Speaker 1 (00:00):
Believe in the imagine of the Hull days Dave Ryan's
Christmas Wish. Hey, I have a couple of things I mentioned.
First of all, we are on live video on YouTube.
Just go to search Dave Ryan Show and you can
watch video. You can watch the Christmas Wish as it happens,
and you can comment, et cetera, et cetera. Before we
get into Christmas wish, yesterday, at this time, we talked
(00:23):
to a mom named Whitney, and you might remember Whitney.
She was the receiver of the wish. And Whitney had
a little boy who is Dawson. Dawson was nine, just
turned nine a couple of days ago, and you might
remember Dawson's got two siblings, a brother named Elliott and
a little two year old sister named June. And maybe
(00:43):
that sparks a memory. And he has cancer. So yesterday
we had a message like the middle of the night
last night from Mom. She said we had some hard
news about Dawson scans. His team is still putting together
a plan, but it is suspected that his cancer may
have read to his lymph nodes. They will be deciding
the next day if they will be removing them. If
(01:04):
they do, they will test for ostio sarcoma and he
will need to start radiation. I remember he's nine. Yeah,
we only request prayers for him. If you would ask
the listeners to pray for Dawson, it would meet in
the world to us. Thank you again. You gave us
a little piece of happiness and an otherwise really tough
(01:25):
day today. If you are the person to kind of pray,
then then please do for little Dawson nine years old. Yeah,
should be run around the house eating sweet stuff, bothering
his little sister Yea.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
And Nag and mom and dad all the time.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Pa minecraft all of that, and he is has going
a rough road ahead of him. But if you are
the praying kind, then please do. Let's get to today's
Christmas wish from somebody who actually won a razor phone
from katiewed to be a long time ago. Welinda, how
did you win a razor phone? And when did you
win this razor phone?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Gosh, it was back when core Foley used to be here,
so it's probably been.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, she was here from three to seven, so twenty
ish years or so. How did you win to raise
your phone?
Speaker 3 (02:12):
It was the Saint Patti's Day contest, and so it
was that one of the restaurants in Bloomington.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
I honestly can't even remember that ide the time.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, but my brother was really needing a phone at
the time, and I remember hearing about on the radio,
and I was like, I'm gonna go win that phone.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
I'm putting it out there, I'm going to go get it.
And so I went. I went to the event.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
It was like early in the morning, and I happened
to get chosen for the contest. I answered all the
questions correctly about Corey Foley thinking to her dog or
something like that along the lines, and I happened to
pick the right door and won the phone.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Wow, wow, look at that. I am so glad that.
It's funny how Katie bib has kind of woven into
the fabric of so many people's lives, whether they've won
a car or a phone, or a T shirt or
a CD or just listen to the show or whatever.
That is super cool. You probably didn't expect yourself to
ever be on Christmas Wish.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
No, I've been listening for a long time, and thankfully
I didn't have a need to ever nominate anyone and
so I've been trying to think about my friend and
trying to think about something meaningful for her for a
few months now, and then when I heard about Christmas wish,
it just like retriggered that as a possible option.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
So I just figured I would submit a nomination and
see what happens.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
We're gonna call your friend Sarah here in a minute,
but I want to check in with our boy Brandon
from College Muscle Movers. Brandon, what's up? Thanks for doing
this again? Good morning. How many years have you done this? Brandon?
Let's be year four, year number four. Brandon gets up
early and in his own time, drives out all these
(03:44):
different wishes with boxes full of stuff, whether it's a
laundry basket full of stuff or a box of stuff
or gift cards or whatever. Brandon, thank you for what
you do. We really appreciate you and your team over
at College Muscle Movers. If you are moving, make sure
you keep in mind College Muscle Movers and be like, hey,
(04:06):
you're Brandon. I heard you on the radio.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
I heard you on the radio.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
All right, here we go. Let's call Sarah right now.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
So Sarah and you know each other because your kids
play softball.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Correct, Yes, that's Brad. Yeah, okay, and so you've known
her for a couple of years now.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, well our daughters who have played together for three
seasons now, got it right.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
I love how friendship forms from things like that, like
your softball leagues, your kids are in softball together.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
This is always suspenseful part.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
I know she's completely unsuspecting.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So and because we do these live you never know
if they're going to answer the phone. We always tell,
you know, we always try to set it up so
they will answer the phone, but sometimes they don't. And
that's when Brandon comes in and goes knocks on the door.
All right, Brandon, let's get Brandon on the phone here. Brandon,
(05:04):
you are on duty. Brandon. How long will it take
you to walk to the front door and ring the doorbell?
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Brandon, I'm just getting parked right now.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I'm getting parked right now. Okay, So we give you
a little mascara alert. You never know what's going to
happen during Christmas wish. But while we're waiting for Brandon
to get to the front door, and that's our backup
plan is for him to knock on the door, ring
the doorbell. I want to thank a couple of sponsors.
