You're listening to Talk Line with Zev Brenner, America's premier
Jewish broadcast on the year since nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 9 (07:06):
And now here's your host, and we're.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Back into the Netherlands we go because that's the scene
of some terrible anti sevenitism pug rum where Jews Israelis
were beaten in the streets. And with us right now,
the leaders of the Jewish community in Netherlands, our guest
Hanan Ritzberger. He is a chairman of Central Jewish Board.
Then Judy's the first Jewish Lady of Holland. So welcome

(07:31):
to the program with thank you for joining us. Good Judy,
good to see you again after all these years.

Speaker 19 (07:35):
Thank you for having us.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
So just let's start at the beginning, because your life
in Holland, it's been a great Jewish life up until
October seventh of last year, correct, absolutely, and then after
what happened in Israel, what happened, things started to change.

Speaker 14 (07:50):
It's actually not a nice, quiet life, quaint you know,
coming from New York, it's extremely low key. You know.
After October seventy, antisemitism that was just under the surface,
which is I think more or less worldwide, resurfaced and
just came back in Avene.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
So we do a lots of demonstrations, whether physically attacks
on Jews after October seventh.

Speaker 20 (08:13):
No, not that much. I always described we have two
we have two major, two major problems. One problem is,
let's say the Vogue community was very influential in the
cultural sector. Jews people have a lot of difficulties of renting,
renting places where we can have Jewish lecturers or Jewish

(08:36):
plays or Jewish events. These are really being blocked a
lot by this cultural center. Also, what they say and
what they post that Israel is doing genocide and a
parkhead state and all these kinds of things really influence
a lot the life in the cultural sector. The same
thing in universities. You see this also the United States.

(08:58):
We have the same things that that one group the
other group is and not all but a few Muslims
really are are going after Jews. They're they're chanting, they
have a lot of websites. They are harassing people, they're
threatening people, and that's that's a very big problem. It's

(09:19):
one big site called sub Loco and there are I
think more than more than five hundred thousand followers and
a lot of harassments against Jews. So that's that's the
real thing. And a lot of Jews don't feel don't
feel safe. A lot of people, you know, take away
the mazusa, they take away there, the yamaka they don't
wear anymore again, the beach. So there's a lot of

(09:41):
tension in Holland since since October sin October's evens now.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
How many Jews are there?

Speaker 20 (09:48):
And around forty thousand.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Jews and Muslims. That's the number of the Muslims.

Speaker 20 (09:54):
Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Wow, say after October seventh, they made it harder to
have cultural events, Jewish events. Jew's been afraid to walk
around with the Yamaicus or Stars or David because of
the tension in the air.

Speaker 20 (10:07):
Yes, but I have to tell you people, my my
fellow Jews are often very afraid. And I have to
tell you that I walk around with Mayamaica and I
never had a I never had an issue. But you know,
by us if if one person ever got harressed, everybody
is scared. And we understand we all have parents who

(10:28):
and grandparents who went through the war, so everybody is
always always afraid and always on the cove. And so
but I have to tell you we also have to
as Jewish people, we have to we have to deal
with it. You know, there is an anti semitism. And
today in the interview, I said, we have to go
there's a lot of events and send antisemitism now. So
I told them we have to go back to the

(10:49):
normal anti semitism, normal acceptable anti semitism level. But uh,
to to explain to you what happens.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Yeah, what's what's normal anti semitism? We just say dirty
jew and that's what does it mean normal?

Speaker 20 (11:01):
I think? And and a little a little arrastments and
you know your people don't get a promotion, but they
need the promotion. Or you choose know everything about money,
or you.

Speaker 19 (11:10):
Control the world, or you can help media.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
That's acceptable.

Speaker 20 (11:15):
I mean, that's what we live is already for for centuries,
you know, it's that's that's what it is. But the
big outburst came when President Hertsop came to the Netherlands,
to be by the opening of the Holocaust Museum with
a very very beautiful Holocaust museum, and he he was
there by the opening, and then there was a lot

(11:35):
of people made protests against him because he is the
he is the president of a genocide nation. And then
when there was a lot of protests and these protests
went out of hand, I think they were underestimated by
the police.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
And when was this visit, when was these protests? What
was in the in in March in March of this year, okay.

