Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thanks for the little spike in donations in the last
couple of minutes. I think if I can guilt you
into doing something, guilt is such a great motivating factor.
It's kind of like, you know, if your mom says, well,
I'm not going to live forever, you might as well
bring the grand kids.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
You know, that type of thing. Guilt.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I'm sure mom Ronda guilt you into all kinds of things.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
I'm sure maybe she probably does it so covertly that
I don't even notice.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
We get really good at it. It's like, oh, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
You know, Susan's out of town for the weekend, but
I'll be okay over here all by myself. I will
say to Alison. Next thing you know, she's pulling up
with the kids.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
He's like, skirt, mo, right, I guess we're visiting Papa.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
So one of the things we found out it is
public knowledge. And I remember hearing this one that some
of the kids from I believe seven of the kids
from Annunciation were cared for here at Children's Minnesota.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
Yeah, a lot of people went to HCMC as well,
but Children's took in a lot of the kids and
they got them back upon their feet, and so far
we've heard that most of them are good, and.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
I don't think anyone believes yet.

Speaker 5 (00:59):
Yeah, they've all been really but you know, Children's is
just really it's such a huge part of the community
here in the Twin Cities, and so we our goal
here is to make it make their jobs easier to
help as many kids as they possibly can.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
So that's why we are starting to.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
Beg for donations, because we just really really want to
do as much money as we can to give to them.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Well can we do that?

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Though?

Speaker 4 (01:23):
What link's great? A great, great question.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
You can go to Dave ryanshow dot com if you
want to just go to a link right at the
top of the page.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
You'll have to click on them one that says donate.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
But then also our social media accounts and then Bailey
is taking care of texting her fingers are ferociously texting
the link to people.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
If you just want the link directly.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Texted you, you can text into katiewb one and Bailey's
going to send you that link, yes, with a little kiss.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
So just so you know, when I send you back
the link, it comes with.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
A little time. So nice.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Here's a text messon says I'm glad you guys do
this every year. I donated in my daughter for my
daughter Artemis, what a great name, who is at Children's
after she was born. Plus we were doing Day of
the Dozers at eRx and Elk River this year that
also donates to children. So if you can help us out,
we really appreciate it. And our goal is to get
up to twenty five thousand dollars minimum, so we can

(02:13):
get that match and we'll get an update on the
total coming up in a few seconds. But please donate generously.
We don't ask you for money very often, but this
is so important. Dave ryanshow at dot com there is
a link right on there or any of our social media.
We're gonna be back and talk to one of the
stars here at Children's Minnesota, the dude coming up next

(02:34):
on katiewb WB. We are live at Children's Minnesota and
we are raising money. And thanks for all the text
messages that are saying, hey, I just donated. Here's one
that says I am now twenty plus years cancer free.
Thanks to everyone at Children's for making a hard journey
a little brighter. Shout out to doctor Bruce Bostrom and

(02:56):
Lynda Madson. Another one text says, I don't have a
lot of extra money right now, but I have to
donate what I can every year in honor of my
nephew Bentley, who spent the first ninety four days of
his life in the nick You at Children's after being
born at twenty five and a half weeks and weighed
less than two pounds. Wow, they saved his life and

(03:18):
he's reminded me countless times what a miracle he is.
He's turning fourteen in October. So I just donated fourteen dollars.
Wish I could do more. I love that. Another one
twenty five years ago. Check this one out. This is
really interesting if I can scroll down to it. I fell
out of a building out of a window when I
was in fourth grade, transported to Children's. They are why

(03:41):
I'm alive today. I'm going to get a tear in
my eye every chance I get. I donate to them,
and I'll do one more my sister Natalie. These are
all text messages at Katie WB one. My sister Natalie
works at Children's in the cardiology department. We love what
you do for Children's every year, shout out to her
and all the other real life heroes at Children's.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
What wait is that? Are you serious? Natalie?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Can we hand you a microphone? Natalie for one second?
So this this is from from Abbie. What do you
do here at Children's You're in the cardiology department. What
does that mean you do all day?

