Welcome to it, Broncos Country tonight, but with all Brian Dick Ferguson Grant

(00:03):
Smith Fab six nine zeros text linenines of Itan Olsa's being the remote for
your dad before the remotes, hugewooden box TV adjusting the Rabbit Years and
the new channel because they didn't comein the same antenna position as each other.
Fun times. My dad thought Iwas a technical genius because you knew
how to do the rabbit ears.Yeah, just when you started to get
you know, the HDMI s andstuff, and later on in my childhood

(00:27):
mind just staying there, just theplace, don't move. Yeah, yeah,
good memories, good times. Yeah. I mean again, we didn't
know what the TV till I wasthirteen, so I never had any any
of that kind of stuff. Butuh, I remember my grandfather being weird
about that. Like the rabbit ears, they had a huge box set television
or whatever. Those things used toweigh so much. Yeah, those TVs

(00:49):
were so heavy. They had onethat was like built into this giant hutch
like thing or whatever. I haveno idea how they ended up ever getting
rid of that thing. It waslike seventies tastic, right, So I
did not go with the decorat Mygrandmother had something like that where it was
kind of a combination of the televisionand a stereo on top. Yeah,
on the Toro tables and a microphone. Where's that your grandma? Sounds cool?

(01:14):
Grand tour Beck the Kenway common spiritlHotla and bring on Parker Gabriel the
Denver Post or how's it going,Buddy good? You get doing doing pretty
well? You uh got the newstoday, Sam Mustafer signing with the Denver
Broncos a veteran center. I say, veteran's better on the league a little
bit, has a few starts.Uh, that gives some experience, I
think to that position, big bigguy, older brother of PJ. Mustafer,

(01:38):
who was the under at the defensivetackle here last year on the practice
squad for a while. Does thissigning say anything about this offensive line?
I think mostly just that Sean Payton'snever been a guy who is going to
rely entirely on young players. Andso the fact that the you know,
that position is one where even ifAlex sporst if Luke Wattenberg ends up starting

(02:00):
there, you know you got aguy who started for the games. I
mean, it's not all that differentthan last year. You know, they
had Kyle Fuller in camp. Itwas different because Lloyd Kushenberry had played and
started, but they didn't know alot about him. They had put Fullyer
there for a while. Eventually, you know, he got released. I
think if the roster cutdown. SoI'm not saying that Sam Mustifer is gonna

(02:22):
get cut or whatever, but likeit's just competition for that spot, and
it's sort of the I don't know, moneyball way that they've approached the agency
so far. You know, threelinemen that are all kind of just post
rookie contracts and then see what they'vegot over summer. Do you think the
fact that Mussifer and Mike mcglitchy, who were teammates in Notre Dame, that

(02:46):
they can somehow rekindle what they hadin college and bring that kind of vibe
and that nastiness to the Broncos offensiveline. Yeah, that's a good question,
Nick. I mean, I thinkit's it's a version of that.
I think part of it is thatthey probably just trust the evaluation of Harry
Heatstand, who is like a longtime the long time you know, the

(03:07):
great offensive line coach at Notre Damewas there maybe in twenty twenty two again
came out of retirement and then retiredagain. Now they have Joe Rudolph,
But you know, Sean Payton knowsall those guys that have been around the
Upper Midwest for a long time,Northwestern Notre Dame, you know, streets
that actually obviously was sort of inthat in that mix. And so you

(03:28):
know, they they they've picked guysabout this age and free agency so far
after their first contract. And whenyou have some familiarity, whether it's McGlinchey
himself or you know, the guysthat coached him in college and with the
Bears, you know, that makesit easy to make a call and say,
hey, you know, what arewe getting? And then and then
you have a better idea on thatwhen the guy gets in your buildings.

