Speaker 1 (00:09):
You're listening to a podcast from Newstalk zed B. Follow
this and our Wide Ranger podcast now on iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Every Friday on Matt and Tyler Afternoons on said B,
we name the New Zealander of the Week and honor
we bestow on your behalf to a newsmaker who has
had an outsized effect on our great and beautiful nation
over the previous week. And as always, there'll be three nominees,
but only one winner. And remember, like the Time magazine
Person of the Year, the New Zealander of the Week
asn't always an agent of good. Sometimes they rule, sometimes
(00:37):
they suck, but they were always in the New Zealand News.
So without further ado, the nominees for Matt and Tyler
Afternoons New Zealand of the Week are nominee one also
gets there. Give him a Taste of Kiwi Award. He
plays golf like a proper Kiwi, absolutely smokes the skin
off it off the tee, sprays it around a bit,
a lot of bogies in with his birdies, a lot
of time in the rough, and he does it all
(00:59):
with that foxy little tom time of a man who
clearly enjoys the odd Pie and a drink Ryan Fox
becoming New Zealand's ninth Ye of a PGA winner and
forgetting yourself last minute tour spot for the next two years.
You have been nominated for New Zealander of the Week.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Yes flash eight.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
And he's also started well at quail Hollow, so yeah,
give them a taste to Kiwi. Number two also gets
the Country Calendar Award. A writer went full Massago and
used this naughty word in a mainstream column to abuse
some MPs, one of which went on to use it
in Parliament to highlight the Massago abuse when he wasn't
happy about any of it. And now the most taboo
of words is all over the shop. It's like multiple
(01:37):
megs from the Silence of the Lambs escaped Baltimore State
Hospital for the Criminally Insane and started running the New
Zealand media the naughty Old Sea word for becoming the
word of the week. You have been nominated for New
Zealander of the Week, but there can be only one
and it also gets the Beady Irish Eyes under a
Beautiful Ginger Bouffon Award. Earlier this year, a huge American
(01:57):
celebrity came to our beautiful country to shoot his comedy
travel show. He was invited by a man on the
West coast with a bucket for a toilet, but did
so much more than that on his journey. The result
is one of the funniest half hours ever shot in
this country. He takes part in the giant Harker, hires
an all sheep crew, and gets into a fight with
a Kia. He also makes friends with the awesome Abbie Hales,
(02:19):
who he later raved about on his huge podcast as
the funniest person he has ever worked with. I met
the man at Christi at Chairport and he was a
super nice guy. Conan O'Brien for ripping our weird and
wonderful little country and new one with such ridiculously awesome
fun humor and making us even more proud to be
Kiwi's than we already were, if that was possible. You
(02:41):
are the Matt and Tyler afternoons New Zealander of the
week who watch the show and there on it's called
Conan must go It's great, and also go to Ebbie
Howe's shows this weekend or wherever you get a chance,
but be quick. Everywhere she is sails out. He's a
truly unique and brilliant New Zealand talents, so stoked that
(03:05):
Conan found her.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
All right, get well, how do I get the accent down?
Because it's a tricky accent.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
It is tricky.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
So like the word eig, for example, you say eg,
yeah sweet sweet? Yeah sweet? Okay, wait yeah, I an
eg it's sweet.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah. This has felt really natural, very call less.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Give me some more words. Skucks, scucks? What's that? That is?
Like a gentleman with careal charisma in the context of
being very, very good.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
With the ladies.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
So would I be a skucks?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