Speaker 3 (04:18):
I am a patient services coordinators Okay, I just kind.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
Of help with scheduling and just all the back end stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
All the things that you know, scheduling, the things that
we don't always think about. Thanks for what you do.
Isn't it funny that you walked up at the same
time your sister send a text message.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
She loves you guys, and so I told her, I'm like,
I'm gonna meet Dave Ryan today.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
On the radio.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Light of exciting. Thank you very much. Yeah, for sure,
another big celebrity. Have you met the dude yet? Okay,
So the dude is here. The dude is like the entertainer.
He's the Jimmy Fallon, he is the Ryan. You're just
you're better than that.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
You're better than that.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
I got to give them more credit.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
The dude is basically you kind of run the entertainment
section here of Children's and the TV network on all that.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
So tell me about what you do. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:14):
Well, first of all, welcome to Children's And I'm so
glad you guys are here. I rolled out of my
bean bag and Dave Ryan's in my studio. So that's
one way to start a Thursday.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:23):
So we have our own channel here, Channel thirteen, and
our own kind of TV network that we broadcast live shows,
and we have content that we provide for kids that
we make ourselves. And the live shows, kids can call
in and they call what's it's called a landline. It's
a phone that plugs into the wall. I've heard of those. Yeah,
old people have those. Yeah, and they're kind of making

(05:45):
a comeback, yeah, a little bit. Anyway, they can interact
with us through shows like Bingo. We have puppy parties.
I have Disney princesses come, I have cartoonists come. And
all of this is a program like a lot here
at Children's that never show up on a bill for
our patients and families. And I'm kind of the ring master,
you know, the guy you know or the guy at

(06:06):
the head.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Of the parade. Yeah, you're the puppet. You're the puppet.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
You are And the puppeteer.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
I think that's what you said, that it never shows
up on a bill. Yeah, yeah, for all this and
it brings such it's such. We we use this word
term way too much, but it's so true. It brings
so much shoy to these kids who are enduring something
that no kid should have to endure. Yet here they are. Yeah,
but they're smiling, they're singing, they're dancing.

Speaker 6 (06:33):
They're coming up, they're co hosting shows with me, and
they're tethered to all this IV and they have they've
lost their hair through chemo, they have to wear masks,
but they want to be on TV.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
They want to be kids.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
And that's exactly what our program provides, is an opportunity
for kids just to be kids and forget you know what.
You're not a patient today, and you're at least for
this hour, at least for this moment.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
You're not a patient. You're a kid.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
And you're a kid too, because you are perpetually what
i'd say, nineteen years old.

Speaker 6 (07:00):
No, Well, I recently moved out of my mom and
dad's basement to my own apartment. But it is its
own apartment, its own like mailbox, it's my aunt and
uncle's basement. So I feel good about where I'm at,
but I want to Can I just say too that
I'm a part of a lot of this, like fundraising
because Star Studio and a lot of programs like this

(07:20):
at Children's It feels good to donate. I can account
for this. Every dollar matters. Every dollar accounts for programs
like ours, and we see to it that stuff like
this continues to happen for our kids and our patients
and our families. We have lasting impressions. Can I tell
you a quick story. There was a there was a
young patient years ago. She was the first kid to

(07:42):
ever dress up as me for Halloween.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
You wonder what the dude looks like? Have you ever
seen fast Times at Ridgemond? It's basically he's Jeff's Pecoli
and you're mister han yeahs are you allowed to have
food in this last?

Speaker 6 (08:01):
So anyway, so this patient she calls in and now
she's not a patient, she's an adult, and I remembered her.
She said, my name's Kendall. Do you remember. I think
about this kid all the time. She was the first
kid to dress up as me for Halloween. And she
was the first kid that went home after being discharged,
figured out how to call in from home. Yeah, and
so I got to go and see was with her

(08:23):
brother and I got to go and see her. And
after fifteen years or twelve years or whatever, it's been
kind of a you know, we were reunited.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
It was so so special.

