Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is a podcast from wor now the wr Saturday
Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Here's Larry Minty.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Hello, and welcome to Saturday Morning. On this week's show,
former New York Governor and current candidate for mayor of
New York City Andrew Cuomo says he's not just running
as a Democrat, He's going to run as an independent
as well. We'll ask Democratic consultant Hank Shinkoff about the
strategy behind that. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy goes to

(00:32):
Saudi Arabia, and North Jersey dot Com columnist Mike Kelly
has a real problem with that. If you're happy in
your job, should you be looking for a new job.
We'll ask career advice expert Greg gan Grande. And we
all know the product Balance of Nature. Well, now they

(00:53):
have a new product for your dog. We'll ask the
founder of Balance of Nature, doctor Douga Howard, about that
coming up. But first let's talk with Hank Shinkoff about
Andrew Cuomo running for mayor as an independent. Hank, thanks
for being here this morning. I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
I'm grateful to be with you. Hope Ball's well.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
So what is Andrew Cuomo doing?

Speaker 4 (01:16):
I'm a smart move. Getting an independent line is a
way of hedging against people whom Mike who don't want
to vote for him as a Democrat. Should he win
that primary of June twenty fourth, and then we'll talk
about the fall. Now he's going to have Curse Lee
on the Republican line, Eric Adams running on two lines.
I think Brad Lander won't be there likely, but Mondami

(01:37):
will be. So it's a way for him to find
a place where people who don't like Republicans or Democrats
or we don't like Democrats certainly would feel comfortable voting
for him.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Does this change the race in any way in your mind?

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Nah, not really. I mean Andrew Clomo looks to win.
The looks like he's going to win the Democrat primary,
and the fall maybe who knows. It depends how much
money at az Or doesn't have, and depends on what
the city feels at the particular time. I mean all politics.
When people try to predict that, they often forget that
two minutes in politics is twenty five years and anything else,

(02:11):
so anything can happen here.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Well, it's interesting to hear you say that now, because
the last couple of times we've had you on you
had a stronger feeling that you thought this was Mayor Adams,
even though he was lower in the polls.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Does that change?

Speaker 4 (02:24):
I think it's about money today. There's historian the Daily
News that notes that big story, you know, that says
that Adams was denied four million dollars by the campaign
financeport which I find most fascinating. He wasn't convicted of
a crime, but they've decided that something untoward went on,
which is none of their business, frankly, and I think

(02:45):
it's not fair to him at all. And who are
they to make that decision. They're not at court there,
it's just supposed to be watching what happens in funding
of campaigns, not anything else. So not there. He won't
have four million dollars. He's gonna have to raise the
money if he has an independent committee for example, that
an independixpnister operation. They can do. I would guess five
to six million dollars. He's in the game. He can

(03:08):
he can do very interesting things. But you know, money
makes the world go around, and it makes politics go
around it he doesn't have any cash. There's a real problem.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah, that that makes a whole lot of sense. You
did have a strong theory though, and now we're going
to have well one duplicate, but you're going to have
four strong personalities and people that can pull some votes
running against each other for mayor after the primary season
is over. And your theory in the past has always

(03:37):
been the black voters will come home to rest and
they'll go for mayor Adams. You don't think that's enough
now if he doesn't have the.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Money, and money is going to be the defining argument.
I mean, look, Zohan Mandami will have whatever he needs
to come in from all over the country, from sources
we haven't thought about. I mean, this is a do
or die moment for the anti Israel and the left wing,
left wing Democratic Social America gang around the country. The
effect that we've taken over Philadelphia the second Party, that

(04:07):
they've removed the Republicans from real power in the city
of Philadelphia as an example of what the DSA slash
Working Families Party people have done. So this is ground zero.
He'll have whatever he needs from whatever sources they can
come in from. So I'm not worried about that for
him and Slee what well, he'll have a share and
I don't think you know in a mashup, you can

(04:27):
even count him out. We don't know what's going to
happen before well, we do know that Eric Adams needs
to get money, and if he doesn't have money, it's
going to be very difficult for him to compete.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
You know, it's amazing.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
I'm glad you brought that out about Mom Donnie, because
it's amazing what type of infrastructure he has. We talked
to a citizen reporter who does who goes out and
does interviews. He does a great job. And he was
out and saw Mom Donnie at one of the Tesla
protests and he went over to talk to him, and

(04:58):
he said, you would not believe the number of people
and they all had different color vest on that surrounded him.
He had pressed people talking to him, talking to Mom
Donnie in his ear. You had some really big guy
come up who was security. It does seem like it's
more than just the money. He has this infrastructure of
people that are around him that are supporting him all

