Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's a mess out there. We'll get to the historic,
powerful moment, President Trump speaking in the Knesset Israel this morning,
powerful speech. We'll get to that Columbus Day. The parade
is canceled. We'll explain in a moment. We'll get to
George Stephanopolos. He shocked a lot of people on the
Sunday Show yesterday, sinking to all time lows. It was
(00:21):
really dirty, awful Stephanopolis at is worst. We'll get to
Diane Keaton. We'll get to the mayoral race. We'll get
to Mom, Donnie Cuomo, Curtis. A lot has happened over
the weekend. We'll get to the mayoral race. The stock
market took a plunge on Friday because there was a
(00:43):
tariff war that suddenly shot up against China percent tariffs,
Dow dropping five hundred points. The MSNBC, CNN, Crown, they
loved it. They was great. They got to talk about
that Dow. Wait, well, the President speaking about it this morning,
reassuring people. Dal right back up to where it was
very gloomy over there at MSNBC. Right now, Hey, the
(01:05):
Columbus Day parade is canceled. This is very, very very unusual.
It has been canceled because of the weather. It's brutal outside,
the rain, the wind, very very high winds expected today.
They were on the phone all afternoon yesterday trying to
decide what to do. The weather forecasters said, as bad
(01:27):
as yesterday was, today could be worse. Kind of it
would just look horrible having a parade in that wind,
in that rain. It would look awful, just everybody getting
blown around all over the place, and it would be dangerous.
Trees fallen, anything could happen. So they made the other
final straw was Governor Hochel declared officially declared a state
(01:50):
of emergency in New York. And then overnight they realized,
you can't if it's a state of emergency, you can't
have a parade in the middle of that state of emergency.
Means you're supposed to stay home beyond. So the parade
is canceled. Latest word from the parade organizers is that
they're not going to reschedule. I guess it's just too
(02:13):
tough to do. So there is no Columbus Day Parade
this year. However, they normally would broadcast it on TV
about one o'clock, two o'clock they're still going to do
the broadcast. What they'll do is do interviews with the
Grand Marshal, the people in the parade. There'll be a
show you can watch on TV today. The Columbus Club
over there on sixty ninth Street, they're the ones that
(02:33):
put on the parade, so they'll do a live show
from the Columbus Club. They'll interview a lot of people.
They had a big gallat dinner Saturday night. I'll get
to that in a few moments because that has a
lot to do with the mayoral race, the behavior of
the candidates there. We'll get to that coming up. So
President Trump in Israel. It was a powerful speech. It
was great. It was a very formal teleprompter speech about
(02:56):
bringing peace to the world. But it's Donald Trump, so
minutes he would go off the teleprompter and throw in
a lot of stuff, some great moments. At one point
even looked at the Israeli president said you gotta pardon Babie.
Give him a pardon. The guy deserves it. Best wartime
leader ever. Remember net Yahoo was indicted a few years
(03:17):
ago minor little stuff. They claimed he took a gift.
They claim he gave something to a reporter in exchange
for a favorable coverage. It's not big stuff, but the
President actually sang it to him in front of the world.
Give the guy a pardon. After all he's done. The
hostages have been freed, the twenty living hostages. It's believed
there's twenty seven or twenty eight dead hostages. The body
(03:39):
should be released in the next day or two. The
twenty hostages were released. This is a great moment, it's
a great deal. The only criticisms some people have Israel
sure gave up a lot of prisoners in exchange for
this something that I don't know, like a thousand prisoners.
The ratio of hostages to prisoners didn't seem right to
a lot of people. Some of those prisoners released, about
(04:02):
one hundred of them are the worst terrorists, I mean,
really bad Hamas terrorist types. Now, the argument is that
there's about twenty five thousand Hamas terrorists out there, so
if it's twenty five thousand, one hundred, it won't change
the dynamic too much. But it's a great moment, a
great deal, historic President Trump. The broadcast the speech live
(04:24):
on all the networks this morning. Then when it was over,
you could see the smiles in everybody's faces, knowing peace
is here. It's a new era. It's the beginning of
a whole new era in the Mid East. Everything is bad.
Everybody was happy unless you put on MSNBC. Then when
the speech was over, they went to those guys they have,
you know, that whole panel with the glasses and the
bow ties, and they gave you that. Well, they tried to.
(04:48):
It was tough to make it sound negative the whole thing,
but they tried. They tried. Well, you never know, I mean,
this is we're partnering with the Saudi in these Middle
Eastern can't be counted on as a partners. So they
tried to spin it negative. It wasn't easy to do.
