(00:00):
Welcome to it Broncos country tonight. But with all Brian Dick, Ferguson,
Grant Smith five sixty six nine zero'sthe text line. Got a bunch of
texts rolling in. It's four sixnine wondering if it's more likely that we
trade down, trade up, orstay put at twelve. I mean,
(00:20):
and this is something that we've beentalking about for a while. I know
that the Broncos are exploring the tradeup, if that makes sense. And
I don't mean that they're aggressively pursuingit. I mean they're making calls about
what it'll cost. I don't thinkthat they I don't think they have the
ammunition to make it work. AndI know you have a bunch of people
(00:41):
out there saying Sean Payton's going tobe aggressive and go get his guy.
Well, if that's his guy,and if they can, I'm not sure
they can. Field Yates was outthere earlier today busting the bubble of people
who are trying to tell me thatyou could get up to five for cheap,
and he's like, yeah, that'snot the case. Like the Viking's
two first rounders isn't gonna be enoughto get five? You're gonna need additional
additional draft capital. Eleven and whatdid they get the Texans pick? Was
(01:06):
it twenty? I have to goback twenty six, twenty eight. Whatever
the texts are picking those are notlike it's not and I get that on
the point value chart that there's asimilarity there. But the point value chart
is something that media and fans use. It's the teams. There's there's a
there's a premium to that, especiallyif you're coming up for a quarterback.
The cost for the San Francisco fortynine ers to move from twelve where the
(01:27):
Broncos are picking, to three forTrey Lance is well documented. Vikings have
eleven and twenty three twenty three. It's eleven twenty three and Field Gates was
out there today tell you that's notenough. The Vikings pick ahead of the
Broncos. They're picking at eleven, the Broncos pick at twelve, eleven and
(01:48):
twenty three is not enough. Sothe idea that you're going to move up,
mortgage everything and go get the quarterback, well, you all are the
same people that are telling me thatthe Broncos are not a quarterback away,
that there's roster's bad. So howare you going to fix the roster then
magic, that's Shilah buff meme.It it's it's it's absolutely ridiculous. Ye
(02:19):
I don't. I don't understand howanybody can can advocate it. It's a
bad roster building. It's bad. It's a bad roster building. You don't
just go get the quarterback and hopeeverything works out. You build a roster
and then you go get the quarterback. And if you want to say that
(02:42):
the Broncos did it wrong over thelast decades, okay, I'm in line
to have that conversation. They didn'tgo get the quarterback. They paddicked and
took Paxton Lynch. That got agun shy when it came to you know,
Josh Allen Justin Herbert didn't come outthe year where they wanted him to
where they had to low pick. They tried to plug and play with veterans.
(03:07):
They took the big swing on RussellWilson. If you want to say
that they've botched it up town thenow, fine, but that doesn't mean
you compound mistakes with a franchise cripplingmistake. What if the quarterback is good?
What if what if the quarterback isgood. But because you're devoid of
(03:29):
talent, you surrounded him with amediocre offensive line and a lack of skill
position players, and he gets DavidCarr, Tim couched. He gets shellacked
so bad that by the time youbuild a team around him, he's a
shell of himself. I just Idon't I can't even wrap my head.
(03:52):
I mean, I get that they'reso quarterback thirsty that they don't care until
they get the quarterback, and thenthey will care. And that's why you
don't do things for the fans, because the fans will tell you one thing
and then they'll change my mind thenext year and tell you something else.
Right when we draft JJ McCarthy andthen go three and fourteen next year?
Right, All this guy sucks. There was a bad evaluation, not even
to build a freaking team around him. Almost got myself an FCC fire there.
(04:15):
I was ready on the dumb buttonthere. I thought it was coming
out. You're getting heated. Yeah, watching a little bit of this hockey
game here with the Gulagaski grabbing astick. Never a good idea. Five
six six nine zero. Somebody wantsto know what the Raiders are gonna do
at quarterback. Well, there's alot of rumors that have been floating around
(04:38):
recently that the Raiders were gonna tryand take Michael Pennox at thirteen. I
don't believe those. I don't haveany I don't have any belief in that
whatsoever. Everybody I've talked to overthere thinks otherwise. Thanks, they're either
on offensive line or corner there atthirteen. The Raiders could be another trade
back candidate. Somebody wants to comeup get an offensive lineman, an edge
(05:01):
rusher, or a corner. TheRaiders could trade back, get their quarterback.