Speaker 20 (11:56):
And then uh and and then a lot of polarization
happened because let's say, the more right wing politicians and
people really spoke very much against all these all these
protests and they got a lot of pologation, especially in
the city of Amsterdam.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
So that's the background. So leading up to the mccabee
team and Israeli supporters come, what about two thousands of
them and tech us through.

Speaker 20 (12:21):
So what happened exactly whateverened. Okay, So the the the
mccavick team walked in and they what they did was
the game was on Thursday, so most people came on
Tuesday and Wednesday, and they they took away some Palestinian
flig flags which were in town.

Speaker 19 (12:42):
They were hanging on buildings.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
So who took down the Palestinian flags the flags that
were on the on the public buildings okay.

Speaker 20 (12:51):
Yeah, an the public buildings and people's homes, people on
the window, and they took them down. Maybe I think
there were two or three of these events. They were
also chant think some some songs which are not nice
to the to the air people, and that doesn't happen.
But this is happening all the time. If you have
if you're anywhere aware of soccer games in Europe, this

(13:12):
is happening all the time.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
And how many homes that have Palestinian flags they took
it down was just a handful.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
What are we talking?

Speaker 20 (13:18):
Yeah, maybe two or three or three.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Okay, so two or three they took down two or
three flags that were chanting Israeli chance, okay.

Speaker 20 (13:26):
And then on on Wednesday night, groups of of mainly
mainly youngsters of air descent went to when to already
harass some some group of Israeli supporters. We have to
run into the casino and there were some some flights

(13:47):
there which was still a little bit minimal, but it
was there, and that would happened on Wednesday. Wednesday night,
on Thursday, they all went to the to the stadium
and what I stood by the stadium already some groups
already gathered. Nothing happened yet. And after the game, it
was the games out of the nine o'clock, so it
was finished around eleven. The supporters came back and when

(14:10):
it came back to the to the city center, was
a big confrontation with young Arabs. And again I want
to say that many many good apps in at alland
but these were not How many of.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Them were there, these bad Arabs that were attacking Jews
looking to beat them.

Speaker 20 (14:26):
I think the official numbers had that much. But what
I hear from people, there were a few under there, a.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Few hundred were looking to beat up Jews in Israel,
and really nothing to do with the fly. I know
the New York Times mentioned about the flags being torn down,
but that was the day earlier and that had nothing
to do with the confrontation at the back of the
game itself.

Speaker 14 (14:44):
Definitely the you know, Masam, you really looking and searching
for Jews or in israelis and they beat.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Up some pretty badly from what I've ever seen.

Speaker 20 (14:53):
Yeah, I mean thank god, nobody got nobody got killed.

Speaker 14 (14:56):
Some people were hospitalized and one had a broke them up,
but thank god they were released and everybody's back home.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
We got thousands of Israelis that came that came to
the to the soccer game and twenty six twenty six,
almost three thousand with that.

Speaker 20 (15:12):
But but but the big, but the big, the big
problem was that that at one point in the middle
of the night, you know, the the Israelis were there.
There were there were people on the on the streets
looking for Israelis. They didn't there to move, get out
of the get out of the hotel, or going into
a hotel. So it was a lot of a lot
of men certainty that that Thursday night evening, and a

(15:35):
lot of a lot of panicking by by Israeli Israeli
supported So my son called me out of bed at
two fifteen. He says, Daddy, we need to act now
because things are going pretty bad. So I was luckily
and in touch with the Israeli ambassador, with the Abbot
Rabbi of the Israelis who did a tremendous shock job

(15:57):
for Rabi queba commissaire and some other people. Also is
the mayor. I was on the app to the city situation.
And then a lot of unbelievable I think maybe thirty
forty Jewish people went to town and got the people
out of the hotel and brought them to the airport
because the first flight was the seven o'clock and except

(16:17):
second flight of the night. But nobody trust the taxi drivers.
But I forgot to tell you that we think it
was all orchestered by the Uber texi drivers.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Well, the Uber drivers were right. Tell us about Uber
because I know Uber said the upset, But how could
be a whole group of Uber drivers? Do we know
how many of them?

Speaker 4 (16:33):
What do they do exactly?