They really struggled. The hostages are back, but they're going
(05:09):
to be in medical care for quite some time. They
were kept in dark tunnels for two years, and doctors say,
besides all the physical medical problems they could be facing,
they're gonna need a lot of treatment. The mental health
problems could be huge. So they'll be treating those hostages
for a long long time. And then they keep getting
(05:34):
these there's power outages all over the place. I keep
getting these power company calls and we're restoring your powers.
So I think in Connecticut you got like ten thousand
outages this morning. Trees down, lines down all over the place.
So hey, you also talk about Diane Keaton, lots to
(05:59):
talk about or their amazing career. And then we'll get
to Eric Adams having a fight with a reporter getting
a little angry. Im speaking of angry. The Columbus Day
Parade was to be today. It's been canceled because of
the weather. But what they do is on the Saturday
night before they have a huge galla dinner. The committee
(06:24):
the club that puts on the parade, and it's a
great thing. Maria Bartiromo's the MC, a lot of famous faces.
It was normally at the Wall Door for somewhere, this
time at Chipriani Wall Street, which I like that Chipriani
forty second Street, but that Wall Street one is quite
inconvenient getting to. And you get down there to Wall Street,
(06:46):
it's like a maze of little streets and half of
them are closed off. It's a mess down there. So anyway,
but it was quite a night. Curtis showed up in
fact check my Instagram. You'll see a picture of me
and Curtis at the dinner. But Curtish showed up for
the cocktail hour and was mobbed, mobbed everybody wanted a
(07:06):
picture with Curtis, people who are all just surrounding him,
mobbing them everybody. The energy you could see in the
room for Curtis was amazing, just mobbed the whole night
by the crowd. And then Andrew Cuomo showed up for
the cocktail party and the dinner and it was just
the opposite. Most people just kind of looking at him,
(07:26):
and he looked like he was not in a good mood,
not in a good mood. He was kind of glaring
at me the whole time. I just stayed away. And
then but there were other people in the media who
he went over and confronted. It was it got kind
of ugly, fact people intervening saying, hey, not the place.
So I don't know what the hell he's so angry about.
(07:47):
But it didn't look good. So far, it hasn't gotten
a lot of coverage his behavior there, but it might.
It might start to him. He was quite unpleasant to
some people there. We'll wait and see what comes out
about that. But hey, and George Stephanopolis yesterday gets Vice
(08:08):
President Vance as the guest. Now that's kind of a
big deal for a Sunday show to have the Vice
President of the United States as your guest. You usually
treat him with the great dignity. But Stephanoppolis, of course
say left wing, totally corrupt anchor totally partisan, totally slanted,
is just badgering and banging away Advance, trying to give
(08:31):
him a hard time. And then apparently they decided the
thing they would get him on is Tom Holman taking
a fifty thousand dollars bribe. Now there's no evidence anywhere
of Tom Holman taking a fifty thousand dollars bribe. There
is an FBI they had some undercover guy recording a
conversation of home and accepting fifty thousand. But what it
(08:52):
was was, this is not while he's in government. He
was running a private business in the private sector and
somebody hired him for fifty thousand dollars. It's not a bribe.
This is what everybody in government does when they leave.
This is what all these guys do. You know, the
former Senate majority leader, the Speaker of the House, all
(09:12):
the top government people, cabinet. But this is what many
of them, about eighty percent of them. When they leave,
they set up a business and you can hire them.
And the reason you hire them is they got a
lot of cloud in DC. They can pick up the
phone and help you get a contract. They can help
you get a law changed, they can make phone calls.
They're like lobbyists, but they got a tremendous amount of influence.
(09:35):
Happens everywhere, happens here in New York City. If you
were a big deputy mayor or some big thing in
the New York City government, when you leave, many of
these guys form a company and you hire them as
your lobbyist. They can go down the city Hall and
get you your permits, or they can get whatever you need.
So it's perfectly normal. That's what Homan did in the
years he was out of government, and it's what eighty
(09:55):
percent of the people do when they're out of Government's
what James Comey did. They go back into the private
se Now sometimes you'll see whoa you know, he went
to work for a law firm. That's the reason the
law firm hired him or his government influence. If you're
in the US Attorney's office and you leave the law
firm will hire you, not because you're the greatest attorney,
but because you know everybody in the US Attorney's office.
(10:17):
You can help get a deal for the client. But
it's a silly little story. But Stephanoppolis brings it up
with the Vice president, the vice president explaining all this
to them, and Stephanopplis won't give up, and he's just
banging away at the Vice President of the United States.
And then this is where people thought it was the
lowest moment ever in the history of Sunday morning television.
