Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sodes from mark them off. Now it's turned your turn
to be heard here at seven ten War should be
your place to be reb You got your talk radio
before you can forget about it. Keep it right here anyway,
Let's go if we can to Alan, who's first up

(00:22):
in the queue calling from Pennsylvania. Your turn to be
heard here at seven ten War.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Alan, happy in a healthy media. My brother from another mother.
And I got to tell you that I got to
meet you in nineteen eighty four for the first time.
And whenever I think of the gladiator door at the
Coliseum and how few gladiators have walked through that door,

(00:51):
You're a gladiator in my book. Many people get to
be in the arena, but fewer gladiators, and I commend
you for that. I think you're an incredible New Yorker
and someone that deserves great thanks from people that have
followed him as long as.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I have their I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what, Ellen,
Slowly I turned, step by step. Nineteen eighty four. That
was the year the subway gunman Bernard gets remember that
was right before Christmas, in which while writing downtown on
the Number two train to join his nerdy Wonky friends
talking about the recent edition of Popular Mechanics. He ended

(01:32):
up shooting. Let me see if I can remember Barry Allen,
Troy Canty, James Ramsoor and Daryl Kaby writing two books
about that. They've written two books about that that are
coming out, and now they all want my opinion. Since
I was there side by side knowing what all the

(01:55):
intricate details I see. That's why you got to listen.
Because whether it happened before, or whether it's happening now,
or there are rumors about the future with I'll share
with you towards the end of this show on twelve,
you don't want to go anywhere, and continue to do so,
as I saidstitute for Mark Simone, after the dropping of

(02:15):
the ball, the welcoming in and the New Yeork Year,
the swearing inns are on Mondami and obviously I'll be
here till January second. But I love being a gladiator.
The question is who's better as a gladiator, Russell Crowe
or Denzel Your turn to be heard. Let's go if

(02:37):
we can to Bob, who's patiently waiting on the line
from Long Island. Your turn to be heard here at
seven to ten wr.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Hey, Curtiss, Bob Hey, I want to let you know
you're totally wrong about your snowfall statements at the earlier
part of the show. The snowyret switches we've had in
New York of occur since two thousand and if you recall,
in twenty fifteen, we had six consecutive days that one
is for more snow on the ground in Central Park,
which was a record. So you're saying that way back

(03:07):
when those mountains of snow with the snow east winders,
You're actually absolutely wrong.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Oh ho hoasly checked Central Park records. Hold on a second, Bob,
You know what records? I check? How many times they
had to put on my galoshes in order to get
out there and to go to the snow. So you're
telling me that what we're hearing all this fear of
fright in hysteria about this snow fall might be four

(03:33):
six eight inches or more, that it's comparable to what
was happening.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
When I, Curtis just checked the Central Park weather records.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
What the hell would I want to check Central Park
weather records? How about my glatches? How about how many
times I was out there? You were going to Compare
this to when you were growing up. Nineteen the six
Rudy Giuliani eleven snowstorms, twenty inches of snow in the city,

(04:07):
thirty in Staten Island. Really, I say the reason when
I'm having these kinds of snowfalls any longer. See, this
is what bugs people because I believe in global warming
and climate change. Oh my god, how could you say that? Well,
because I believe it's true. I'm sure many of you
think it's fake. Well, guess what, it's not fake. That's

(04:32):
God of Jackie is calling from Pennsylvania. Your turn to
be heard? He at what should be a Newfound station
seven to ten war.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Oh, yes, it is Curtis High. I am born and
raised in the Bronx. You could take the kid out
of the Bronx, but you can't take the Bronx out
of the kid.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Now, I'm a big, big fan of yours, Curtis. Were
you aware that Greg Kelly during the Democrat Democratic Primary
was asking people to vote for Mendani because he hated Cuomo.
Were you're aware of that? And you know I called
him after the November election and I brought that up