(03:51):
Haven't been major players in free agencyfor obvious reason. But are there any
of these signings that they have madeso far that stood out to you?
I mean, I really like theJosh Reynolds feel, especially where it ended
up from from a guarantee standpoint. You know, it's basically a two year,
nine million dollar contract to get aguy who like not only has ability

(04:13):
in the receiving game, but youknow he had some He's got some nasty
to him as a run blocker andjust in you know, digging out safety's
blocking on the edge and all that, and like that's what they were looking
for last year in free agency whenthey were in on All and Wizard and
I don't know, maybe they certainlylooks now like they dodge a bullet.

(04:33):
You never know exactly how it playsout a year ago, if if if
Lizard ends up in Denver instead ofwith the Jets or whatever. But like,
but Reynolds just sort of has thatand you know for all of the
things that the Broncos other receivers dowell. I mean, Brandon Johnson's a
willing blocker, you know them's tried, but he's not very big. It

(04:55):
hasn't been a strength of Courtland Suton'sgame recently. And so like just that
element of like some tough, somenasty, some veteran. Then maybe get
st Patrick back you know healthy thisyear too, Like that one among a
bunch of sort of like you know, like you say, sort of modest
deals that one. And then I'minterested to see what Matt Perrick has.
I don't I don't know if it'sa lot or a little or what.

(05:18):
But when you got a guy thatis that big and has that frame and
he's gonna maybe be your swing tackle, there's something that's a little bit more
dynamic about that than you know,a true just sort of veteran guy like
camp Clemming. Well, the Broncosare at that stage of the draft process
where they're now able to bring intheir top thirty prospects for visits, and

(05:40):
Michael Pennix was one of those typesof guys that they brought in. When
when you think about these top thirtyvisits, what do you make of it?
Do you do you really think thatteams when they bring these guys in,
they're truly looking to bring those playersin, They're looking to draft those
players, or this is just heyman, they're searching for information as much
as they can. Yeah, it'salways a little bit of everything. Like

(06:02):
if you take the thirty, Imean there's probably I don't know exactly what
the numbers would be any given year. I know, like last year there
were definitely a handful of guys thatthey ended up either drafting or signing,
you know, after the draft asfree agents that they had in on visits,
and so clearly like sometimes you're doingit because you're interested in a player

(06:23):
and you need to know more abouthim. Sometimes obviously not the case with
Michael Pennix, but like sometimes aguy doesn't get invited to the combine and
you want more medicals or whatever, maybe they use the penis visit to you
know, get a little bit moremedical information, although the reports from the
combine were pretty solid on that front. And then like the rules on this

(06:43):
time of year, especially as itpertains the quarterbacks, is like just you
know, it's it's there's not muchthat you can really actually trust and so
and then the other thing with penis, like if you want to be just
sort of practical about it is heand Drake May had their pro days on
the same day, and so JohnOrton, the passing game coordinator, and
some some scouts were up in Seattlefor Penix, but most of the Broncos

(07:06):
offensive staff and everybody else was inNorth Carolina for Drake May. And so
it's a chance for everybody else tohave extended time with Michael Pennix, where
that that just obviously wasn't possible sincehe worked out on the same day as
another one of the quarterbacks a coupleof weeks ago. Well, while we're
talking about quarterbacks in the draft, let's let's pivot to that. What what

(07:27):
Uh, I guess that's a twopart or one. What do you think
the Broncos will do? And andtoo what do you think they should do?
Yeah? I mean, you know, yay know this. I mean,
Seawn's just never been a trade downguy. And so, like I
thought it was interesting, uh inOrlando when he sort of said, I
mean, it's really he went onthis, it's really easy to say,

(07:49):
oh, let's just trade down andget another pick and all that, but
like you know, it's not alwaysthat easy. And I mean, I
think it'd be interesting to see themtry that because use at some point,
at some point, the teams inthe top let's say, I don't know,
thirteen, Like there's gonna there's afinite number that are going to take

(08:11):
quarterbacks. It might be a bignumber, but at some point, like
it's hard for me to believe thatfive are going to be off the board.
Four might be, but it's hardfor me to believe five are going
to be off the board. Whentwelve rolls around and it's a little bit
hard for me to believe that allsix of them are going in the first
round. So like a lot ofit has to do with how you see,
you know, bow Nix versus MichaelPennox Junior, and then also what

