Nicola Estate. It's coming to Perth direct from bar and Bay.

That was for the rest of us, but you're playing
alongside the likes of Tickets, TV Brothers, Counting Crows, Michael
Frandy AND's Spearhead. I mean, it's an awesome lineup. Have
you had dealings with any of the slot before.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I've dealt with all of them. I've had enough of them. Yeah, yeah,
I know a few of them. I know of them. Michael,
Michael and I go quite a way back. Yes, you know.
We're doing some work letter on together near near the
States in the Caribbean. Actually, that'll be hard work.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I love to go to the Caribbean.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Michael Frank and John Butler.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Yeah, he invited me. I'm like, uh, let's see.

Speaker 3 (01:18):

Speaker 2 (01:20):
He can need to be amazing or it could be
you know, it's a very hostage situation. Amazing come back
to just like Triple COVID. But anyways, moving on, Uh yeah,
Blue First Blue. I mean, I'm looking for the TV
brothers I've never.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Yeah, and we had a chat with with Michael McDonald
last week. The great beautiful soul voice that he's gotten
and he's excited to be back with the band.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
They're celebrating fifty years.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Huge, some proper legendary stuff there.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
It's pretty amazing. So John, you're heading to the Caribbean
soon and you've seen been in North America as well.
You got a bit of stuff to do there.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, I'm heading over there. That's just up to the
Blue Space take over there for six weeks, play a
solo tour and I've been wanting to play for a
few years and all that kind of stuff. Yeah, it's
gonna be fun. I'm actually really really looking forward to
that tour.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
I mean I'm assuming you have some personal ties to
that part of the world.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Oh yeah, yeah, I mean I was. I was born
there and yeah, my brother still lives there. But yeah,
we won't be doing a whole heap of family stuff.
I just be working.

Speaker 5 (02:33):
But yeah, no, I don't worry. It's okay.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
The family think we'll do it again. But yeah, I
mean I've been looking to do a solo touring the
stakes about the last ten years, and just we keep
on choosing trio. So I've been really really hanging out

(02:58):
to play a seller for them.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
And you're right you when you as well as all
the music of course on your Instagram, see you have
a video about domestic bliss hacks, and I'm wondering, what
is your sure fire never fails way to hack, A
path to domestic bliss? What always works when everything else fails?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Ah, going to bed, go to bed. This is close
to let's go to bed. This is my bed.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Okay, that's that's my kind of hack.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
In fact, we're going to do it right now.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
You know. It's just like no, I choose not to.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yeah, okay, it's brilliant.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Like you said, old time go to It's like you
put me on the spot, like how can I like
one up all of it? And I was like, you
know what, I can one up it by saying you
don't exist.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Oh okay, I like go to bed when all else
files go to bed?

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Exactly, you don't exist. I'm going to bed. There's no
dirty dishes or dirty I don't know it's actually anybody's
talking about I can't hear you.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
It's all just tangible stuff that gets in the ways.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Are my kind of hacks not that nonsense about don't
go to bed angry? Well, then i'd be up for
a month. I mean yeah, I like this good honest hacks.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Hey, John, can you tell me mate from the stage,
from being a performer on the stage. I'm not sure
how much attention you're paying whilst you're doing what you're
doing to the crowd out there. But the crowds into
mid twenty twenty three that we're heading towards very quickly. Now,
are they reminiscent of how people were reacting in the
crowd in twenty nineteen pre covid or Is it does
like a new excitement that people are allowed to get
out and just go and enjoy live music again.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Ah, that good question. No, it's pretty everybody's coming back
to normal.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
Everybody's had a gup ful of not being able to dance.
I'm not going to do this, I'm not about to
do that, And you know, people resume their positions of Okay,
let's have good time. Yeah, I mean even through COVID.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Actually, I played quite a few festivals. I was a
very lucky musician. I played a ton of festivals. Was
an amazing press promoter named John Zacharya, the Somersault stuff.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
And and uh I got to be part of that.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
And yeah, actually during COVID people were going more crazy.
I played. I played one week before a lockdown in Melbourne,
and I was watching some pretty wild stuff taking place there.
I remember going, wow, this is well, remember to be
dancing some parts of the world and these people are
losing their ship. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so long ago.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Now in some ways.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Yeah, it was a fuzzy, weird little night Mary kind
of ye out god looking Yeah, I said, f out.
I didn't even see the real words.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Well done, all right, well to.

Speaker 1 (06:08):

of us can get us through Ticketmaster. It's April the
first Nicola Estate, which is I mean blues wine and
fresh from Byron Bay, well, fresh from Margaret River for John.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
In a way, and people doing that blues dancing down
the front where they just lose on the ambitions.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
We look forward to it.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
You guys are forging whatever sorry. So you guys are
just rolling forward with your own agenda of like people
dancing and absolutely it's actually my birthday. That's what the
festival is about.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
On the day.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Cool, it's no joke, no joke, you're far from a
full time.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I kind of like, I kind of asked the organized
a little something on me Relateely's bagging one of the
Derbie brothers.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yeah, was that your request? But something for your birthday? Okay?

Speaker 2 (07:06):

will you mate.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
See Nicholas stay on your birthday.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Awesome, guys, John's birthday.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
It's tough being John Butler waking up in Margaret River
taking his bags and there are no such thing as
coming here.

Speaker 3 (07:26):

Speaker 1 (07:27):