Speaker 14 (16:34):
Judy, Well, it's unclear how many, and obviously they're annoying it.
But we believe that they were in contact with each other,
in contact with the youth. A lot of the youth
were on scooters, a little motorcycles, and as soon as
the taxi drivers told them okay, the police just left,
they would come out of little alleyways and attack morjuice.

(16:55):
And that's sort of how they orchestrated a lot of
the attacks in town on Thursday night. So we believed
that the taxi drivers were involved some receptionists in hotels also,
you know told you know the Moroccans amus on youth. Okay,
you know some of the Israelis are in room this
and this or number that and that. So the people

(17:19):
that were you know, in the hotels and hiding and
I don't know whatever it is restaurants or the casino wherever,
were afraid to get into taxis. So my son, together
with a lot of youth, were you know, going into
town picking up people, picking up Israelis, picking up a
tourists and bringing them to the airport. At a certain
point around five six in the morning, my husband together
with Maccabi Hollands David Beasemar, arranged like a safe house

(17:44):
in Amsulfan with the south to the city and they
just stayed there until they were hosting people's homes. They
got food for them, medical care, anything they needed.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
They were taken care of.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Over how long period of time where these rioters, these
programmers just running around looking for Israelis. It seems like
it was all night from what you're saying, is that correct?

Speaker 20 (18:09):
I think it's four or for thirty am it was
required again, So it looks like for two three hours, two.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Or three hours.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
We're looking at the progrum and happened the Netherlands. Our

Jewish broadcast on the year since nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 10 (23:34):
And now here's your host.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
We're looking at the program and happened in Netherlands. Our
guests is Hannan Herzberger, chairman of the Central Jewish Board.
They're the spokespeople for all Jewish affairs in the country,
and Judy's the first Jewish Lady of Holland. My question
to you is where was the police they're supposed to
be protecting there supposed to be games.

Speaker 20 (23:54):
Where were they during the games? They were there were
other police during the game, but that's the game.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
Yeah, the game was very peaceful.

Speaker 19 (24:01):
It was It was a nice game.

Speaker 14 (24:03):
The only negative about the game was mccaby lost a
lot of the I supported. I was the only one
for Yues, Maccabi Tel Aviv and everything. I guess all
helped procluse after the game.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
But there's around and if it's two three hours that
they were running around, so the police should have been alerted.
So why warrants they enforced and protecting the Israelis.

Speaker 20 (24:26):
Because the problem is that whenever the police was somewhere,
they leave and when they when they when the police left,
they came back. I mean, they're all the police were
in on it. I've seen some reasons that that I
have to contradict because there have been.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Some news reports that some of the policemen were supporting
the programmers, the rioters.

Speaker 20 (24:48):
Maybe I've not heard it. I have pretty good sources,
so I don't think that maybe they were not that
that's friendly to certain people that can be, but I
don't think they were in the into the riots. The
taxi drivers were definitely but police.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
But would you say that there should have been more
of a police presence once they were alerted that Israelis
are being beaten and these mobs are looking to get them,
So shouldn't have been a stronger police presence on the streets.

Speaker 20 (25:14):
Okay, but that's a whole There was a whole debate
today in the in the in the city council about it,
and they all went through it. But unfortunately I had
I had a meeting with some was the Prime minister,
and so I couldn't follow it yet there. But in
the hindsight there should have been much more police, but
at the moment the one not there. And it's very

(25:36):
difficult also for them to stop groups of four or five,
six ten people on the on the on scooters in
the city like Amslam, where you have many where you
have many alleys, you know, so easy to hide and
easy to appear.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
Now you mentioned the Prime minister. The Prime Minister had
contacted you, I believe on Friday, right before Shabbato.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
What happened.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
He gave him an option to come to your house
for that Friday night.