First of all, yesterday we raised during match day fifteen
thousand dollars. That's before the match, and we were hoping
(05:35):
yesterday to maybe get ten thousand dollars in our wildest dreams.
Fifteen thousand dollars. Yes, the power of radio and the
power of this big old radio station and the people
who listen to it. Wow, that is amazing.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Thank you so much for donating.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yes, absolutely. And then thank also to Treasure Island Resort
and casino and holiday station stores. And oh wait, I
thought I heard a knock. Are you knocking Brandon the gate?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Okay, there's a little gate situation. He's got to get
through that. Belinda was telling me about.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Imagine getting a knock on your door at seven ten
in the morning. I'd be nervous. This is the great thing.
Hello are you Sarah?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Oh what?
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Oh? Dog? Who's here? Okay? Something something crazy is going
on over there. That is what happens Christmas Live. This
is think about Christmas Live. We do it completely live
as you can tell.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
Hey, oh hello.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Hello is this Sarah? Yeah, Sarah, good morning. This is
Dave Ryan over at KATIBB. We're on the air right now,
and we are here with your friend Belinda, so you'll
believe me.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Say Hi Belinda, Hi, Sarah, Hi Belinda.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
I'm sorry about the ruckus trying to get into the
house this morning, but that is Brandon from college Muscle
Moversould you have any idea why we might be calling
you today?
Speaker 5 (07:21):
I have no idea, no idea.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Well, we're about to tell you. We do something on
kat WB. We've done it for years and it's called
Christmas Wish where we ask for people to tell us
about a family that might be struggling for whatever reason
this year. And your friend Belinda talk to us about
you and your challenges for this year. And she wrote
(07:46):
us a letter. Have you got a minute? I know
it's kind of unexpected. Have you got a minute to
hear her letter?
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Okay, whenever you're ready, Belinda. Okay.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Dear the Dave Ryan Morning Show or show, I would
like to nominate my friends Sarah and her daughter's Kaylee
five Kiara nine for Dave Ryan's Christmas Wish. In May
of this year, Sarah's fiancee Danny passed away suddenly and
unexpectedly in his sleep at the age of thirty two.
Danny was the kind of dad who poured his heart
into everything he did, especially when it came to his daughters.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
He loved them both fiercely.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Kiley was his only biological child, but he never treated
Kia as anything less than his own blood. Kira didn't
even know that he wasn't her biological dad until after
his death, and she simply said, he's my dad. That
statement encapsulates the deep bond they shared. Danny coached three
seasons of Kia's softball team and a season of soccer
(08:40):
for Kaylee. He was a constant presence in their lives,
always there, always loving and caring. Since Danny's passing, Sarah
has done everything she can to support her daughters and
navigate their grief, all while managing her own heartache. She
gave up her job working nights and found a job
at their school so she could be closer to her daughters,
(09:01):
who now struggle with anxiety and fear of due to
their loss. Even the thought of something as simple as
trick or treating became overwhelming for Kira because every time
she hears scream, she instantly thinks the worst. Sarah has
remained strong, not for her daughters, but oh for herself
as well. She has stepped outside of her natural introversion
to connect with people in the community to maintain the
(09:22):
relationships Danny started so their daughters still have a network.
Danny was in the process of remodeling their home when
he passed away, focusing on the girl's bedroom first. Sarah
is doing everything she can to carry out his work,
but finishing the rooms has become hard to prioritize without
the income support she once had. This Christmas, my wishes
(09:43):
to help ease the pain of going through their first
Christmas without Danny. I would love for them to have
a weekend get away to a hotel at the water
park where they can unwind and have fun, or alternatively,
a gift card to a home improvement store so Sarah
can finish the girl's bedroom, the project that Danny started,
giving them a space to feel connected to the memories
(10:03):
of their dad. I would greatly appreciate your consideration in
granting this wish for Sarah, Kaylee, and Kira. They deserve
a Christmas filled with joy, love, and a little bit
of healing. Much love from all the Coon Rapids, fash
pitch softball moms.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Ah, that's great, that was so sweet, Sarah. I think
there's a lot of people who love and support you
and and your Your husband was only thirty two when
he passed. Is that right?
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Thirty two Yeah, and left behind a little girl. And
let me tell you something, little girls, if everything's going right,
little girls love their dads so much until they're about twelve.
Then it's And how old is is Kaylee?
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Kayleie is five and Kira is nine.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
So they and and he treated Kiara just like his
own daughter. Coach what coach softball? Is that right? Coach
or softball team?
