a year since terrorists brutally attacked Israel, taking the lives

Speaker 2 (08:04):
About you're listening to Talk Line with Zev Brenner, America's
premier Jewish broadcast on the year since nineteen.

Speaker 9 (08:11):
Eighty one, and now here's your host.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Zev Brenner is always great to have Gabe Gaella with us.
He is the most knowledgeable about what what kinds of
coachh of wines. He's director of public Relations, Manager of
wine Education for Kedem Royal Wines and just had a
baby boy. So Mazotov, thank you. This what a way
to start the new year.

Speaker 10 (08:32):
Absolutely the best way.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
That's great. Did you have to take a drink after
you had a child or before.

Speaker 11 (08:40):
Before?

Speaker 8 (08:40):
Enough?

Speaker 3 (08:41):
It's a wonderful thing. So it's a Mazotov. Mazotov. And
I can't believe that Russia shun is upon us. So
I know that you guys come up with new wines.
So first of all, what's new for the new year.
Let's begin with that.

Speaker 10 (08:54):
What's new for the new year? Okay, So I want
to really an emphasis this year on is reading wise
for I think what should be obvious reasons. What's going
on in Arcestrael is really h keeping a full worried

(09:16):
and following the news. And there's many businesses and the
Ecademy is hurting there. Uh. And wineries are absolutely not
excluded from this. Uh, they're hurting as well, and we
want to we want to support them as much as possible.
So we have actually, uh several Israeli wineries have joined

(09:42):
our great portfolio this year. One of them, for instance,
is called Camisa from from the Galley Day, really the
region that that is most under a spotlight right now.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
And what wines do they produce?

Speaker 10 (09:58):
So they have all sorts of wines. Uh, they're pretty,
they're full flavored, wines are really bold. Uh you know,
it's not the type of very subtle. Uh. So the
wines are very uh uh out there, I would say,
in your face. And they have one wine in particular

(10:19):
that I like a lot, which is called the blow
p p I uh and then uh and then dulwage
is white in French, and uh it's uh, it's it's
a it's a wine made from giver Stravener grapes. Uh.
That is sweets but not cloying the sweets. And it's

(10:41):
really well balanced, full flavored, really delicious wine.

Speaker 12 (10:46):
Uh.

Speaker 13 (10:46):
That's got some delicious sweetness. Uh, fantastic Russian, fantastic to
go of course it's apple and honey, but any desserts
as well, and uh and all the others A lot.

Speaker 10 (10:58):
Of people of course. Uh, you know the ith Tommy
granted or dates SIGs, et cetera as part of the
of the synonym.

Speaker 14 (11:07):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (11:07):
So that's a that's a great Uh, that's a great
wine to go along with that.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Of course, Israel wines is something we should put on
our Russia shoun on the table, show always solidarity with
our brothers and sisters in Israel. If I have to
ask you, Gay, what's going to be on your Russia
shun and table? What wines are you going to serve
in the three days that we're talking about.

Speaker 10 (11:27):
It is three days that we're talking about this love. Uh,
it's many meals. Uh, it's going to be the emphasis again.
You know it's usha. Uh, there is ah. There's a
lot of dabbening, and you know, God knows how dabning
is important always of course, and on RuSHA in particular.
Uh So to stay focused, I will also stay focused

(11:50):
on quality over quentity. One of the wines that I'm
looking very much forward to enjoy, uh is the do
Mendic Castell twenty thirteen. You know why that been saving
for years, very special to eleven years old right now.
And you know, I highly encourage people to try the

(12:14):
wines from Dovendicastell and from their sister property Raziel. They
have some really great wines. They're amazing to enjoy right now.
And for people who like to age their wines, most
of their wines are aged worthy, which means that they
will get even better with a few years in the volve.

Speaker 11 (12:35):
Terrific.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
What else, because if through there, like you said, three days,
lots of meals and a lot of people want to
try something new for every meal. So what else is
going to be on your table?

Speaker 10 (12:45):
So what else is worthy at your table for this roshana?
So you can branch out after you have some of
those these really wines. You can branch out to Italy,
for instance, and there is a great winery there called
continue Out Giuliano. It's a fully coactraal winery that is
owned and operated by a young couple. Ilian la Agozzi

(13:06):
or respectively French and Italian. Lara is originally from Tuscany
and they make they make some great wines. One of
them is also sweet wine that's light and a crab pleaser,
something to enjoy it before, during, or after the meal.
It's called the sweet V. So it's the V refers

(13:28):
to the great variety, which is a Fermentino, an Italian
wide variety.

