your What season is this for you?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I had I had a T shirt on, but I
was eating wings in the car, so I just left
it off because I was like, man, I just I
just put this on later.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
This is gonna go that could go bad.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Yeah, but yeah, it's chill. You know, it's New York.
That's not too cold.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
The jewelry is firefirefire, Appreciate it, you know. That's what
I do, just living life, trying to be fresh out here.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
The stone, walking the streets in New York.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
It's amazing.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
You still get stoned, Yeah, I do.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
How is that doesn't because don't you let at a
certain point it's.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
You still get stone. You just handle it differently.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
I have a high tolerance, like right now your stone. Yeah,
but every day or no. Yeah, and it's never too
much because that has been a problem for me. No, yeah,
never a state of paranoia. Nothing like that happens.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
No, No, nothing too crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
So a stay of stone for you is what just
like chill, relaxed, goodbye.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Like you get high and then you laugh and then
you come down a little bit and then you realize
you need to get high again, and then you do that.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Do you get cranky if you're not high?
Speaker 3 (01:25):
No, I don't, Okay, no I have you know.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Because when I used to smoke a lot, when I didn't, yeah,
I was a little cranky.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
I think you know, you might have just been cranky.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
I might have been.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
The world to me was helping. It wasn't. It wasn't.
It was like you said, I was the problem. A
little bit of a little cranky. That's all we got.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
You though, you don't seem like you have a cranky
sign to you.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
I do really well when i'm doing like when I'm
when I'm doing like creative stuff or like business, I
can be stern.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
I don't get cranky, but I'm very stern, and then
I'm very upfront and about the things that I want.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, you don't want people to you don't want people
to fuck up your high.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I just you know, it's like we got a job,
we got a mission. I'm not that high to where
like everything is cool, like you know what I'm saying.
Sometimes you gotta buckle down. You gotta handle business. You
gotta get people on the same page. So when it's
time to people manage, you're not dealing with the you know,
easygoing stoner. It's not cranky, but it's definitely upfront though. Yeah,
I got a lot of people on my payroll, so
(02:27):
I can't just be you know, letting stuff slide all
the time.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
That probably takes people by surprise when they catch it
for the first time.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
For show for show, definitely, but I do it with love.
Though I would never degrade anybody or anything like that.
But I'm a human being and I deal with a lot,
so you know, sometimes it might not be the time
or you know, the day for that, so you might,
you know, but I'm really you know, you're a nice guy.
I'm a really, really nice guy. I would never say cranky.
I will always say like, stern is the biggest seal
(02:56):
get from me, firm.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
That means you're serious in your stern bag. That's as
hard as.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
It gets get. Then we get right out of that
bag and then you're happy again. Exactly. Smoke a joining
is all good.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
What about with the kids By the way congratuate a.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Months.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Oh she's still eight months? Okay, you never know. Sometimes
it feels like yesterday.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah it should be fifteen. Nah.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
But she's good. She's amazing. I love having a new
a new baby, and it's a girl. So it's like,
you know, a new chapter to my life. And it's
like she brought my whole family together. Everybody's kicking it
at the crib and stuff like that. So it's a
good vibe.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
What's girl? What's the girl? Dad vibes? Like, how different
is that for you?
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Nothing yet, I'll let y'all know. I don't know. Yeah,
I'll keep y' all updated.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Do you think you're going to be the kind of
dad that's like when she's ready to like date, or
she's having like or she want to put on a
little tight little thing, you know what I mean? Do
you think how you're going to be.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
The cool I would be super cool because she's she's
a pretty girl. She's going to be pretty growing up.
So I want her to feel beautiful and know how
beautiful she is and know what to do with it
on her own without me being like all over the
top of her.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
So even when it comes to dealing with guys. I'm
just good.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
I'm gonna be a great example and I'm gonna teach
her you know what a g looks like, so she'll
have great expectations.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
What does that mean for you?
Speaker 2 (04:13):
For me, somebody silid, somebody with a good family, somebody
who respects him himself first and would never disrespect people
around them with their actions. Yeah, you don't got to
be perfect, but you gotta know what was right, you know,
right from wrong?
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Yeah, for sure. Yeah, Yeah, you seem to have gotten
the People love to see the blended family on the ground.
