Speaker 1 (00:00):
Filling in for Mark. Here's Ken Rosatto and it's always
an honor to do so. A Happy Thursday to you.
And yes, I was the guy who was on TV
in New York for about a thousand years, back when
TV was a fake cardboard box and a little piece
of plastic and somebody would sit inside the box and say, Hello, Sunday,
we'll have a TV. I've Ket Rosato. And yeah, I
used to be on Channel seven. I was there for
(00:22):
twenty years. Yes, they literally built the station around my body.
I spent some time anchoring Good Day in New York
as well on Channel five. That was a good time.
Now I host a daily show on a New Jersey
based news channel. It is called on New Jersey. We
talked about that in the last hour. It's one of
these new streaming channels which is free to the public.
(00:44):
It's the next level. The next generation of television is
now this best. People cut the cord. They don't want
to pay for cable anymore. So these channels are called
fast channels, and they are free and you can get
them when you buy your like Samsung TV or Sony whatever.
They come with like a tho th channels that are
free that's one of the channels that I'm on on
New Jersey. You can also stream it on your phone
(01:05):
at ONNJ dot com. And I run a food website
for you, Foodiaes. If you're like me and you love
food and all things food, go to Thefooddude dot us.
It's one hundred percent free Thefooddude dot Us. Well, we
got a lot to talk about today. Our phone lines
are open. We'd love for you to call up take
part in the conversation today, and the number is always
(01:27):
is one eight hundred three two one zero seven ten
eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Well, of course,
tonight is the big Mayl Debate. It's on Channel four
from seven to nine, and David Ushery is going to
be taking care. David is awesome, so he'll do a
great job. Love David works with him. In fact, when
(01:48):
I started at Channel seven, David had just left Channel
seven to go to Channel four, and I had only
met him a couple of times. But anytime we see
each other, he could not be a nicer guy. And
I know he's going to do great. So, of course
we have Curtis, Mom, Donnie and Andrew Cuomo. Tonight we
have a lot of people who are supporting Curtis. Even
though he's third in the polls, he still believes he
(02:09):
has that shot, and we keep our fingers crossed for him.
Jeanne MONDAMMI and Andrew Clomo believed that migrants should vote.
I say no. They of for no cash bail. I
say no. Mom Donnie in the meantime has his own beliefs,
of course, and he has not been secretive about it. Yesterday,
of course he was on Fox News Channel. They could
not nail him down on a few things. Here's Mom
(02:30):
Donnie talking about Andrew Cuomo.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Andrew, you had your chance to lead this state. You
took that time to sell out working class New Yorkers
to your billionaire donors, and instead of actually meeting the
needs of people who couldn't afford to live in the city,
you gave nine hundred and fifty nine million dollars in
tax breaks to Elon Musk And now you want us
to believe that we can't spend less money than that
to make every bus fast and free in the same.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
City fast and free. First of all, buses can't be
fast because the roads are congested. As long as you
make bike lanes every They're ubiquitous in New York City.
You know streets that are supposed to be made for
vehicles and buy vehicles, I mean cars and trucks. You know,
liberals love their little bithickle Let's get a little bithickles jingchingching.
(03:14):
Even people on bikes can't get from point A to
point B quickly. We do need roads for things like
cars and trucks. I will never understand it. I have
relatives and friends who live in Manhattan, and they get
very manhattan centric and arrogant and selfish about it, and
they say, basically, they just want their street locked down
and shut down forgetting that. You know what, You still
(03:34):
have to get food delivered to the restaurants. You still
want your Amazon package delivered to you, but you don't
want any means for that. You don't want the roads
to be utilized by motor vehicles. Can't have it both ways, folks.
If you want to live in a three thousand foot
tall building and have twenty thousand people in that building,
somehow you have to get supplies to them, and you're
not going to get it with somebody walking in or
(03:55):
coming in with a donkey. Okay, that's not the way
it works. You need motor vehicles. And then, of course
Andrew Cuomo is going to be there tonight as well,
and I'm sure he'll have his opinions about his two
people he's running against.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Mister Mandami's plan for Rikers Island is either incoherent and
incompetent or diabolically manipulated.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
It almost took twenty seconds for him to say diabolically manipulative.
