Speaker 1 (00:00):
I gotta tell this quick little story because I'm really

(00:01):
proud of this woman named Shawna. And Shauna is there's
a little bit of a backstory, and you maybe heard
me tell the story before. I didn't know Shawna. She
was in third grade, and she sent me a flat Stanley,
which is a little paper cut out of a human
and then you're supposed to take a picture of it
and then send the picture in the flat Stanley back.
And some people take their flat Stanley all around the world.

(00:22):
That takes them too, Peru or the Great Wall of
China and take a picture and say, look, flat Stanley's
been all over the world. So little Shawna didn't know
her third grader sends me her flat Stanley. I didn't
open it. I didn't know what it was, and I
just stuck it in my desk and it got under something.
And I'm cleaning up my desk three months later and
I find this flat Stanley from third grade Shawna, who's
probably like, I'm heartbroken that I sent this and this guy,

(00:44):
this DJ didn't send it back. I found it. I
got a hold of the school. I said, I'm so sorry.
I came out to deliver the Flat Stanley to Shawna
and I was the guest reader. I ran into Shanna's mother.
This was a long time time ago, Randon to Shawna's mother.
The Pride Rainbow run on Saturday Sunday. And I'm like,

(01:04):
how is Shawna. She's a doctor. She just graduated a
couple of weeks ago or days ago with a doctorate
of audiology, so hearing ears, surgery things.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Because she loved the radio so much. Maybe so.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
And I am so proud of Shauna because I don't
know anything about her life or anything about you know,
any she had any challenges in life, but becoming a
doctor is a challenge in itself. So I am proud
of Shawna. So what are you proud of? And it
could be about yourself, It cannot be about your kids.

(01:43):
So I know your son is an amazing pilot or
an amazing mechanic, your daughter is an amazing tuba player.
Can't do your kids? What are you proud of? Bailey Jay?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
So I don't have kids. I have a speech team.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
I'm not going to talk about them performing, but I
tell them every year that, like your friendships that you
make on this team are forever and one of my students. Yesterday,
she texted me a picture of her hanging out with
this other guy on the team that they were really
close friends over the season and they're still hanging out
in the summer. So I'm proud of her for like
making that friendship last. And he just graduated, so she's

(02:20):
and she's like a freshman or whatever, but she's like,
you know what, this friendship is important to me. And
so instead of just like you know, going offline all
summer because people sometimes you know, just shut up in
their homes all summer long, she's like going out of
her way to stay friends and to hang out with
this guy before he goes off to college.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
I'm like, that's so cute. I love her, sweet faugh.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
What are you proud of?

Speaker 2 (02:40):
I'm proud of my little sister.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
She's fifteen, and so she's at that age where you know,
you can kind of start applying for jobs. But my
sister is amongst the generation that's just kind of a
little bit lazy transparently, but she started actually going to
job interviews and none of them have landed yet. But
I'm proud of her for saying, you know, I want
to make my own money. I would to be independent.
I'm going to go apply for a job.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah, that is nice.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
I did not have a job all throughout high school,
like I had a little bit of a summer job.
So I'm always really proud of people who have jobs
during this summer.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
That's great. What are you proud of?

admired that. What are you proud of?

again without flossing. She's gonna be like.

less than ten years.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Thank you, have a great day.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I love that I know nothing about riding a horse.
I know you get on on the left side. That's

at the age of fifty one and graduating with honors
and becoming a deputy sheriff. Love you, honey.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Wow, that's cool.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
We got a lot of people like on Facebook and
text messages talking about how they're proud of themselves or
a spouse for going back to college at like a
later age.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
And I think that's great.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
I think the great thing about you usually do better
because you wanted to go, that was your choice to go,
and it's about your future when you go when you're
eighteen years old. A lot of times like yeah, okay, yeah,
i'll go to class, baby.

Speaker 3 (06:55):

Don't go back because I've done it before. I quit
smoking so long ago, I don't remember how long ago,
twenty something years ago. And you quit for a couple
of weeks and you go, ah, I'm gonna have one
and then you might as well have a pack. Yeah,
And so then you go buy a pack.

a bunch of text messages. I wish we could read
them all, but we wanted to focus on the talkbacks.
She was that talkback feature because we really like to
integrate that in the show, because it's fun to hear
a human voice on the radio.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