That gets people going. Yeah, you seem to have figured
that out. Is it complicated? What is the trick to that.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
It's not complicated at all. We just communicate all the time.
We talk.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Even if there is some uncomfortable situations, we're able to
map it out. And I'm super understanding. Like look like
you know, you're not tripping like blah blah blah whatever whatever.
Or if me and Amber have a situation where we
have to you know, come together for bash, it's more
of us, you know, kind of being really respectful to
the other person or the other household or whatever the
(05:07):
situation may be. To get this accomplished instead of trying
to be like, you need to listen to me. I'm right,
you're wrong, this, that and the other thing. We work
together on all of that and we help each other
out a lot, so it goes hand in hand.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
People miss that opportunity to do that. I don't know.
I don't know if it's.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Emotions or its emotions, and it's a choice, it's ego,
and you got to do a lot of like self
work and unraveling, and there's a lot of people management
that goes on with that too. But I feel like
in the end, if what you really want is like
what's best, then you'll do whatever you got to do
to keep it like that. And like I always say,
(05:44):
we don't play mind games with each other. We're not
I'm not like texting her and like creeping over to
the crib and.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
There's boundaries and we and we work perfectly fine within
those boundaries.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
We still tell each other we love each other and
all of that. That's my son's mom, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
So it's like that probably means a lot to him to.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
See that, absolutely, to see his.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Dad tell his mom he you know, and not see
war in the house or anything like that.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
He wouldn't like that.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
How's he He must be amazing.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, he's doing good. He's getting How old is he now? Twelve?
Oh my god? Yeah he's a big boy. Is he
showing big.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Is he showing signs of like artistry? Creative?
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Like?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
What's he?
Speaker 3 (06:21):
He's really just being a kid.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yeah, he does have like all of those potentials, but
right now he's kind of just finding himself and what
he's into and what he likes and when he doesn't
like he's into.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Girls, he's into his friends, and you.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Know, he's athletic, he could play sports and stuff like that,
but he hasn't found his passion yet, which is normal
for a twelve year old.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Of course, yes, it's normal for some twenty year old.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Exactly when he finally do, I'll be ready for it.
But right now he just being a kid.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Oh, you must be a good dad.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
I'm a chill dad, super super good dad.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
But are you like, do you ever are you a
stern d as their rules or you just chill?
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Yeah, there's rule like if Amber has a problem with Bash,
does she call you You're the one? And then you
come in and do what.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I talked to him, and I explained it to him well,
and the first thing she says is like, you don't
act like this over your dad's house.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
And he's like, no, I don't.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
So I mean, I think, but there's always a difference
between the relationship with the mom.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
And the father.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Like he does some stuff over there that he doesn't
do at my house either. But I just have to
understand like what my role to him is, and a
lot of it is just like teaching him and guiding
him and showing him a lot of it rather than
just like telling him. And the majority of the things
that you know, I ask him to do, he sees
me doing the regular so it's not hard for him
(07:39):
to understand, like that's what you're supposed to do to
get to where you.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Want to be at Lucky Lucky kids. Yeah, yeah, yeah, figuring.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
It out altogether. I never had no twelve year old
before I figured it out.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
In real time. Right, you kids need to know, right?
But what about so where you at? Creatively? We got
new mixtape dropping on Friday.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
It's an album.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
What is the difference? I never know. I never know
the difference between an album and a mixtape.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
The difference is how you work it in the system.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Okay, Oh, because the label you put a difference.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Yeah, all of that type of stuff.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
I can't believe artists still get away with that though.
If you call it a mixtape, the the label is okay,
what you call it an album a mixtape? Don't people creatively?
Is there a difference?
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Yeah, there's definitely a difference. There is.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, I mean what is that for me? It's the
energy that goes into it. Like I can make a
mixtape in two weeks, but if I'm working working on
an album, It'll probably take me like a year. Because
what I just want to get it all the way
right and I want everybody to be excited about it.