Speaker 11 (13:33):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (13:33):
It's slightly a ferviceent, you know, a little bit like moscado.

Speaker 11 (13:36):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (13:37):
It's light, it's fun, easy to drink, it's low in
alcohol and really really something that that makes that makes
the meal fun and and also a conversation piece because
it's it's different. And some beautiful ball as well.

Speaker 11 (13:54):
Well.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
These are all great choices. Before I let you go,
you mentioned in a previous broadcast gave you sometimes you
work with wineries aren't kosher wineries, but you get going
to do a kosher run. Is there anything else out
there that we should know about the coming up where
you have a great winery that doesn't really specialize in kosher,
but it's going to be doing a run with you.

Speaker 10 (14:13):
That is absolutely correct. So there's many new wines coming
from from such wineries right now, they're not yet available
for Shashana. So I will think about a winery that
has released their first kosher wine just a few months ago,
called Chettle do Zac. So it's it's a prestigious winery

(14:36):
from the Marco Appalachian in Bordeaux, France, one of the
most prestigious wineries there, and they released two coasher wines,
really fantastic, Chattle do Zac and all the do Zac.
This is their their second line and they're both highly recommended,
delicious wines and like the wines from Castels I have

(14:58):
mentioned before, they're well well wormed aging as well.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
All great choices to start the new year. To have
a sweet new year, especially with wine from Israel. As
you heard, gave gave some excellent recommendations, gave Gaella, Director
public Relations Manager of Wine Education Kedem Royal Wines, thank
you for being with us, with you and your new
expanded family, a new baby boy, Mazotov again. You should
have a wonderfully healthy, sweet new Year, and we look

(15:26):
forward to speaking with you again about what to drink Phisucus.

Speaker 10 (15:29):

of ours and looking forward to the next time.

How we're back.

Speaker 19 (21:47):
Our guest travels around the world, to Poland, to Russia,
to Israel, to India. Wherever there are Jews to be found,
You're going to find our guests for Revslomo Kamba. He
is well known throughout the world, not just for his
melodies of for bringing back thousands of lost Jewish souls
of their Jewish roots, shaking them up, but his inspirational.

Speaker 14 (22:05):
Words and music.

Speaker 19 (22:07):
Revsnomo getting back to the sixties, and we're looking at
some of the interesting aspects of your life.

Speaker 11 (22:12):
Uh.

Speaker 19 (22:12):
For ten years you had what's called the House of
Love and Prayer. Were people dropped in.

Speaker 12 (22:17):
Tell us what it was like, Oh mob Friday night
that sometimes chiev that it comes through the window, unbelievable
and which you know, Uh, oh dobbning Friday night. You
know during the week also people were staying there, maybe
twenty thirty people. But Friday, uh, Friday night and Saturday
night was like most kids came a sleeping back, so

(22:39):
it without sleeping back. Some it was just Friday night.
The downing was sometimes speatween five and ten hours. The downing,
the dancing, Yeah, which was funny, Charlie Shooter has never
ended before four in the morning.

Speaker 11 (22:51):
Well yeah, awesome, awesome, you know what it is. See
the world is saw oh shallow. You know, I don't
wanna say anything back.

Speaker 12 (23:03):
Let's say the establishment, right, they look at those kids
and they're looking for drugs, They're looking for the deepest
step of the fliers. They look absolutely disgusted when they
looked at their parents and looked at the whole until
they live. You know, they wanted something more, so much steeper,
so much more beautiful. I mean the way they listened
to to tylers to proceeds, to depths, make awesome or

(23:26):
some or so.

Speaker 11 (23:28):
And we didn't do enough.

Speaker 12 (23:29):
You know, I didn't wanna say again. You know, the
the Chugar movement began, you know when it began. Wait,
the moment they came back to Schlne, to the Holy Wall,
the Holy War was the most magnetic place in the world. Right,
But you know the soul called the money making Tugar
movement only began seventy eight, seventy nine eighty right, A

(23:51):
little later, how do you attribute to now why?