They've got a second round pick ifthey wanted, if they wanted Bonix
or Michael Pennox, they could theycould make that happen. One of the
latest mocks I saw, I forgetwho was from, had Broncos taking Pinnix
(05:21):
at twelve. Yeah, that's notfrom everything we've talked about. I'm like,
man, that is quite the reach, unless, like you said,
that's their guy. But I haven'theard any indication of that. I mean,
I haven't heard, and to behonest with you, I I what
(05:43):
I had heard was that that wasn'teven a thing, that they weren't considering
him. Mostly, I'd like tosee the Raiders just give him Minshew a
whole year, see what he's got. You know, you always talk about
how streak he is. He is, but they got they got ad O'Connell
there, you know who he beatthat beat him out for the right out.
And I thought O'Connor played really wellfor a rookie decent against us.
(06:04):
He had, you know, hehad probably one of the worst situations to
jump into, well, the headcoach getting fired mid season, subpar offensive
line, skill position players that weremiddling. Still, I thought he found
a way to kind of make itwork. That's fascinating to me. I
(06:29):
mean, you know, I don'tthink ain't O'Connell's destined for NFL super scarred
him, But he looked like aguy who had at least had a core
competency there. Serviceable quarterback, yeah, serviceable starter. It would be interesting
to see, you know, ifI were the Raiders, and I mean,
it's you know, it's it's myfirst year full time, and I'm
reshaping this thing in my in myimage. I don't know that I'm undercutting
(06:50):
the quarterback that helped carry me tothe job right off the bat That's a
good point, you know. Doesthat does that You had a whole team
that was lobbying the owner to keepAntonio Pierce. Pierce was the guy who
stuck his neck out for O'Connell, made him the starter bench. Jimmy Garoppolo
(07:12):
said, this is my guy,and at that point, you're gonna cut
his legs out from underham. Here'sthe thing about Michael Pennox that I find
to be the most interesting. Ifthe Seattle Seahawks don't take him in the
first round, doesn't that say everything? The Seattle Seahawks have Geno Smith and
(07:40):
Sam Howell. If Michael Pennox isthat dude and the Seahawks don't take him.
And the reason I say that isbecause the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator is
Michael Pennock's offensive coordinator from college. Some guy. I had to block some
guy at one point because all hewould do was spam anything I said with
like my Michael Pennixt. I waslike, I'm not doing this. Gotta
(08:00):
love Twitter. Oh it's it's tenables. Are you are you converted to Collin?
I'll never call it X ever neverin my life let ever call its
Twitter. But You're right, though, If anybody's gonna believe in Michael Pennox,
it's gonna be his His play callerfrom college, right, nobody knows
him better than Ryan Grubb. Yeah, if the Seahawks pass on that doesn't
that say everything? Yeah? Itdoes? And then where does he fall
(08:22):
to after that? Gosh, Iwas talking with a guy who he used
to work in scouting for the XFL. He does stuff for the NFL now,
and all of a sudden about itthe other day, and he was
convinced that, like Boenix and MichaelPennix would be there in the third fourth
round if people wanted him. Ican't. I don't necessarily see that,
(08:43):
but that's not the only person.Back in February, when I started talking
to people about this and I postedit on Twitter, that the league was
significantly higher on JJ McCarthy as atop ten pick and lower on Nixon Pennox's
Day two, Day three kind ofguys. Now, back then, everybody
(09:09):
laughed at me the way JJ McCarthygoes that high. Now he's gonna go
top five, and we're saying thatPennix was like the best quarterback of the
draft and all that kind of stuff, which you know there are He has
a bizarre fan base that really believesin him, and if he comes out
(09:30):
and blows the doors off in theNFL, he's gonna make him look smart.
