Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right, it's time. It is nine oh five exactly. We're
gonna get you Benson Boone tickets right now. Well, you're
gonna earn them because if you're a Benson Boone fan,
your job to win these tickets is to call sixty
five one nine eight nine kd w B.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Now.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
I will say it's a bit of a challenge. I'm
gonna play a Benson Boone song backwards. You have to
name the song. So if you're a big fan, it's
gonna be a whole lot easier that if you're like, okay,
it's Benson.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
What's his last name again? Benson? But who Boon?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Okay, So call now if you're a Benson Boone fan,
I'll play a clip of a song backwards. You'll hear
it three times, you get one. Guess if you win it.
If you get it right, you're going to the show tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Night already, Wow.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Excel Energy Center. So call me now six five to
one nine eight nine k d w B. To fill
time between now and then. There's an article that says
Minnesota State Fair goers may get sticker shock this year.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
What is that?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I know what sticker shock is? Is it the mean
that everything the price of everything. The admission ticket has
gone up.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
It's twenty bucks for admission, and I guess we'll find
out when we get there how much food has gone up,
you know, a beers or anything.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
I would love for you to text in.

Speaker 6 (01:17):
If you know anyone who's gotten the sneak peak of
food this year, because normally I feel like I see
so many foody people like already getting sneak peaks.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
I haven't seen anything this year.

Speaker 6 (01:27):
I don't know what I need to try that's new,
and I feel like normally they do that a couple
days leading up to the fair and I have not
seen it.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Yeah, I know, like when you walk in, you can
go up to like the information booth and then they
have the little like brochures that have all of the
new food and all of the new drinks. And I
like going through that and like circling everything like I'm
shopping for Christmas kind of. Yeah, that's one of my
favorite things, like that, going around and trying everything.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I don't know, maybe you just have to find out
for yourself to this one that the State Fair is. Like,
I've lived here section nineteen eighty three and it used
to be two dollars to get it. No, I totally
get that, and it seems outrageously expensive. But if you
really put a value on twenty bucks, it's it's a bargain.
It really is, because it is so if you love

(02:12):
the fair, you know what I'm talking about. If you don't,
if you're not a fair goer and you're like, there's
too many crowds and the parking is terrible, and there's
all fat foods, that's you know, and you're not going
to go, but I'm not going to talk you into it.
But twenty bucks is a bargain.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Honestly, if you if you are that person you're like,
I'll never go to the fair.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
It's not my thing.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
I feel like maybe some parts of the fair aren't
your thing and you just haven't found the parts that
are right for you.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Because there's something for everyone at the Minnesota State Fair.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, there is like the taxidermy fish. Maybe you've ever
seen the taxidermy fish. That is one giant sonny. Yeah,
I've never seen a sonny that big before the size
of it, it's a size of a dinner plate.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
It's a sunfish.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
They got like beavers in there too.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
There's a beaver in there's a beaver noyone want to
do climb that fire tower? I want to climb that
fire Yes, it's always got a line on it though.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
They got that like karaoke, that sing together thing that's
like up on Machinery Hillish area and everyone sings karaoke together.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Everyone loves that.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
There's something to do with the fair. Anybody once again.
I'll be out there today from eleven until one. Come
by the KDWB booth. We got a family on the
phone right now. It's Quinn and mom Kelly.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Hi.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Quinn and mom Kelly?

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Hi?

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Who's Quinn? Say?

Speaker 7 (03:18):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Quinn?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
How old are you? Quinn?

Speaker 7 (03:22):
I'm thirteen?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Okay? And where are you with your mom? Right now?
You're in the State Fair parking lot? Quinn?

Speaker 8 (03:27):
No, we're actually on lake.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
You're on the lake right now?

Speaker 5 (03:31):
Wow?

Speaker 8 (03:32):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (03:33):
What part of Lake Minatonka are you on right now? Oh?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
It's beautiful out there. Can you see my house from there?
It's the big one. Can you see it?

Speaker 4 (03:42):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
No, keep looking?

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Your house was on tonk Okay, Quinn?

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Right? Quinn and my Hi mom, Hi, that's so cool.
You're on the boat. I love this has never happened
in all my years of being on.

Speaker 7 (03:57):
Ktbb's having a surf lesson.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
We just told the instructor, can you hang on?

Speaker 8 (04:02):
We have to call it.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
I hope you get this one. This is so cool. Okay, Quinn, Mom,
surf instructor, good luck. I'm gonna play the song down
the phone, listen three times and make one.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Guess.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Here comes play number one backwards. There's play number one.
I know it's short.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Do you do you win?

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Wow? Wow?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Wow? Give it up, mom, Mom, yeah, wow.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Give it up, Quinn, give it up for the serf instructor.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Ser instructor.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah wow, that what a day this is. That is amazing.
This I'll remember this for a long time. Quinn and
Mom enjoyed Benson Boone at the X tomorrow night.