Speaker 6 (08:35):
So we create these moments for kids and kids that
are here from like if they're four to sixteen, eighteen nineteen,
they remember their time here, and we tried to create
not just a good care, but good memories while they're here,
because we want them to know that when you were here,
you were taken care of. Well.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
I think that's the thing.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
And most of us cannot conceive of what life would
be like for us seven year old who spends the
majority of her day if she's here, probably laying in bed.
Mom and dad are kind of in and out. Probably
one of the parents is staying there most of the time.
And let's face it, there's gonna be a lot of
boring moments. You know, you get tired of watching TV,
you get tired of playing a video game, you get

(09:16):
tired of reading. But then something like you and what
you do provides this a little spark of difference and
energy and fun and the kids just they love that
because that's I've got four kids. What do kids want
to do? They want to be kids. Yeah, yeah, they
want to have fun, so yep. And while they're here,
we make sure that they get a chance to do that.
So yeah, not just good care, not just good attention

(09:38):
to their medical needs and clinical stuff, but when they're here,
they also feel safe and they feel like they're taking
care of because listen to me, I'm starting to sound
more like you as I.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Get get twenty years old. You're twenty years old, you know.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, all right, dude, thanks for doing Thanks for doing
what you do. We really appreciate it. We love you,
and thanks for all that you do. Again, this is all.
There's no bill for this. If the dude is never
going to appear on your bill, I wouldn't even know
how to do that, right, So donate because this is
where it all happens, and so we need your donations

(10:13):
and you can donate very easily on Dave ryanshow at
dot com.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
Big shout out to all your listeners that are donating
and listening. Thank you so much, everybody.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Absolutely, we're still looking for We're going to get a
total here in a second from Ashley seventy three hundred.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Okay, that's very good.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
We're still running behind pace to get to that twenty
five thousand, so we need to get it up to
twenty five thousand at least to make it up there
so we can get that donation the match from Prime
Prime Therapeutic.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
So make sure you donate now.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Please be generous, especially if you've got kids at home
that are super healthy and that are, you know, doing
all the things that a nine year old is expected
to do. Not every nine year old is getting to
do that, So please donate in honor of your healthy
kids on Dave ryanshow dot com or there's a couple
of other places don't Yeah, you.

Speaker 5 (11:00):
Can go to Children's and then dot org that's going
to have a pop up and it's going to direct
you right to a spot to donate. You can also
go to any of our social media accounts. We have
it linked literally everywhere. If I've ever felt like spamming
someone on social media, it is this day to get
you to donate. So we've got it everywhere on our
social media accounts. Bailey is responding to every single text

(11:21):
coming in just asking for the link. If that's easier
for you, you can text us in and Bailey will
directly send you the link as well.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Yes, Texas at five three nine two one.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
That's KATIEWB one and we'll be right.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Back with more from Children's Minnesota on katiewba Sorry, we're just.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
Out here chatting with people at Children's. Everyone around here,
every single person that works here is amazing. I swear
to God, Like whether you're scheduling appointments, you're the music therapist,
you're the dude, you're a surgeon, you're a doctor.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
These people are amazing here.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
We have a problem. We have a bit of a
problem we had. We're way behind in donations. Honestly, by
this time of the morning. The last couple of years,
we would be at about four already thousand dollars in donations. Yeah,
we are now less than ten thousand dollars. And one
of the reasons was we had a technical hiccup earlier
this morning and a lot of the people that listened

(12:10):
before seven o'clock probably tried to donate and the link
was not working, and we weren't even aware of that
until about seven o'clock. So we're sitting there going yay
donations and there was not a single one. So now
we are way behind. We have some serious donations that
we need to make.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
We have an idea.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Okay, what is your idea?

Speaker 5 (12:31):
So you know you you are a little Daddy Warbocks
on this show.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
So we thought maybe we play.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
A little game here, and we asked you some questions
and for everyone you get wrong, you got to donate
ten dollars.