Speaker 11 (23:53):
But it is because the sad thing is when I
was still in the hospital of and praying, you.

Speaker 12 (23:58):
Know, when I would send, when I would talk to
those big people who died them so to speak, they
need new yr shields who bore the truers who would
have them.

Speaker 11 (24:06):
My faith be lost, those ten years be loost completely.
He could have had thousands, thousand, thousands of the kinds
you know. But anyway, the few books said who made it?
And maybe I had little bit of a hand in
some of them, you.

Speaker 19 (24:21):
Know, some of you were a stop making the father
of Jewish music. Also, as you mentioned, the true of
moving people who've returned to the Jewish roots. How do
you tribute to the success of you, one individual igniting
a spark among thousands of people when they're paid professionals
today that cant seem to ignite the same kind of
spirit that you did one man operation.

Speaker 11 (24:40):
I tell you two reasons.

Speaker 12 (24:41):
First of all, I all tell you was like this,
if you stand next with which day you get called?
If these are next to another and you get one right.
The second thing is, you know what really hurts me.
Sometimes I took to those professional out to each kid
of professionals. I'm sure it's beautiful, not knocking it, but

(25:01):
you know what's hurting me. If you were to ask me,
do you really know how to make some.

Speaker 11 (25:05):
Of the vectators cat I tell you what to know
the defense idea. I don't know. The only things when
it happens, I hope and I pray and I cry
that God will give me the right words. I don't know.

Speaker 10 (25:21):
But you're only thing.

Speaker 12 (25:22):
If you know before, this is good. If you're a cook,
you want to make soup, you know before it makes
a soup. When it comes to dealing with life as
people don't tell me you know before, and if you
know before, so it doesn't go. You know, someone listen
to those so called they're sweet, but turns me off completely.
And the fact is they don't reach the deepest depths

(25:44):
because they already preconceived noise. When I meet someone doesn't
keep shovelers, I give them the spoke and tell them
to do this, do this, don't do this.

Speaker 11 (25:52):
It's all nonsense. It doesn't reach inside.

Speaker 12 (25:55):
You know what it is the fact is that the
people they talk to they read Yeah, maybe maybe ten
percent of giving them the benefit of the doubt, and
you know what it is like. I have had the
purse of meeting so many people the deepest depths, and
the problem always was I had no way to send
them because after the return up to the deepest, deepest depths,

(26:18):
they would always.

Speaker 11 (26:18):
Be disappointed after that.

Speaker 12 (26:21):
You know, I remember one time, but the Holy world,
I met one boy who had turned on in Australia.

Speaker 11 (26:27):
Was crying. He says, you know what you taught me.
It was all alive.

Speaker 12 (26:33):
You told me that people who keep shoppers, that people
see them, that I saw holiness so beautiful.

Speaker 11 (26:39):
I'm known as well. It's not true. Some of them are,
but it's not always true, he says.

Speaker 12 (26:46):
I thought when I come here and kind of make
the paradise on what ch I mean? I mean, it's
haunting me what you said to me.

Speaker 11 (26:54):

Rabbi Shlomo Kabap known throughout the world for his music,
for his insights, his thoughts over thirty years and entertaining
people throughout the world at concerts and weddings, travels all
over to bring back people, to bring them the message
of music and music conveys quite a bit, you know,
in the sixties, we're talking about Shlom, a period of
time where it was a revolution going on in the

(28:29):
hearts and minds of many in this country, and the
house of love and prayer that you began was thriving.
You know, you also composed songs on the spot. One
of the songs I believe is from the period is
an English song called Lord get Me Hi. Perhaps you
can tell us about that.

Speaker 11 (28:43):

You know? Yeah? Yeah, the head of a college.

Speaker 14 (29:30):
They thought the song was obscene, but it was a
Hebrew song.

Speaker 12 (29:35):
You know. Anyway, then he got married and since he
was already so famous in all the newspapers, it was
this crazy story. So Life magazine came to film. The
wedding was unbelievable, and you know it was a different energy.
The wedding began four in the afternoon and you know,

(29:57):

The wedding well to the truck, and we were not
going to bed.

Speaker 11 (30:11):
It was the golden gate, Park.