Speaker 7 (04:58):
Okay, oh okay, thanks, Quilt was hot?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
What'd you say?

Speaker 5 (05:04):
I'll tell you which photo I thought was hot of you?

Speaker 1 (05:06):
We're talking about because you look at old photos of
you know when you used to be hot. You know
you're still hot. Jenny you're still hot, and Bailey you're
still hot. You're kind of hot, kind of hot, and
vont you're still hot. But you look at you get
older and you look at pictures of when you used
to be hot. And there's a picture of me four
that I posted on my Instagram. It's a bunch of
pictures for National Radio Day. And by the way, I
apologize right now, Bailey and vant you both got cut

(05:28):
out the pictures.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
I was about to make a joke about that. Yeah,
it's my favorite picture.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I seriously, I thought, you know, I looked for pictures
of all the different errors of the show, and I
couldn't find any of Corey Foley, and I couldn't find
any of Lena, and I couldn't find any of whatever.
But there's a picture of the four of us and
the Bailey and vont both got cut out, thanks Instagram.
But the very last picture that was I think probably
my hottest era.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
See.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
The thing I don't like about that photo is it
looks like you've been shocked by some electricity in it.
Your hair is the wind out of control. Yeah, but
I actually really like the first photo. Yeah, kicked, because
I feel like I've seen a lot of your old photos.
I've never seen that one before.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
It's you.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
I don't even know what are you standing on a rooftop.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
On the roof of a seventy eleven in Las Vegas.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
Yeah, and you're just like holding a microphone that's got
a big like orange looking like an orange.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (06:17):
But I just feel like it's like, wow, that was
young Dave's starting off in radio.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
It was. It's so precious. I feel like, so I
like that one.

Speaker 6 (06:25):
I don't know which woman's hotter in the third photo,
the one on the right of the one on the left,
But I would say.

Speaker 7 (06:31):
The one on the right, Wait, what the thtooto photo on?
Oh photo?

Speaker 5 (06:41):
The woman on the left her hair soyuls a little
bit better.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
But the woman on the.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Right, yeah, wow, that's not a woman that's me so
bad that it.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Took me and Dave who were like huh.

Speaker 6 (06:53):
Also, the photo of you next to Lee, I have
never seen you with.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
That thick of a mustache.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Do it again.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
It's not that it's a bad picture, it's just a
shadow or something.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
I don't know. That is like the most unique photo
I think I've seen of you. Where if I saw
that photo, I wouldn't immediately.

Speaker 9 (07:09):
Be like, that's Dave. You look like you hang out
in comic book stores in this photo. Honestly, there's the
one after you and Lee, you and Oklahoma. Yes, yeah,
that's me as jud Frye and Oklahoma. Oh gosh, god,
I saw it.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
We're talking a bit because it was a national radio day,
so every radio DJ, including I think Jenny and Fallin
for sure, every DJ put a bunch of pictures of
their life in radio, because you know, we love what
we do. And so I dug back and I felt
the picture I was really looking forward was the one
on the seven eleven roof in Las Vegas, because that
is my favorite picture of me in radio because I

(07:42):
was just starting out. I had no idea what I
was doing. I had no idea how long it would last.
I was twenty two years old, and I loved it.
It was so magical and it still is. But I
just look at that kid, and I'm like, I don't
think I could do what that kid did, because that
kid was so creative and worked so hard and was
just had such an energy.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
And me, I'm tired, you know, and I'm kind of
sleepy right now.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
I think it's kind of nice too, to like look
back on like young, younger you and be like, wow,
I could never do that now, but like you.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Did, that's old you. So you did do it.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Wow, That's that's a very good way to put it.
It's like I could never do what that kid did
now because it took so much energy, and I didn't
have kids back then, and I didn't have a partner
back then, so I had all the time in the
world to concentrate on the radio show. Anyway, Go check
that out and let me know where I look the hottest. Okay,
we'll be back in a second. We're gonna but first though,

(08:36):
it's your keyword for the iHeartRadio Music that on one
point free KTWB has your shot at one thousand dollars
and a trip to our iHeartRadio Music Festival.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Now text the nationwide keyword music to two hundred to
two hundred. You'll get a confirmation text and info standard
data and message way supply in this nationwide contest. That's
music to two hundred to two hundred.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Okay, your chance to go to the iHeartRadio Music Festival
in Las Vegas with one thousand dollars in your pocket.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Not for long.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
You're gonna blow it on drinks and gambling, and that's great.
Go to the iHeartRadio Music Festival two nights coming up
the end of September, but you got to play the game.
The keyword is music. Text that to two hundred two hundred.
Very important. Answer your phone later in the morning when
their phone rings, because that's likely us calling to say
you win. So two hundred two hundred. Text the word mutant.