Speaker 7 (12:43):
I love that idea.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
I'll do it.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
I will do it. Yeah, I will do it. But
there are gonna be people who have to play along.
So if I'm gonna do this, you're gonna do this too.
So if you are I don't know, if you maybe
own your own ad agency, or you own your own
Chevy dealership, or you are a dentist, or you into
somebody's making big box, you know what I mean, or
or you just want to help out, then you get

(13:04):
to donate to So I will donate ten dollars for
every question that I get wrong.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
What are these questions going to come from?

Speaker 5 (13:10):
They're just going to come from our hearts. Yes, there's
nothing nothing more than that. So the first question I
have for you, Dave, is what is the name of
the dog that my dad put down when I was
four years old.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
All right, that that would be That would be buddy.
That's buddy.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
Oh you were so close, but that isn'tcorrect.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
Her name was Cheater ten dollars, baby got ten dollars.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
On the moorl That wasn't fair.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Okay, ahead, Yeah, Dave, what does my middle name stand for?

Speaker 6 (13:39):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Junk in the trunk Bailey, Junk in.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
The trunk had seven different names, so sorry, because everyone
had a j name and your family name one really
a jerk.

Speaker 7 (13:52):
Well right, Dave, I'm sure you'll get this one perfectly fine.
No worries. Name one of my sisters, Dave.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
And LaBamba Nomba.

Speaker 7 (14:04):
That was what they were going to be named.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
But no Brielle or Layla you lose Lobambama's a good
name though.

Speaker 5 (14:11):
Yeah, okay, so we're at thirty dollars now that Daddy
Bear is going to be donating a children's Minnesota once again,
you're playing along too, and just think about how much
money you might be able to donate. Your next question, Dave,
is what is my favorite kind of flower?

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Yours would be the chrysanthemum. Always the chrysanthemum.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
Yeah, no, that's incorrect. I'm at to baking flower because
I like to bake. So that's forty dollars. Forty dollars.
We are at forty on the board and Bailey.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
The other one I do.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Dave, here's a here's a question you'll probably get right.
How many times has my dad been married?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Ooh?

Speaker 1 (14:45):
I would say, well, he was married before he married
Mama Ronda twice?

Speaker 2 (14:49):
He's been married twice.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
That's wrong, three times, vowed for three times in gage four?

Speaker 4 (14:54):
Yeah, so sorry, you got that wrong.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
So there was four marriages if you didn't go through
or is that.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
One one that he didn't go through? Three that did happen?

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Fumbore.

Speaker 7 (15:03):
But don't worry, Dave, I got a question that's guaranteed
to get you out of the doghouse, Dave, Right now.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
What are you thinking about right now?

Speaker 7 (15:10):
Yes, come on, you got this.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
You were thinking about Charizard because you're a big Pokemon.

Speaker 7 (15:15):
Guy, thinking about behind Atton candy machine. Dave, you're so close.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Wow shoes dang it?

Speaker 5 (15:21):
So where we at sixty bucks right now? Yeah, we're
at sixty dollars. We're playing a fun game where if
Dave gets the question wrong. He's voting ten dollars for
each question he gets wrong to Children's Minnesota and you
can also donate yourself if you would like, at Dave
ryanshow dot com or go to Children's mn dot org.
All right, Dave, what did I want to be when
I was four years old?

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (15:41):
No, let's do when I was eight years old? What
did I want to be when I grew up?

Speaker 2 (15:45):
The Marlboro Man?

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Oh? You know, I did think I was going to
be a heavy smoker.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Would have been super cool to be the Marlborough Yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:51):
Yeah, No, that's the I was obviously going to be
Baby Spice.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Oh I I knew that.

Speaker 6 (15:57):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (15:57):
All right?

Speaker 4 (15:59):
What was my childildhood cat's name? The orange one?

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Specifically tasty Tasty he loved you.

Speaker 7 (16:07):
Hey, Dave, what color underwear am I wearing right this moment?

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Zebra print?

Speaker 1 (16:15):
No, I'm actually not wearing underwear, Dave, bro.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Are you sitting in Dave's seat right now?