Well, And don't you think it'seasy for an average fan. I
mean, like me, when yousee him on the biggest stages of college
football put up outrageous numbers, you'regonna be swayed by that. And I
think that's what happened in a lotof these cases. A lot of people's
first exposure to Michael Pennis was Washingtonplay against Texas, and those same people
(09:52):
not realizing that Texas had a horrificdefense. It was like a bottom seven
defense in college football this past year. They gave up like four hundred fifty
pas sing yards to Houston, Andyeah, he torched a bad defense,
and then he went and played agood defense in Michigan. We all saw
what happened. You go back andyou look at the tape on Panics,
(10:13):
and the thing that bugs me ishow pressure rattles him. Some guys are
just cool under pressure. He isnot that dude. And JJ McCarthy seems
to be that kind of you know, we'll see. I think J.
J. McCarthy's the guy that everybodywanted Zach Wilson to be. Seems to
have a better head on his shoulders. Yeah, at least coming out of
(10:35):
college, right. But Pannis, when he gets noisy around his feet,
he gets rattled. When he getshit, he gets rattled, and he
get hit a whole lot. Becausethey had an impressive offensive line and they
had some great receivers there. Hecan't get hit a whole lot. But
when he did, he didn't bounceback the way you want to see somebody
(10:56):
who just shrugs pressure off bounces backfive six, six nine zeros. A
text line seventy four says, anyword on a trade up? Would it
be surprising to see neighbors slide?Would it be smart for the Broncos to
pick him? No word on atrade up? Yes, it would be
(11:18):
surprising. Neighbors will not get pastsix. Well, I take that back.
There's a scenario there where he couldget past six. He wouldn't get
past nine. No matter what.I don't want somebody out there to make
a wager on something I said withoutbeing clear on that the Broncos, I
(11:41):
mean, what are you gonna dowith neighbors. Who are you taking off
the field to put him on there? You got Courtland who you know what
I mean? You could trade himMims. You traded Judy saying you were
gonna get Mems more work. Ijust don't think neighbors is the right way
to go for the Broncos. Butthat's just me. Someone I Ben,
would you say that Sanders is apeytent fit next year at quarterback? Some
(12:03):
are saying to pass on a quarterbackthis year and suck for two meaning she
dor why Concerts he holds a ballso long. Payton may not like him.
I'm a huge fan of Sanders, would not and would want nothing more
than see U to Bronco's story tobecome a reality. Is this even a
scheme fit and possibility? Well,I mean, and I agree with you
in a sense, And I thinkhe holds a ball too long. I
(12:24):
think part of that is on thefact that he had a bad offensive line.
Part of it's on the way thatthey designed that offense or trying to
use him by by the time.I love the way that he's cool.
Letter pressure. Sanders is cool letterpressure. You know nothing faces the guy
moment's not too big, that kindof stuff. I love that about him.
I do think he holds a balltoo long. It'll be a question
of whether or not you can speedthat clock up. Part of that.
He's gonna have an NFL offensive coordinatorthis year with Pat Shermer. Whatever we
(12:46):
think of of Pat Shermer, hewas an NFL offensive coordinator. What's his
name though, really in your mindpunch Shermer. Some times they told me
to stop calling him that. Yeah, while he was coaching for the broadcast.
Yeah, the two away, Ben, I am with you on your
(13:07):
plan for this year and build andsay they pick it twelve next year after
going eight and nine with Steam,Say we are having the same conversation next
year about not mortgaging the futures.One. You're gonna make that big a
difference when I get your guy nowat the band Aid, big fan,
keep up the great work. Wellthe difference next years you have more draft
capital. You got a second rounder. You're not already you're not in a
(13:28):
fifty five million dollar cap hit deficit. You're gonna have an additional twenty million
in cap space. That's that's beforeyou even get to the cap rising because
of a broadcast rights going up,which you'll probably jump another eighteen so you're
probably gonna have forty eight million additionaldollars next year in cap space. And
that second rounder and that second roundis huge. That's the difference. Three
(13:54):
A five says. Every time yousay we'll see, it makes me miss
Steeve Outwater a little more. Yeah, we're looking to We will have to
step back here soon. Steve's goingthrough some stuff. Well, we have
to get it back soon. Ialways love talking with Steve five too.