Speaker 9 (09:28):
You're kind of hot.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
The Dave Ryan Show one oh one point three KDWB.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
I want to hear a traffic report on the way
to the State Fair because I'm going to the State Fair,
leaving like a right at ten o'clock. I'll be there
by eleven, I hope. And how is the traffic not
just for me but for other people on the way
to the fair? Where does it back up? Is it
backed up? Which way are you going? You're going down?
Snelling you down? Como, you're going up? Energy drive, Energy
Park Drive? Or you going two eighty? What are you doing?

(09:55):
You're coming in from the north side, up from the
Falcon Heights. How's the traffic? Send me a text kto'd
be one. There's a guy on the phone named James,
and he's all geeked up because he saw Lil Wayne
last night and wants to tell us how cool the
show was. James, did you like the show.

Speaker 8 (10:10):
Oh man, I never Okay, I like all types of music.
I like country and rock and rap and everything, you know,
but I was never a huge fan of Lil Wayne,
and I never thought, you know, I end up going
to one and my girlfriend and her son that were going,
and they asked me if I wanted to go, and
so I decided to go with them. And Wow, the
other day, you guys were talking about production at concerts

(10:31):
and everything and how it's gotten so much better. And
I remember I went to corn when I was eighteen.
I'm forty two now, the same age as Lil Wayne,
and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
And remember, Wow, production was amazing. If you ever get
a chance, I thought a rap concert, I didn't think
it would be that good, but wow, it was absolutely incredible.
And Tiger came out first, and then it was a

(10:51):
little Wayne. It was a lot of fun. It was crazy.
So it was probably cool to be a legend like that.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
He's still like floored by it.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
That is, you know what, That's really cool that you
liked that show enough that you wanted to call the
radio station and tell us that you love that The
Lil Wayne Show.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
That is super cool.

Speaker 8 (11:06):
Yeah, you know, I never was a huge fan of
Little Wayne. You know, I can absolutely see why he's
absolutely loves them A door it was it was insane.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Well, that is so cool. I'm glad you enjoyed the show.
Isn't he gonna be at the iHeart Radio Music Festival too?
He's one of them?

Speaker 5 (11:21):
Yeah he is.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Okay, thanks James.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
I appreciate that when he has true he's right about
production because it used to be like the artists would
come out and there'd be a DJ in the background,
a couple of dancers that look like they mis rehearsal. Yeah,
and now it's like Taylor Swift and Pink of up
the game as far as like, you go to a
concert now and it's like they only had a DJ
and a dancer. It was lame. Now you got to

(11:44):
have like a fireworks show a show. All right, it's
Katy WUB. We'll do Dave's start to Go coming up next.
Catchups up on some things on Katie wb YIL.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
It's Dave's Derek on Katie w B.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
First day of the State Fair and things. For the
traffic reports, I've heard the traffic is, you know, kind
of a nightmare. Just give yourself some extra time. Oh ye,
people do love that state fair tradition.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
For so many people to go on the very first day.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I'm just saying this early.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
Yeah, I get there.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Aren't working, Yeah, kids are out of school. Mom wants
to get over there. So all right. Ariana Grande makes
the dirt today by covering Hillary Duff's hit song why not?

Speaker 2 (12:28):
All right?

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Why not take a crazy chance? Do crazy? If you
lose a moment, you might lose a loss.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
She's singing in the shower. What is that? That sounds
like she recorded on her phone?

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Sounds good though, I mean no, she sounds great.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
She sounds great.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Brandy and Monica have done a Duncan ad and it's
a throwback to their hit song. So they're working for Duncan.
Used to be dunkin Donuts, now just Duncan.

Speaker 7 (12:58):
This is right.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
I gotta be honest. I thought it was mine, not yours.
But we're not doing this again. Oh no, you're right,
we are not. Can somebody get us a cereal and
milk latte?

Speaker 8 (13:12):
Please?

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Oh Quinn. When two great things come together, it's harmony.
Duncan cereal and milk Lattaday available now, we deserve it.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
We did, okay, because they were playing off of the
Boy Is It The Boy's Mine?

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
So what I've heard is for their tour, which is
called the Boy Is Mine Tour, I believe because they're
going on tour together, is that the ticket sales are
really bad in general, and so they're trying to like
invite other like nostalgic acts to come on with them
to try and sell tickets.

Speaker 7 (13:43):
Yeah, they're talking Kelly Rowland, Money Long, who is kind
of problem right now, Jamal Roberts.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Yeah, and so I guess you know, one hit does
not an arena tour make.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Yeah, why are they trying to do arena I.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Think somebody convinced them they could sell arenas on the
chance that they might be able to the sun Carsons
in the concert business, and he says, one of the
hardest things is to figure out what size of arena
you should play, And artists always overestimate the size of
the arena they should play. So some artists they should
be playing in a two hundred c club. Some artists
should be playing a you know, at the stadium, and

(14:16):
so they usually and that's why artists will cancel or
change a venue from you know, Excel Energy Center to
the film more use they overestimate how people are gona.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
Buy taketumb situation.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Yeah, yep, yep.