(08:35):
the gap is from those two toSpencer Rattler. But like, I think
they will trade up if the rightguy makes it past three, and I'd
be I mean, that's that's obviouslyif you have that sort of condition,
how a guy do it. ButI'd be very interested in the trade down

(08:56):
scenario just to see be an knowthe type of player that you could get
maybe later in the first round, while also figuring the quarterback thing out Parking.
That's interesting because obviously when we talkabout quarterbacks in the Broncos or in
desperate need of one, and Benand I have heard from so many fans
who want the team to move up. But I heard you say a word

(09:16):
in the phrase that you put together, was the right quarterback. What does
the right quarterback look like? Fora guy like Champagne, we already know
that he doesn't want a guy whowas going to play outside the structure,
So what does that really look like? Jadon Daniels. I mean, okay,

(09:37):
no, but like but like itseems to me, and this is
this is speculation. It's just alot of weeks of thinking about very little
work wise other than the draft. But like it just seems like it some
way if quarterbacks don't go one, two, three, like if one of
them gets to number four, andyou know you can't I don't think you

(09:58):
can just JJ McCarthy in this situationeither, But like, you know,
let's say that, let's say Minnesotatrades up to three and their guy just
for this conversation is Drake May,Right, So then you've got you know,
three off the board, and McCarthy'ssitting there. Okay, you know,
if you feel strong about him,go get him. He's young,

(10:18):
he's athletic, he's got a lotof growth ahead of him. But it
just I don't know, they're sofamiliar with LSU from the time in Louisiana,
Ja Daniels is so dynamic down thefield. He can run, but
he's not a runner like that justto me, like, I don't know,
I could be way up, butlike it just seems like if he

(10:39):
was the guy that that somehow gotout top here, I don't think he
will, But if he did, that just strikes me as Okay, we
weren't sure this was going to happen, but it did, and now we're
going to take advantage of it.I think, and I've said this for
several weeks now, I think theywant to move up to get their guy.
I'm not sure that it's feasible, even though he said it was down
there, and you know, atthe order side, I think it's more

(11:01):
likely that they trade back and multiplypicks, and you know, in an
arrow where they just don't have thatmuch draft capital. They got a lot
of picks, but they're all lateand this draft is really the first one
hundred and forty picks or so.Everything after that's just kind of falls off
a cliff. We got an interestingquestion on the text line. I'll just
ask it to you. Besides quarterback, what's the next position in the Broncos
need. Yeah, I've thought aboutthis, Like there's a bunch of options

(11:26):
they've spoken really highly of, likewhat they think Riley Moss is going to
be. They traded a third roundpick in this year's draft to move up
like twenty spots. I think todraft him last year, but like,
I don't know, you guys,tell me who's who's the starter opposite passer
ten right now? To him?Well, I mean I'm all for them

(11:48):
going for a corner, but thefan base melts down anytime I suggest that
on Twitter. Yeah, well theycan melt on this time because I said
it. They have a bunch ofyoung rushers who are nice players, but
like time moves really fast in theNFL, Jonathan Cooper and Darren Browning are
both entering the last year of theirrookie contracts. They could use like a

(12:11):
guy at edge, Like if youthink if you think that you know Layout
two Latsu or Dallas Turner, ifhe's there at twelve, Like if you
think one of those guys is yoursort of number one, your bell cow
for several years, wouldn't be madabout that it frankly, they could use
the number one receiver if one ofthose guys fell down. I mean they

(12:31):
there's a lot of ways they couldgo. The one thing I'll say,
and you know, Sean Payton hasinvested so much in the offensive line,
Like Joe Walt's not making it totwelve, but if Joelt made it to
twelve, like that would probably givehim a lot to think about and if
you think you can solve the tackleequation long term, especially with Careful's going

(12:52):
into the last year's contract, Ifeel like if it wasn't quarterback, they'd
want to take a tackle and thenand again you'd have the same conversation about
like, is a guy there thatyou just don't feel like you can say
no to at number twelve or evenlike you know, a couple of picks
back further than that. So whenyou look at this upcoming season and no
matter what the Broncos do in takinga quarterback, which I think that they