Well. Well, the Broncos drafta quarterback in the first round. Well,
I mean that is the question, isn't it. My lean is no,
(14:18):
not for lack of want to ortrying, but my lean right now
is no. We'll see. Westill got what ten days in the draft
something like that. Yeah, nextThursday, stay tuned right here at KOA
for draft coverage the whole NFL draft. NFL Draft Thursday Friday. You know
what, Yeah, by Saturday,I'm dead. I'm just like, I
(14:39):
haven't even shot. I haven't evenlooked at the schedule yet because I don't
want to know how many hours I'mgoing to be working over those three days.
But it won't be any more thanyou. Yeah, it's it's just
awful. My voice is just shot. By day three, lots of questions
coming in, including the uniform question, which I believe debut is a week
(15:01):
from today. I have seen them. I didn't like them. I'll just
say that, yeah, but Idon't have the best taste in it.
I just say I'm also the worstperson because I'm like Alabama and Penn State.
Those are the best uniforms that youknow. I don't like the triangles
and the sleeves. I don't like. It's just I don't I don't know.
I don't like them. Maybe he'llgrow on me. Maybe maybe I'm
(15:24):
being an old man here for May. Maybe they'll grow on me. Get
off my lawn. We'll see. We'll get some more of your questions when
we come back. Broncos Country Tonight, Kawa, Welcome back to it,
Broncos Country Tonight, Benjamin Olbrden,Nick Ferguson, Grant Smith here with you.
I don't know if you just sawthat, but I totally nailed that
shot with the water bottling of thetrash can across the studio there. I
(15:45):
don't believe there's literally nobody here, nobody watching it. I just when you
waste the best ones, you know, you have nothing but net shot like
that, it's wasted on nobody witnessedit. I always do that with my
rundown at the end of KOA Sports, right, throw it into the trash,
can you know, like Tony Rea, Yeah, around the horn,
and I make it a lot ofthe time. And then today Ryan Edwards
and Michael Cooper both walk in andI miss that horribly. Of course this
(16:08):
is the one you see. Well, it was at the other day when
Nick was here and I threw theI did that. I threw the rundown
across the thing and missed it badly, and he was laughing. He's a
good no skills, no basketball whatsoever. And uh and you know, and
then I make that shot now andhe's not here, save me for myself.
A lot of good questions come in. I'll get to those in a
second. A lot of good stuffthere. We will have live draft coverage
(16:33):
here on KAWAY. I'm not surewhat time we're starting at day Usually we
started like five, I think, yeah, I'm not sure. It'll be
sometime in KOE sports normal time slot, but it'll be uh myself. They've
loganed off for Williams right Edwards,Brendan Kristall, Nick Ferguson, I'm sure,
uh Grant, we'll be chipping inas well. I'm sure I will
be here in some capacity. Imean, obviously we'll need to know what
(16:56):
the Bengals are doing. Yes,so we'll turn to our resident Bengals expert.
But hey, as long as JoeBurrow's there, that's all that matters.
And it looks like they're going tokeep Higgins at least this year on
the franchise tag. That's what I'mhere. And yeah, we'll see,
we'll see. Could there be aDraft day trade? Might there might be
a little bit of that, Mightbe a little bit of that, and
just say it. It might bebetter to just get it done with.
(17:17):
Ll see, we'll see. Yougot a Buffalo team that's eyeball and receivers.
We'll see what's going on with that. I six six En yer Ols
text line. Man, what agood replacement that would be in Buffalo for
them? Higgins? Yeah, nodrama, yep, you don't have the
drama Lamba there anymore. What's thefunds, which, by the way,
hit in the prime career, Like, it's so interesting to me, how
it's interesting to me how people justdon't realize what an absolute handful he was.
(17:44):
Well, even going back to histime in Minnesota, right he had
you got results on the field, but you know, he was an absolute
nightmare, you know, in alot of ways to deal with. I
think it was destructive in the lockerroom. That's ultimately why they just moved,
just moved him. As I don'tI don't understand the Texans doing that.
Like I get sort of we're pushingall in on a QB window,
(18:07):
But it feels like he's a divisiveguy to bring into a locker room.