Speaker 20 (26:01):
Yeah, I know. It was a little a funny story.
So the Prime Minister office called me at twelve o'clock
and he said, on Friday twelve o'clock and he says,
it's the Prime Minister is in Budapest on the European
Union Union meeting. I know, but he wants to talk
to you. I said, okay, you can. You can call
me to four forty. We've got Bennie shaves. So the

(26:23):
advisor says, okay, but what do we do? Then I said, okay,
then he can call me on much of Shabas at
six o'clock the night you can call me. Then he
go back, So the Prime Minister really want to see Okay,
can't you make an exception? I said, no, that's what
we don't make exceptions. But you can tell the Prime
Minister he can come to my home. So then he
called back to them and they said, he says, okay,
the Prime Minister will be there. Can you make sure

(26:44):
there are some Jewish leaders by you? So we had
I went quickly to show, I came, I came back
and we did the reverse. So we had some desserts
and then the Prime Minister came and we had a
good talk, and when he left, we made kiddish. Of
course for the Jewish Orthodox people. We didn't eat anything
only after kiddish. But so I can wrest you were sure,

(27:06):
but that's what happened.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
And why did you make kiddish for the Prime Minister?

Speaker 20 (27:09):
Why?

Speaker 19 (27:10):
Because I know, I know we had some gifts.

Speaker 14 (27:15):
So actually I'm just finished, sit in the table and
calls me at four pm. Shops at four forty and
he said, the Prime Minister is coming. I'm like, oh
my goodness, I have to take out more shot met
in pup pastry as the avatarzer.

Speaker 20 (27:27):
I have soup in the freezer.

Speaker 19 (27:28):
I have chicken.

Speaker 14 (27:28):
I could throw it in the in the oven. I said, no, no,
he's not coming for dinner, just coming for dessert. I said,
how can I first eat and then have dessert. So no, no,
don't worry. We will first have dessert and then we
will you know, take everything off the table, change the
table both, and then we'll you know, have the dinner
with the guests that was supposed to be coming. So
I looked at him like, okay, fine, but don't kill
me if the turkey will be extremely dry, not my fault.

Speaker 19 (27:50):
So that's what we did.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
Actually, Yeah, but yeah, why did you make kiddish and
then and then you did it? Was he wondering that
you weren't having the dessert with him. He was eating
by him us.

Speaker 20 (28:00):
No, no, no, we had some some other leaders as well.
But it was a little bit strange Friday night, especially
for people who are your mission. But but okay, it
worked out, and he was he really felt the necessity
to speak to us and to to tell us how
worried he was. And this is a red line which
is crossed now and and this has to be this

(28:22):
has to be. Uh, measures have to be taken. And
that's what we are working on now since Friday morning,
of rules and new rules and regulations and hopefully they
can they can impose it.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
So it's another night. Maybe it wasn't direct against you.
Was the riots again?

Speaker 20 (28:38):
Yeah, what happened was at the Mayor of Amsterdam decided
that for seven days there cannot be any demonstrations and
all kind of other events, and uh, there were a
lot of protests against it. So last night in the
in the in the area where don't not a lot
of Jews live, but a lot of of the the

(28:59):
air people lived, there were riots, the trend was put
into fire, some police cards were put into fire, and
there was some riots. And for tonight they said again
they will have some riots. So I don't know what
will I don't know what will happen, but we'll no
soon enough. What will happen tonight?

Speaker 4 (29:16):
That is a work.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
So it's only the police. Do they call the army
in when it gets out of hand? What's the procedure.

Speaker 20 (29:22):
We are very very very liberal. We are very liberal
in our country, so we don't call in there. We
don't call in the army.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
So you have the police when it's out of hand.

Speaker 20 (29:31):
Okay, But then we have there's a special special force
of the police, which are the tough guys. So they
call in the tough guys to to control it. And
that's what that's what what happened was last night.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
Now, you said earlier that you wouldn't mind if the
an some went back to normal anti semitism. Would this
be an occasion to say to the Prime Minister and
the powers that be that we can't go back to
normal anti sem We got to work the combat will
anti semitism.

Speaker 20 (29:57):
Yeah, okay, But because there's a Jewish not worth. I
said that this is an illusion. We have a lot
of friends, but we also have a lot of people
for unknown reason do not do not like us. And
it's it's quite a large number of people who are
I don't know, maybe they are jealous or envy or

(30:17):
or a doctrinated something. You know that that that and
this is I know it since I'm alive. You know
my my parents that this isn't. Always be careful for
anti Semitism and always to do your best, work hard,
and then yeah, we will we will survive as a nation.
But anti Semitism is quite quite novel. But I understand

(30:38):
in America in the forties and fifties also quite a
big issue.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
It was an issue, and you had even in the
forties you had terrible ane and some we had it
on the Regia far the conflin you had anti Smittic groups.
Even in Jewish areas like in New York City, you
had groups running around. But the fact is, though, is
that we fight anti Semitism as much as we can.
But it seems to me and I answer this question,
is there a future for Jews in the Netherlands and

(31:03):
the Europe Based on the Santai semences, the muzzles be
growing more powerful, and you see these kinds of incidents
taking place not just in your country but across Europe.