(05:20):
the time.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
This is a real campaign to take over a real
city and to turn it into what the left and
the extreme left believe that city ought to be. They've
had some success with Cerro's funded money and district attorney's
races around the country, which the public is generally rejected

(05:41):
on the second time around, or even recalled the people.
This is the most serious threat to New York City's
functioning since we don't know when. This is an organized
national effort of people with two agendas break up the
cops and destroy the state of Israel. And anybody who
thinks otherwise is deluding themselves. This is a guy with
no experience. He's been around politics for let's see, he
ran a campaign on lost. He's been in the state

(06:03):
center for what three terms? Excuse me, the state of
somebody for three terms has passed no significant legislation. They
would have turn in Night of Our Lives. How dangerous
he is is some of that people need to understand
and unless they reject him in even if they do,
he'll be back, and the DSA will be back, and
they'll raise money all over the country the people around them,
and this has been a well fought through effort, and parenthetically,

(06:27):
I'm the idiot that said six or seven months ago
in the papers that Mondamie would be the one to
watch and that people really should pay much more close attention.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Well, no, you were right.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
They should pay close attention to him, because it is
frightening for all the reasons you said. Let's talk about
the governor's race for one second. Does at least Stefan
it clear the field in the Republican sign.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
I think that she does not, and I think that
the Republicans will probably try to get her to stay
in her seat, and they'll probably might bet they're smart
to have Bruce blake because Blakeman does not bring the
taint of the Trump years in the same way that
Stefanic does. Blakeman wins NASA and Stuffolk County walking away,

(07:10):
and he can probably get his thirty percent of New
York City to make him a very competitive LEAs Stephanic
can't do that in New York City. And without that
those numbers in New York City, it is hard to
think how a Republican can be be elected governor. I
think Blakeman is a real shot if he runs. Why
because Kathy Hockel's numbers are terrible and polling, but she
is not one to be counted out either. She's tough

(07:32):
as nails, very smart, will raise extraordinary amounts of money,
and she's one tough cookie.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Always fascinating. I love talking to you, Hank. Sean Kav
longtime democratic consultant and political consultant.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Hank, thanks so much for your time this morning.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Thank you having me on. I'm grateful.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
All the best Coming up next, when is it time
to start looking for a new job? We'll ask career
advice expert Greg g and Grande.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Next, here again is Larry Manty with the wr Saturday
Morning Job Welcome back.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
So you're happy in your job, but is there something
better out there for you? Is it wrong to apply
for something else while you're already working? It's a good
question to ask career advice expert Greg GM Grande. Greg,
good morning, how do you answer that question?

Speaker 5 (08:25):
Good morning, Larry. Wait, what are you saying that people
actually like go on job interviews when they're already employed
and happy. That's such a shock to me.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
I've done it my entire career, by the way, I've
always been looking for the next job.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
Well, so it might sound counterintuitive like you're happy, why
would you be looking for another job? And I think
there's a distinction. You may not be actively looking for
another job, but the best time to keep your head

(09:05):
up and aware of what is out there is when
you're happy, because when you're miserable, you tend to look
at opportunities through rose colored glasses because anything is better
than what you have. And sometimes it's true and it
works out, but sometimes you settle because you just want

(09:26):
to get out of where you are. But if you're
happy and you remain aware of what's available in the
job market, you are much more likely to be open
to and move to something that is really significantly better
because you're happy, so we'd have to be better in

(09:48):
order for you to make that move. So it's a
great time to remain active in the job market. I
don't mean sending out your resumes all over the place
and having people think that you're not loyal to your
current employer, but you absolutely should remain aware even when
you're not looking.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
But I've had situations where a boss will get a
phone call saying, did you know your employee is looking
for another job? And then they have to come to
you and say, are you looking for another job? You're
not happy here? What do you do in that situation?

Speaker 5 (10:27):
So, if you're a talented employee, the companies are trying
to poach other companies' talented employees all the time, and
it would any boss has to be aware that most
employees occasionally take calls, even if they don't proactively make

(10:49):
a call or search. They will take a call if
somebody is interested, and they'll have a conversation and it
can be positioned that way, say I am happy, here,
I am looking, I got this call. I get calls
all the time, like I'm sure you do too, boss
and everyone else, and occasionally I will I will take

(11:10):
a call because it's a smart career move to do that.
There is no you don't have to hide that fact.
I mean, you know, I've always been open with my boss.
Oh I got another call today, or I got you know,
I keep getting these calls, and I keep telling people
I'm happy. I'm not going anywhere. I think being honest
about what we all do anyway is there's no harm

