and joining us now in Moss. Good morning, good morning,
are you together alone? I do love a good oxymoron, a.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Good just as long as you don't take it the
other way around.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Alone Alone, Alone, Together, together Alone, it's a great title.
You've got a big weekend actually coming up, don't you
actually doing the Red Hot Summer on Saturday at Sandleford, And.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Don't forget Troy and I are also doing Together Alone
out of cal Gooley on Thursday night.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Well, you have got a big going on, I tell
you what.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
They'll love that, good old girl.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Yeah, looking forward to getting back the very sad circumstances
with Troy losing his mum. You've got very close to
doing a lot of these gigs quite a long time ago, now.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, I think it was about last July when that happened.
We'd just gotten through a gig at Gerlden and uh yeah,
I got that that rather terrible news. So yeah, obviously
we definitely had to postponed Perth and And and the
Adelaide gigs as well, So we got through adelaide the
govern the other night, and so looking forward to finally
(01:16):
getting it done, getting the Perth.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
We're very grateful that you didn't just you know, canad
all together any coming back? Now? Have you caught up
with Barnesy recently? How's he doing?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Not not in the flesh as it were, but yeah,
I think you know not. I'm not even sure exactly
what he has done, but it all sounds toirly serious.
He just said, oh, you know, a bit, lots of
wear and tear. Yeah, I'll be a new man at
the end of it all.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
He's been doing a lot of pool therapy. I keep
seeing photos on the on the socials of him and
the pool working on the working on the new hip.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yes, yeah, yeah, no, no, no small operation. No.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
I imagine all those years of you know, performing there
off to his right or left or whatever it was
that you were on. You must have you know, snuck
a couple of glances and thought, mate, one of these
days that's going to.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Be Yeah, it is one that used to climb the
PA stacks and yeah two a bit of body body surfing,
and when he first tried, out of the crowd said
what the hell are you doing? They all stepped beside me,
went was crashing through the floor. Yeah, yeah, this is
a bombay rocking about ninety seventy nine. He didn't feel
a thing, grabbed me in one of one of those
sort of neck hugs and we end up rubbing faces
(02:32):
because were singing the same microphone. Then he stepped back.
His blood was on my face. He saw the look
on my face, a look of horror looking at him
and realized that was in my blood, that it was
his blood.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Brothers up there some of those runs, some of those
runs you do through the stage with the bottle in
the air and the last end. Concept was that kind
of stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
That's crazy nan danger of stuff. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
We got caught up with Michael McDonald and the Doobie
Brothers last week, which is a great pleasure, and we
asked him about influences and we knew a lot of
it was about Motown for him. How about influencers for
you musically guitar and as vocal as a vocalist.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Mate, Well, let's start with vocals. Just yeah, definitely all
the early soul stuff, you know, Ray Charles, Sam Cook
in particular, and then all that motown you know. And
I was a big fan of Paul Rogers from Free
but he was obviously clear they just reading and all
(03:29):
those influenced by all those kind of people. Guitar was
always blues bassed, you know when I when I just
as I picked up guitar, Hendricks hits the scene and
all the British greats like Jeff Back in particular of
the late great Jeff Back from my number one idol.
Really so I was definitely shed a tear when he
(03:50):
left us recently. Yeah, so it was yeah, but you know,
once again heavier, but still all blues, blues based stuff.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
I feel like if someone was to compile a list
of all the people that you know, people like yourself
say were an influence, the one name that gets mentioned
so regularly is Sam Cook. It doesn't matter who it is,
Sam Cook comes up.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Oh yeah, yeah, because he was kind of just well
maybe it's just slightly before Redding's time. Yeah, so he
was yeah before that. I don't know, hard not to
love clean voters ye and still today just an extraordinary voice,
so sweet and strong influence.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
John Walker is Dead has described you as the most
gifted musician he has ever seen. Who do you think
is the most gifted. Is it Sam Cook?
Speaker 2 (04:48):
It's Sam Cook. Ah, That's that's hard.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
That's a tough question.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
You have to have a bunch of them.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I mean, there's so many, so many young guitar playing
on There's so many guys just brilliant, were technically brilliant.
But it's the ones that sort of to me, it's
the guys that sort of or the people, whether it
be singing or guitars or whatever, they do with a
kind of big It might they might not necessarily be
technically whiz bangs, you know, six guns judice, but yeah,
(05:21):
they do this thing that you you can't put a
finger on and you want so badly. Yes, it's something
to do with the field or or a soul, or
or a good answer motion whatever.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, you must he speaking about Jeff Becker's noticed it
on the weekend. Someone sent me a night saying that
Eric Clapton has put a bunch of friends together. They're
doing a tribute to Jeff Pick at the Royal Albert
Hall in London. There are two nights in May. Wouldn't
that be magical to be at.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
It would be indeed? Yeah, that's uh. Locally, Peter in
the North North count the thing has done a great effort.
There's there's a few going around. Yeah, I'm I wouldn't
mind getting on one of those and giving it a shot.
And yeah, you know, just paying my respects the best
possibly could.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Well, maybe we'll see you and Tricassa Daily on that
list soon. If you survive cal Gooley you are in
town at the Asta Theater on Sunday the Red Hot
Summer Tour on Saturday. Tickets are through ticket Tech for
Together alone at the Asta Theater. Always nice to chat
to you, Mossie.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Yes, guys as always great love getting back to person.
So it was always one of the most best reactive cities,
you know, right right from the beginning of people that
people they just let you if they like you, they
really let you.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Absolutely man, all right, thanks you.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
All the best. Thank you,