(05:11):
to him and he was taken back my husband is
a witness to this, and he goes, well, I have
a right to change my mind, and I'm like, what
a phony Curtis.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Again, Oh yes, and he said it over and over again.
During the Democratic primary, Greg Kelly, who never does show prep,
who knows nothing about politics, and in fact he'll tell
that to his audience. He goes, I really don't know
anything about politics, and then for the next three hours
he'll tell you everything he doesn't know. But you're right.
All during the Democratic primary he was encouraging the listeners,

(05:48):
which is his right to vote for Zorhanmandami and not
for Angew Cuomo. He called Andrew Cormo the Prince of
darkness constantly and rightfully so talked about the fifteen, ten
and elderly who died as a result of his executive
orders during the lockdown and pandemic. And then, boy, you
talk about a pivot in shift. All of a sudden,

(06:11):
he was a Cuomo sexual. He couldn't get enough of
angewl Cuomo. And there's a reason for that. Again, don't
take these people seriously, Jackie. They are like actors and actresses.
If they're given their script, their lines, they're talking points
they can because this is what they believe and understand

(06:32):
this to all listeners, whether it's talk to your hosts
or hostesses, whether it's politicians, Democrats or Republicans, they believe
that you're all sheep, that you're stupid. I've been in
many conversations where I've defended people because I trust people.
I don't trust politicians. I don't trust talk to your hosts.

(06:52):
I just don't because I've known them. And what they'll
do is they'll say, oh, you don't trust, don't trust them.
They won't remember what you said five seconds ago, five
minutes ago, five weeks ago, five days ago, five months ago.
They need sheap burdise like us. And Greg Kelly is
a perfect example. Come on, he never listened to talk

(07:15):
radio going up. You knew that, Oh Garden City, Long Island,
tough guy out there right protected by his daddy. Was
a great guy. Ray Kelly longest serving police commissioner, but
not a talk radio guy. Maybe talk TV, talk radio. No,
he just he runs out of gas and he doesn't
want you to remember what he was saying during the

(07:37):
Democratic primary. And as much as I hate, I loathe,
I despise Andrew evilized Cuomo. Hey, Andrew, I said them,
he too, So you prove your us fat cheam, and
you are what happened to him. He's hanging out there
in the Hamptons, slid back under the rock, you know,
dystopian as he is hanging out with his billionaire millionaire friends.

(08:00):
And this guy Greg Kelly was actually telling everyone to
vote for Johan Mandami. Hey, by the way, you know
who else was telling him during the Democratic primary that
he chose not to run in Eric Adams Swagerman with
no plan. Yeah, him and his Jewish advisor in city
hall manage and the rest were telling members of the
Orthodox and city community, Hey, a vote for Zoran Mandami

(08:24):
in the Democratic primary is a vote so that Eric
Adams can get back into the race. And it all
knock out Andrew Cormel right, their fake phony, fraudlymph, the Caysies.
And the reason that a lot of people don't want
my voice to be heard is I know where all
their bones are buried, and who buried them? And who

(08:48):
was that Gavon who had called before they would oh no,
you know the snowfall is the same as get out
of here. I'm having flashbacks right now. I went to
a Catholic school for a while. Saint Matthew's Irish actually
Josephite nuns. Irish nuns told me that I had to
repeat that Saint Brendan the Navigator discovering the New World.

(09:11):
That was on Eastern parkla Utica Avenue. And because they
all lived in the convent, you had to get to school.
They don't have that any longer. By the way, the
cardinalist gone dole it ooh foh, thank god did not
like that guy closed all these Catholic schools. And by
the way, how much the Parisian is having to pay

(09:33):
for all these sexual assault charges by priests against kids.
I mean, god, he didn't deal with it. So maybe
the new guy will. This is your place to be
seven to ten wor don't go anywhere, because I'm going
to tell you what I learned up in Albany. How
Republican leaders are now signing with who they call moderate

(09:56):
Democrats to beat socialists. Oh yeah, right across the board,
right across the board. The destruction of the Republican Party,
the Party of Lincoln as we know it,

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