Speaker 5 (11:07):
Yeah? She plays softball because of him. He played softball
all his life and he was so happy when she
started playing.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm so sorry for
your girls. But we with Christmas wish, we just try
to throw a little joy in there to make things
a little bit easier and also to let you know
that you're loved and cared about and supported. So let's
start up with some things for Let's start off with
for the family, for the family, and you use these
things when you want and if you want. And there's
(11:36):
some things we're throwing in here. We got tickets to
the Glow Holiday festival. That's a walk through gift card
that'll get you into the Big Miracle, that Big Rock
this holiday season that is really cool. Experience good old
fashioned family fun like never before Christmas lights, food trucks, artisans, sledding, s'mores, fireworks,
cocktails and more. That's now through January fourth. Let's talk
(11:56):
about the girls. Let's talk about little Let's start off
with Kira first. Check this out. We have one free
private pitching lesson for her at Complete Game. Thanks to
Katie for donating this service. So that's awesome. A two
hundred dollars Dick Sporting Goods gift card. Two hundred dollars
(12:17):
in the hands of a nine year old. I just
love this. We had a blue Stanley mug, not a knockoff,
but it's a genuine Stanley mugg. We got softballs, batting gloves,
athletic clothing. We got an ug fuzzy comforter ug, pillows,
a sheet set. Does she like Taylor Swift?
Speaker 5 (12:34):
She loves her?
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Okay. We got a couple of vinyls for her, the
collectible vinyls. Yes speak now in nineteen eighty nine. Don't
let her scratch those up. Those are worth a lot
of money. Kayley is your five year old and that
is his biological daughter. For Kaylee, we have we got
some cool stuff. We got some dolls, we got some
playto we got little kid stuff, a bunch of clothes,
(12:57):
a soccer net, a soccer ball, she's into soccer. Yeah, yeah,
and even a Hello Kitty, which I just love it
with through in a Hello Kitty. Who is the dog?
The dog that we heard in the background. What's the
dog's name?
Speaker 5 (13:09):
Her name is Lily.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
She sounds like a yellow lab. Was that a yellow lab? Yes? Whoa?
That was crazy. So we got Lily the yellow Lab,
a bunch of dog trees and toys and a kong
and the rope that you chew on and all that stuff.
So that's for for Lily too, and then for you
(13:31):
just and this is all just you know, because we
just want to spread some love and show you that
you're loved and supported. So for you, Mom, Sarah, we
got one hundred dollars one hundred one dollar gas card
from Holiday station stores and by the way, for every
fuel purchase now through December seventeenth, they're donating a portion
of sales to Christmas Wish. One hundred dollars gift card
(13:52):
to Broadway Pizza. They did. They didn't. We didn't even
ask them. Broadway Pizza just wrote in and said, Hey,
here's a stack of hud your dollar gift cards given
to your Christmas wish people. Three hundred dollars athleta gift card. Okay,
and you've done. Tell me a little bit about like
the home repairs and remodeling and painting around the house.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Well, my daughter wanted to like switch her room like
a year and a half after we moved in here,
so we had an extra room downstairs, and we had
started like taking the old paint off and like fixing
the trimmings and stuff, and we got about like three
fourths of it painted before he passed away. And it's
(14:38):
just for me to do on my own. It's has
been a lot of work, even just trying to like
finish setting that room up, or like even moving all
of her furniture over.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
I understand. Well, to help you out a little bit,
we've got a five hundred dollars Home Depot gift card
or whatever paint supplies, ladders, brush is whatever you need
for five hundred dollars from Home Depot. Your friend Belinda
mentioned that it would be fun for you and the
girls to go off to a water park and a
hotel for the weekend. Well, guess what Treasure Island has
(15:13):
got that set up for you. It is a two
nights staycation package, two hotel rooms for Lagun water. Yeah,
they got a water park down there that's just awesome.
It's called the Lagoon Lagoon Water Park. We had passes
for both nights. We're gonna send you bowling to go
bowling down there. And we got two hundred dollars to
buy fattening snacks while you're down here. So and this
(15:36):
is and this is all part of a Christmas wish
just to kind of cheer up the girls. And I
know that you're busy and times are tight, and I
want to tell you something right now. If we ask
for people to volunteer to go over and finish that
paint job, I know we get them. I know we
get them. I'm volunteering font Yeah it is really good.
But the podcast want will come over. But we just
want to give you a little love and a little
(15:56):
support for your holiday and for you and for the girls.
Speaker 5 (15:59):
Okay, oh my, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
You're so welcome. We're so sorry for your sudden loss.
I mean, we can't even imagine what a hard loss
that is. But there are so many people that support you.
And we want to thank Belinda, who is crying right
now tears, for letting us know about your wish. And
I'll let you say goodbye to Belinda.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
Oh my good Belinda. Thank you so much. Oh you're welcome,
so supportive over like this past fall in summer, and
honestly it's a blessing to have you in our life.
Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
You're welcome.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Thank you, Sarah, have the best possible Christmas, and thank
you for listening and being on KTWB.
Speaker 5 (16:43):
Thank you guys, you are welcome.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
That's Christmas wish on one on one point three else.