Speaker 12 (30:12):
I went back to the hospital of in prayer and anyway,
this boy George was real being a master words and
and maybe it with that doesn't a good at that wedding,
which I don't you remember, but this is one of them.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
We now continue with our special broadcasts from the archives
with the refers Schlo Maccabock of Blessed Memory, a great
folk singer vis eurol. Somebody's put back so many many
people to Judaism and this is part of our last
interview on television with Robsholmacabbock where he goes through different
periods of his life.

Speaker 14 (35:08):
Welcome back our guests.

Speaker 19 (35:09):
Rabbi Shlomo Kobback's music has inspired jew and non jew
alike throughout the world, brought back so many people to
their Jewish roots, their Jewish soul. Shlomo, how is it
that you've brought back so many people? But yet the
Jewish establishment, religious, non religious Jewish establishment has not supported you.

Speaker 12 (35:27):
You know something, this is one of the said things
in my life. You know, you know, after how many
people I asked like I shouldn't give up on people.
You know you'ren't permitted.

Speaker 11 (35:38):
But yet you know, the.

Speaker 12 (35:40):
Finding Federvation decided to give us for half a year,
they went housord and prayer and after a half a
year they canceled. Why they canceled. It's too ridiculous even
to mention. You know how many people came to us
on shops, one hundreds hundred times. The brain of the
Federation passed by Sunday morning and you saw a lot

(36:01):
of garbage outside the house because there were hundreds of
kids shovers.

Speaker 11 (36:06):
So then I was called in the Federation. W there's
so much garbage.

Speaker 12 (36:08):
But on Sunday morning, I see you know why because
I invited hundreds of kids for shovers, but you is
no garbage on Sunday morning because he don't know right
anywhere anybody for shoppers. And you don't even keep shoppers.
You're the master of a Jewish money. You didn't give
it then about Jewish kids roaming the streets.

Speaker 11 (36:26):
You know what was the most important thing is the dead.
That every religion had.

Speaker 12 (36:30):
Little house eleven prayer. They took care of their kids.
At the unbelievable story. I'm coming to a university, and
again I don't want to say anything too bad. You
know how many kids are hiller are attract right, because
see HeLa is not catering to the young people. They're
catering to the parents who give you a few rubbles.

Speaker 11 (36:49):
They take a rabbi who looks like the mother or
the father would like right, So nobody comes. I'm coming
to a hill over night and they were thirty forty.

Speaker 12 (36:57):
I get a call from the Episcopal your minister, he said,
once you know I'm your friend, out of your records,
and I know who you are. I know your heart
is aching for your Jewish brothers and sisters because you
know where they are.

Speaker 11 (37:10):
They're in my church.

Speaker 12 (37:11):
Can you stay up at night and come to my night,
to my church and make sure they all are there.
There were two thousand kids there and at least fifteen
hundred Jewish.

Speaker 11 (37:20):
And you were so heart breaking. The church they support
people like this are doing something. Anyway. The greatest miracle
is that you held out.

Speaker 12 (37:29):
We held out for ten years, but then you know
everything was happening is well, and then some Francisco was
also not the the mecca of the Jusalem of the world.

Speaker 11 (37:38):
So folks will never have a mashob.

Speaker 19 (37:41):
Yeah, one quick question before it breaks shloma. How is
it that you never copyrighted your music? You would have
been a very english man.

Speaker 11 (37:47):
It's copied. Wise, I should take everyone to court.

Speaker 14 (37:50):
People have just taken your music.

Speaker 11 (37:51):
It's not only not only they're taking it that we
mentioned my name, you know.

Speaker 14 (37:55):
It's it's are you better at them at the establishments?

Speaker 12 (37:58):
Tell you what I'm If I say I'm not bitter,
I'll be lying. But you see, I don't want to
waste my time being bitter.

Speaker 11 (38:06):
But it's a little bit hot baking. You know, I
tea something. You know how many gatherings, how many people
talk about the sugar woman? You know, in my whole life,
it was never invited to one, even though you sure,
let's just let's assume fifty.

Speaker 12 (38:18):
Percent my fault, but also not right, you know, you know,
if you if I's imagine everybody wants secure can says
someone says I have a cure?

Speaker 11 (38:28):
And what can you do? That's what it is.

Speaker 14 (38:30):
So when we come back, I want you to think
some medley.