(11:34):
to your career, and you know it could keep your
boss on their toes. It's like, yeah, I got a
I've got a really talented employee. I better make sure
that I do everything I can to take care of
them because other companies are trying to steal my talent.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, I can go one of two ways can it.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
It can happen that they go, well, they can give
you a raise, or they can give you, you know,
the first to bump up in salary, or they can
promote you to try to keep you there so you
don't go to another company. Or they can say and
you'll find out how they feel about you. All right, Well,
good luck.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
Well it's good to know. If that's how your boss
feels about you. Well, you keep taking those calls and
let me know if you decide to take another job
and when you're last day, that's something you should know exactly.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Hey, let me amend something I said a moment ago
that I've been doing that in my entire career. I'm
very happy here. I'm not looking for anything else here.
I would never do that, So I've reached the pinnacle.
I'm not I'm not looking for anything else.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
That's good to know.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
What you meant was that all these other competing stations
are calling you constantly, but you're happy where you are
and you're not interested.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
When is a good time? I guess you answered the question.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
People try to time the the job market like they
try to time the stock market, and that's a fool's
errand you shouldn't try to time it because you can't.
You're only looking for that one right opportunity. And even
in a down market, when all the news and headlines say, oh,
companies are laying off and job growth is slowing, that

(13:24):
doesn't mean that companies aren't hiring. So I would look
for a job whenever a you need to look for
a job, or as I said earlier, always be active
in the job market. Always be aware who's hiring, what
kind of roles, who's making moves. Stay engaged with your trade,
whatever profession you're in, the trade associations that often promote

(13:50):
and highlight talent movement within that sector. Just stay active
all the time because you never know when that right
opportunity is going to become available. And if you're not
looking up and and aware, you might miss it.

Speaker 6 (14:04):
Greg, are there signs that you should be looking for
a new job?

Speaker 2 (14:13):
What did you look at me when you said that?

Speaker 7 (14:16):
Seriously?

Speaker 6 (14:17):
I mean you miss a lot of people like I
didn't see it coming. What are those warning signs that
you should be looking out for.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Well, one is when your boss says, yeah, well, good
luck with that when he finds out you are interviewing
that as Larry said before, But if your boss isn't
paying as much attention to you, if you're not getting
like great assignments, if the feedback you're getting is more
critical than positive, if you're not getting raises, or you're

(14:46):
getting lower than the company average when they when they
do merit increases bonuses, if you're in a bonus plan,
if it tends to be smaller than what you're were
expecting your target, those are all signals. But if you're
in the dark about if you feel in the dark
about where you stand at your employer, then it's your

(15:09):
responsibility to own your career and not let yourself get surprised.
So be direct with your boss. How am I doing here?
What are my prospects? Here's what I'm interested in from
my career and how to continue growing and developing it.
How do you see me? What can we do? Then
you'll know Career.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Advice expert Greg Gimgrande. You can ask him any career
questions at go to Greg dot com. Still to come.
Balance of Nature for dogs, Yep, the Balance of Nature.
People have a new product and we'll tell you about it.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy goes to Saudi Arabia. What
was he thinking when Saturday Morning continues.

Speaker 6 (15:52):
Back now to the wo R Saturday Morning Show within
Larry MINTI welcome.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Back New Jersey governor film if he travels to Saudi
Arabia and North Jersey dot Com award winning columnist Mike
Kelly has a real problem with that. Mike, I'm fascinated
by your column about Saudi Arabia. Before we get to that,
let me just ask you real quick about this Rutgers
poll that was out earlier in the week shows Jack
Chitderelli way way ahead for the Republicans and they he

(16:22):
might not be beatable at this point, but the Democrats are.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
All bunched up. It seems like it's anybody's game.

Speaker 8 (16:29):
Yeah, good morning, Larry. Yes, always good to talk to
you about all things New Jersey. Uh. The you know,
I think this is this is Jack Chitarelli's race to lose,
and I'll tell you why. He connects with voters on
issues that matter to them. The Democrat The Democratic field

(16:49):
on paper looks great. Uh. There's a lot of really
talented folks there, starting with Josh Gottheimer and Mikey Cheryl
two luminaries, Democratic luminaries in Congress and right down the line.
But I don't think they've connected with voters on the
issues that matter. Most of their campaigns are geared toward

(17:12):
fighting Trump. And I understand that they're Democrats and they
want to criticize Trump. I get that, but that is
not I think the top priority for voters in New Jersey.
And I think Chattarelli understands what they are their kitchen
table issues. It's immigration, It's this whole nonsense about sanctuary cities,
and Chattarelli is right on top of that.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
No, we have them on the show a lot. He's
been running for governor now it seems like forever. And
so there is currency in that. There's value in that.
You get your game, you get your game face on
pretty fast. And I'm not sure, and I agree with you,
the Democratic field is in a very talented field, but
I'm not sure any of them have broken through or

(17:56):
seem ready for prime time.