I was talking to my almost ninety five year old
father the other day about this, God bless him, and
we were talking about the cadence of Andrew Cuomo's voice
and how Mario Cuomo rest his soul. And I had
(04:44):
met Mario Cuomo a number of times. Mario Cuomo kind
of had that unusual cadence, that strange accent, strange by us.
It's sort of the Queen's accent from the nineteen fifties,
which for those I'm like an accent nut. The Queen's
accent from the nineteen fifties has almost a Boston sound
mixed in with a strange slow case. So Mario Cuomo
(05:07):
sort of had that. Andrew Cuomo sounds like he's trying
to copy his dad. But going at one third the speed.
So you have this very slow cade. Thence Mark does
andrew much better than me. I'm not going to try
to keep going, but nonetheless, we'll see what happens tonight.
You have Zoron Mamdani in the polls leading by anywhere
(05:29):
from nine to eleven points right now, but who knows.
Hopefully people will watch tonight and they'll learn more about
what's going on, and also, more importantly, hopefully more people
come out and vote. Don't let the next mayor of
New York get decided on by about ten or fifteen
percent of eligible voters. That is just antithetical to our
(05:51):
democratic republic. Seven ten wore the Voice of New York.
It's Ken Rozotto. I'm in for Mark, and Mark will
be back tomorrow. For those wondering, Ken, we like you,
but get lost, we want Mark back. While I'm with you,
I like listening to the Mark two. I've tried my best,
so bear with me. We will take your calls at
eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten. Eight
(06:12):
hundred three two one zero seven ten. Well, now we
also have big news about the shutdown. The government shutdown.
The Senate held yet another vote yesterday. They're holding another
one today on whether to accept the continuing resolution to
reopen the federal government. Once again, the Democrats stood firm,
(06:32):
voting against the plan, thus keeping the government closed. So
when Marcus said this before, I've said this on my
show in New Jersey, this is the Schumer shutdown. Why
everybody in the House on the Republican side passed the
continuing resolution to continue the spending plan that was voted
on and approved by Democrats a year ago under Biden?
(06:55):
So why was it okay then? And we're only talking
about passing a continue resolution that will last a few
weeks so we can continue the debate for the new budget.
Why was it okay then when Biden was president? But
it's not okay now. Democrats huhm. It is a as
they call a clean bill, meaning it was exactly a
continuation of the existing budget, and Democrats won't vote for
(07:20):
that in the Senate. Remember, in the Senate, you need
sixty votes to pass a spending measure, not just a
simple majority. Republicans have the simple majority, but they don't
have sixty votes, and CHUCKI, Chuck Schumer is ensuring that
they will not give any votes to the Republicans to
pass this. It's not just the Republicans, CHUCKI Chuck, it's
(07:41):
to the nation. You complain for years that the very
thing we can have is a government shut down. Well
your party is causing it. This is the Schumer shut down.
So now Donald Trump has a middle finger back to
Chucky Chuck, saying that you know what the Gateway Tunnel product,
which is for billions of dollars and is going to
(08:03):
employ thousands of people in New York and New Jersey
for that matter. The Gateway Tunnel project was made possible
by a grant, a grant, not a congressionally approved amount
of money, but a grant signed in by President Biden.
And now that the government is shut down, President Trump
is the chief executive. He runs everything when Congress is
(08:26):
out because they're they're broke, right, the government's shut down.
So he has canceled the grant. He didn't say temporarily,
he said it's terminated, Chucky Chuck. This was something that
Chucky Chuck worked on for twenty years. This was going
to be what he left his legacy, and it's now
shut down.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Here was Trump yesterday, we're terminating those programs and they're
going to be terminated on a permanent basis, and it's
thousands of people, and it's you know, billions of dollars.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Yeah, that's what it is. CHUCKI Chuck. So now his
legacy is mud okay, and we all have to suffer
for it. By the way, yes, we need that tunnel.
We had Mike oh Rasmussen from the Rebevision Institute at
Writer University on in the last hour. He's a friend
of mine, a political expert, and he pointed out that, yeah,
everybody's going to suffer because we need this tunnel. The
(09:13):
tunnel right now that connects New York and New Jersey
is what actually connects the entire Northeast Corridor for Amtrak
and all the other trains. And the tunnel is over
one hundred years old. The tracks are crumbling. We need
a new tunnel with new tracks and new technology. And
now it looks like we have a major setback. Do
not blame Donald Trump for it. You want to have
that track back, you got to open up the government,
(09:36):
Chuck E. Chuck, get your couple of Democrats in the Senate.