Speaker 19 (31:13):
It's a good question. We don't know.

Speaker 14 (31:15):
But as long as we're here, we're fighting the fight
and were doing what we can, and we're doing what
we can to combat anti Semitism. But the question is
is there a future for Jews anywhere besides Israel? There's
a safety in numbers. I mean in the States there
are a lot of Jews, so there's you know, that
safety and you think that you're safe.

Speaker 19 (31:30):
But is that an illusion?

Speaker 14 (31:32):
There was a memorial for yeah ya sin war today
or yesterday Columba University, right, just I mean it's insane.
You know, it's like the world is a play. It's
the world's on fire and it's upside down, and you know,
we have to do what we can. Now one hand,
you don't want to let them win. You know, we
did survive the war. I'm also child survivors, and you
know you'd fight and you you know, integrate and you

(31:54):
do what you can and you never let.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
You go down.

Speaker 20 (31:57):
But I mean, there is a world, but those a
lot of positive things here in Netherlands are yeah, I
mean have the.

Speaker 21 (32:05):
Year of the Prime minister in the government. They come
to you right away. So okay, that's good. But you know,
I'm used to this as a way of life, and
it's very it's very quiet, it's very.

Speaker 20 (32:16):
Normally. It's a very good life for all your visitors
who have been to to Netherlands. I mean, it's it's
nice here. It's very calm, it's very nice, it's very peaceful,
it's very it's flat, it's it's not a lot of
problems until until let's say, seventh of October lost here.
And I also want to say that.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
A letn't get back to normal because October seventh changed
a lot of things.

Speaker 20 (32:41):
Yeah, yeah I did. I did, and it really got
more polarized and it's it's omily. But you know, on
the other hand, if you if you are a child
and you hear the whole day that the Jews are
are killing babies and the Jews are doing it, and
the Jews are doing that, they've been showing inductrinated, especially

(33:01):
by channels like Algagira and all the other ones. You know,
they think this is the new normal, and it's very
difficult for society to to change that.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
Which makes it more problematic for Jews to live here.

Speaker 20 (33:16):
Yeah, yeah, there's more, it's more problematic. But also yeah,
so we have a book sharing with three kids. One
lives here, two live in Israel. Maybe the boy also
going to as well, who knows. And but I'm here.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Aren't a lot of the young people going to israelm
not staying?

Speaker 20 (33:34):
Yeah, a lot a lot of moving. Yeah, and that's
also a problem because we need we need also Jewish infrastructure.
But as I told you before, I'm staying here because
my family is here ready for a few hundred years.
I'm not moving.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
But you're from Brooklyn, New York. Now your family is
here handan for.

Speaker 20 (33:51):
Since the early seventeen on that so long, and.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
Where they come from originally before the journey.

Speaker 20 (33:59):
So I'm I'm dubbling in the in the same shool
as my great grandfather from two sides. So I'm used
to this. I like it. And as I told you before,
I'm staying at number Loss because somebody needs to close
the light is shoe that's my job.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
Well, well, hopefully things will improve. And by the way,
maybe in the United States it's different. We Jews maybe
assert themselves in a different way and maybe you know,
in Europe they may be more timid because you have
a growing, more violent Muslim population that's expanding and and vocal.
You see this in you in England, you see it
in France, you see Jews. In fact, the chief rabbi

(34:38):
one of the country said not to wear Yamaica in
the street. In the United States, that doesn't fly so well,
but I guess in some of the other countries they've
advised that, and it's a shame.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
It's a shame.

Speaker 20 (34:49):
I just want to give you a heads up because
this is Friday night. There's a game, in a football
game in France, and it's a game France against Israel.
So I ready heard on the here that there will
be more than six thousand police this game.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
So Israeli's left already.

Speaker 20 (35:07):
As Ready's left. But I don't know, I don't know what,
nobody knows what will happen. And France is even.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Yeah, more violent than when is the game taking place.