(13:15):
will, whether they move up andmove back, there's been a lot of
conversation that this team should take ona different approach, approach that other teams
have taken on in the past.We saw the Colts and the suck for
Luck whole campaign and they've been ableto land Andrew Luck. I mean,
were you on this whole idea thatthe Broncos in twenty twenty four this season
should be one of those tank typeseasons. Yeah, I mean, you

(13:39):
just it's sort of hard to doalmost in the NFL because there's so much
parody. I mean, you know, the Patriots almost messed it up last
year in Denver, and so it'slike when you go through all that work
to be intentionally bad and then youknow, are you bad enough? Like
I don't. I just don't think, especially with Sean Paige. I mean,

(14:00):
even if you're like, look, this year is gonna be what it's
gonna be. We're gonna take ourmedicine. The Rams did that last year.
They ended up in the playoffs, and so you know, if you're
Sean Payton, you're like, youunderstand the reality of the situation. You
have a lot of dead money, you have a young team, you've had
some contracts, you've replaced expensive guyswith less expensive guys, But like,
do you really think, like inweek seven, he's going to be sitting

(14:22):
there looking at whoever it is that'snext and being like, I don't care
if we win. No, ofcourse not like it's just it's very hard
from a human standpoint to do that. And not only that, but like
you do not want, especially if'regetting younger this year, you don't want
your guys to like say, well, this year doesn't count and that's not
going to help you in twenty twentyfive. So like that's where like,

(14:43):
that's where front offices typically drive this, because it's all about the roster that
you put together in the off seasonand with the say like George Peyton has
you know, not had the smoothestride here and so obviously he doesn't want
them to be very bad, andSean just like won't go for it.
So you know, like I justit's easy to say, but I just

(15:07):
don't see it. I don't thinkthey're gonna be very good. But like
I don't think it's gonna be anintentional like you know, tank for sugar
type of thing. Real quick,Parker, last one for me, what
is one thing the Broncos need tocome away with in this draft or you
want them to come away with inthis draft? Oh, that's a good
question. I mean the obvious oneis is quarterback. Obviously I'd be very

(15:33):
interested if they pick the running backsomewhere where it makes it very clear they
think are running back's really good.Like I don't know if that's a seventy
six, but like even in thefifth round, because you know they've got
a room fold, there hasn't beenany change there. They still got Davonte
Williams and Samaj p Ryan and JuliaMcLoughlin. But again you're talking about the

(15:54):
final year of contracts for Javonte, who has something to prove. I think
after last year, first year backoff the major knee injury, it's the
last year of Samaj's field. Thenyou've got Joel in there too, Like,
I don't know, I just thinklike a dynamic every down running back
would be a very interesting addition tothis offense. And there's some guys in

(16:15):
this draft, uh, the kidsfrom Tennessee, Jalen Wright, Marshaun Lute,
usc Ray Davis from Kentucky. Like, there's some guys who are going
to be around, you know, pushing date three that are pretty sweet.
Yeah. Well, Parker, hey, we appreciate it had been too long
and now I have to get youon again here soon for the draft.
Yeah, no doubt, any kindof guys. Absolutely take care of Parker,

(16:36):
Gabriel Denver Post when we come back. The NFL sixpack, Welcome back
to it, Broncos Country Tonight,Benjamin o Albright, Hick Cardessy and Ferguson
Grant the mustache Mansmith just made thoseup. Aren't you proud of me?
They's been with the cast iron stomach, the whole Breakwell, are you we're

(16:56):
just talking about what we actually seein the studio, genuinely concerned for my
health in here because it was absolutelyridiculous. Yeah, we're actually worried about
you. I'm just hungry, saysay even smoke anything. I'm just hungry.
You just you go to draw hisblood and it comes out like Rocky
road ice. Just McDonald's telling you. It was just like a scene from

(17:18):
the Simpsons or whatever where mister birdsjust as physical or whatever. They give
them bags and you know, no, sir, they's flank a sneeze.
Everything is perfectly imbalanced. It's likeevery disease known to man. It's just
like perfectly imbalanced or whatever. Sotempera I said, have been ate like
salad for a week, His systemprobably shut down, Yeah he would.