I mean, first give you mytargets kind of guy in a room full
of developing receivers, Demiko Ryans players, coach, former player. Maybe he
thinks he can resonate with him.Maybe I just that to me that that
seems like a it seems like amistake to me. You had everything track
(18:33):
in the right way with the Texans, and then you zigged when you had
been zagging. Yeah, and ifit goes wrong, man, it looks
so bad. Yeah, with allthe bright up and coming young guys on
their roster, We'll see how itgoes ProAb six six times. Zeres a
text line. Somebody's asking his numbertwo petulant. I guess he means shador
(18:55):
his Shadoor petulant. I don't know. I don't know that he is or
isn't. I know he's considered oneof the top five quarterbacks in the next
class, and we'll see how thatshakes out. Plenty of time for people
to pass him, or him topass them, or you know whatever.
We'll see it all play out. What's the drop off from the top three
edge rushers to Chop Robinson or theother edge guys worth a double trade down
(19:18):
possibly get it? Well, that'sa possibility. I think Chop Robinson's in
that sort of tier with them alittle bit. Dallas Turner is probably gonna
go to the Falcons. So really, what that leaves you is at twelve
is Jared Verse or Laotu Latou, who's one of my favorites. Lat two
does come with some medical baggage. He had temporarily retired. Actually he was
(19:41):
at the University of Washington. Hehad retired, but he left football so
much he you know, came backto UCLA. So if you do see
him drop on draft day, thatthat would be why it would be the
medicals, because he's everything you want. Otherwise, what's the history with the
injuries? What made him call itquits in the first place? He had
a believe was an neck injury.I'd have to go back and look.
(20:04):
He had yeah, neck injury inpreseason workouts during the COVID shortened twenty twenty
two season, and he had neckfusion surgery to repair lingering numbness. Now,
when he got to UCLA, hehad no concerns over the neck history.
UCLA had no concerns. And youknow, I mean again, this
(20:26):
is twenty twenty four, this isfour years after he's had that surgery,
So it appears to be fine.I mean, he was playing football at
a high level, taking impacts, all that kind of stuff. Somebody did
an interview with him, Jeff Legwoldactually did an interview back in February after
(20:52):
the combine and lots who said noteams have talked about any kind of concern
over the neck injury that kept himon the sideline Washington for two years.
Said being out here, I hadhad to do too many medicals, just
like everybody else. Be dreaming aboutthe NFL. So I was a kid,
never gave up on it. Butyeah, there's no doesn't appear that
(21:12):
anybody he's saying anyway, had anyconcerns about that neck injury. Yeah,
and when you step away from thegame like that, either by choice or
by an injury like that, youknow, and may reinvigorate your love for
the game and make you want itthat much more, which could be a
positive for some teams looking at him. And he's played two full seasons since
(21:33):
that, and we're the Beast. It was absolutely dominant. I would say
that league league people I talked towould say he's the most technically proficient pass
rusher. But of course, Imean again the medical questions. Some people
are gonna digging it for that fivesix six nine zero Step one nine says
(21:57):
Pennix is a poster child for medicalbaggage. Yeah, I mean yeah,
that's the other part of the penisthing. Not only is he old,
not only does he struggle with pressurewhen it gets to him, he's also
got a ton of medical issues. Was it four total season ending injuries,
including two of the same ACL.I just I don't get the hype there.
(22:22):
I look at the tape. Isee the quick release. Okay,
cool. I love the fact thathe's got the arm strength. Cool.
But in terms of being a completepackage, if I let me put it
in this in this way so thatpeople can understand, if I was running
a collegiate program, I'd probably beall over him. But as an NFL
prospect, no, And I'd saythe same thing about case Keenum. You
(22:49):
know, there's some guys that aregreat college quarterbacks that just aren't cut out
for the NFL game. And we'llsee. Maybe Penix rises above it all
becomes a starkly Maybe he does.I don't know. Yeah, I hope
you're wrong, just because I likedhim as a person so much, Like
he just seems like the perfect quarterbackmentally to lead a team. But I
(23:12):
mean, he's gonna stay healthy todo so. Yeah, seen some decent
interviews. I mean, you know, I I just again the scouts I
talked to back in February when everybodywas penciling Panics in the top five,
and they were kind of openly mockingthat, openly mocking media that were doing
that. We'll see, we'll seehow it all shakes up. Three or
(23:32):
three us to know if I wasa Saved by the Bell fan, Well,
like Kelly Kapowski was a tifty inRefeasent fan. You ain't kidding?