I want my fans to understand it. I want it
to last for a long amount of time, and it
(08:48):
takes time to get the vision fully there. But the
mixtape can create the vision. So you can do that,
toss it out there and if people gravitate towards it,
then you're like, okay, this is what people like, I'm
gonna do more of this or this is you know,
this is how I created the wave, and now I
can make the album based off of that, but yeah,
I would, Yeah, I use it to set it up.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
That makes sense, But it's the cushion aren't by the way,
it's it's too wet. But the first one, it was
a mixtape, was album.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
The first one was a mixtape the first That's.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
How I'm confused. And now you're making an album. Yeah, yeah,
so it's going to be more of a put together.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
It's the same vibe because back then we were making
mixtapes that were sounding like albums. They were kind of
better than albums a little bit, like we took the
original format of a mixtape and like what a DJ
would do or what anybody would do, and like, how
fitty you know what I'm saying he was doing.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Dude, just do freestyles blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
But that's what blew him up to be able to
do features and then ultimately drop his album. So that
same method still works. It's just we're in a different
climate and it depends on where you're at in your career.
So for me, it's not really smart to like try
to drop a bunch of tapes, but it is smart
for me to have like an outlet where I can
test things with my fans. And I'm free to put
(10:08):
a song out here or three songs there or blah
blah blah. Just that's how people digest music now, and
then that lets me know, you know, what the album
should sound like or where I should be at when
I do drop the album.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Got it?
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Where do you think you are? Now? Like you're not
O G status, but are you really?
Speaker 3 (10:27):
I'm an O in?
Speaker 1 (10:28):
When did that happen?
Speaker 3 (10:30):
You know how they got y N I'm an O in?
Speaker 1 (10:32):
When did that happen? When did that kick in?
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Because I guess like in the past like five or
six years when I've just been chilling. I'm thirty seven now, okay, yeah,
I'll be thirty eight this year, and.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
You got years in the game, so yeah it makes sense.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah. The original cushion Orange Juice just turned fifteen.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Yeah, and that's like, you know, that's some people's whole
career right there.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
For me, that's just you know, a chapter in my career.
But to be able to do that and to still
be able to travel the world performing, you know, all
over the world on a you know weekend le basis.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Is that every weekend?
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Yeah pretty much?
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, Yeah, it's a good run. It's a great run,
and it's like it's it's a job for real. And
that's how I look at it now. Like coming up,
I was really really always just trying to you know,
put my art and my creativity. But I've done so
much when it comes to that that it's sustainable now
and that's where I'm at in my career. Is like
(11:30):
I'm letting the music carry and I'm creating new moments
as well. But I understand you know, my place for sure.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Good for you man. People always that should be the goal,
was like for artists's to become like a career artist.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Yeah, were you at that.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Type of run?
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Yeah, definitely, because the artists because there's no.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Like benefits, there's no retirement.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
We're really doing the side of the love. And I
could have just been like, all right, cool, I'm gonna
perform see you again for the rest of my life.
But I actually love music and I of you know,
bonding with my fans and things like that, so I'll
take the risks of creating a new album, promoting a
new album, getting on the road, and performing a new album. Also,
there's another ten to fifteen years of that legacy as.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Well, so is it a risk.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
You feel like it's a risk.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
It is a risk because yeah, because people could not
fuck with it, but I know they will because I'm
that I'm him guy. Yeah, yeah, for what I do
and for my people for sure, like they're always going
to do that. And I know when I work hard
and when I put my foot on the gas, I
get results, Like I'm not going to do all of
this work and then not come back the way that
it's supposed to. So you know, I just keep that going.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I like when you talk, you should talk.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
You shit a little bitter.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
I'm that guy. I have no worries.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
I'm super confident.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
I was going to say, you have no insecurities about anything,
like no fear when you're dropping new music.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Of course you got fear. But I face my fears though.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
That's what makes me confident because I'm not going up
something against something that's a guarantee, you know what I mean.
But when I come out on top, that's what makes
me look like that guy.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
That guy's that guy. Let's look at your real life questionnaire.
What did you just eat? Wings? Of course, because weed
and wings and orange washed it down. Yeah, it's a
real thing. It's a real thing. What is your go
to karaoke song?
Speaker 3 (13:21):
The throng song?
Speaker 1 (13:25):
I pay good money, I pay solid money for that.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Come see me at karaoke?
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Do you really do it? Like you know the words?
Why this song? Why this song? Of all the songs?
Speaker 3 (13:33):
I think it's a good party song. Yeah, it's great.