Speaker 20 (35:18):
It's on Friday night, Friday.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
Night, Okay, So they don't respect Shabbat as far as.

Speaker 20 (35:24):
No, no, no, no, But for you, it's good because
you are in a different time zone, so you can
you can follow what will happen.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
Jews and friends. You know it's uh uh, well, we'll
see what happens. But is it you know which team
is playing?

Speaker 20 (35:39):
The national team of of of Iswel against the national
team of France.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
And they plan on Friday night. I'm surprised that the
national team a visual plan of Friday night, to be
honest with you.

Speaker 20 (35:48):
Yeah, okay, but they also have the normal soccer and
the normal soccer games are also in traveling as well.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Okay, that's true too, but overseas. Okay, there's something which
we will have to take up and away. I thank
you for your leadership, but what it's it like being
the leader aside from these emergencies, what's it like on
a day to day basis?

Speaker 20 (36:06):
And Judy, that's good listen. I also have my own business.
Is it's a part time on paid job. But I'm
very proud and to do this. I mean, it's a
community we love. So if you can give a little
bit back, then we're happy, happy to do it.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Are you saying something new Journey?

Speaker 14 (36:23):
No, absolutely, but since iventh of October has actually become
its full time job. And you know his business is
actually you know aside and thank god, you know you
can do it.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
What is your business that when you're not doing with
dealing with these emergencies?

Speaker 20 (36:36):
I do something with credit insurance. But that's also a
very long talk. Maybe before for another time. Next time
I can tell you what what business I do.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Well, we'll keep we'll keep it well. Listen. Thank you
for your leidership, thank you for standing strong, and I

You're listening to Talk Line with Zev Brenner, America's premier
Jewish broadcast on the year since nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 9 (40:15):
And now here's your host.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
Welcome back to the program, Moms, zeb Browne to Israel
we go. You know Israel real estate it's hot now
despite these situation since October seventh, people in American across
the world want to buy real estate and Israel. And
instead of you're going to Israel to look at the
real estate, they're coming to us here in America. Sometimes
communities try to block him, but they're doing it doing

(40:39):
very successful job. Get the Cats has been doing at
least sixteen of these trips to America. Now he's doing
the seventeenth and eighteenth to help Israel and help his
real estate companies. And he is the CEO of the
international marketing promotion called IMP. Welcome back to the show.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
Thank you for joining us, Hi Zev, how you doing good?

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Thank God, thank God. Listen, you're making it easy for
people to buy Israel real estate. You're bringing twenty vendors
on average, and you're doing it in New York and
doing it in Florida and other parts of the country.
But I know sometimes communities, not the Jewish communities, but
sometimes they don't want to pay for protection. They will
give you a hard time. I think it's some parts
in New Jersey. They gave you a hard time in September, right,

(41:20):
not because.

Speaker 20 (41:20):
You were right.

Speaker 23 (41:22):
Look, I focus on the positive side of it, and
at the end of the day, I know that we
have many, many people in the different neighborhoods in the
metro New York area and in other places in the
country that are looking to buy in Israel. Going they
want someone on the seashore, someone in yoursial Libe, someone
with Aish, someone in Ranana, and we're bringing them what.

Speaker 20 (41:45):
They are looking for.

Speaker 19 (41:47):
So I'm again, I'm looking only positive.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
No, listen, it's not from a security point of view.
It's just that some of the municipalities don't want to
allocate the resources to having protection for you. And that's
what while they said, don't show up because we want
to spend the money elsewhere.

Speaker 23 (42:03):
Right, So unfortunately some of the police departments. That's the
way they have with their approach. But we also are
taking slightly more protection precaution, I mean, and making sure
to invite those who pre registered, and making sure that
there's no clashes with any other minorities in New York

(42:24):
area that may be lacking us. So we were doing
whatever we possibly can to have a safe show, a
professional show, and basically doing our mission.

Speaker 4 (42:38):
And you have your own security.

Speaker 3 (42:40):
And also people, as you said, when they register, they
get the address of the location. You're letting people that
you're doing it like and flappers for example, you're not
giving the address in the ads, right, we.