Speaker 8 (17:57):
Do you No? They don't. I mean, I you know
they I don't think they can find their gear. It's
you know, it's I remember when they're first debate, they
talked about sanctuary cities. That's not a top priority right
now for New Jersey voters. New Jersey voters, in fact,

(18:20):
most elections for governor or even other statewide offices, the
top priority is how government is going to affect our
pocket books. And Chattarelli seems to understand that better than others. Listen,
this is not rocket science. You know, the Democrats should
understand that. Gottheimer's tried to, you know, tried to get

(18:43):
to that issue. But I just don't think he's breaking through.
And others have tried as well. You know Steve Fullip,
who's a very talented mayor in New Jersey, Ros Baraka
in Newark. I mean, the mayors of the two largest
cities in New Jersey are running along with two luminaries
from Congress. And then let's not forget Steve Sweeney, former
Senate president, State Senate president. So these are people with experience,

(19:05):
they know how to get things done in government. But
I just as I said, I just don't think they've
found the right lane yet to really get to voters.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
I also think Governor Murphy's last eight years have hurt
them and this current trip is taken and that's not
going to help them at all. He's going to Saudi Arabia,
and I know in your latest column that people can
see at North Jersey dot com, you have a problem
with that.

Speaker 8 (19:30):
Oh big Tom. You know, I'm one of the journalists
around the country, Larry, and they're not many of us
who have tried to keep a focus on the mounting
evidence that Saudi Arabia was involved in the nine to
eleven attacks. Now, Saudi Arabia was not didn't carry out
the attacks, but they provided logistical support and possibly even

(19:53):
financing for the hijackers. We know this. The FBI documents
that have been recently to classified show that possibly as
many as a dozen Saudi officials in the Saudi embassy
in Washington, d c. Knew what was going on with
the nine to eleven attacks. So this is really serious stuff.

(20:14):
It's been an issue that's hung over our country for
a lot of years now and is really upsetting a
lot of folks. I'm guessing a lot of your listeners
are upset about this, but they just can't get government
to listen. And this isn't just you know, one party
or the other. It started with President Bush and it's
run right through all the presidents and now now we've

(20:37):
got Governor Murphy in Saudi Arabia on what he describes
a bilateral He's looking for bilateral cooperation in global sports initiatives. Translation,
the Soccer World Cup is going to be played in
New Jersey and Murphy's trying to get Saudi money to

(20:59):
help finance some of it. This is what happens in
our country. We've allowed the Saudis to buy us off.
And I have written many columns about this. My most
recent was this past Sunday, and it's very frustrating because
it gets no traction with our government, and it seems

(21:19):
to me an easy call. I mean government. The nine
to eleven attacks are a huge, huge piece of our history.
You would think government and voters would want to get
to the bottom of it.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Yeah, you have strong support for the argument you're making.
I know the families of those that were killed on
nine to eleven all believe that Saudi Arabia is behind
that and have been trying to get somebody to pay
attention to them for a long long time. So kudos
to you for being one of those people who is
paying attention. But they just have so much money and

(21:54):
they're willing to work with America and they're in an
area where we need allies.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
It is amazing.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
It's not just Governor Murphy, it's just about every politician
that's willing to look the other way.

Speaker 8 (22:06):
Sure. I mean, look a couple of years ago, when
Saudi Arabia was pouring money into this new golf league
called liv the family showed up at President Trump's golf
course in New Jersey to protest. Many of these families
were Trump supporters, they voted for her, and they couldn't

(22:29):
get through. They finally got through to Biden in some
small way by threatening to disinvite him from the annual
ceremonies at Ground Zero. And so Biden caved and decided
to declassify the FBI investigative reports. And when those reports

(22:49):
started trickling out, Larry, they were shocking what they showed.
I mean, I remember one story I did about a
guy in Patterson who was working with an another Saudi
operative in northern Virginia to help the hijackers find apartments
and open ATM accounts and that sort of thing. In Patterson,