Speaker 7 (14:29):
There's a school district that shut down for the day,
well they went to e learning. It's in Indiana because
somebody stole all the catalytic converters out of the school buses.
This is the police chief talking about what happens cattle converters.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
You know, you can scrap those for a nice price.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
I hear anywhere from five hundred to maybe nine hundred.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
Dollars a piece. Most important thing is that we get
our kids back to school.

Speaker 7 (14:49):
I think it's shocking to be like a person that
wakes up in their cars catalytic converters stolen. So imagine
every like all twenty bus drivers like, hey, this one's
not working either, this was not turning off.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
That's an ambitious thief right there, to do converters, right.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Yeah, it's busy. So something that I never thought I
would be saying.

Speaker 6 (15:08):
But Jennifer Lopez is in talks of winning an Oscar.
There's Oscar buzz about a movie that she's going to
be playing playing in. It's called Kiss of the Spider Woman,
which it was originally a Broadway show that won seven
Tony Awards already. But now j Lo sings, dances, toils
and struts in this imagination of a jail window dresser

(15:29):
recalling the plot of Hollywood Musical. So the film gets
released on October tenth, and it was premiered at the
Sundance Film Festival earlier in the year, and apparently she
got a standing ovation from the crowd. And like, don't
get me wrong, I love a j Loo movie, but
like she's a rising com yeah type of girl, like
a very corny. So the thought, the fact that she's
up for an Oscar or there's Oscar buzz, I should say,

(15:51):
kind of surprises me.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
Speaking of Broadway, the Muppets are coming to Broadway Poop Poop.
They're going to be in a show with illusionist Raw Lake,
who I've not heard them, but apparently you know, people
love magic and Dave loves magic, and they're going to
be on the Broadway stage in October through January eighteenth
doing magic alongside of Rob Lake. Kermit the Frog is

(16:16):
promised to appear on stage.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Nice, very cool.

Speaker 7 (16:19):
I'm not the biggest swifty but they made the cover
of US Weekly and an inside.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Sorce is called US Weekly. By the way, Yeah that's okay, Yeah,
that's okay.

Speaker 7 (16:27):
This is my first day on Earth, and an inside
source reveals how the summer solidified the couple's relationship.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
End quote.

Speaker 7 (16:34):
They want to be married and have kids. They're both
genuinely ready for that chapter. None of that's confirmed, at
least from Taylor and Travis is just whoever this quote
unquote source is. However, I don't feel like kids is
gonna happen anytime soon.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Marriage could happen any day between Travis and Taylor.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
I think the only thing that would make them want
to do it sooner rather than later is she is
thirty six.

Speaker 6 (16:54):
I want to say she's going to be thirty six
in December.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
I believe her birthday is.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Okay, and then that's what they would hermann is a
geriatric pregnancy, which is kind of funny because you're still
you're barely out of high school.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
You're thirty six years old, you're barely out of high school. Okay.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
But at the same time, I don't see Taylor as
a mother. I don't and that's not a slam at all.
She just does not seem like a baby would fit
into her world right now.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
No, not at all.

Speaker 7 (17:18):
You know how much would have to stop on both
of their ends, Like it just would stop them being
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (17:24):
It might be a good time, honestly, because she gets
pregnant during the football season, and then Travis finishes this season,
he retires because Travis Kelcey's getting kind of old for
a football player, honestly.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Like thirty five, thirty seven.

Speaker 6 (17:37):
Oh yeah, so that's actually really old for most football players,
it really is. And then Taylor is taking a break
from touring at the moment, she's going to get all
the buzz from the new album coming out in what October.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
Yeah, it would be a great time for her to
get pregnant.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
I think, Well, they're both.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Thirty five, Okay, Wow, I just don't see that. I
really don't feel that.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
That is not that everything she does is calculated, but
getting pregnant does not seem like a calculated move from her.
It just seems like that would get in the way
of the money making machine that she is. And that
is the dirt brought to you by six one two
injured Himer Lammer's injury law. I'm headed out of the fair.
First stop Pork Chop on a Stick booth. I'll see
in about another hour or so, Jennifer uh. And then

(18:16):
I will be g at the KWB booth from eleven
until one today.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Have a great day.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Okay, so jealous. But you see my mom's bench, take
a picture with it.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Where's one? Well, I'll look for it because.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Yellow they love them every year, so don't find

Speaker 2 (18:31):
It, all right, We'll see you tomorrow here on kd WB.