Speaker 23 (42:52):
Don't give the address like we used to do once
upon a time. But I say also many members of
the community understand that they need a preregister. That's the
way it goes in many events today, and the Kaverim
and the equivalents they vet the names, they make sure
that only members of the community and then they're all
the welcome. We want every possible person that is interested
to come. But these are the you know, these are

(43:12):
the times we're living in.

Speaker 20 (43:13):
And we need to do what we need to do.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
Absolutely, and the fact that this is your seventeenth and
eighteenth you know show that you're doing in the United States.
It means there's a lot of interest. People want to buy.
I think this is since October seventh, more people want
to buy in Israel itself. So tell us about the demand.
Because you keep coming back, it means that more people say,
I want to learn more, I want to be part
of it.

Speaker 20 (43:34):
Right.

Speaker 23 (43:34):
So that's as I think I said in one of
the previous shows that was fascinating to us.

Speaker 19 (43:40):
Within a month into the war, people felt that they
want to be part. They want to be part of
the Israeli community, the parts of Veritistraut.

Speaker 23 (43:47):
They want to have a share, and the best way
to do that is to try and own a property
if you possibly can.

Speaker 20 (43:54):
And what's happened is is two things.

Speaker 23 (43:56):
A the costant community, the American community has expanded not
only in your shall Im and but Shamas and Tel Aviv.
Rather than you could find Anglo communities in Kuri had
got down in the more southern part of Israel. On
Natania has been for many years. This is a very

(44:17):
wide variety, and we see that there's a tremendous demand.
It's on and on and on.

Speaker 19 (44:25):
People are writing to us in between shows. When are
you're coming again?

Speaker 20 (44:29):
Please?

Speaker 23 (44:30):
You know I'm not available today, Can you send me
more details, et cetera.

Speaker 20 (44:34):
So we see that.

Speaker 23 (44:38):
It's true that many of the buyers, they are they're
more sophisticated today, right.

Speaker 20 (44:45):
They know what they're looking for, they know what they
want to buy. They're more educated.

Speaker 23 (44:49):
And I think we've contributed a lot for that because
we are bringing the vendors to come and explain and
go through the process, and lots of other professionals.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
That by the way, I love the expression hutznicks. It's
people buying. A lot of Americans and Anglers are buying, right,
That's that's in Israeli hutznicks. But listen, you have more
English speaking people, you have more English Anglo speaking communities
in Israel. On as you said, it's it's broadened itself.
Now when you're bringing the twenty vendors now to the

(45:19):
United States. Is not just vendors, he started saying, you're
bringing the attorneys. Who else is coming to help answer questions?

Speaker 1 (45:25):
So, as I said, to.

Speaker 23 (45:27):
Buy a property anywhere in the world, it is relative
the same in that respect, there's biocracy involved, there's taxes,
and there's money transfer issues.

Speaker 20 (45:36):
If any American citizen today is an issue.

Speaker 23 (45:39):
Someone wants to borrow money, he wants to get a
mortgage and center, et cetera.

Speaker 20 (45:43):
So all those.

Speaker 23 (45:45):
All those pieces of information are essential for someone to
make his final decision how and where and what he
wants to buy. So in our shows, we have all
those professionals coming and you could go around even once
you decided where you want to buy. It'll help you
do the whole transaction in the most more efficient and

(46:06):
easy manner.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
Now, are these properties ready to move in or some
of them developments that may take a while before they're
fully constructed.

Speaker 23 (46:15):
Oh, there's many, there's some that are ready to move in.
There's some, And I think that helps lots of potential
buyers in America. Many people say, hey, I know, I've
got some middletown plan in three, four, five, six years.
In the meantime, I'll buy something that will be ready
in four years. You should know, anyone who buys in Israel, by.

Speaker 20 (46:38):
Law, is protected from his first dime that he puts in.

Speaker 4 (46:41):
What does that mean.

Speaker 20 (46:42):
There's the banker's guarantee.

Speaker 23 (46:44):
So if you buy a from a builder, an apartment
that is going to be built, and you you know,
you put fifty one hundred, one hundred and fifty thousand
dollars down, then your money is one hundred percent secure.
You get a bank is guaranteed by law, you must
you get that. And so people say, Okay, I'm going

(47:06):
a problem. I'll do what I need to do and
it'll take three, four or five six years. I'll wrap
up my plans in America and I'll be ready to
move to my apartment when it's ready.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Now you also notice that you're promoting new tax breaks.
Tell us about that.