(23:10):
eleven of the nineteen hijackers had apartments or some sort
of lodging arrangements in motels of that sort of thing
here in northern New Jersey. So this, this, this story
is right under our wing in the New York area,
and we just haven't gotten anywhere with it.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
I am so glad that you're out in front of this.
I'm so glad you're talking about it, and let's talk
about it more in the weeks to come. You can
read Mike Kelly's columns at North Jersey dot com. Coming up,
the doctor who invented Balance of Nature has a brand
new product. Doctor Howard is here to talk about it next.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
Now more of the wo R Saturday Morning Show and Larry.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
We all know about balance of nature and how it
can keep you healthy, but there's a new Balance of
Nature now that's just for dogs. We talked to the
creators of Doctor Fido's Fido Nutrition dog food topper, doctor
Douglas Howard and doctor Jake Van Dyke, who's a veterinarian.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Doctor Howard, this is exciting for you.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
I'm sure you get to expand your brand and talk
about how you came up with this idea.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Well, and actually it's a it's a whole new company.
It's really not Balance in Nature, okay, but it's a
doctor fidos has been fun. We It's really not a
new idea. It's something that all along, you know, I
deal with the help and the well being of people.
And I found many years ago that often that's your
pet too, because do you have a pet?

Speaker 3 (24:41):
Yeah, well my dog just died unfortunately, so but yes,
we're planning on getting another one.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
But I always want to have a dog in the house.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
And you make my point, and that was a bad day, yes,
and there's been sadness, But when you would come home
and that dog was wagging his tail, how'd you feel?

Speaker 2 (24:56):
No, wonderful? You look forward to it.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Yeah, it's part of your health, yep. And so when
I realized that people actually their health is also combined
with the health of their animals, I thought we got
to do this. And that's a long, longer story. Sometime
we'll get into how that really addressed with the dog
we had. But and then I you know doctor Jake
and I I've known him since he was a tiny

(25:19):
tad and he became a vet and we we said,
you know, let's do this then, so we adapted the
formula and we formulated this to fit best with animals.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
It sounds like you were left in a basket in
front of his house.

Speaker 7 (25:30):
That's since you were everything that's wrong with me wrong
with me, he influenced exactly right.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
All the good that's all new to hear. Well, good
for you.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
Talk to us about doctor Fidos and what what what
are the working ingredients in it? And why is it
important to give to your pet?

Speaker 7 (25:49):
That's great. So doctor Fidos contains forty whole food ingredients, fruits, vegetables,
some spices that are really good, and a bunch of fiber.
And the relationship that doctor Howard and I have is
really beneficial to both of us because I'm concerned about
that day that my client's bring in a puppy to

(26:09):
the day that we put the dog to sleep, and
everything in the middle needs to be better. And that's
really what motivates me to be part of this project
because I feel the benefit of balance in nature. I
take it myself and I've been given doctor Fidos to
dogs for over two years and the results are amazing.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Talk about the results. What are the results so far?

Speaker 7 (26:31):
So things that I notice in my practice with my
patients is just overall better health and if you can
think of it, they're experiencing it.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Yeah, this is so important to families because I think
we all care about our dogs and our pets, and
we care sometimes more than we care about ourselves.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
We want to keep them healthy. We just don't know
how frequently. And the thing is, we can't guarantee life.
I can't guarantee how long some things live in my patience,
you know, that's that's between you and God. That's how
I put that one. But what I realized in my
practice finally was we can deal with quality of life.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
God gils with.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
God deals with quantity. But if we can make that
quality of life the highest it is, then it makes
everybody happier.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Yeah, I wish I had your voice. Man, if I
had your voice, I'd be network. I'd be more successful
than I ever was. I wish I had. I wish
I had your face. So I've been told I have
a radio face all the time. If you have a face,
everybody recognizes. I think everybody, as doctor Howard just pointed out,
I think everybody wants to have their pet be healthier.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
We just don't know how to do it. That's the
question that I get all the time. What should I
feed my dog?

Speaker 7 (27:47):
And when you go to the grocery store, it's overwhelming
because of all the choices that are there, and unfortunately
they're not great most of them. And uh, there's there's
not a lot information out there. So this product really
does hit the spot. It fills the need for good
nutrition in our pets.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
And sometimes we think we're doing the best thing, but
some of the stuff on the market that's sold for
being healthy is.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
Just not healthy. No, it's not.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
And the beauty of it is people afford what they
feed them what they can afford frequently. But it doesn't
matter what you're feeding you're at your pet. Doctor Fido's
Dog Topper food Topper improves the nutrition always. It improves
the quality of whatever you're feeding them.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Right.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
The product's name again is doctor Fido's Food Topper, and
here's a phone number you can call eight eight eight
three eight eight seven two nine seven. And it's very
clever because Fido is pH y t os, which is
part of the active ingredients, but it also is Fido,
So I get it very good, very good by the
marketing team. You can also go to doctor Fidos d

(28:59):

phone number.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
By the way, the last four last four digits there
spelled pause p.