Speaker 6 (16:49):
And Katie, beautiful family living with the unbearable fact that
their son Zachary needs a kidney transplant for the second
time in his short almost eight years of life.
Speaker 7 (17:00):
You remember me, I sat upon your knee, I wrote
you childhood fantasy.
Speaker 8 (17:14):
Because of me, as mounting medical bills, she is unable
to provide for her two wonderful boys with Christmas this year,
and it's putting her in a depression that she doesn't
need right now.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
On July twenty second, her life was turned upside down.
Her husband of nine months was taken from her in
a boat crash. Live to end time with you.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Her husband passed away while waiting for a her transplant
when her daughters were three and six years.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Old, and she lost her cell phone in the crash
and had to walk.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
A mile and had to walk walk with her shop
her leg.
Speaker 9 (17:59):
Yeah, is the epitome of strength, courage, maturity and character.
Speaker 7 (18:05):
This is my groom.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Christmas is that Zach?
Speaker 10 (18:14):
Oh, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
You're more than welcome. It's people like you that we
love to grant Christmas wishes for Oh thank you?
Speaker 11 (18:21):
Oh my god, that's amazing.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
What is this illusion?
Speaker 7 (18:26):
Cord innsensity? Lady only le.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Can we have a find the good things can happen
to you with Christmas wish?
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (18:45):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
So we're going to work on some of the other things.
Speaker 9 (18:52):
Here.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Can you make it in? I hear kids squealing.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
Torn let wars would never start.
Speaker 12 (19:09):
And time would yill?
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Oh my god, I love you.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, man, we have a quez.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Of that right little is.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Will and love with never.
Speaker 6 (19:34):
Thank you, Katie.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
This is Michael.
Speaker 12 (19:38):
Muscles.
Speaker 7 (19:40):
This is my only long.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
This is my.
Speaker 7 (19:48):
Christmass.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
This is just unbelievable. It doesn't stop. Thank you so much,
You're more than welcome. Christmas wish on KD double B.
(20:13):
A few text messages that was very touching one and
it was you know, they lost their dad. Two little
girls and mom lost their dad just last earlier this year.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Yeah, and he's only.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Thirty two and they just love dad and dad coach softball.
And you just can't if you grew up with your
dad and you loved your dad, can you imagine your
dad just all of a sudden he's gone. Yeah, and
you're five, You can't even imagine it. So again, count
your blessings. Text messages just lovely. Starting at my day sobbing.
(20:47):
I can't imagine being a little little girl and losing
my dad at such a young age. Thank you all
for making this family's Christmas a little bit better. You
guys are the best. From Carmen, there's an offer from
somebody who works in the runs a home depot. They're like, hey,
what can we do to help out? And I said,
well you can send in some gift cards. So they're
gonna do that one and so thank you for listening
(21:09):
to Christmas Wish more coming up every day right up
until the Friday before Christmas online KDW dot com slash wish.
We will be right back. Commercial free coming up, we'll
do Dave's Dirt and we got I don't know, Vonn's
gonna stir the pot, and we'll be right back on
k w A Dave Ryan Show one on one point
(21:31):
three kd WB. Let's do the dirt. Brought to you
by Nicolay Law Offices. Britney Spears says she is turned
five and is to go to kindergarten. Yep, here she is.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
I'm not turning forty two. I'm turning to five this year.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
I'm turning five years old and I have to go
to kindergarten tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
So weird.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
It's weird, and I feel I still feel bad for her.
I feel like that she was a smart, young, talented
business woman back when she was twenty twenty five, and
I think that just being used and over sexualized and
then getting older and then giving in horrible relationships has
just damaged her.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
That kind of messed her up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
I really feel that's true.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
So I feel like.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Her and Amanda Byns have been some of the worst
that came out of that like generation that really got
damaged by the industry. But now we look at Lindsay
Lohan and she has made quite the comeback. She hasn't
she Absolutely she has. Like a really good movie. I
just watched it last night called Our Little Secret, I
watch on Netflix. It's really good, actually, I mean it's
like a little bit It's not like your corny Hallmark movie.
(22:45):
It's actually like a decent plot. It's good acting, and
I feel like she looks great. I mean, she went
through a period of time where she looked like she
was on drugs and stuff, and now she looks much
about barely sent me a whole TikTok on, like the
transformation of her face. Oh yeah, like Jenny is the
way she looks now. But she came back from I.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Think it's like some people can recover from alcoholism, you
know what I mean. And here's a weird comparison. Brittany
has not been able to recover. It doesn't seem like
from her about with fame and being overly sexualized. And
Lindsay Lowan, as much as we used to laugh at her,
it looks like she was able to overcome it right.
Speaker 9 (23:22):
But then she did have a down period too, So
I mean there's hope. Maybe Britney's just can turn it
all around absolutely.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Taylor Swift wraps up the Airs tour on Sunday in
Vancouver and ticket sales start at resales anyway started one
thousand dollars, and then she celebrates turning thirty five on
December thirteenth. Apparently US Weekly delves into her future plans,
personal and professional. So let's see what we got here.
