Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're gonna do a little round of tips for the
state Fair because state Fair starts tomorrow. I love the
State Fair. I've never gotten tired of it. I know
some people are like God's crowded and sweaty. Well, then
you stay home and bitch, I will go to the
State Fair and I will have a good time.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I will eat the food that you were supposed to eat.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
My state Fair tip is this is only for KDWB listeners.
I don't want this getting out. Yeah, don't share this
because this is such a good State Fair tip. If
you come up Snelling, you're gonna sit in a ton
of traffic. There's a better way to get in. You
take two eighty exit off of ninety four. You take
two to eighty north, you take Energy Park and you

(00:39):
go in back that way. You come down Como Boom
Parking appears magically in front of you on your right
and it's less crowded. So don't tell anybody else. This
is for you. You are family. You are in the
KDWGB family. You get the back directions. Don't come down Snelling,
go down Energy park Way up to eighty down Energy

(01:02):
Parkway in the back way down Como also another tip
get there early because when you get there early, you
got the fair ground to yourself. There's no lines. Everybody
is happy to see you. By the time you get
there two o'clock, everybody working in the French fry booth
is sweaty and they're tired and they're cranky. They're happy
to see you. Yeah, anybody else get a State Fair tip?

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yes, Mine is that don't miss out on the West
End market area because I really like that. There's like
the Heritage Center over there, The Blue Barn has like
some of my favorite food every year. There's the shilling
Amphitheater which always has fun performances, okay, and then there's
also like the only beer that I really like to
get there is the grain Belt blue one with the
frozen topper. Luluse right yes or no, no, No, it's

(01:44):
the building next to LULUs that's oh but LULUs also
has like really right fair two. So I feel like
a lot of people don't always go to those little
corners of the fair. They stick to like the middle,
and so definitely go there. And then my other tip
is if you want to save money, just bring your
own alcohol in.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Don't say that because you never God, dang it, Jake,
you bring a.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Little bit of Alasko. You're still going to support the
fair by buying like a lemonade, but then bring your vodka.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Bring your vodka and it into the lemonade. I will
not endorse this because I am a rule follower.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I don't endorse you telling everyone our secret to get
in a.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Fair quicker, I said, it's just for Katie w tob listeners.
Another one. Get there early, Bailey, give me a fair tip.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Yes. Uh. Similarly to parking and driving there, I have
always taken the shuttle from the TCF Bank Stadium.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
That's a great idea.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
It is so smart and it's so easy. So like
wherever you park around TCF obviously, like the earlier you
get there, the better parking spot you get. But you
literally walk like ten feet to the shuttle. The shuttles
maybe a ten minute drive, and it drops you right
off at the gate and you walk right in and
then it picks you up at the end of the day.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
And it's so lovely.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
I've literally ridden the shuttle probably for the last twenty years.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
It's awesome.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
And you don't have to pay to park in TC No,
you just you just park and walk right in.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah, there's a lot of parking rides. I know in
Chaska Chan there's a parking ride. You catch the shuttle.
It may be five bucks, I don't know. If they
che for us, it's yeah, and it's totally reasonable because
it's a shuttle. They do all the driving and you
just get on the shuttle when you're ready to go,
and then you get back home. So there's another tip.
What is your tip for the state fair? Okay, share everything?

(03:22):
So if you get your own, you're going to fill
up too fast.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
A food, Yeah, so always get one and then share
it amongst your group and if you like it a lot,
get another one. Everyone getting their own.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
That's a really good idea. Given a beer too.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
You want to try everything from the corn dogs, the
Pronto pups, the big fat bacon to the fried smelt
cheese curds, everything, and you're right, you fill up.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
You're like more scot share, but I just can't do it.
Bailey's was take a shuttle for us and share all
your food.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Which is brilliant. There's a ton of a lot of
people have the same thing. And I really like this one.
It is brings some zip law to take food home
with you. And if you get a big thing is
Sweet Martha's cookies, you don't want to eat that many
because you still got other foods you want to tackle
around the fairgrounds. So bring in some zip blocked bags
or tupperware number somebody else says, bring in a water bottle. Okay,

(04:15):
you can refill that one.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Smart, didn't you.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Say most people end their day getting Sweet Martha though
I've never I usually see people like that's their.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Last off of a right, Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
It used to be ours and we'd get Sweet Martha's
and then we'd walk over to the milk barn and
then get milk and cookies.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
You know, the parts of milk went up this yer.
It used to be a nickel.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
When I first moved here, it was a nickel for
all you could drink milk, yes, which sounds like it
was like the nineteen twenties, you know.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
It was also I remember years.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Ago, but it was like a quarter for it, and
that was like it was a quarter for a long time.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Two bucks.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Now, I think it's even more than that. I think
could breed Okay, I think they just boosted it.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Here's a tip.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Also, tickets are eighteen dollars to get in, but you
go to cub they're fifteen bucks. So get your disc
count of tickets, especially if you're buying them for the
whole family. There's five of you, you're gonna save fifteen bucks,
so not bad. There's a couple of snacks for you
at the fair. Other tips and bring home, bring along

(05:14):
some like wet wipes, that type of thing. This one says,
it's text message at KTWB one call us crazy. We
bring a cooler with ice and park at the fair grounds.
We bring some food home and reheat it. Nowadays with
an air fryer and pizza oven. It's the same I
was gonna tell. I was telling Jenny. I said that
I don't think that reheated fair food would taste very good.

(05:35):
But if you do it the air fryer, maybe.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah, probably not. But I feel like if you only
go one time, you want to try so many different things,
and you really can't do that unless you're like saving
room for everything, so then you're gonna have leftovers.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
It's saving money because it's expensive. Yeah, it is expensive.
You have a tip. You've been to the fair one time,
fan you have a tip. I remember because I went
by myself last year. This is like a two parter tip.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
One charge your phone, but two, if you're going buy yourself,
tell somebody where you are because you have no type
of signal because there's thousands of people.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
And I remember I had spoke to my mom for
hours and she was like, what's going We're throng with you.
Where are you?

Speaker 1 (06:09):
So really it's like being in the stadium. You can't
you really get a signal because there's so many people.
I would say, also, if you can go on a
weekday or go really early, then that's it's a delight
because it's like getting to Disneyland before anybody's there. It's like,
oh my god, there's no lines anywhere.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
A gift to go early enough, but not too early
because things aren't open that early.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Yeah, I don't know. I think everything opens at what
nine o'clock? At seven? I used to go, Yeah, I'm
never going to get there early on Saturday morning, walk
around and get my little treats. We'll see you there
Live of the Fair with the Dave Ryan Show from
ten in the morning till three in the afternoon on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Come on, buy the booth