(17:41):
This body wouldn't know what to do. First of all, eat salad.
That's what my food eats. Butlike I do, I do. Like
there's some vegetables I like, likecarrots and corn and broccoli. Broccoli like
corn like corn is just straight carbs. Like the moments you eat corn and
digest it, it comes out thesame freaking way. Yeah, I'm just
saying, well, les frequently forlike, I just say it like like

(18:06):
I do. I like vegetables. There there are vegetables that eat especially.
I love broccoli. I love greenbeans, little carrots, asparagus. Think
about what he's saying. Think aboutwhat he's saying. He said he loves
them. He didn say he lovesto eat them. No, look,
he loves us, just kind oflooking at them. I've got a really
good I've got a really good likefor broccoli. I do this like Brocoli
thing. You know, you burnedit, broccoli with salt, pepper,

(18:29):
little broccoli. I'm telling you youlove it. Wait a minute, I
thought you were not supposed to chargeyour food. No, you for broccoli.
You be overcook it. You burnit on one side, you do
it. I'm telling you, whatdoing the skilly? What else you can
do? You drill a honey overit. That sounds like me eating the
steak. Right, Brocoli is delicious. I'm just telling yeah, right,
I broccoli like youut your steak welldone. Got to make sure that broccoli

(18:53):
is charred all the way through tomake sure it's cook man. Good lord.
You know what else I did?I went down the rabbit hole on
the on Pooty Tang after he wasmispronouncing poutine earlier the movie Pooty Tang.
You wrote directed that, Louis C. K. You never would have seen
that. You never would have guessedthat. No, I would not know

(19:14):
that. I would have thought likeRobert Townsend or something like that. I
think one of the best things tocome out of that was you remember watching
the Bernie mac Show. So ChrisRock comes into play he's as Chris Rock,
and he's of course the end PootyTang and he comes in to play
cards and like somebody at the tabletalks about loving Pooty Tangs, Like you
never saw that because apparently, liketo Luis K's credit, like he disavowed

(19:37):
the final cut. They like removedhim from the editing room and totally re
edited the movie like from what hefrom waters the visioned. So uh,
but yeah, apparently he wrote anddirected, you know, up until he
was removed from the from the editingprocess. So and speaking of Luisy,
why he was removed, I don'tknow. Let's whip out an NFL six
pack. It's time for the NFLStar In informa, you can't find anywhere

(20:00):
else. No. Six the topsix NFL headline. What let's start with
a college basketball headline? Women's collegebasketball headline? Let's use lost to Iowa
in the lead eight was likely kLey van Lelis's final game with the Tigers,
and Litis has entered the transfer porthole. Twenty two years old, she's
played four years of college basketball, has an extra year of eligibility due to

(20:22):
COVID nineteen. She was the centerpieceof the Louisville women's basketball team for three
seasons, two time first team AllECC obviously shared with the poor last year.
Considered Stanford South Carolina before committing toLSU, the reigning champions at the
time, but she was tasked withguarding Caitlyn Clark most of that that game,
and a defensive assignment that LSU coachKim Molkie never seemed to adjust,

(20:47):
despite Kaitlyn Clark absolutely put it,putting her to the woodshed. After Monday's
loss, Monkey spoke positively about manList's contribution to LSU this team, say
she was forever indebted to her forunselfish play. Uh. How do we
feel about Ailey Vanlists transferring again?Well? You know what, Listen,
I hope she lands to a teamand she's able to overcome an adversity that

(21:11):
we saw when LSU played Iowa, because you said that she was entrusted to
guard Caitlyn Clark and she tried tostay in front of her but just didn't
have the height or the foot speedand Kim Monk you never really adjusted,
so it was kind of a badlook for both of them. But listen,
I'm wishing her all the best. But here's something I want you to

(21:32):
pay attention to, because she saidsomething about staying in college basketball due to
her nils, and she said ifshe was a professional, they would carry
over. But she said that therethere are some people that have to capitalize
in college because they're not a protype player. Their likability is going to
stay in college. And I thinkfor me, that's not the case.