(23:50):
Travis and Taylor talked about the next steps in their romance.
Both would love to be engaged, but they are not
rushing it. That's not a quote from them, that's a
quote from US Weekly magazine. They've had only short first
equality time between his NFL seasons while she toured. She
started the Era's tour having just ended a six year romance. Remember,
(24:10):
finding Travis was sweet relief, and the Swifties are one
hundred percent in support. The source said, it can be
lonely at the top, Travis brighton this tour for Taylor,
she is looking forward to the end of the tour,
but there are hints that she might hit the road
in twenty twenty six. They say she's exhausted, she's excited
for some relaxation in downtime. She told her team to
(24:32):
give her one year to see how things go in
her personal life. You talk about somebody who deserves some
time off, does not need the money, and really has
no danger of going away. This is one of the
really hard parts. You look at Demi Levado and they
are a classic example of you go away for a
few minutes. Somebody else has read it as slide in
your place. Absolutely.
Speaker 13 (24:50):
I still would never put Demi Levado on the same
level of Taylor.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Swor No, no, no, no question. But that's the problem.
Taylor Swift could go away for three years and if
she came back, she'd still be Taylor Swift. Dimmy Levado
went away for six months and was replaced by you know,
Starlet B. Starlet B. I love her, Starlet B.
Speaker 9 (25:10):
That ought to be your name, right, Because Taylor Swift
has like ingrained herself. She has woven herself into the
fashion of America at this point of the world, so
she could leave it and come back if we wouldn't
even realize it.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Let see what else we got here? All American rejects
you and me, dirty little, dirty little. It was originally
written not to sound that way. Here's a little bit
more detail.
Speaker 11 (25:36):
It was written as kind of country acoustic song, used
to swing like ding ding ding ding ding.
Speaker 13 (25:44):
And so the way I strummed it just yeah, made
it sound like a Tom Petty B side.
Speaker 11 (25:49):
Let's just play this as straight as possible. I love them,
me too, I do too.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
I've heard though that if you're a songwriter, it's kind
of like a legend of the music industry, or just
is a pattern. You write a song and then by
the time you hear the ari on a grande version,
you're like, what they do to my song? I mean seriously,
they will turn it around and crank it out and
reverse it and smack it, flip it, rub it down,
swop ito it, twist it, turn it. So that is
(26:25):
really interesting, all right. That is the Dirt brought to
you by Nicolay Law Offices, the home of Christmas Wish.
Hey an update. I want to give you an update
because I appreciate you so much. It really amazes me
how radio is such a community and we do a
live show every day. We all live here in town,
and we participate in town and you and you participate
(26:49):
in the radio station by donating yesterday to Christmas Wish.
We got fifteen thousand dollars yesterday, fifteen six hundred and
sixty one. Baby wow. So once we double that with
Treasure Island, who also are members of the community. That's
the great thing about radio because I can tell you
I love a podcast, but a podcaster is not from here.
And if they're from here, then they're obviously not very good.
(27:11):
That's a joke. Now that's a joke.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Jo podcasts here, that's.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
A joke, so terrible. It's a joke. But I mean
Spotify can't do that. Spotify cannot, Katie WB and podcast
cannot Katie WB. Only radio can Katie w B. And
I really felt that yesterday. That was super cool. So
(27:37):
thank you, and Christmas Wish continues. We'll do another one
tomorrow morning. Yeah, like seven forty five tomorrow morning. Let's
do a little stuff that we call think Fast. Here
we go with think Cast. It is just a little
pop quiz of quick questions. We try to jump in
before the opponent and you get to play along too.
Jenny is hosting who his opponent team.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Jim da versus Bailey today. Right here we go, this
is a very Christmas wintery themed one. Name one of
Buddy the ELFs food groups that wow, Oh you candy,
thank you food groups? That's I suppose And you said
syrup or shirt sugar. Yeah, I needed to see one.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Candy, corn, candy, canes, candy and syrup.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
That is correct, something like that canes.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
Anyways, okay, name a Christmas movie that.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
Starts with R.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Come on, guys, oh wow, this is like one of.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
The most classic cartoons of all time.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
My god, Literally, all.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
I'm thinking is the word racey, racy, Christmas all that
one today?
Speaker 4 (28:44):
You guys, name a gift to give someone at Christmas
that starts with a G gift GPS, so it needs
to be more specific than that.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Barely. I'm sorry, I'm not accepted it. People not give
those anyway.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Bad for the garment people because they had such a
great product it in their iPhone.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
I was looking for gift card which, speaking of Holiday
station stores, is donating a portion of any gift card
that you purchase right now to no Kid Hungry. So
if you want to get a gift card out Holiday
station stores, they will donate to no kid hungry.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Name a singer with popular Christmas songs that starts with B. Crosby, Yes,
Bailly coming in.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
I think I strained something wowing.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
That something you keep in your car in the winter
that starts with an eye Yes, good job.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Bailly has too.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Dave has one something you might do on Christmas Eve
that starts.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
With a B.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Bake cookies.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
That's nice.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Say that, good job, fo Cokie.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Nod d Christ was born rist.
