave
Ryan over at KDWB Radio and we're on the radio
this morning. Everything's good. I've got a couple of your
friends here. I've got Lindsay say Hi, Lindsay, Hi, Angela Hi.

(02:16):
And I've got Aliyah here also say hi, Aliah, Hi,
Angie Hi Oi.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Good?

Speaker 1 (02:23):
What's going What is going on? Would you have any
idea why we're on the radio with your friends this morning?
No idea at all. Well, let's talk for a second. Now.
We do this thing at KATWB. We call it Christmas
Wish where we ask people who listened to tell us
about somebody who has faced a difficult year, some challenges

(02:43):
in life, some obstacles in life. And people write in
about somebody who's you know, they want to help out
and give them merrier Christmas and make things brighter and
give you some, you know, some support and love and compassion.
And so that's what they wrote in. And so they
wrote a beautiful letter about the challenges that you and
your family have been facing this year. And Aliyah is

(03:05):
here on the radio to read you the letter they
wrote about your family. Can she read this for you
to hear? Okay, whenever you're ready, Aliyah.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
My friend Lindsay and I would like to nominate our
good friend, Angela. Angie is an incredible person we met
in nursing school at Bethel University. She's a beautiful Nigerian
woman who shares three lovely kids with her late husband,
mister Ogi. Sadly, mister Ogi passed away this fall after
a long fight with prostate cancer, leaving Angela and her

(03:38):
kids heartbroken. Despite this, Angie continues to work hard as
an urn at Gillette Children's with her mother moving from
Nigeria to help with the kids. Her youngest child has autism,
making things just a little bit more challenging as she
just desperately tries to meet each of their needs. Along
with her existing struggles, the mounting medical bills are making

(04:01):
it increasingly difficult for her to make ends meet, being
in the now solo income for her family. Throughout everything,
Angela has shown amazing strength and a positive attitude that
is truly inspiring. She's the type of woman that's going
to brighten your day amidst her own darkness. Even back
in nursing school, despite her husband's diagnosis, she never let

(04:23):
it affect her studies or her spirit. She's always been
someone we look up to. This Christmas. We wish for
Angela and her family to have a joyful and blessed holiday.
With some help from KJWB, we can help make this
happen and give them the holiday cheer they so deserve.
We love you and Merry Christmas, Angie.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Angie, I'm so sorry about your husband. He has only
been gone for a couple of months now. Yeah, and
so the kids are and you are facing Christmas for
the first time without him around. I can't even imagine,
and the medical bills and the challenges of how many

(05:07):
kids are in the house.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
I have kids, two.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Kids, and mom came from three kids, three kids, and
mom came from Nigeria to help out. And so you're
all there, and you're all still grieving the loss of
of your husband. And the kids are. How old are
your kids?

Speaker 4 (05:28):
My oldest is seventeen? You, oh, the second one or thirteen?
And my my youngest boys alone.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
So we have a thirteen year old, another thirteen year old,
eleven okay, eleven, thirteen, and seventeen. Yeah, and then there's you,
and there's bills and there's challenges. Well, what we do
with Christmas wish is we do more than just call
and wish you. Well, this is where we get to

(05:58):
the honor and the of giving you some things that
might help out with your family. And some of them
have been requested by your friends, and some we came
up with on our own. And these are going to
be delivered to you either right now there's a guy
outside your door, or later today or in the next
couple of days. Let's talk about Olu. How old is Olu?

(06:22):
She's thirteen. Okay, we've got for her. A bunch of
thirteen year old girls are hard to please. I've had
two of them before. But we've got her some things
that we hope that she's gonna like. First of all,
we got her a full body mirror, some winter had gloves, snowpants, coat, boots.
It's been a mild winter so far, but it's gonna

(06:43):
get wintery soon, so we want to take care of that.
We got a Nike Hoop's Elite backpack, a Nike Adult Are,
a cross body bag, two hundred dollars Target gift cards,
so Olu can go down to Target and get whatever
she wants with her gift card. And this is and

(07:04):
then we had heard from your friends. Lindsey said that
there might be a need for new beds in the house.
Is that true? Well, guess what, Angela, We've got a
new twin size bed for Olu that's ordered being sent
to your home. That'll be there with the next the