(10:38):
He said, well, I have reporting here from Pro Publica.
Now you might be saying, what the hell is Pro Publica.
It's this far left wing blog. They call themselves journalist.
It's a news organization. It's a far left wing blog.
It's the last I mean, the fact that ABC News
is quoting this far left wing blog as some sort
(11:00):
of news organization is preposterous. It's backed by a couple
of left wing billionaires who pumped tons of money into it.
But the last time you ever heard it discussed was
by Keith Oberman, Remember that crazy Keith Oberman MSNBC. That's
the kind of guy was always quoting Pro public. So
it looks so low. And at one point the Vice
(11:21):
president said, you know, George, I'm the vice president the
United States. Here I am on television. You should be
asking me about the shutdown. You should be discussing important issues,
not going down some far left rabbit hole, which he said,
that's the reason your ratings are slipping, that's the reason
less and less people watch you all the time. Well,
Stephan Uplis got mad. Just cut him off, just cut
(11:43):
him off, and said I didn't I didn't a quire him,
and we have to go. And then as Vance started
to say something, Stephanoplis said, we'll be right back. Just
cut off the vice president. It was the lowest moment.
Can you imagine if Tim Russett were alive. I saw this.
David Brinkley created that Sunday morning shown. Imagine if he
(12:04):
came back to life and saw that, it would have
been just awful for him. So, hey, Diane Keaton, didn't
expect her to go. She was only seventy nine, I mean,
seemed okay, but apparently her health declined a lot in
the last few months. Diane Keaton, of course, the godfather.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Michael, why did you come here? Why? What do you
want of me?
Speaker 1 (12:29):
After all this time you're allowed, You're going to be
calling writing I came here because I made you, because
I kept for you. Please stop at Michaels, I want
your en merriment now. In real life, the opposite happened
this Godfather's what was it seventy one, seventy two, the
(12:50):
sequel Godfather Too, I think was seventy four. And then
after that, Al Pacino starts dating Diane Keaton and they
get very very very serious. And this goes on for
many years, and I guess she wanted to get married.
She finally just absolutely insisted they get married. This is
after many, many, many many years of dating. Pacino did
not want to get married, did not want to commit
(13:12):
to that, and so she broke up with him. That
was the end of it. Pacino later said years later
that was the biggest mistake of his life, biggest regret
is that he didn't marry her. He should have done it,
he didn't do it. So now the other one was
Woody Allen. Of course, Diane Keaton and Woody Allen. They
first worked together on Broadway and there was nineteen sixty nine.
(13:34):
Woody Allen had a big Broadway show called Play It
Against Sam based on the movie Castle Blank, and he
auditioned a woman named Diane Keaton and thought she was phenomenal.
He said, he fell in love with her immediately. Couldn't
believe how fast he fell in love with her. So
she starred in the show with him. They later did
Annie Hall. She got the Oscar for that.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
You played very well, Oh yeah, so do you. Oh god,
what a dumb thing to say, right I mean, you say,
even right.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Away, I have to say, you play well?
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Oh oh god, Annie Well?
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Oh well, Lotti da Lotti Da La. Well, you had
to be there at the time. Boy, that was quite
a movie. What a big film. That was her fashion
in that film, trend setting it was. She won the
Oscar for it. And of course she and Woody Allen
dated for a while. I mean, anybody can go from
al Pacino to Woody Allen. You got to give him credit.
(14:28):
And oh hey, take a look at my Instagram. The
last time I saw them together, they were having dinner together.
I don't know, it was like a year or two
years ago. Whenever it was, I have I put I
took a picture of them having dinner together with the
wife Sunyi. But it's up on my Instagram. Take a
look at it. Mark Simone NYC at Instagram. Woody Allen
wrote a quite a piece about her. That's out. You
(14:52):
can read that today. So he Mark Sanchez now says
drug substance alcohol? Is that what he's saying. He says
he's in recovery.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
And now I'm just my recovery and I just wanted
to thank the first responders Esconazi Hospital. That's why you're going.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
The first responders' thinking the police that stopped him from
killing the guy. I mean, the guy was beaten to
a pulp by Mark Sanchez. In fact, if you see
the pictures of this guy in the hospital, it was brutal. Sanchez,
I guess trying to recover his career. I don't think
it's gonna happen. I don't bet so. Anyway, we got
a lot to get to Michael Goodwin in a few moments.
The parade has been canceled. No Columbus Day parade. The
(15:43):
rain will continue. It looks like it'll ease up by
tomorrow morning. And hey, we'll take some calls. Next eight
hundred three to two one zero seven ten is the
number eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten,