Uh was it Elizabeth Berkley was onthere? Yeah, I didn't. I
didn't realize her potential until a coupleof movies later. There was only one.
There was only one. Now,you just tell it on yourself.
(23:52):
Young Grant was a big fan ofshow Girls. Yeah, it's like,
there's only one movie here. You'retrying to Elizabeth, Like, what other
movie was she in that anyone saw? Yeah? She was. She used
to return to acting a couple ofyears ago. Remember the and there was
a show. And you know, back before I got old fat, people
(24:17):
used to say I look like thedude white Collar. Remember that show White
Collar? The guy wore a fedoraall the time. It was on USA.
The show was loosely based on thesame source material that Catch Me if
you can, the movie with LeoDiCaprio and Tom Hanks. I do love
that movie. Yeah, it's theshow. Was never seen the show the
(24:40):
show. Okay, so the showWhite Collar started a guy named Matt Bomar.
And you know, back in theday, I used to do that
with the white VNX and the fedoralike that. I used to I used
to have that look. I'm sureif you look up the guy from White
Collars, like you google it,you know what I'm talking about. Anyway,
I used to get that every oncein a while because my hair was
longer back then. All that andyou rocked a Fedora. I did,
(25:00):
wow about uh about fifteen years ago, back before it became trendy. I
don't yeah, because it became athing for a minute there, but about
fifteen twenty years ago whatever, Yeah, I used to I had like a
My look was the Fedora with theyou know, the plunging V white V
neck T shirt. This is liketwo thousand and nine, I think,
(25:22):
eight twenty seven, somewhere in thatrange. And which one were you supposed
to look like? The one withthe fedora? Matt Boehmer, Yeah,
okay, I can see it alittle bit passing resemblest in the face.
It's kind of the eyes thing. But he's a better looking Benjamin all right,
way better look way better like I'mnot yeah, like yeah, anyway,
(25:44):
got a couple of texts in hereabout Jordan Travis. Travis seems like
one of the quick processor types, but still was some athleticism. Yeah,
obviously injury concern, and Travis wasback throwing today. I think Tom Pelsaro
put a video out he's back therefinally throwing today. Thinks he'll be ready
for for camp and all that kindof stuff. Travis is the guy I
(26:06):
think people are sleeping on this draftclass. I'd be a guy to be
available there in the first ten picksthe fourth round. Yeah, and he
was right up in there with allall the top quarterbacks in conversation when he
was he had a phenomenal season thereat Florida State. I don't know if
he would have been, you know, probably keep you five in this class
when all said done, But hewas, you know, I mean,
he was a guy before he gothurt. It was carrying the Florida State
(26:27):
team offensively. I'm not opposed tothat. I've talked about that scenario.
I'm not opposed to it. Tradeback in the first round, multiply your
picks, get get an edge rusherto the defensive tackle, Go get to
I know sweats in trouble to Vanderssweat out at Texas. I know he's
in trouble because he had a DWI. But you know, if you believe
(26:48):
in him, you believe you canget him settled down from the party.
And that's a mountain of a manto put it the nose. I think
he was set to visit the Broncoshe did today. I believe, Yeah,
if you could get if you canget him, or you could get
you know, get you know,a corner and and and an edge something
like that, whatever you could, you know, with with a trade back,
you can get those two pieces andround out the defense and they turn
(27:10):
around and get a flyer or afourth round like Travis. And if it
works out, then you look likea genius. If it doesn't work out,
then there's a fourth rounder. You'reit's a fourth rounder and you're right
back in the conversation next year. But getting the quarterback anyway, And I
was watching this, just watching thisvideo from Tom Pellisaro, and he looks
pretty good on that ankle. We'llsee. I'm just saying, he looks
(27:33):
like a guy that you know,if you're gonna take a flyer to me,
that's the one you're taking a flyeron. I know people have different
opinions of people, like you know, Joe Milton because the cannon arm,
but he has no accuracy. OrMichael Pratt, who is kind of the
opposite, has accuracy but kind ofhas a water shooter for a gun.
And I know you've you've talked aboutthis for before, but uh, Spencer
(27:56):
Rattler, where do you think hewhat round you think he goes in?