Speaker 2 (16:21):
It's no underwear free dollar?

Speaker 4 (16:25):
You know there's a security camera in there right perfect?

Speaker 5 (16:28):
All right, So we are officially at ninety dollars, David,
I will allow you to let me know where.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
We can cap it at.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Okay, what do you keep going? Go and keep going
because it's for the kids.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
It is for the kids, all right, all right?

Speaker 5 (16:43):
What was my favorite item that I carried with me
everywhere up until I was about nine years old.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Childhood? My baby ears.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
I would say, your lucky rabbit's foot.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
That's a good But no, I had a blanky.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
Of course its name was Blankie. So if you would
have said blank you would have gotten that one.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Right now, who's gonna match me? I just donated one
hundred dollars. Listen to the show. Good God. I've been
here for thirty two years trying to do things to
entertain you, from the Hollister song to the Randy Moss
messages to the a Dinah song, to hiring and firing
numerous people over the years, to bringing you Booty Cruise

(17:26):
to bringing you Girls' Night Out, all these different things
that I've done. So maybe you can match my one
hundred dollars.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
We're at one hundred right now and we still have
a few more questions to go.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Oh, there's Boura Dave.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Here's a question. Who is the hottest dude to ever
walk the earth? Who's the hottest guy?

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Well, again my favorite actor, Steven Siegal.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
That's wrong, it's Rick moranis Oh.

Speaker 7 (17:47):
Okay, Hey Dave, do you know one of my parents'
names I have to do is just one of them?

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Uh yeah, Sharon Sharon and Thurston.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
Sharon Thurston share it with my first step mom, but
she's removed now. No Geneva or Turk would have been
a correct answer.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Tarik.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
Yeah, I've talked about this guy maybe once in my
entire life since it happened. But what is the name
of the guy I kissed when I was thirteen years old?

Speaker 4 (18:15):
My very first kiss.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Very first kiss. I would say that Thurston again, Thursday.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Thurston's a great guess. However, I don't think that was
a popular name back then. So his name was Chris Olsen.
Shout out Chris Olsen. Yeahsh what a babe.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Speaking of babes, who was who was the kid that
I kissed on the cheek in the home living area
when I.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
Was in pre school?

Speaker 1 (18:39):
That was a cardboard cutout. So I'm going to say,
mister cardboard cutout, that.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Was a warm blooded man. His name was Rusty, thank
you very much. Grew up with a Rusty too, Oh
my gosh. Maybe it's the same rusty. Here is that
trifling home?

Speaker 2 (18:51):
How much? How much are you go? Now?

Speaker 4 (18:53):
I think we're at one fifty.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
I believe at this we're actually okay.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
I think Vonn's got one more question and we'll get
up to one fifty.

Speaker 7 (19:04):
I believe we'll keep it on. First crushes, Dave, my
first girlfriend who gave me my first ever kiss. I
know you know, I've told you so many times. What's
her name?

Speaker 6 (19:12):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (19:13):
That was Lafonda? No fun, no question? Was Lafonda wrong?

Speaker 3 (19:17):
No?

Speaker 7 (19:17):
Sorry?

Speaker 2 (19:18):
She was the second tear?

Speaker 6 (19:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Do you ever listen to anything we say? Yeah? I
feel like you don't know our life. We tell you
this all the time. I talk about the dead dog
when I was four years old all the time.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Lena, I love you, Lena, Lena all the time.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
People confuse Bailey for Lena for her hilarious, think you're
Jackson all the time.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
They confused me for Lena because we've all that blonde hair.
Beyond hair here. I have one question, Dave.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
If when you donate your one hundred and fifty dollars
that you're going to donate, do you know where you
can donate it to?