(07:24):
day or two. Let's talk about Kachi. He is eleven.
So for Kachi we got we got everything from some furniture.
We got a dresser because we thought he might need
a dresser. We've got some like sheets, pillowcases, blankets, things
like that size six slippers. I hope we got that right,

(07:46):
because that's what we heard. Winter gear, coat, pants, hats,
glove from Target. We got him a kindle fire which
sounds pretty cool. I think he'll enjoy that one. And
now you'll have to tell me we got a xylophone
with a case in his stand. Now is there a
reason Lindsey is smiling while I say that. Who wants
to tell me the story about the xylophone with his

(08:07):
case in the stand?

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Angie?

Speaker 2 (08:10):
That's all you.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
I don't know, dud.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
He he got into band because he just he's a
fiscuid so he said he was going to play drums,
so he didn't like the When before he went to
band class, he came with the clarinet, so we were
all shot. He said, a clarinet. What are you doing

(08:38):
with the clarinet? He said, to change his mind, so
he said, I found like a week or two, he
said he didn't like it, that he was gonna do drums,
go back to drums. So we did drums. And then
now he said, on the chima size of our mom,
I want to do dragon phone. I think I prefers.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
I love that so much because my kid also played
drum starting in fifth grade. And one of the requirements
is you had to learn how to play xylophone too,
so that's percussion. It's all in the same department. So
that's cool. That's his. So let's talk about e Hay.
E Hay is seventeen. Yeah, and so we've got, like
I said, some furniture. We've got, we got a desk,

(09:20):
we got a side table, we got the winter gear.
We got an Amazon Echo Dot blue tooth speaker, so
e hey can listen to Katie WB just by saying
Alexa play, Katie'll be on iHeartRadio. And we also got
her a big, obnoxious, forty inch Roku TV, so that's
for her too. So don't worry because Lindsay's gonna come

(09:43):
over and mount that on the wall for you. Okay,
we're coming over after. We've got two piece sweatsuit and
athletic gift card and another bed, another bed, so that
is for e Hay and she is going to love
all that. But for you, Mom, We've also got some
things for you, because you deserve some things too. We've

(10:05):
got a two hundred and fifty dollars home Goods gift card,
slippers when you get a chance, a two hundred dollars
massage Envy gift card, a Shark cordless vacuum. Every house
needs a shark cordless vacuum. And we've got you a
queen sized bed because we heard you could use a
new bed too. Let's not forget Grandma all the way

(10:26):
from Nigeria. We got her some clothing, some slippers, of sweatsuit, boots.
And here's something really cool. This is a little bonus.
We reached out to Wedding Day Diamonds and they got
each lady in the family beautiful diamond stud ear rings
for everybody in the family, so you can show those
off and wear those proudly. That's from Wedding Day Diamonds

(10:46):
and I will give them a plug. That's my new
favorite jewelry store. If you're looking for the perfect Christmas gift,
grab those ear rings. They're all on sale now through
the holidays for all budgets at all nine Wedding Day
Diamonds locations and online at Wedding Day dive Com. We're
not done yet, Angela, have you got another minute? Okay?
We've got one hundred and one dollar gas card donated

(11:09):
by Holiday Station Stores and they are helping out this
year with a Christmas wish this season, give more with

childhood hunger. A portion of every card sold goes to
no kid hungry, so spread joy. Make a difference. Holiday

the tremendous loss that you're family is suffered in the
last few months. What thank you for all the work
that you do. We've heard how dedicated you are at
your job and they had to send you home today

(12:14):
because you wanted to keep working. Is that true? She
sounds a little emotional. Emotional, It does happen. We understand. Hey, listen,
you deserve it. You are There's been a lot of
obstacles that you've had to fight your way through and
we just wanted to put a bright spot in your

Speaker 2 (12:49):

Well, We've got time if you want to come up
with something to say. I'm joking. I think humor kind
of gets us through a lot of hard spots. So hey,
thanks for being on KTIWB. Like I said, a lot
of the beds will be delivered. Anything that's not there
now will be delivered with the next day or two.