(21:53):
I'm a pro type player. Soshe gets an opportunity to stay in college,
get the extra year due to COVID, and she has approved that she
is a pro style player. Bythe way, that LSU Iowa game twelve
point three million viewers, more thanevery college football regular season game other than
Ohio State Michigan more than NBA Finalsand more than the World Series. Wow

(22:15):
Wow two. That is impressive.Pat Fryar Mooth says Russell Wilson has been
great about starting to build connections.Quarterback Russell Wilson isn't waiting for the start
of the team's offseason program to startcreating ties these new Steelers teammates tight end
Pratt fire Mooth made an appearance onAround the four to one two this week
and said that he was recently inCalifornia to work with Wilson. Ode Receivers

(22:37):
Calvin Austin and Van Jefferson were alsopart of a session, and for our
mooset, it's been a good startto the bonding process with the team's new
quarterback, said quote, I wasjust down there in San Diego with him
working out throwing routes. It's beengreat at talking to guys starting to build
that connection. It's a great guy. You can tell the drive and determination
he has to win to come toPittsburgh and wins the playoff games for us.
Coming off two bad seasons and justinfields also in Pittsburgh, Wilson has

(22:59):
plenty of reason to be doing everythingpossible to off to a fast start.
Off season work with receivers fits rightinto that. For people who complain that
Russ doesn't, I don't know ingratiateshimself to teammates, his new teammates certainly
saying he's doing the job well.I don't know who those individuals are,
but I do recall seeing the videoand the showed up on social media last
year where he said Tim Patrick Carlingcertain a lot of receivers down and I

(23:22):
think I don't know if that SanDiego where that is. It seems like
it's a little side piece of realestate that Russell trains with the wide receiver.
So Russell has never been a strangerto do in that part of it.
But I'm eager to see how thisrelationship moves forward because obviously there was
a knock on Russ and not beingable to see down the middle of the
field. I always thought it wasbecause he didn't have a tight end and

(23:45):
some other things. That fact you'rein. But pat final moves. You
have to figure that those two guysdeveloping that chemistry right now, it's to
pay diffidends for both of those guys. You hope in the regular season three,
the Houston Texans white out the finalthree years of Stefan Diggs contract.
The Texans ree work Diggs contract afteracquiring from the Bills Adam Scheffer. ESPN

(24:07):
reporters used to wipe out the finalthree years of the receivers deal, giving
him an ability to come a freeagent after this season. The Texans also
took the three and a half millionguaranteed digs next season and moved into this
season that assures digs of a twentytwo point five to two million dollars guaranteed
money in twenty twenty four. Diggshas no guaranteed money left on his contract
after this season, but he hadbeen scheduled to make eighteen million, nineteen

(24:30):
point one and fourteen point four nineto five million in base salary in twenty
twenty five, twenty six, andtwenty seven. Diggs obviously going to be
motivated to show the Bills they airedin trading him, even though he requested
the trade and showed the rest ofthe league what he's worth in free agency
in twenty twenty five. Is thisa best case scenario for both teams?
Wells best case scenario four Partessians, but not so much the Bills because they're

(24:55):
hitting the reset button. That's notlooking great for Josh Allen, who's and
a loaded AFC East and he's gonnaloaded AFC conference as a whole. But
this works out great for Stefan Diggsto get some new money. And yeah,
he doesn't have the Philly guarantees ofthe contract, but he gets a
chance to go with the team thatis a playoff contender. I won't say