Speaker 10 (29:59):
You Okay they Unfortunately I'm not going to give you
that point, but I appreciate the effort.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
But he did got bake cookies, so he did, all right.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
A holiday decoration that starts with a T, Yes, Bailey, Yes,
I was close though. A four letter word that starts
with S. Some I will take it because I didn't specify.
I was looking for snow because it was winter theme.
But yes, the song works because I didn't specify.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Christmas carols. Christmas carols, all right.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
A family activity you might do around Christmas that starts
with a G.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
Bailey, Yes, slurred it out at the same time.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
What did you say to gifting or something gets.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Start with a B or a G? Okay.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
A Christmas flower that starts with a P.
Speaker 9 (30:59):
I like your accident, Bailey, Babity Bobby.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
Something Santa loves that starts with an M.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Yes, Bailey.
Speaker 9 (31:13):
Six points the real.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
They do exist?
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
A good excuse to give for being late to work
in the winter that starts with S.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Yeah, okay, good. Bailey has six. Dave has four.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
Game point for Baiby.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Something you'd wear in the winter that starts with a B.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Bolo tie Yes, boots, yeah, boots, boots.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Sorry, it was so good.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Game point for Bailey. Dave has four.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
We're gonna move on to rhyme time, so just please
give me anywhere that rhymes with this word winter splinter.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Yes, yeah, I never win. This is so exciting for me.
I'd like to think of my mom.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Here comes around just for you while you're driving, or
while you're on the bus, or while you're making breakfast, whatever,
for you and your friend or your dog. Here we go.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
We're going to continue on with rhyme time.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Else Dave on a shelf?
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Yeah, lights? What is lights?
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Bond fights?
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Good job? Missiletoe.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
There's a word that rhymes with missiletoe.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
I kind of Nicki Minaj this one. I think blister toe,
I put camelte, I don't know. Okay, all right, last one.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
I glue?
Speaker 3 (32:51):
What?
Speaker 2 (32:52):
What in my mind these words rhymed with I glue?
Speaker 9 (32:58):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Never mind?
Speaker 10 (33:00):
What do you have?
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Nope? And you say if you say bock, No, that
wasn't what I was gonna say.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
But I'm not say just like blue egg glue blue.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
That's only the second syllable. Put kazoo in there. Kazoo
does not rhyme with iglu.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
It does if I was wrapping it.
Speaker 13 (33:16):
Technically, campbelltoe and mittletold don't either because they both have toe.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Tote does ride with toe, Jennifer.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Whatever, when I was tired last night.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
All right, that's everything, Thank you very much. Text messages
garments are still widely used in the semi truck world.
Speaker 12 (33:34):
What do you know?
Speaker 1 (33:35):
All right? I don't think Bailey and vont got the
bell bibde Vaux reference, but I absolutely loved it, Dave. No,
you did not smack it, flip it, rub it down?
Oh no, nobody got that. The only BBD song I
know is poison. Isn't that a think?
Speaker 3 (33:49):
So?
Speaker 1 (33:49):
Yeah? Garments smart watches are popular.
Speaker 9 (33:53):
This one's saying Bailey slurring like she's five drinks in
and Dave's like a thirteen year old that learned a
new naughty word.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
This really does feel like Christmas.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
I love it all right, I have I want to
run that. Bailey was hesitant to talk about this, but
can I leave some details out here? Give me the
am I the jerk story? Because this is something that
a lot of people are experiencing when you go to
the movie theater. What happened?
Speaker 9 (34:16):
I had a friend who went to go see Wicked,
and right in front of his seat, like Kitty Corner,
someone was on their phone for the majority of the movie,
texting and watching Instagram reels. And he wanted to do
something about that movie during the movie, during the not
during the previews, now okay, during the full movie, just
sitting on the phone. And it got to a point
(34:38):
where he was like, you know what, I have to
say something. So that's what we're going to talk about.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
A thought we were teasing it, we're doing right now.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Yeah. So, my friend Nick went to go see Wicked.
Speaker 9 (34:50):
This person in front of him is scrolling on their
phone like the whole movie, and he said, you know what,
at least their brightness is down, so it's just a
little distracting, but it's not the thing in the world.
But then it got to like the nearing the end,
and he knows this big giant number is coming up
that he really wants to enjoy. So he's gonna be like, okay, lady,
(35:10):
get off your phone. But she's far enough away that
he's not gonna go like sipst or anything like that.
