Back in 1983, 21-year-old Dunedin born, Christchurch raised, Michael Mayell started the iconic Kiwi company ‘Cookie Time’ which has just turned 40.
He baked cookies in a rented bakery and he and his mother delivered them to dairies across Christchurch, where they were sold individually from large glass jars.
Mayell sold 5000 cookies in the first week, and in the first year of operation sold nearly quarter of a million dollars' worth of cookies.