I guess it gets the girls. Yeah, everybody gets all
rouled up for that one.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Your superpower is smoking tons of weed, and there's no ceiling.
There's never too much weed.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
No.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Fascinating.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
So if you get high and you're like, I'm really high,
and then you were to keep smoking, it's still not
too much.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
It's not too much.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
You just get higher and there's a you explore the
next the next room, the next level.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
What is the highest level that you've ever gotten to? Like,
what is the level if this was if this was
a video game.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
It's called Whiz Khalifa High.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
And what happens when you're on Wi Kalia High?
Speaker 2 (14:23):
You create dope albums, beautiful babies, great co parenting, you
can you connect with your fans on a spiritual level.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
That's what happens when you get whis Kali Hi.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Who is your celebrity crush whis Khalifa?
Speaker 3 (14:40):
It's me?
Speaker 1 (14:42):
You are him?
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Yeah, I'm really that guy. I just love me so much.
I love me some me.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
What is your favorite thing about you?
Speaker 2 (14:54):
I'm very thoughtful, like I'm I'm Yeah, I'm a thoughtful
person to the point where like even and if it's
just telling giving you a compliment, like I like to
make people's day better. So it's not even like a
gift or anything like that, but that's my gift.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
If you bump into me, you're gonna have a great
day afterwards.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
What do you say? What is it just just because.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
I give warm hugs, I smell good, My laugh is condagious,
Like it's just so much good stuff about me.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Do you do affirmations like in the morning in the mirror?
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Like do you do?
Speaker 1 (15:26):
And you don't need them honestly because.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
I'm just walking around saying them in my head all day.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Wow, you're that guy. Yeah, you know, it's so funny
you say that about compliments. I just for some reason,
I had a flashback, like the first time I interviewed you,
and you are not the og. At that point, you
were a baby, baby, you were a baby, and you
left my you left the interview and you tweeted. You
went on Twitter and you said Edge Martinez, it was
strength something about you. You just said something so.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Sweet that I was like, oh, yeah, that's me.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
I always remember that. Even when you were coming up.
I was like, oh, I remember that time he tweeted
that thing. It was so nice, Like I remember that.
Look at you doing whiz Khalifa things. That's what whiz
Khalifa thing.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
I was whiz Khalifa. You got your You got yours early.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
I have to find the tweeting gear. I got it
early in the game, so you was whizzing back then.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Man, it comes natural.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
I guess the girls must have loved that. They do
like when you're the when she's the girl, Yeah, the
person in your life, your partner.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Or your Yeah, yeah absolutely.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
You're probably super attentive and.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Very much so.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Good gift giver.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Yeah actually yeah, yeah, really good gift giver. Yeah mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
To get her in here, got to get her in here.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Good question. He's a happy woman.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
And you must be happy too. What is your pet peeve?
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Non smoking events?
Speaker 1 (16:53):
How dare they?
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Yeah? Right? Like why not?
Speaker 1 (16:55):
What about when you go to those countries that it's
not legal. Please be careful, wiz.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
I am being careful, and they usually let me smoke, honestly,
really yeah, yeah, they let me smoke because I'm respectful.
They just don't want you like selling it or like
giving it to people and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
You just move careful, yeah, really careful.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Your bucket list is to chill in space.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
So would you have gotten on that rocket with Gail
King and them if they invited you with the girls?
Speaker 3 (17:21):
M m hmm a bunch of girls in space? Heck? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:28):
What if there was no weed? What if there was
no weed allowed in the ship?
Speaker 2 (17:33):
I think I could get like a special little tank,
you know what I mean? Or I just like hit
a button, get a few puffs, and then you know
up there. Yeah yeah, I got, I got my weed,
my cush tank right here.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
You do it, and oh my god, this makes me
so happy. The last thing that sent you down a
rabbit hole.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Oh golfing videos? Oh yeah, yeah, you do golf. You
started a little thing, didn't you.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
I'm a golfer.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yeah, yeah, you're a golfer. I just seen a video
of yours, like you got all your girls to go golf, and.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
She was terrible, but it was her first time. Everybody's
terrible the first time.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Yeah, I'm not a golfer, but I just started like
kind of cussing around and like I'm like hook just
from messing around and being an amateur.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
I love this for you. It's so you because I
think that the golf is like it's for people who