(25:18):
Super Bowl just yet, but lastyear one hundred and seven receptions only eight
touchdowns. I'm thinking that Bobby Slogan'sgonna get him involved in the offense a
lot more. I yeah, Imean, I think he's going to be
a factor there. I'm just interestedto see if someone who's mercurial like that
and has kind of been a mefirst, get me the targets or trade
me kind of guy, if that'sgonna rub off the wrong way in that
locker room. You don't really knowit's not, because once again, when

(25:41):
you wish this stage of your career, you're thirty years old, you've been
chasing playoffs in super Bowls, andyou're like, okay, well, I'm
willing to just kind of calm myselfdown to fit into this locker room with
one hell of a coach and DamikoRyans who makes his guys feel a part
of everything that they're doing as ateam. I'm o, but it works
out because that young team could usethe the veteran presence that he's seigs is

(26:04):
a doll. Yeah, but hewants the ball. He wants the ball.
Four, I mean he doesn't wantthe ball the football anyway is DJ
Burns. The football flutations with theNC State forward were fleeting on Thursday.
Burns slam the door on the NFL, saying he has no interest in playing
football. Size and overall agility makehim attracted to football teams. He's listed

(26:26):
at six nine two seventy five, although he's probably two inches shorter than that,
about twenty pounds heavier. After hesaid he has zero interested in football,
he started to add something else beforerepeating himself, saying zero. Yeah,
I mean yeah, zero. Itcould be that he regards football as
a fallback if a pro basketball careerdoesn't work out, and maybe he doesn't

(26:47):
want to admit that before exhausting allopportunities to make a living playing basketball,
or sway people from thinking he mightnot be one hundred percent committed to basketball
I don't think his future lies inbasketball, certainly not at the NBA level,
where he's not somebody he's gonna beable to run up and down the
court. Felt slimming down. ButI don't know. I do see somebody
who looks like you make a heckof an offensive tackle. He would based

(27:07):
on pure size and his footwork. But let's be totally honest. DJ Burns
stands to make more money I wouldbelieve going to the NBA than he would
play in the NFL. Like inthe NFL, he could be cut at
any point. In the NBA,he could sit on the bench for a
couple of years, cast a lotof checks, and I could tell you,

(27:29):
being a former player, a lotof his insurance and all that stuff
after he finished plays is more guaranteedthan guys playing the NFL. So he's
making the right decision. Yeah, trying to make sure that he latches on
in the NBA first, as youhave. I I mad at it.
I just you know, the footballguy in me is like, no,
no, no, come out overhere. No, it doesn't, it
doesn't, it doesn't make us.And I get it. How many times
if he watched a basketball game, watch someone throw across in the end pass

(27:56):
for a layup, and someone goes, look, oh, he would be
great in the NFL. No,he would. Nicolea is the best quarterback
right now. No. They saythat about those basketball players all the time.
I'm gonna say this may sound biased, but I don't think basketball players
is as tough as they make themout to be. I'm with you on
that. Back. The basketball mentalityversus football mentality is definitely different. Oh

(28:17):
I spring my now, I can'tplay. Yeah, load management, Yeah,
come on man five. Jaydon Danielsand Drake May are going to be
visiting the Patriots. Drake May willbe visiting tomorrow, Jayden Daniels on Monday
or Albert Breer, North Carolina backquarterback. Drake May will take us in
person with New England tomorrow. It'llbe the third meeting between May and the

(28:37):
Patriots. Also spent time with theclub at the scouting combine and before his
pro day. The Bears, ofcourse, have all but selected Caleb Williams
at number one, which leaves Mayand Jadan Daniels as the likely quarterbacks to
go two and three, respectively.Betting odds have tilted a little towards May
going two overall to Washington. However, Jaydon Daniels still the favorite on that
Daniels will obviously visit on Monday, his agent told Ian Rapport of NFL Media.