Speaker 1 (19:47):
I actually do, yes, you can go to Dave ryanshow
dot com and donate to Children's Minnesota because we are
way far behind on donations and we need to get
at least up to twenty five thousand dollars so we
can get that prime therapeutics match. So we are and
if I have to stand on my head, I will
stand on my head for sixty seconds. If people will donate,
I'll do it right now out literally stand on my

(20:08):
head for sixty seconds. If people will donate during that
sixty okay, I.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
Would just advise maybe we wait till later in the
show because the last time you did this, because you've
done this in the studio before, you barely could talk
for a while. So I don't need like the blood
rushing out of your head and you not being able
to do the rest of the show. But we will
make Dave do that eventually if you all aren't coming through,
but there are a lot of people coming through. I
think we've got some shout outs through text message. We

(20:34):
definitely want to acknowledge. Yes, this person says, I donated.
My son Archie had surgery at Children's and the team
was just wonderful and took the very best care of him.
My son was born January twenty twenty four with a
diaphragmatic hernia. Shout out to doctor Lilligard for doing his
repair surgery at.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Seven days old.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Children's is amazing.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
We have triplets who were in the nick you and
there have been several hospital stays. Last time we were
there admitted for my son's epilepsy and we won at
Bingo with the dude that's from Jazz donated twenty dollars.
Wish we could do more. Children saved our son's lives. Also,
let's get to twenty five thousand. I work for Prime
Therapeutics and we are matching. My ten year old spent

(21:19):
three months in the cardiac ico ICU. We are now
seven years out and has his two year cardiac follow
up with his doctors today at children Wow. So these
are just some of the text messages we're getting. You
can donate again on Dave Ryan's show. We have the
link to the Children's donate page there and if you
want me to send you the direct link, just text

(21:40):
in at KATIEWB one that's five three nine to one
and I will send you the direct link to donate.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
And just to get serious for a second.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
If you have a child that is very healthy and
has no problems other than the occasional skin knee or
bumped head, then please take a second to appreciate what
you have and just as much what you don't have
to deal with in your life. Because I can't even
imagine I've had healthy kids, I've got healthy grandkids. Well,

(22:10):
you know, Chase's little girl, Gwen, had some serious health
issues and I haven't really talked about it on the radio,
but she's all the way recovered now, she's doing just great.
But it definitely I mean Chase and in his wife Maddie,
they had to sit outside in the waiting room while
little Gwen at a year old, had serious surgery. And

(22:31):
you've never had to do that. I'm going to guess
you've never had to sit outside in the waiting room
or spend a sleepless night before a surgery, or a
sleepless night wondering what the results of a test are
going to be. Can you imagine if you're I mean,
it's waiting for a test for yourself is rough. But
if you've got a little kid and they've got a
you know, a bone marrow test or whatever kind of
test they're doing, and you have to endure that, and

(22:54):
you're up all night and you're trying to sleep, and
you're trying to be cheerful and strong for them because
they're a kid and they don't quite get it. If
you've never had to endure that, then count your blessings,
which I know you do, but maybe that'll inspire you
because we need to get donations. And if just do
it in honor of your healthy, vibrant, obnoxious, smelly child

(23:17):
who you love so much, but we take for granted
how healthy they are. And we heard stories of Hayley
earlier this morning. Haley was in fourth grade and they
thought that she had like a flu or they thought
that she she had like a handfoot mouth disease, and
they thought that was like, okay, well, you know antibiotics
and rest and liquids or whatever. No, she had to

(23:37):
have two bone marrow transplants. Can you imagine being the
parent of little Haley who's in fourth grade and is
going in tomorrow for a bone marrow transplant, and what
that would be like if you've never had to experience that,
Please take a second of appreciation and donate two children's
Minnesota so they can help out the kids who didn't

(23:57):
get the good news, because you know, here's what you
do when you're waiting for surgery or waiting for the results.
You sit there and a lot of the time you
get good results. And I remember when Susan had her
big cancer scare about five or eight years ago. You
sit in a little room waiting for the results of
the surgery. How did the surgery go? And I got

(24:19):
good news. But as I sat there, I thought of
all the people who don't get good news. And I
can't even imagine what that news would be like to
find out that your child has you leukemia or cancer. So,
because you've never had to go through that before, counter
your blessings. And maybe that blessing is worth fifty dollars.
Maybe that blessing is worth one hundred dollars. Maybe it's

