to having you back in town.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Have you worked with Rod or Cindy before?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I haven't worked with Rod, but I've met him, met
him a couple of times. I worked with some of
his muss over the years, but he's He's still in
the top five greatest shows I've ever seen in my life.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Yeah, oh really.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
I saw him back in the day in Not About
Money seventy seven, seventy eight. Yes, just an amazing show.
I've always loved his voice, and you know, I love
his character. He's a cheeky bugger.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
He's a cheeky bugger. Yeah. Then he kicks kicks of
soccer balls out in the crowd and.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Has he has a lot of fun. I actually saw
him in twenty nineteen in the States when he was
in Vegas. I saw his show there. It was just phenomenal. So,
you know, to get the call up and and to
be asked to you know, before to the whole tour
of the Australia and he's younger. You know, I'm just
so excited to be able to stand side of stage

(01:10):
every night and watch the Master in action, you know,
because he's incredible. So and you know, Cimdy Lauper Simdy
Wopper was an old friend actually from back in the
late eighties. We we met her and we were touring
with Noiseworks. We met her in Italy together and you know,
over the years she'd come to Australian we catch up
and you know, she's an absolutely wonderful ladia. Yeah, very

(01:33):
and she's she's all hard, that girl. She's amazing. And
so I'm really really excited to see Cindy and to
hang out with her again. And you know, she's such
a beautiful person and you know, and you know, the
talent is beyond you know, so very humbly, you know,
I'm very excited to be singing with them guys, even

(01:55):
if it is on.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
First He just said Rod Stewart was one of the
top five shows you've ever seen. Who else is in
the top five shows you've ever seen?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
David Bowie, Yes, yes, yeah, back in the day, any
of them really, Yes, Yes, Rolling Stones and Paul McCarty.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
It's a pretty solid top five. Yeah, you sing the best.
You're talking about Rod there being the master. If there
was one song that you could have a crack out,
what would it be? If one of his classics?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Oh god, there's so many. Maggie May was always a song,
you know, I just think you remember it as a
as a small kid. Really, you know, it was always playing,
It was always playing. I just love that song. Every
time I hear that particular song, it sort of takes
me back to that when I was that child again
a bazar. That song just immediately all these memories and

(02:46):
smells and you know, pictures come back to my head.
That's amazing, you know. So, yeah, that that one, that
song in particular.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
The last time we spoke to John, you were in
town for By the Sea with the original Noise Works
line up. Did everything go as plan? Did you have
the time?

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah? We released a new album, Evolution, Yeah, you know,
and Stuart Fraser dear Old Stewary and we passed away.
He's on that played on the whole record. So we
just felt like we needed to get that record out
and honor Stuart's memory and also Obviously, when you do
do that, you need to go and do a few shows.
So we're actually finishing up that too as we speak.
We just finished in Sydney on the weekend and we

(03:28):
are we are hitting up. We're in Melbourne this week
and next week, so we've got about ten more shows
left of the of the Noise Rocks tour. And yeah,
that's it, and then back to John Stevens stuffing, doing
my own.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Thing, doing the thing live with your band. Okay, let's
talk about the Egyptian statue in the room Balie's eightieth
birthday party. And you weren't the only person who was
well known there, mate, How was it and who was there?

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Well, I can honestly say that he was sober, so
that's good. Good pants up, pants up. I did notice
he was a big padlock on his pants, A decent belch. No,
dear old, dear old Molly. You know, he's you know,
he's he's old. He's getting old. He can hardly move

(04:14):
around much, but he's still got his wits about him.
You know, he's a bit slower, but he's still that guy,
that cheeky bugger. Yeah, you know, and yeah, it was good,
good to see him. Good to be there to celebrate him.
I first met Molly in nineteen eighty one. Wow, so
you know, forty two years ago I met that man
his life exactly. So yeah, it was it was lovely

(04:39):
to be there to pay respects to the great Mully Melchium.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
And he's earn't that respect because he genuinely has had
such an influence on music, hasn't he massive?

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Massive? And you know all all the people that have
come out, you know, to say about the effect he's
had on music known from my daughters thing, you know,
I mean everyone need obviously and yeah, everyone loved money.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Yeah, and how many people of a generation watch Countdown
every Sunday night?

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Mate?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
And then later his influenced with hate Saturday he had
those two vehicles to push them with his passion changed. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
I feel sorry for kids today and not having something
like Countdown to look forward to. But I mean there's
too much choice now that they can get it everywhere.
But it was such a just such a moment every
Sunday night.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yeah, it was. Well, now they've got TikTok and the
yeah explode every format and for him, yeah, that's right overload. Well,
nothing's a good live concert. Absolutely right, Rod Stewart, Cyndy Lauper,
I mean until the gravest of all time. So you know,

(05:49):
