Award winner and double a CP Image Award winner. I mean,

all those has that changed you? Do you have a

feel like you could relate to this. I think because
we both capricorns. You know. It's like all the things
that I the awards are like crazy, but like it's
the inner competitive with myself where I'm like, I still
got a way to go. Maybe one day, Like you
know what I'm saying, I feel like there's always something
else I'm trying to hit and trying to achieve.

Awards and things like that. Never they never. I mean,
it's not like it's nice. It's not like how other
people respond to it.

That's real, you know what you people other people get excited.
My biggest, like, my biggest thing when I was nominated
for my first Grammy was if I don't win, I
don't want all these people to give me this sympathy energy.
I don't want that. I'm more concerned about how people
are going to respond to me if I don't win.
So I think it's very interesting. The way I look

at it, It's like, okay, so that means it's real.
You're doing something tangibly real and good, you know, which
helps me because in my head, I'm like, girl, keep going, girl,
what you know what I'm saying, I'm so competitive?

came in with a splash and you made an impact
and now you're gonna an album, which is so crazy.
But I was like, this is not right. It says
it's her debut album. It's not. And then I'm like,
holy shit, that was a EP. This is actually your
debut album, so you're out here new artists mode.

Man, I'm like, ooh the way that this music stepp
works because if it was me, I would just go
right on them algorithms and rechange that name to that
was the album thank You and this my second album,
because it feels like that was like an era of
me where I was like testing the water so much
and like, are people gonna get it? Are they gonna
understand me? And like that's what it felt like at

the time. That felt like how our debut album would feel.
But this is different because I guess it's more like

you drop that and you had the show going on
at the same time, and I just felt like you

So now it feels like you have another fresh kind
of sorry with this project, which what is this? How

This is weird. I love that for you. So for me,
I feel like my EP was like a first date, like, hey,
you keep it really cute, like, oh my gosh, yes,
I'm like, so I never have a temper. I'm never mad.
I'm like I'm really chill and like very paird. But
then you know, as you start to date somebody more,
you're like you turn up a little bit and you're

like they're like what was that? And you're like, oh,
and another thing, and right right, you just get a
little bit more and more comfortable showing all the sides
because you're not afraid of somebody like ghosting you or something.
You know. So, I think that my debut album is
kind of like when you get into that mindset, like
I'm not afraid that things will go completely left and
I'll mess something up. I feel like I'm gonna learn.

I'm gonna learn and grow, so I took more risk creatively.
I think, like sonically like what like Taste, definitely like Taste,
and other songs on my album like there. I have
a song with yg Marley called why Not More the
title track, and it's like it's like Island vibes, but
I'm singing R and B on it.

I mean, I wanted to feel free to do stuff
like that because I want I'm more comfortable now. And no,
I do not have it all the way together in
my plan and my like understanding of myself. But I
feel like in a relationship you grow. In this relationship
with me and my fans and with me and music,
we grow. And I'm just trying to like express all
the things that I feel like are important to show

for a media training company. They show you how to

questions that are personal, you know, like you know how

So you child actors especially, they get trade very young
real to how to navigate your personal and all that
time stuff.

To how to draw that line and keep it focused
on even if they start not talking about the job
you're there to talk about you know, how to bring
it back to center. So that's something that I've been
doing since it was twelve. Then you get into real
life music where you're a real life adult and people
real life want to know about you and what you
got going on. And now they're social media and it's

not frowned upon to tell your tea'll.

Be going there sometimes too much of it there.

No, t I don't even have an example, so please
don't correlate me with nobody nobody. But so now it's
like who am I in the middle of all these things,
in the middle of what I've been taught, in the
middle of what's going on in the world, what do
I want to say. So it's scary in that sense
of like I don't want to overshare. I don't want
to undershare either, because I am authentic and I really
do want to get my fans like my truest version

of me. But then what is for me? What do
I keep for myself? So scary in that sense, but
not scary in the sense of, like my relationship, I'm happy,
I'm very very happy. I am. I am, and I
talk about a lot in my music and I talk
about as much as I feel like it's my truth
to talk about in my interviews. But I'm not about
giving you all play to play. This ain't ovloged.

always just wanted to be.

to do my own lamb because first of all, there
was no budget for that when I was an independent artist. Yes,
so I would be so into watching tutorials that it
just became something I like to do. It's like reading
the news. I'm like, we're doing another style of to day.
That was okay. I like that. Man. Now I have

people who do my hair makeup, but I still like
to watch it because I used to watch them all
the time to study it to get better.

they really relate to, and that's really what I'm more
curious to. I'm going on tour May seventh and love that.

really excited to just see people in real time feedback
because music music now, there's no formula, you know, like

there is no like this the right way. It's like
you just got to do it the realest way to
you and see where it lands. So I don't really think.
I'm just curious for everybody to be honest and tell
me what they liked and really don't. And I guess
if anything, you know, keep in mind that I still
have a long ways to go as an artist. Like
I know, people are familiar with we were raised together,

really like I think about things that are right in
front of me, So I don't know how that'll feel

But yeah, I'm excited to see what we do. Though,
I'm excited to you know, ended knowing that it's ending
so in a in an intentional way. And I've talked
a little bit with with the writers about Hillary's storyline
and I'm going to be filming it while on tour.
So that's gonna be interesting too. But I'm excited for it.

back in for shoot dates dot com. My god, where
do you think that show? Like the legacy of that show?
What do you how do you think? I mean, what
are you most proud of of it?

Or? I think the representation like a story that looks
like black excellence, you know, a story that isn't rooted
in a negative depiction of Black people. It's really positive.
It's you know, people who love each other, who want
to grow as humans, as individuals in marriage and in

family and in their own storylines. I think it's a
really really refreshing take on a black family.

Yeah, it's not stereotypical at all.

It's really dope and very honest. We talk about a
lot of the stuff that's going on, like going on,
and so I'm really grateful to the Fresh Prince of
Belair for giving us a layup, honestly of something so
real and authentic and that representation that makes you feel
warm to watch and to look at. We have such
a great foundation to do something something great.