Speaker 19 (38:33):
We'll talk about Poland, India, some of the exotic places

Robert Schil Maccabach traveled throughout the world singer, folks singer, rabbi,
spiritual leader, Rabbi Kalbach.

Speaker 14 (40:13):
Going back to some of your trip people, I went
up with you to the Unification Church and said, beautiful.

Speaker 19 (40:18):
It was really something how you inspired people who have
been brainwashed to another religion. But perhaps you can tell
us about that some of your exotic trips. You've gone
to Poland, to the Soviet Union.

Speaker 12 (40:29):
I think very fast about India. There was nineteen I'm
not sure eighty three or eighty four. It was a
big conference in Bombay East and West religion and science
and was organized by the fellowers of Baba Muktonande, which Jewish,
and the woman who organized it was I mean, she

(40:50):
is real jew hated. She says that Jewish people have
nothing to add, so she didn't want to invite some Jews.
Everybody was there anyway to make it long. Finally, David Zella,
if you remember, David Zella was invited. Simon Schachter and
Humble Me and be the only religious leaders.

Speaker 11 (41:09):
Had to pay our own way, and we had to pay.

Speaker 12 (41:12):
Even admission there. And I mean their informants was not
from this world. Simon Schechter was a Gibalt, and David
Zella and then Humble Me. And when I got on stage,
I said, friends, you know, I saw privileged to be
in Indian. There's so much holiness, here's so much religion
and so much godliness. But right now I'm standing before

(41:33):
you as a Jew, and I want you to know
I'm a Jew. I'm a disgusting Jew from all four sides.
I'm a real Jew standing before you, and I want
to share with you what Yiddish cad is all about.
And the next day, this bit of woman you know,
who never spoke to me even while I was ready
in India, she said hello, She came up to me
and she hugged me.

Speaker 11 (41:51):
She was crying. They said, what happened? She wants you
to know?

Speaker 12 (41:57):
Yesterday and you said about yourself. I'm a disgusting from
all four sides. Couldn't help looking at myself. I said
with w Who am I fooling? Who am I fooling?
I'm not the Hindu, I'm not the Buddhist.

Speaker 11 (42:11):
I'm a yeak.

Speaker 12 (42:12):

Everybody says Poland is full of anti Semitism, So my
motherums are so good, so do something about it.

Speaker 11 (42:41):
So everybody goes through the graves.

Speaker 12 (42:43):
The outswitz comes back and says, it's terrible, nothing happens,
won't you know? As a privilege arriving in Poland and
the whole nation greeted us thousands, thousands, thousands of people, and.

Speaker 11 (42:54):
Wherever I went, I just told her. One thing of
Nachman says.

Speaker 12 (42:57):
If you believe that you can destroy, why did you
also believe you can rebuild. It says the destruction of
the world began here in the most awesome way. It
has to begin here. We have to open the gates
of love and peace. Now, once you know at all
those concerts with thousands of people obviously non Jews, a
few Jews, but mostly Unjews there like at them, Sha

(43:18):
had come.

Speaker 11 (43:20):
That's one part of the thing. The same.

Speaker 12 (43:21):
But is that you know there are thousands, thousands of
young people in Poland's parents they're given away as babies
to nan Jews and they never come out of the hole.

Speaker 11 (43:31):
Then we were there, hundreds came out. They said, my
mother was Jewish, my father was Jewish, my brother was Jewish.
And I wish, I wish I could go back and
collect them. We had hundreds of names and and then

and then the coursion might get told them the Lamadolf sadly,
the Schwartzerwolf, he invites you for shoppers, he can bless you,
but the whole shoppers passed.

Speaker 11 (44:24):
He didn't invite him. Well, then he looks out, it's
three stars shoppers of Sommer.

Speaker 12 (44:31):
Then suddenly realized the Schwartzuov is the only one who
came blessed me this ship.

Speaker 11 (44:35):
Isn't there one God.

Speaker 12 (44:39):
Like never before, like never before, begin praying, is the
master of the world, please give me children. At that moment,
the Schwartzerwolf came in and invited him for shovers, and
I went, you know, driveling all over the world, and
there's so many people tell me because of that story,
if it didn't give up the books and we have children.

(44:59):
I was here years ago and the couple came up
to me, if you know twenty years you have no children.
We got your tape and began pring again. How we
have two children?

Speaker 14 (45:10):