All you need is four or five Democrats to vote
along with every one of the Republicans except for one.
The one is Rand Paul. But every other Republican is
supporting this. Get to work and you could have your
money back in the meantime. Sorry, but it's going to
be shut down. Governor hokel all of shit about it
(09:58):
yesterday said this.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
This is not sticking it to New York. This is
the Northeastern Corridor. To make sure that our tunnels are safe.
They're damaged by Superstorm Sandy. They're over one hundred years old.
We need to replace them because if this system of
transportation collapses, the Northeastern economy and economy the country collapsed.
So why be so shortsighted.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Well, maybe you could talk to Chucky Chuck Schumer about that, Kathy,
and get a couple of Democrats to support the continuing
Resolution to reopen the government and we could get it back.
Do not put the blame in the wrong place. This
lies strictly with the Democrats in the Senate. Eight hundred
three to two one zero seven ten, eight hundred three
(10:38):
to two one zero seven ten. You're listening to seven
ten wo R the Voice of New York. This is
Canrosatto in for the Great Mark Simone, Mister New York.
Mark has a day off, but he will be back tomorrow,
so you and I both get to listen to it. Hey,
are you a fan of the late Diane Keaton? Was
she not amazing? A wonderful actress? She had just such
(11:01):
a likable way about her and everything that she did.
And we now find out how she died. We find
out that it was from pneumonia at the age of
seventy nine. You'll recall she died last Saturday. May she
rest in peace and Mss Keaton, thank you. I was
a big fan. Thank you for the many years of
joy that you gave to so many people. Just a wonderful,
(11:21):
wonderful actress. Katie Porter remains absolutely cuckoo Kachew missus Robinson nuts.
That's the congresswoman from California who's running for governor of
the Golden State. While she sat down for another interview
and she could not confirm to the reporter that there
weren't more videos of her screaming, losing her cool and
(11:43):
being angry, the reporter asked her several times, can you
tell me right now that we will not find another
video of you popping up on the days ahead, And
she just said I've learned from my mistakes. I'm wrong,
I'm trying to do my b The answer is yeah,
there are probably tons of videos out there. Why because
she's crazy. She is crazy.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
This is a.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Woman you could tell and boy, I'm going to give
you my dime store psychology here. This is a woman
who was never told no. This is a woman who
was never criticized by mommy and daddy, and you could
just tell she just got away. She was my daddy's
little princess and told that she could have anything she
wants because anyone who does anything around her that she
disagrees with, she just blows up.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
At.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Her own husband divorced her, she dumped. According to the
divorce filing, she allegedly dumped boiling hot water with mashed
potatoes on his head, causing him to get scalded. Who
does that? I mean, even if you were seriously angry
at somebody, if you ever thought about taking a boiling
hot pot of something and dumping it on their heads,
who does this? She may have a very serious anger
(12:51):
management issue just based on the videos we've seen and
reading about that this is just not acceptable. Yet she
has a lead in the polls right now. In California
fifteen percent, granted, and there's a big pool of people
running for governor. It's not in this November's election, by
the way, it is next November's election. But the idea
(13:12):
that there are people in the Democrat Party who are
so crazy in California that they are still standing behind
her because as far as she's concerned, she can do
no wrong as far as they're concerned, I should say.
And while she is in the lead, there are other
candidates you people in California, you know, including other Democrat candidates.
By the way, although if you're a political junkie like me,
(13:35):
you probably would support Steve Hilton, the guy who used
to be on Fox News Channel. He's the guy with
the British accent. Super brilliant. He just became a US
citizen in the last few years, very proud to be
and he is very proud to be running for governor
of California. Remember Arnold Schwarzenegger was a man who was
a naturalized US citizen as well, and he was a
very successful governor there in the past. So we'll see
(13:58):
what happens. Steve Hilton's not too far behind. He's about
ten percent in the polls still have a year ago.
But throw your support behind somebody out there, hopefully somebody
on the right. Seven ten WR the Voice of New York.
This is Ken Risotto in for the Great Mark Simon
on your Thursday. Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
(14:18):
If you'd like to call in, we're going to take
calls next eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
Beautiful sunny day today. Highs today in the upper fifties.
Time is eleven twenty one. Will be right back