So he just takes his popcorn and he throws like
one at her. I love the mature, I know, and
then it doesn't hit her, so he throws another one
at her, and then throws another one, and then he
throws like three, and one hits her phone that she's
sitting on good, and she turns around and gives him
(35:32):
this super dirty look, and then he's like, mounts, get
off your phone. And so instead she retaliates by turning
her brightness all the way up on her phone with
such like a snotty look on her face or whatever.
So she turns up the brightness, turns around and continues
scrolling on her phone. So he said he took an
(35:53):
entire handful of popcorn and bossed it good good, and
then she was like a set and I guess she
did turn off her phone, and somebody next to him
said like, thank you so much for doing that, because
no one else was gonna say anything, and no one
else had sent anything to her this entire time.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I couldn't believe it, though, when he was telling me
that he threw popcorn at her.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
I love that Nick did that. I don't know, Nick,
but I never had a really bad experience in a
movie theater yea, and people are like, oh yeah, people
are talking on their phones or scrolling on their phones
during the movie. I've never seen that. And I don't know.
Maybe I've just looked out, or maybe I'm go to
the theater in smarter parts of town or something. I
don't know, but I've never had that problem. But how
does anybody not realize, y, you can't. How do you
(36:38):
not in twenty twenty four not realize you don't do
that right?
Speaker 9 (36:40):
And that's what he was trying to get at too, Like, Okay, texting, sure,
he can understand, like if you're texting, but she was
like scrolling on Instagram reels, like you're watching.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
Something else during the movie that you paid money on.
I don't know. He didn't tell me whether or not
the sound.
Speaker 9 (36:56):
I think if the sound was on, it wasn't loud
enough to be distracting, But like the scroll itself is
distracting and I can't even imagine.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Yeah, one more question.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Maybe you don't know this answer either, but were there
other open seats in them the Okay, my Minnesota passive
aggressive ass would have just moved seats and like tried
to get far as far away from her as I could.
Speaker 9 (37:16):
Seeing my passive aggressive ass would have gotten up and
tattled on that yes, gone during sentimental man, Get up,
go and find somebody to be like, Hey, somebody's on
their phone because you come kick them out.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
Yeah, me and Bailey are the same person.
Speaker 13 (37:27):
I'm not gonna sit in a theater on my phone
that I paid money to go see, But your friend, Nick,
I'm not throwing popcorn that I also paid good money for.
I'm just gonna go be petty and then I might
disrupt people, but not as bad as this woman probably is.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Well, what do you think would be the most effective thing?
Because I was at the theater once and I don't
remember exactly, but somebody was talking and a loud, male,
strong voice from the back says like something like shut
up right now, and it worked. It worked because people
were like, oh damn, there's somebody who shut up right now.
Speaker 9 (38:01):
So you need to have somebody like a Dave Ryan
Deep voicer to be like, shut up right now.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
If it was me, shut up right now, they'd be like,
you shut up. I'd be like, okay.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
See. I wouldn't do that though, because number one, you
never know whether they're crazy. Yeah, so I don't think
your friend was a jerk at all. I loved it
for throwing popcorn at this.
Speaker 9 (38:19):
I just like, how petty the whole handful of popcorn
all at once.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
Oh I would ever, I would be scared for the
retaliation of that. So that's why I would never go
that route. I don't think he's a jerk for doing it.
I just personally would be scared.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
You No, I get that. Yeah, well then who could
get kicked out? Are you gonna get kicked that kicked
out for your brightness up or for throwing popcorn? Probably
get both of you kicked out? Text messages Basically, Bailey's
friend went to the movie, woman had her brightness up
on the phone watching reels. During the movie, he threw
popcorn at her. And then she finally turned the brightness
up to be petty, and then she finally turned it down.
(38:54):
I think text messages I said could be worse. I
saw a movie last weekend, bunch of little kids. One
kept farting directly behind us. Almost lost my appetite in
popcorn between farts. We had somebody vaping in front of
us at the Minions movie. What are people doing?
Speaker 10 (39:12):
Why?
Speaker 12 (39:12):
Wow?
Speaker 13 (39:13):
Eventually it was gen z. They love just vaping anywhere
and everywhere in anywhere. That's so weird, especially inside.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Last winter, my boyfriend and I were with his and
his partners went to the Radio City Rockets Christmas special
in NYC. And they say over and over, no recording,
no phones. The guy in front of us recorded the
whole thing. I was so angry, but I didn't want
to go Karen on him.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
That sucks, but it doesn't really bother me. I guess I.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
Think that in those instances, though, you should tell someone,
because it is a pretty strict rule in like circ
disillat shows and certain kind of shows like that, that
you can't.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Be recording that.
Speaker 13 (39:48):
Yeah, but if there's nobody there to try to stop me,
I'm not saying habitually no. But I'm just like, nobody's
gonna stop me from pulling my phone on every once
in a while. But yeah, I'm not going to record
the whole thing trying to bootleg the movie.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
That's dumb. Nick is an American hero, says this text
at KATWB one. How many friends does he happen? Does
he want one more?