Speaker 23 (47:20):
There's lots of laws in Israel today that assist those
who actually want to move to Israel. But even if
they don't, you should know that because of the war,
there's going to be a few tax increases. So for instance,
that in every apartment the part of the price is
seventeen is seventeen percent tax. The tax is going to

(47:42):
go up to eighteen percent, So one percent on apartment
is a few thousand dollars. This could come to ten
to fifteen thousand dollars. So it's worth trying to close
the deal in the next two months before the tax
goes out. So the all lease piece of information you'll
be able to get from the experts in the show.

Speaker 3 (47:59):
So, in other words, be for the end of the year.
There are tax benefits if you close a deal.

Speaker 20 (48:03):
Yes, for sure.

Speaker 23 (48:04):
For sure, there's benefits for those who want to invest,
and there's benefits for those who want to make a move.

Speaker 3 (48:10):
Do they also help with ali Yah?

Speaker 23 (48:11):
It's a separate issue, but I'm saying that ALII effects
real estate buyers.

Speaker 3 (48:16):
Now, you're going to be having these events in New
York and Flora. Tell us the dates. I don't want
you to tell us the location. People want the location,
they got to contact you and you'll vet them and
make sure that their coachre to go. But if people
want to know the dates and the places where they
should be for the real estate shows, where's it going
to be.

Speaker 20 (48:33):
We're going to have the first event on Monday evening
in monthy.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
That's November eighteen.

Speaker 20 (48:38):
Tuesday evening, we're gonna have in Flatbush.

Speaker 23 (48:41):
Anyone who hears us in Florida, So we're coming down
to Florida, and on Thursday we're going to be in Hollywood.
Sunday we're going to be in Bell Harbor, Surfside and Monday,
we're wrapping it up with Boca Raton.

Speaker 19 (48:54):

Speaker 3 (49:17):
How often do you come now because of the war,
people than not trying visual as much? Is there any
special amount? Is it every month? Two months? What's your
schedule like?

Speaker 23 (49:26):
Well, you need to book a flight two or three
months ahead. There's no flights out. There's just no flights
out within you know, two weeks notice, you can't.

Speaker 3 (49:36):
So you have to really plan. But you can't just
say I'm going to be here next week, you got it,
I'm going to be here in a month or two.

Speaker 23 (49:42):
We're waiting for more carriers to come back, but until
that happens, we are with our Israeli carriers.

Speaker 3 (49:49):
Well, I thought you can go to Europe and five
from Europe Israel, but you're saying it's not easy even
to go from Mi Israel to Europe now.

Speaker 19 (49:54):
Again it's most most of the seats to Europe too
are pretty full.

Speaker 23 (49:59):
Yeah, I've I've seen people go to London, people go
to Rome and take uh you know, connection flights from
there with other carriers if they can't find that.

Speaker 19 (50:09):
But also that is pretty full.

Speaker 3 (50:11):
So if you really want to So if people can't
go to Israel to see promptly, they have to go
to these shows. If you really want to get the
full information right.

Speaker 23 (50:20):
You're planning to come for your winter break, you should
have booked your ticket before. If you want to plan
for PAYCFT, now's the Times book that I'm endorsing anyone.

Speaker 3 (50:29):
But by the way, it used to be poorer when
the joke was but you had to start planning for paycift.
Now you've got to start planning now for payoff. We
want to got Israel especially, so get on cats. By
the way, my last coach, we've let you go. What's
your biggest challenge because you have to get air flight,
you got to get the vendors involve you hot to
get the lawyers, the insurance. So it must be a

(50:50):
massive undertaking because it's hard to leave.

Speaker 23 (50:53):
Yes, so I that is probably our biggest challenge. You
know vendors that they have plans. Some of our vendors
serve in the IDF and they're not always sure when
they could leave, and that's why they can't really.

Speaker 20 (51:05):
Book flights before.

Speaker 23 (51:06):
So I always have in the last year, five six,
seven vendors that actually couldn't make it because they were
serving and then you know it was too late for
them to book a flight.

Speaker 20 (51:18):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (51:19):