(24:40):
worth twenty, maybe it's worth a thousand. It's actually priceless.
So count your blessings and please donate whatever you feel
that is worth two Children's Minnesota. Go to Dave ryanshow
dot com, click on the link and donate as generously
as you can for the blessing that you have that
you've never had to go through this, we'll be right

(25:02):
back on k d WB. The kids and sick kids
and kids that are anywhere from just experiencing the first
few stages of their illness, or kids that have been
ill and in the hospital. Somebody said they were in
the hospital for like four hundred and fifty days or
something like that. So can you imagine that is over

(25:23):
a year. That would be not this Christmas, but next
Christmas A long time. I can't even imagine. So let's
make the kids their experience at Children's a little better
with everything from music therapy to the dude, to the staff,
the research and all of the things that they do
here at Children's that they never get a bill for

(25:45):
just amazing work. And I hope that you are blessed
with a child that doesn't ever need to go to
the doctor for anything other than stitches because they fell
off the monkey bars.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Yeah, I mean that's rough too. We got some text
messages I'd love to read. This one's from Emily. My
mom worked at Children's for eleven years. I have fond
memories growing up to go up to work with her
on Saturdays and meeting the children and talking and playing
with them through their journey. Much love for what you're
doing for childrens. I was diagnosed with type one diabetes

(26:15):
in nineteen ninety at Children's. I now proudly work at Children's.
Just donated to keep all of our fantastic programs running.
I'm donating two childrens today in honor of my two
healthy children. I have been a patient of Children's. I
had open heart surgery and a pacemaker implanted at eleven
months old and.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Eleven months months old.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
One of the best facilities in the country, keep doing
great things.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
That's from Carly. Thank you, Carly.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
My baby boy had open heart surgery at five days old.
I will be forever grateful for the entire staff. Thank you,
doctor Overman. I will be donating. My son is now
nine and a half.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Think about a five what they say five days old?

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Days? Five days old?

Speaker 7 (26:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Now, Allison's got a little girl who is about two
and a half weeks old, and she is tiny. Five
days old is a tiny little babe, eighty baity baby.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (27:09):
And I'm going to take a guess that there's a
lot of people going to get their Starbucks or Cariboo.
Maybe you're in the drive through right out right now
at this moment. And maybe just take a second and think, like,
if I can afford a seven dollars latte, maybe I
could afford seven dollars donated to Children's Minnesota today. Or
maybe you were planning on going to Target later and
you're like, look at all this fall decor I want

(27:29):
to purchase.

Speaker 4 (27:30):
Maybe just purchase one last thing.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Here's one about a Halloween costume for my dog. Now,
if I can afford a Halloween costume for my dog,
I can certainly afford to give a donation to Children's Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
You don't need.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
Another pumpkin spice candle, but what we do need here
is all those.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Bad Oh Susan.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Susan lit up this awful smelling pumpkin spice candle in
the kitchen last night. Yeah, and I'm like, is that
the litter box? She's like, nah, that's a Popkins class candle.
And I'm like, oh god, it smells terrible.

Speaker 5 (28:00):
Well, don't get that pumpkin spice scandal, but do donate
to Children's Minnesota.

Speaker 7 (28:04):
Yeah, able to please?

Speaker 1 (28:05):
All right, thank you so much for all that. We'll
be back in a second with the final hour and
the final push, And we had a lot of ground
to make up. We are way behind on donations and
we're going to talk to this more inspirational people here
at Children's but in the meantime, our job this morning
is to, Yeah, we try to make you laugh and
smile and play music, but also to raise money. That
is our mission today to raise money, and we're behind

(28:27):
the curve. I'm not going to lie to you and
say hey, we're doing great. We're doing less than great
and we need your help. So please donate at Dave
ryanshow dot com or Children's CHILDRENSMN dot org. Right there,
there's a donation link, and we'll be right back on