Probably like the fourth like the firstten picks of the fourth round, you
know, I think it's I thinkonce Nicks and Penix go, then he's
the next guy. He might evengo before one of those two. But
again, I think those three aregoing later than people think right now.
Like if you see the mock drafts, I don't think any of them are
going the first We'll see again,we'll see only takes one team, which
(28:19):
Broncos fans know. We talked aboutthe Tebow thing all the time. Nobody
was taking Tim Tebow, absolutely nobody. And then the Broncos go running up
there to the podium in the firstround. Yeah, he gave us one
magical moment. Though I mean tobe fair, it was that's before my
time in Denver me too, butI remember watching that on TV, and
(28:45):
I remember watching I'll try to rememberwhich game it was hold on. I
think it was the Texans where hegot like a two point conversion. I
think that was the game. Anyway, I was sitting there with a guy
who does not who was a formerNFL coach, not Kay kochymore, but
I was sitting there watching that game. They're like, no way, he
pulls this off. And he's like, he's gonna do this. He's gonna
pull this thing off again. Thisis gonna happen again. Oh man.
(29:08):
I remember I was in college atthe time and one of my best buddies
was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan,and watching them win that game in overtime
over the Steelers was the saddest Ihad ever seen my friend, and one
of the happiest moments for the restof us because we were giving him so
much crap. Well at that point, like and again, I thought Tibo
was absolutely horrendous quarterback. But atthat point, think the magic it was
(29:30):
going on so long that I betthat one. So I bet the Broncos
in that one with Tebow and soI'm freaking out. I'm jumping up and
down with Damarius is holding that thingto the end zone. I'm jumping up
and down. You know, Oh, is that bet was gonna cash?
Nobody believed, Hey, you onlyneed one one person on your side,
(29:51):
the big man upstairs. I'll sketchon all that or whatever. He's like,
Okay, tone it down, buddy, was strong. Somebody's asking if
I like Saved by the Bill ofCollege Years. I don't even remember watching
that. Oh really, I don'tthink so. That might have been after
your time. Yeah, I don'tthink I watched it. One of the
Golic brothers was one of the teachersin college. Oh yeah, okay,
(30:15):
I wouldn't really watch that, butI remember that. I remember that through
one. On any chance, theBroncos like Pennix over Nicks more upside,
not that I'm aware. It doesn'tmean they don't. But that's not what
i've heard. That doesn't mean thatthey don't. It's just not what i've
heard. I don't think that that'sI don't like Pennix is their guy.
(30:44):
I think it's McCarthy, Nix orRattler for the Broncos. I'd love to
see the Travis thing, like wewere just talking about with that scenario five
six six nine Zeros text line Afive accurately guessed the head coach that I
watched the game with. Yeah,I don't want to be a name dropper,
(31:10):
dude, so like, I'm justnot gonna I'm not gonna do that.
But you you guessed it. Yes, I want to give a hint
so bad, but I won't.Yeah, let's let's not because these days.
Let's not maybe five years ago.Yeah, you know, maybe five
years from now. Bob Golick wasthe guy on there. Yes, okay,
(31:33):
because he's uh, because Gojo GodJunior is a friend of mine,
like I, you know, chatwith him on Twitter all the time.
I say, friend acquaintance, chatwith him on Twitter all the time.
Where's he at nowadays? Is hestill working in media somewhere? Yeah?
And he and his dad do thepodcast, you know, the Golie and
Gojo you know podcast thing. Buthe and I, yeah, we chat
in the DMS and stuff all thetime. It's a good dude, you
(31:56):
slide into his DMS. I thinkhe would mind, but just don't get
his number. I'm the weirdest,Like that's I'm I don't like to be
the first person to approach people onTwitter. I feel weird about that.
Come on, it's weird. Sounless I'm like, I like the only
person in the recently that I've been. The person that that I reached out
to on Twitter was Laura Auckman, the sideline reporter for Fox. Yeah.
(32:21):
I wouldn't have her because she hasa side business where she does like if
I like she self assessments has shethe coaches do him? So I want
to get her on. We'll seeif I can listen to Broncos Country Night.
Can't wait.