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Think it's really fun?
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Here's one Nita. When Nita is a big supporter of
the show, she says, two months ago, went to AMC,
same thing happened to the theater kid about nineteen years old,
but instead of popcorn, I took a Reese's cup the
king sized Reese's cup and threw it and hit his phone.
See I can't do that.
Speaker 13 (40:22):
You know how much snacks at the movie theaters cost.
I'd rather just confront somebody or go tell somebody listen
to this. One years ago, this is a text at
KDWB one. Somebody's clipping their toe nails in the movie
theater like all ten nails?
Speaker 1 (40:37):
What's wrong with? What is wrong? Why do people think
this is grey? Ashley from a professional theater employee, what's
your take on everything? Ashley?
Speaker 12 (40:48):
Good morning, morning, My family is in the movie theater business,
and absolutely he had every right to do what he
needed to do. However, the better way to handle that
is go get a manager. They'll come in. They'll either
talk to them or ask them to leave. Because most
theaters nowadays have a rule against it. And it says
it right on the screen before the.
Speaker 7 (41:08):
Movie even it does.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
It warns you please turn down your your your your
device or whatever.
Speaker 13 (41:15):
Isn't that when the Cole Kidman says, yes, that's part
of her speech.
Speaker 12 (41:20):
You paid good money for that popcorn? Popcorn?
Speaker 1 (41:23):
Right, yes, yes, say that? What do you think about that?
The Cole Kidman trailer before she comes she comes to
the movie, she's over she's way over dressed, and then
she goes up here it's real because it's real or
something like that. Yes, why do you lecture Jenny? Because
(41:47):
Jenny still sneaks snacks into movies And I told Jenny,
I said, you get to support your local theater by
not sneaking your own Jimmy Johns into the movie. Will
you'd lecture Jenny for a.
Speaker 12 (41:56):
Minute, Yeah, Jenny's at the movie. Theaters make their money.
They make their own money on their ticket.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
Well, the good news.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
The good news for y'all is that I really don't
go to the movies almost ever, so hopefully I'm not
taking too much money from you, and I would never
do it to you.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
I would never do it to you.
Speaker 4 (42:11):
I will come and buy your snacks at the theater
that your family owns.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
Yeah, Ashley, we got you.
Speaker 12 (42:16):
We love to hear that.
Speaker 1 (42:17):
Yes, yes, that's what I told them, Ashley. I said,
you like taking money and you taking food out of
Ashley's mouth whenever you're bringing your own dots. But she
wasn't listening. Thank you, Ashley. Somebody else on the phone here, TJ. Hi, TJ.
Speaker 9 (42:31):
Good.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
We were talking about Bailey's friend was at Wicked the
other day. Somebody was had their phone up on Bright
scrolling and and so he threw popcorn and then it
got into a big thing. What did you want to
add to this, TJ.
Speaker 12 (42:45):
Well, yeah, it is rude for.
Speaker 8 (42:47):
Them to be on the phone.
Speaker 12 (42:48):
If they're talking, you got to tell someone.
Speaker 13 (42:49):
But you're throwing food or drink some people technically for salt,
and we would have to kick.
Speaker 5 (42:54):
That personnel because if you throw something and it hits someone.
Speaker 12 (42:57):
Else, and if they're I or you know, what I mean,
You've got to be very careful about that. We always
just tell people just come let one of the ushers know,
and a manager will come cap around the book on
her shoulder.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
I'm gonna do that next time. I've never had that
happen before, TJ, but I will. I'll go get the man.
Really yeah, I went to go.
Speaker 9 (43:16):
I think I went move to Twilight, probably at midnight
back in high school. And we had this like big
group of boys that were there who were clearly seeing
it as a joke, and they were talking and laughing
and being rambunctious and super annoying, and so I got
up and went and that tattled on them, and it
was really great to watch all this group of boys
(43:38):
get up and have to leave the theater with the
manager and everyone cheered.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
Oh that's all.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
It was so good. I felt so righteous in that moment.
Speaker 1 (43:45):
I love that. Thanks for all the phone calls on that.
We appreciate it. We'll be back in a second. Here's
what we're gonna do. I don't know if it's to
talk back, is we're just going to talk about it.
These are presents that old people get for Christmas. In
other words, not that they see, but they get for
you because older people a lot of time they're on
kind of like a slimmer budget, and they don't always
(44:06):
know what you want, so they will get you the
most bizarre thing, like a taxidermy toad, and they'll be like, oh, yeah, hi, Jenny, Yeah,
this is from your grandma Helen. She got you a
taxidermy toad. What do you think? And you're like, this
is the worst present everage, Oh Grandma, thank you. So
I want to help you talk to us about the
(44:27):
weird presence that your old people got you, and will
do that next on KADWB