(29:03):
The Heisman Trophy winner has also visitedor is scheduled to visit with the
Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos, and Raiders. In twelve games last
season, he completed seventy two pointtwo percent of his passes, thirty one
hundred twelve yards, forty touchdowns, four picks, ran for eleven hundred and
thirty four yards and ten touchdowns aswell. Well, you know what,
Jane Daniels is a very dynamic player, and I like his evolution from going

(29:29):
from Arizona State and playing in SEC, which was people considered to be arguably
the best conference in football, tostep down from the NFL. I think
he's proven himself going up winning theHeisman and doing what he's been able to
do from a production standpoint as arunner and a guy under center who can
play inside and outside of the pocket. But here's the thing. You mentioned

(29:52):
that he is coming probably on thevisit to see the Broncos. I just
don't see to fit I really don't. And the only way fit actually changes
if Sean Payton changes his viewpoint inhis perception of quarterbacks who had you know,
Jae Daniels skill set. I tendto agree with that. I I
don't think Jade Daniels is the bestbit here, even if he was LSU.

(30:14):
And obviously there are connections. Youknow, Sean Payton loved to you
know, the LSU stuff. ButI it's interesting. I think Jaden's still
going to go number two to thecommanders. I do think that's the lean
right now. I don't think thecommanders have decided, but I think they
have a lean, and I thinkthat's their lean as it sits right now.
So I don't think Brock is evengoing to be in the conversation that
said, trying to get Jayden onthe show. We'll see what We'll see
what shakes out with that. FickLawyer says where she Rice was driving one

(30:40):
of the cars involved in the racethat sparked the crash. In his statement
on Wednesday, Chiefs Receiver Rashi Ricedidn't say he was driving either of the
vehicles that caused the crash. OnThursday, Lawyer said it for him James
Hartley of the Fort Worth Star Telegramquotes lawyer Royce West at these Thursday press
conference that Rice was driving the Lamborghiniyou're us that was involved in the incident.

(31:02):
Is an important admission. A driverleaves the scene of an accident involving
injuries becomes subject to significant criminal sanctions. Ice could be exposed to criminal liability
for street racing as well as wellalso have civiliabilities for the injury and property
damage arising from the wreck. Healso faces potential discipline by the league or
the chiefs. Do we need Isthere some kind of training we need to

(31:23):
have for these young guys. Imean she Rice had some red flags coming
out of smut as an immature guythat said, we've seen enough guys with
street racing issues. Did nobody learnfrom Henry Ruggs. I mean, not
that was street racing, but drivingyour car fast just because you have a
fast car. They got tracks forthat. Being out there doing it in
the public has not turned out wellfor NFL players. Hey man, even

(31:45):
Tracy Chadman didn't wouldn't like like thisone as far as driving a fast car.
When you look at Rice, man, this is going to be damaging
in so many ways because even thoughyou can issue apology personally, your representation,
it is just the optics of whatwe saw via the video. I
mean, two cars going on ahighway. Luckily there wasn't a loss of

(32:08):
life, but it could have easilyhappened. And then to see Rice and
whomever was with him just kind ofwalking leave the cars the way they are.
The league is going to try todo something about this. This is
just said that we find another playerin the midst of the off season where
we're talking about something that could havebeen a preventive Yeah. I mean,

(32:29):
I just shake my head at this. I mean, right again, Rice
was a guy with Nolan red flagscoming out. The Chiefs are an organization
that does take chances on those kindsof guys. But man, I mean
what you know, and I happento know people in that building are a
little let down by his actions, have been let down by some of the
way that he's sort of been. But you know, you catch up balls,
you win enough games covers all.Matterson's right, No, it does

(32:50):
not, it does not. WellI'm talking about this, I'm talking about
the other thing, you know, attitude, Yeah, yeah, absolutely so.
For me, it's just how wouldthe lead playing on a you know,
attacking this situation. There has tobe some kind of suspension of some
sort. It can't be just amere slap on the wrist, because this
is not just for Rashid Rice. What does it say for the guys who

(33:14):
are currently in the league, butmore importantly the young guys looking to come
into the league. And I andI get it, we've all made mistakes
when we were young, but youcan't make this one man. You can't.
You can't do this too much outthere. And it's good. I
have a feeling the NFL is gonnacome down horror on him too, just
because this is post rugs, youknow, Froncos country. Then I had
rolls on right here on k afterthis
